Mizumachi was familiar with the term NPC, as he’s had his fair share of playing games when he was younger, but he wasn’t sure about lore-relevant and how it related to the conversation. It was always a toss up with him to determine if he’d even question whatever was confusing him. Today, the coin toss landed on, ‘let it pass. If it isn’t Football or swimming related, let it go.’
“Mhaa~ It’s pretty easy to make lots of friends when you’re in sports! It aint always like them sports manga, yanno? We can respect our rivals and be friends!”
Sure, rivalry and competitiveness ran high, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t be friends outside of the sport. He became friends with all sorts of people from different schools. Respect goes a long way in sports! A lot of players gotta be adaptable because, like, teams change all the time. After graduating from highschool, teams all split up and went to play for different teams. You gotta learn!
“Yeah! I’m starvin’! Let’s eat!”
His stomach growls as if on cue. He moves to help Vivian carry all the food so that they could feast upon all the delicious food!
"Huh, yet another lore-relevant NPC I have no prior knowledge of!" Vivian ends up musing aloud. Why, as far as she knew, this was the first time Mizumachi ever brought up 'Kurita-senpai' in conversation, making it more apparent he had a life and social circle before meeting her. Considering she had never met him, however, Vivian couldn't exactly conjure an image of what he might potentially look like inside her own mind... which made her wonder if that might also be the case with Mizumachi every time she mentioned Hayate. Well, regardless, it doesn't take long for her to lift both arms behind her head when next it occurred to her she has yet to elaborate further, meaning she had unintentionally allowed the silence between them to linger for a bit too long.
"You sure have befriended a lot of people during your finite lifetime, haven't you, Kenny? And alright-y! Since you lack any objections whatsoever, you'll be the first I'll inevitably summon once I manage to lock eyes on another prospective feast," Vivian then adds with yet another nod, only to jolt a little when the cashier by the food truck proceeded to announce their food was ready after depositing all their takeout boxes into a large, brown paper bag and positioning their drinks beside it. By this point, her bespectacled gaze would practically gleam in excitement.
"Ooh, it's ready! Come, Kenny, let us venture forth into a path of burgatory bliss!" Vivian finally urges, and without another single moment's thought, eagerly rushes forward to procure the Cokes she had purchased not so long ago.

“Surfs up and Sweets down”
@psiiki Continued from: [x] ((Imma just gonna write as if they sorta know each other by now ahahaha that way Mizumachi can be just a bit more overbearing))
[水] - Mizumachi smiled brightly at Saiki agreeing to go to the beach with him. He honestly wasn’t really expecting for the guy to say yes, but he wasn’t going to give him the luxury of taking back his words.
“Awesome! Let’s go!”
The tall blonde started jogging in the direction of the beach, fully intending to run his way over there or something--- it’s good training, yanno? He turned around to see that his pace was WAAAAYYYYYYYY faster than Saiki’s pace who was, by the looks of things, taking his time.
This won’t do at all! Mizumachi trotted back and picked him up. Is he going to pick Saiki up and run the rest of the way there? YOU BET! Consider it HARDCORE TRAINING!
“Let’s go! Make sure you don’t fall, Saiki! Well, if you do, i’ll just buy you a dessert.”

Mizumachi smiles brightly at her reassurance that she liked the fact that he talked a lot, so he didn’t have to try hard to reserve a few brain cells to remember to dial it back a little bit. It’s hard when you’re a chatterbox! You sometimes forget to turn off that voicebox!
“You’re a great listener! It’s fun talkin’ to ya!”
Mizumachi laughs at the NPC comment as a certain ‘chibi’ came to mind instantly. Komusubi-kun always spoke in various grunts and snorts. Very rarely would he actually say a word or two when the grunting wasn’t going to cut it. They called it the language of the strong guys, and sometimes Mizumachi found himself understanding what he was trying to say, but his understanding was lacking when you asked someone like Otawara or Kurita to translate.
“I know someone who talks in a series of Fuugooo and uuuugoooo kinda sounds. The real TOUGH guys can understand what it means, it’s kinda cool, actually! Haha, I could understand a bit of it.”
Hm… a linebacker… the guy who would pass and throw around the ball? Anyone on the team could throw and pass the ball around if the situation called for it, but—that was probably the quarterback she was thinking about, right?
“A linebacker is a defensive player. You have offense and defense, and at the line of scrimmage, the linebacker will try to stop the opponents from advancing. They’re usually some big and strong guys. The quarterback is usually protected by this big guys, he’s the one who passes and throws the ball to start the offensive play. The real mastermind of the team.”
Mizumachi wasn’t the smartest tool in the shed to put it mildly, but he was pretty sports smart! He was an incredibly athletic sort, being able to excel in most sports if he tried.
“Shin? He’s great! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him eat anything unhealthy. He’s easily one of the best players. He was on Team Japan when we represented the nation.”
Good times, good times. That was so much fun! It was wild!
"Nah, you're fine! I actually like that you talk a lot," Vivian admits... and she wasn't lying either, because in her own opinion, quiet men honestly tended to be way more boring compared to talkative men. Why, based on her own personal experience at least, she seemed to get along with extroverts much better, to the point where it would matter very little if a man of very few words happened to be physically attractive for being good looking alone wasn't enough to keep her interested. No, they had to have a personality as well; otherwise, she wouldn't have any incentive to continually go seek them out or pester them.
"Besides, it very much beats being an NPC that would repeat the same two sentences over and over again, so I think the more you have to say, the better!" Vivian goes on to add before perching a thumb and forefinger beneath her chin. "Anyways... you said your friend was a linebacker? Pardon my ignorance, but is that the guy who would pass and throw around the ball?" she then questions. Truth be told, Vivian wasn't exactly a football enthusiast, meaning the term, 'linebacker', didn't exactly ring any bells; still, upon poring over what vague memories she had from watching television at restaurants or diners, she'll proceed to make a less than educated guess anyways.
"Welp, whatever the case, it sounds like he's quite the athlete! Have you never seen him indulge in sweets or junk food even once?" came her eventual query. Of course, as admirable as it was to adhere to a healthy diet, Vivian would be lying if she said she didn't occasionally crave matcha flavoured desserts or other delicious snacks every now and then; therefore, she couldn't imagine eating chicken and broccoli all the time.

“Ohhh Haru doesn’t know much about American Football, but that is very cool!” She felt bad that she didn’t know much about it, but she wasn’t one to lie about it. If she didn’t know, that just meant, she had to learn! “Haru does know about Swimming, however!” She felt excited to know that she knew at least one of the sports he was involved with.
“Haru herself is a member of the Gymnastics team~ Haru can do all those flips and twirls. It’s very fun-desu~” She loved the balance beam and Haru could often be found walking along the gate fences as a way to hone her balancing skill.
[水] - Gymnastics! They do all the fancy stuff, like with the ribbons and the bars, or whatever, right?
“Mhaa~Do you do the thing with the ribbons and the balls? What about those bar things? That looks like a lot of fun!”
Mizumachi understood that it had to be very physically demanding to do a lot of the things that gymnasts did. They also had to be very flexible as well. He thought it was similar to Cheerleaders and he knew they had it hard. After all, he joined in with them every now and again for fun!

wild-untamed-heart:
Well since he invited her to up the difficulty who was she to turn down the offer? This time when she sent the ball flying back towards her companion she put some spin into it so that the trajectory wasn’t quite straight. It wasn’t too challenging to start with, they were still fairly low down with their count after all, but they could increase the difficulty level as they progressed.
Any sport huh…
Thinking back on it, due to the unconventional lifestyle she had led there hadn’t really been much of an opportunity to join any clubs or play any sports. If one could count the brief stint she had appeared in high school there were the occasional games like dodge ball, basketball, volleyball and tennis that they had played during phys ed or athletic day.
That didn’t seem quite comparable to actually playing on a team though…
A grin lit her face at the mention of the beach however, as that one place she was most familiar with, having just about grown up on one.
“I love the beach~”
Suddenly having a thought, she called out a question regarding a sport that she had never tried herself but had heard mentioned before. Kajika had always thought it might be fun to try it out.
“Say, have you ever played foot volleyball?”
[水] – Ohooo~ She put a spin on the ball! Mizumachi kept his eyes on the ball and just at the right moment, he sprang into action! He managed to lob the ball upwards and it flew up super high! It’s unfortunate that the sun was high and bright today.
“Whoops, I hit it too hard again.”
He wans’t very good at the whole ‘holding back’ kinda thing, since most sports were rather aggressive and you needed to use a lot of strength. As such, Mizumachi didn’t usually hold back anything when he played sports. The pingpong ball is light, so it was travelling pretty high up there. Wonder how long it would take for it to fall back down again?
“Well... that’s ball 9 on my end. Counting on you for ball 10!”
The giant grinned, laughing to himself. He was having a lot of fun! He may have messed up with his strength, but the ball was still in play! That’s what matters! While they waited, they could just talk.
“Foot... volleyball...? Ah! Yeah! I’ve played that before! I’ve also played in the pool before.”
What sport hasn’t Mizumachi tried at least once? He loved moving his body, and his energy levels surely proved this to be true. He loved playing any sort of sport, so he would be up for playing foot volleyball if they ever went to the beach together.

“Ohh! Mhaa~ The answer is the same. I’m used to taking buses and trains so I do the same here.”
If he could get away with using just buses and trains as his modes of transportation aside from walking to and fro, then that’s what he’d prefer to do. While cars were convenient, it was somewhat of a hassle to go through all the motions of trying to get a license in a foreign country. He could consider a bike, though. It was also another great way of getting exercise in. He’ll think on that some more later.
“You visited before? Family?”
Vivian looked Asian for sure, but she didn’t quite look Japanese to him—but then again, neither did he, and he was pure-blooded! Maybe she had rarer traits?
“Me? Ahhh yeah, I’m from Tokyo. Eh?”
You wouldn’t ‘exactly detect’ a Kansai accent from him if he wasn’t from Kansai. ‘Maybe she’s saying I have a bit of Kansai in my accent?’ In reality, he was from a place a bit aways from Tokyo, but it was always simpler to say which place you were closer to than being very specific. It wasn’t necessary to be very specific about where he was from, much less with a person he’d only met mere minutes ago.
"No, I meant in Vancouver," Vivian clarifies once more. Considering she hadn't exactly specified, however, it was understandable Mizumachi wouldn't have necessarily known that. Still, judging from his answer, she could only surmise his transportation tendencies were pretty much the same in Vancouver.
"But yeah, back when I visited, I noticed many people tend to take buses or trains... including even those who were more fancily dressed," Vivian adds rather pensively. Why, as a matter of fact, she reckons even rich Japanese people enjoyed taking the train due to how efficient it was, to the point where she hasn't exactly seen many getting dropped off by a personal chauffeur like how it stereotypically was with anime characters who happened to be heiresses or heirs to their own respective companies.
The more she thought about Japan, though, the more it suddenly occurred to her she had no idea where exactly in Japan Mizumachi came from, causing her to tilt her head off towards the side.
"Oh right, that reminds me! Are you from Tokyo by any chance?" Vivian then questions, allowing curiosity to lace her tone. "'Cause when you spoke Japanese earlier, I didn't exactly detect a Kansai accent."

kemikorosu:
& . / / JIN : DON’T CAUSE ANY TROUBLE , Toya had warned him before he had left the Spirit World . Of course , someone like Jin didn’t go looking for trouble , but it sure liked to find him ! Nah , Jin didn’t care too much about fighting , not unless he absolutely had to . He just wanted to be … Him , and have fun . The only kind of trouble he had in mind was that of the mischief sorts , but not the malicious ! That had to count for something , right ?
He had been warned ahead of time that those of the human world weren’t very accustomed to seeing demons such as themselves ( AND HE WAS ONE OF THE MORE HUMAN LIKE TYPES , TOO ) but much like the element he commanded , Jin was a bit of an air - head when it came to tact . So , it was to no surprise that he had been caught flying about , enjoying all the scenery of the tall and pretty buildings . It looked a little busy if anyone were to ask him , but that didn’t mean he hated it .
Seeing someone flail their arms about down below , his curiosity had been piqued . ( SEE TOYA : HUMANS ARE FINE! THEY WOULDN’T BE SCARED OF HIM! )
It took little to no effort to join the tall man on the ground , bare feet touched concrete . Arms crossed over his chest , he canted his head from side to side , a welcoming grin on his lips . “Y’means yer not afraid ‘f me’h? ‘m not filmin’ anyshthing ‘f theh like. Wha’s a Kahm’n Rahder? Ish it cool?” Jin bombarded the human with question after question , leaning in a little closer each time as if he had suddenly forgot the concept of personal space .
[水] Eh? Mizumachi freezes on the spot and repeats Jin’s words in his brain a few times, repeating them over and over until he gets a semblance of a thought. Consider it an instinct of getting the jist of what this kamen raider was talking about based off context clues and body language.
“Eh? Why? You dangerous?”
Dude, no one is more dangerous than Hiruma. The guy got dirt on anyone and their mom. That devil stuck in a human’s body will suck your soul dry if you cross him on a dirty day. Ah, though if he’s going around doing stuff with the wind, does that mean he can affect the weather and get games cancelled? Dude, wicked—in a bad way! Cancelled games are a total bummer for any athlete.
“Mhaa~ Kamen Raiders are cool! They’re heroes, you know? If you’re not one, what are you?”
Clearly not a local if you haven’t heard about Kamen Raider, that’s for sure! Any child of Japan knew who they were and grew up with them. With multiple generations of Kamen Raiders, they sometimes have specials where old Raiders would come back for cameos and ignite the torch of nostalgia. When he was a kid, he totally wanted to be a Kamen Raider- that is, until he found something else that caught his interest. He was a bit flighty as a kid, gotta admit.
Mizumachi was an outlier and shouldn’t be considered the norm for humans of this day and age. One, he was overly accepting, two, he was a bit lacking in the thoughts department, three, he was MEGA tall, five, wait- did he skip four? What was four again? Whatever.
“What are ya doing out here, anyways? Seems like a weird place to just be hanging out alone.”

“Haha~ Sounds great! You should give me his contact number so I can make another volleyball buddy!” He had no qualms over making friends with ‘the enemy’ so to speak, and that was assuming he was playing Volleyball wherever he was.

“Hahi? Ha-HAHI!” Haru wasn’t sure she heard him correctly at first, and she was about to ask him what he meant, but before she could, he had already grabbed her and hoisted her up! This is absolutely scary on one hand, but it’s also very embarrassing!
“P-put Haru down!” If he dropped her, it was going to hurt. Luckily (for him), she wasn’t wearing a skirt today, or else this would’ve turned out a lot more hectic for the both of them.
[水] - Mizumachi startled from Haru’s shout, and he very nearly dropped her, but he kept her steady. That’s the blessing of a person who plays American Football. You’re able to catch someone right before they fall. Once the ball hits the ground, the play is over, after all. You had to keep the ball live for as long as you can during your play.
“W-woah there! Careful, or you’ll make me drop you. I’ll let you down, don’t worry.”
He gently sent her down, looking confused, not understanding what was wrong.

Mizumachi looked startled for a moment before he laughed a little bit. The ‘Hana yori Dango’ was a pretty popular idiom in Japan, and it just so happened that a manga used the idiom as a title. He didn’t read it himself, but he did hear that it was pretty popular, enough to get some drama or movie adaptions. There were some other countries that adapted the series as well, now that he thinks about it.
“Haha! I thought you were referencing the common saying of Japan. It means to prioritize things of substance over yanno, things like looks. So over flowers, you’d prefer to have dango. What a coincidence!”
Eating things with expired ingredients made sense, because you ran the risk of getting sick, or the food tasting off. He also was pretty careful about eating things that were before the expiration date. There were some things that he may be willing to go past the date if it was the ‘best by’ date, because it just meant that the food wouldn’t taste as fresh, but it hadn’t gone bad. At least, that’s something he learned recently.
“Ha! I can’t eat as much as Kurita-senpai, but I can eat my fill. Food to feed an entire army won’t scare me away from being summoned. I’ll eat like a warrior and die like one.”
By ‘die like one,’ he really meant that he’d eat until he passes out from a food coma, wake up again, and eat some more. A true warrior way. He comment about the loyal henchmen was funny to him, because he was well known for being loyal, and when you thought about a ‘Demon Commander’ like Hiruma… yeah, everyone was like a henchman to him. The horror stories he’s heard from the others- but ya gotta admit, he knows his stuff! He may rule with terror, but he’s still a good guy at the end of it! … Mostly!
Upon registering his next query, Vivian had to pause for a bit, because for as much as she loved both manga and anime, shoujo was a genre she actually tried to avoid like the plague... if only because she didn't care to read about girls getting to date the boy of their dreams; after all, girls in shoujo manga were usually much prettier than her and nowhere near relatable. Why, at least with otome games and fanfiction, there was still a degree of self-insertion present, making the romance more digestible for her, but shoujo manga, on the other hand, manages to remind her her love life was practically non-existent, to the point where she refuses to read them.
Heck, Vivian would rather even roleplay fictional anime boys herself, because despite them not sharing her gender, the ones she had most muse for would still share similarities to her and be a more idealized, masculine version of herself that gets to live out her maledom fantasies. Either way, she'll soon proceed to shift her gaze off towards the side before shaking her head.
"Nah. To tell you the truth, I haven't read nor touched a single shoujo manga for seven years now, so if my previous over-exaggeration sounds like a Hana Yori reference, I'll have you know it was one made by accidental coincidence," came her eventual admittance. ...Then again, considering how old Hana Yori was, Vivian wouldn't be surprised if her younger self did read or watch it, only to inevitably forget the rest of the plot... the same way she had with Fruit's Basket.
"And thankfully, I don't have any food allergies. I just simply abhor stuff that's made with expired ingredients..." she then adds. Honestly, the more she recalled the taste of banana bread using overripe bananas, the more she finds herself shuddering, because while she was able to easily swallow it and keep it down, the texture alone was so disgusting, it was enough to make her want to hurl. Vivian, however, doesn't manage to focus on that for long after hearing Mizumachi speak up again.
"Oh, you don't say? Would you still answer my summons like a loyal henchman, provided there was enough food to, say... feed a whole entire army?" she then questions while stroking her chin with her thumb and adopting a more pensive expression.

It was a great deal to get all that food for so little, it made you wonder what their cost margins were to sell their food for so cheap compared to other places. Maybe it was the difference of the food being from a food truck rather than an establishment with an actual stationery building that made the price difference make sense, somehow? He didn’t know, he wasn’t all that smart. Mizumachi soon discarded the thoughts when he realized it was going to require too much thought.
“I liked it. It was nice to have in the morning.”
Mizumachi always made it a point to eat all his meals and with that appetite of his, he probably could always eat more if food was offered to him. Nothing wrong with the extra calories when he was confident that he’d burn it all off soon anyways! That’s an athlete’s metabolism for you. It wasn’t often that he had waffles or hot chocolate in the mornings (which really meant he’s never done it before) and it was a fun an interesting new experience!
“Haha! Is that a ‘Hana Yori Dango’ reference? Food is great and it won’t betray you! Unless you’re allergic.”
Food allergies and sensitivities were the only way that food could betray you. Otherwise, it was your friend! Flowers were cool and all and they were nice to look at, but food was something you could enjoy while also sustaining yourself! That’s the best! It tasted good too! All you could do with flowers is enjoy them visually until they wilted and maybe smell them? Food was more practical.
“Just call me up and I’m there! I’ll always be ready to bring my stomach over.”
In the same vein, if he wanted to pig out, he will make a mental note to call her over too! Food always tastes better with good company!
"Gotcha! And considering I only have two arms, that would be immensely helpful, Kenny. Thanks!" Vivian pipes up before idling up towards the food truck with wallet in hand. Naturally, she'll then go on to place their order, and within seconds, hands over the money, which for ten burgers alongside two canned beverages, was not a whole lot; in fact, she spent what looked to only be $30. Meanwhile, places like White Spot would probably charge around $60 to $75 for the amount of burgers they were about to eat.
Either way, it doesn't take long for Vivian to casually amble back towards Mizumachi once the man handling the cashier told her their food would be ready in fifteen minutes. "Mm? Oh, don't mention it! I'm just happy we're finally able to give you a taste of home for once; besides, what I made for you last time could hardly count as an actual meal," she insists, returning her own wallet back inside her pocket. Of course, Eggo Waffles with instant hot chocolate might be delicious to anyone who wasn't picky, but given the fact it wasn't homemade nor breakfast that happened to be cooked, Vivian felt like treating him to something a little more filling; after all, this poor boy was now so very far from home, meaning the least she could do was show him a good time.
When next Mizumachi questions whether or not she was a foodie, however, she's quick to nod her head 'yes'.
"Yup, I am indeed!" Vivian confirms. "Heck, that's kinda like asking if the grass is green... you silly goose, you! But yeah, in case it wasn't obvious yet, I would easily choose a hundred dumplings over a hundred roses; therefore, I totally wouldn't mind grabbing another bite with you again!"

Being that he had at one point been on a swimming team, he had a high affinity for water. Though, athletes in general always kept themselves well hydrated, so Mizumachi couldn’t understand the notion of not bringing yourself to drink water regularly. It was like that one classmate of his who said that she could go a full day and maybe only drink a single glass of water and feel okay. He would’ve shriveled up and passed away like a dried-up prune if that was him.
Mizumachi grins at her comment about the ‘mid-alternative’ to Coke.
“Yeah! It gets the job done if you don’t have Coke, but you’ll always be wanting for Coke when you drink it.”
Pity about the Fanta, but he realized that it wasn’t as common or well-loved as a drink here than it was in Japan.
“Right, ten teriyaki cheeseburgers and two cokes. I can carry everything for ya.”
He certainly had the arm span to carry everything and more if needed. You could say that it was a perk of being tall, your proportions usually scaled accordingly. He was excited for the burgers, because the smell coming from the food truck was no joke already! With how it smelled, he was sure that it was going to taste great even without him having taken a bite yet.
“Thanks for showing me this place, Bia. Imma come here often!”
A repeat customer who ate a ton in a single sitting could probably be considered both a blessing and a curse if he was going to come around during lunch rush all the time. It was comforting to know that he could enjoy something cheap and tasty, somewhat reminiscent of home.
“Are ya a foodie? Gotta show me all the nice places to eat at!”
He already trusts her food judgement, so, if she ever needed a bud to eat with—count him in!
Vivian nods away in agreement for to her, having a considerable amount of burgers without any soda didn't seem like something that's really heard of... and yeah, perhaps there were way better palate cleansers to be had than carbonated drinks, but as this was a food truck and not a restaurant, the selection of beverages they could realistically order would understandably be a bit limited.
"Welp, I wouldn't go as far as to say I necessarily understand 'everything', per say, but yeah, once you manage to live through twenty one years on this planet, you start discovering some pretty basic stuff... like, for instance, how the human body gets thirsty if you consume salty snacks yet do not occasionally bring yourself to drink water throughout regular intervals," Vivian states. Granted, most would consider that to be 'common sense', but as per usual, she frames it more like an academic study than redundant knowledge nobody would truly bother disputing.
Either way, it doesn't take long for her bespectacled gaze to soon settle on the drinks menu, which was situated to the right side corner of the food truck... and to her delight, Coke was listed as one of the drinks that were available to order, causing her to clasp both hands together.
"Ooh, what do you know?! They do indeed have Coke! No Fanta to be seen, though... then again, at least we aren't forced to choose Pepsi, which is the mid alternative to Coke," Vivian pipes up. Of course, after the final customer leaves, she'll then finally pull out her wallet before turning to Mizumachi. "Alright, so to summarize super quickly... we want ten teriyaki cheese burgers with two cokes?" Vivian repeats in order to ensure they were on the same page.

“Bia is so smart! I love it!”
Who knew there was such a place so close by? He hadn’t found the place yet, and who knew how long it would’ve taken before he found it. The food truck now had a new fan who was bound to visit pretty often any time homesickness struck him- which was surprisingly often if he was left alone with his thoughts.
The jock laughs at the comment that the food truck wasn’t going anywhere. It wouldn’t sprout legs and run away—but it had wheels, didn’t it? Couldn’t it drive off?
“Yeah! A Teriyaki cheese burger sounds great!”
Sometimes, he’d go into restaurants and find that the food was very different compared to his expectations, but if going by the smell alone, he was sure that he was going to like the burgers here. He normally wasn’t that picky when it came to food anyways, but still! It was a kind of betrayal for someone who craved familiar tastes to walk into a restaurant and walk out of it confused over what he’d actually eaten. He learned the hard way that many ‘fusion’ places weren’t… the best. Guess not every fusion was stellar and epic. Sorry Goku and Vegeta.
“You really understand everything, huh? You’re right! If you’re going to be eating a lot of burgers anyways, ya gotta drink something that pairs well with it. Coke is the best! Fanta is also good, though.”
If you were going to be eating your fill of burgers, was there really any real difference if you chose to drink soda over water? The difference was minor at that point, so there was no point in picking straws. Water was his preferred drink for regular hours, but if he was doing rigorous exercise, then he would reach for sports drinks to replenish his electrolytes. Soda was for whenever he was treating himself to some junk food. Might as well go big or go home (and eat healthier).
Considering the burgers themselves were very much based on Japanese cuisine, Vivian had been excited to see Mizumachi's reaction to the food truck... and just as she had predicted, it seemed he was pretty psyched, causing her to curl both hands into fists she'll subsequently prop up through the air.
"Right?! I knew you would like it!" came her triumphant proclamation. Why, Japan might be a much cheaper place to live in compared to Vancouver, but it does admittedly have it's charms, which was something she hopes to have sufficiently conveyed to Mizumachi. Though, given how loudly his stomach then proceeded to grumble away, Vivian supposes that was enough of an actual indicator to prove he wasn't currently feeling all that homesick, and with a laugh, she'll hastily trail after him.
"Hey, relax! It's not as if the food truck would suddenly grow legs and run away, you know?" Vivian playfully teases before settling to an eventual halt beside him. By that point, one other individual happens to be waiting in line ahead of them due to the fact he had gotten there first after the last customer left, meaning on a rather fortunate note, they wouldn't have to tolerate a super long line. "Anyways... you good with me ordering us ten teriyaki cheese burgers?" Vivian goes on to question.
"Oh, and while we're at it, how about some soda as well, so the salt from all those burgers won't make us dehydrated? Then again, I guess water would do a better job at quenching our future thirst... still, good ol' H20 just doesn't hit the same compared to Coke; therefore, I'm inclined to believe the more appropriate refreshment would be something less healthier. What about you, though, Kenny? Which beverage would you rather pick?"
#Unladielike#(Vivian03)#RPans#((Muse; Vivian))#Mizuqueue#((Ehehe you see a lot of the times people send in something that would be way later down the line in interactions))#((Like it may imply a ship or a really close friendship where the muses aren't at that level yet))#((So as such i'd be going off on a limb and guessing how things would go. So I don't treat many of my memes as canon bc it's speculation))#((If that makes any sense))#((But if I was sent something that actually fits with the canon relationship of muses then ye the meme can be canon))#((If so I'll treat them as canon and reference them in other memes or threads. So I am in agreement there))#((Ah... one of those kinda people huh? Like rules for you but suggestions for me kinda energy))#((It gets tiring dealing with people like that sometimes where it's so-- hypocritical and they don't always realize it))#((Or they do but they excuse it anyways))#((Yike... that is just awful and that would stress me out. I totally get why you weren't too stoked about tumblr rp for a while))

"Haha! I know someone who could eat like 20 burgers."
Mizumachi nods his head sagely, in total agreement with her assessment about the fries. He could still eat 5 burgers along with fries on a regular day, but he did try to consume more burgers than he did fries. Eating too many oily foods weren’t good for athletes, but he had to get his source of calories and meat from somewhere!
“That’s a healthy appetite! That’s a good thing!”
He knew a few girls on the cheerleading team who basically ate like rabbits because they cared a lot for their figure, and it was a bit worrying at times. It was good to know that Vivian wasn’t going to be starving herself because she was worried about her image. The teriyaki cheese burgers sounded so good though that he was already salivating at the thought.
Was paying for the meal a manly thing? Yeah, he could see it. In many countries it was socially the norm that the guy pays for the meals if he’s out with a woman, right? Manners and all that?
“Yeah, that makes sense. Do you hang out with guys more than girls, then?”
He asked because she said something about feeling like she was ‘one of the boys,’ and it made him curious about who she normally hung out with. Of course, there was absolutely nothing wrong in his eyes for a girl to have lots of guy friends (what, with most football club managers being girls?), but he did hear some people call that a flag or whatever. Just sounds like insecure dudes to him.
“Wooww! It looks great! Smells great too!”
He was just salivating a little bit before, but now he was at risk of drooling buckets from the smell. His stomach was just as excited if the sound of his stomach grumbling loudly was any indication.
“Let’s go!”
He basically zooms over to the food truck looking for the end of the line to stand at the end. With his long legs, his strides were large and fast. Perks of being tall.
"Wow, one of my guesses was actually right? Jocks are truly something else..." Vivian exclaims, allowing pleasant surprise to seep through her voice. Honestly, she wonders just how strenuous practice was for Mizumachi to have enough room in his stomach for ten burgers, but regardless, it doesn't take long for a pensive hum to subsequently slip past her throat.
"As for me... probably 4 or 5? When it comes to McJunior burgers at McDonalds, though, I could eat 7... provided, of course, there aren't any fries to go alongside them! But the food truck I'm taking you has such filling teriyaki cheese burgers, chances are high you'll be full from eating 4 or 5," Vivian then proceeds to point out before letting out a little laugh.
"And yeah, I guess I kinda take after my mom in the sense I like ensuring my friends are fed! I also prefer being the one to pay, since... I dunno, it manages to make me feel manlier somehow, as if I'm one of the boys. I mean, usually, girls are never expected to pay for stuff whenever guys spend time with them, right? Hence why I get such a sense of empowerment from using what little money I have on my friends..."
Then again, to most, her logic may sound incredibly silly; after all, it was now the twentieth century, meaning to genderize the concept of footing the bill itself could come across as extremely outdated. Even so, Vivian always subconsciously had the impression it would feel less like a date or would make her seem that much more 'manlier' if she was the one paying, to the point where she could count on one hand how many times she had recently allowed anyone else to treat her... which, for better or worse, remains a bad habit of hers to this very day. Still, with how much she hated being perceived as a normie, she'd rather her wallet become lighter than be forced to confront the reality she was truly a girl at heart.
Either way, they'll soon reach Wakwak Burger, causing Vivian to come to an eventual halt ahead of him. "Ta-daaaah! What do you think?" she finally turns to flash a grin at Mizumachi just as the last customer strayed off from the front of the food truck.

I never went back to the person even if they tried to follow me back on other newer blogs of theirs))#((I don’t forget my begrudged feelings easily and if I decided I’m done with someone that’s the final straw))#((Ohhhh that’s lovely to hear! Glad for it! I too seldomly get stumped on asks as I improv))#((though that’s also likely why I don’t really continue asks bc I think of them as improv non-canon things))#((They’re like… thought exercises to me so I rarely continue any))#((Probably why I prefer threads bc I know they are canon and I can work with that))#((Oh ew… that’s gross but I am happy you never got any anon hate! She’d be correct in assessing him as a ‘himbo,’ considering that he didn’t always think before he did anything… and even if he did think, it sometimes wasn’t the most logically sound. It was like most of his IQ points went into sports and athleticism. He had this idea that she could pay for his burgers and he’d pay for hers, but realized the errors of his thought process when she spoke.
“Ah! Uh… I meant to say I’ll treat next time!”
Nice save, Mizumachi. Totally believable and sound reasoning. That’ll work, right? She can pay this time around and he can pay for the next time! That way he can return the favor because she also made some breakfast for him that other time. Hm?
“Let’s go! Say, do you like feeding people?”
He keeps pace with her as she walks them to the promised burger land- or rather, truck. If he had a nickle for each time she’d fed him, he’d have two nickles. It wasn’t a lot, but it was interesting how it happened twice already in the time they’ve known each other.
Selling Japanese burgers already would have him sold. Wakwak burger was going to have a new regular customer who was craving a reminiscent taste of home, no doubt. With how hungry he was feeling, somewhere close was definitely for the better, he’ll get to eat sooner!
“Ah… I could eat 5, yeah. Some days I could eat 10. Depends on how hungry I am. I eat a lot after practice.”
Which was to say that he didn’t gorge himself on food before practice, because it would only slow him down if he pigged out on food. It was better for him to make up for the calories lost during practice by eating his fill on food afterwards.
“How about you? 1? 2?”
Seemed like a safe conservative guess for how many burgers she could eat in a single sitting. It seemed pretty fun trying to guess how much she could eat.
Of course, Vivian waits for him to finish speaking first before blinking, rather dumbfounded. Ah... were her words somehow lost in translation, she wonders? No sooner does she realize this, she'll then subsequently grimace before letting out a weak chuckle, because when it came down to it, she had completely forgotten Mizumachi happened to be quite the himbo... for better or for worse. Why, if it weren't for the fact Vivian already knew English wasn't his first language, she may find herself growing flustered over having the compliment redirected back at her, but coming from his lips, it did not sound the very least bit sexy.
"Er... listen, when I say 'treat', I meant I'll be the one footing the entire bill; in other words, your burgers will be paid for by me," Vivian finally clarifies while resisting the urge to add 'Capiche?' at the end. Honestly, the whole entire time, she felt stupid for even having to explain it, but considering this was Mizumachi she's talking about... well, perhaps further simplification was necessary. Regardless, she'll soon turn once she figures out the perfect place to take him.
"Now, come! We have a food truck to go to," Vivian announces, and upon giving Mizumachi one final peek peek over her shoulder, makes a beckoning motion with her hand before setting off. Naturally, she planned on taking him to Wakwak Burger, a food truck in Vancouver that was known to sell Japanese burgers for the very affordable price of $2.85. Granted, after recently selling off her old Miku figurine on eBay, she could afford to take him someplace fancier, but seeing as though Wakwak Burger was way closer to where they were, Vivian concluded Mizumachi would appreciate her choosing a place within walking distance.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me! How many burgers can your black hole of a stomach manage, Kenny? 5? 10?" came her eventual query, because sure enough, it finally dawned on her she has no idea how much Mizumachi could actually eat.
#Unladielike#(Vivian03)#RPans#((Muse; Vivian))#Mizuqueue#((I'm the same in the sense that I don't think it'll get much attention and bc I'd feel bad if someone feels left out for being late))#((Oh yeah? Ahh... i've been there before. Someone kept liking starter calls would like starters and never reply))#((It was like I made whole ass verses for you and you aren't going to reply? Tell me if something is wrong!))#((Eventually I blocked that person bc they went and talked about me to a person that was smth like a trigger to me at the time))#((That's super fair to get burnt out if you get a lot of starters to write and they all come out quickly. I get overwhelmed quick so FELT))#((That's why I've been working on taking things slower if I can))#((If I have nothing else to work on I may just work on it and let it sit for a bit before posting))#((I somehow haven't really mastered the skill with inbox tho. I try to work through them all in one sitting bc otherwise I forget))#((I will admit i'm more of a thread person than inbox. A lot of memes either don't work for my muses or smth else.))#((I also have bad memories bc the person I mentioned above. I was getting hate bc of them as I found out later))#((So it's still a slow healing process of me learning the inbox is okay. Random asks aren't anon hate OTL))

Mizumachi laughs in tandem, as he was always the sort to laugh along with others, even if he didn’t always know what they were laughing at. Just a team player who wants to join in on the fun!
“I guess so! Thinking uses up a lot of calories.”
Brain food, or whatever they call it, yeah? His body needed a lot of calories for his active lifestyle for one, but it also had to work extra hard in thinking a bunch for classes! There was that extra layer of difficulty because he had to attend classes being taught in another language.
“Hmmm… what am I craving…burgers? I’m good with anything though!”
He thinks about it and feels his mouth watering. He can’t help but crave his go-to convenient meal for whenever you’re super hungry. Burgers. A ton of burgers and fries! It’s a technique he learned a while back, but dipping fries into a shake is a God-tier combination!
“I eat a lot you know? Since you’ve been a good girl, that means it’ll be my treat too! Haha!”
Being the simple sort he was, and some nuances not translating over quite as nicely, he didn’t think much of it, being called a ‘good boy.’ As such, he didn’t see an issue with returning the favor by calling her a ‘good girl’ either. Well, even if he did understand, he wouldn’t have been bothered by it anyways. Guys have perverted conversations with each other from time to time, so it wouldn’t have upset him in any way- but he might have been surprised? That would’ve been the extent of it.
As soon as Mizumachi admits he's hungry, she's quick to burst out laughing with her hand hovering over her mouth... not in a necessarily mean-spirited way, of course, but the way someone would laugh when a comedian managed to land a very brilliant joke. Honestly, it might not have been the funniest thing he could ever have said in this situation, but there was just something so amusing about how they talked so animatedly about food moments prior, only to just now mention grabbing a bite to eat, that made her cheeks naturally elevate upwards as mirth dances through her bespectacled vision.
"All that hypothesizing sure stoked your appetite, huh?" Vivian finally brings herself to remark once she finishes laughing and lowering her hand back down against her side. Granted, it was actually her fault for daring to first broach the topic of which protein they'll forsake in the first place, yet at the same time, she couldn't bring herself to express guilt over making Mizumachi suddenly want food. "But sure! Was there anything you've been particularly craving? Of course, since you've been a very good boy, it'll naturally be my treat!" Vivian proclaims.
Considering this was her, however, she didn't realize right off the bat calling him a 'good boy' had an unfortunately... sexually charged implication; still, she wasn't lying about at least appreciating the fact he had answered her question so earnestly. Why, most probably wouldn't indulge such a chatterbox like her, but Mizumachi didn't seem to mind how loquacious she was, which was definitely what sets him apart from the types she usually disliked engaging with.
#Unladielike#(Vivian03)#RPans#((Muse; Mizumachi))#Mizuqueue#((Yeahh I so felt that. I get easily overwhelmed and drained so I just take it slow and am content with things as they are))#((If I want more stuff I’ll either try to branch out or I’ll find other ways to write out ideas like drabbles))#((I’m not often on this blog so I tend to miss a lot of stuff and that’s the nature of not being main blogs ig kek))#((Sideblogs are nice in that way bc then everything is connected to one blog but it also gets overwhelming quick))#((That is something that I’ve noticed that people do and I’m like you I don’t reblog until I’m caught up or will be soon))#((It’s just my way to ensure I don’t go too crazy but everyone is different))#((I know some people reblog a lot because it is a way for them to gauge if people still care to interact with them))#((I just couldn’t do it myself partially because I’m not so big on memes myself. I’m very picky with them))
