The Hunters in the Snow (1565) 🎨 Pieter Bruegel the Elder 🏛️ Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien 📍 Vienna, Austria
In the late 16th century, the Antwerp banker Niclaes Jongelinck owned one of the most important painting collections in the Netherlands. He commissioned Bruegel to create a series of six seasonal paintings, the last of which is shown here. The series also included: Gloomy Day (Early Spring; KHM, GG 1837), Spring (now lost); Hay-Harvest (Early Summer; Nelahozeves Castle, Czech Republic, Lobkowitz Collection); The Harvesters (Late Summer; New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art); Return of the Herd (Autumn; KHM, GG 1018). For the composition of this series, Bruegel, who today is regarded as the most progressive landscape painter of the 16th century, followed an older tradition that divided the year, beginning on 1 March, into six unequally long seasons. What all the compositions have in common is the so-called balcony motif, i.e., the depiction of a hill in the foreground from which an overall view of the landscape unfolds. On top of the hill a group of hunters accompanied by a pack of dogs is seen, making their way back to the village below. Their catch is poor: a single fox dangling from the spear the hunter on the left carries on his shoulder. To the hunter’s left, Bruegel added a motif that had been used forquire some time in book illumination for depicting the month of December: the preparations for singeing a pig over an open fire outside a building. The damaged sign hanging above them reveals the name of the inn: “dit is inden Hert”, meaning “To the Deer” – a well-aimed passing shot. Entertaining details, such as the people ice-skating on the frozen lakes, have contributed to the painting’s enormous popularity. However, it does not owe its significance in art history to its details but rather to the overall impression conveyed by the coloration and composition. With virtuosity and consistency Bruegel evokes the impression of cold: white, blue-green and brown are the dominant colours. The precise silhouette of the trees, the frozen mill-wheel at the lower right and the icy surface of the snow revealed by the hunters’ footprints blend together to convey the fundamental characteristics of winter. The scene is an invented, universally formulated landscape: the combination of a chain of Alpine mountains with Flemish architecture renders pointless any search for reality.

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Both the castle and town have been decorated with Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, and lights to help bring out the holiday spirits in everyone. With the drop in temperature summoning snow and ice it's truly beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Instead of one party hosted in the castle, the council has decided to go with a “Christmas Festival” theme for everyone in Krovs Castle and Krovs Town to enjoy once again.
Krovs Castle will be serving a buffet dinner in the decorated ballroom with all sorts of cultural delicacies provided by the councilmen. There will be Christmas music playing and drinks and hors d'oeuvres served by wait staff. The castle is also providing romantic carriage rides complete with cozy blankets that'll take them around the snowy and starlit property.
Notable nightlife options in Krovs Town like Cannabites and Euphoria are hosting parties serving holiday-themed drinks and food. The park has transformed into a romantic “winter village” decorated in snow-covered trees and fairy lights all around with ice skating and shop vendors selling sweets, hot chocolate, jewelry, art, and other trinkets and knick knacks for business promotion. Residents are also welcome to visit town for other winter activities like sledding, skiing, and snowboarding down the mountain hills.
Driving services between the town and castle will be provided by servants until midnight.
DRESS CODE
This is up to each individual character! Feel free to be as formal or as comfortable as preferred given that there is no official singular party this year. However, all residents and villagers should abide by the preferred dress code set by the holiday hosts in town. Naturally, holiday-themed attire is highly encouraged all around. This could mean anything from ugly Christmas sweaters, business casual or formal or playful suits in Christmas color themes, and/or sexy holiday-themed costumes.
Masters, staff members, and villagers all have the luxury of choosing their own outfits for this event. Claimed and purchased slaves should rely on their masters to supply them with whatever dress code standards they prefer for their claims. Unclaimed slaves will have attire chosen for them by the castle (players will choose these outfits themselves from the castle).
EVENT TASK
Post your characters’ Christmas outfits now that the event has begun! Make sure to tag these posts as #krovscastletask so we can all see and enjoy them.
OOC RULES
Our Christmas event will run until December 27th. In game, this event will take place on Christmas day (December 25th). Like always, players are free to choose if they wish to participate or not.
Players should only post starters that are related to the event now that it has begun. Please tag all open starters only with #event starter and #krovscastlestarter. Make sure to @krovscastlestarters as well! Our rules on open starters in terms of limits and response requirements still apply; please see here for information. Please do NOT use the #krovscastleevent tag so that players can easily find event information without starters clogging this tag. Keep in mind to reply to other open starters being posted. Open starters that are not related to the event will be reblogged after it has ended. Any starters prior to the event needing five responders will be advertised after our event ends.
Players can choose whether they would like to place prior threads on hold to focus on event threads, however, this is not mandatory. All we ask is that players communicate with their partners or drop a note in the OOC about their thread status.
Rules for masters, slaves, staff, and villagers still apply in both Krovs Castle and Krovs Town! This means anyone, regardless of their role, who misbehaves or breaks town rules will be taken into custody or fined by the interim chief of police or his officers. Those that break rules in the castle will answer to the enforcer.
Unclaimed slaves are advised to behave their best and follow any orders they’ll receive. They are allowed to wander through town this evening without escorts to enjoy all the fun properly. Police officers and guards who have volunteered to work the event are everywhere and will report all misbehaving slaves to the police chief or enforcer. After the event, all unclaimed slaves will be returned to the Undercroft where they’ll be given a decent meal and allowed to shower.
Claims and purchases will stay intact throughout the event and all individual collars and marks will remain as well. Unclaimed slaves and staff members will continue to wear their usual collars, which can only be taken off by a master.
Applications will still be accepted during the event week.
Our December full moon mini event will coincide with this event starting on December 25th (keep an eye out for a post in the tags with details). While Christmas ends on December 27th, New Year's Eve will begin on that same day and run until January 3rd.
Players, please LIKE this post so that we know it has been read.

Germany in January: Travel tips, Weather & More
Germany is one of the most preferred destinations for an amazing vacation. Apart from its world-class education, the country provides some magnificent travel experiences. If you want a calm, less chaotic, and budgeted holiday, then a visit to Germany in January when the Christmas celebrations are over is the perfect time for you! The snow and freezing winds transform Germany into a magical land. So, get your Germany tourist visa and embark on a journey full of dreams, festivities, fun, and cheer.
Germany Weather in January
Winter in Germany is from December to February. During the winter months, you can expect freezing temperatures and snowfall. The mountainous regions are much colder than the flatlands.
January is one of the coldest and darkest months of the year in Germany. The days are short, and the sun sets around 4 pm. The average temperature in Berlin, the capital city, is around 3 degrees Celsius during the day and -10 degrees Celsius during the night. The temperatures vary depending on the region you are visiting in Germany. Frankfurt is warm, while the northern coastlines and the southwestern areas experience moderate climates. On the other hand, the southern and eastern regions are colder. While there is significant snowfall in Munich in January, one can expect light showers in towns like Bremen and Hamburg.
Places to Visit and Things to do in January
Despite the chilly weather, Germany in January is the perfect time to experience the country's interesting art and culture scene and glorious history by visiting its museums and art galleries. Whether you want to explore the historical city of Berlin, visit the snow-capped Bavarian Alps, see the fairytale-Esque Black Forest mountains, or take a train through the snow-covered alpine villages and visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, you will surely be spoilt for choices.
1) The parks and botanical gardens that have greenhouses and butterfly houses in the cities are little slices of nature to spend a peaceful, relaxing day. Explore Frankfurt's Palmengarten, Wilhelma in Stuttgart, Biosphere Potsdam, or the Berlin Botanical Gardens.
2) Sleigh rides with huskies are offered in several parts of Germany like the Black Forest, Rohn, Harz mountains, and Lower Saxony.
3) Vineyards are impressive throughout the year. Walking through the vineyards with torches and viewing the illuminated valleys from higher altitudes are simply beautiful. These excursions are offered in Rheingau and Baden Wurttemberg.
4) Building an igloo and staying in one can be a different kind of experience.
5) Germany's weather in January offers excellent opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden, and ice skating in Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. Europe's major winter sporting events occur during this time.
7) The winter sky offers the brightest constellations. Visiting a planetarium in Berlin, Hamburg, Bochum, Mannheim, and Cottbus will be an enjoyable experience.
8) Castles have their own special charm in winter. With fewer visitors, you can feel like a king or queen and live like royalty in any one of the mesmerizing castles like the Moritzburg Castle near Dresden, Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, or the Hohenzollern Castle in Baden Wurttemberg.
9) Enjoy thermal baths in the spa town of Baden Baden or Cologne.
Travel Tips for Visiting Germany in January
There are certain prerequisites to consider while planning a trip to Germany in January to avoid any last-minute hassles.
1) Make sure to pack warm clothes to withstand the cold weather of January in Germany. Bring a woolen hat, thick winter coat, gloves, socks, and thermal innerwear.
2) Since rainfall may be expected, remember to pack an umbrella or a waterproof jacket.
3) Learning a few words of the local language might be helpful.
4) Ensure that you have kept aside a certain sum of money to spend on unforeseen expenses.
5) A good understanding of the social culture might be a bonus.
6) Explore the shopping zones on a weekday, as shops are closed on Sundays.
7) Stay aware of safety instructions at the various tourist spots.
8) Dry air in winter can leave your skin itchy, flaky, and irritated. Carry sunscreen and moisturizer to stay protected from the dynamic weather.
9) Even in the cold temperatures you need to stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water but avoid excessive caffeine intake as caffeine makes your body release more water.
10) Drink hot beverages such as hot chocolate, tea, and coffee, and have hot meals like soups and stews to keep you warm for a longer time.
11) Make sure to pack your medicines.
12) Plan the route of your travel well in advance.
13) Know the timings of every tourist attraction you plan to visit, as some tourist places may be closed in January.
14) The post covid scenario is different. Though Germany in January is less crowded, it is essential that you are aware of all the travel protocols.
With the holiday season over, the country is calm and peaceful around this month, with fewer tourists. You can avail yourself of great offers on flights, accommodations, and attractions to make your trip less expensive. As a holiday destination in January, Germany will provide you with a memorable holiday to cherish.

A Special Charade
Part 2
Anna wants to show Elsa something in the village at sunrise. But when they want to set off...
Elsa: "Have you changed anything here in the castle?" Anna: "Nothing at all! Would you like to see our room?" Elsa: "I'd love to, if there's time..." Anna: "Come along!" Anna: "You see? Everything unchanged. Here are our favorite dolls!" Elsa: "Oh, this room is full of wonderful memories!" Anna: "Yes. Remember when you iced the floor and we skated together?" WHIRL Elsa: "That was the only way to get you to help me clean up!"
More below the fold...
(Computer user: To see the full resolution pictures: right click on it and ‘open in new tab’)
Elsa: "And I loved to read you bedtime stories in this huge, cuddly bed! Anna: "That's right, stories! I have lots of new books in the library!" Anna: "Come on, I'll show them to you. You can borrow some if you like!" Elsa: "That would be fantastic. There are no libraries in the enchanted forest..."
Meanwhile the boys work on their charade techniques...
Kristoff: " Mountain? Wall? Oaken? I give up!" Olaf: "That was 'Snowman'. The game is too hard if I don't get to rearrange myself!" Kristoff: "Olaf, you're a snowman. You don't have to rearrange yourself to make this play!" Olaf: "Hey, right! Then I guess you're not so good at guessing!" Kristoff: "Let's just wait for Anna and Elsa. They should already be on their way here."
But Anna and Elsa have not even left the castle...
Kai: "Your Highnesses, Gerda has prepared breakfast. Should she serve it in the living room?" Elsa: "This book is so exciting!" Elsa: "We help her, Kai! I really want to see the kitchen again!" Kai: "As you wish, Queen Elsa!"
On the way to the kitchen the sisters stop at the art gallery...
Elsa: "You look like a perfect queen!" Anna: "I also had the best role model one could wish for!" Elsa: "Let's go on! I think I know what Gerda has prepared!" Anna: "Me too!"
In the kitchen...
Gerda: "Freshly baked Krumkake for your breakfast!" Elsa: "Mmm...you are as sweet and caring as always, Gerda!"
A few minutes later...
Anna: "Ta-Dah! Here we are again... With breakfast!" Olaf: "Good idea! Did you know that you can guess better on a full stomach?" Kristoff: "Did you like the statue?" Elsa: "Which statue?" Anna: "To be honest, we haven't even been to the village..." Kristoff and Olaf (simultaneously): "What?" Anna: "There was so much I wanted to show Elsa in the castle, that time flew by!" Anna: "Can we go now? We'll come right back and then we'll play our last round, I promise!" Kristoff: "Whatever. But I'm not sure if there will be anything left of this then."
When Anna and Elsa reach the main square, the sun stands already in the sky...
Anna: "Excuse me. You should have seen this surprise a little earlier..." Elsa: "Anna, that's incredible!" Anna: "I wanted everyone to know the story of our parents..." Elsa: "Now nobody will forget that the Northuldra and the Arendellians are friends." Elsa: "Mom and dad would be so proud of you!" Anna: "Without you I wouldn't be where I am now, Elsa!" Anna: "You have always supported me and Kristoff, Olaf and Sven..." Elsa: "Let's go back. I'm sure they are waiting for us impatiently."
The sisters run to the castle, but...
Elsa: "We are back!" Anna: "Are you ready for the last round?" Elsa (whispering): "Oh no! They are sleeping!" Anna (whispering): "They must have been exhausted after last night."
Then Kristoff opens his eyes...
Anna (whispering): "I'm so sorry, Kristoff. We let you wait too long!" Kristoff: "Don't worry, you needed the time for both of you..." Kristoff: "But...what about the finale of our charade evening?" Elsa: "Well, who says it has to be an evening?" Anna: "Ok! Ladies and gentlemen, may the first charade morning begin!"

My Favorite Video Game Levels
Here are five video game levels/areas that are memorable to me. The music, creative design, unique atmosphere and intrinsic value are all decisive factors that led to my ultimate choices.
5. Great Deer Yard Hotel
Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut - (2013)
The Great Deer Yard Hotel is filled with interesting facts about Greenvale and its historical hotel. If you enjoy game aesthetics, you will love Deadly Premonition. All of the main locations (e.g. the Hotel, A&G Diner, Sheriff's Dept, Galaxy of Terror and Muses Gallery) are carefully decorated and should be explored at a slow pace. The Great Hotel was the point in-game where I was wholeheartedly pulled into SWERY's mysterious world. The nods to Lynch and Kubrick in the hotel were pleasing, especially the picture of Snoqualmie Falls in York's hotel room. While inspecting each room, hallway, piece of art and furniture, I enjoyed reading about specific objects and finding a few easter eggs here and there. The meeting with Polly for breakfast is my favorite cutscene. The ridiculously long dining table and the nonchalant behavior/deadpan conversation is hilarious and charming. And...what better way to finish an early morning meal than with a hot, fresh cup of coffee?!
youtube
4. Ice Cavern
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - (2011)
Recently, I have noticed that I enjoy the colder seasons a lot more than the warmer ones. For whatever reason, winter levels intrigue and comfort me (Ando Prime in Star Wars Ep. I Racer, Mountain Village in Majora's Mask). The Ice Cavern is my favorite winter level and one of my favorite game areas of all time. The ice cold soundtrack is what really stands out for me. The shimmering keyboard bells and gusts of wind offer the sensation of arctic serenity. Besides getting the Iron Boots, there isn't much of a need to spend too much time in this mini-dungeon, but I really enjoyed the serendipitous atmosphere and the puzzles that were a part of it. I loved the sliding block puzzle and the incorporation of the Blue Fire. I was in awe of the final room, where you meet with Sheik in order to learn the "Serenade of Water". As the serenade plays, the camera angles sweep to show the stars on the ceiling and also reveal the glistening icicles that surround you. I love the sense of peace and beauty that is offered in this area.
youtube
3. School II
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - (2000)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was one of the funnest games to play as a kid. Each new game release seemed to get better and better in some way (up until Project 8). I have some fond memories of Tony Hawk's 1-4. I primarily chose School II to take the number three spot due to the overwhelming sense of nostalgia that I feel for the level. Oftentimes, this was my "free skate" level of choice. Its career goals were nicely implemented/spread out and the secret areas were fun to engage with. In free skate, School II was a fun choice because I could spend a solid amount of time at a specific quadrant in the level, perform more "realistic" tricks (maybe a kickflip back-smith or kickflip back-lip), then move somewhere else and have just as good of a time (the Roll Call Rails and planter ledges were always a blast). It was also cool to skate a few famous skate spots within the level. These spots included the Leap of Faith, the Gonz Rail and the Carlsbad Gap. Watch out for that golf cart! Beep beep, "skate or die, dude"!
youtube
2. Clock Town
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D - (2015)
If I could live in a video game world, I would choose to reside in Clock Town. It is a quaint, vibrant, entertaining and cordial place to live. During my first playthrough, I noticed that there is always some "goings-on" in Clock Town. I had fun walking through each building and engaging with the townsfolk. Everyone has their strict schedule, with certain tasks that Link can observe or investigate. I enjoyed following the Postman and Kafei during their daily routines. In addition to the incredibly personalized NPCs, the attention to color and set design are impressive. The Stock Pot Inn seems like a wonderful place to stay. Granny's (Anju's Grandmother's) room is beautifully decorated and the Mayor's Residence in East Clock Town is filled with endearing character. For me, the curved marketplace in West Clock Town is the most memorable area. I've had vivid dreams that take place in something similar to this bazaar strip. The Astral Observatory is one of my favorite locations as well (if it counts as a landmark in Clock Town). What I love about Clock Town, and Majora's Mask in general, is that it has an incredible fall carnival, harvest season atmosphere. There are many games that pull from traditional Halloween themes. In my opinion, MM has more of a unique autumn, crisp air, comfortably spooky art-style. If I were to be a Clock Town resident, I would prefer to be a pumpkin farmer...or a corn grower...and...I'd sell my crops before the moon drops!
youtube
1. Angry Aztec
Donkey Kong 64 - (1999)
There is something special about the developer Rare's game design. Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day all have distinctive graphics, campy storylines and collectathon-driven gameplay. In regards to DK64's levels, all of them are quite memorable. Fungi Forest's day and night cycles offer an innovative twist, Gloomy Galleon is an entertaining 3D water level, and Jungle Japes is a great beginner level. When compared to Jungle Japes, Angry Aztec slightly increases the difficulty, offering more challenging puzzles, platforming and enemies. Angry Aztec takes the crown because I felt completely engrossed in the game environment. The copious amount of tasks had me on my toes for hours on end. There were two Kongs to unlock—Tiny Kong and Lanky Kong. There was also a giant dragonfly boss to defeat. The act of forward thinking was firing on all cylinders and the childish fear of being defeated was raised at a fairly high level. Diddy Kong was my favorite character, and I thought that his jetpack challenges were the coolest thing ever. The additional temples were also exciting and filled with creative content. The Arabian-inspired "Angry Aztec" music track, composed by Grant Kirkhope, is absolutely phenomenal and one that I think about and listen to in present times. As a kid, I would often daydream about DK64. During recess, I would talk to one or two of my friends about boss battle strategies, or go over ways in which to progress through a certain level. My friends and I loved this game, which makes it very special in retrospect. Thanks to Grant Kirkhope's spectacular soundtrack and Rare's love and care for the Donkey Kong franchise, I have become a lifelong Donkey Kong 64 fan.

5. Tirthan Valley
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
Ralph Emerson
Called ‘Himachal’s Best Kept Secret’, Tirthan Valley perched at an altitude of 1600 metres above sea level is the perfect getaway destination blessed with a wealth of nature’s treasure, to be cherished, and the only ease way out for you to do this is to go on a Himachal adventure tour package. It is the perfect placed to be if you are tired from the hustle & bustle of the everyday metro life full of noise and pollution. Named after the pristine Tirthan river, the valley opens the doors to the newly recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site — The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), spread over an area of 1100 sq kilometers. It is a paradise for trekkers, offering one of the finest trekking opportunities in the world. Not to forget for bird lovers as well who spend days camping in the heart of this park. For not only an escape from the overcrowded city life, but also an escape from the more-crowded Himachali getaways, it doesn’t get much better than Tirthan.
As already made known that this is a very offbeat destination, least frequented ad ideal for the solitude seekers, hardcore adventurers, and those who just want to do nothing and just be around. Not a very talked-about destination so the only way to express the charms of the nature here is through images that will tempt you to just go for it.
Things To DoRiver Crossing
River crossing in the Tirthan Valley is an adventure sport for people who are looking for some adrenaline rush in the quiet valley. A person is tied to a safety harness and slides from one point to the other, with the turbulent River Tirthan gushing underneath. The icy cold spray of the river while taking on the sport, sure is a motivating factor for enthusiasts
Trekking In The Great Himalayan National Park
The Great Himalayan National Park is a blessing in disguise for nature lovers. From lush green forests to blooming flowers and meandering streams, this place also houses various well laid out trek paths.
Depending on the difficulty level, one has an option to choose from half day, full day, overnight or multiple day camping. Whatever you may opt for, this place does promise a wonderful experience and equally amazing trip.
Serloskar Lake
Serloskar Lake, another major attraction of the village is located about 5 km from Jalori Pass. The lake has clear water which remains so despite of several leaves falling in to it.
The place is better known for its temple devoted to Goddess Budhi Nagin. It is believed that the Goddess has hundred sons and acts as a guardian of the place. The walk to the lake is equally enchanting from Jalori pass, with thick cover of oak trees.
Jalori Pass
Nestled in the peaks of northern Himalayas lies the Jalori mountain pass, an undiscovered beauty located between the prominent towns of Kullu and Shimla. Perhaps one would recognise it better as the snow-covered summit in the Bollywood film “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, where actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are seen trekking through the mountainside. With scenic views of the snow-capped Himalayan landscape and the fresh mountain air to surround you, the hike through Jalori Pass has much to offer with exquisite flowers, birds and the environment for a surreal experience.
At a height of 10,800 feet above sea level, the trail through this mountain pass is relatively untouched as a tourist attraction, possibly due to the hype surrounding the roads to reach this pass. And it is completely justified.
Great Himalayan National Park
Great Himalayan National Park is one of India’s national parks, located in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded on all the three sides by the Himalayan Mountains, the park is home to diverse wildlife species, is a must on your Himachal tour package itinerary.
The Great Himalayan National Park received the status of a national park in 1999. At present, it is home to more than 375 species of fauna, 31 species of mammals, and 181 species of birds. This beautiful location of the national park becomes all the more attractive due to the Deodar and Oak trees.
The secluded location of the park has made sure that the villages inside the park have a culture of their own. Every village inside has a deity of its own. There are also some fairs organized here during April, May, August, and September. The Great Himalayan National Park is an amazing place to relax and unwind away from the fast life of the city. It is a must-visit for all the nature lovers out there.
Trout Fishing
There couldn’t be a more ideal place for fishing than the crystal clear Tirthan River, a tributary of Beas. Filled with brown and rainbow trouts, this river has over the year become a favorite place among the tourists as an angler spot.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is another adventure sport that is undertaken by a lot of travelers while visiting the valley. Many operators have specialized staff who train and assist adventure enthusiasts who are interested in partaking of the sport.
How To Reach
By Air
The nearest airport to reach Tirthan Valley is the Kullu-Manali airport which is the hub for most Himachal destinations. From the airport, you can hire a private vehicle to reach Tirthan Valley. It will take close to 90 minutes.
By Road

Baspa River also makes its way through the place, meandering and gurgling, famous for trout fishing. The place is dotted with several attractions from the temple and fort to nearby villages making it an amazing holiday destination.

Bering Nag Temple
An architectural wonder, this place is a must-visit. It is considered as one of the most important temples for Hindus. This temple is devoted to Lord Jagas.
If you are traveling between the months of August and September, do not miss the famous Fulaich fair celebrated every year.
7. Chitkul
Chitkul is said to be the last inhabited village within the Indian boundaries on the old Indo-Tibetan Road. Situated at the height of 3450 meters, the village is located at a distance of 28 km from Sangla, about 600 kilometers from Delhi in the Kinnaur Valley. It is like a doorway that opens into an exquisite landscape of breathtaking beauty and a serene environment.
There are orchids, mountains, meadows, huge rocks, rivers, jungle, and grasslands in the village with the help of which it has made a unique identity for itself. A drive to the Chitkul village is pleasant. One can go for trekking in the forest as well and a wildlife sanctuary for all the wildlife as well as nature lovers out there.
The journey to Chitkul is an altogether different experience in itself. It is sparsely populated with as many as 600 locals who are warm, loving and extremely hospitable towards the tourists. While traveling to the valley, you will see River Baspa on your right and on the way you will also pass through the Rakcham village which is commonly known as the model village of the region. Numerous campsites are situated within the apple gardens by the side of the Baspa River.
This little village is a must-visit place, and one should stay for at least a day here as the landscape keeps you magnetized all the time. It is a perfect place to spend some time off from the busy lives and the monotonous routines in the realm of natural beauty.
Tibetan Wood Carving Center
A paradise for shopaholics, this place is famous for its Tibetan products made of wood carvings. Once again famous among tourists, the Tibetan Wood carving center has good both on display as well as sale.

CHRISTMAS IS ON ITS WAY!
It’s almost that time again, Krovs with Christmas and winter holidays right around the corner.
The castle will be serving a buffet dinner in the decorated ballroom with all sorts of cultural delicacies provided by the councilmen. Villagers in town can volunteer their restaurants and bars for their own unique celebrations or parties serving holiday-themed drinks or meals for those who don’t want to cook their own. Krovs Town’s park will transformed into a romantic “winter village” decorated in snow-covered trees and fairy lights all around with ice skating and shop vendors selling sweets, hot chocolate, jewelry, art, and other trinkets and knick knacks for business promotion.
On behalf of the council, we look forward to celebrating Christmas and the New Year with you!
Unclaimed slaves will have attire chosen for them by the castle while claimed and purchased slaves should rely on their masters to supply them with whatever dress code standards they prefer for their claims.
Event outfits should only be posted once the event begins.
Our Christmas Festival event will begin at 12PM EST on Wednesday, December 20th. This event will be a "two-parter" ending the following Wednesday and leading right into another week-long event celebrating New Year's Eve from December 27th until January 3rd.
FULL COLD MOON (DECEMBER 25TH)
Christmas this year also coincides with the full moon. This will last between December 25th and December 28th as an optional mini-event for players to participate in.
All the werewolves and wolf hybrids in the castle can feel it approaching as they may be feeling extra temperamental. Uncollared werewolves, varcolaci, werewitches, and tribrids will experience forced transformations into their wolf forms beginning Christmas night until early morning Thursday, December 28th. Please note that those with magical abilities will be unable to use their magic while in wolf form. Hellhounds are the only wolf hybrid that will not be forced to shift into their animal form although they still experience the aggression and short-temper during these few days and nights.
The woods surrounding Krovs Castle and Krovs Town in the mountains are open for all wolves to run free with plenty of game to hunt. Non-wolf residents should avoid these parts at night for their own safety – mortals like humans and witches are still susceptible to becoming a wolf or wolf hybrid themselves if bitten by one during these nights. Both Krovs Castle and Krovs Town have issued a mandatory curfew that everyone is inside the castle or town before dark – traveling the roads will be strictly prohibited by both castle guards and village police officers for everyone’s safety. Guards and officers will be armed with silver bullets and wolfsbane and have been trained to handle feral wolves if necessary. They have been advised only to incapacitate, NOT kill, if a situation requires it.
Unclaimed slaves will have their transformation abilities suppressed by their collars, however, they will still experience the heightened emotions, restlessness, and desire to howl at the moon each night. While they can’t turn into wolves, they may still act somewhat feral even in human form. Only a master can remove or negate the collar’s magic while renting them, which is an option for some slaves in the Undercroft to get out for an evening or two.
Any master who has claimed or purchased a werewolf or wolf hybrid slave can either choose to collar them for these next few days or allow them to run free.
Masters, staff members, and villagers are responsible for themselves during these next three nights and ensuring that they are not in the castle before it gets dark. Time off or early departures from work will be accepted for staff members and villagers as needed.
Other supernaturals like mermen, water elementals, kitsunes, unseelie faeries, and pamolas all experience a boost in their abilities during full moons. Anyone with water, ice, and lunar energy magic capabilities will recognize that extra strength in those types of magic when used anytime at night.
Players, please LIKE this post so that we know it has been read.
