[ad_1] GG News Bureau Panaji, 17th Oct. Goa, often referred to as a paradise for travelers and party enthusiasts, attracts tourists from across India and the globe every year. However, this influx of visitors has resulted in persistent traffic congestion in the region. To address this issue, the Indian government is set to construct a new four-lane road to enhance connectivity between Panaji, Ponda, and Karnataka. With a budget of ₹557 crores, the project aims to alleviate traffic congestion, improve road safety, and facilitate easier travel. The new road will span 9.6 kilometers along National Highway 748, connecting Ponda to Bhoma and linking with existing four-lane routes between Khandepaar, Ponda, and the Ribandar bypass. This infrastructure will significantly streamline travel between Goa’s capital, Panaji, and Ponda, while also providing quicker access to Dabolim Airport and Mormugao Port via National Highways 566 and 66. The completion of this road is expected to benefit both local residents and tourists visiting Goa, ensuring smoother travel experiences. Additionally, the road aims to facilitate the seamless movement of goods and people across state borders. Currently, heavy traffic is a common sight on the Ponda-Bhoma route, leading to frequent jams and accidents. The introduction of the new four-lane road is anticipated to reduce these problems, making travel safer and more convenient. If you’re planning a trip to Goa, don’t miss visiting the scenic Parra Road, adorned with palm trees and lush fields, which has featured in several Bollywood films and TV series. Notably, scenes from Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s film “Dear Zindagi” were shot along this picturesque route. Goa is renowned worldwide for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and exquisite dining options. Travelers can reach Goa by road, train, or flight. For those arriving by train, the two main railway stations are Madgaon and Vasco-da-Gama, both located in the southern part of the state. If you prefer flying, you will land at Dabolim Airport. The Mumbai to Goa cruise ferry, which is India’s first cruise service has finally started to sail. The trial run happened this Wednesday, i.e. 23rd May wherein the cruise left from Mumbai in the evening and reached Goa the next day in the morning. So, if you and your friends have been planning a trip to Goa, we suggest you wait a little more as the cruise services will open soon for the public, and it’s definitely going to be one hell of an experience!
Although the service was expected to launch in December, as per the chairman of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) “The delay is mainly because of certification and that the vessel is being readied. IRS and DG shipping clearances are pending. These formalities have to be completed.”
There were also a few other causes for the delay in the commencement of the Mumbai to Goa cruise ferry, which was earlier scheduled to launch by December 2017 like the delay in obtaining dry docking permissions in Mumbai and modification of the on-board safety apparatus among others. But now that the trial run has been successfully ticked off too, the cruise shall start its tourist operations soon.
The Mumbai to Goa luxury cruise ferry will have a capacity of around 350 passengers and prices will start from INR 7,000 per night, which will include your meals, stay, and refreshments. However, the price will depend on the type of room you book.
The timings of the Mumbai to Goa cruise will be such as: the ferry will depart from Mumbai at 5 PM and reach Goa the next day by 9:00 AM, making the total duration of the journey 16 hours. The cruise will return every alternate day, and sail from the domestic cruise terminal at Mazgaon and will have stops in Dighi in Raigad, Dabhol and Jaigad in Ratnagiri district, Vijaydurg and Malvan before finally docking at Panjim. When it comes to operations, the luxury cruise will run all round the year except for the four months of monsoon.
