#Mouthwashing ships

Thought I'd make a post about it but, I'm generally fine with a lot of ships, I don't ship things in a strictly romantic or sexual sense and I do it in ways that help analyze them as characters. I consume stuff critically or whatever the saying is, so please don't be coming into my inbox or tags being like "Oh my god you fetishize [z]" Like no I don't, first of all. Talking about a ship or liking a ship doesn't inherently mean fetishising the context of the relationship the characters have, I am putting them in glass jars and shaking them around so fucking hard they get a concussion.

You are welcome to block me over simple things, I will not be offended, the block button is there for you to abuse and use however you like. In saying that, please feel free to come to be with ship prompts, not just for Jimcurly or Curlya. I also really like Curlsuke, Ansuke and Swanya, and I will answer questions about Jimanya too! If you really want!! I am not going to shoo you away. If I don't like a ship or a request I will just delete the ask and move on with my life.

I personally, stay away from ships that imply incest or pedophilia, and thankfully Mouthwashing has neither of those! So can we all be adults, and understand nuance and hypothetical situations of characters being in a vacuum simply for the sake of wanting to smash them together and really no other reason than that.

This is MY echo chamber, you do not have to stay if you do not want to.

the wave of anti-shipping in the fandom is really disappointing. Like come on guys this game has been out for less than a month and there is already bullshit drama. For a fandom that puts emphasis on analysis and interpretation it’s really weird to bash other people who interpret the relationships of the characters differently than you do. A lot of these people love to act like shipping is inherently antithetical to analysis and only flattens the characters which is fucking crazy. There is a big difference between respectfully disliking a ship and claiming some sort of moral superiority over the people that ship it. I’ve literally seen people calling these shippers “typical misogynist fujoshis” and “yaoipilled” which is absolutely fucking insane. I have been in fandoms with similar dark content and themes and NONE of them have been this bad. Please do better Mouthwashing fandom.

What you said is pretty fucked up (with how the fandom is reacting to ships). No one deserves to be harassed or made with very weird term thrown at them.

There is some ships I do not 100% agree on but it's best to censor the tags of the ship and block the shippers with ships you do not agree on. Like there is a ship I am not comfortable on, its not unhealthy or has dark topics being romanticised it's pretty harmless but that ship isn't my cup of tea so I just censored the tag and if the ship still appears due to some I follow or mutuals with in the same fandom, I just block the shipper that they reblog from. I'm not going to harass that person who I follow/mutuals with and the person they reblogged from. It's just dumb and it's not fun for someone getting harassed over something they don't like.

Blocking and censoring tags are important no matter if the ship is unhealthy/heavy topics being romanticised ship or a harmless ship. Harassment isn't a way to go about these things.

I understand there are worries about ships in this fandom, however that's are much better ways to get these worries out without harassing people, without seem like they don't want people to have fun in a fandom and policing the fandom. Ship discussions exist and everyone is allowed to have their opinions.

It's very disappointing to see that kind of behaviour from any fandom.

The dead pixel analogy is probably my favorite thing about this godforsaken game. One of my favorite analogies in game history. Every time I think about it it brings a tear to my eye. The dead pixel. A flaw you could only see if you stood really, really close. A detail that's lost to anyone keeping their distance.

Anya telling Curly that the dead pixel always lives in the back of her mind, but Curly never got close enough to see it, it's the kind of writing that I don't see in games much anymore.

He was never willing to get up and look for it because it never affected his view of the bigger picture. He was never going to fix it because he never noticed it in the first place. Nobody cared about the dead pixel until they were standing eye to eye with it.

But that was all Anya ever saw. That one damn pixel. They never heard her until it was too late.

something a lot of people don't understand is that with anya x curly, this relationship ISNT portraying their in-canon relationship. it's portraying a relationship they could've had should Curly have apologized and protected her. And the same ppl that criticize it will turn right around and ship jimcurl, calling it toxic yaoi (it is literally an abusive relationship, and 90 percent of fics on it are jimmy r*ping curly)

I have nothing against dark topics in fiction or in fanfics. But I find it weird when people romanticizes dark topics in fiction/in real life and in fanfics. <----- (This is targeted at people who aren't survivors of those heavy topics and treat those survivors as a Sexual fantasy then a real person yk. Ik there are survivors who might do that as a unhealthy coping mechanism.)
