Some more mobile worker progress. Had to redo a bunch of sections and I will probably need to revisit the front 'feet' again at some point. Still working out how to mount the grenade launchers; the exact angle isn't quite clear from the official images.
It's quite fun to realise, based on various shots in the show, that these things are meant to have an inner frame the way mobile suits do.

One of the fun things about the Iron-Blooded Orphans line of gunpla was all the extra weapons and accessories you could get for them. Unfortunately most of those add-on kits are out of print and hard to find now... But I did get my hands on the Option Set 1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This kit includes the smoothbore rifle we see Barbatos using in the first season of IBO, as well as a gun/lance thing and a shield that I didn't really recognize.
The main reason I wanted this set, though, is the CGS mobile worker. I love getting little vehicles and figures like that to set the sense of scale.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right away, this kit was pretty disappointing.
I know it's just a set of optional accessories... I wasn't expecting anything amazing... But I was genuinely disappointed that it's all molded in dark grey.
I really expected a multicolor runner or two. There's some obvious opportunities for color separation here - the mobile worker could've been molded in brown, the lance in white, maybe a couple separate green pieces on the shield.
But, no, it's all grey. And then we've got some ugly color-correcting stickers for the smoothbore rifle.
Tumblr media
As you can see, these accessories look absolutely nothing like the box art. And I know that box art is typically painted... But usually it's close? Similar? And in this case they're just way off. I'm absolutely going to have to paint these if I wind up actually using them at all.
Tumblr media
Again, I love how the addition of the mobile worker helps set the scale here. That's a fairly big vehicle. We routinely see a couple people riding around in/on those. They're something like tank-sized... And it's just about ankle-height on Barbatos.
Tumblr media
The iconic smoothbore rifle actually looks halfway decent in this picture - as long as you don't look too closely at the white bits. And it actually attaches to the backpack arm things.
I do wish this option set had included some alternate hands though... An open/supporting hand would've been great for a two-handed pose with this rifle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These accessories aren't really intended for Barbatos, but I don't have a lot of other IBO kits available. I think they belong on a Graze?

Just realised that part of the appeal of units using the Rodi frame in Iron Blooded Orphans (besides them looking like little potatoes/dumplings/buns with guns) is that their design resembles the old prototype Zaku unit built by the Principality of Zeon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I’m specifically referring to the Man Rodi, Landman Rodi, Monkey Rodi and my personal favourite, the Labrys)
With them appearing as exaggerated versions of the following:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Zaku prototype units (in some sources called “crabman”)
Which were then replaced with the Mobile Worker and subsequently the Waff in Gundam: The Origin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s just neat spotting common design themes with the Zaku-esque suits.

The CIS-04-74 Strukt is one of the earliest mobile units developed by the Callisto Colonies, a mobile worker designed for lunar excavation purposes, to operate in such environments it features large stable feet amd a set of high strength grapple cables in order to prevent falls or other dangers caused by low gravity. One arm features a powerful rock drill while the other bears a simple manipulator and jackhammer.
Although initially developed for lunar and asteroid mining multiple variations were developed, including the J-type which features massive reinforcements to joints, cables and the cockpit as well as various electrical tools for performing maintenance on the Helium-3 extractors of Jupiter, the D-type has been fitted with insulation and pressurisation as well has hydrojets for the exploration of the seas of Callisto and the M-type was used as a development frame work for Callisto Colonies' mobile suit programs.

(yandere! mobile phone plan shop worker x gn! reader)
*continuation from the post*
"what the-"
you mumble, staring at the message with narrowed eyes as you grip your phone. who in the world-
ah.
wait.
it's probably him.
that weirdo from the mobile phone plan shop.
you see the way he's been looking at you, seen the way his pants would tighten every time you come in the shop...
and the best part is, you never even talk to him. you don't even go near him! in fact, you'd specifically stand at least 5m away from that creep, to try and give him the hint that you're not interested.
but he's either too dumb or too blind to see it. because you swear he's getting more deranged by the day. i mean, just look at this! he fucking messaged you through the phone plan reminder chat!
ugh, he's such a creep.
maybe you'll go to the shop tomorrow and have a word with him.
maybe then he'll back off.
or not, who knows?

very much a gen z moment on my part but finding out that screensavers were originally meant to prevent still images from being burnt onto idle crt monitors was a lightbulb moment for how I read 3d workers island

Yup, that includes nonspeaking and partially speaking autistic folks too. And learning disabled autistics. And autistic folk with lots of co-occurring conditions. And autistic wheelchair users ♿️ and other mobility aid users. Did you know that increasing evidence is being found of co-occurrence of autism and hypermobility disorders, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, Marfan Syndrome and Joint Hypermobility Syndrome?
That includes queer and binary and nonbinary trans autistics - did you know autistic folks are about three times more likely to be trans or gender-nonconforming than the general population?
That includes sex workers too - did you know sex work is one job a lot of autistic folk can actually manage to do, and that’s really vital when it’s so difficult for so many of us to access disability benefits and reasonable accommodations in paid work?
That includes autistics with mental health diagnoses, including schizophrenia and psychosis. Autistic folks in prison and with criminal records too - do you know that the U.K. Government’s own disability strategy notes that about 40% of people in the criminal system are neurodivergent and/or learning disabled?
That includes Black autistics, indigenous autistics and autistics of colour, who are not only horribly more likely to be the targets of violence, including fatal violence, from law enforcement and from paid carers - the Judge Rotenberg Centre, notorious for subjecting autistics to *electric shocks* as punishment, primarily hosts BIPOC folk - but are also far more likely to be misdiagnosed or go undiagnosed?

Decided to make some progress with the mobile worker model before I start on the Shiden, since this is also an exercise in scaling up from a 1/144 model.
Apparently these things can detach the central section as an escape toboggan. Not quite sure how that works, if I'm honest, since none of the images I've seen so far really indicate where the extra wheels should go . . .

recent events have me thinking back to a couple months ago when I got into it with my parents over immigration and said “if your family was in danger and you had no other option but to cross into another country illegally in search of help, you would.” that’s it. that’s all I said. both my parents were visibly pissed off and they floundered for an excuse before just replying “that’s not the same thing”, and I did clarify that they meant not the same as a mexican citizen coming into america for the same reason. they think it’s different because they’re white and american. I’ve watched both parents commit crimes in moments of necessity for the safety and health of their family members with my own eyes. it’s not different at all.

Healthcare Professionals Actually Suck: ✨️~An Experience~✨️
Storytime because this is actually insane-
So quick summary: yesterday I had my first appointment with my physio therapist who, to put it mildly, was a complete prick.
(It says on my file that I'm restricted to gentle excercise only because I'm only just starting out with my treatment/medication and they've confirmed deterioration of my joints in xrays)
So when my physio therapist asks me to do something, even though it is causing me pain, I figure that these directions and orders are something I should follow - because he's the professional right? - so this guy is checking my extensions and mechanics, running physical strength tests, etc, and says that I can over-extend my knees and elbows, etc:
Me: Yeah a few doctors recently have mentioned that I might have hypermobility-
Physio: NO, you AREN'T HYPERMOBILE, I'm just stating the difference between your two knees!
(Now I have never been diagnosed as double-jointed, etc, so I just believe him and try and ignore the fact he's just yelled at me and keep doing as he's asked)
Eventually he assigns me this excercise because my "shoulders are weak" - his words - and he has me use this elastic band to go over my hands to stretch out and pull my arms upwards, which basically makes my elbow shriek like the devil and I have to stop.
Me: is it supposed to hurt?
Physio: Well of course your muscles will ache when you're excercising!
Me, having built up strength on another doctor's orders and knowing damn well what the difference is: No, I mean is it supposed to hurt my joints? Like my elbow, I mean.
Physio, exasperated and condescending: well will it hurt all day?
Me: yes
Physio, throws his arms up in the air, grabs the band off of me and tosses it on to his desk as he slumps into his chair and starts typing furiously into his computer: Well forget it then!
- and then he said my body and joints were fine and I didn't need any physio therapy whatsoever because there was nothing wrong with me 🙃
AND HERE'S WHAT GETS ME-
I had another appointment today with a pediatrist and he did some mechanics and extensions tests, etc.
Pediatrist: Hey, you have hypermobility! You're double-jointed, and since you're already at risk of osteoarthritis because of your RA, this could cause you some serious problems in the future!
Me: What? But the physiotherapist yesterday said I didn't and dismissed me from physiotherapy?
Pediatrist: He did what-
- Anyway, I'm now getting rockerbottom shoes to protect my already damaged joints from aggravating themselves further, and launching a formal complaint because that physiotherapist also told me I shouldn't be using my stick on the side that provides me with the most balance and support because he thinks what's best for me is using it on the other side, which I've tried and tested and does not work, and this launched a 15 minute argument. Don't wanna go with the "he started it" thing but I was not the one yelling in that office...
TLDR; I got dismissed from physio cos a therapist 1. didn't read my file and 2. had a temper tantrum when his uninformed opinion didn't work. My pediatrist set the record straight for me the next day.
What a fun week I'm having, and it's only Tuesday!
