When Snorkmaiden needed to prepare for a duchess' cocktail party in Moomin and the Golden Tail, she provided Snorkmaiden with an array of rather... Unflattering to the normal eye's outfits, though she complimented her severely on them.

La Goona

A major one-off plot character from the comic Moomin Falls in Love and adapted into the 90s series, La Goona is the female lead of a circus and a vamp, preferring to use Moomin's feelings for her to her advantage. Her one rational friend is the talking Sea-horse she rides on and her interest is the strong man of the circus, Emeraldo.

we all know “love me with all of your heart” by Delilah Montagu (the moominvalley song) was very intentional, but the part i keep thinking about the most is:

“Every winter, every summer, every fall”

they deliberately skipped spring. there’s no rhyme for that line, so that didn’t decide the wording. they could’ve said, “every summer, every fall, every winter” and have it be in order, but they didn’t do that. they started with winter, deliberately skipped over spring, and then said the other two seasons.

they said the three seasons snufkin’s not known for. yeah, he’s usually there in the summer and fall, but he’s most known for being there in the spring. if this song means what we think, which I’m pretty sure it does, it’s pretty clear that moomin wishes snufkin could be with him every season. even though this is pretty self explanatory, i just found it interesting :3

Yeah, I know that episode where Sniff had a crush on a girl ends with him feeling a lot better and eating Moominmamma's pancakes, that's cute, but sometimes I wonder what happened to Houska afterwards. Maybe her and Sniff happen to meet each other again in the crossroads of life, both staring awkwardly at each other for a while. Sniff musters up some courage and apologizes for ruining her flowers, to which Houska says it's fine but she admits she felt bad for yelling at him back then.

The thing is that their encounter wasn't Just about ruining some flowers and yelling at him for it for Hauska.

Throughout the episode she exhibits an overwhelming empathy for organisms nobody thinks twice about, she considers birds and insects and even plants to be just as sentient and worthy of comfort and convenience as regular people are. Putting a tea cozy on a bird's nest so the egg's parent can have some time off, fixing an ant's broken leg, putting an umbrella over parsley because it's too bright out... Even here, she was just freeing up some space for the flowers to grow properly, and she believes all of them to be as sentient as we are.

To her, Sniff just committed Actual Murder and showed her the corpses of flowers that didn't do anything to merit it without thinking twice about it, while she was helping them. To Hauska, that's utterly unforgivable, and anyone would consider it unforgivable if they thought the same as her about these flowers' agency.

If Sniff and Hauska were to cross paths again, I don't think Hauska would have it in her mind to say a single word to him, and Sniff would remember the spear in his heart and be unable to muster a word to her. Sometimes you ruin something so deeply important to a person that there simply is no forgiveness to be had, even if you think it's trivial or it was well-intentioned.

first pic is just from a post of mine from 2019 when we were theorising about season 2 - moomin falls in love came up then and I was a bit obsessed with thinking about how they could adapt it in this new series.

and now, theorising for season 4, la goona has once again been brought up... and I realised that in his video, when he was getting into the snork voice, chance said "here's snork, and you're really strong" who's strong??? how about a literal strongman, emeraldo!!!!! everyone's favourite egg-shaped guy!!

ofc, this could all be completely wrong, but it's fun to theorise!

Charity Volunteer

With a very brief but insightful appearance in Moomin and the Golden Tail, this hemulen asks for Moomin's signature for a subscription list to Homeless Hemul, presumably a charity for the homeless (likely hemulens?) only after Moomin's celebritydom due to the golden tail has died down.

Although she was characterized as selfish, in the end she realizes she wants to stick with Emeraldo and is a little embarrassed but not against the idea of entertaining him for a change.
