The MV was filmed in Hungary., in an abandoned plant, Kelenföldi erőmű, and on the Hungaroring racetrack (src).

The female character is played by Pasha Harulia (Instagram).

Tanu Muiño, the MV director, explained in an Instagram post that the MV is inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet. Several fans noticed similarities between the MV and the movie Romeo + Juliet. Baz Luhrmann, director of the movie, himself acknowledged the inspiration. You can refer to Lyna's thread for a more complete analysis.

The background is decorated with graffiti and posters referencing both Romeo + Juliet and the lyrics.

The limousines all have the same type of plate, from X001 to X014.

As It Was was released on April 01, 2022, a little over a month since the ruzzian full-scale invasion.

I remember when I listened to it for the first time. I was on a train from Barcelona, where I fled the war, to Badalona, a nearby town where I'd got the job. Beautiful places. The train line R1 that goes along the seashore. And the mountains on the other side. Beautiful views.

The way I couldn't see any beauty at that time...

I remember the tears instantly started to appear in the corners of my eyes. I know the song is about the pandemic and generally life metamorphosis. But the way life in my country and my own life just became not the same As It Was..

Changes are painful. But the scale. And the cruelty. It just hit differently. Right time and the emotion so overwhelmingly on spot.

I listened to the song once. I didn't get back to it for a while. It was too painful.

Then I discovered that the director of the music video was Tanu Muiño, a Ukrainian. And it was shot on February 23-24, 2022. Right at the time this fucked up full-scale invasion started. What were the odds?!?

Coincidences are not random and in a strange way, we're all in this together...
