May 14th- Drive from Porto to Lisbon
Our hotel in Porto left a lot to be desired: the shower splashed all over, the bathroom smelled of sewer, the room was small but the owner couldn't do enough to make us happy. Breakfast was good and we had enough to make sandwiches to take in the road. We decided to take the coast route to Lisbon to visit the famous Atlantic beaches. The biggest wave, 100 ft, ever was surfed in Nazaré in October 2015 so that area has become a surfing heaven. It used to be a fishing village but. Ow caters mostly to tourists and supposedly it is packed in the summer. There are many apartments and rental homes as well as a nice boardwalk by the beach. This boardwalk is covered with traditional Portuguese design which is made of little marble tiles set one at a time. Some of the designs can be quite elaborate. I was looking forward to seeing the ladies in " the seven skirts" (traditional attire) but there were nowhere to be seen. The day started nice but the dark clouds followed us and we were caught in the rain in Nazaré. We were lucky that we had our sandwiches which we are in the car. Our next stop was Peniche, also a well known surfing beach. It can not be seen from the road. People climb wood stairs on sand dunes to get to the beach. It is absolute huge, extending for miles, with fine, white sand. There were surfers on the water, but the waves dint look that great. There are many apartments and what appear to be condos and beach houses, all geared to the tourists. The next stop was Praia de Areia Brancas (White Sands beach) which in my opinion, is the nicest of them all. The drive to the beach is quite steep. The beach is surrounded by a promenade with several restaurants, bars and ice cream parlors. Since it was Sunday's there were quite a few local families walking in the promenade. Mr Bob ordered a hot dog which didn't look like any hotdog I 've even seen. It looked more like a Bratwurst with a slice of cheese and skinny fries on top. Somewhere between the beaches and Lisbon we went through a toll booth but we didnt realize that we were supposed to take a ticket . When we reached the next booth, the cashier told us that we owed €48 for the ticket we didn't get!!! Nothing we could do. From now on we are stopping on every booth! Driving into Lisbon was a breeze but driving the narrow streets with traffic and pedestrians is a nightmare. Streets are usually one way and are shared with trolleys and buses. It took us a while to find our hotel in spite of the GPS. When we did, the street had cars parked on one side and the sidewalk in another. Our car barely fit. The parking garage was another adventure; it is so narrow that cars barely fit. Bob couldn't park the car!! Fortunately a young man, employee of the hotel, parked the car! I don't know if we'll take it out again!!! The hotel is in the middle of town and is very nice, definitely a cut above our usual place. We were offered a complimentary drink, which we needed!!!

Late posts from wor Franny
Franny
Location - Lisboa, Belem (last night)
'I fucking hate Rainbows me' - Hizzy
Moods
Hizzy - canny
Nicky Whitaker - excited about getting the boat
Amber - delirious and giddy
Marcus - ambiguous
Spuddy - focused
Me - hungry
Our big time a-list celeb blogger 'Little Fat Marty', has been away, so just before she returns I thought it be time for a few choice words/big catch up.
About a week ago, we lost our angel Marty and welcomed in 'the lads', wor Nicky and Hizzy! Early eve meet up at Monte Real, hugs and hollas and a below par camping spot on wasteland near a crossroads. Blazing squad weren't even there. We get overly buzzing about a big cooking pan Hizzy has brought and 400 Yorkshire Teabags! Derishus! Back to the old school with fishy passata pasta. Another frosty night.
I'm getting addicted to porridge, or rather the things you put in to make it tasty. Chocolate, chocolate spread, bananas, crunched up biscuits on top, sultanas, cream. Sweetness! Blazing hot day, short ride to Nazaré. We all want to see the big daddy wave its famed for. We don't see the big daddy wave. Amber's Salon is open for custom, haircuts on the beach, beers on the beach, quick dip equals clean body, clean pants. Mad sea food risotto, some unidentifiable things in there, I swear me and Nicky had a human spine to try and work out how to eat. Banging camp spot by the sea. Early morning Michael Jackson singalongs. Billy Jean is certainly not my lover. Porridge! Woooopa! Peniche here we come.
Mahoosive steep climb to start the marnin, rolling hills, turquoise H2O to the west for miles! Obidos castle sits proud upon its hill. Solo lunch date at Praia da Gamboa, settle in at a cafe to wait for the others. Turns out my twiglet legs go pretty quick. So I wait some more. Write some shit, read some stuff, drink alotta coffee and eat a few more pastel de nata's. Reunited with the crew! Mouse outfit blasts out at camp setup, we talk a lot about possibly surfing the next day, ridiculous amounts of spicy sauce and rice, hot chocolate and chocolate. Dry night, no frost! Wtf!? Could it be it's FINALLY getting warmer? Bullsheeeet! Nestle in with Amber and Spudling for sunrise. Cuppas and that. Destination for ze day, Sintra.
BARRY BIG BOLLOCKS DAY!
Hizzy's war cry rings loud as he starts a cray cray steep climb up to the statue at Ericeira. 'BUNDESLIGA BUNDESLIGA'! More pastries for my ever expanding belly. Buy a pear from a very crinkly looking old woman in a layby. Her face looked like clay. Last ascent into Sintra is a beeeeeach. Christmas songs play throughout the whole place. On loop. Head fook. Beer in the last of the sun overlooking the castle. Team roll into town into the night. Treat is a hostel. It has an oven. Spuds famous last words of 'we should make the most of that oven' ends up with me and Marcus buying 3 pizzas, 30 fishfingers, 30 chicken nuggets, 2 bags of chips, 9 litres of beer, a loaf, ketchup and mayonnaise. High end cuisine. Man it tasted boomting. Taste! Pulp fiction to end the night. Snoozeville.
We get told off for not washing our dishes by the hostel owner. We get told off again for leaving our clothes all over the place. Then we proceed to eat all the breakfast food. I was feeling personally unsure as to whether the woman liked us. Fear not! She presents us with a platter of crisps just before we leave. Noice one!
Mooch about Sintra. Our first bit of 'sight-seeing'. Marcus is excited for the gardens. Christmas carols continue to play EVERYWHERE. We discuss whether the old crooners are the best. We're still divided on this. 'CHESTNUTS ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIIIIIIIIRE'. Start walking up to the castle, get distracted by a wee climbing wall, then some boulders. We never make it to the castle. Turns out a waiter at a cafe is more pissed off with the carols than everyone else. He looked like Vin Diesel. Portuguese Vin Diesel DOES NOT like carols. Afternoon ride to Praia da Adraga! What a belter! What a wee Willy won't he!!! Huge downhill to a gorgeous beach for sunset. We're already moaning about having to go back up it in the morning. Me, Spudling and Marcus get battered by the waves. Nicky and Hiz gaan for a seafood date. Turns out turbot is pretty pricey in these parts. Sleep out under the canopy of stars! Bivvytastic. The moon is like a flood light!
Early morning wake up. The moon sinks into the sea. I watch a man try to lift/push/pull up huge rocks in the sand. He doesn't succeed. I have no idea what he was doing. Spud scares the shit out of me and ruins my peaceful observing. Marcus has gained the name 'Moley' in the mornings. His wee head popping out his wee tent, fluffy eyes, still 90% asleep, not raring to go at all. In the following few hours he does fix his ukulele and undertakes some maintenance on his beloved Dragonfly stove. Football lad. Unplanned day off the saddle, walk to Cabo da Roca, Europe's most westerly point. Loads of selfie stick folk. Overpriced coffee. Amber wants cheeseburgers. Marcus loses his t-shirt. Shop run for curry stuff and beers. Upon returning we spot a rare sighting of Mr Nicky Whitakers delightful arse charging into the sea. Possibly the whitest arse I ever did saw!
We meet Marty in a few hours and head saaaf to what we hope is gonna present us with toasty temperatures and sleeping conditions that allow for less than 3 layers of clothing. Watch dis space.
Big loves
Franny

Patrick O Brian the Commodore
I-SUMMARY
Jack Aubrey wins the Ringle a Baltimore Clipper from his friend Captain Dundas as the Surprise accompanies. When Maturin does reach home with Sarah and Emily, he finds his young daughter Brigid in the care of Clarissa Oakes. He searches for his wife to correct her misapprehensions about his judgment of her and about their daughter. Brigid is not talking yet though old enough to do so. When Maturin meets Sir Joseph at their club, he learns that the Duke of Habachtsthal the third conspirator in the Ledward-Wray conspiracy is aiming back at both of them. The Duke’s influence has delayed the pardons of both Clarissa and Padeen. Maturin needs to secure his fortune and his family. Maturin asks Aubrey for the Ringle to move his cash and then sends Clarissa, Padeen and Brigid to live at the Benedictine house in Avila, Spain for safety. Brigid takes to Padeen and is speaking in Irish and English aboard the Ringle. Both Blaine and Maturin hire Mr Pratt to gather information on the Duke and to find Diana.
Aubrey gets orders to command a squadron of ships being assembled, a position which earns him promotion to Commodore. The mission to disrupt the African slave trade illegal since 1807 by British law. The second secret mission of the squadron is to intercept a French squadron aimed at Ireland, hoping for better success than in 1796-97. Long time friend Tom Pullings is captain of the flagship HMS Bellona, where Aubrey stays and Maturin is surgeon. The Ringle meets the squadron at the Berlings off Peniche peninsula and the squadron makes its way to Freetown to begin the first mission. The crews practice hard at lowering down boats and other naval skills. Aubrey is in a bad mood felt throughout the ships until Maturin tells him that Pastor Hinksey is to be married and set up in India. Aubrey devises a scheme to surprise each slave port up to the Bight of Benin not touching Whydah as news of the squadron emptied the harbour. They take eighteen slaving ships as prizes, first taking the Nancy and using the empty ship for target practice to good effect in Freetown. The success is not without loss of men to disease and attack. Maturin survives about of yellow fever contracted while out a few days botanizing on Philip’s Island with Mr Square. As he recuperates, they stop at St Thomas island for medical.
Caesar arriving from America.Caesar fails to arrive so they proceed northeast to Ireland. Aubrey informs his captains of his plan of attack and the Bellona attacks the French pennant-ship with the Thame sand Stately attacking the other French two-decker ship. The four French troop carriers and one frigate which are penned in a cove are handled by HMS Royal Oakand Warwick who join the scene of battle having heard the gunfire. The other French frigate slips away. Bellonas taking water and Aubrey is glad for the help. Maturin speaks to the Irishmen who so badly want the guns aboard the foundered ship. He and Father Boyle persuade them this is not the moment as anyone found with the French guns by the British will be hanged. After tending the wounded, Maturin learns from his friend Roche that the flags are at half-staff on account of the death of a minor royal. Maturin, pleased at the news proceeds to the home of Colonel Villiers, a relative of Diana’s late husband with whom she is now living, where he and Diana are happily reunited.

IV-Lesson Learn
‘‘Life is a Series of Lessons Learned Only Through a Series of Mistakes’’
V-Critique
I enjoy adventure type stories and Patrick O'Brian is very good at creating action. His detail about the ships, the jobs of the sailors and life on board ship all go to making these books highly enjoyable.

Anthony Peniche – The New American Dream?
The phrase, “Never judge a book by it's cover,” is a well-worn cliché. But like most cliches, it contains a grain of shop-soiled wisdom. Human nature is hard-wired to respond defensively when encountering a stranger. And one of the main methodologies we employ to judge whether or not a person is to be regarded with caution is his external appearance. If that person dresses or behaves in a similar way to ourselves, then we automatically assume they share an approximate world view or aesthetic. No matter how wrong we are subsequently shown in our judgement, the case remains that it is likely we shall continue to make such visceral evaluations whenever we find ourselves in unfamiliar situations.
When it comes to appearance, Tony Peniche is a seasoned expert. A serial entrepreneur, renowned fashion designer, and professional photographer just shy of 30 years old, Peniche has already achieved more than many others throughout their entire life. His brand of men’s clothing line, “Killing Beverly”, was showcased at the 2009 Portland Fashion Week, making Mr. Peniche the youngest designer ever to be featured at the event. “Killing Beverly” was an innovative, albeit controversial, brand allowing Tony Penich to explore the American Dream and what it means today. To this end, he set out to deconstruct the fake, materialistic culture that has become synonymous with Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. It also represented notions of love lost to this vapid universe, using bold cuts and graphics to portray an array of intense emotion. Mr. Peniche’s clothing is not just for wearing – it depicts real messages about the struggle between genuine creative originality and the corporations that try to reduce this creativity to nothing more than a price tag. Mr. Peniche quickly took the Portland fashion industry by storm, but his insatiable ambition pushed him to reach further than the border of his home state and country. In 2010, he accompanied some of Portland’s top fashion delegates on a trip to China to establish international relations between Portland’s designers and China’s manufacturers. Mr. Peniche was given the opportunity to display his Fall collection to the fashion association of China, which made Mr. Peniche fully realize the global extent of the fashion industry.
Tony Peniche is making entrepreneurial dreams come true, and has no intentions of slowing down any time soon. With his successful fashion line and production company, fashion enthusiasts should expect many more creatively enthralling ventures from Mr. Peniche.

😊 - - - #food #parisianfood #theflow #frenchblogger #igxcafe #behappy#love #lifestyleblogger #Lifestyle #humeur#happyblogger #paris #miam #instafood #instamiam #avocat #peniche #quaisdeseine #iloveparis (à Flow Paris)
