the first kill is always hard (ofmd s2 spoilers)

Ed is seeing someone who he fell in love with bcus of his bold challenging perspective on piracy loose the essence of what made him so compelling and relatable to him in the first place. Stede is foppish and weak and sensitive and he cries all the time and likes to pick flowers, but he’s also a pirate, and that’s why Blackbeard wanted to meet him so badly. Stede gave him the hope that maybe there r ways to exist as a pirate, as a man, in a way that isn’t violent or abusive, or adhering to a toxic culture. And then Ed sees Stede succumb to the toxic culture, adhere to its standards, and abandon what made him so refreshing and hopeful in the first place for the sake of embracing the abusive system that Ed is trying to break away from.

Stede has been bullied all his life and, despite his confidence and boldness as the gentleman pirate, he is so deeply insecure. He’s terrified of bullying, he’s terrified of shame, he just wants to be Good Enough. And after “ruining” the greatest pirate in history he’s even more desperate to prove himself as worth something, or prove at least that he belongs, that he is a pirate. So of course he kills Ned, even when he feels sick and hes scared and he knows he doesn’t want to, knows that’s not him. Despite this he does it, bcus that’s what a pirate captain would do. That’s the expectation, every pirate has a first kill. If he’s a pirate he should adhere to this. He’s scared and he’s sensitive and he doesn’t like killing, so he pushes it away, pushes it far far away and plays the tough pirate captain who made someone walk the plank, embraces the attention and the persona. (Not the best at talking it through are we Stede) And Ed’s going in the opposite direction, he’s throwing his leathers away, discovering what he enjoys and who he is when he’s not the tough pirate he performs as. They want different things oh nooo.

No wonder they broke up 😭

the big giant text post where i talk about wynonna earp 3x04 edition

what the heck just happened,, there was so much going on in 3x04

tiny nicole survived a fire that i guess wasn’t a fire and actually a cover up for the massacre

and mama earp tried to burn tiny waverly in a barn, then tried to kill regular adult waverly at the prison

AND

jeremy (alongside new guy robin) survived the creepy forest

can u believe the gays are truly truly unkillable wow

nicole and waverly are both survivors (of fires, but i guess technically not nicole) aka they are soulmates wow beautiful

nicole threw bulshar’s ring into the creepy forest, not sure if that was a good idea

also bulshar was talking to doc that was also creepy (also still confused about that) but anyways doc (or anyone) please do not do shady exchanges with demons that is a no no

side tangent: doc can be rude (or a little more than rude...) but he’s changing an also he’s gotta tell the gang his secrets like going to hell and being face to face with the big demon himself he’s been through a lot!!! also the crib wow

speaking of jolene... she is sketch, but at least she possesses (hypnotizes???) by baking pastries rather than making ur eyes turn all weird like goo demon or making u apart of a vampire cult (moral of the story: please no more weird possessing the gang i do not like it)

when wynonna walked in she barely even questioned everything like all the pastries (no offense but nicole, waverly, or doc especially do not seem like the baking type) and more importantly their weird hypnotic trance

and it looks like she is here to stay and help the gang (or at least wynonna and waverly and i guess mama earp(??)) well she does something in the next episode thats for sure

wait but she wears waverly’s very nice cheetah print coat and tries to choke nicole never mind jolene is still sketch i wonder if that is the next episode

hehe i am talking about nicole again she is iconic “i would rather watch an all male version of pitch perfect twice” also i like her rainbow unicorn shirt, more of that please emily andras and co

Okay okay I figured out (fine, looked on some twitter threads) and I get it now okay so jolene was inside mamas head and then waverly touching mama released her and now there’s another crazy demon on the loose cool
