finally took Vagabond and can immediately tell how different it is from all other anime mangas. It may be a fictitious retelling of Miyamoto Mushasi's life, but it really has an impact in life. the artwork is just so good and so is the story. it doesn't just tell a tale of adventure but of great strength and philosophy. I haven't read something like this in a while.

Miyamoto Musashi, born Shinmen Takezō, also known as Miyamoto Bennosuke and by his Buddhist name, Niten Dōraku, was a Japanese swordsman, strategist, artist.

Born: 1584, Harima Province

Died: 13 June 1645 (age 61 years), Higo Province

Legendary Samurai: Miyamoto Musashi (1584–1645) was a renowned Japanese swordsman, philosopher, and strategist, undefeated in his 61 duels, making him one of history's most famous samurai.

The Book of Five Rings: He authored Go Rin no Sho (The Book of Five Rings), a treatise on strategy, tactics, and philosophy still widely read in martial arts and business leadership today.

Dual-Sword Technique: Musashi developed the Niten Ichi-ryū style, which emphasizes using two swords simultaneously, a revolutionary approach in samurai combat.

Art and Calligraphy: Later in life, Musashi turned to art, calligraphy, and Zen Buddhism, producing ink paintings and philosophical musings reflecting his deep introspection.

Solitary Warrior: Unlike most samurai, Musashi often travelled alone, preferring the life of a ronin (masterless samurai), which allowed him to refine his skills and philosophy independently.

Something that is kind of interesting is that in both the 2003 & 2012 cartoons a member of the Foot Clan kind of tried to manipulate Leo using a similar method

Karai: The greatest swordsman in the history of Japan, it’s ancient, it’s priceless and it’s yours 

In both the 2003 & 2012 cartoons Shredder & Karai try to manipulate Leo using a sword

In Rise Leo can make his own swords with his Ninpo & originally just took his mystic odachi from Draxum so I’m not sure if he could be manipulated in a similar way as his 2003 & 2012 counterparts but it would be kind of interesting if Rise had been able to continue if some similar had happened to Leo in Rise.
