Adrien is demiromantic.
Well, not like canonically, but I think it makes sense if he is in the show. And also because I’m doing my own rewrite and have fully creative freedom he is going to be on the aromantic spectrum and NOT JUST BECAUSE I AM OKAY I swear but because it makes sense for who he is.
In the show, Adrien is almost entirely oblivious to people who have crushes on him. He doesn't really think about romantic situations unless others prompt him to or he gets close to someone. In my rewrite, it is very similar. I don't think it's ever gonna be explicitly said or anything but if you wanted to label him it would be as demiromantic.
(Demiromantic is an identity on the aromanic spectrum which basically describes people who don’t experience romantic attraction towards others unless they are close with them.)

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Rewrite: The Romance Subplot for the Planned Seasons
One of my goals for my rewrite is to make the romance subplot of the series less drawn-out, more cathartic, feature more of the side ships of Lukanette, Adrigami, and even Marichat, and also get more gay. So without further ado, here's the romance subplot for the first five seasons:
Season 1 (Equivalent to seasons 1 and 2, twice the length of a normal season): Basic lovesquare antics. Marinette loves Adrien, but not Chat Noir. Adrien loves Ladybug, but not Marinette. They're also both fucked-up. Marinette knows Adrien's schedule and far too many personal details about him. Adrien as Chat acts entitled to Ladybug's love and even causes an akuma with his entitlement. He does get raked over the coals for that and after Glaciator/the Ice Cream akuma becomes far more respectful towards Ladybug, but still harbors love for her. He starts to move on from her after Frozer/the Ice Skating akuma, however.
Season 2 (Equivalent to season 3): The love square reversal happens a few episodes in. Yes, really. Adrien gets over Ladybug in favor of Marinette, while Marinette tries to put her feelings of Adrien aside to prove to her class that she isn't just jealous of Lila and targets Chat Noir instead. She does act salty at Kagami for a few episodes, however. During the kwamiswap Lady Noire is utterly down bad for Mister Bug as they fight All Eyes on Mecha. Desperada's arc of Ladybug picking Adrien in favor of Luka is replaced with picking Chat in favor of Luka. The season 5 episode where Marinette and Chat Noir go on a date and gets the ice cream man akumatized occurs here. Alya has doubts about Marinette's crush. She's right, and eventually Marinette realizes that and goes back to Adrien. Since the two are in love with eachother, things work out quickly and easily and they get together and kiss by the season finale.
Season 3 (Equivalent to seasons 3 and 4): On the first episode of Season 3 Adrienette has a horrific messy breakup after Adrien discovers the Schedule and similar things. I was thinking of putting it four episodes in, but I decided 1. it would be better if it was the beginning of the season and 2. I want Adrienette fans to feel the same despair I felt as a Lukanette and Adrigami fan at the start of season 4. The rest of the season focuses on the aftermath of this nightmare breakup. Ladybug and Chat Noir comfort and give advice to each other about the breakup and coalesce into a queerplatonic couple. They still don't figure out their identities because they're dumb teens. Marinette and Adrien start dating Luka and Kagami respectively halfway through the season and their relationships get plenty of time to shine. Marinette genuinely falls in love with Luka. Same with Adrien and Kagami. The love square is dead. Good riddance. Thankfully, Marinette does apologize to Adrien, and they make up and become just friends.
Season 4 (Equivalent to season 4): Here's some context: in the Season 3 finale, Hawkmoth was finally defeated but not Coeur, the woman behind Hawkmoth. What's worse is 1. Master Fu had to abdicate guardianship to Ladybug and 2. Coeur managed to discover multiple hero identities. So now Ladybug is working overtime creating guardian potions and doing nightly patrols to check up on everyone who got exposed. She's getting stressed, she's burning herself out, and so her parents start helping her with her guardian duties (they've known since season 1,) giving Ladybug a support group that she's not telling Chat Noir about. And kittycat's getting suspicious. He knows Ladybug's not telling him information and in general he feels like he's on the level of the side heroes rather than one of the main two, causing relationship troubles in their queerplatonic couple. Chat Noir starts training to compensate for this, to the point where he awakening his fullest Miraculous powers (infinite cataclysms!). All of this hard work for both of them causes strain in their civilian relationships, and they unfortunately have to break up because of it and because they can't tell Luka/Kagami their secret identities. And then Luka accidentally finds out both heroes' identities while Kagami manages to figure them out on her own. As for the stuff between Ladybug and Chat Noir, it gets resolved by Cat Walker, although here Ladybug is more unnerved by Cat Walker, and she apologizes to Chat Noir and lets him as much in the loop as she can without compromising her identity.
Season 5 (Equivalent to season 5 except not really): Ladybug and Chat Noir are back as a queerplatonic couple, baby! The two of them against the world! And also the other heroes! The fun parts come from their civilian relationships. Luka and Kagami, now that they know our heroes' identities, start dating them again, but the other way around. Lukadrien and Marigami. These relationships are arguably better than the other ones, too. Luka and Adrien share so much in common that they really get eachother, while Marinette is more comfortable with her sexuality and has a girlfriend that pushes her to be more, and Kagami has a loving relationship with little-to-no secrets! Rose is ecstatic. Tomoe is pissed because no Adrigami. Also, at the end of the season, after Coeur fucking dies and Felix, her last minion, is arrested for being a butt, we finally get an identity reveal between Ladybug and Chat Noir! And if this ends up as the series finale, Lukadrien and Marigami converge into the polycule of the gods, Lukadrigaminette!

Some old sketch art abt my take on the villain miraculous universe.
LB and CN would start off the same for the most part but they were given their miraculous by the guardian organization of their world and are told that they are to fight the HM of this world and retrieve his miraculous.
During a big fight CN accidentally uses a strong cataclysm on LB. It’s really early on in their relationship in this world so this has a big effect on it.
They get impatient and move onto more destructive ways of luring HM out and are constantly out and about, fighting regular criminals or making public appearances around the city.
Marinette has a distant relationship to her friends and family because she’s always sneaking around being LB and no longer makes clothes and only barely draws. Being LB gives her that creative freedom and she ends up spending a lot more time “as her” because of it. That freedom also causes her to be a good bit riskier in this au so París doesn’t have a really good opinion of her
Adrien also likes the freedom that the cat miraculous gives him and is extremely reckless at first which is what causes him to get reckless and hurt LB. After this he grows extremely reluctant of using his cataclysm and this causes him to use another power catastrophe(which causes bad luck to the victim instead). He also grows worried about LB being as risky as him and tries to tell her off but they end up fighting many times over this. As adrien though he continues to be that nice model boy type but he never gets close to anyone. He still likes LB and enjoys being able to be truthful with her secretly.
Gabe is mostly normal about his dead wife 😬👍. it took him a while and now he is trying to foster a relationship with his son instead, but his son has been closed off and jittery recently so he doesn’t know what to do. A lot of his time is taken up by being a magical hero. Something about LB and CN makes him feel like he needs to help them right now but they seem to be dead set on getting his miraculous. HM uses his ability to fix the damage and help civilians as he fights against LB and CNs tracking attempts. He was once contacted by another agent of the guardian organization but he got bad vibes and fled with nooroo and dusuu. He thought that he had finally shaken them off his tail until LB and CN appeared. He’s kinda like a detective in this one.
LB and CN aren’t really villains and HM isn’t really a hero 🤷‍♂️

What if I reworked the Miraculous Powers Part 2: Zodiac Boogaloo
(Part one here)
Unlike the Yinyang/Wu Xing miraculous, the big problem woth the Zodiac miraculous is that some of them are waaay overtuned while the rest are situational. So my solution is to make all of them situational! The Pig miraculous has an amazing power, fight me. Because most of these miraculous fit the idea I have for them, Ill only focus on the ones that need a change.
Mouse miraculous of Multiplication
Multitude: Stays exactly the same, I love this superpower!
Ox miraculous of Determination
Resistance: I previously changed the Ladybug miraculous so it can counter every other miraculous, which makes this miraculous kind of redundant... but I can't think of a better power, so I guess it stays?
Tiger miraculous of Elation
Clout: The user roars with exhilarating energy, forcing the target(s) of their choosing to focus on them. (Who's bright idea was it to make this thing a Black Cat knock off? At least the Goat miraculous is used differently than the Ladybug, but the Tiger and Cat have the same job of destroying stuff!) (So Juleka's whole character arc is that she wants to come out of her shell and she wanst her dad to see her so, maybe invisibility isn't a good power for her miraculous fandom:/ Anyway, the new power is just a video game taunt, forcing enemies to hyperfocus on Juleka. You can even give her some rockstar style roars to tie that into her identity)
Rabbit miraculous of Evolution
Rabbit Hole: The user rewinds their pocket watch a set number of times to travel back in time for 5 minutes. During the 5 minutes, the user can change events in the past which is guaranteed to change events in the present. The user can also choose to go back to their time period during the 5 minutes, and if they don't they will become stuck in the past because this power cannot travel to the future outside of resetting itself during it's 5 minutes. (That paragraph up there is the only way I knew to nerf this dang thing because I couldn't think of a new rabbit based power that dosen't step on another miraculous toes. WTF. Where do I even begin. Why is the shows Rabbit miraculous so incredibly different from every other power??? Why does it get its own Doctor Who room? Why does it not have a time limit and NO I do not accept that nonsense, timey whimy answer! Just why time travel in general???? I just, oof. Anyway, the rabbit miraculous is now used the same way Marinette used it during the season 4 finale, we need to do one thing in the past to save the future and then we go back to our time. Doing anything else is going to cause a paradox)
Dragon miraculous of Perfection(the name needs to be changed but I can't think of one that relates to the weather powers)
Wind/Water/Lightning Dragon: Sigh, ok this miraculous is what I mean when I say overturned. You can change into an element, you can control an element, and you can do it 3 times in a row??? No, the Dragon miraculous power let's you control one of three elements and then it goes on cool down. No using 3 powers in a row unless you're mature.
Snake miraculous of Intuition
Future Vision: it's literally a rip off of Garnet's power from SU. The user winds up their snake bracelet to play out different future scenarios in their head. These scenarios are life like to the user, but are not actually happening. (I like the idea that this miraculous seems like it's a psychic power when it's actually time travel, but time travel is waaay overpowered for a zodiac miraculous. Clairvoyance it is then)
Horse miraculous of Transportation
Voyage: The power gets you to your destination because it's a horse, get it? It's super lame, but I'll take it (at least this miraculous requires intelligence to use effectively, which matches its holder's personality. More than I can say for some other miraculous) (wait a minute this is the Miraculous of Migration now, wtf)
Goat miraculous of Passion Imagination
Genesis: Miraculous of Passion, dafaq??? Anyway, the power is still a discount of the Ladybug miraculous but it gets to stay for having a different function than the Ladybug power (I win button vs imagination power)
Monkey miraculous of Derision
Uproar: The power is a little op, but because of the changes I made to the Ladybug and Cat it shouldn't be too bad. (I like how this miraculous title foreshadowed that Kim is like low key a jerk.)
Rooster miraculous of Pretension
Sublimation: The user makes an impossible claim about one of the abilities they already possess, and the power makes that claim true for 5 minutes. (it was so easy to not make this thing broken, but the writer just had to use it as a lazy reason for why Hawkmoth can turn invisible! My reworked power works the way we all thought it did before season 5, it only effects physical abilities you already had. Kicking a ball into a goal is something you can already do, but with the rooster you can never miss a goal. This rework is still pretty powerful as far as zodiac miraculous go, but its no where near as bad as before)
Dog miraculous of Adoration
Fetch: Stays the same, it's not overtuned and it makes thematic sense for a dog hero.
Pig miraculous of Jubilation
Gift: Stays the same. F everyone who says its a bad power, its one of the best!

So which au has been more fun to work on, Bugettes or the Rewrite?
Ooooh, so, they both are fun, though I think I'd vote the Rewrite.
It has a lot more for me to work off of, a lot more material presented and I just have to look it over, think about what I want to keep or how I can make something work, what I want to change, and what should just be cut away.
While Bugettes has to be more built from the ground up. There is some material to work off of, and some ideas from canon I can use, but it's not the same as the show by set up. And the development of it, planning wise, is still pretty early, and there's nothing I can say is for sure yet.
Mindful, there's not a lot I can say for sure in the Rewrite itself for some details as some of it will depend on the writing (and sometimes works just write themselves whether you planned that or not), but I do have better defined ideas for it. Like, the biggest struggle for the Rewrite is some decision making, because there's a lot of possibilities and potential ideas I can see.
Some of it is minor and honestly just needs to wait until it's been written out and see what will be best; like shipping for Alya and Nino. Do I want to do DJWifi? Do I want to mix it up? Do I want to pair Alya with a girl (like Aurore, Chloe, or Kagami) and do I want to pair Nino up with a guy (like Adrien or Ali)? Is there any other guys and girls I want to try with them? Cause DJWifi I'm not attached as a ship and canon did nothing for me, so I feel I don't have to do them. I'm not even doing the canon endgame so that kinda extends to all ships. Aside from Felinette, which I am going to aim to do as my endgame, everything is kinda on the table.
And for something like that, I may just have to wait out writing it out and see what will work best.
But some of it is big plot stuff. Like, do I want to do Gabriel is Hawk Moth or do I want to do him as a red herring? I have ideas for both. I can make either work.
If I can't decide, I may just have to write it out and see what will work better.
Another factor is that the Bugettes are going to be a smaller project while the Rewrite is planned to be bigger. Like, at minimum, it's planned to be about 3 seasons + trying to work off the Specials. But it could go for more. Especially as I now have, what 28 Miraculous to cover? And they're not set to start popping up officially until s2. And there are plans to try and do some non Miraculous villains. Yeah it may go on to about to more seasons...
It's going to be a big project.
Bugettes so far are planned to wrap up with Black Widower's defeat, though it could extend to Scorpion and Centipede depending on what's going on with them. But we'll see, that is still pretty early for me to say anything on.

Miraculous Make No Sense
so I changed how they work.
I love me a well-thought-out and deliberate magic system. I love seeing the different rules and properties of how magic works and I love seeing how the author expands and works around those rules. Limitations are placed, followed, and then explored.
Miraculous Ladybug doesn't do this.
The powers are unbalanced and unrestrained. Miraculous can do whatever the writers want them to whenever they need it to happen. There are no limitations to the powers and the powers don't balance one another out.
This was the first issue I tackled in my rewrite.
Miraculous Overview
I decided that there are two "categories" for miraculous. They are either first or second-ring miraculous. (This is taking inspiration from the miracle box featured in the show and how the miraculous are organized into different rings).
What ring a miraculous belongs to determines how "powerful" it is. All miraculous, regardless of what ring or miracle box they belong to, have the following features:
It is a piece of jewelry
It is connected to and contain imagery of an animal
When a miraculous is worn by a person, the person will be granted, regardless of what ring or miracle box the miraculous belongs to, the following items:
They will now be able to see all Kwamis (regardless of miracle box or ring affiliation)
A unique phrase that will allow them to transform between civilian attire and hero attire
If a person is transformed, they will:
Get a magic girl costume and a magical girl transformation! The costume combines elements of the wearer's personal tastes and the animal associated with the miraculous
Have general enhancements (i.e. they are faster, stronger, have quicker reflexes, etc. but mental capabilities remain unchanged; if they’re dumb as fuck they stay dumb as fuck)
Have a magic weapon/object unique to the miraculous that serves at the housing unit of their special ability
One power unique to their miraculous
All miraculous have the attributes featured above, however, a first-ring miraculous grants the wearer 2 additional special abilities that a second-ring miraculous doesn't.
Special Abilities
In the rewrite, the special ability unique to the miraculous is how I am classifying the powers of each character. Cataclysm, Lucky Charm, Mirage, Venom, etc. are all the special abilities of each miraculous.
Second-ring miraculous have temporary special abilities. If the fox miraculous wearer casts Mirage and then detransforms, Mirage deactivates the illusion dissipates. However, first-ring special abilities are permanent (with one exception, more on that later). So when a ladybug wearer uses Restoration ("Restoration" being the new name for the "Miraculous Ladybug" power seen in the show) and then detransforms, all the damage they just repaired stays repaired.
Powers are also draining to the wearer. The bigger or more precise the use of the power is, the more physically draining it is. It takes a lot of strength, both physically and mentally, as well as a deep connection with the miraculous/kwami to use it for a wider range of uses. It is pretty easy for a black cat wearer to activate cataclysm and let it do whatever it wants, but it is more difficult to control that damage to a certain area or to destroy tougher materials. This adds more restrictions to the powers and gives the characters something to work on.
First-Ring vs. Second-Ring
For second-ring miraculous, there is only one special ability, hence why the fox miraculous only has mirage, but first-ring miraculous have multiple (why the ladybug miraculous has lucky charm and miraculous ladybug and de-evilize/deakumatization and-). This is because first-ring miraculous are more powerful.
I think of each miraculous wearer as having spell slots. For second-ring wearers, they only have 1 spell slot and 1 spell in that slot they can use. For first-ring wearers, they have 3 spell slots with 2 spells that are permanently stuck there.
To use an example from the show:
Any wearer of the ladybug miraculous, regardless of any differentiating factors, will always be able to use "Lucky Charm" and "Restoration". However, that third spell slot can be switched out to fit the situation. This third slot is there to be able to counteract and balance out other miraculous. So if a wearer of the ladybug miraculous thinks the wearer of the butterfly miraculous is using akumatization for nefarious reasons, that third "slot" would acquire a "spell" that directly combats akumatization, which is where the de-evilize ability in the show comes in.
This third ability only exists to combat other miraculous. If, for instance, a ladybug wearer is fighting in a war, the third ability won't make them bullet proof or something because guns are not a product or feature of a miraculous. The third ability only develops to counteract other miraculous.
In addition to that, this third ability only develops as a result of intense emotion. If a ladybug wearer just dislikes another wearer, the third ability isn't going to manifest, but if the ladybug wearer truly believes with every fiber of their being that another miraculous is being used for evil, then the ability will form.
So in the show, Marinette doesn't gain the ability to de-evilize right away. Only when she gets deeply and emotionally invested in the battle does that third ability form.
The final bit about the third power is that you can only use one third power at at a time. Going back to the spell slot analogy, you can have multiple spells you know how to use, but because there is only one slot available, you can only "equip" one spell at a time. When a spell is replaced with another, its effects disappear. Since two of the spell slots are permanently taken up, there is only one "customizable" spell slot.
Final Notes
Miraculous are all about balance. All miracle boxes have 2 rings, and the first ring only ever have 2 miraculous. These miraculous are always opposites and balance each other.
Which is why it makes no sense that Ladybug has so many fancy ass powers and Chat Noir only has cataclysm. Like what??????? So I ended up severely limiting Ladybug's powers and adding more restrictions and clarification. I also wrote in a new power for Chat Noir but this is already long enough so I'll save those details for a different post. :)

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Rewrite: What's in the Box?
So this is the contents of Master Fu's Box in this rewrite. Since there are only two Miraculous here, the guardians take in, protect, and utilize all sorts of magical items instead. A lot of these items are larger than mere accessories, but the box stays the same size. It's just non-euclidean. Bigger on the inside, you know.
Also real quick a definition of magic: Magic is a form of energy that is attracted to people's ambition and willpower. It can be pretty hard to attract magic at first, but thankfully there's magical items like the ones in the miracle boxes for that. So without further ado, here's what's inside Master Fu's Miracle Box, the Heavenly Miracle box with some extra items given to him by the Order of The Guardians as they collapsed:
The Ladybug Miraculous (Contains Tikki, one of the seven essences of reality that takes the form of an incorporeal fairylike entity known as a kwami. Tikki is the essence of creation and is associated with good fortune and light.)
The Black Cat Miraculous (Contains Plagg, one of the seven essences of reality that is also a kwami. Plagg is the essence of destruction and is associated with bad fortune and darkness.)
The Five Elemental Idols (Basically the Legendary Spirits from Digimon Frontier: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Wood)
The Saint's Corpse (Peacock Miraculous Equivalent; Lost and Scattered; Coeur has the heart while a retired supervillain has the ribs, wings, and pelvis.)
Wayzazz (An immortal tortoise with a snake's head, tail, and 'neck.' Has human-level intelligence but no powers, and really just keeps Master Fu company. He and the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous are the only items that can be accessed at the start of the season due the tumor Coeur created on the Miracle Box.)
A Time Bomb (Blows up time. Smash it to blow it up and be sent back in time alongside anyone close to you. Click one way to set a reset point. Click the other way for the Time Bomb to set the reset point. Don't worry, it has failsafes to prevent infinite loops.)
The Puzzle Box, a box of layers and layers of puzzles, containing Chronos, the essence of space (one of the seven essences of reality!)
Energos, another one of the seven essences of reality.
The Pseudo-Mouse Miraculous (convergent evolution; made by a Victorian English woman with passion, a desire to become a mouse, and a love for skip rope. Lacks a kwami and was picked up by Fu instead of the guardians themselves.)
The Frozen Heart (Crystalline ice heart that never melts attached to a chain necklace made of similar ice. Wielder can create and control ice. Works best with ice queens with hidden fury. Useless with overemotional people.)
The Power Gauntlet (Golden adamant gauntlet with magical gemstones, that grants super strength on the arm it's on.)
The Holy Grail (Golden and platinum adamant with magical gemstones. Doesn't grant immortality but any liquid inside it becomes purified and delicious.)
The Dominion Crown (Also golden adamant with magical gemstones. Wear the crown on your head and create a large bubble. That bubble is your domain, and you have full control over what goes on inside it. Basically the Op-Op Fruit combined with the Turtle Miraculous.)
A Philosopher's Stone (One of the larger ones, if not the largest one. Has a golden adamant container decorated with magic gemstones. A stone that resembles white jade and displays both solid and liquid properties. Put in the right ingredients to convert any material into another material. Smells like salt and rotten eggs. Handle with care.)
Excalibur! (Not to be confused with the prop sword in the stone. Silvered adamant blade with a golden adamant and magic gemstone hilt.)
The Miraculous Grimoire, a dense book detailing all the magical objects, species, and spells in this world. Lost by Master Fu. Found by three archaeologists.
Feel free to ask any more questions about these magical items, btw. I love infodumping and adding detail to my work.

miraculous rewrite part 3: adrien agreste
ok so just before we start all of this. The biggest change with adrien will be his fashion, because i personally do not have a ton of issues with him. Oh and i'm getting rid of the sentimonster thing
Adrien was born into a happy family, or so he thought. He had a mom and dad who loved him, more money then god, and lots of people around the house to take care of him. He would have sp much fun! When he was 7 all of that changed.
His mom got sick with a terminal illness. He was left home with his attendants more and more, because his father had to take his mom to hospital visits, and he had work, and she couldn't plau with him anymore. Soon people started coming to his house, once, twice a week.
As a hope to distract him, gabriel started putting him in his advertisements. And he was a hit! And it seemed to make his parents happy. Sure there were weird guys, and he found the clothes uncomfortable, but it made his mom smile. And soon he got to spend more time with her to!
His dad got tons a family photos with them, she came to his shoots, and would play with him again! He thought she was getting better! Sure people still came, and tthere were whispered conversations he wasn't a part of, but he thought it was about boring adult stuff. The stream of people had stopped comin and everything! Life was looking up!
It all shattered when he was 10. Not even two weeks after his tenth birthday, she passed. He didn't know how he had been so wrong, so off the mark. She told him she loved him and then she was just... Gone. He was broken, devastated. But that barely scratched the surface for his father. He became a shell of himself, a broken man. He cut himself off, from everyone, leaving him to play with his new assistantt/nanny and bodygaurd. But he didn't really feel like playing anymore. It was less fun. He found himself not wanting to go out, only leaving the house for photoshoots and other modelling stuff. His fatheR didn't even leave for those anymore.
He ended up getting homeschooled by nathalie, his fathers assistant, because going out caused him to much anxiety. He didn't like being constantly fawned iver and looked at. Especially the weird looks. But after awhile his dad wanted to attempt to bring some normalcy back ibto his life, and enrolled him into school. So, 5 years after his mom died he went back to school, and had no hope. Until he met marinette...
Redesigns coming soon!
