Munich Games Massacre
The Munich Games marked the first return of the Olympics to a German city since the 1936 Games in Berlin. Adolf Hitler’s use of those Games as a platform for the propagation of Nazi ideology was roundly criticized, as was the blatant racism and anti-Semitism that characterized the Games. The West German invitation had been extended, in part at least, to offer the world a contrast to the horrifying spectacle of Berlin.
For more than a week, the Games unfolded without incident. The day of terror began at 4:30 AM on September 5, 1972, when eight Palestinian militants affiliated with Black September—a militant offshoot of the Palestinian group Fatah—scaled a fence surrounding the Olympic Village in Munich. Disguised as athletes and using stolen keys, they forced their way into the quarters of the Israeli Olympic team at 31 Connollystrasse. As they attempted to enter Apartment 1, they were confronted by Yossef Gutfreund, a wrestling referee, and Moshe Weinberg, a wrestling coach. Weinberg was shot while fighting with the attackers, who forced him at gunpoint to lead them to the rooms of the remaining Israeli coaches and athletes. It has been proposed that Weinberg led the attackers past Apartment 2—which was also being used by the Israeli team—because he believed that the wrestlers and weightlifters in Apartment 3 would be better able to fight back. However, Black September had detailed plans of the Olympic Village and the dispositions of the Israeli athletes. Shaul Ladany, a race walker who survived the attack after escaping from Apartment 2, suggested that it was much more likely that his room was bypassed because he was housed with members of the Israeli shooting team. The terrorists had struggled to subdue the unarmed men in Apartment 1; it is unlikely that they had wished to engage in a close-quarters gun battle with world-class marksmen in the opening minutes of their operation.
In Apartment 3 the terrorists gathered more hostages and forced them back to Apartment 1. Wrestler Gad Tsabari broke from the group and dashed down a flight of stairs toward an underground parking garage, and Weinberg took advantage of the confusion to again fight the attackers. Weinberg had nearly gained control of a terrorist’s gun when he was shot and killed. Despite being on crutches due to an injury during competition, Yossef Romano, a weightlifter, also made an attempt to disarm one of the terrorists. Romano was killed and his mutilated body was left on the floor of Apartment 1 as a warning. While two Israelis lay dead in the Olympic Village and nine others were being held hostage, International Olympic Committee (IOC) chairman Avery Brundage insisted that the games continue. The terrorists demanded the liberation of more than 200 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, the release of Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof of the Red Army Faction from German prisons, and the provision of an airplane to fly them to a safe destination in the Middle East. While negotiations were ongoing, a planned rescue attempt had to be called off when it was realized that actions of West German police were being broadcast live to nearly 1 billion people around the world and to the many televisions throughout the Olympic Village. At about 10:00 PM on September 5, believing they had reached an agreement, the terrorists led their bound and blindfolded hostages from their quarters into buses that transported them to waiting helicopters.
The helicopters carried them to Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base, 15 miles (25 km) west of the Olympic Village, where police were lying in ambush. Although the German army had better training and equipment for such a mission, under West Germany’s postwar constitution, the armed forces were forbidden from aiding the civilian police. The police snipers used in the operation had not received formal training as sharpshooters, they were improperly placed and inadequate in number, and they lacked radios to communicate with each other or with commanders. In addition, they were armed with assault rifles rather than sniper rifles, and their weapons had neither long-range scopes nor night-vision capability. On the air base tarmac was a Boeing 727 filled with 17 police officers disguised as a Lufthansa flight crew. It was intended that these officers would subdue the terrorists once they had boarded the plane, but the police unanimously chose to abandon their posts. Armoured cars that were to have aided in the rescue of the Israelis were dispatched too late and became stuck in traffic. With myriad failures in both planning and execution, the result was a disaster on virtually every level.
The helicopters arrived about 10:30 PM, and two terrorists went to inspect the jetliner. Finding it empty and becoming aware of the deception, they shouted to their comrades, at which point West German police fired upon them. A gun battle ensued, and several terrorists and one police officer were killed. The helicopter flight crews ran for cover, but the Israeli athletes were bound together and trapped. After the initial fusillade, in which the terrorists also shot out the floodlights that had been illuminating the tarmac, the scene settled into a tense stalemate punctuated by sporadic gunfire. Onlookers surrounded the airfield, and sportscaster Jim McKay, who was anchoring Olympic coverage for the U.S. network ABC, provided television viewers with preliminary updates. At midnight, a German official announced that all the hostages had been freed and all the terrorists had been killed, a report that proved to be tragically premature. Just after midnight, a terrorist tossed a hand grenade into one of the helicopters, killing all but one of the Israeli hostages aboard; David Berger, an American-born wrestler, succumbed to smoke inhalation before rescue personnel could reach him. A second terrorist sprayed the interior of the other helicopter with bullets at close range, murdering the five remaining Israelis.
Too late to aid in the rescue effort, the armoured cars finally reached the runway, but their crews had no knowledge of the deployment of police personnel in the field and no way to communicate with them. A gunman ran toward a position where one of the helicopter pilots and a police sniper had taken cover. The terrorist was shot and killed by the sniper, but the movement on the darkened runway drew fire from one of the armoured cars, and both the pilot and sniper were seriously wounded by friendly fire. By 12:30 AM on September 6, the shooting had stopped, and the 20-hour reign of terror was over. Eleven Israelis had been killed, along with one Munich policeman, and five Black September terrorists lay dead. Three of the gunmen were captured. At 3:00 AM McKay, who had been broadcasting from the Olympic Village for 14 straight hours, summarized the tragic outcome of the botched rescue with the words “They’re all gone.” For the first time in history, the Olympic Games were suspended, for 24 hours, in tribute to the murdered athletes.

Any time someone wants to commemorate the wrong done to Jews, the Palestinian terrorist lovers get angry. Because of course, people commemorating these wrongs will quickly join up the dots between the perpetrators of the 1972 massacre and the perpetrators of the October 7 massacre, not to mention the numerous Palestinian murders of Jews in between.
Palestinian terrorists and their fanboys have an image problem: they desire the murder of Jews, yet they're also trying to convince gullible Westerners that all of the Palestinians are hapless victims and that the Israelis are the real monsters. The problem is, their love for murdering Jews is so great that the Palestinian terrorists go to the most extreme lengths to commit murder and other crimes against humanity, and the Palestinian terrorist lovers rejoice openly in these crimes. They want to convince Westerners that they are innocent and civilised, but if people commemorate the Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorist attacks, it will become clear that the so-called victims are extreme savages and that everyone's favourite scapegoat, Israel, is the real victim.
In that case, the pro-Palestinian movement runs the risk of losing Western support. The anger and violence that the pro-Palestinian movement has directed towards Holocaust memorials, memorials to the victims of October 7, and now memorials to the victims of 1972, is a reflection of their panic. If Westerners wake up and recognise that this pro-Palestinian cause is morally decrepit and inherently evil, as it has demonstrated by repeatedly rejoicing in the murder of Jews, then the psychological grifting is over.

How do you think of yourself as a "progressive" while supporting the right wing jewish extremist government of the criminal ethnostate of Israel ethnically cleansing Palestinians with American bullets
It's genuinely beyond my comprehension how you can still consider yourself to be on the side of the oppressed and downtrodden of the world.
those are a lot of words for “I’m antisemitic, and I like to project onto other people.”
Edit: I just found out your tumblr name is literally celebrating a fucking terrorist attack and massacre at 1972 olympics. Because you’re that rabidly antisemitic.
After reading the whole article, I have to say: calling you an absolute scumbag is an understatement.
Disrespectfully, go fuck yourself.

So... the sports scene seems to be doing great, huh?
They suspended Russia, the country that initiated the invasion and killed civilians, while allowing Ukraine - the country invaded and attacked - to compete. However, Israel is also attacked and invaded with over a thousand of our civilians brutalized and we're the ones to get banned now? Okay. "Safety concerns" my ass.
The sports scene is becoming increasingly hostile to Jews and Israelis, which is nothing new. We've seen hostility such as this before, with the most notable occasion being Hitler's ban on Jews in the Olympics. The excuse for banning us this time around is "safety concerns." A transparently bullshit claim that can be seen through just by looking at these same organizations' reactions to Russia and Ukraine. As I mentioned earlier:
They suspended Russia, the country that initiated the invasion and killed civilians, while allowing Ukraine - the country invaded and attacked - to compete. However, Israel is also attacked and invaded with over a thousand of our civilians brutalized and we're the ones to get banned now? Okay. "Safety concerns" my ass.
The rock climbing ban is particularly egregious because it highlights a trend that has been present since the Munich Massacre in 1972. They claim our safety is paramount to them, but when our lives are actively endangered they do nothing to actually protect us. They erase us from public life because it's easier for Jews to just not exist than it is for gentiles to unlearn and prevent antisemitism. They are not interested in doing the work to ensure our inclusion and safety, as demonstrated by the appallingly awful German response to the Israeli Olympics team being taken hostage.
Israelis are intimately familiar with security concerns due to terrorism. What confounds me is the complete apathy and lack of interest in improvement that the rest of the world shows when our lives are threatened. The Munich Massacre marked a turning point in how Israel conducts counter terrorism and national security, but the rest of the world clearly didn't care enough to change. On the contrary, they seemed actively invested in preventing us from securing our safety. The U.S. actually warned the man who orchestrated the attack that Mossad agents were after him. Not-so-fun-fact, did you know that the CIA were best buddies with the PLO?
Clearly, gentile society has drawn an invisible line in the sand and if Jews cross it we are excluded and browbeaten. Things might not be as severe as they were during Hitler's tyranny, but the climate might be shifting in that direction again. This incident is not sports, but has the potential of crossing over: Iceland has threatened to pull out of Eurovision unless Israel is banned from competing. They aren't citing security concerns as their reasoning. Instead, they are fully stating that they are politically opposed to Israel fighting against Hamas and that it goes against Icelandic values.
Apparently, the innocent Israeli lives lost are not important enough for Iceland. I wonder how they would react if a terrorist organization invaded their country, mass raped and slaughtered 1,200+ people, and then kidnapped hundreds more. This is the standard Jews are held to. We are banned when we defend ourselves.
(source)
I don't really know how to end this post, other than by saying, this is why I will always be supportive of things like the Maccabiah Games. Institutions led by Jews, for Jews, provide us with places to go when we cross the invisible line. I meant to publish this around mid-January, when the news about the climbing team broke, but I got side-tracked by antisemitism in another industry because it is infesting everything now. I completely forgot the original conclusion I had for this. I don't want to fear-monger. I'm really tired of envisioning such a bleak future for my people, but I can't help noticing how quickly things are escalating and how easily all of our supposed allies are trying to restrict us from everything, take control over our government, and dictate the future of our people for us.
We really only have each other, and it's essential we maintain the strong bonds that allow for us to persist the antisemitism constantly thrown by a world that has never forgiven us for surviving.

Adidas decided to pay tribute to the shoes that were first launched at the Munich Olympics in 1972... the same Olympic games during which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists in a massacre- and who was hired to model these shoes?! Bella Hadid, the person supporting Hamas terrorists who committed a massacre in Israel just 9 months ago... simply unbelievable, a hypocritical and disgusting campaign!

Adidas was founded by brothers and Nazi party members Adolf and Rudolf Dassler in Germany in 1924.
Ynet, which accused Adidas of displaying “insensitivity” in its collaboration with Hadid, reported that the campaign will not appear in Israel. The campaign has already been criticized by the state of Israel’s official account on X/Twitter and also the watchdog group StopAntisemitism.org.
The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) demanded that Adidas apologize and drop Hadid from the campaign, calling her inclusion “an affront” to the memory of the Israelis murdered at the 1972 Olympic Games.
“For Adidas to choose Hadid, someone who is constantly baiting Jews and attacking the Jewish State, is bad enough, but to have her launch a shoe commemorating an Olympics when so much Jewish blood was shed is just sick,” CAM CEO Sacha Roytman Dratwa said in a statement. “We call on Adidas to apologize for this decision and drop Hadid immediately. Otherwise, it will be seen as a direct attack on the memory of the 11 Israelis who were murdered while merely trying to participate in the Olympic Games.”
He noted that the Israeli delegation heading to Paris for this year’s Olympic Games has already been threatened with violence, adding, “Thoughtless actions like this only embolden Israel haters and antisemites.”
Social media users also attacked the German brand for hiring Hadid to be the face of a campaign tied to the deadly Munich Olympics where Israelis were murdered, describing the decision as “simply unbelievable, hypocritical, and disgusting.” One user on X/Twitter, wrote: “Adidas just ruined their name and reputation with one disgusting decision.”
Adar Rubin, from the grassroots movement #EndJewHatred, said, “By partnering with Bella Hadid, a blatant Hamas defender, Adidas has officially shown that they learned nothing from the Kanye West fallout by once again embracing Jew-hatred.”

Short Essay: Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
by Rachel Powers
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is a story about Emmi, an older German widow, and Ali, a young Moroccan immigrant. The two meet by chance in a bar and ultimately fall in love. Taking place in 1970’s Germany, this film highlights the racial tensions during this time. Emmi and Ali struggle with judgement and ostracization from the people around them, as their friends, family, and society at large do not agree with or condone their relationship.
Directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul was released in 1974. With an estimated budget was 260,000 DEM, it made $16,243 worldwide. Fear Eats the Soul was Fasbinder’s first international success, which allowed him to pursue larger budget films and explore different kinds of filmmaking. He completed 44 projects from 1966 to 1982, when he died at age 37. Many of Fassbinder’s films were focused on exposing the moral hypocrisy of German society.
A historically significant event shortly before Ali: Fear Eats the Soul’s release was the Munich Olympics Massacre in 1972. This was the first Olympics hosted in Germany since 1936’s games in Berlin. In 1936, Adolf Hitler used the Berlin Olympics as “a platform for the propagation of Nazi ideology” and there was “blatant racism and anti-Semitism that characterized the Games.” The 1972 Olympics in Munich was meant to “offer the world a contrast to the horrifying spectacle of Berlin.” Unfortunately this event became memorable for other reasons. At the Munich Olympics, eight members of Black September, a group affiliated with the Palestinian Liberation Organization, infiltrated the games in order to take the Israeli Olympic Team hostage and demand the release of hundreds of prisoners being held in Israel. This did not go according to plan, and resulted in the deaths of 11 of Israel’s Olympic team members, 5 members of Black September, and one German policeman.
This event undoubtedly increased racial tensions during this time, which is highlighted in Ali: Fear Eats the Soul. Before making their relationship public, Emmi tests the waters to see how people will react to her relationship with Ali. Her coworkers react horribly to the topic of immigrants. When Emmi tells her family about her relationship with Ali, her son kicks in her television screen. The neighborhood grocer refuses to serve Ali when he comes in for margarine. Emmi’s family stops speaking to her, she is ostracized at work, and the only person she has left is Ali.
As an immigrant in this environment, Ali was already exposed to racism and mistreatment by most Germans. The judgement that he received from his close circle about his relationship with Emmi seemed to be more about her age than her race. His friends said that it would never last, but they let Ali make his own choices and were not nearly as harsh as the people around Emmi.
Fassbinder captures these themes in the look and feel of this film. His composition frequently uses walls and doorframes to box the characters into the frame, where they are alone and isolated.
“Fassbinder borrows from Sirk the technique of framing shots so stringently that the characters seem fenced in, limited in the ways they can move. He’ll lock Emmi (Brigitte Mira) in the foreground and Ali (El Hedi Ben Salem) in the background in such a way that neither could move without leaving the frame, and make you aware of that: He’s saying visually that they are locked into the same space, without choices.” -Roger Ebert
This image shows how Fassbinder uses the door frame to confine Ali and Emmi, giving the viewer the sense of viewing a private, almost secret, conversation. This boundary also foreshadows the limits that their relationship will have in the future.
The composition of this shot shows Emmi and Ali at a cafe, with every chair around them empty. The empty chairs symbolize the isolation and abandonment that they have experienced because of their relationship.
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is unconventional, especially for its time. The story is not familiar, as the relationship between Ali and Emmi was very much against the social norm - and still is. The story is easy to understand, although the viewer must have a willingness to understand it on a moral level.
“Fear Eats the Soul is urgent and contemporary: it means something relevant in 1974, and in 2017.” – Peter Bradshaw (2017)
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is just as important now as it was in the 1970’s. It is not simply the love story of an unlikely couple, but a reflection of the prejudices in race, age, and class that still exist in society today.

The Olympic salute is a variation of the Roman salute, which was also famously adopted by fascist groups. They stopped using the salute after World War II.
After the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympics, IOC president Avery Brundage addressed the crowd at the memorial: "Sadly, the greater and more important the Olympic Games become, the more they are open to commercial, political and now criminal pressure. The games of the 20th Olympiad have been subjected to two savage attacks. We lost the Rhodesian battle against naked political blackmail." The reference to Rhodesia was in response to the country being banned due to racist policies.

Bella Hadid breaks silence on Adidas campaign linked to 1972 Olympics
Bella Hadid has reacted to the controversy surrounding her involvement in an Adidas campaign that has been withdrawn after criticism, Sky News reports.
The American supermodel was the face of a campaign featuring updated trainers from the 1972 Munich Olympics – the games where 11 members of the Israeli team were killed by Palestinian terrorists.
Adidas apologised to the model after reports emerged that Hadid was planning to sue them.
Hadid, whose father is Palestinian, has been a vocal critic of Israel’s actions in Gaza during the war with Hamas, and recently donated $1 million to help Palestinians along with her sister Gigi Hadid.
Now the 27-year-old model has broken her silence, saying she was unaware of the historical context and “would never knowingly participate in any art or work related to a horrific tragedy of any kind.” She wrote on Instagram:
“I am shocked, I am upset, and I am disappointed in the lack of sensitivity that went into this campaign. Had I been made aware, from the bottom of my heart, I would never have participated.”
She said her team and Adidas “should have known” and she should have done more research and “spoken up.” Hadid also added:
“While everyone’s intentions were to make something positive, and bring people together through art, the collective lack of understanding from all parties undermined the process. I do not believe in hate in any form, including antisemitism. That will never waiver, and I stand by that statement to the fullest extent.”
The Munich Massacre
During the 1972 Games, Palestinian terrorists from the militant group Black September infiltrated the Olympic Village and kidnapped members of the Israeli team in what became known as the Munich Massacre.
Eleven members of the Israeli team – five athletes and six coaches, as well as a German police officer and five terrorists – were killed in the incident, which ended in a failed rescue attempt.
The SL 72 campaign attempted to revive the “classic” running shoes first created for Adidas athletes at the Munich Olympics. The adverts, which appeared on Adidas platforms and on a billboard in Times Square, showed Hadid wearing the trainers while holding flowers.
Everyone blamed Adidas
The American Jewish Committee said Adidas used a “rabidly anti-Israel model” for the campaign, which they said “is either a massive omission or deliberately inflammatory.”
Hadid condemned the link between the “liberation of the Palestinian people” and the anti-Semitic attack, saying, “Palestine is not synonymous with terrorism, and this campaign inadvertently emphasised an event that does not reflect who we are.” She also said:
“I am a proud Palestinian woman and there is so much more to our culture than the things that have been equated over the past week. I will forever stand by my people of Palestine while continuing to advocate for a world free of antisemitism. Antisemitism has no place in the liberation of the Palestinian people. I will always stand for peace over violence, any day. Hate has no place here, and I will forever advocate for not only my people, but every person worldwide.”
After pulling the adverts, Adidas said in a statement to Sky’s US partner network NBC News:
“We are conscious that connections have been made to tragic historical events – though these are completely unintentional – and we apologise for any upset or distress caused. As a result, we are revising the remainder of the campaign.”

Check out the Munich Massacre. It happened during the 1972 Munich Summer Olympic Games. I know you don’t want to hear about it that.
I want more people to know that while the Palestine Olympic team consists of only 8 athletes, at least 69 Palestinian Olympic athletes have been killed since October 2023. This includes athletes who were going to compete in these games and retired athletes such as Majed Abu Maraheel, the first Palestinian Olympian, who died of kidney failure in a refugee camp product of lack of medical treatment.
Remember them during these games.
