Obviously, no matter how many movies I add to the list, I know dozens of more films will be announced and released throughout the year. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is one of them. I didn’t know a thing about this flick, but it received the always interesting awards buzz, which turned it into a mandatory viewing before Christmas comes around. I went in knowing only one thing: this is Chadwick Boseman’s (Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War) last appearance after he passed away a few months ago. I really didn’t know what to expect from this Netflix’s Oscar-bait, but I was afraid that Boseman’s nomination chances were high only due to what happened in real-life instead of him truly deserving that recognition… Well, I can safely and confidently write that Boseman delivers his career-best interpretation, and it wouldn’t be unfair for him to get tons of awards posthumously. From an impeccable accent to his mind-blowing emotional range, passing through long monologues and uncut takes effortlessly, Boseman is the strong glue that holds everything in place. What seems, at first, a hangout movie (narrative without a clear central plot) turns into a character-study. Levee wants to follow his dreams, do what he does best in his own conditions and with his personal interpretation of music and soul. Boseman incorporates this character seamlessly, delivering a memorable performance that I hope will be remembered as a worthy Oscar winner if this situation ends up becoming true. Even though Boseman is the actor that shines brighter, every single one is absolutely outstanding. Viola Davis shares the main spotlight with him by representing the (real-life) iconic blues singer, Ma Rainey. To be completely honest, I didn’t know who this singer was nor how she impacted soul music. Ruben Santiago-Hudson first feature-film sc...

info main bola Liverpool Punya Proyek Lebih Bagus, Tapi Kenapa Caicedo Lebih Pilih Chelsea?
Tumblr media
info main bola – Agen Moises Caicedo mengakui proyek Liverpool lebih bagus dari Chelsea tapi agennya akhirnya memilih pindah ke Stamford Bridge karena The Reds sempat menghilang tanpa kabar.
Bursa transfer musim panas 2023 kemarin sangat menarik.

The Associated Press.

Moises Kaplan, Peter Heimes, and Rafael Aguilar have described a new species of treefrog from the Sierra Madre del Sur in Guerrero. They named the species Sarcohyla floresi after Oscar Flores Villela, a researcher and teacher at the Museo de Zoologia, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México, to recognize his life-long commitment to the science and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in México.

2. Meaning of name "Liam" and "Emma"
Liam:
Liam's name is the name of a boy of Irish origin meaning "resolute protection".
Liam originated as the nickname of Uilliam, the Irish variant of William. William is an English name from German origin brought to Ireland when the British fled England after the conquest of Norman.
The Irish began to use English names, including William, which led to the development of Uilliam and its short form, Liam.
Liam is the top US boy's name for 2018, joining the elite group of names to top the list. Liam started out as a short form of William but has long stood on his own and for several years has become one of the most popular baby names for boys.
Now it is the fastest-growing Irish name in the United States, first entering the Top 10 in 2012 and before climbing to No. 1, holding No. 2 for four consecutive years.
Emma:
Initially, a short form of the German name beginning with the ermen element meaning "whole" or "universal". It was introduced to England by Emma of Normandy, who was the wife of King Ethelred II (and by him the mother of Edward the Confession) and later King Canute.
After the Norman conquest, this name became popular in England. It was revived in the 18th century, perhaps in part because of a poem by Henry Prior Henry and Emma (1709). In the United States, it ranked third in 1880 (after Mary and Anna were omnipresent).
It declined steadily over the next century, beginning another rise in the 1980s and eventually becoming the most popular name for girls in 2008.
At this time it also experienced similar levels of popularity elsewhere, including the United Kingdom (where it began rising a decade earlier), Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands.

ESPN baseball reporter Pedro Gomez dies at 58
Tumblr media
Pedro Gomez, an ESPN reporter since 2003 and one of the country’s foremost baseball journalists, died unexpectedly Sunday. He was 58.
Gomez, who was based in Phoenix, covered baseball for SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and other ESPN studio shows, live events and radio. During his 35-year career, he covered more than 25 World Series and more than 20 All-Star Games.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn that our friend and colleague Pedro Gomez has passed away,” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, ESPN and Sports Content. “Pedro was an elite journalist at the highest level and his professional accomplishments are universally recognized. More importantly, Pedro was a kind, dear friend to us all. Our hearts are with Pedro’s family and all who love him at this extraordinarily difficult time.”
Gomez is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Rio and Dante; and daughter, Sierra.
“Pedro was far more than a media personality,” his family said in a statement. “He was a dad, loving husband, loyal friend, coach and mentor. He was our everything and his kids’ biggest believer.”

“Our hearts go out to the Gomez family,” the team tweeted Sunday night.
The son of Cuban parents who went to Miami right before he was born, Gomez was part of ESPN’s landmark 2016 coverage when the Tampa Bay Rays faced the Cuban national team in Havana. He returned his father’s and brother’s ashes to the family’s home on that trip. He also covered a U.S. men’s national team soccer match in Havana in 2008 for ESPN, and an exhibition game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Cuban national team in 1999.

ESPN’s Pedro Gomez shares his family’s emotional connection to Cuba and discusses several Rays players’ “eye-opening” experiences during the trip.
Gomez was a vital part of the network’s coverage of Barry Bonds from 2005 to 2007, including covering Bonds’ chase to pass Henry Aaron’s home run record in 2007.
Gomez also did play-by-play for an ESPN baseball game in 2014. He said his favorite event to cover was Game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship Series, when Chicago fan Steve Bartman reached out and attempted to catch a foul ball over Cubs outfielder Moises Alou in the playoff game against the Miami Marlins, who went on to score eight runs in the inning and force a Game 7 in the series.
Prior to joining ESPN, Gomez wrote for the Miami News, the San Diego Union, the San Jose Mercury News, Miami Herald and the Sacramento Bee — specializing in baseball coverage — before becoming a columnist and national baseball writer at the Arizona Republic in 1997.
Arizona Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall tweeted that Gomez “exemplified class and dignity at all times.”
“He was a pro and our sport will miss him dearly,” Hall wrote.
I am so sad over the news of the passing of my longtime friend Pedro Gomez of @espn who exemplified class and dignity at all times. He was a pro and our sport will miss him dearly. RIP good man.

Among the teams Gomez covered as a beat writer were the Oakland Athletics of Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, among others. Gomez once told journalist Jeff Pearlman that it was like “we were traveling with The [Rolling] Stones.”
The Athletics tweeted their condolences Sunday night, writing, “Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. We’ll miss you, Pedro.”
We are saddened by the passing of our friend Pedro Gomez. He was a fixture in the A’s clubhouse, covering the club for the San Jose Mercury News (1990-94) and Sacramento Bee (1995-97). Major League Baseball, former manager and player Ozzie Guillen, and players including Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich and Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman memorialized Gomez, as well.

Gomez was an award-winning journalist, including a first-place award from the Arizona Associated Press Managing Editors’ Association for “Discovering the Home I Never Knew,” about his 1999 trip to Cuba.
Gomez was a native of Miami and attended the Miami-Dade Community College, where he found his passion for journalism, and the University of Miami.
