Yes, Manali is crowded. Over built. There's traffic. Why do people even bother coming here, some, year after year! Because Manali has the Beas that plays a ferocious background score louder than the honking traffic which can be heard everywhere. Because despite the crowded markets, there are beautiful deodar forests you can spend hours walking through. Because you just need to look up to see a white line atop a mountain, glowing like a flame. Because, from a a hard core trekker to those who are charmed by the Mall rd, it has something for everyone! When we reached Manali yesterday, we had the whole day to while away. Our work didn't start till late at night. We dumped our bags at the cloak room in the bus stand and started walking to Old Manali (through the aforementioned forest 🌳). And that's when it started raining. We waited, waited and waited some more. No signs of it stopping. Clearly, it was going to be a sunny day. We had just crossed the bridge and the @moustachehostel was in front of us. We went in to ask if the restaurant was open. The guys said it'd take a while, but Lakshmi aunty's dhaba next door would be open. "We just need to sit and get some work done. Where do you think we can sit?" We expected a reply like, we are full, our spaces are only for our guests, you'll need to look at the cafes above etc etc But no, none of that happened. Yes, they were full. But we were welcome to use the common room. Which has a washroom where we could easily freshen up. No problem. "But guys, first go have your breakfast, then you can go up and relax. Leave your bags here, if you want to." We spent and entire day there. It was raining bonkers outside, but we were warm and dry. And no, when we left a good 12 hours later, they refused to accept any money. Thank you, Moustache hostel, for being such kind hosts to us. And sorry, no pictures from the hostel. It was just raining a LOT. Things to do in Manali http://bit.ly/2YEG3S0 — view on Instagram http://bit.ly/2EvKE1w
