UMK 2024 Song Review - Jesse Markin
The hype is very real around Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), the Finnish national selection for Eurovision and the race to Malmö continues with another entry!
Jesse Markin - Glow
youtube
Jesse Markin is one of the most promising upcoming Finnish indie artists who released his debut album Folk in 2019 and was widely awarded for it for example with an Emma (Finnish Grammy) as the best newcomer in 2020. He released his follow-up album Noir in 2021. Musically he would be categorized as a rap artist but his music is greatly influenced by other genres which shows also in his UMK 2024 entry.
He is one of the rare UMK artists taking a stand announcing that in case of winning UMK he would not go to Malmö if Israel participates ESC 2024.
Glow written partly in Finnish toilets but also in the streets of Ghana, is definitely something else. A fresh summer breeze in the middle of cold January - this is a song that no one expected to receive from Finland.
This ain't a simple track, instrumentally rich, would even call it noisy - a lot is going on in here. I hear reggaeton, afro-beats, hip hop / rap, electro / house well, smoothly produced urban sounds - musically this reminds me of Black Eyed Peas a bit. Chorus is memorable and uplifting with "you're gonna make it" where the verses tend to remain a bit flat.
The song doesn't have really a proper bridge and I don't think the rap section in the halfway of the song should be considered as such. And I don't think it's giving the correct energy here but this might be a personal preference. The track seems then a little long and repetitive. Visually this is on of the weakest of UMK video clips this year. Even though the lama is kind of cute!
However, there's a lot of love for this song out there. For those into this kind of genre, the track is an instant earworm but for others it has a risk of disappearing in the background as.. well background music. When speaking about views on YT and streams on Spotify Glow is losing in both lists for its competitors (being 7th and 6th). But Glow does serve a strong feel good vibe and I'm so glad it's here! It does bring light and different perspective to the 2024 UMK line up.
What do you think of the fourth UMK24 track and would you vote for Jesse Markin to go all the way to Malmö? UMK final takes place on February 10th!

Phenomenal Woman Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. Maya’s grandmother was a safe haven for her, where she lived mostly up until the age of 13 in Arkansas. Around the age of 7, Maya was sexually assaulted by a friend of the family. After she confessed to her uncle about who did it, he was found dead shortly afterwards. The trauma of the occurrence led Maya to become mute for years. She was afraid her voice would cause more harm than good. A fellow teacher that visited her grandmother's store took Maya to the school library and told her to read all of the books in that room.
Maya began her exploration of literature and found delight in poetry especially. Her teacher told her she could only truly love poetry once she began to speak and experience the words. Maya began memorizing her favorite poems. Her favorite poet was Paul Dunbar. The title of her first publication, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” comes from the inspiration of his poem. The book is an autobiography about her childhood and is the first nonfiction best seller by an African American woman. It was poetry where Maya discovered the beauty and power of words, but life would show her ugliness and pain.
At the age of 14 Maya received a scholarship to California Labor School , where she studied drama and dance at night, while still attending high school during the day. At the age of 16 Maya gave birth to her son. After high school Maya went from a struggling teen mom to a fulfilled artist. Around the age of 20 Maya was teaching dance and performing as a singer. She is well known for her calypso dancing and in 1957 released her first album Miss Calypso. In 1977 Maya received an Emmy Award nomination for her work on the TV miniseries Roots. In 1978 she published one of her famous collections of poetry, “And Still I Rise”, which features the beloved poem “Phenomenal Woman”.
youtube
Maya became more politically engaged and began working with the civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. She spent years in Egypt and Ghana where she taught in the University department of Music and Drama, as well as a feature editor and journalist for the African Review. Another autobiographical work, “A Song Flung Up to Heaven'' (2002) explores her return from Africa to the U.S, and her struggles with the assassinations of two great human rights activists Malcom X and her friend Martin Luther King. MLK’s assasination occurred on her birthday, April 4,1968. For many years she would not celebrate her birthday and continued to send flowers to his widow Coretta Scott King.
youtube
Maya became good friends with Oprah Winfrey, and Oprah hosted several great birthday celebrations, including a cruise for her 70th birthday. In 1998 Maya performed one of her most famous works for the inaugural ceremony of president Bill Clinton. The audio version of the poem “On the Pulse of Morning” (1993) lead Maya to winning a Grammy Award for best spoken word album. In 2014, Maya Angelou passed away in her home in North Carolina. Her legacy will forever remain. The phenomenal woman Maya Angelou has made artistic impact as a poet, writer, activist, and entertainer. Maya was all of these.

Behind the Scenes of Merry Wives, the Post-COVID Return of Shakespeare in the Park
Over a year after the Delacorte went dark for the first time in 58 years, Tony Award–winning set designer Beowulf Boritt returns with a love letter to New York City
By Marcus Scott
August 10, 2021

Known for his eye-popping ocular spectaculars, no one has captured the allure of New York quite like influential production and scenic designer Beowulf Boritt. In fact, as the theatre industry slowly pulls itself out of the COVID-19 era, the scene-stealing master builder is amongst the first to design for the rollout, kicking off the season with Merry Wives, a much anticipated rollicking romp by acclaimed dramatist Jocelyn Bioh (School Girls, Nollywood Dreams) now playing in Central Park.
An adaptation of the Shakespearean folk comedy A Most Pleasant and Excellent Conceited Comedy of Sir John Falstaff and the Merry Wives of Windsor, Bioh’s contemporary Harlem-set reimagining is not only a love letter to New York City but a celebration of immigrants. Bioh, a first-generation Ghanaian-American, relocates the setting to 116th Street, centering the narrative around the local African immigrants (many of them hailing from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Sierra Leone) of the neighborhood known as Le Petit Sénégal and bringing to life a modern-day Pan-African cultural mosaic yet seen on a major American proscenium.
Under the helm of associate artistic director and resident director Saheem Ali, the production marks the return of Shakespeare in the Park after nearly two seasons. Following in the footsteps of the Kenny Leon–directed Much Ado About Nothing presented at the outdoor 1,800-seat Delacorte Theater in 2019, Merry Wives (overseen by the Public Theater) also features an all-Black cast. Originally from Nairobi, Ali wanted to tell a story that spoke to the immigrant experience in the U.S. and the Black experience in New York City, which quickly led to the creative team telling the story through the Pan-African diaspora community. Boritt immediately connected with this impulse: The son of an Eastern European immigrant, his Hungarian father was born during the Holocaust and ultimately fled the country when he was 16, during the Hungarian Uprising of 1956.
One of Boritt’s major trademarks (or “tics,” as he calls them) is hiding elephants within his designs, often leaving one in plain sight; there are three in this production. Courtesy of Beowulf Boritt
“One of the things I really love that I hope we captured in the set is the kind of juxtaposition you get [in Harlem],” says Boritt, who paid close attention to the 19th-century architecture and moldings of the weathered brick buildings that now house mom-and-pop business storefronts. “It repeats all over New York. Chinatown has it, Koreatown has it, Brighton Beach has it. These immigrant communities exist all throughout the five boroughs in exciting and unique ways, where, when you go there, you almost feel like you’re in those countries.”
Whether it’s the overworked vintage window air conditioner units overhead or mock cast-iron manhole covers at the lip of the proscenium below, Boritt captures the inner-city urban ecology of Harlem with fine-tooth precision. Taking inspiration from local clinics, African hair salons, and restaurants, Boritt incorporates the color schemes of various African flags to highlight the cultures of the nations the characters belong to. The interior of a laundromat owned by a local businessman (played by Gbenga Akinnagbe) and his wife (played by This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson) is painted in the colors of the Nigerian flag, an impulse that supports the text and its sundry references to palm wine, jollof rice, and cocoyams. The shock of effervescent Day-Glo hues also brings to mind the 1990s sitcom boom, something this production shares tonally.
Perhaps the most striking is the purple zebra-striped wallpaper in the apartment of Falstaff, the boastful and buffoonish rotund rogue with a bloated ego played with hammy bravura by Jacob Ming-Trent. Boritt says the set piece was inspired by a tour of 40 apartments when he and his wife were looking at real estate.
A model of Boritt’s plans for the stage showing Falstaff’s apartment. “He had been this ladies man Lothario in the 1990s, and he was still living in the same apartment he had decorated twenty years ago,” Boritt says. Courtesy of Beowulf Boritt
Boritt says hip-hop influences are prevalent throughout the set, such as an on-the-nose homage to a Barron Claiborne photo of The Notorious B.I.G. with a parental advisory label on the bottom right corner. Courtesy of Beowulf Boritt
Street art is another aspect of city life that Boritt pulled from, as gleaned from a polychromatic Black Lives Matter mural etched on the brick face of an urgent-care facility. The mural’s design is reminiscent of Gee’s Bend quilts, created by the descendants and ancestors of enslaved people from this community in Alabama. This is a striking visual, compelling viewers to remember the martyrs before and the martyrs to come.
“George Floyd’s murder affected all of us,” Boritt expressed, as his concerns pivoted towards the future of the industry. “I was aware that there were fewer people of color in the theater than in the population at large, and I think I naively assumed it was liberal industry, and it wasn’t lack of opportunity, it was lack of people not wanting to do it for whatever reason… I was wrong about that.”
“It’s a play of big personalities, and I felt it could sustain that kind of intense color that is a little more intense than real life in a way,” Boritt says. Courtesy of Beowulf Boritt
Since previews began, Merry Wives has had a whirlwind of stratospheric highs and melancholic lows. Following an injury sustained by Ming-Trent during a July performance, the Shakespeare in the Park production postponed its official press opening to Monday, August 9. Shortly after, a member in the 12-actor ensemble tested positive for COVID-19, causing the production to shutter for two days. Despite the tribulations that come with opening a show during a pandemic, Boritt says being in a live setting is an improvement over the influx of Zoom theater presentations that have been in vogue since the beginning of quarantine.
Since regulations loosened, the Public Theater granted a maximum of 1,468 masked theatergoers, with both full capacity and physically distanced sections available, and the surge in demand has been monumental. Boritt says the overwhelming response was evident the evening of the second preview (when the maximum of masked theatergoers allowed was 428) during a particularly nasty downpour that lasted two hours.
“Finally, at 10 o’clock at night we started the show, and we still had an audience of about 400 people who sat there for two hours of really heavy rain to watch a Shakespeare play in the park. It was really magical. There’s a hunger for it, for that experience, that a live performance with live actors interacting with the audience... There’s no substitute for it.”

Angelika Kollin: Woman behind the lens
Angelika Kollin’s is a 44 year old photographer that is based in Tampa, Florida. The award-winning photographer has a driven passion for photography and created amazing projects that won her up to 14 awards. The self-taught artist traveled to different countries in Africa for the past 8 years. Countries like Ghana, Nambia and South Africa helped widen her ability to create new projects while still documenting her adventures throughout the trip. She uses the connection and intimacy of humans to make her vision come to life. Her award wining series called You Are My Mother are one of many of her collections that demonstrates the propinquity within themselves and the other person. The pictures above are from two of her known projects, Hold me ‘till I go and Tales of Intimacy that create more of her ideas but in different concepts.
Hold me ‘till I go is a photography series that incorporated 2-3 models. In the picture above are two portraits of a 75 year old and another female model. “This portrait of 75 year old Katinka Hall was taken in early 2020 between her chemotherapy treatments. It was time of great challenges, and mostly discovery of new strength and faith, underneath daily despair and desire to live, in accepting the most predictable outcome. In February 2021 Katinka passed away” (Nyguen, 2021). The images really show the signature vision Kollin created throughout her work. Katinka was actually a long time friend of the photographer. The intimacy's of both models create a mother and daughter like bond. The other model, Jana is caressing Katinka in a very vulnerable way. The relations between these two women are not known, however they demonstrate a good representation of a mother and daughter bond.
As stated in the beginning, Kollin has won many awards for her talent in taking pictures. In an statement she gave to a photography website about one of her current series called You are My Mother/Father, she talks about her current aim for her future photography series and how the behind the scenes touched her in a personal level. At first she created the series with a sole focus of capturing the love of a mother and its children's, but after she decided to take it further. “ Afterwards I continued to explore same "story" in other mother/child connections, examining the impact it has on my own family life and on my audience. There is no groundbreaking story occurring in my project, and yet, at least for myself, I am learning to understand the significance and value of connection to our family and how it shapes us for the rest of our life.” (Kollin, 2021).
Taste of Intimacy is another photograph series that shows a different model paired with a photo that corporates a nature like scenery. In the second photograph above, in the left it’s a portrait of an African-American model looking away from the camera. It seems that she's covered in a drape-like material. Possibly touching into her African culture. Along with the portrait, there is a flower that seems to be laying in a cracked surface behind of it. Between the colors and the mood, you can tell how both pictures compliment each other. Even though in both pictures you can tell the different shades of blue, it still creates a mood of calmness and smoothness.
In the third paired picture there's is another self portrait of a women wearing a multi-colored shirt along with a colored headband. To go with the portrait there is a photo with leaves. To be more specific, there palm tree leaves. The portrait seems canid. The model was being interactive with the things around her and Kollin took a picture of her in the midst of it. Once again, both pictures compliment each other. One difference from the first photo of the series is that the undertones. Like in the first paired pictures, the undertone was blue. In this picture, you can differentiate the two. In the portrait, since there is many vibrant colors due to the outfit and the bold yellow wall, it gives off a different undertone. Despite the color change, it actually goes really well with the following photograph.
In the two different series of Kollin’s work, you can tell there are different visions she wants to set for people that are viewing her work but still keeps her signature in every series. One thing that is very familiar with both of her works is the intimacy's. For example, in the first series, the women that are featured convey a story. The way they hold each other and the way one of the models wrapping the arm so delicately yet protective way shows the attachment the two have with one another.
In the second series, the main difference with the first series is that there is only one model. Although, that one model still demonstrates the intimacy. Not with another person but with themselves. The way the models are interacting with their body is in a subtle yet confident way. With the african-american model, she is sitting so graciously on the bathtub, hand overlaying one another while looking towards the light. She is not hiding away from the camera, it seems as if she showing her beauty. With the second model, the interactivity and the candid photo of her makes it seem so wholesome. Kollin captures the beauty of these women and the intimacy's in am inspiring way.
While there are many other photographers that can achieve such great platform, Angelika Kollin is one that is on the rising. Her work and achievements through her awards and websites speak for itself.

Madrid, 23 January 2019
The second edition of the Norman Foster Foundation Digital X Workshop will take place on 18-22 February 2019, in association with e-flux Architecture. ‘All things digital are simultaneously local and global, large and small, inside and outside of any given boundary’ states workshop mentor Nicholas Negroponte. ‘The digital world brings together previously separate worlds, like those of discovery, invention and expression. It does that because it has become the DNA of each. The natural world and the artificial world are becoming interchangeable. Change will happen very rapidly. Fasten your seatbelts.’
With that concept as a background, the workshop is designed to pose an key questions and come up with some considered conclusions . Can you build a city without infrastructure: no roads, no sewers, no water or power? Why bother? The answer is to renovate slums without bulldozing them, which is something that could impact two or three billion people. Call it a new autonomy, that of a house or a small community, taking some pages from outer space and bringing them back to earth.
The Academic Body spans a wide range of practitioners from the fields of design and innovation, including Amber Case, Co-founder of CyborgCamp, Cambridge, MA, United States; W. Daniel Hillis, Co-founder of Thinking Machines Corporation and of Applied Invention, Cambridge, MA, United States; Mary Lou Jepsen, Founder of Openwater, San Francisco, CA, United States; Hasier Larrea, Founder and CEO of Ori Inc., Cambridge, MA, United States; David Moinina Sengeh, Chief Innovation Officer at the Government of Sierra Leone, Freetown, Sierra Leone and Ben Vickers, Chief Technology Officer at the Serpentine Gallery, London, United Kingdom
After reviewing applications submitted by hundreds of candidates from around the world, the selection committee awarded ten scholarships to students from the following universities and institutions: American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon; American University in Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Ashesi University, Berekuso, Ghana; Cambridge University, Cambridge, United Kingdom; Cape Town University, Cape Town, South Africa; Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands; George Washington University, Washington, DC, United States; Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, United States; Polytechnic University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain and the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China.
These ten students will be asked to park reality at the door. Inviting them to bring their most advanced thinking, craziest ideas, whether they relate to architecture or not, to apply them, their derivatives or simply their point of view to the needs of the world’s poorest people, especially the increasing number who live in slums.
The Digital X Workshop will include seminars, lectures, one-to-one tutoring and architectural tours to learn more about the context of Madrid culminating in a five day workshop led by the Atelier mentor, Nicholas Negroponte, co-founder and former director of MIT Media Lab.
e-flux Architecture will join this year’s edition of the Digital X workshop as its editorial partner. Editors Nikolaus Hirsch and Nick Axel will conduct a series of interviews during the duration of the workshop, the result of this joint initiative will be unveiled in Spring 2019.

Madrid, 25 May 2018

It brings together previously separate worlds, like those of discovery, invention and expression. It does that because it has become the DNA of each. Architecture does that too.’
What happens when the natural world and the artificial world become one and the same? How does society change when direct brain communication occurs among humans, and between humans and machines? The workshop will focus on this kinship, that of architecture and the digital world, how the two play together now, and how they will change the world together, going forward, discussing things that, outrageous today, will be commonplace tomorrow.

KGenius is back on the scene with not one, but 5 amazing studio singles!
June 2021 - KGenius is an artist, songwriter, and producer from Jamaica. His sound follows in the tradition of some of the best local and international reggae music. However, he is actually more than just an entertainer: his songs have a conscious side to them, and what’s special about his songs is that they often focus on insightful and deeper topics, diving deeper into the conscience and emotion of the audience. This is one of the many reasons why KGenius’s music can transcend all the barriers, and he recently managed to set the bar higher and add even more versatility to his sound with a brand new set of 5 single releases, and he is also showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, there is so much in store from this talented artist! His sound captures the essence of classic reggae music with the melodies of the genre often inspired by other styles and offering more of an international vibe to the sound. KGenius goes for a catchy, yet very diverse and distinctive song, which knows no boundaries in terms of creativity and vision. I would definitely recommend listening to these amazing new songs by this artist if you are a fan of artists as diverse as Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, and Anthony B, only to mention but a few. Ultimately, these new releases serve as an exciting calling card for this artist, as it showcases his passion for great production aesthetics and his love of modern sounds with a special edge. KGenius is far more than just an artist. In fact, he aims to accomplish so much more in his work and vision. He wants to use his creativity and artistry as a way to bring people together and set the bar higher with music that is universal and so easy to relate to. The artist actually focused on starting some amazing new movements in Ghana. He traveled to the country in 2020, and he managed to win over the local audience and the media there! His first trip was very successful, and since then, he was nominated GEBIA'21 International Artiste of the Year, as well as amazing features on Ghanaian radio and television. He is managed by the multiple award winning Ghanaian Radio and Television personality Ohemaa Woyeje also turned Reggae Artist as a result of KGenius's vision and coaching abilities. These amazing songs showcase KGenius’s amazing versatility, and the collaboration with his manager is truly spot on! The fifth of these songs is going to be released on the 7th of July, so watch out, because it is definitely going to be worth your while! In addition to that, KGenius has recently filmed 3 amazing music video. Each video is highly cinematic and beautifully shot, perfectly focusing on the story behind the song and on giving the audience a truly amazing tone that sets the bar higher. The first video is actually a celebration of Ghana’s amazing culture and local scene, since it is spoken in the local language, Twi!
One of KGenius’s best songs, Revolution, is a quintessential reggae tune, which deals with the struggle that people have to deal daily due to corrupted politicians, who only care about advancing their own position and agenda, as opposed to valuing what they should really do: making their community a better place! The message of the song is clear: it is about the common person to be more conscious and stand up for each other! This revolution could make our lives better indeed. Jungle Hunt is another fantastic song from KGenius. This song is an amazing collaboration with Ohemaa Woyeje, who is not only the artist’s manager as mentioned earlier, but a fantastically talented Ghanan personality!
In addition to the personable and edgy performance value, KGenius’s music is also quite distinctive because of the sheer quality of the production. The mix of these amazing new singles is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. The frequency spectrum of the mix is also very balanced, with a tight, yet deep low end working wonders along with a smooth top end, which adds a sense of clarity to the music. Last, but definitely not least, Chess Game is another amazing song with a bit of a cross-over vibe. It features Ohemaa Woyeje once more, and it also has a collaboration with another Legendary Ghanaian musician: Ookomfooo Kwaaade33. This track is really amazing, because it allows different sounds and different musical cultures to collide, going for a truly fantastic and one-of-a-kind sound that knows no boundaries in terms of creativity and genre definitions.
This is music for the world, from the world. It’s music that connect people and spreads positive vibes with everyone who is willing to listen. This past year has been quite challenging for artists and songwriters to say the least, because of the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused so much distress and isolation in all of us. However, artists like KGenius are here to remind us that we are all connected. We all belong to this big, colorful, and beautiful world, and as people, we can truly make a positive difference and foster change.
KGenius’s music stands out for its modern sound, but although the production is quite polished, it is never overproduced, allowing a lot of wonderfully organic and “human” elements to really add liveliness to the mix.
Find out more about KGenius, and do not miss out on the artist’s music, which is currently available on some of the best digital music streaming platforms.

We also had the chance to talk to this amazing artist and get a full interview with KGenius! Keep reading for more.
I love how you manage to render your tracks so personal and organic. Does the melody come first, or do you focus on the beat the most?
It depends on the mood because it’s a spiritual vibration from God, but most times the melody/hook comes first and from there the song develops.
Do you perform live? If so, do you feel more comfortable on a stage or within the walls of the recording studio?
I do perform live and definitely feel more comfortable doing so because you’re dealing with an organic sound and performance that presents the music NATURALLY with no additives to the people.
If you could only pick one song to make a “first impression” on a new listener, which song would you pick and why?
‘Revolution’ would be my song of choice because it focuses on people being more aware of who they are and the lies that are being told; it’s an alert to humanity to be more caring for each other. For the people that we put in power to cut out the corruption and make good decisions to benefit the people they serve.
What does it take to be “innovative” in music?
To be innovative in music you just have to live and observe. Music is all around us, it’s an expression of how I feel and by paying attention the music translates that feeling.
Any upcoming release or tour your way?
Next track release is July 7th 2021 for ‘Money Gone’ with Ohemaa Woyeje.
Anywhere online where curious fans can listen to your music and find out more about you?
The music is available on all major streaming platforms and my website is kgenius.com

Black Sherif joins Boomplay’s Golden Club with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Omah Lay & others
Ghanaian rising star, Black Sherif, has hit 100M streams on Africa’s most expansive music streaming and download platform, Boomplay. The “Kwaku the Traveller” hitmaker becomes the first Ghanaian artist to reach the 100M streams milestone on Boomplay after having had a phenomenal run since last year.
With this feat, Black Sherif joins Boomplay’s Golden Club, a list of artists who have clocked and surpassed the 100M streams milestone, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Diamond Platinumz, Fireboy DML, Joeboy, Omah Lay and Rayvanny.
“Reaching 100 million streams on Boomplay in such a short time and being the first Ghanaian artist to achieve this feat is a big deal to me. As a young kid from Konongo, who only had a dream and a voice, this brings me to the realisation that I can achieve any and everything so long as I believe and dare myself to take action. Big love to the Boomplay team for putting me on from day one till now,” Black Sherif shared.
Born Mohammed Ismail Shariff, the 20-year-old talented artist released “Money”, “Cry For Me”, and “Destiny” in 2020, which gained him some traction online. Later, he dropped “Money (remix)”, “Adea Kye”, and “Ankonam” and garnered huge buzz on Boomplay across several countries.
When Black Sherif’s “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon” were released in 2021, they went viral and brought him to the mainstream limelight. A remix of his “Second Sermon” featuring Burna Boy gave him further reach across Africa and beyond. Consequently, during Boomplay’s Recap 2021, which highlights stats and insights of music consumption and engagement on the Boomplay platform, Blacko emerged as Ghana’s 2nd Most Streamed Artist of 2021 and his “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon” were the 1st and 2nd Most Streamed Songs of 2021 in Ghana.
His story written in bright stars, Black Sherif, went on to win the four awards at the 2022 3Music Awards, held in March 2022, including the Boomplay Breakthrough Act of the Year. At the same event, he debuted a spectacular performance of his latest single, “Kwaku the Traveller”. The song skyrocketed him to African stardom and peaked at NO.1 on both Boomplay Ghana and Nigeria charts. It currently has over 40 million streams on Boomplay.
Blacko is truly a superstar in the making, and the journey continues for Kweku the Traveller! Congratulations to the son of Konongo Zongo!
