To anyone who has read this fic over the past few years thank you so much, I hope this gives you a satisfying conclusion to this particular story, one that kept me sane during lockdown and one I know gave me the privilege of being a comfort read for a lot people.

Personally, I feel any word you write is one more word than you started with, each word is a step in the right direction. Even if you delete that word to replace it with something else, some different, something better it's still that positive step, you wouldnt have changed that word for something better if you hadn't written it down first. Don't beat yourself up for what you haven't written, feel proud for what you have managed to write.

Translating thoughts to legible words is hard. It's bloody difficult to manage when you have all sorts of other things on your plate, on your to-do list, on your 'things I am willing to put up with today' collection.

So just write and enjoy it. Even if it's a single sentence. You created that, you translated that, you captured thoughts and guided them on to your page.

Be proud.

The Hound of the Baskervilles: Breaking the Curse

As established, I am a shameless fluff-monger. I loved the Jeremy Brett version of the Hound of the Baskervilles, it was so atmospheric but all the non-evil characters were played so likeably. I was really rooting for Sir Henry and Beryl, their lingering gazes at the end promised these two were clearly still in love despite all of horror and plotting they'd survived and something romantic would happen between them, unlike in the canon of the book!

So I decided to write it. And make it as fluffy as I could because it's Christmas and I want these characters to be happy, they've been through so much!

Read this as a coda to the story if you too, like a happy ending!

Script writing-a surprising turn of events

So, I had really bad writers block. REALLY BAD. Life kept life-ing at me hard and I hit a very nasty patch with work.

It's taken me a while to come out of it. Three YEARS in fact. The main thing that got me out of this dearth of writing ability was, surprisingly to me, ASMR stories performed on YouTube. I got inspired to write again.

I finished Night Terrors for The Mechanisms fandom which I started in 2020 back in LOCKDOWN, and I've worked on a bunch of other WIPs since, about 60K words since July all told.

It's been BLISS.

So, I thought I'd try my hand at writing scripts for ASMRists and Voice Actors to have a go at if they wanted to since it was what community which inspired me so much.

Long story short, someone has picked up my scripts and run with them!

I am a sucker for Hurt/Comfort and a full on plot. So I started writing a series about a Vampire Hunter who, when annihilating a nest of vampires stumbles across a newly turned vampire, one who has never fed from a human and doesn't even know they're a vampire. They were taken and turned against their will. The hunter decides not to kill them but help train them to be a vegetarian vampire, feeding off animal blood and so completely reducing their threat to the population. There's just been too much killing and the new vampire is very young, a first year university student.

This will be a multi-part series, fully platonic -I've got no interest in writing romance and I am rubbish at it! This is very much a developing found family, parent and child relationship where they really start to care for each other, especially when the plot kicks off.

Paradox VA has performed the first two in this series and I am THRILLED. I never expected anyone to pick up and perform my work, let alone someone who's really done it justice! He's a new VA so if you are interested please have a watch, like the video if you enjoyed it and subscribe to his channel, he's been kind enough to lend his time and talent to my stuff so the least I can do is promote it shamelessly!

3 and 4, please?

3) I definitely jump about with my orders of stories, I rarely write a story in order start to finish, chapter by chapter. I usually work in a big document and work on different bits as inspriation and ideas hit. Like, for my current story 'Surprising Salvage' I've written the ending and large chunks of chapters and now am working back and filling in all the gaps!

4) I very much outline, I tend to start with a rough plan of starting at A finishing at Z and hitting key plot points along the way but a lot of the content of conversations and general actions between characters just sort of happens, like I tend to hear the characters talking and I just write it down. So there is a structure and plan but how I hit the all the plot points and actually get there is usually pretty organic, it just sort of flows and happens!

So, I forgot to say on here that I added chapter 5 to this 'The Mechanisms accidentally accquire a child survivor of a massacre and it turns out the crew (and surprisingly, especially Jonny) turn out to be half decent guardians.'

Basically this is the origin fic of the 'Hello Ladies' Tumblr Chat Group collectively created female child OC, 'Lily of-many-names' who joins the crew of the Aurora!

Chapter 6 is coming, everyone is just being extra chatty and it's taking a while to get everything down in order. I'll hopefully be posting it soon!

This is effectively one of my own coping mechanisms (!) To dealing with lockdown alone-it's been 2 months and counting. Really, REALLY missing hugs now!

So I shall live vicariously through these characters!
