The urge to make more ball gowns after Snow is strong!! But I have a serious space issue... 🤗 #top5moviegowns Give me floral. Give me pastel. Give me lace. I'm in. In no particular order: Top left: Audrey in Sabrina. It's sleek. It's elegant. The details and beading and contrast is just beautiful. Bottom left: Snow White's Swan gown from the live action movie Mirror Mirror. To be honest, all the costue and design work in this movie were jaw droppingly gorgeous! But I especially loved the animal themed ones in the dance scene. Top right: Belle's finale dress in the live action beauty and the beast. Yellow one was atrocious. But this one...So pretty. So flowy. Middle right: all the gowns in Marie Antoinette. But I especially love printed fabrics so the garden dress was one of my favs. Bottom right: Kaylee's big dress from Firefly, episode Shindig. Not a movie, but still one of my fav dresses. This pretty gown first appeared in the 1982 British television series 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔 when Susan Hampshire wore it as Signora Madeline Neroni. Initially, the dress had flowers sewn onto the front, but they were removed for the 2001 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒍𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒕, where Victoria Hamilton wore it as Queen Victoria. In 2003 the television movie 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒏: 𝑴𝒚 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒚 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒆 used it on an uncredited extra. . . . . . . . . . This red Tudor gown was designed for Glenda Jackson’s portrayal of Elizabeth in the wonderful 1971 miniseries 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝑹. 🤩 The gown was loosely based on a painting by William Scrots of Elizabeth as a young princess. 🎨   The dress went on to be used in the 2000 documentary 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅’𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏, 👸 where Imogen Slaughter wore it. Interestingly, the dress appears to have been made over to resemble a more accurate representation of Elizabeth’s gown in the Scrots portrait. The partlet was removed, pearls and jewels were added to the neckline, and new sleeves (from the coronation gown from 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝑹) were added, among other changes. 👗   The dress would be seen the following year in another documentary 📺 – 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒙 𝑾𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚 𝑽𝑰𝑰𝑰, where an uncredited actress wore it as Princess Elizabeth.   It was worn several more times over the years, but we cannot document them all on our social channels. This pretty blue dress has a fascinating history on the screen. 📺 First worn by Gemma Jones in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑫𝒖𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕 in 1977, it made its way to Cheryl Campbell in 𝑻𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 in 1979.
