Monday Musings with our favorite lad.

It appears as though some in this fandom could take the advice of Sir Dougie. However, those who should be listening with all ears are the ones who are more concerned with being right instead of focusing on our two main characters.

The ones who shout the loudest as if they are on some high moral ground, yet they are the ones drawing more attention to topics that shall not be named.

We are here as fans of the lovely leads of Bridgerton season 3, and Dougie, of course. We are not here to grow a following, but if you are, well then you not any different than the one person who you use to defame.

But that is neither here nor there.

Okay, so I'm reading a book and it made my mind wander in this direction.

But I'm thinking a couple of thoughts about Steve, and how he must suffer from some level of body dysmorphia after the serum.

And I'm thinking that he and Bucky probably spent a lot of time (platonically) cuddling in bed when they were growing up. For body heat, for comfort, etc.

And I'm thinking that if I ever dabbled in Thundershield, I'd want a story where Steve sort of revels in the fact that Thor actually makes him feel small. Like, Steve never feels small any more, except when Thor wraps him in his arms and holds him tight. And he feels safe and comfortable and secure and cared for in a way that he hasn't for a really long time.

The scene: Nora and June are hanging out with the boys in Brooklyn. Their new friends, Wes and Isaiah (who the boys met in the park one Saturday and then everyone went to Annie's drag show) are there too. Mylla suggested everyone meet at Billy's. Alex excitedly says they've ordered delivery from there a few times but never went in person. They're hanging out and Niko and Myla are wedding planning, talking in vague terms about their future and how the gang is their family, not some hypothetical future kids they probably won't even have.

Wes makes a comment about how he has no contact with his family for a while now, and he doesn't see them "even for the fucking seder" and Nora hears that and perks up. "Hold up. You need a seder to go to?" And Wes waves it off saying he doesn't even really practice anymore, but Nora insists "Come to our seder!"

June: "One problem with that is our seder is in Boston. Where our apartment is."

Nora: "But it doesn't have to be. Alex, can I host a seder in your house?"

"Um, sure? I'm cool with it. H?"

"Of course," Henry agrees. "We can deal with logistics later, naturally."

Niko and Myla immediately agree because they want to see their Wes happy.

Isaiah says he doesn't really know anything about a seder and he'd be interested.

Wes is now stuck because everyone else agreed and Nora is moving her seder to Brooklyn basically for him and he hates putting people out but it is what it is now.

It’s been snowing all day and such a gentle glow covers the entire room. It’s days like these that I’m thankful for the quiet moments. A time to just exist without spinning thoughts or planning for the week’s tasks.

The animals are sleeping after a long romp in the snow, coffee is brewing, and I’m just going to be present, listing to the quiet putter-patter of snowflakes brushing against the window.

I’ll dive into a book and make a fire later — for now, I’m just going to enjoy being in this moment.

At times I feel sorry for the police, not in a way that I would ever excuse an action of theirs but more in the thought of pity. Like you would a snivelling, sick animal. For that is what they have become.

They beg for status, for power. They lap at the table scraps of the powerful and in turn they sacrifice their empathy, their ability to connect with the world around them. They have become automatons due to their own choosing.

If an android will never be human, then neither will the police officer or the soldier. The moment you let something remove your empathy, allow you to kill or harm on command, what are you?
