The casting for the musical version is impeccably accurate

I'm confused as to why Jimmy is Mary's brother in this. I get she's with Bill instead but everyone looks so similar it's confusing.

It's nice to see mae in charge and not being abused however I feel like I have less reason to side with her so at the end when she flips she'll just flip rather than having any motivation.

Just to note I'm watching the colourised version because I needed visuals or I zone out lol, I love the different coloured smoke.

This really lacks details in the musical, I know it's because this is "realistic" rather than camp but the pacing to this is worse than our first run through of frasier last December.

I will also say that I can see how some Storyline have been merged but its a lot less easy to follow.

Wild to think people genuinely thought weed does this to people.

It feels odd not seeing from "Bill" 's perspective when he's high. Yes his name is going in inverted commas because I refuse to accept this version of events (I'm just being picky, ignore me)

So is the woman in purple meant to be like Sally? Just (thankfully) without the burning babies and not so subtle racist Storylines?

I miss the days when Mary was in control. That sounds weird but from the way he's grabbing he's either going to try to or succeed in assaulting her and I'm not fucking happy about it.

Mae is unsettling me with how quiet she is.

I will say the old five and dime scenes are much more bearable, plus it features more which is interesting.

Ngl I was struggling to stay awake during the court scene.

Oh so RALPH killed Jack? And Blanche is alive?

This isn't reefer madness istg.

So I'm willing to bet mae in the musical is like a mishmash of Blanche and Mae since Blanche is the one who gets Bill out of prison?

Something to ponder: did Blanche think she was on the ground floor or could she just not handle the memory of what happened to Mary?

Summary: not worth the watch, only put it on if you need a sleep aid, boring, slow paced, confusing, trashy ending, I will not be telling my children.

okay so here's what I saw the tv glow did so well. it is of course a trans allegory, but it does the trans allegory so skillfully and with so much feeling that even though I'm arguably cis it still resonated really deeply for me as:

YOOOOO!! I know I bullied a ton of people into watching Godzilla Minus One in theaters (and it was worth it, wasn't it??), but it's now finally available to watch at home as well!

Starting June 1st on Netflix, and for digital purchase/rental.

I cannot overstate how phenomenal this movie is. You can go into it with the highest expectations and it will still shake you to the core. It has such a dark premise, but is a story of profound hope and healing, and I personally find it incredibly cathartic. It is utterly stand alone and complete by itself, no prior knowledge of Godzilla needed.

Do yourself a favor and please watch it!

There are only three thoughts I find funny when thinking of Bayverse:

1. Optimus staying mostly chill after thousands of years of war against Megatron vs. Optimus tweaking after a few years of helping the American government

2. Galvatron seeing Optimus arrive to Hong Kong riding a fire-breathing, cybertronian T-Rex and being like "Nah I'm good actually-" AND THEN LEAVING

3. King Arthur getting help from Knight Transformers, who can combine to make a dragon, and a staff of alien technology yet somehow STILL losing to the Saxons

Honorable Mention: Cuba being cool with Transformers even though they are outlawed and actively hunted everywhere else.

Now that the Ithaca saga is out this is probably as good a time as any to confess that for the longest time whenever I heard someone online mention Epic the musical in passing I just vaguely assumed someone on tiktok had made a musical version of this movie from 2013, like the Ratatouille musical

honestly I really should have questioned that assumption when I saw someone post the lyrics "and if I gotta drop another infant from the wall in an instant so we all don't die, THEN I'LL BECOME THE MONSTER", but I just kind of went "huh, I guess they took some liberties with the source material" and continued with my day

Lisa Frankenstein was SO cute, the kinda movie I needed in high school (luckily I had May, which is a similarly "shes just like me fr" movie) and I don't normally like romance movies but this one made my heart feel weird afterwards.

Anyway, I think post-movie Lisa and May could and should be friends and sewing buddies.

I very much recommend watching Epic the Musical on Youtube.

I know a little about it! Mostly through animatics. I've heard all of "The Horse and the Infant" from ROTTMNT but all I really recall of it is the infant section I heard more recently in a LMK one. I've also seen "Get in the Water", male and female version, but I heard the female version first for an animatic of Hama that's now on Youtube (First link is tumblr, second is youtube).

Everything I've heard so far is a bang-up job! I just keep forgetting to actually check it out.
