Punch Out Wii boxers if they were in band

Glass Joe- French horn

I had to make the obvious French joke with the French man. Also in my personal experience, French horn players were always the weakest in terms of playability so it’s fitting for glass joe

Von Kaiser- trumpet

I know trumpet players are usually associated with having big egos, but I think people tend to forget trumpets are very well-respected instruments, especially in the army. Since Kaiser is a veteran, it would make sense he probably played the trumpet

Disco Kid- tenor sax

Disco Kid is a very jazzy guy, so obviously he’d play one of the jazziest instruments. He’s not an alto because I feel like altos are usually more prissy, meanwhile tenor saxes can still jam but they get along with everyone

King Hippo- drums

This one is based on the fact King Hippo always bangs on his stomach, kinda like a drum. Plus he’s really huge, so I feel like playing the drums would be easiest for him, as he would have an easy grip on the mallets

Piston Hondo- xylophone

I put him on xylophone mainly for the xylophone sound effects that play right before his Hondo Rush. Plus he kinda has a whole “speed” thing going on (the Hondo Rush is a bunch of fast punches, also he runs faster than a bullet train) and normally you need to play the xylophone very fast to keep up with tempo

Bear Hugger- bassoon

All the bassoon players I’ve met were jolly and kind, and bear hugger is one of the friendliest boxers in the WVBA. Plus they’re kinda similar in way? Bassoons are usually seen as a “bass line instrument” and usually forgotten, but in a lot of pieces there’s usually a bassoon solo where it’s actually more important than it seems; which I feel is also how Bear Hugger is treated (dude was in the arcade PO, SPO, and punch out Wii I feel like he should get more recognition than he gets)

Great Tiger- bari sax

Bari saxes seem to have this sense of “knowing they’re better than everyone else because they’re skilled”. Great Tiger seems to have a bit of an ego similar to that, and so I feel like bari fits him the most. He would be a skilled player, but he would def rub it in

Don Flamenco- alto sax

Alto saxes are probably the most romantic instrument there is, and Don Flamenco is the most romantic boxers out of everyone. Plus, alto saxes all seem to have this flamboyance about them

Aran Ryan- flute/ piccolo

In his theme, the flute is very present, it practically carries the melody. I think Aran would be one of those guys that takes playing the flute and piccolo with pride, and would try to break the standard that only girls play those instruments.

Soda Popinski- tuba

Kinda like bassoons, tuba players are always so whimsical and chill. From what I’ve seen, Soda Popinski is usually depicted as a big scary Russian man, but to me it seems like he’s really kind-hearted, and only gets angry due to the fact he’s being drugged with all those sodas. I think Sodas wouldn’t mind he would normally just play the bass line, he’s just happy to be playing music

Bald Bull- oboe

There seems to be a running trend of big aggressive men playing dainty little instruments. It’s similar reasoning as Aran Ryan, Bald Bull’s theme seems to have an oboe carrying the melody, so ofc he’s on oboe. Plus I think Bald Bull does have the ability to be calm and composed, and I think playing the oboe (an instrument that super expensive and requires careful usage) would calm him.

Super Macho Man- trombone

Imo trombones players are the ones with the biggest ego (also the most annoying). SMM probably would just be ok on the trombone, but he will definitely start blasting as soon as he got the melody in a piece and would never learn to shut up.

Mr. Sandman- clarinet

Philadelphia has a history of very rich and jazzy music, and I feel like Sandman is the guy to play the clarinet over the saxophone. The clarinet is also a pretty important instrument to jazz music, and jazz is a pretty important part of black culture. Mr. Sandman is one of the less stereotypical boxers so he’s less connected to his Philadelphian culture, and I think playing clarinet is his way of getting more connected.

Little Mac- contra bass

This one is like Aran and Bald Bull, except the opposite. Since little Mac is shortest of the bunch, I think it’d be funny that he happens to play one of the biggest instruments that’s requires him to stand. Not only is it comical but also kinda fits with the whole underdog theme, despite his size he still manages to play the contra

Doc Louis- conductor

I put Doc as the conductor since conductors are usually just band members that retired, and got promoted to teaching band members. Since doc teaches little Mac to box, he would probably teach others how to play an instrument

Randomly realized I haven't done any of these yet, so uh, why not make my own list and some elaborations in the read more ^^ This isn't based on how hot they are, but what I think about them as characters! I know some of you prolly won't agree with me, but that's the fun of it, so please just be civil, even if I didn't rank your pookie high ^^

Everyone in the "Sorry, who?" category: I haven't played the arcade game or the arm wrestling game, so I know like nothing about these characters...and also I'm so sorry, I haven't managed to beat Hoy Quarlow in Super Punch Out yet, so I haven't seen the Bruiser Brothers 😭 Go Away: I have no...concrete reasons for disliking Hoy Qualow and Mr. Dream specifically, they just make me uncomfortable, lmao- Mr. Dream looks like a Sleep paralysis demeon standing ominously at the foot of my bed and I just don't like the way Hoy Quarlow looks at me-

Is Okay: Basically all the guys that I do like, but not enough to have a strong opinion about. I don't dislike any of these guys, they just don't stand out enough for me to really latch on to.

I'm not as smitten with Disco Kid as a lot of other people, I know he's really popular and I think he's funny, he's just not my cup of tea. Same with Soda Popinski, I like him and he has some funny moments, but not as much as other Wii characters.

And a majority of the SPO boxers are on here, but it's mainly cause of the SNES limitations that doesn't make them stand out as much compared to the Wii fighters. Gotta say, I'm not a fan of Masked Muscle fucking spitting in your face, like, that's just rude-

Pretty good: Just characters I like. I think Bald Bull's hilarious, like let the poor man relax lmao. And I actually think he's really fun to fight (I haven't played Wii yet, only SPO and Original, but he's a fun challenge)

I don't know why, but I'm just kinda fond of Dragon Chan, don't know why, I'm just endeared, I have no explanation, love the shimmies and the kicks and love the stupid haircut, got a weakness for the fluffy hair. Doc is just funny, like how can you not like Doc, he's a great character, I'd wanna be besties with him

PSA, Mr. Sandman is a bitchass women beater (Source: I'm a woman and he is constantly beating me in the original Punch out, because I cannot fucking get past him-). He doesn't have the most character, but I think the little bit of personality we see during his fights does a lot for him, he's just kinda cool and stoic. Granted, that kinda flies out the window in title defense, but yknow- xD

Narcis isn't this high because he's hot, he's this high because he's stupid, the way he acts in the ring is just so funny to me, he's such a shithead and acts like a complete gremlin and that's just really funny. He prolly has the most personality in SPO and that does a lot for him.

I don't think there is a lot to Piston, at least not for me, he definitely has personality, I just find him a little basic personally. I don't even know what to say about him, there's a lot of stuff to like, he's unproblematic, he's just not that exciting to me.

Really like: Glass Joe's like the Poster Child of favorite characters lol. I never quite saw the appeal as some other's do, but he is pretty funny and he has grown on me.

Super Macho Man: Literally one of the funniest characters, like bruh, what is his problem, I love him, lmao

Great Tiger: never understood why he wasn't more popular, like his personality is more subtle, but once you take a closer look there is a lot to him. He is a bit of a jokester, considering he sometimes swaps places with Doc, his fighting is very unique and obviously his voice is amazing

SPO Aran is a more controversial take to have him this high, considering he barely has any personality in SPO, but I've gotten attached to him and drawn him so much that he has just grown on me, I'm sorry, but I don't care, I love him-

Favorites: Von Kaiser's my favorite character of them all, his voice is perfect, I'm german so I understand everything he's saying and he just has such a charming personality to latch onto, both in Contender and Title defense. There is a lot to like about Von Kaiser, but small PSA: His first name isn't Von, it's part of his surname and basically just means to be of something

Don Flamenco: I already liked him a lot when I saw him the first time, but he is one of the characters I really grew to love with time, he's charming and hilarious and the whole thing of him wearing a toupee really added a lot to his personality Aran: Original funny guy, I can't be in a bad mood when he's on screen being his usual chaotic self lmao

really specific hc pile bc i have no excuses

sorry for dissapearing (for the 100837283th time) i was busy with health stuff, anyways enjoy some screeching

- Joe's hair is geniunely fucked up, he has dyed it thousands of times and still does since hes a brunette originally, he also uses a lot of hairspray to get his bangs to not get messy, hes pretty fickle about how his hair looks

- Aran sometimes scribbles random drawings onto the other boxers lockers with board markers, hes decently skilled at art and will usually whoever he wants to mess with, Mac sometimes joins him and they share a notebook with dumb drawings about the others

- tiger HATES cold weather, so he usually layers up extra during cold seasons and gets made fun of for it, he has the wonderful nickname of "lettuce wrap" thanks to it

- Hippo loves his crown with all his heart, he polishes it, cleans it, stores it in a safe place and will fight anyone that tries to take it away from him

- Disco kid and piston Hondo sometimes play dance dance revolution together in arcades

- Kaiser has a soft spot for old dogs, he used to have a old dog named "Saint" He adopted from a shelter, something about old dogs absolutely wrecks his heart

- super macho man used to eat lots of carrots everyday to get a natural tan but gave up since he started to despise carrots thanks to it, you can only tolerate eating 30 carrots a day so far

- mr sandman prefers to sleep in cold places, by that i dont mean "yeah ill just leave the window open tonight" i mean "im turning down the thermostat to -30 degrees celsius leave me alone to hibernate goodbye"

- bear hugger once fooled a bunch of journalists into believing he was besties with bigfoot, the entire thing went viral and people believed it for some time to the point where it went international and people were mailing him about it

- soda popinski smells like medicine since thats his drinks side effect, he used to hate it but hes used to it now

Random Super Punch-Out headcanons for each character

Gabby Jay: he tries to be hip and cool with the kids so hard he's literally the "how do you do fellow kids" irl but he's so charming that everyone finds it funny

Bear Hugger: tries to be hard but on the inside he wants to be free like he used to in wii (I headcanon spo to be the last game in the series) also his favorite number is 17 for obvious reasons

Piston Hurricane: Piston Hurricane is like a title given down to the family, so like I headcanon that spo hurricane is arcade hurricanes son and is carrying his legacy

Bald Bull: again my spo headcanon is that its after mtpo/wii so bull is just an old man thats why he sucks in this game he fell off like von kaiser lol

Bob Charile: biggest bodycount don't ask

Dragon Chan: besties with Bob and takes meditation classes with Bob, currently trying to learn the "rhythm" and also crushes on Heike

Masked Muscle: never washes his mask, something about his aura

Mr Sandman: got punch drunk like bull and fell off but not as hard

Aran Ryan: changed his ways and became more nonchalant and chill after his mom yelled at him for his insane blatent cheating, he loves his mom so much he changed instantly just for her

Heike Kagero: washes his hair 16 times a day, he thinks its the source of his weird dancing teleporting powers, he hates being called rapunzel because of it

Mad Clown: literally never drops the act, ever. Was wearing his costume at his grandpas funeral

Super Macho Man: after the wii title defense he got a bunch of hate frome everyone, and in a attempt to win everyone back over he started doing "exercises" and dancing around in the ring.

Narcis Prince: he pretends to help people but everything he says is a sneak diss or jab to make the person feel like shit without making him look too assholely because "he's just trying to help/pointing out the truth"

Hoy Quarlow: ik everyone headcanons this but Hoy teaches dragon chan. Also he sometimes learns from Bob and vice versa and overall everyone likes each other.

Rick Bruiser: rick fucking hates nick with a burning passion but still likes to talk with him and is always trying to get nick to speak to him

Nick Bruiser: nick doesn't care about rick but rick is the only person he can talk to because of his social issues so he indulges with rick sometimes

Birdo Mac/Peter Punch: simular to piston hurricane little mac or just mac is a new title of sorts that'll probably be passed down from trainer to trainee soon since little mac trains birdie, also hes ethnically jewish

*Ambiguously Canon:

Kid Quick’s age comes directly from Disco Kid’s age. While there is no canon information on Kid Quick’s age, or a potential connection to Disco, we know from external factors - like Disco’s data being labeled “kidquick” in Wii, and the fact they’re from the same location and weigh the same amount - that they’re pretty much intended to be identical. Therefore, I believe that their age would be the same, too.

Mario’s age comes from a 2005 interview with Shigeru Miyamoto.

Donkey Kong’s age can be guesstimated around 25 years old, since in Yoshi’s Island DS, Mario & Donkey Kong are babies at the same time, although DK is delivered by the storks slightly before Mario. However, we don’t know if Punch-Out’s DK is the same as that DK, and DK has never had a canon age confirmed, period. So this is guesswork.

Doc Louis’s age comes from a Japanese translation of some Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! merchandise, which you can find here. However, his age is never mentioned in any of the games.

WVBA Heavyweight Championship

My artistic talent has nothing to do with drawing people. If I can do a stick figure, I'm lucky... lol. However, I've always loved championship belts and, over many years, have grown a talent for designing and creating belt graphics. So, I've decided that I'm going to recreate all the belts seen in the Punch-Out games, in my own style, of course.

With that said, I present to you the WVBA Heavyweight Championship as seen in the Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! arcade games. I think I'm going to say this is the belt that Mr. Sandman holds in my History of the WVBA.

Time will Tell

Punch Out!! One-shot.

Just sharing this before heading off to bed. Very proud of it but also nervous as hell to share it because this is my first full length thing I've written for Punch Out.

This is very headcanon heavy. So, Some things to note are:

1: This takes place during the Arcade game time, or just a bit after (1987), so while ot features boxers from Wii, it's only going to be the ones who appeared in both Arcade games.

2: Pizza Pasta is in this as well. He is referred to as Giovanni.

3: Dragon Chan and Piston Hurricane do not feature in this, because I'm going off of actually timelines and if they are there current ages in the main timeliness (which is 1997 in my AU) then they would be just kids.

4: Finally, Dream and Macho are not the ones from The NES game or Super Macho Man. They are actually Sandman's and Macho's dads who were both precious champions.

Without further ado, here you go!

(WARNING: HAS MENTIONS OF IMPLIED DEATH)

Silence lingered throughout the locker room. None of the boxers dared to say a word as they awaited the results. The occasional whisper was made every now and again, and it was usually Giovanni trying to calm down an unsettled and overwhelmed child who might have just seen his father's end.

Joseph was one of many bodies in that room. He sat silently, hands clenched together, resting on his lap. He muttered something to himself, though no sound seemed to escape.

The possible thought of losing someone he saw as a friend, no, as a brother, brought too many unpleasant images to mind. All his life was, to him, nothing but disappointment. Nothing but loss after loss, missed chances and lost opportunities and rejection, from every angle...and now once again he was going to be faced with this feeling.

But he felt selfish for this feeling. He felt like he was the only one who was feeling this way when this was not true. Many of the others were feeling this too. If anything, some felt it more than he did. Giovanni being one of them.

The other man whom he knew would be affected by this sat alone in the corner of the Locker room. He fiddled with a chocolate bar in his hands and clenched it tight as he leaned his head back against the lockers in frustration.

Another small whimper was heard. Tired and weary, the men all turned to face the small boy in Giovanni's arms, who was currently rocking back and forth to comfort the boy.

"Shh, shh bambino mio, va bene. Papà arriverà presto. Papa will-a be back soon, I promise" he whispered to the child. Joe wanted to speak up and tell him not to lie. But he knew he was trying to keep the child happy...he just wished he didn't have to lie to do so.

The main door to the locker room opened. All the boxers stood up and eyed the entrance as the Referee made his way in. Everyone's faces were drawn with worry, fear, and panic, as the Ref slowly closed the door. His eyes were glued to the ground, and his hands gripping onto his elbows tight. He shuddered as he tried to get his words out, his voice quivering as he opened his mouth.

With a sigh, he finally spoke.

"Kid Quick….has died…"

The room fell into silence again for a while, until a faint exhale was heard from the corner. The man had stood up and turned himself towards the locker room doors. He did nothing for a while, but quickly smashed the right-side door and screamed in frustration.

Joseph felt his heart sink as he heard the impact. He brought a hand to his mouth as he choked on his tears, soon sliding down to sir on the floor. His legs tucked in tight, and his whole body trembling as faint sobbing grew louder with each second that passed.

Giovanni held his sobs back as best he could, but a few tears managed to escape as he leaned back against the doors and held the child close.

Soda grabbed his head in shock and brought his drink close to his lips. He took a quick swig of it before shaking his head in grief.

Hugger only stared in disbelief, which soon turned into sorrow as his eyes began to form tears in their corners.

Tiger was merely shocked by the revelation, seemingly lacking any of the past connection that Quick had with the others. Though he tried to show empathy towards the others, placing a reassuring hand on Hugger's shoulder, though it didn't do much.

Bull seemed to be the only one who refused to belief this idea. He shook his head and grabbed his elbows tightly as his gaze met the referee's. "Bu mümkün değil. Bu mümkün değil, Kahretsin!" he cried, covering his mouth slightly at his curse.

He looked stomped towards the Ref and grabbed the man by the collar. "HE ISN'T GONE! THAT CANNOT BE POSSIBLE!" he screamed, his voice trembling slightly, "H-HE WAS MEANT TO STAY WITH US FOREVER! HE CAN'T...HE CA-AN'T GO! NOT NOW, NOT EVER!"

Bull stood in silence before feeling his knees begin to collapse. His eyes welled up in the corners as he turned his head down. Tears streamed from his face and onto the ground as he lost grip of the Referee's collar.

The larger man knelt on the ground, silently sobbing to himself. A gentle hand touched him lightly on his back. Turning around, he saw Joe standing there with a sorrowful, but comforting smile. Bull gave a sigh as he leaned into the Frenchman's chest and continued to lightly sob. Joe felt his lip quiver and gently wrapped his arms around Bull, pulling him closer as he let his own tears begin to flow.

The only two who were not too overly emotional with the news were Dream and Macho, who stood to the side and gave a small sigh. Macho shed a small tear as he turned to face his friend.

Dream gave him a nod and soon made his way to the main door, patting the Ref on the shoulder to let him know he should step aside.

"We are all obviously distressed by this news...there is no question…" He said, quietly. He brought his hands together in front of him and sighed, "But we cannot sit in here wallowing in sorrow...right now we need to be strong...we need to...to try and be strong...for him"

"How can we be strong?" Joe asked. All heads now turned to look at him. "We just lost one of our own...a friend...a BROTHER! A FATHER! Mon dieu! How can WE expect to be strong now when we have lost…" He trailed off and looked back towards Giovanni.

He gazed at the boy that was cradled in his arms. He was tired, overwhelmed, flustered and upset...and for all Joe knew, distressed by hearing his father was now gone.

Recollecting himself, Joe turned to face Dream again. "I can't be strong...I'm sorry...but at this time I don't know how I can be strong...for you...or for him"

"It's not easy…" Dream said, patting his shoulder reassuringly, "...it's never going to be easy...but we have to try...for our sake's...for Quickie's...and most importantly for his son...we can be sad...but we can't let this sadness overpower us...Quick would want us to move forward with a smile...not to wallow in tears…"

The room murmured in quiet agreement, some were still quietly wiping tears away but tried to remain as strong as they could.

The Referee then slowly made his way in front of Dream, clapping his hands together. "I know this is going to be hard for a lot of you...but I do want to tell you that the Paramedics will be bringing his body through the lobby and putting him in the Ambo to be taken to the funeral home…" He trailed off as he looked down at the floor again, "...If you guys want to go say your final goodbyes, now is the time to do it...they're burying him tomorrow afternoon...once you guys do...You're all welcome to go back to the apartments and...and take the rest of the week off...Boss told me to tell you guys…"

The men all shared a look between each other and one by one, all stood up and made their way out of the Locker room. Giovanni carefully stood up as he held the boy tight. Looking back, he saw the man in the corner hesitate in moving towards the door. "You-a coming, Jerome?" Giovanni asked, The man gave a small, hesitant nod as he leant his hand against the lockers.

The staff and boxers of the WVBA all stood in the lobby as the Paramedics slowly walked through. On their stretcher, a lifeless body lay. The face deprived of color, and even with his boisterous and lively afro, Kid Quick barely looked human anymore. The Boxers all slowly approached the body, the Paramedics coming to a stop so they could each get a look at him.

Joseph took his hand and gently stroked Quickie's face. It was cold, and solid. It was hard to believe this corpse was his friend...his brother…

Gently, he held Quickie's hand and gave a small squeeze as a new set of tears escaped from his eyes.

"Mon ami... mon cher ami...I am sorry I couldn't save you in time...I promise I will carry on fighting for you, and I will take care of your boy...the way you took care of me...puisses-tu reposer en paix...tu vas me manquer"

Soon the other boxers came up beside Joe and said their goodbyes.

"Goodbye, ya hoser...Thank you for making this such a memorable year for me...I'll miss you…"

"Take care Old friend...be safe please...dikkatli ol"

"आप सुरक्षित रूप से अपने शाश्वत विश्राम के लिए निर्देशित हों...Thank you for everything…"

"Goodbye...my friend...I drink to you my good man...have a safe slumber, до свидания"

"Goodbye old friend...be safe…" Macho said as he backed away to allow the last three to say their farewells.

Dream closed his eyes and shook his head as he looked at the body. Unable to form words, but he didn't need to say anything. Everyone knew what he was thinking.

Giovanni stood solemnly looking at the body before leaning down and placing his nose on Quick's. "Goodbye my boy...I will never forget you...I promise I won't...te lo prometto,' Giovanni soon backed away to allow the boy in his arms to stand on the ground.

The young boy hesitated going near his father until he felt an urging hand. Turning to see Giovanni gently nudge him forward, the boy sighed and slowly stepped closer. He placed a hand on his father's head and let a tear fall down his face. Placing a kiss on Quickie's head, the boy slowly pulled away. "Goodbye, Daddy...I love you…" He said, feeling himself begin to choke on tears. He quickly turned to face Giovanni and ran towards him, hugging him tightly around the legs. The older man scooped the boy back up and held him tight.

The Paramedics soon began to walk again until they heard a door slam shut just to the left. All heads turned to see Jerome making his way towards the group. All the boxers stood aside to let him through.

Jerome examined the lifeless body of his friend and sighed. Grabbing Quick's hand like Joe did and bringing his free hand up to stroke his head. "You gave me such great times...such great memories...heck you gave us all a great time…." He started, "...I can't imagine being here if it weren't for you...you got me here...and you stayed by me all that time….There's never going to be another boxer like you...never gonna be another Kid Quick...never gonna be another brother...or friend...really quite like you...You're one of a kind...I think that's what I'm gonna miss most of all…"

Jerome slowly brought his hands back to his side, as he felt his eyes begin to water. He held his sides tightly and let out a quiet sob as he let the body go. "Goodbye My friend…," He said quietly, trailing off halfway through his sentence, "...I will never forget you…"

Joseph brought himself to Jerome's side and held him tight in an embrace. The Paramedics saw this as a sign to go. As the Boxers all watched their friend go out the door, a blanket was placed over top of him.

The lobby soon became desolate as all the workers began to disperse. The boxers soon followed suit, all giving one final wave Goodbye as they made their way back to the Locker Room.

Their friend was now gone...a brother...a father...all of it was gone…

Silence lingered again as the WVBA facility shut its lights off for the night.

Who knew how long until they once again shined as bright as they did tonight? Only time would tell.
