today i once again listened to this album and bawled my eyes out. especially “mother i sober”.

it’s kinda strange because i haven’t even been through a tenth of the trauma and experiences that kendrick describes in the album, yet it still has resonated deeper with me than almost any other album. i think it’s because it’s the closest i’ve felt to another human being through their music. the album is intimate and raw. the pain he describes, although the flavor of which is not always the same between me and kendrick, is relatable on an insanely deep level, and the way he speaks about it feels like you can share his pain and share your pain with him in turn. i guess that’s the point of it being structured like a therapy session—it becomes a two-way indirect therapy session between kendrick and the listener, a confession booth from both sides.

it is a very human piece of music. i love it deeply. it is my favorite kendrick album. i know the danger of celebrity idolization and parasocial relationships, so i can’t say i really will ever know kendrick lamar, but this album let me into his life a little bit, and let his soul further into my growth as a person. from this music, i love who kendrick is, not just as an artist, but as a human being.

oh yeah and his diss tracks are absolutely on the same level as “hit em up” by 2pac and “no vaseline” by ice cube. those tracks he made were absolutely murdering drake over and over. we love to see it

I'm honestly surprised Sauron didn't just pack his shit up and head on out after seeing into Aragorn's mind with the palantír. He would have seen Arwen and had a PTSD-induced panic attack thinking he was seeing Lúthien. He would have seen Galadriel still primed and ready to beat his ass. He would have seen Glorfindel back from the dead from killing his pet Balrog, also primed and ready to beat his ass. He would have seen Elrond, who is a horror all on his own just by existing.
