Di-Ter-Butyl Phenol Prices Trend | Pricing | News | Database | Chart
North America
In Q3 2024, the Di-tert-butyl Phenol (DTBP) market in North America displayed price stability, underpinned by a balance between supply and demand. This steadiness stemmed from several key factors. A primary influence was the subdued demand from downstream industries such as plastics, coatings, and solvents—sectors that typically consume significant volumes of DTBP. Additionally, trading activities remained sluggish as market participants adopted a cautious stance amidst broader economic uncertainties. The price of Phenol, the primary feedstock for DTBP, also stayed weak in the American market, helping to maintain low production costs and supporting overall price stability. While some improvements were noted in the construction and solvent-related industries, the demand for DTBP continued to be restrained. Market participants relied on existing inventories to meet domestic requirements, avoiding overstocking and excessive purchases. This cautious approach contributed to the steady pricing of DTBP throughout the quarter, reflecting a balanced supply-demand dynamic. Overall, DTBP prices in North America remained stable, fluctuating within a narrow range due to these market conditions.
APAC
In Q3 2024, the Di-tert-butyl Phenol (DTBP) market in the APAC region witnessed a notable price surge driven by strong demand from key industrial sectors, including plastics, rubber, coatings, and adhesives. The market faced supply constraints, exacerbating the supply-demand imbalance and fueling the price uptrend. India, in particular, experienced significant price increases due to heightened demand across multiple sectors, compounded by seasonal factors and robust industrial activity. Elevated raw material costs further contributed to the upward pricing pressure. The synchronization of price trends across the APAC region was evident, with India serving as a key driver. Despite challenges such as plant shutdowns [specific plant names could be mentioned if available], the region's pricing environment remained bullish. By the end of the quarter, the price of 2,6 Di-tert-butyl Phenol CFR JNPT in India reached USD 1879/MT, marking a steady progression in price increases throughout the period.

Europe
In Q3 2024, the European market for 2,6 Di-tert-butyl Phenol experienced a significant price decline, driven by a combination of logistical and geopolitical challenges. Escalating global logistics costs, particularly due to disruptions in the Red Sea region, played a central role. Conflicts in the area led to severe port congestion, equipment shortages, and increased operational expenses, creating cascading effects across supply chains. These logistical hurdles constrained the availability of 2,6 Di-tert-butyl Phenol, further complicating the market dynamics. Additionally, supply stability concerns weighed on market sentiment, contributing to fluctuating prices. Manufacturers faced difficulties in managing production schedules amidst these challenges, resulting in a bearish outlook for the European market. This interplay of geopolitical instability and logistical disruptions drove down prices during Q3 2024, highlighting the intricate dependencies within global supply chains that influence regional pricing trends.

Methyl N-Propyl Ketone (MPK) Prices Trend | Pricing | Database | Index | News | Chart
North America
In the US market, Methyl N Propyl Ketone (MPK) has exhibited a mixed price trend, driven by various factors including supply chain disruptions caused by severe weather at the start of the year. Despite these challenges, demand for MPK remains moderate, indicating a stable market environment. This moderate demand reflects a consistent consumption of MPK across different sectors.
The supply of MPK in the US is also moderate, resulting in a balanced market scenario. As a precaution due to icy roads, Port Houston's terminals were temporarily closed. Additionally, the United Nations trade body has warned about escalating assaults on ships in the Red Sea, further complicating shipping routes already affected by conflicts and climate change. The cold weather has also contributed to material supply disruptions.
Overall, the mixed price trend, moderate demand and supply levels, and weather-related disruptions highlight the need for stakeholders in the MPK industry to remain vigilant and adaptable to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

APAC
In Q1 2024, the pricing dynamics of Methyl N-Propyl Ketone (MPK) in the APAC region were influenced by several factors beyond the conventional top three. Notably, the market situation in India played a significant role in the pronounced price fluctuations observed during this period. Demand for MPK in India showed signs of improvement, particularly from the downstream paint and coating industries, driven by the extended festive season and growth in the automotive sector.
Additionally, limited availability of MPK due to low inventories and cautious operating conditions among downstream ventures contributed to the supply-demand imbalance. Heightened buying activity and increased trading fundamentals further disrupted this equilibrium, leading to an upward price trend for MPK in India. Compared to the same quarter last year, there was a significant increase in MPK prices in Q1 2024, attributed to improved market conditions and the recovery of demand from the paint and coating industries.
The final price for Methyl Propyl Ketone (MPK) CFR JNPT in India for Q1 2024 was USD 7831/MT. This pricing trend was influenced by increased demand from downstream industries, limited product availability, and the appreciation of the Indian Rupee. Overall, the market situation in India played a crucial role in the pricing fluctuations observed in the APAC region during this period.
Europe
In the European market, Methyl N Propyl Ketone (MPK) has seen a notable decrease in prices, primarily due to subdued demand across downstream sectors such as paints, coatings, and solvents. This decline in demand could be attributed to sluggish economic conditions, regulatory changes impacting the use of MPK, or evolving consumer preferences toward alternative products.
Despite the low demand, the supply of MPK in Europe has remained moderate, indicating that producers can meet current demand levels without significant supply constraints. This balance between supply and demand has contributed to the downward pressure on MPK prices in the region. The market situation in the Netherlands, where price fluctuations were most pronounced, played a significant role in shaping the pricing dynamics. The construction sector in the Netherlands faced challenges, including a lack of new projects and a decline in demand for building materials.
Market participants in the MPK industry are also concerned about the potential repercussions of Red Sea diversions, which could affect imports and lead to increased global ocean freight rates within the Eurozone.

Customs bonded trucks facilitate the movement of export-import cargo between Hyderabad and Chennai port.
Krishnapatnam Port:
This rapidly growing private port in Andhra Pradesh, located around 200 km from Hyderabad, offers regular container feeder services to the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the U.S. Several large logistics companies operate frequent road transportation services between Hyderabad and Krishnapatnam port to coordinate the first-mile and last-mile connect for shippers.
Vizag Port:
Located over 500 km from Hyderabad, Vizag Port primarily handles bulk cargo such as coal, fertilizers, steel, and oil. However, feeder services are also available from Vizag to connect with leading international container transhipment hubs like Colombo, Singapore and Port Klang. Customs clearing agents at Vizag port facilitate trade documentation processes for Hyderabad-based traders.
Domestic Logistics Support
To facilitate the smooth movement of export-import cargo between production and warehousing facilities use these gateway seaports for logistics services in Hyderabad:
Container Freight Stations (CFS):
These offer services like stuffing and de-stuffing containers, temporary storage, palletization, and customs examination and clearance of less-than-container-load (LCL) cargo meant for exports by sea. Over 15 CFS facilities of leading logistics companies are spread across Hyderabad.
ICDs and PFTs:
Inland Container Depots (ICD) and Private Freight Terminals (PFT) operated by Concor, Gateway Rail, and others act as dry ports to consolidate LCL cargo, temporarily store containers and enable customs clearance before final dispatch to the seaports. Key ICDs near Hyderabad are located in Sanathnagar and Pantancheru.
Transport Companies:
Various road transport companies provide door-to-door services to carry export-import cargo in dry or refrigerated (reefer) containers as full truckload (FTL) or partial truck load (PTL) between Hyderabad and coastal port terminals like Chennai and Krishnapatnam.
Customs Clearing Agents:
Local customs clearing and forwarding agents assist traders with customs documentation, examination, appraisement and clearance processes at the seaports and airports to expedite cargo movement.
Air Cargo Infrastructure at Hyderabad
While ocean freight is economical for voluminous cargo, air cargo logistics is faster for time-sensitive deliveries of perishable commodities or high-value items. Here are some of the facilities available:
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA):
This is the sole international airport serving Hyderabad with connections across India and major global transit hubs in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe. More than 50 tonnes of international air freight passes through it daily. Leading international air cargo airlines operating belly cargo and freighter services from RGIA include Lufthansa Cargo, Emirates SkyCargo and Blue Dart Aviation.
GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC):
This recently launched dedicated air cargo terminal has an annual capacity to handle over 500,000 tonnes of air freight. The integrated terminals include facilities for truck docking, palletization, cold storage, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), customs clearance, and handling dangerous goods, VAL cargo, and live animals. The GHAC promotes Hyderabad as a major cargo hub and can process special cargo like pharmaceuticals, perishables, and e-commerce shipments.
Hyderabad Airport Free Trade Warehousing Zone (AFTZ):
Located near the RGIA, this 90,000 sq. ft. facility promotes air cargo exports by enabling duty-free storage of goods meant for exports worldwide. Trucks operate between the AFTZ and GHAC terminal in seamless connectivity.
In summary, Hyderabad is well connected by ocean and air cargo options to send cargo to destinations across the six continents. Businesses can engage various domestic logistics partners and international air cargo agents in Hyderabad to access leading Indian ports like Nhava Sheva, coordinate customs clearances, and handle first- and last-mile truck transportation. The integrated air cargo infrastructure at the RGIA also allows rapid freight movement on global air networks. Leveraging these services facilitates Hyderabad-based companies' efficient expansion of their worldwide supply chain footprint.
