Being that he had at one point been on a swimming team, he had a high affinity for water. Though, athletes in general always kept themselves well hydrated, so Mizumachi couldnât understand the notion of not bringing yourself to drink water regularly. It was like that one classmate of his who said that she could go a full day and maybe only drink a single glass of water and feel okay. He wouldâve shriveled up and passed away like a dried-up prune if that was him.
Mizumachi grins at her comment about the âmid-alternativeâ to Coke.
âYeah! It gets the job done if you donât have Coke, but youâll always be wanting for Coke when you drink it.â
Pity about the Fanta, but he realized that it wasnât as common or well-loved as a drink here than it was in Japan.
âRight, ten teriyaki cheeseburgers and two cokes. I can carry everything for ya.â
He certainly had the arm span to carry everything and more if needed. You could say that it was a perk of being tall, your proportions usually scaled accordingly. He was excited for the burgers, because the smell coming from the food truck was no joke already! With how it smelled, he was sure that it was going to taste great even without him having taken a bite yet.
âThanks for showing me this place, Bia. Imma come here often!â
A repeat customer who ate a ton in a single sitting could probably be considered both a blessing and a curse if he was going to come around during lunch rush all the time. It was comforting to know that he could enjoy something cheap and tasty, somewhat reminiscent of home.
âAre ya a foodie? Gotta show me all the nice places to eat at!â
He already trusts her food judgement, so, if she ever needed a bud to eat withâcount him in!
Vivian nods away in agreement for to her, having a considerable amount of burgers without any soda didn't seem like something that's really heard of... and yeah, perhaps there were way better palate cleansers to be had than carbonated drinks, but as this was a food truck and not a restaurant, the selection of beverages they could realistically order would understandably be a bit limited.
"Welp, I wouldn't go as far as to say I necessarily understand 'everything', per say, but yeah, once you manage to live through twenty one years on this planet, you start discovering some pretty basic stuff... like, for instance, how the human body gets thirsty if you consume salty snacks yet do not occasionally bring yourself to drink water throughout regular intervals," Vivian states. Granted, most would consider that to be 'common sense', but as per usual, she frames it more like an academic study than redundant knowledge nobody would truly bother disputing.
Either way, it doesn't take long for her bespectacled gaze to soon settle on the drinks menu, which was situated to the right side corner of the food truck... and to her delight, Coke was listed as one of the drinks that were available to order, causing her to clasp both hands together.
"Ooh, what do you know?! They do indeed have Coke! No Fanta to be seen, though... then again, at least we aren't forced to choose Pepsi, which is the mid alternative to Coke," Vivian pipes up. Of course, after the final customer leaves, she'll then finally pull out her wallet before turning to Mizumachi. "Alright, so to summarize super quickly... we want ten teriyaki cheese burgers with two cokes?" Vivian repeats in order to ensure they were on the same page.

âSurfs up and Sweets downâ
@psiiki Continued from: [x] ((Imma just gonna write as if they sorta know each other by now ahahaha that way Mizumachi can be just a bit more overbearing))
[ć°´] -Â Mizumachi smiled brightly at Saiki agreeing to go to the beach with him. He honestly wasnât really expecting for the guy to say yes, but he wasnât going to give him the luxury of taking back his words.Â
    âAwesome! Letâs go!â
The tall blonde started jogging in the direction of the beach, fully intending to run his way over there or something--- itâs good training, yanno? He turned around to see that his pace was WAAAAYYYYYYYY faster than Saikiâs pace who was, by the looks of things, taking his time.Â
This wonât do at all! Mizumachi trotted back and picked him up. Is he going to pick Saiki up and run the rest of the way there? YOU BET! Consider it HARDCORE TRAINING!
âLetâs go!        Make sure you donât fall, Saiki!     Well, if you do, iâll just buy you a dessert.âÂ

Mizumachi smiles brightly at her reassurance that she liked the fact that he talked a lot, so he didnât have to try hard to reserve a few brain cells to remember to dial it back a little bit. Itâs hard when youâre a chatterbox! You sometimes forget to turn off that voicebox!
âYouâre a great listener! Itâs fun talkinâ to ya!â Â
Mizumachi laughs at the NPC comment as a certain âchibiâ came to mind instantly. Komusubi-kun always spoke in various grunts and snorts. Very rarely would he actually say a word or two when the grunting wasnât going to cut it. They called it the language of the strong guys, and sometimes Mizumachi found himself understanding what he was trying to say, but his understanding was lacking when you asked someone like Otawara or Kurita to translate.
âI know someone who talks in a series of Fuugooo and uuuugoooo kinda sounds. The real TOUGH guys can understand what it means, itâs kinda cool, actually! Haha, I could understand a bit of it.â
Hm⌠a linebacker⌠the guy who would pass and throw around the ball? Anyone on the team could throw and pass the ball around if the situation called for it, butâthat was probably the quarterback she was thinking about, right?
âA linebacker is a defensive player. You have offense and defense, and at the line of scrimmage, the linebacker will try to stop the opponents from advancing. Theyâre usually some big and strong guys. The quarterback is usually protected by this big guys, heâs the one who passes and throws the ball to start the offensive play. The real mastermind of the team.â
Mizumachi wasnât the smartest tool in the shed to put it mildly, but he was pretty sports smart! He was an incredibly athletic sort, being able to excel in most sports if he tried.
âShin? Heâs great! I donât think Iâve ever seen him eat anything unhealthy. Heâs easily one of the best players. He was on Team Japan when we represented the nation.â
Good times, good times. That was so much fun! It was wild!
"Nah, you're fine! I actually like that you talk a lot," Vivian admits... and she wasn't lying either, because in her own opinion, quiet men honestly tended to be way more boring compared to talkative men. Why, based on her own personal experience at least, she seemed to get along with extroverts much better, to the point where it would matter very little if a man of very few words happened to be physically attractive for being good looking alone wasn't enough to keep her interested. No, they had to have a personality as well; otherwise, she wouldn't have any incentive to continually go seek them out or pester them.
"Besides, it very much beats being an NPC that would repeat the same two sentences over and over again, so I think the more you have to say, the better!" Vivian goes on to add before perching a thumb and forefinger beneath her chin. "Anyways... you said your friend was a linebacker? Pardon my ignorance, but is that the guy who would pass and throw around the ball?" she then questions. Truth be told, Vivian wasn't exactly a football enthusiast, meaning the term, 'linebacker', didn't exactly ring any bells; still, upon poring over what vague memories she had from watching television at restaurants or diners, she'll proceed to make a less than educated guess anyways.
"Welp, whatever the case, it sounds like he's quite the athlete! Have you never seen him indulge in sweets or junk food even once?" came her eventual query. Of course, as admirable as it was to adhere to a healthy diet, Vivian would be lying if she said she didn't occasionally crave matcha flavoured desserts or other delicious snacks every now and then; therefore, she couldn't imagine eating chicken and broccoli all the time.

âOhhh Haru doesnât know much about American Football, but that is very cool!â She felt bad that she didnât know much about it, but she wasnât one to lie about it. If she didnât know, that just meant, she had to learn! âHaru does know about Swimming, however!â She felt excited to know that she knew at least one of the sports he was involved with.Â
âHaru herself is a member of the Gymnastics team~ Haru can do all those flips and twirls. Itâs very fun-desu~â She loved the balance beam and Haru could often be found walking along the gate fences as a way to hone her balancing skill.Â
[ć°´] - Gymnastics! They do all the fancy stuff, like with the ribbons and the bars, or whatever, right?Â
âMhaa~Do you do the thing with the ribbons and the balls?         What about those bar things?     That looks like a lot of fun!âÂ
Mizumachi understood that it had to be very physically demanding to do a lot of the things that gymnasts did. They also had to be very flexible as well. He thought it was similar to Cheerleaders and he knew they had it hard. After all, he joined in with them every now and again for fun!

wild-untamed-heartâ:
Well since he invited her to up the difficulty who was she to turn down the offer? This time when she sent the ball flying back towards her companion she put some spin into it so that the trajectory wasnât quite straight. It wasnât too challenging to start with, they were still fairly low down with their count after all, but they could increase the difficulty level as they progressed.
Any sport huhâŚ
Thinking back on it, due to the unconventional lifestyle she had led there hadnât really been much of an opportunity to join any clubs or play any sports. If one could count the brief stint she had appeared in high school there were the occasional games like dodge ball, basketball, volleyball and tennis that they had played during phys ed or athletic day.
That didnât seem quite comparable to actually playing on a team thoughâŚ
A grin lit her face at the mention of the beach however, as that one place she was most familiar with, having just about grown up on one.Â
âI love the beach~â
Suddenly having a thought, she called out a question regarding a sport that she had never tried herself but had heard mentioned before. Kajika had always thought it might be fun to try it out.
âSay, have you ever played foot volleyball?â
[ć°´] â Ohooo~ She put a spin on the ball! Mizumachi kept his eyes on the ball and just at the right moment, he sprang into action! He managed to lob the ball upwards and it flew up super high! Itâs unfortunate that the sun was high and bright today.Â
âWhoops, I hit it too hard again.âÂ
He wansât very good at the whole âholding backâ kinda thing, since most sports were rather aggressive and you needed to use a lot of strength. As such, Mizumachi didnât usually hold back anything when he played sports. The pingpong ball is light, so it was travelling pretty high up there. Wonder how long it would take for it to fall back down again?Â
âWell... thatâs ball 9 on my end.         Counting on you for ball 10!âÂ
The giant grinned, laughing to himself. He was having a lot of fun! He may have messed up with his strength, but the ball was still in play! Thatâs what matters! While they waited, they could just talk.Â
âFoot... volleyball...?         Ah! Yeah! Iâve played that before!     Iâve also played in the pool before.â
What sport hasnât Mizumachi tried at least once? He loved moving his body, and his energy levels surely proved this to be true. He loved playing any sort of sport, so he would be up for playing foot volleyball if they ever went to the beach together.Â

âOhh! Mhaa~ The answer is the same. Iâm used to taking buses and trains so I do the same here.â
If he could get away with using just buses and trains as his modes of transportation aside from walking to and fro, then thatâs what heâd prefer to do. While cars were convenient, it was somewhat of a hassle to go through all the motions of trying to get a license in a foreign country. He could consider a bike, though. It was also another great way of getting exercise in. Heâll think on that some more later.
âYou visited before? Family?â
Vivian looked Asian for sure, but she didnât quite look Japanese to himâbut then again, neither did he, and he was pure-blooded! Maybe she had rarer traits?
âMe? Ahhh yeah, Iâm from Tokyo. Eh?â
You wouldnât âexactly detectâ a Kansai accent from him if he wasnât from Kansai. âMaybe sheâs saying I have a bit of Kansai in my accent?â In reality, he was from a place a bit aways from Tokyo, but it was always simpler to say which place you were closer to than being very specific. It wasnât necessary to be very specific about where he was from, much less with a person heâd only met mere minutes ago.
"No, I meant in Vancouver," Vivian clarifies once more. Considering she hadn't exactly specified, however, it was understandable Mizumachi wouldn't have necessarily known that. Still, judging from his answer, she could only surmise his transportation tendencies were pretty much the same in Vancouver.
"But yeah, back when I visited, I noticed many people tend to take buses or trains... including even those who were more fancily dressed," Vivian adds rather pensively. Why, as a matter of fact, she reckons even rich Japanese people enjoyed taking the train due to how efficient it was, to the point where she hasn't exactly seen many getting dropped off by a personal chauffeur like how it stereotypically was with anime characters who happened to be heiresses or heirs to their own respective companies.
The more she thought about Japan, though, the more it suddenly occurred to her she had no idea where exactly in Japan Mizumachi came from, causing her to tilt her head off towards the side.
"Oh right, that reminds me! Are you from Tokyo by any chance?" Vivian then questions, allowing curiosity to lace her tone. "'Cause when you spoke Japanese earlier, I didn't exactly detect a Kansai accent."

& . / /   JIN   :  DONâT   CAUSE   ANY  TROUBLE ,   Toya had warned him before he had left the Spirit World . Of course , someone like Jin didnât go  looking  for trouble , but it sure liked to find him ! Nah , Jin didnât care too much about fighting , not unless he absolutely had to . He just wanted to be  âŚÂ  Him ,  and have fun . The only kind of trouble he had in mind was that of the  mischief  sorts , but not the malicious ! That had to count for something , right ?
He had been warned ahead of time that those of the  human world  werenât very accustomed to seeing demons such as themselves   (  AND HE WAS ONE OF THE MORE HUMAN LIKE TYPES , TOO  )  but much like the element he commanded , Jin was a bit of an  air - head  when it came to tact . So , it was to  no surprise  that he had been caught flying about , enjoying all the scenery of the tall and pretty buildings . It looked a little  busy  if anyone were to ask him , but that didnât mean he hated it .
Seeing someone  flail their arms about  down below , his curiosity had been piqued .  (  SEE TOYA : HUMANS ARE FINE! THEY WOULDNâT BE SCARED OF HIM!  )  Â
It took little to no effort to join the  tall  man on the ground , bare feet touched concrete . Arms crossed over his chest , he canted his head from side to side , a welcoming grin on his lips .   âYâmeans yer not afraid âf meâh? âm not filminâ anyshthing âf theh like. Whaâs a Kahmân Rahder? Ish it cool?â  Jin bombarded the human with question after question , leaning in a little closer each time as if he had suddenly forgot the concept of  personal space .Â
[ć°´] Eh? Mizumachi freezes on the spot and repeats Jinâs words in his brain a few times, repeating them over and over until he gets a semblance of a thought. Consider it an instinct of getting the jist of what this kamen raider was talking about based off context clues and body language.
   âEh? Why? You dangerous?â
Dude, no one is more dangerous than Hiruma. The guy got dirt on anyone and their mom. That devil stuck in a humanâs body will suck your soul dry if you cross him on a dirty day. Ah, though if heâs going around doing stuff with the wind, does that mean he can affect the weather and get games cancelled? Dude, wickedâin a bad way! Cancelled games are a total bummer for any athlete.
âMhaa~ Kamen Raiders are cool!        Theyâre heroes, you know?     If youâre not one, what are you?â
Clearly not a local if you havenât heard about Kamen Raider, thatâs for sure! Any child of Japan knew who they were and grew up with them. With multiple generations of Kamen Raiders, they sometimes have specials where old Raiders would come back for cameos and ignite the torch of nostalgia. When he was a kid, he totally wanted to be a Kamen Raider- that is, until he found something else that caught his interest. He was a bit flighty as a kid, gotta admit.
Mizumachi was an outlier and shouldnât be considered the norm for humans of this day and age. One, he was overly accepting, two, he was a bit lacking in the thoughts department, three, he was MEGA tall, five, wait- did he skip four? What was four again? Whatever.
âWhat are ya doing out here, anyways?         Seems like a weird place to just be hanging out alone.â

âHahi? Ha-HAHI!â Haru wasnât sure she heard him correctly at first, and she was about to ask him what he meant, but before she could, he had already grabbed her and hoisted her up! This is absolutely scary on one hand, but itâs also very embarrassing!
âP-put Haru down!â If he dropped her, it was going to hurt. Luckily (for him), she wasnât wearing a skirt today, or else this wouldâve turned out a lot more hectic for the both of them.
[ć°´] - Mizumachi startled from Haruâs shout, and he very nearly dropped her, but he kept her steady. Thatâs the blessing of a person who plays American Football. Youâre able to catch someone right before they fall. Once the ball hits the ground, the play is over, after all. You had to keep the ball live for as long as you can during your play.Â
âW-woah there!         Careful, or youâll make me drop you.     Iâll let you down, donât worry.âÂ

âBia is so smart! I love it!â
Who knew there was such a place so close by? He hadnât found the place yet, and who knew how long it wouldâve taken before he found it. The food truck now had a new fan who was bound to visit pretty often any time homesickness struck him- which was surprisingly often if he was left alone with his thoughts.
The jock laughs at the comment that the food truck wasnât going anywhere. It wouldnât sprout legs and run awayâbut it had wheels, didnât it? Couldnât it drive off?
âYeah! A Teriyaki cheese burger sounds great!â
Sometimes, heâd go into restaurants and find that the food was very different compared to his expectations, but if going by the smell alone, he was sure that he was going to like the burgers here. He normally wasnât that picky when it came to food anyways, but still! It was a kind of betrayal for someone who craved familiar tastes to walk into a restaurant and walk out of it confused over what heâd actually eaten. He learned the hard way that many âfusionâ places werenât⌠the best. Guess not every fusion was stellar and epic. Sorry Goku and Vegeta.
âYou really understand everything, huh? Youâre right! If youâre going to be eating a lot of burgers anyways, ya gotta drink something that pairs well with it. Coke is the best! Fanta is also good, though.â
If you were going to be eating your fill of burgers, was there really any real difference if you chose to drink soda over water? The difference was minor at that point, so there was no point in picking straws. Water was his preferred drink for regular hours, but if he was doing rigorous exercise, then he would reach for sports drinks to replenish his electrolytes. Soda was for whenever he was treating himself to some junk food. Might as well go big or go home (and eat healthier).
Considering the burgers themselves were very much based on Japanese cuisine, Vivian had been excited to see Mizumachi's reaction to the food truck... and just as she had predicted, it seemed he was pretty psyched, causing her to curl both hands into fists she'll subsequently prop up through the air.
"Right?! I knew you would like it!" came her triumphant proclamation. Why, Japan might be a much cheaper place to live in compared to Vancouver, but it does admittedly have it's charms, which was something she hopes to have sufficiently conveyed to Mizumachi. Though, given how loudly his stomach then proceeded to grumble away, Vivian supposes that was enough of an actual indicator to prove he wasn't currently feeling all that homesick, and with a laugh, she'll hastily trail after him.
"Hey, relax! It's not as if the food truck would suddenly grow legs and run away, you know?" Vivian playfully teases before settling to an eventual halt beside him. By that point, one other individual happens to be waiting in line ahead of them due to the fact he had gotten there first after the last customer left, meaning on a rather fortunate note, they wouldn't have to tolerate a super long line. "Anyways... you good with me ordering us ten teriyaki cheese burgers?" Vivian goes on to question.
"Oh, and while we're at it, how about some soda as well, so the salt from all those burgers won't make us dehydrated? Then again, I guess water would do a better job at quenching our future thirst... still, good ol' H20 just doesn't hit the same compared to Coke; therefore, I'm inclined to believe the more appropriate refreshment would be something less healthier. What about you, though, Kenny? Which beverage would you rather pick?"

"Haha! I know someone who could eat like 20 burgers."
Mizumachi nods his head sagely, in total agreement with her assessment about the fries. He could still eat 5 burgers along with fries on a regular day, but he did try to consume more burgers than he did fries. Eating too many oily foods werenât good for athletes, but he had to get his source of calories and meat from somewhere!
âThatâs a healthy appetite! Thatâs a good thing!â
He knew a few girls on the cheerleading team who basically ate like rabbits because they cared a lot for their figure, and it was a bit worrying at times. It was good to know that Vivian wasnât going to be starving herself because she was worried about her image. The teriyaki cheese burgers sounded so good though that he was already salivating at the thought.
Was paying for the meal a manly thing? Yeah, he could see it. In many countries it was socially the norm that the guy pays for the meals if heâs out with a woman, right? Manners and all that?
âYeah, that makes sense. Do you hang out with guys more than girls, then?â
He asked because she said something about feeling like she was âone of the boys,â and it made him curious about who she normally hung out with. Of course, there was absolutely nothing wrong in his eyes for a girl to have lots of guy friends (what, with most football club managers being girls?), but he did hear some people call that a flag or whatever. Just sounds like insecure dudes to him.
âWooww! It looks great! Smells great too!â
He was just salivating a little bit before, but now he was at risk of drooling buckets from the smell. His stomach was just as excited if the sound of his stomach grumbling loudly was any indication.
âLetâs go!â
He basically zooms over to the food truck looking for the end of the line to stand at the end. With his long legs, his strides were large and fast. Perks of being tall.
"Wow, one of my guesses was actually right? Jocks are truly something else..." Vivian exclaims, allowing pleasant surprise to seep through her voice. Honestly, she wonders just how strenuous practice was for Mizumachi to have enough room in his stomach for ten burgers, but regardless, it doesn't take long for a pensive hum to subsequently slip past her throat.
"As for me... probably 4 or 5? When it comes to McJunior burgers at McDonalds, though, I could eat 7... provided, of course, there aren't any fries to go alongside them! But the food truck I'm taking you has such filling teriyaki cheese burgers, chances are high you'll be full from eating 4 or 5," Vivian then proceeds to point out before letting out a little laugh.
"And yeah, I guess I kinda take after my mom in the sense I like ensuring my friends are fed! I also prefer being the one to pay, since... I dunno, it manages to make me feel manlier somehow, as if I'm one of the boys. I mean, usually, girls are never expected to pay for stuff whenever guys spend time with them, right? Hence why I get such a sense of empowerment from using what little money I have on my friends..."
Then again, to most, her logic may sound incredibly silly; after all, it was now the twentieth century, meaning to genderize the concept of footing the bill itself could come across as extremely outdated. Even so, Vivian always subconsciously had the impression it would feel less like a date or would make her seem that much more 'manlier' if she was the one paying, to the point where she could count on one hand how many times she had recently allowed anyone else to treat her... which, for better or worse, remains a bad habit of hers to this very day. Still, with how much she hated being perceived as a normie, she'd rather her wallet become lighter than be forced to confront the reality she was truly a girl at heart.
Either way, they'll soon reach Wakwak Burger, causing Vivian to come to an eventual halt ahead of him. "Ta-daaaah! What do you think?" she finally turns to flash a grin at Mizumachi just as the last customer strayed off from the front of the food truck.

Sheâd be correct in assessing him as a âhimbo,â considering that he didnât always think before he did anything⌠and even if he did think, it sometimes wasnât the most logically sound. It was like most of his IQ points went into sports and athleticism. He had this idea that she could pay for his burgers and heâd pay for hers, but realized the errors of his thought process when she spoke.
âAh! Uh⌠I meant to say Iâll treat next time!â
Nice save, Mizumachi. Totally believable and sound reasoning. Thatâll work, right? She can pay this time around and he can pay for the next time! That way he can return the favor because she also made some breakfast for him that other time. Hm?
âLetâs go! Say, do you like feeding people?â
He keeps pace with her as she walks them to the promised burger land- or rather, truck. If he had a nickle for each time sheâd fed him, heâd have two nickles. It wasnât a lot, but it was interesting how it happened twice already in the time theyâve known each other.
Selling Japanese burgers already would have him sold. Wakwak burger was going to have a new regular customer who was craving a reminiscent taste of home, no doubt. With how hungry he was feeling, somewhere close was definitely for the better, heâll get to eat sooner!
âAh⌠I could eat 5, yeah. Some days I could eat 10. Depends on how hungry I am. I eat a lot after practice.â
Which was to say that he didnât gorge himself on food before practice, because it would only slow him down if he pigged out on food. It was better for him to make up for the calories lost during practice by eating his fill on food afterwards.
âHow about you? 1? 2?â
Seemed like a safe conservative guess for how many burgers she could eat in a single sitting. It seemed pretty fun trying to guess how much she could eat.
Of course, Vivian waits for him to finish speaking first before blinking, rather dumbfounded. Ah... were her words somehow lost in translation, she wonders? No sooner does she realize this, she'll then subsequently grimace before letting out a weak chuckle, because when it came down to it, she had completely forgotten Mizumachi happened to be quite the himbo... for better or for worse. Why, if it weren't for the fact Vivian already knew English wasn't his first language, she may find herself growing flustered over having the compliment redirected back at her, but coming from his lips, it did not sound the very least bit sexy.
"Er... listen, when I say 'treat', I meant I'll be the one footing the entire bill; in other words, your burgers will be paid for by me," Vivian finally clarifies while resisting the urge to add 'Capiche?' at the end. Honestly, the whole entire time, she felt stupid for even having to explain it, but considering this was Mizumachi she's talking about... well, perhaps further simplification was necessary. Regardless, she'll soon turn once she figures out the perfect place to take him.
"Now, come! We have a food truck to go to," Vivian announces, and upon giving Mizumachi one final peek peek over her shoulder, makes a beckoning motion with her hand before setting off. Naturally, she planned on taking him to Wakwak Burger, a food truck in Vancouver that was known to sell Japanese burgers for the very affordable price of $2.85. Granted, after recently selling off her old Miku figurine on eBay, she could afford to take him someplace fancier, but seeing as though Wakwak Burger was way closer to where they were, Vivian concluded Mizumachi would appreciate her choosing a place within walking distance.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me! How many burgers can your black hole of a stomach manage, Kenny? 5? 10?" came her eventual query, because sure enough, it finally dawned on her she has no idea how much Mizumachi could actually eat.

Mizumachi laughs in tandem, as he was always the sort to laugh along with others, even if he didnât always know what they were laughing at. Just a team player who wants to join in on the fun!
âI guess so! Thinking uses up a lot of calories.â
Brain food, or whatever they call it, yeah? His body needed a lot of calories for his active lifestyle for one, but it also had to work extra hard in thinking a bunch for classes! There was that extra layer of difficulty because he had to attend classes being taught in another language.
âHmmm⌠what am I cravingâŚburgers? Iâm good with anything though!â
He thinks about it and feels his mouth watering. He canât help but crave his go-to convenient meal for whenever youâre super hungry. Burgers. A ton of burgers and fries! Itâs a technique he learned a while back, but dipping fries into a shake is a God-tier combination!
âI eat a lot you know? Since youâve been a good girl, that means itâll be my treat too! Haha!â
Being the simple sort he was, and some nuances not translating over quite as nicely, he didnât think much of it, being called a âgood boy.â As such, he didnât see an issue with returning the favor by calling her a âgood girlâ either. Well, even if he did understand, he wouldnât have been bothered by it anyways. Guys have perverted conversations with each other from time to time, so it wouldnât have upset him in any way- but he might have been surprised? That wouldâve been the extent of it.
As soon as Mizumachi admits he's hungry, she's quick to burst out laughing with her hand hovering over her mouth... not in a necessarily mean-spirited way, of course, but the way someone would laugh when a comedian managed to land a very brilliant joke. Honestly, it might not have been the funniest thing he could ever have said in this situation, but there was just something so amusing about how they talked so animatedly about food moments prior, only to just now mention grabbing a bite to eat, that made her cheeks naturally elevate upwards as mirth dances through her bespectacled vision.
"All that hypothesizing sure stoked your appetite, huh?" Vivian finally brings herself to remark once she finishes laughing and lowering her hand back down against her side. Granted, it was actually her fault for daring to first broach the topic of which protein they'll forsake in the first place, yet at the same time, she couldn't bring herself to express guilt over making Mizumachi suddenly want food. "But sure! Was there anything you've been particularly craving? Of course, since you've been a very good boy, it'll naturally be my treat!" Vivian proclaims.
Considering this was her, however, she didn't realize right off the bat calling him a 'good boy' had an unfortunately... sexually charged implication; still, she wasn't lying about at least appreciating the fact he had answered her question so earnestly. Why, most probably wouldn't indulge such a chatterbox like her, but Mizumachi didn't seem to mind how loquacious she was, which was definitely what sets him apart from the types she usually disliked engaging with.

Mizumachi was ever the energetic guy who was full of questions and the energy required to try to make new friends. Even in an unfamiliar place, heâll quickly acclimate to it and make loads of friends. Nothing could deter him! Well, it did get him in some trouble sometimes, because he didnât always think before acting⌠or speaking.
Thinking on it some more, he was starting to feel his head overheat. Does he need to start looking into every food that he likes and then see who originated it? It would be the classic Flan vs Pudding argument again. Or, what about noodles? They were probably first invented by the Chinese (they get the credit for so much stuff, yanno? Itâs probably right), so do they get the credit for every noodle dish?
âAh⌠itâs too much to think about. Iâll keep all the food. Not like the food police will send me to jail.â
If the answer is too difficult to figure out, either bullshit an answer, or âfuck it, moving on!â is the way to go. Those are his only two options.
âMnn⌠Iâll look for it next time when Iâm in Japan again!â
It was probably going to be when it was time for the holidays. He probably couldnât stay in the dorms unless he got special permission to do so, not that he would anyways⌠he probably had some questions to answer whenever he got back to Japan. Itâs easy to just point at Hiruma to explain how he found his way abroad, but hey! Heâs the one who goes with the flow! Might as well see what itâs like playing American Football in a country that wasnât Japan alongside other kinds of athletes. Broadening your horizons or whatever they say.
âTalkinâ about food is making me hungry. Wanna join me?â
It surely wasnât just his athlete metabolism that was constantly making him a ravenous eating machine. Itâs surely because he kept thinking about food that his stomach decided it was hungry.
Man, he sure spouted a lot of questions there, didn't he? Honestly, if it weren't for the fact she was actually paying attention and nobody else was talking, Vivian would have had a hard time, keeping track of everything he said. Still, upon taking his queries into further consideration, she'll manage a small, pensive frown as she pushes her glasses further up along the bridge of her nose.
"To be honest, I have no clue where 'Food It' originated... but yes, brownies were indeed American while Pizza itself is very much an Italian thing other countries imported and made their own," Vivian finally nods before lowering her hand back down and idly drumming her fingertips across the table. By that point, she finds herself shifting her gaze until it settled right over the smooth, oaken surface, for to this day, eye contact was something she had difficulty maintaining.
"I'm by no means a food historian, though, so the only dish first created from Western civilization that I'm aware of is poutine. Welp, technically speaking, I guess poutine is Canadian, not American, yet even so, that probably doesn't matter too much unless you are very particular about the specifics. Regardless, I'm pretty sure you can find poutine in Japan," Vivian goes on to point out.
Why, when visiting Tokyo last time, she recalls there being a Canadian establishment called Robson Fries that sold poutine. Granted, over there, it was better known as 'putchin' rather than poutine, yet at the same time, Mizumachi doesn't seem like the type to frequent bars, to the point where she would have no trouble believing he never once tried it before coming to Vancouver. Poutine, however, was definitely an acquired taste, meaning it might not necessarily be the first dish that comes to mind when one mulls over what their favourite food is.

Somehow, he felt a bit proud in knowing something that Vivian didnât know. Of course, he knew that she was wayyyyy smarter than him in general, but let him enjoy the small wins! Sharing the knowledge can be fun! It isnât often that someone gets to learn something from him. It was partially related to sports, but hey, it counts!
âA-ah?â
Luckily, he didnât take a sip of his hot cocoa or he wouldâve choked on it- lover? If Shin was to love anyone, it would have to be exercisingâŚ. Or American football. Mhm, thatâs how it is for a lot of them, now that he thinks about it. Kurita especially.
âShin Seijuro is his name. Heâs really good at American football! Heâs a linebacker. Really fast and strong.â
Getting tackled by him was like getting railed in the side by a train. He was truly an athlete you could respect for his skills. He practically lived and breathed around American Football, doing whatever he could to be the best athlete he could possibly be.
âThe guy really trains hard to be the best he can be. Always working out, makes sure to only eat healthy foods and all that. Probably the healthiest guy I know.â
He sets the cup down so he could get started on the waffle, picking it up by hand and starts taking big bites. A skill you learn as an athlete who had to compete with others- eat fast and take big bites. If you donât, everyone else will eat all the food before you do. No gains if you canât get the grains (of rice)!
âOhhh thatâs cool! Good, cuz I like to talk a lot! Just tell me if Iâm ever too much.â
He grins, taking another big bite out of his waffle. He probably only needed one more bite at this rate. He didnât think Vivian would have much trouble in telling him if he went too far considering she wasnât shy in telling him to put her down earlier. Haha, his bad, his bad!
Vivian shakes her head, indicating that she in fact didn't know. "Nope! I was today years old when I first learned dark chocolate is apparently something athletes are encouraged to consume everyday. It's something I'll keep in mind, though. Heck, maybe I'll even try to find a hot chocolate mix with dark chocolate the next time I go shopping for beans," she muses aloud. Why, now that Vivian thinks about it, she's pretty sure the hot chocolate she made for him was made with less bitter cacao; either way, it's definitely useful knowledge to keep tucked away somewhere in her mind.
"Also, who is this 'Shin' you even speak of? A friend? Cousin? Lover? The man who ate all your plants?" she then asks, allowing curiosity to seep through her tone as she tilts her head towards one side. Of course, she might have been a bit too nosy by probing him about this, but unless she sensed the other person's discomfort, Vivian doesn't tend to shy away from asking questions.
Still, Mizumachi doesn't seem as if he was particularly taken; after all, he did give her a big bear hug earlier, which was unusual behaviour for someone who wasn't single. Then again, maybe he was unusually affectionate towards friends, family, and significant others alike... but whatever the case, she doesn't dwell long on the matter upon realizing there was something else she forgot to say, causing her to momentarily straighten her posture.
"Oh, and to answer your previous question... it's actually the opposite, 'cause interestingly enough, I do regain spoons by talking," Vivian admits. Not all autistic people were the same, though, and that was only the case for her because she happens to be an extrovert.

Brownies and cheesecake all in one sounded delicious! He did like both, so putting them both together seemed like a no-brainer, and yet, heâs never heard of it before until now.
âIs it your friendâs recipe? Sounds like a genius!â
He was curious about how they tasted, but for now, he had important matters to considerâwhat entire category of food is he willing to say goodbye to for the rest of his life (in a totally made up situation, of course). Considering the pasta dishes were made to be similar to Italian dishes, heâd probably have to say goodbye to them if he wanted to be fair.
âIf desserts count, does that change your answer? I could never say goodbye to Anpan, or melonpan. Mochi too. Are brownies American?â
So many foods and desserts originate from somewhere else but are very popular in other nations, just like how crepes were invented⌠uh⌠somewhere, but youâll see crepe stands shops everywhere. When he thought of desserts, he thought of France or Italy primarily. They usually had the most sweets stuff. If sweets were to be added to the equation, it was looking more like heâd have to give up American food for the rest of his life.
But then againâŚ
âDoes America have food it invented? Or is the food their famous for from other countries? Pizza is Italian, right?â
Maybe he should switch out America for another country? Maybe... he messed up.
Oh, he never tried brownies with cream cheese filling before? By that point, Vivian would pull out her phone to type in 'brownies cream cheese filling' through her search engine, only to realize most contained recipes for brownies with cream cheese frosting; in other words, while it certainly was a thing, the most popular way to apparently utilize cream cheese was to put it on top of the brownie... not inside it, like what Hayate did when he had baked. Either way, she'll soon stash away her her phone before clasping both hands against her cheeks.
"Trust me, it's extremely delicious! Honestly, if I had to describe the experience, it's like brownies and cheesecake all combined in one... which happens to synchronize very well together, you'd end up getting an explosion of decadent tartness alongside this smooth, creamy texture that envelops your tongue with rich, velvety sweetness," Vivian gushes. By this point, she was practically salivating, to the point where it's rather clear she's already envisioning cream cheese brownies inside her own head.
The moment Mizumachi started mulling over Italian or American food, however, she's quick to drop her hands to her sides and slurp up her drool. "Welp, it's certainly not authentic Italian cuisine, that's for sure; in fact, I reckon it's more so bastardized Italian food, similarly to how California rolls would be considered bastardized sushi, which was originally made for Western consumption before it became reverse imported to Japan. ...Then again, a Japanese chef is often credited for inventing California rolls to begin with; therefore, it depends on how gatekeep-y you wanna be," Vivian goes on to shrug. "In my opinion, though, desserts definitely count! Heck, you could get full, just eating cake."
