It's almost midnight here, I had an idea for a fic and thanks to Gabby and Via i decided to try and write it so here. And Alex and Gabby allowed me to share it earlier:

“Alex has 0- blood type. He's a universal donor, but he needs exactly this type and we have not enough supplies because of the earthquake. We will use what we have and other fluid to try and stabilize him, but you should be prepared, Mr. Buckley. I’m sorry,” doctor says to them and Tommy can see how Evan’s heart breaks in front of him. 

Evan’s kid dies and it’s all Tommy’s fault. He should have been faster. Maybe he shouldn’t have been inside at all. 

“W-what if we have the donor here? Can he make a direct donation?”

“We can do it, of course, as you're his medical proxy and for yourself will give us permission. Because ther…”

Evan grabs his hand pulling him hard closer to him so quick and hard Tommy almost fails, “I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU WILL SAY NEXT! That is his father and a firefighter. We have medical tests all the time. He has the same blood type. Get him on the line to my son and don’t let him die.”

Tommy’s pretty sure the pin can drop in that hospital hall, all of them occupied around the doctor , and everyone will hear that. Because it’s not possible, right? That Evan said …

“Captain Kinard hadn’t said anything about his relation before,” Doctor looks at him, but Tommy already gets his sleeve up.

“What he said. We don’t care what else you want to say. Get me on the line to ALex. Now!”

“Mr. Kinard, you’re dehydrated and …”

Tommy is close to seeing red.

“THEN PUT ME ON THE IV WITH FLUIDS AND GET ME ON THE LINE TO MY SON FOR FUCK’S SAKE!,” he closes his eyes, taking a deep breath. Exhales, “if you even for a second think I care about my life more than about his, you're mistaken, i will sigh anything you will give me in case I’ll die giving my blood to Alex, but you will get me to him, put me on the line and use all the blood dot you can find in me to save …” his voice breaks, “my son. Stop wasting time. Get. Me. To. Him.”

Doctor nods.

“Go with me. You and Mr. buckley. Others can join later. After donation.”

Bc it's too sad to write, but i want it out: Tommy's a captain and they have new probie. "Nepo-baby Buckley. Son of the Chief Buckley". And as Tommy the only captain who believes that the guy genuinely wants to be a pilot and saves lifes (he knows his father. He's sure the son is the same). And boy, it's so painful too look at the barely twenty year old boy bc he is like Buck from 1s, but hair and eye color are wrong, yet it's nothing. Because those details were deleted from his memory and it's as if he looks at the future he could have as a father. Teach his kid flying.

And the boy, he's really good. A little bit reckless, but he's kind and brave and never gives up. Even when everyone are too rude to him bc they think he's here just bc of his dad. And he proves and proves himself again and again

Eventually it's huge situation. All hands on deck and Tommy goes with the boy. And Alex saves him from the debris, but he's hurt really bad. Tommy barely keeps him alive begging: "kid, please I won't forgave myself if you...." His voice breaks "don't make me look your dad in the eyes so many years later just to break him so much worse, please, kid"

They are rushed to the hospital and it's a mess. Alex needs blood, but bc it's not so popular type, yet they already used a lot to many other victims, they have not enough. And Alex can have only exactly the same type. That's when Buck comes, hears it, takes Tommy's hand and drags Tommy with him to the doctor: "you have his father with the same type. Can you use him as walking blood bag?"

Doctor looks at Tommy with smt like "you don't have to..." But Tommy already gets his sleeve up : "as much as you need. Even if all"

And Alex is ofc ok, he sleep and Tommy sits with him and Buck and they keep tensed silence till eventually everyone from 118 and 217 who heard it like: "are you two gonna talk about the elephant in the room or not? Our popcorn is not getting fuller"
