Bechloe Week Day 1: Reunion
Words: 1104
Notes: Well I tried to start Bechloe week with something flirty and fun but naturally I can't help myself and it ended up getting a bit deeper than that. I also think this is a bit of a stretch for a "reunion" prompt...
I'm probably going to be doing 3 of the prompts for this week, but maybe more if I can get time to write them

“Bec?” Chloe said, wrapping on the door of Beca’s office, one hand absentmindedly rubbing against her stomach. “This is your 30-minute warning, okay? The Bellas are going to be here in an hour.”
“So shouldn’t I get a 60-minute warning?” Beca replied. “They’ll be late anyway.”
“They won’t be late, Aubrey is in charge,” Chloe said, pushing the door open and stepping into her wife’s office. “And you need a 30-minute warning because you’re not greeting our friends - who we haven’t seen in over a year - in your office sweatpants.”
Beca frowned and spun around in her chair. “You love my office sweatpants.”
Chloe cocked her head. “Is that something you imagined I said?”
“I guess I just assumed, since every time I wear them you always want to grab my butt.”
“I think that’s more about your butt than the sweatpants, babe,” Chloe said. “But whether I love the sweats or not, you still need to change.”
“Fine,” Beca said, taking Chloe’s hands and tugging her into her lap. “Well, I don’t need to do any more work, so what should we do with our extra 30 minutes?”
Chloe checked her watch. “It’s more like 27 minutes now.”
“27 minutes? That doesn’t really seem like enough time,” Beca said.
“Well, we could have a little longer if we saved time by showering together,” Chloe said.
“Mrs Mitchell-Beale, I like the way you think.”
Chloe climbed off Beca’s lap and tugged her out of the chair.
“Make the most of this,” Chloe said, pulling her towards the bathroom. “Once the Bellas get here we have to behave for a full week.”
Beca groaned. “Remind me why we have that rule in place again? It seems cruel and unnecessary. It’s not like they don’t know we’re married. They were there. They even saw us kiss.”
“And they still haven’t forgiven us for that time Emily walked in on us in the laundry room,” Chloe said. “Poor girl nearly went blind.”
“In our defence, she didn’t knock first,” Beca replied.
“In her defence, who knocks on the door of a laundry room before they enter?”
“Okay,” Beca said, “fair point.”
They made short work of stripping out of their clothes and were soon stepping into the shower together. As it so often did, Beca’s hand found its way to Chloe’s stomach.
“You’re still sure you want to tell them?” Beca asked.
“Yes,” Chloe said. “When is the next time we will all be together again after this? I want to tell them in person.”
“I know,” Beca said. “I do too.”
“Then why does your face look like that?”
“Genetics?”
“Smart-ass,” Chloe said, rolling her eyes. She put a finger under Beca’s chin and tilted her head up so she would look at her, and not her bump. “Why do you look worried? This is good news.”
“It’s the best news,” Beca said. “It’s just… as soon as we tell them, it stops being our little secret. It… I can’t explain it.”
“You’re scared we’re jinxing it,” Chloe said. Beca’s eyes dropped to Chloe’s stomach again, and Chloe knew she was right. “This isn’t like last time.”
“I know that,” Beca said. “Logically, I know that.”
Chloe pressed a kiss on Beca’s cheek and then pulled her into her arms, and they stayed like that for a little while. The hot water cascaded on and around them, steam rising up to obscure the rest of their bathroom.
Feeling hidden away and protected, Beca spoke again. “Announcing him to our friends, celebrating him, it feels like we’re drawing attention to him. Like we’re asking for something bad to happen. The more excited I get to meet him, the more convinced I am that something is going to take him away.”
“Baby,” Chloe said, softly, holding Beca tighter.
“I know I’m being stupid-”
“-You aren’t being stupid,” Chloe said, cutting her off.
“I know it isn’t logical,” Beca said as if there’d been no interruption. “But then the more I try to convince myself that it isn’t going to happen, the more I feel like it will. If you tell yourself over and over again that everything’s fine, that everything will be fine, then the more likely it is that the universe will want to screw you over.”
Beca’s thoughts were spiralling now, she was working herself into a panic. She took a slightly shuddering breath and opened her mouth, as if to continue before something tapped her on the palm of her hand.
She froze.
During their hug, her hand reached Chloe’s stomach again. One hand was pressed against Chloe’s back, the other resting protectively on the side of her stomach.
She had felt her son kick for the first time.
They hadn’t made it this far last time.
Beca let out a shocked laugh and tears sprang to her eyes before quickly joining the shower water spilling down her cheeks.
“He can hear you,” Chloe said, smiling as tears filled her eyes too. “He’s letting you know that he’s okay.”
Beca laughed again and bent down to press a kiss against Chloe’s stomach.
“Hi buddy,” Beca said. “I can’t wait to meet you.”
“We don’t have to tell the Bellas,” Chloe said. “I can wear my big sweaters.”
“In L.A. in July?” Beca said, straightening back up, an eyebrow raised.
“I’m always cold, they’ll believe it,” Chloe said.
“We should tell them,” Beca said. “They’re our family.”
Chloe smiled. “Good, because they would never have believed the sweater thing.”
Beca laughed and kissed her wife again. “I’m sorry I dumped all that on you. I didn’t mean to, it just came out.”
“Don’t apologise,” Chloe said. “Have you talked to your therapist about it?”
“Yeah, we’re working on it,” Beca said. “I know it’s just my anxiety working overtime. My dumb brain doesn’t like it when I’m happy, apparently.”
“Not dumb,” Chloe corrected. “Just… misguided? It thinks it’s protecting you. It thinks it’s keeping you safe.”
“Po-tay-to, po-tah-to,” Beca said. “I’m sorry I ruined the mood. I was planning on doing my best sex moves and everything.”
“I suppose when everyone’s safe in bed tonight, we could try again,” Chloe said, with a hint of a smirk. “Our door does lock, after all.”
“Do you think you can be quiet enough for that?” Beca asked, grinning as she pulled Chloe in for a kiss.
Chloe pulled away. “We don’t have time right now. I don’t even know what time it is, we’ve been in here for-”
Ding-dong!
“Crap,” Chloe said.
“So greeting them soaking wet and naked is better than my work sweats, how exactly?”

My #1 post of 2022
Happy Valentine's Day, Nerds ❤️
Will You Be My Valentine?
“Babe” Chloe whispered to a sleeping Beca
“Hmmm” Beca grunted, not bothering to turn and face the redhead.
“Will you be my Valentine?” She asked in a solemn tone.
“Chlo, a) it's ...” she checked her phone “ 2 in the morning and b) I'm literally your girlfriend. Go to sleep” Beca sighed.
“You didn't answer my question, though,” Chloe said lightly.
“If I say yes, will you let me sleep?” Beca grumbled, earning a soft chuckle from Chloe.
“Sure, grumpy cat, I will.”
“In that case, yes, Chloe, I would love to be your Valentine's,” Beca said, rolling her eyes at Chloe's antics.
“Hmmm, that won't work, again, but less sarcasm this time,” Chloe suggested.
“Seriously, now?”
“Yeap.”
“Let me ask you a question first,” Beca said instead.
“Sure, baby, what's up?”
“Why are we doing this?” Beca asked, confused.
“Because I want you to be my Valentine.”
“Isn't this a given, though, babe? Since we're in a relationship?”
“Becs, being in a relationship doesn't always mean you are in love. And celebrating Valentine's isn't only for couples either. It's about people who are in love. So, with you being my Valentine, I wanna show you how completely and utterly in love I'm with you.” Chloe replied, earnestly.
“Damn you, Beale.” Beca sniffed.
“So...?”
“Of course, I'll be your Valentine, you weirdo,” Beca replied. She chuckled when she saw Chloe giving a victorious fist bump in the air.

Bechloe Week 2021 - Day 6
Neighbors AU
"Hold the elevator," a voice called out.
Beca recognized the voice and gave a small smile as she stuck her hand against the elevator door to keep it from closing.
"Thanks," the owner of the voice said without looking at Beca. She was on the phone and continued her conversation, ignoring Beca as she did so.
"Please, Brey! You have to do it."
Beca stood back watching her neighbor, Chloe, as the elevator began moving. Beca held her phone up and pretended to scroll through it as she eavesdropped on the redhead's call.
"It's just for one week," Chloe said into the phone.
Beca chanced a quick glance at her elevator riding companion and noticed she was fumbling with folders and files as she held her phone between her shoulder and her ear.
Chloe Beale, age about 26 Beca would guess, moved in next door to Beca about six months ago. Beca thinks Chloe is hot with her red hair, cerulean blue eyes, and a killer body. It was obvious the woman took care of herself.
Beca had introduced herself shortly after Chloe moved in, but Chloe hasn't really shown any interest in anything other than the usual courtesy greeting in the hallway or elevator.
Beca has noticed a lot of people leaving Chloe's apartment over the last six months; usually early in the morning, and none more than once that Beca can recall. Beca was done with one-night stands and meaningless hookups and was looking for something long-lasting and permanent. She thought about asking Chloe out but didn't want to be another one-and-done to Chloe.
"But, everything will be paid for," Chloe said, causing Beca to snap out of her Chloe-induced thoughts.
The elevator reached their floor and Beca waited for Chloe to exit before she did. She smiled as she watched Chloe walk away. I mean, why wouldn't she? Chloe looked just as good walking away as she did coming toward you, and Beca did not mind the view at all.
"I'll even pay for your time if you go," Beca heard Chloe say. Beca shook her head and reached into her bag to pull out her keys. Chloe laughed as she said, "No, not like a hooker. I wouldn't expect sex from you."
Beca gave Chloe a nod as she walked past her to get to her apartment. As Beca stepped over the threshold of her apartment, she looked back and noticed some papers on the floor outside Chloe's already closed door. Beca figured the redhead hadn't noticed them fall. Beca dropped her bag inside her apartment before closing her door and walking over to Chloe's door. She squatted down to pick up the papers.
Once Beca gathered all the papers, she stood and sorted the pages a bit so they were in a neat bundle in her hand. She glanced down at them and they looked like test papers.
"Chloe's a teacher?" Beca mumbled, furrowing her brow.
The apartments they live in cost quite a bit and Beca is surprised. If Chloe is a teacher, how can she afford this place?
Beca shrugged her shoulders and lightly knocked on the door. After a moment, a barefoot Chloe answered.
"Oh," Chloe said, surprised to see Beca standing there. "Um, Beca, right?"
"Yeah. You, um, you dropped these," Beca said as she handed the papers to Chloe.
"Oh, thank you," Chloe said as she took the papers. "That was nice of you."
"Just being neighborly," Beca said with a smile. "Have a good evening."
Beca turned to walk back to her apartment when Chloe stopped her. "Wait!"
Beca turned back and looked at Chloe with a raised eyebrow.
"Would you like to come in for a drink?" Chloe asked.
"Um," Beca said.
"I wanted to apologize," Chloe said, causing Beca's eyebrows to raise in surprise. "I know I haven't been very neighborly and I'm sorry about that."
"Okay, sure," Beca said. "A drink would be nice."
Chloe moved aside to allow Beca to enter. Beca looked around and noticed that Chloe's layout was much the same as hers.
"Come to the kitchen," Chloe said. "Is beer okay?."
"Beer's fine," Beca said and followed Chloe.
"Have a seat," Chloe told Beca, indicating the stools at the counter.
Beca sat and watched as Chloe opened the refrigerator and pulled out two beers. She walked over and sat at the counter across from Beca; she handed Beca a beer.
"I do want to apologize for being so standoffish," Chloe said.
"Um, it's okay," Beca said. "Really."
"No, it's not," Chloe said. "I moved here to get away from my mother. Sad I know, but it's the truth. It gets kind of lonely and you seem like someone I could be friends with, and it would be nice to have at least one friend here."
Beca thought about making a comment about the many "friends" she'd seen leaving Chloe's apartment but thought better of it.
"Do you want to talk about why you had to get away from your mother?" Beca asked as she sipped her beer. "I mean, I get it. I moved mostly to be as far away from my dad as I could. It might make you feel better to talk about it."
"That's a story for another time," Chloe said with a laugh. She took a drink of her beer and looked at Beca. "So, what do you do?"
"I, um, I'm a songwriter and music producer," Beca said.
"That sounds-" Chloe stopped and took a good look at Beca. Her eyes widened and she squealed. "O-M-acaG! You're Beca Mitchell! I've lived next door to you for six months and can't believe I didn't recognize you. I love your music. And that song you wrote with P!nk is one of my favorites."
"Um, thanks," Beca said. "And, what the hell is O-M-acaG?"
Chloe let out a loud laugh. "Sorry. I was in an acapella group in college and Aubrey, my best friend, used to put aca in front of everything. I would tease her about it and then find myself doing it as well."
"Wow," Beca said. "Of all the things I could have imagined, you being in an acapella group was not even a consideration. I mean, it's kind of lame."
"It is not lame," Chloe said, her jaw dropping. "We were the tits and went to the ICCAs our Junior Year."
"What are the ICCAs?"
"It's the National Championships for Collegiate a cappella," Chloe said.
"Ah," Beca said. "So, you went. But, did you win?"
"No, but that doesn't make it lame," Chloe said, taking a sip of her beer and sitting it on the counter. "Let me show you something."
Chloe stood and grabbed her laptop from her desk, returning to sit exceedingly close to Beca at the counter.
"Well, hello," Beca said with a grin, eyeing how close to her Chloe was sitting.
Chloe smirked and opened her laptop. She logged in and clicked on a few things.
"This is our first performance Senior Year," Chloe said before hitting play.
Beca looked toward the computer screen and grimaced slightly. She glanced at Chloe and said, "Did you just get out of flight attendant's school?"
"Hush," Chloe said with a laugh. "Those were our costumes."
"You mean you wore them on purpose?" Beca asked, looking at Chloe wide-eyed.
"It was tradition to wear them," Chloe said with a shrug. "Plus, Aubrey liked them and she was the Captain, so that was that."
Beca nodded her head and listened to the performance. When it was done, Chloe hit pause and looked at Beca.
"It was, um, pretty good," Beca said. "But, your song choice was a bit dated don't you think?"
"I agree with you," Chloe said. "But Aubrey had something to prove so she used the same set we had used the year before."
"Why?" Beca asked, truly curious why they didn't go for something more modern and different.
"Here, I'll show you why," Chloe said and clicked on another video. "This is our ICCAs performance Junior Year."
Chloe hit play and Beca watched.
"Holy shit!" Beca cried out when Aubrey started vomiting. "Oh, my God, that's disgusting."
Chloe stopped the video and looked at Beca. She couldn't help the laugh that came out upon seeing Beca's shocked face.
"How did the rest of your Senior Year go?" Beca asked, closing the laptop so she didn't have to stare at the frozen picture of Aubrey vomiting. It was just gross.
"We made it to Regionals but that was it," Chloe said. "Aubrey was pushing us to the point no one wanted to be a Barden Bella. We were Seniors but the other girls were Freshmen. No one wanted to continue in the group so they disbanded when we graduated."
"That's too bad," Beca said. "You had some really good voices. Especially yours. With the right set, you girls could have won."
"How do you know which voice was mine?" Chloe asked.
"It's my job to know these things," Beca said. "I have to be able to pick out each voice in a group and isolate it. That way, if someone is off-key or hits the wrong note, I know immediately who it is."
"Wow," Chloe said.
Beca went to speak but stopped when her phone pinged indicating a new text had come in. She pulled out her phone and checked the message.
"Oh, shoot," Beca said. "I'm sorry, but I have to go. I'm supposed to meet up with a few friends."
"Oh, that's fine," Chloe said. "I enjoyed talking with you and maybe we can do this again sometime. Or, maybe you'll let me take you out to dinner and we can talk some more."
"I enjoyed talking to you, too," Beca said as she started walking to the door. "As for dinner, can I get back to you on that?"
"Sure," Chloe said as she walked with Beca and held the door for her. Chloe watched as Beca went to her apartment.
"Don't forget to let me know about that dinner date," Chloe said.
"I won't forget," Beca said, giving Chloe a little wave before entering her apartment.
~ BeChloe Week 2021 - Day 6 ~
Later that night, Beca was sitting in her favorite bar with her friends Jessica and Emily. She had told them about finally talking to Chloe and how Chloe had asked her out to dinner.
"So, are you going to go out with her?" Jessica asked.
"I, um, I don't know," Beca said. "I mean, I want to, but all I can think about is all the one-nighters I've seen leaving her apartment. I've done the one-and-done thing. I'm looking for someone who wants to be in a relationship."
"I say go for it," Emily said. "Maybe she'll like you enough to get on the same page as you. I mean look at Stacie; she slept with whoever she wanted and even had a baby out of wedlock. Along comes Jesse and now she's happily married with another kid on the way."
"I think those two are the exception, not the rule," Beca said.
"I'm with Emily," Jessica said. "I think you should go for it. Worst case scenario, you get laid by a gorgeous redhead. Best case, she's looking for a real relationship, too, and you two end up together."
"Things in my life are never that simple," Beca said. "I could really fall for this girl. And, quite honestly, I think I already have. If I feel like this now, one date is just going to make me want to make it something more and not just a one-time thing, so I'm going to tell her no. I think that's best."
"I disagree," Emily said. "But, it's your life. You do you."
~ BeChloe Week 2021 - Day 6 ~
Beca had to work late every night the following week and was surprised to realize that she hadn't seen any one-nighters leaving Chloe's apartment during the week.
It was Friday night, and Beca had Emily, Jessica, and Stacie over for a girl's night. They were sitting around enjoying a glass of wine when there was a knock on the door. Beca excused herself and went to answer the door. She was a bit surprised to see Chloe standing there.
"Oh, um, hey," Beca said, looking back over her shoulder.
"Hey," Chloe said, shifting from one foot to the other. "Do you have a minute? I'd like to talk to you."
"Um," Beca stammered just as the door was pulled fully open by Stacie.
"Let me guess," Stacie said, looking Chloe up and down. "Gorgeous redhead? Rockin' bod? Blue eyes you could get lost in for eternity? You must be Chloe."
"Neighbor Chloe?" Jessica asked, rushing over to the door to get a look at Beca's infamous redheaded neighbor.
"I want to meet her, too," Emily said, following Jessica.
"Do you guys mind?" Beca asked, giving them her best death glare.
Chloe stood there smiling. "You've been talking about me, huh?"
"Maybe a little," Beca said, blushing.
"A little?" Stacie snorted. "How about every waking moment. You should come in and join us."
"I don't want to intrude," Chloe said.
"You're not intruding," Jessica said, turning to look at Beca. "Tell her, Beca."
Beca sighed and looked at Chloe. "It's okay. You're not intruding. Besides, I owe you a drink."
"Thank you," Chloe said as she entered the apartment. "You also owe me an answer to that dinner date I asked you for."
"Date?!" Stacie squealed. "You and Beca are dating? Why am I the last to know this?"
"Not dating, Stacie," Beca said, glaring at Stacie.
"That's only because she hasn't said yes yet," Emily said.
"Don't worry," Jessica said. "She will."
"She'd better," Stacie said.
"She's right here," Beca said.
"So, does that mean you'll go out with me?" Chloe asked.
"Can we talk out in the hall?" Beca asked.
"Sure," Chloe said and turned to walk out the door.
Beca followed Chloe out and turned back to look at her friends who were all moving to follow them.
"Stay!"
"Rude!" Stacie said as Beca closed the door behind her.
"Sorry about them," Beca said as she stood facing Chloe. "Look, about dinner. Thank you for the invitation but, I'm, uh, I'm going to have to decline."
"May I ask why?" Chloe said. "I thought we had a connection."
"We did, do," Beca said. "Honestly, I like you, Chloe, but I'm not looking for a one-night stand or a hookup. I'm done with that sort of thing."
"And?"
"And, I don't want to be just another notch on your bedpost," Beca said. "I'm not that girl." Beca sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I know we just met but I would want something more with you."
"What if I said I wanted something more with you, too?" Choe asked, moving a step closer to Beca.
"Are you saying that?"
Chloe put her hands on Beca's hips and pulled her flush to her. Beca let out a small gasp when their bodies clashed together.
"What I'm saying is. ."
The rest of Chloe's words were lost when her lips crashed against Beca's. Beca whimpered and put her arms around Chloe's neck. They battled for dominance, only jumping apart when Beca's apartment door flew open.
"I told you they were kissing," Stacie said with a smug smile.
"Go away," Beca said, making a shooing motion with her hands.
Beca pulled Chloe back to her and reclaimed Chloe's lips. If it were possible, Chloe pulled Beca even closer.
Emily blushed and stepped around them, hurrying down the hall. Stacie stood there watching as Beca and Chloe continued to kiss. Jessica grabbed Stacie by the arm and pulled her away and down the hall.
"I want all the details tomorrow, Mitchell," Stacie called back over her shoulder as Jessica maintained her hold on Stacie's arm to keep her moving.
Chloe finally pulled back from the kiss.
"Wow," Chloe said, touching her forehead to Beca's.
"Wow, indeed," Beca said. She cleared her throat. "Would you like to come in? I think I'd like to be that girl tonight."
Chloe's smile widened as Beca took her hand and led her into her apartment, slamming the door behind them.

The best part about turning eighteen, if you were to ask Mackenzie Grady, is that her parents could no longer control her. And if she wanted to take a gap year to live on Isla Nublar with her brother Owen, well, she would. Summer was incredible; she got to run some tours, hang out at the different exhibits whenever she wanted, even see the labs. Fall was even better; she had finally shed the name Mackenzie, was known almost exclusively as “Grady” or “Baby Grady”, and she even got to help out with the exhibits. So when winter rolled around, and Claire Dearing asked her to “hang out with” her nephews while they visited, she was beyond excited–until her home turned into a war zone and she was fighting for her life against the animals she’d grown to love.

Reese Masrani had been through a lot more before her eighteenth birthday than most people went through in their entire lives. But where three kidnappings before her eighteenth birthday had made her paranoid, it was her never ending boredom that turned her into a part-time survivalist.
But Christmas was supposed to be a break from all of it. All she had to worry about were her monthly rounds of employee meetings, organizing the staff holiday party, and spending an uninterrupted week with her dad. Still, when Claire Dearing asks her to show her nephews around the island, she takes it in stride. But when a dinosaur breaks out of her enclosure and turns the entire island into a war zone, well, that might throw a wrench in her holiday plans.

A Thin Line
spencer reid x reader
Best years part 4 | part three | part two | part one
summary: the team takes on a case in California involving home invasions. the reader has a surprise for her when they get back.
warnings: normal criminal minds things, mentions of racism and sexism (are those warnings idk)
A/N: based on season 7 episode 15; this ones cute ngl
“I think you should tell Spencer,” Penelope said turning in her swivel chair to Y/N who was sitting behind her.
“Tell him what, ‘Hey Spence, guess what, this girl who tormented me through my college life has come back to haunt me.’ Yeah, okay,” she said, shaking her head. She took a sip of the coffee in her mug, “And besides, there’s nothing really to tell him, she could just be trying to scare me, she loves to play mind games.”
“Well, you should at least tell him what’s going on, you’ve received two more notes from her since the night that you called me, and it’s been almost a month,” Y/N sighed knowing that Penelope was right. “And you guys have been going out for that long now, so I’m sure he’ll understand if you don’t want to tell him all about your past right away.”
“You’re right,” Y/N said, her finger trailing along the rim of her mug as she thought about when she should tell him.
“And you should also tell Hotch.”
“Tell Hotch? Why would I need to tell him?” Y/N asked looking up at Penelope.
“I think it would just be smart, you know in case something happens,” Penelope responded with a small sigh, remembering back to the whole Emily situation and what happened when she didn’t tell them.
“I’ll tell him if I get another note.”
“Okay, good,” Penelope said, then she smiled and began to get really excited. “So, you have to tell me, how have you and the good doctor been doing?”
Y/N giggled as she watched her friend get excited about her relationship. “It’s been going good, we’ve gotten to know each other a lot more on our dates, the other night we went to this museum, and at first I didn’t think that would be a cool place to go on a date, but then it turned out really romantic,” Y/n smiled as she thought back to the night of the date. Spencer’s hand grasping her’s as they roamed the halls of the museum. Her eyes trained on him as he spoke about the parchments in a case or as he explained in depth about the artifact on the wall.
“Oh my gosh, that’s so adorable!” Penelope exclaimed, clapping her hands together excitedly. “Have you two kissed yet?”
“No, we haven’t, but I’m not rushing this, I don’t want to rush it.”
“Oh my- that is so mature, look at you, you're all grown up,” Penelope said, taking Y/N’s face in her hands squeezing her cheeks together. “I remember when you first joined the team, your 26-year-old self all antsy and ready to catch some serial killers. Now, look at you! 27 and so grown up I-”
“I’m 28 actually,” Y/N corrected Penelope with a laugh.
“Did we miss your birthday?” Penelope asked with a guilt written face.
“Yeah, but don’t worry about it, birthdays are just days,” Y/N said trying to reassure her friend.
“Don’t worry about it? You and Spencer both, he did the same thing awhile back on his birthday,” Penelope said referring back to when Spencer had turned 30. “And they’re not ‘just days’, it’s the day that you were born, they are wonderful days! We need to do something for it, when was it?”
Y/N just shook her head with a laugh before standing, “It was last week, but we really don’t have to do anything.” She tried to explain to the bubbly woman in the chair.
“No, we do, we are going to have dinner together as a family, and you are going to like it,” she stopped her rant when she saw her case alert go off and a text from Hotch. “Right when you get back from this case.”
--------
Y/N walked into the round table room smiling at her co-workers then making eye contact with Spencer. “Hi,” she said with school-girl glee as she took a seat next to him.
“Hi,” he said back, the light blush on his face growing.
“Y/N and Spencer, sittin’ in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-,” JJ began to sing the schoolyard rhyme.
“Shut up,” Y/N said giggling looking at the blonde who just laughed at her.
“Alright let’s get started,” Hotch said, taking his seat Derek and Emily following closely behind him.
“San Bernardino, California,” Penelope began as everyone opened up their tablets with the case file. “Two home invasions in less than a week, only a block apart, exact same M.O… Both houses were burgled, power and phone lines cut, and they broke in through a back window.”
“In each case, the entire family was shot and killed?” Spencer asked, eyebrows raised at the thought.
“Yes, that is right. I present to you the Mitchells and the Lewis family,” Penelope grabbed her remote from beside her, pulling the pictures of the family up on the screen.
“They took out the power and phone so what, they could feel isolated?” Y/N asked.
“The alarm system wouldn’t work and they couldn’t call for help,” Rossi explained the probable reasoning for why the power was cut.
“Most modern alarm systems have a backup generator and a cell phone connection to the security company,” Spencer said wondering why this didn’t happen in this scenario.
“Yeah, but the Mitchells had an older system, and the Lewis’ were behind on their account, so it was inactive,” Penelope explained.
“An assailant was killed in each case?” JJ asked, looking at Penelope next to her.
“Affirmative, but the sheriff hasn’t I.D.’d them yet.”
“So both families were armed, and fought back and shot one of their attackers,” Emily said looking around the table.
“Is that a coincidence or a connection?” Derek asked looking over to Emily.
“What concerns me is the frequency of the kills,” Hotch said looking up from his tablet.
“Only four days apart,” Y/N said looking at the dates.
“Alright, it’s a long flight, we better get going, wheels up in 30.” Everyone stood up and headed out of the room to grab their go-bags.
-------------
“Brian Mitchell was an avid hunter and Matt Lewis was an Iraq war vet, so it doesn’t surprise me that they both owned guns,” Y/N said looking up from her tablet.
“Last year, southern California’s inland empire ranked fourth in the nation in foreclosure rates. Typically, as the economy falls, the crime rates will rise,” Spencer said.
“Times are tough, desperate people do desperate things,” Rossi said, agreeing with Spencer’s statement.
“Greetings all,” Penelope said as she appeared on the screen. “Your herald bears tidings.”
“What you got, Mama?” Derek asked as he turned to the screen.
“The sheriff I.D.’d both the dead home invaders,” Penelope began to type on her computer pulling up some of the files. “First up is Alex Collison, twenty. Made an impressive list of bad life decisions before he croaked, included but not limited to...possession, a couple of drug charges, a card-carrying member of the Verdugo heights boys.”
“They’re gang members,” JJ realized as she listened to what Penelope was saying.
“Oh, he was, but slow your roll, home-girl,” Penelope said before she told of the next victim. “Because next up is Ronald Underwood, 19. Zero records, unless you want to count some volunteer work. Straight-A student, putting himself through school.”
“Not exactly the home invasion type,” Emily said.
“Both from a poor area of town, grew up a mile apart,” Hotch said while he looked down at the tablet in his hands.
“Hard to actually tell from the crime scene photos of how many assailants there actually were,” Y/N said as she swiped through the photos.
“Well, if it was gang-related, there could be a lot of them,” Emily said looking at Y/N.
“The homes that got invaded were on the other side of town, a predominantly white area full of middle-class families,” JJ explained the demographics.
“Hey, guys,” Penelope said, bringing the attention to her. “The M.E. report just came in, both of them had high levels of oxycodone in their system.”
“That’s strange. Violent crimes like these are normally associated with stimulant drugs,” Spencer said puzzled as to why that was.
“Like meth?” Y/N asked turning her head to look at Spencer next to her.
“Yeah, like meth.”
“Underwood’s as straight as an arrow,” Derek began. “Collison’s a garden-variety gang-banger. I grew up with knuckleheads like that, high-risk break-ins, and oxy, that’s not their M.O.”
“Regardless, we need to get ahead of it. The press has got a community on the verge of panic,” Hotch explained. “JJ and I will coordinate with the sheriff’s office, I want the rest of you at the crime scene.”
------------
Y/N walked into the home of the Lewis’, inspecting all the blood on the walls. It almost felt like she could hear them scream for help and she so desperately wanted to go back in time and save them from all this. The shattered family photos and the torn-up house just made her feel so unsettled.
Y/N turned as she had finished with the room she was in and headed out meeting Emily in the hallway.
“You alright?” She asked as she saw Y/N’s sad face.
“Yeah, just family annihilators, they always hit me differently, you know?” She said as they turned and walked down the hall towards the stairs.
“Ballistics confirmed that the rest of the Lewis family was shot with the same 357,” Spencer said as he turned and watched Y/N and Emily walk down the stairs together.
“So if it was a gang, there was only one shooter,” Rossi stated after processing the information he had just received.
“The second and third victims were Trisha Lewis and six months old Blake,” Emily said.
Spencer shook his head at the thought of a six-month-old being killed.
“The injury patterns suggest that Mrs. Lewis tried to shield the baby with her own body,” Y/N said with a sigh trying not to let herself get worked up.
“Matt Lewis was found right here,” Rossi said with his hands pointed to the floor. “Ronald Underwood just over there-” he pointed to the blood spot to his left- “Underwood was shot eleven times in the head and abdomen.”
“But Lewis himself only had a single gunshot wound to the head at almost point-blank range?” Spencer questioned.
“How did someone get that close?” Y/N asked looking between Rossi and Spencer.
“He could’ve been subdued first,” Emily proposed.
“The M.E. didn’t find any signs of a blitz attack or struggle,” responded Spencer.
“Well, it had to be an ambush of some kind,” Derek said as he inspected some of the walls with blood spatter. “Probably when he was confronting Underwood.”
“But that’s almost impossible based on where the body was found,” Spencer said looking over at Derek.
“It’s right in the middle of the room,” Emily said as she looked at the bloodstains.
“It’s too out in the open to surprise somebody,” Y/N said agreeing with Emily.
“Matt Lewis wasn’t shot here,” Rossi said as he pointed to the spot where the body was found.
“No, but someone moved the body to make it look like he was,” Spencer said.
“Forensic countermeasure designed to make us think that these guys died in a gunfight that never occurred,” Derek said as he realized what probably happened.
“Bullet and blood everywhere, too messy for an accurate reconstruction,” Rossi said.
“Okay, so the unsub gets the drop on Matt Lewis,” Y/N said as she pointed to where Matt Lewis was found. “He then kills the rest of the family, and then leaves behind a drugged-up patsy to cover his tracks?”
“This wasn’t a burglary at all. There was a higher purpose here, they’re staging the crime scene as some kind of message,” Spencer said.
“This guy’s trying to make it look like black kids from the hood are killing white families, in white neighborhoods,” Derek said.
“Pretty powerful message,” Emily said.
“No kidding,” Y/N added as she shook her head.
The five finished up in the house and decided to head back to the station
“You good?” Spencer asked her as they walked out of the house, noticing how she was looking a bit upset.
“Yeah, yeah, I just can’t believe what happened in there really, family annihilators you know they just get to me, this one more than the others,” she explained to him.
“Yeah, this one is sad, I get it,” he said as he looked at her. “But we’ll catch him like we always do, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to put the cuffs on him.” The last statement was a hope to make her smile because he loved her smile so much.
It worked.
A smile crept up to Y/N’s face. “I might just do that.”
-----------
Y/N sat in the station the next morning. Head laying on her arms as she looked at the crime board on the wall. Another family had been killed last night, so they had been added to the board.
She stared at the victims of the first two families, they looked so much like hers. She saw herself in the shoes of the young girls, the memories of her childhood overwhelmed her. She lifted her head up and rubbed her face with her hands lightly, not wanting to rub the makeup on her face off.
The feeling of a warm hand on her back made her pull her face out of her hands. She looked beside her and saw Spencer as he sat down after taking his bag off, a coffee in his hand.
“You didn’t bring any for me, I see how it is,” Y/N said with a fake hurt expression on her face as she leaned into the back of her chair.
“Actually-” he pointed to her right side- “I did think of you.”
Her heart fluttered, “You sure know the way to my heart Spence.” She grabbed the large coffee cup and took a sip from it. The warm liquid running down her throat soothing her.
“Hey love birds, we’re about to give the profile,” Derek said leaning into the room they were in. The two stood up and made their way to where the rest of the team was.
“We believe we’re looking for a white male, in his late twenties to early thirties,” Hotch said, beginning the profile.
“Wait, wait, wait,” A deputy said quickly. “I’m sorry, I thought we were looking at black gang-bangers?”
“The unsub has been staging the crime scenes to make it look like black gangs and undocumented immigrants were responsible,” Derek said to the deputy.
“Why would anyone do that?” The deputy asked.
“We think he’s trying to create some racial conflict,” Y/N said hoping that was the best way to answer.
“In 1969, Charles Manson orchestrated the Tate-La Bianca murders, in the hopes of creating a race war between the blacks and whites that he referred to as Helter Skelter,” Spencer explained.
“A name he stole from a Beatles song,” Rossi added, the comment only being funny to the team since they knew that Rossi’s friends with Ringo.
“Members of the Manson Family left watermelon rinds at the scene of the crime and also painted panther paws on the wall in blood in the hopes of convincing authorities that the black panther was responsible,” Spencer continued on his explanation.
“Hate groups like the Aryan Nation believe that race war is not only inevitable but necessary,” Hotch said looking over the see of officers.
“Our unsub may be a member of one of these groups,” Emily added.
“Aryan gangs have a strong presence in prisons, so he may be an ex-con or even possibly related to a convict,” Y/N said.
“We think he may also be some kind of zealot,” Rossi began. “He believes his war is already being fought, and these murders are a mission to him.”
“And like a soldier, he is willing to put himself in harm’s way,” JJ added.
“The unsub may also be vulnerable somehow, weak mind, or even lonely. His cause gives him a sense of power and belonging,” Spencer said giving more depth to who the unsub might be.
“He’s physically fit enough to move dead bodies, so he’s probably young,” Derek said.
“But not too young as to be impulsive,” Y/N added quickly.
“These attacks took planning and focus. So, he’s disciplined,” Rossi said.
“He uses oxycodone to drug his unwilling partners,” Spencer explained.
“He does this without killing them, which shows that he is knowledgeable about dosages,” Y/N said.
“And oxy is expensive, so look at medical care professionals and caregivers, anyone with access to prescription drugs,” Emily said.
“This unsub is dedicated and driven, it makes him especially dangerous. Surrender is not likely part of his strategy,” Hotch said as the profile came to a close.
---------
“Hey Hotch, Y/N,” Derek said as he walked over to the two that were sitting at a desk going over some geographics to help Spencer with his profile. “There’s a mayoral race in town, and there’s a guy named Clark Preston all over the news.”
“Looks like he’s running a close second,” Y/N said as she looked at the tablet in Derek’s hand.
“Yeah, and check this out,” He scrolled down and clicked on the video.
“These vicious home invasions are a sign of the times,” Clark Preston said in the video. “As demographics change, so do crime rates. Now we may not be able to slow the browning of America, but we can sure as hell take our city back. And if you elect me, I’ll lead that charge.”
“The browning of America?” Y/N asked with astonishment.
“That’s a damn near hate speech,” Derek said as he looked at Hotch.
“He’s using the murders to further his campaign and I guess people are rallying behind it,” Hotch said.
“So what if our unsub is nothing like Manson? Manson never got his hands dirty, what if our unsub is more like his followers?” Derek proposed.
“You think he’s being manipulated?” Y/n asked pulling her legs up in the seat she was sitting in.
“Maybe even unintentionally, but either way, rhetoric like this could fuel his fire,” Derek said.
“We should talk to Preston,” Hotch said, nodding to the tablet.
“I already sent a car,” Derek told Hotch.
“Good,” was Hotch’s short response. “Y/N, do you mind talking to him with us, your knowledge in political science might help,” Hotch said turning to the woman in the chair.
“Sure,” she said with a nod.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am you’re here gentleman,” Preston said, not even acknowledging Y/N in the room. “Maybe now someone will stop these savages, what can I do to help.”
Derek looked at Y/N with one raised brow in question, after noticing that the politician in the chair wouldn’t even look at her. She just shook her head while she shrugged her shoulders and listened to what Hotch was saying.
“We were hoping to talk to you about some of your rhetoric,” Hotch asked as he looked at Preston across from him.
“My rhetoric,” Preston said, it wasn’t a question just him repeating what Hotch said hoping he heard him right.
“We believe the recent murders maybe hate crimes,” Derek said walking closer to Preston.
“Some of the things you say, well they maybe be construed as inflammatory,” Y/N said while she moved spots to stand behind Hotch.
“Agent Y/L/N’s referring to some of your recent campaign speeches and the references to the murders,” Hotch explained.
“We believe that whoever’s responsible for these crimes is impressionable and may be responding to the vitriol,” Derek said.
“You think I’m responsible?” Preston asked, turning to look at Derek.
“Nobody said that,” Y/N said crossing her arms. Preston never even looked at her when she spoke.
“If this person is motivated by racist sentiments, then what you are saying publicly may be affecting him,” Hotch explained making Preston turn his attention towards him.
“You’re profilers right?” Preston asked.
“Right,” Hotch responded.
“You study behavior, not actual facts,” Preston’s comment made Y/N sigh. “And then you come up with theories.”
“It’s really, not that simple,” Y/N said as she looked at the man. For the first time, he looked at her, and then he rolled his eyes at her statement.
“I’m sorry, who are you a secretary or something?” The blood in Y/N’s body boiled with rage at the question. She then watched Preston turn to Derek, “I’ll bet you had to work extra hard to get in the bureau, didn’t you? Probably still have to prove yourself on a regular basis. I respect that. I wish there were more like you.” He took small pauses in between each statement.
The man stood up from his chair and began to head towards the door. “I’ll cut back my media appearances, for now. But I suggest you start proving some of those theories of yours. And get some of those hard-working men to arrest those punks doing this.”
The way he said men made Y/N want to punch him so bad that she had to fit the urge to walk over to him and do just that.
“You gentlemen enjoy your day,” Preston then let himself out, once again not acknowledging Y/N.
“We should check out his list of contributors and his staff, it might be somebody in his camp,” Hotch said standing up from his chair.
“We need to check him out, too,” Derek said.
“No kidding,” Y/N said stilled enraged by the man. “Did you see what he was doing? Or more like wasn’t, he wouldn’t even acknowledge my presence and than he dared to ask me if I was a secretary.”
“The guy is no doubt a racist and is also very sexist,” Derek said.
“Oh yeah for sure,” Y/N said as she walked over to Derek by the door.
“Come on Pretty girl, don’t let him get you all riled up,” Derek said to her as they walked out of the room.
“I know, I know, it just makes me angry,” Y/N said as she and Derek walked over to the area where the rest of the team sat.
“What makes you angry?” Spencer asked as she sat down beside her.
“Clark Preston, not only is he a racist, and let that be known when he spoke to Derek, but also he is majorly sexist,” she grabbed a paper cup from the middle of the table and then poured herself some water. “The whole time we were speaking to him, he didn’t even look at me, and the one time he did he rolled his eyes and asked me if i was a secretary.”
“Are you serious?” Emily asked with disbelief.
“That’s ridiculous,” Spencer said while he shook his head.
“Uh-huh, you know Derek if he is a part of this, you know what would make me so happy,” She said as she turned to Derek.
“What’s that?” He asked her.
“If we got to arrest him, but I want to put the cuffs on him, just to let him know that a woman has power over him,” she said with authority.
Derek laughed before agreeing and promising her that if Preston was a part, they would do that.
The team sat scattered at various desks around the station they were at. Y/N stood next to Emily and Spencer as they looked over some maps of the area. Rossi sat at a large desk to left and Derek in a desk behind them towards the right.
“Hey, talk to me, doll face,” Derek said answering his phone to talk to Penelope, everyone’s attention now drawn to Derek and the woman on the phone.
“I got some dirt on your mayoral candidate, Clark Preston,” she spoke.
“He’s a politician, that shouldn’t be hard,” Rossi said as he walked over to be closer.
“Yeah, he’s a real estate lawyer who ran for city council last year and lost,” Penelope explained. “And he’s rich, as in if money was dirt he’d be filthy. He quadrupled his net worth in the last ten years, mostly from real estate.”
“So he managed to thrive despite the area’s economic downturn,” Spencer said in realization.
“What do you mean by mostly?” Y/N asked leaning closer to Derek’s phone so that she could be heard.
“Well, he is on the board of several financial institutions. Hedge funds, pension funds, oh, he likes to shuffle his money around. Even found some offshore accounts of his, I did,” she said giving what other dirt she could find on Preston.
“You only do that if you’re trying to hide it,” Emily said.
“What about his staff and contributors?” Spencer asked the woman on the phone.
“Uh-uh. No, they’re clean,” she said.
“Alright thanks, Garcia,” Derek said before he hung up the phone.“Preston’s a part of this, me and Y/N both think so.”
“Yeah you should have seen him in there,” Y/N said as she turned to Emily.
“He’s sexist, racist, and a little shady, maybe, but a murderer?” Emily asked as she looked between the two.
“It may be just a feeling, but I know he’s in this, we just need to figure out how,” Derek explained.
------------
The next morning the team arrived to bad news, as another family was killed earlier that morning. Surprisingly this time, the guy the unsub would have left for the blame got away.
“His names Ramon Gomez, he’s an undocumented immigrant from Mexico City and he’s pretty freaked out,” JJ said as her, Y/N, Derek, Spencer, and Emily stood in front of the room Ramon was in.
“That’s pretty understandable,” Y/N said while she folded her arms over herself.
“Was he able to give a description of the unsub?” Spencer asked as he looked at JJ.
“Uh, just of the vehicle, his English is not that good,” JJ explained. “We put an APB out.”
Emily nodded her head, then turned to walk into the room with Ramon in it. “Hole, mi nombre es Emily Prentiss,” she said to Ramon.
The four others stood outside and watched as she interacted with the man sitting at the table.
“This poor guy,” Y/N said as she looked at the frightened man sitting at the table.
The three beside her hummed in agreement as the continued to watch and somewhat listen to what Emily was saying to Ramon. He pulled his arm out showing scars on his arm. He then got a look of realization on his face as he remembered more.
Emily then thanked him and walked out of the room to the other four.
“He remembers hearing a train and then loud music,” she said as she came to the four standing.
“That’s something, let’s get started,” Y/N said and the five began walking towards the area they had been working in.
“There are approximately two hours between Ramon’s abduction here-” Spencer pointed to one spot on the map- “and his escape here. He crossed the train tracks here. Now, given the time and distance parameters, there’s no way the unsub could have ventured outside this radius.”
“Okay, so he said the train was close, and he heard laughter and loud music,” Emily said.
“I looked at points of interest next to the train tracks and there really isn’t much. There’s a warehouse, a taco stand that would have been closed, and a bar called the drunken dog ” Spencer explained.
“Why stop there? He need a drink?” Rossi asked.
“He doesn’t seem like the drinking type,” JJ said.
“Yeah, he’s not impulsive or sloppy enough,” Y/N said sticking her hands into the back pockets of her pants.
“I live to serve you, sir,” Penelope said as she answered Hotch’s call.
“Garcia, what can you tell us about a bar called The Drunken Dog?” Hotch asked.
“Ooh, I like it already. Let’s see- uh- it’s been around thirty years. It was opened by a warehouse worker named Manny Gresham, upon his death six years ago it was bought by a hedge fund company called First Advantage.”
“Why would a hedge fund company want a bar?” Emily asked.
“Let’s see. Well, they bought it for a song,” Penelope began. “And, poor man, his medical expenses bankrupted him, I guess that’s why-- shut the front door.”
“What is it?” Y/N asked.
“Clark Preston is on the board of First Advantage, which explains why the bar is on a shortlist of local businesses that support Preston for mayor,” Penelope answered.
“Of course it is,” Y/N said as she sat down on the desk behind her.
“Okay we missed something, we need to go back over his staff and contributors again,” Emily said looking at Spencer beside her.
“They all came up clean,” JJ said.
“Garcia, look up DMV records and find every registration in the area that matches the description on the unsub’s vehicle,” Derek said to Penelope over the phone.
“Okay, 79 names and I’m way ahead of you, none of them match anyone Preston’s team-” she stopped. “What the what? Oh. I’m good at my job. Pamela Mills donates monthly to Preston’s campaign. Her son Trevor, his car matches the description, and it’s registered in his name.”
“Got a photo and an address?” Y/N asked.
“Yes, I do. I also have a place of work for Trevor. He is a part-time messenger, I’m sending it now,” Penelope said pressing ‘enter’ on her keyboard aggressively.
“Alright JJ, Morgan, and Prentiss take the workplace, we’ll take the house,” Hotch said dismissing everyone to go off.
---------
“What do you have, Garcia?” Hotch asked as he sped down the road, lights on in case they were stopped.
“Sir, I found the connection between the Mills family and Clark Preston. Ten years ago, the Mills were the victims of a home invasion. Robert Mills, the father, and 10-year-old Julie were killed. Pamela was raped, and now she has a lot of brain damage, that has left her in a near vegetative state,” Penelope said explaining the sad story of the family.
“What about Trevor?” Spencer asked.
“He hid in the closet and when it was over, he called 911,” Penelope answered.
“That’s why he stuffed that boy in the closet,” Hotch said referring to the last family that was killed.
“He was reliving his own victimization.” Y/N said in realization.
“He didn’t do that to the other children he murdered because he didn’t relate to them,” Rossi said.
“Garcia was anybody convicted of the crime?” Hotch asked.
“Yes, a Ronnie Green and Carlos Jackson. Both African American, both serving like in Folsom,” Penelope said before she continued with her story. “And then after the murders, Preston, he financially supported the family almost entirely. “
“So they’re close, he’s known the family for years,” Rossi stated.
“That must be how they’re paying Pamela’s medical expenses,” Spencer said.
“Yeah, it would be really hard to cover with Trevor’s part-time messenger salary,” Y/N added looking to Spencer beside her.
‘Yeah, I mean, it’s a top-flight policy,” Penelope said reading the health care bill.
“So Preston is playing the savior,’ Rossi said.
“And it looks like that monthly donation, that Pamela makes to Preston's campaign, is her disability check,” Penelope added.
“My guess is Trevor authorized that because he feels beholden to Preston,” Rossi said piecing together why that would happen.
“He probably Idolizes him,” Y/N added.
“So Preston is manipulating the Mills family to further his own agenda, he’s behind everything,” Hotch said coming to the conclusion that Preston was part of it all along.
“He took advantage of Trevor in a vulnerable state and made him trust and then brainwashed him,” Y/N said.
“Turned him into a killer,” Spencer added.
“Uh, guys,” Penelope interrupted. “There’s something else, Preston bought the Mills home after the invasions.”
The tires came to a screeching halt as Hotch pulled up to the Mills house. The four hoped out of the car, taking out their guns and walked to the front door.
Hotch pounded on the door, “FBI!”
When no answer came, Hotch pushed the door in and entered the threshold of the house. Y/N stood between Rossi and Spencer as they walked into the house. They then split up and looked around the house, Hotch and Rossi downstairs, Spencer and Y/N upstairs.
Y/N held her gun out in front of her as she entered a small guest room. She made sure the room was clear before walking out and meeting Spencer in the hall.
“You find anything?” She asked while she holstered her gun on her hip.
“Yeah, this note,” Spencer said as he inspected the note in his hand.
“Come on, let’s go find Hotch and Rossi,” She said before they walked downstairs.
“He’s not here,” Y/N said as she walked into the room with Hotch and Rossi. Spencer close behind her. Pamela Mills was seen laying in the bed not moving but looking at the four by her door.
“I found this in his bedroom,” Spencer said holding out the letter he found. “It’s addressed to her,” he said referring to Pamela.
“ ‘The price of peace is sacrifice, and I’m prepared to pay that price, no matter how high. I hope you’ll still love me.’ This is a goodbye letter,” Rossi said after reading the letter.
“Or a suicide note,” Hotch countered.
“He doesn’t profile as suicidal,” Spencer said in a hushed tone not wanting to disturb the woman in the bed.
“No, but he knows this could be his final mission,” Rossi said.
“He may want to go out in a blaze of glory,” Y/N said as she glanced at the woman in the bed.
“It’s all about the election, he’s only got one move left, we need to secure Mayor Wennington, I’ll have the rest of the team find Hilary Ross,” Hotch said pulling out his phone to call Derek.
They headed back out to the car and got an address for Mayor Wennington heading over to his house. Y/N walked up the front door, the three men with her following behind closely.
“Mayor Wennington?” She asked when the door opened and a white-haired man in a loose-fitting tie answered.
“Yes,” he responded.
“Hi, I’m Agent Y/N Y/L/N, this is Agent Hotchner, Rossi, and Dr. Reid, we’re with the FBI,” she said introducing the men behind her.
“Is this about those recent murders?” The Mayor asked with concern.
“Yes, sir, we have reason to believe you might be in danger, would you come with us,” she said gesturing to the car in his driveway,
“Yes, of course, let me grab my coat,” he turned around and walked ten steps to a coat rack to grab his jacket before he headed out the door with them.
“Yeah, Morgan,” Hotch said answering his phone while they walked to the SUV.
“We’re on our way to Hilary Ross’ house now, she’s still not answering her phone,” Derek said.
“All right, call local police, he’s not going to go quietly,” Hotch ordered.
“You have Mayor Wennington?”
“Yeah, keep me posted,” Hotch said before hanging up.
----------
The next day, Y/N pulled into Clark Preston’s campaign office parking lot with Rossi ready to arrest him.
“You want to do the honors kid?” Rossi asked Y/N as they exited the vehicle they were in.
“Absolutely,” she said with a smile, her wish from the previous day coming true.
“I hope this is a good enough birthday present,” Rossi said with a smirk looking at Y/N.
“Who told you? Penelope? I thought she would’ve dropped that by now,” she said with a laugh as she opened the door to the office.
The two agents walked back to the room where Preston was sitting.
“Clark Preston you’re under arrest,” Y/N said as she walked over to the man sitting at his desk. She pulled him out of his seat and placed her handcuffs from her pocket on him.
“For what?” He asked defensively.
“For orchestrating the murders of the Mitchells, Lewis’, and others,” Rossi said as he and Y/N began to lead Preston out of his office.
“What proof do you have?” He asked trying to find a way out of the situation.
“Voicemails left by Trevor Mills,” Y/N said shoving him when he stopped walking.
“Voicemail messages? That’s ludicrous, that boy is mentally unstable, always has been,” Preston said.
“Clark Preston you have the right to remain silent,” Y/N said, not only because she had to but because she really didn’t want to hear his pathetic excuses anymore.
“I’m Innocent!” He tried to protest.
“And please feel free to exercise that right,” Rossi said grabbing Preston’s other arm as he tried to move out of Y/N’s grasp.
“Anything you say can, and will be used against you in a court of law, you have the right to an attorney, if you can’t afford one, one will be appointed to you,” She continued as Rossi opened the door and led them out.
--------
“Come on, Spence please tell me where we are going,” Y/N asked, her arm linked with Spencer as they walked down the street.
“I can’t do that Y/N, you know that,” he said as he led her further down the road.
“Can you tell me if this has to do with my birthday?”
“Maybe.”
“Oh, come on, I told Penelope that we really didn’t have to do anything,” Y/N said as she shook her head.
“Well, I learned that you need to let them have their moment with you, cause they’re the closest thing you’ve got to family here until you have your own,” Spencer explained to her as he looked at her with a smile.
Y/N sighed in defeat, knowing Spencer was right.
“Oh look we’re here, can’t believe you didn’t notice where we were going before,” he said as he turned to Y/N’s favorite dive-bar in the downtown area of D.C. Spencer began to pull her inside but she stopped him before he could walk up the small stairs to go inside.
“Wait- Spencer, before we go in, I have to do something,” she said pulling on his arm making him turn to her.
“What is it?” He asked facing her with a curious look.
She replied by placing her lips on his in a gentle kiss. It was a kiss that made both their stomachs do flips. His hands reaching up to grab her face as hers gripped the front of his coat. A year and a half's worth of bottled up feelings were expressed as Y/N deepend the kiss.
“I just really wanted to do that,” she said to him after they pulled apart. A smile came on Spencer’s lips and he pulled her in again for a shorter but just as meaningful kiss.
“I really like you Y/N,” he said face still close to hers.
“I really like you too, Spencer,” she said back with a smile. “Come one let’s go in.”
The happy couple walked into the bar seeing their friends standing in a corner to the left of the door.
“There’s the birthday girl!” Penelope said as she saw Spencer and Y/N walk in.
“Happy Birthday!” They all said.
Y/N blushed as she approached the table, “Thanks, guys.”
The team laughed, drank, and danced till the late hours of the night. Even Hotch laughed and gave Y/N a hug as they all danced to the music. A smile stayed on Y/N’s face the whole night as she danced with all her friends and drank happily.
Spencer watched the woman he was beginning to fall in love with belt the lyrics to a Coldplay song that played through the speakers and dance with Penelope and JJ. Y/N looked over and saw Spencer staring at her at her and walked over to him.
“You know it’s rude to stare,” she said with a giggle.
Spencer laughed, “I wasn’t staring.” The blush on his cheek told Y/N otherwise.
She quickly grabbed his arm and started to pull him onto the dance floor.
“Oh no, I don’t dance really-” he tried to protest but Y/N wasn’t having it.
“You do tonight!”
She brought him to the dance floor Penelope and JJ yelling ‘Hi!’ over the music as they started to dance again. Y/N tried to help Spencer move less awkwardly and he eventually started to get the hang of it. Taking Y/N’s hand in his he spun her around and danced with her. A smile formed on their faces hoping the moment would never end.

2nd weirdest crossover I’ve written. I also definitely have about 4K more of this written, but this was all I could fit without reaching character limit.
“Just because our parents are married, it doesn’t mean I like you.”
“Oh, the sentiment is returned in full.”
Beca Mitchell glares at the younger girl, “Just stay out of my room, out of my business, and out of my life and we’ll be fine.”
“Fine.” Rachel scoffs. “I hate you.”
“I hate you too, pipsqueak.”
“Beca!”
Beca blinks furiously as she pulls herself from the memory and glances to her few excited acapella teammates. Everyone is watching with her with wide eyes, and all Beca can do is squirm uncomfortably as she shifts away from the looks. She knows why they’re watching her, they’re waiting for her excitement; Beca is minutes away from being reunited with her little sister and she is beyond thrilled.
“She’s here!” Flo calls from the window.
With a small smile, Beca allows her friends to pile out the door and welcome the youngest Mitchell into their embrace. Beca slowly makes her way to the front door and watches as her baby sister is stuck in a game of ping pong of hugs and kisses. As she watches, Beca can’t help but feel a little amazed by how much Rachel has grown. Not too much has changed really, she still has stars in her eyes and a smile too big for her face.
She’s still the same kid who came nose diving into her life when she was fourteen. But it’s different now, she’s different. She’s twenty and has been away at college for the last three years, she missed Rachel’s entire high school experience. She missed Rachel. Now, her little sister is here and she gets a chance to rebuild something that she knows is pretty much already unbreakable.
“Alright, alright!” Beca calls. “Let the girl breathe.”
“Rebbie!”
Beca winces, “On second thought, smother her.”
Rachel is full of giggles as she skips to her sister and throws her arms around her. Beca doesn’t bother to hide her smile, she doesn’t try to smother that part of her only her sister can bring out. If Beca is being honest, gaining a sister is the only reason why she got through her parents divorce. For the first few months, she hated Rachel but after a few awkward conversations over microwave dinners and swapping their musical passions, everything changed. She changed.
“Hey, pipsqueak.” Beca grins.
Rachel pulls away with a beam, “I missed you.”
“I missed you more. Believe it or not, there’s not a lot of people like you on this campus.” Beca teases, and Rachel simply waves her off. “Did you get here okay? How was your flight?”
“Beca, do you have actual...feelings?” Flo asks as she furrows her brow. “I thought you were much like the boy from back home who didn’t speak so they sent him to live in the forest.”
“They sent a kid to live in the forest?” Amy scoffs with a roll of her eyes. “Big deal. In Tasmanian, we sent a kid to wrestle crocodiles to prove we were a higher class.”
Stacie blinks in horror, “What happened to him?”
“He died.” Amy shrugs.
Beca slaps a hand to her forehead while her sister simply laughs, “Jesus. Rach, I promise you’ll get used to all of...this.”
“I like it.” Rachel assures her with a bittersweet shrug. “Back home, the Glee club never really accepted me for me. I-I didn’t have this. And having friends? That’s all I want. The bonus is that my friends get to become my family.”
“Don’t worry, Mini Mitchell,” Stacie beams as she bounces to wrap her arms around Rachel. “You’re here and this is a brand new start. So, how about we show you your room?”
Rachel nods happily, “Please.”
Beca watches with a small frown as Flo and Stacie eagerly swallow Rachel up in a herd to lead her into their house. As she watches her sister, Beca can sense a change. She isn’t sure what it is or what it means but it doesn’t feel good. It makes her stomach turn, and she’s determined to figure out what has happened to Rachel in the three years they’ve been apart.
“You good, Shawshank?”
Beca nods, “Yeah. Totally.”
“She’ll be okay.” Amy assures her as she claps a hand on Beca’s shoulder. “Just give it some time, yeah? We’ve got her back.”
“I know.” Beca chuckles. “Thanks, Amy.”
*
Rachel meets everyone in small clumps. She was greeted by Flo, Stacie, and Amy. Later, she was given a tour by Ashley and Jessica. After that, she had endured a quite disturbing conversation with Lilly before Beca had pulled her away. Now, she’s watching Beca anxiously stare at the front door as she waits for the important Bella to appear. And by important, Rachel can only assume that Beca is talking about Chloe Beale.
Chloe is the one thing that Beca always talked about when they would text or spend hours on FaceTime. She told Rachel about the shower, about her Bellas audition, about Chloe’s surgery, about their win at Nationals, and so on. And like any other fairytale that Beca has read her, Rachel waited in anticipation for the big kiss. For the happy ever after. Yet it never came. At least not with Chloe. Instead it came in the form of some guy named Jesse, someone Beca had only mentioned once and that was only because he has accidentally bumped into Chloe and didn’t apologize.
“Beca, I’m here! What’s so important?”
When Chloe appears, Rachel wants to slap Beca. She genuinely wants to pile drive her sister into the nearest concrete platform because Chloe is beautiful. She’s stunning. The photos and selfies Beca has sent her doesn’t do that older woman enough justice, especially when it comes to those blue eyes. Suddenly, Rachel understands just why Beca hasn’t made a move on her. She understands why her sister ended her relationship with Jesse before it could even really begin; she ended it because of those damn baby blues.
“Chlo,” Beca drawls. “This is my little…”
“Oh. My. God.” Chloe squeals. “You’re Rachel.”
“I am.” Rachel nods. “And you’re Chloe.”
“I have heard so much about you.” Chloe sighs as she sweeps Rachel into a tight hug. “Beca has a calendar that has been counting down to this day. It’s so cute.”
Beca slaps a palm to her face, “Chloe.”
“What? It’s true. Out of all of us, you are the only one with a younger sister. Can you aca-believe it? The rest of us are stuck with older siblings or smelly baby brothers.” Chloe pouts as she pulls away from Rachel. “Don’t be ashamed of how much you love her.”
“I’m not.” Beca chuckles. “I really am happy for her to be here.”
Chloe crosses the room to cup Beca’s cheeks as she grins, “You’re so cute.”
“I’m late! Oh darn, I am so late!”
Chloe pulls away from Beca in time to watch as Emily spills into the house and stumbles over the rug. It isn’t a shock to anyone when her books go flying and she lands with a thud, but Rachel is quick to rush forward to help her pick up her books. And as Emily looks up, Beca sees it. She sees the moment a spark is lit, it’s the same spark that was lit for her three years ago at that activities fair.
“Wow.” Emily swallows hard. “Uh, hi.”
“Hi.” Rachel whispers. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m good. Uh huh.” Emily nods as she stumbles to her feet and accepts the book Rachel offers her. “You didn’t have to help. Thanks.”
“It’s no problem.” Rachel grins.
Emily sputters as she offers her hand, “I’m Emily. Emily Junk. And yes, I said junk. Like the stuff you find in the garbage...but I’m not garbage. Or at least I don’t think I am.”
“I definitely don’t think you’re garbage. At least you don’t look or smell like it.” Rachel giggles as she accepts the soft handshake. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard all about you, Legacy. I’m Rachel. Rachel Berry-Mitchell.”
Emily keeps the smile on her face as her eyes go wide, “Oh shit.”
“Yeah,” Beca snorts. “Oh shit is right.”
*
“So, are you going to help me unpack?”
“What’s the point?”
Quinn glares at her sister, “Seriously?”
“Q-Tip, I’m in the middle of finishing this project. Alex and I are halfway done and if we finish in time then that means dinner with Kara, and I haven’t done that in days.” Lena reminds her. “So, unpack by yourself.”
“Thanks. Always such a big help.”
“I allowed you to move into my apartment, didn’t I? I saved you from having to suffer through the tortures of dorm life.” Lena points out as she nudges her goggles back up her nose. “And I’m hiding your major from mom and dad.”
Quinn rolls her eyes, “I appreciate it.”
“That’s the attitude I’m looking for.” Lena smirks.
With a sigh, Quinn hauls another box into her room and looks at the bare walls. For the next four years, this is going to be her home. After begging and crying, Lena had relented and allowed Quinn to move into her apartment so she could avoid Barden’s dorm rooms. But now that she’s here, it feels so...empty. Even though she can smell her sister’s perfume everywhere and see pictures of the life she left back in Lima plastered everywhere.
No, the emptiness comes from the giggles that Lena gives as she studies with her best friend. Or the way she flushes when her phone lights up. It’s an empty sadness and jealousy that reminds her that her sister already has created a new life, she has escaped their parents expectations. But Quinn? No, Quinn is their last shot. With one kid in jail and the other gay, Quinn is their golden ticket. Their golden child. And she refuses to ruin that.
“Maybe that’s why you’re so lonely.” Quinn sighs.
And maybe, maybe it is.

Bechloe - Skype Night
Inspired by the Bellas performance of Love On Top!
Beca is isolating alone and is missing the Bellas more than she cares to admit. One skype call and a spontaneous burst into a song later and everything changes.Might continue it so lemme know your thoughts!]
-
Beca's music career had been put on a temporary hold as she was made to isolate at home, her hand wrestling to the bottom of yet another chips packet as she flicked through the TV channel for the 17th time. "Well this officially sucks" she groaned to herself, tucking her legs in closer as she eyed a photo frame on the TV cabinet, it was the Bellas graduation photo, looking back at it she wished she smiled more for the photo, she looked so grumpy, especially when compared to Chloe who her eyes focusing on Chloe in particular.
Beca hadn't seen Chloe in around 2 months which felt like agony seeing as she was used to seeing her daily, not that she'd ever admit it. The emptiness of her apartment was also driving her insane, she was in a position of wanting company but not wanting to ask for it, especially considering it had bizarrely became against the law for the time being, something she never could of seen coming.
See, everything went to crap when the Bellas graduated, a virus had taken the globe by storm, and university life had changed drastically, Beca was glad they had graduated before all the changes but it now meant she was isolating alone.
Fat Amy, who said she'd be Beca's 'roomie for life' received a 'dodgy' lump sum from her father so of course she was off living in a massive house somewhere and Chloe, who was her other potential roommate had gone and got herself stranded abroad whilst helping out at a vet overseas to gain more exotic animal experience.
Beca reluctantly removed herself from the sofa, dragging her feet across the wooden flooring as she made her way into the bathroom. She stared at herself in her mirror, her bottom lip tugging as she winced at the sight. Hair tangled, Cheetos dust staining her once white t-shirt and chipped black nail paint.
Tired eyes looked her reflection up and down, her hand lazily hitting the nozzle on the taps splashing herself with some cold water. "Okay Mitchell, you need to sort yourself out jeez" she said whilst waving her finger at herself in the mirror, pointing at herself somewhat sternly, then lightly smirking at herself for her own weird behavior. "I'm officially losing it" she admitted.
Feeling motivated to freshen herself up Beca jumped in the shower, warm water running down her body as she collected her thoughts. Stepping out the shower and feeling immediate regret as the cold air wrapped itself around her body, she shuddered, eagerly grasping for her towel as her wet hair now covered her eyes. She huffed, trying to blow the clingy wet hair off her lips as she blindly reached for her hair brush. Groans filled the bathroom as her hairbrush tore through the knots in her hair, her eyes watering from some particularly painful knots.
Fully clothed and nails now painted Beca had just finished on putting on her signature eyeliner. She sat in her bedroom, that was surprisingly still tidy, but that was because she had barely managed to remove herself from the sofa. She rarely socialized nowadays, other than her occasional skype calls with the group, but she always felt funny about joining calls, she was a bit awkward about having her webcam on and well, all of them insisted they have them on so she'd often opt out.
Beca however was eager to speak to Chloe, which was hard to do as she was a key worker at the vet she was helping out at abroad, with time zones and Chloe's long hours she was often exhausted so she rarely had the time and Beca felt weird reaching out to the others, she refused to come across as clingy but secretly felt sad whenever they left their skype calls. She even felt disappointed when Jessica left her.
Her hand moved to flip open her laptop lid as she adjusted her hair once more "I'll just call her, she'll be home" she mumbled to herself as her mouse hovered over the call button on Chloe's contact.
"Why do I feel so damn nervous" she said fidgeting as she stared at her username "Okay after 3, i'll click the damn call button" she moved her mouse up once more as she counted to three, pressing down on the green button as her own video filled the screen whilst a ringing noise echoed out her laptop speakers.
"Man I hate staring at myself like this" she muttered as the whole screen was filled by her camera.
A red circle, with a hang-up symbol filled the screen. Beca's heart sank. "Bad timing?" she wondered.
_______________________________________________
Chloe's heart raced with excitement when Beca called. She was getting worried about her since she had been so far away, she would often flood her with texts making sure she was eating and drinking enough. She knew Beca was down about not being able to carry out with her record label work and she wanted nothing more than to be there with her, but she knew she'd been neglecting Beca lately, she just didn't have the time and the time gap only worsened things.
"You guys Beca is calling give me a second I'll add her!"
DontBelieveInLadders: [Quick AMBUSH her!]
________________________________________________
Chloe's icon flashed up on Beca's screen it was her wearing sunglasses cuddling a baby fox, a new photo it seemed. Beca now focused her attention on her laptop that was now ringing as it flashed up "Chloe Beale + 8 others" "Group call?" Beca wondered as she clicked the green phone icon.
"BECAAAA!" the group greeted in unison. "Oh sweetie you look so good!" Chloe said with a grin who was also visible on her webcam "And you've got your camera on! I'm so glad" she said excitedly."Someone made an effort" Fat Amy teased, taking notice of Beca's stylish yet casual appearance.
Beca looked away from her camera awkwardly "What? I always get ready pfft"
"You literally have no where to go" Fat Amy responded in a pitchy yet blunt tone "But thats okay Beca, self-care is important and Impress-Chloe-Care even more so"
Beca rolled her eyes "How long you guys been on a call for anyways?" her hands fidgeting with the items on her desk, just out of shot of her camera.
FlippingThroughBorders: {Oh we just started} Flo typed on the message box below
DontBelieveInLadders: {We're still waiting for Stacie and still setting up bits} commented Aubrey as she rustled around in the background for her physical webcam to plug in.
_______________________________________________
Stacie laid in bed, browsing memes on her phone, her attention was diverted when Emily's text popped up {Heeeey hurry up and join the group skype call!} Stacie dangled over her bed and grabbed her laptop from underneath her set of bedside draws. She blew the dust off the top of it and opened it up "I've not used this bad boy in a while" she said as she turned it on, the battery flashing orange from where it was getting low.
As she opened up her search engine it flashed up with her old google tabs, an explicit site was restored and automatically started playing the last video she was watching. Stacie's eyes widened "Well that's quite the greeting," her eyes bulging as she looked the model in the video up and down before shaking her head and closing the tab. "Now is not the time for that" she laughed to herself as she launched skype and joined the chat.
"Hey you guuuuuys" she greeted with a toothy grin. The Bellas greeted their soprano cheerfully., Stacie's eyes focused on Beca "Look who finally learned that isolation doesn't mean isolating from virtual calls!"
Beca rolled her eyes again "I join in!""Occasionally" Emily countered."Or when Chloe is in the chat" Fat Amy coughed
"Aw poor Beca" Flo said into the mic now she had got it set up.
Beca began snapping her fingers rhythmically, gaining even more attention from the group. "I'm not doing this with you guys"
"Ba bah bah ba, ba" Beca hummed trying to drown them out
"What is she doing?" asked Emily"Ba ba bah da..." Beca continued "is that?" Aubrey raised an eyebrow "I recognize that arrangement, is that, Queen B?" Aubrey said enthusiastically as she leaned forward in her seat.
"Oh my god you guys are we going to sing?" Chloe said excitedly clasping her hands together as she bounced in her seat.
"Aw yeah!! lets sing together tonight you guys" Emily beamed"Okay legacy calm down don't ruin it before we've begun" Amy groaned.
The Bellas began snapping their fingers and harmonizing as they began to develop more of a beat for the song Beca was starting off.
"Here we go" said Fat Amy as the beat had been accomplished. A grin slowly tugged at Stacie's face as Lily began beatboxing. "i'll bring owowowo beat in"
Beca glanced away shyly as she sang into her microphone."Honey, Honeyyy, I can see the stars, all the waaaay from here, can't you see the glow on the--"
"windowpane" the girls harmonized in unison
"I can feel the sun, whenever you're near, everytime you touch me I just melt away" Beca's eyes glanced at Chloe occasionally as she continued singing.
Fat Amy then jumped in with a solo "Everybody asking why i'm smiling now from ear to eaaaarr!" ("You can say love hurts") "Well I knooooooow-OHHH" ("It's gonna take a little work") Fat Amy said raising her fist passionately.
"Nothings perfect but its worth it, after fighting through my tears!" Stacie sang strongly
"And finally you put me first!" (dah-dah) the Bellas all sang in unison
The Bellas danced together, doing hand gestures and performing together in perfect harmony. As the song continued Beca felt herself feeling more confident again, her heart feeling full as it felt like everyone was finally with her again. Her eyes closing as she found herself getting lost in the moment.
"Chloe its you, you're the one I love, you're the one I need!"
"You're the only one I see, C'mon Chloe its yoooooou"
Beca blurted out raising the octvave as they were reaching the end of the song "you're the one who gives your all, you're the one I can always call!" the girls continued the beat but stared at her. This was the version Beca would sing on her own, as she often would change song lyrics to fit how she felt.
"When I need to make everything stop, finally you put my love on top"
Chloe paused for a moment, failing to continue singing as her mind tried to grasp the lyrics that had just left Beca's mouth, her face reddening with slight tinges as started singing through her smile and teary eyes.
Being a supportive team the girls continued to hold off on teasing her, after all it was one of the Bellas standards not to let distractions interrupt a performance. Fat Amy couldn't help but smirk as she sang, she was itching to tease Beca.
The DJ was in her own world, snapping and swaying in her seat, singing with her eyes closed she hadn't even realised what she had said untilt he girls changed the lyrics themselves.
"Oh Baby I can feel the wind whipping past my faaaace" Beca sang
"As we dance the night awaaaay" the girls harmonized.
"And girl your look it tastes like a night of champagne" (oooh) Chloe sang solo
"As I kiss you again and again and again and again" Aubrey chimed in.
As the song continued the girls began grinning, looking over at Chloe and Beca, then back to eachother as they all nodded, clearly on the same wavelength as the song progressed.
"CHLOE ,its yoooou" they sang raising the octave.
"you're the one Bec loves! you're the one Bec neeeeeeeeds"
"WAIT, GUYS" Beca yelled as her face went a shade of red she had never gone before.
"You're the only one she sees! c'mon Chloe its yoooou, you're the one who gives your all, your the one Bec can always call, when she needs you everything you DROP, finally! you say your love out loud"
"Baby, you're the one that I love, you're the only one that I need!" Chloe sang loudly with a cheeky wink as Jessica and Ashley dominated the top notes.
"C'mon Beca its yoooooou" the Bellas sang in harmony
"When I need you everything stops, finally you put my love on top" the group then faded out to a stop.
The girls all cheered and celebrated as they finished the spontaneous arrangement of love on top. "Crushed it" Amy said with a fist bump.
Beca had already retreated behind her hands, wishing nothing more than to have a wheelie-chair so she could move herself off screen with speed.
"So Beca, remember the last time at the ICCAS when you changed the lyrics, well this was certainly distracting but, it kinda sounded like a confession" Aubrey teased.
"Hmm, thats so ODD Aubrey, I TO was thinking that sounded like a confession to me"
"I mean I got ripped a new one for performing an orginal song at that riff off, but to lyric change Beyonce, you're bold Mitchell" Emily joked.
"Aw don't tease her guys, shes drowning, although Beca, you should know, I've experienced drowning for real,so this is better" Flo joined in.
"There was no hiding that Becs, surprised you didn't notice!" Stacie grinned
Beca groaned "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you" she said behind the safety of her hands.
"Well duh, it wasn't my name you sang the word 'LOVE' next too, quarantines got you all soft huh" Stacie couldn't help but tease.
Beca slowly dragged her hands down her face, peering out from the tips of her fingertips. "It was that obvious huh... guess thats what happens when I have the place to myself to sing the wrong damn version."
Chloe cleared her throat "Well I for one found that really sweet Becs" she said with a smile that met her eyes as her hand rested on her chest "Honestly my heart is pounding! its a good thing I know how to do CPR well on animals but, y'know" she fanned herself with her hand feeling flustered.
"Yeah um that wouldn't work Chloe, you can't do CPR on yourself" Fat Amy said shaking her head.
"I-I know that its just" Chloe went red "I just--" she threw her hands up in the air "Oof just get over her and kiss me Mitchell, screw this virus, lets just isolate together"
Beca looked up "Man this is so embarrassing this wasn't meant to come out like this and--"
"I'm glad honestly!" Chloe said with a grin "it just makes being a part from you even harder" she whined.
"I just wish you weren't so many miles away" Beca groaned
"Y'all need a ride because I can fly a plane, I just ain't got no licence officially at least" Cynthia Rose commented with a slow nod. "If you know what I mean" she said clicking her tongue.
"Thats so sweet of you but highly illegal, the Bellas have been in enough trouble in the news so we better do things legally this time, ahem, that goes to you too Amy" Chloe said suspiciously looking over at Amy who had moved off camera.
"Whaaaaat" Amy groaned "Its not like I was up to anything suspicious on a dodgey website just now"
"C'mon ladies lets give these two lovebirds some space and go gossip in another chat!" said Emily as the Bellas all began to retreat from the call so only Beca and Chloe remained.
Chloe placed her hand on the screen "Can't believe i'm only saying this now after like what, three years but, I love you Beca"
"I love you too Chlo"

(A/n: this might be a little biased since I’m in love with this man & I’m basing the relationship parts of this on my mc/myself so hope y’all don’t mind 😬)
IG info/bio: @/lucas.koh | 93.1k followers | for business inquires please visit: kohptr.com
LUCAS KOH —
27 (28) years old
From Oxford, England
Father is Korean & a car salesman at a Nissan dealership, he’s a strict/serious man who has high morals but beyond that he can actually be a softie in rare moments (+ that’s who Lucas gets his height from 🤤)
Mother is actually Chinese but lived in Korea studying abroad and eventually became a successful chiropractor (s/o to doctor mondragon on YouTube who I watch to help me sleep some nights and wish I could see! Lol) with her own practice. She’s a firecracker, intelligent, and quick to say what’s on her mind and doesn’t care if you like what she’s got to say. Most patients like that about her, she’s honest and her family is used to her ways but in the same way it’s more loving than offensive? (Smol woman but will remind you when she’s cracking your body she’s got enough power in her)
Either he’s a only child or he comes from a family of all boys with two younger brothers (they’re all in their 20’s) or he has one younger brother and one younger sister idk you decide
I’m feeling like he’s a Sagittarius? Carefree in the terms of he wasn’t viewing finally getting with MC when she’s dating someone else as cheating. Mans was READY to risk it all for me okay and I was down for it but ofc I had to react realistically and NOT “cheat.” *sigh* one part of me was debating ‘are we really dating tho bobby? We’re on reality tv. We’re not gonna die without each other if we hang out in seperate rooms’ *cough* Nope. but I’m a woman about her loyalty
He’s definitely adventurous. I don’t see him as the type to want to stay home all the time even tho his work definitely keeps him busy/exhausted. He’s down for road trips 💯
Occupation? Physicotherapist. His mother inspired him to get into the field and watching sports + the way players got their injuries always intrigued him? So to provide the best plan to have someone heal was something he loved to do plus being hands on while teaching/helping was a passion for him + I feel like he would also use a massaging technique instead of the usual exercise part of it
Now as someone who suffered a ACL & Mensicus tear & is STILL dealing with this BS pain years later, I would be so thankful to have him around! I feel like he’d have a optimistic attitude towards his patients and that’s what people need not someone that’s insensitive (like my surgeon/PT’s I had)
He models from time to time, when he was first approached about it he was upfront about not wanting to do it. It was much different than getting your picture taken for the office. That’s usually quick, the whole modeling process felt longer but somehow he was talked into it by his brother who’s a photographer and his mother. “Do you think you’re ugly? ‘Cause I’m not and you’re a part of me, so therefore there’s no such thing. Just look at your cheekbones, your jawline! I gave you those. The only good thing your father gave you was height.” Which filled the house with snickers while Lucas’ father just rolled his eyes and continued reading his newspaper for breakfast
Has a motorcycle and some luxurious car—not a Tesla those are basic now 🤷🏽♀️
Loves his motorcycle so much he’s got a tat of it on his right bicep
He has two available parking spaces in his parking garage at his penthouse but keeps his bike away in a storage unit due to a neighbor scratching it after his girlfriend broke up with him? Saying she was off to date Lucas? But that wasn’t true at all. He barely knew the girl, they didn’t live on the same floor. People were crazy but if you push him his temper might come out
Owns a leather jacket that he paid a lot for
Believes in “treat yo self” if it means in quality when shopping and has no issue being a big spender but he knows how to manage it well (his father told him all about how his own father dealt with bankruptcy)
Since he’s often at the office the whole day, he’s usually a night owl. He loves night drives and night dining. That’s usually when he finds the best places to eat
There’s this one pho spot that he loves and it’s his go to spot when he wants something quick on the way home
Cannot sleep with his entire body covered in covers, either his arms/shoulders have to be out or his legs, which would be a issue for me/mc since I sleep with the covers over my entire body...yes even in hot weather with the AC cranked up😂
He also makes great kimchi fried rice & loves Italian food
Will wine and dine. I believe it. I envision it! He loves going out on dates with his significant other (If he’s single and not with me, I think he’d try out speed dating)
Will dress to impress, will buy you a new fit he wants to see you/us/mc in especially if it’s your anniversary
Loves taking bubble bath’s with infused oils or flower petals with significant other
He’s the type that takes long showers & it brings him a true sense of freedom. He’s never able to take a quick shower, he gets lost in his ideas of what to do next in this world & it’s limitless
If he’s in for the day, which usually doesn’t last long—he’s either in sweats or in a robe all day
Only drives his bike on the weekend or if he’s going out of town but if he’s going on a trip for a couple of days with MC & if she’s got a bit of anxiety like me? He’ll stick to his car to make them comfortable
I feel like he enjoys the winter season. Maybe if it’s a slushy rainy winter more than a blizzards/snowy season. He loves bundling up, much to people’s surprise. He’s more than just his good looks and body love island fans!!!
Doesn’t post much on his socials. If you need to see what he’s about then you should do so in person or already know who he is. The internet can’t tell you much, in his opinion
Keeps himself in good health, I mean duh what kind of PT would he be 😉 goes on night jogs with reflector clothes on & occasionally morning jogs & at home workouts
Probably will date someone younger than him. Not by much, I don’t think he can take immaturity well. (That maybe how he views it) The most is 4 years younger than him
Henrik is his best bud from the show. They hang out all the time, crash at each other’s places, and vacation together all the time. They will be each other’s future best men forsure
Doesn’t go out of his way to talk to the rest of the guys from the show but if he happens to browse his feed and sees something he wants to comment on then he’ll carry a conversation of course
Far as the girls? He talks to Hannah & Priya from time to time. He also follows Hope and they like each other’s posts but not much communication is there either?
Either has a mint or black phone case, probably a Samsung galaxy user
Likes pistachio frozen yogurt but he’s lactose & doesn’t want to believe it :(
Smokes cigars when he’s out with his boys
Has a tight knit group of friends, majority of them are from the medical field since they all went to uni together + most of them are also married so the pressure is so on
*He’s the oldest out of his sibs so according to his parents he’s expected to be married first yet his baby sis is engaged and she’s 23*
wants a family...eventually. Probably will happen in his early thirties? The max for children is 2 for him. He knows they can be a HANDFUL due to his own friends who have kids + he’s a godfather and he’s babysat before so he knows how it goes!
enjoys his freedom as stated which further proves he’s a sag lol
Enjoys going to saunas to cleanse his pores/ get rid of toxins. It’s the easiest way for him to do so even tho his brother clowns him for it
His love language is deff physical touch. He loves hugs and resting his chin on top of your head, forehead to forehead, his nose pressed in between the space of your neck and shoulder, gentle squeezes, sitting next to each other with your legs touching, cuddling, sleeping on top of you or you on him, etc
He loves kissing. It’s automatic for him and it can also easily rile him up
Has strong opinions & will show them but will feel like he’s being attacked if it brings on a confrontation/argument
Will forgive and forget
Plays strategy board games
Makes his own natural healing creams & gives samples to his patients depending on their needs
His fav colors are: blue, white, & grey
Will grow a bit of facial hair in the cooler months if it’ll make mc happy (I’m a sucker for facial hair but hate it on myself lmao) but if he dislikes the feeling on his face he will shave and finds he likes a shaven face better, the facial hair makes him look a bit older—which is okay but that’s just his preference
When he stops putting gel in his hair/styling his hair in a quiff hairstyle it shocks fans with mc commenting on one of his pics, “you’re welcome x”
Likes going to the Hard Rock Cafe on causal weekends
also likes getting freaky in public, down for whatever 🤪
He’s a traveler so if he leaves the UK, I’m seeing him land in Toronto, Canada first and falling in love with it. I feel he would vibe well with the culture there, might even consider getting a vacation home in that location
Celeb crushes? Anne Hathaway, Beyoncé, Lupita Nyong'o, Anna Diop, Imaan Hammam, Jodie Comer, Megan Fox, Shay Mitchell, & Cassie Ventura Fine
Oh Lucas. I feel like we have similar tastes? Somewhat. He probably listens to more rock than I do? Maybe 80s rock moreso? & He listens to: WALK THE MOON, Allen Stone (his fav) , Emily king, Gavin Turek, Melanie Fiona, THEY., DPR live, & Sik-k
Anthem = Young the Giant, “Something to believe in”

This is my first oneshot, enjoy! :)
The Bellas have another reunion, minus one Bella. Beca’s new song plays on the radio, all Emily can do is listen and hope. Bemily oneshot. 1,595 words.
The bars dimly lit, empty bottles are on the table, fresh ones in hands. The Bella’s are huddled into a booth and Emily’s profusely apologising. She had text all of the girls asking if they wanted to meet up for another reunion, a year after the USO tour, and yet again the Bella’s had misunderstood, thinking they’d be performing. Instead Emily had just missed the girls and wanted to see the crazy bunch again.
Smiles and laughter radiates out of the booth, alcohol and the natural vibe from the Bellas can make that happen. Flo’s talking about her latest campaign with her juice business, Jessica, Ashley and Lily all listening intently. Stacie, Chloe and Aubrey are all chatting about baby Bella, how much she has grown over the past year, gushing over the photos on her phone. Fat Amy and CR are playing pool, placing bets that don’t include money. Emily’s not sure if they should be stopped or intervened, but decides to leave them as they’re not causing trouble just yet.
There’s one more Bella that hasn’t arrived, Beca.
Emily understands that after the deal with DJ Khaled, Beca’s been busy recording for her new album that’s due to come out next month, creating her image and tv interviews. But that doesn’t stop Emily’s smile not reaching her cheeks. She was still hopeful that she might show up, but as time passed it was making her feel less optimistic. Even though they have still text over the past year, Emily was excited to meet her favourite person.
During Emily’s last year as a Bella, she stayed in touch with her old captain, asking questions about her set list that she put together, using Beca’s favorite songs. Or asking how Beca’s enjoying LA, knowing the woman does not do well in the sun. Selfies of Emily studying, Beca in the studio, the little things that have brought the two closer than ever before.
The bar’s radio is playing in the background when the bella’s hearse a voice that makes them all quiet down. “And now, the new single from Beca Mitchell, get ready to listen to the sneak peek of what will be coming from this up and rising superstar”.
Looks of confusion spread between the Bellas, as the guitar intro comes from the radio. Beca hadn’t mentioned to any of them about what songs she was putting on the album. She has only talked to Chloe and Emily since she had left and if it was brought up, Beca deflected the questions and the topic moved on. CR and Fat Amy stop playing, the rest of the Bellas put their drinks down. Fat Amy shouts to the bartender to turn it up, Bella’s all excited yet nervous to hear what Beca’s first single will be.
The guitar is still playing softly, strumming a few chords when Beca hums along, “There she goes, she's the one for me. We got the kind of love that a blind man can see. She's my all and all. And she's my everything”
The Bella’s are still quiet, listening to the lyrics, Emily’s looking at her hands in her lap, which Chloe and Aubrey didn’t miss. After the tour they had been hanging out a lot more, since Fat Amy found her fortune and Beca moved to LA, Chloe decided to move in with Aubrey and once Emily had graduated, she moved in too. They noticed when Beca had not replied for a few days, and Emily ate her sorrows in ice-cream. Or when Beca sent her a gift and Emily was like a child at Christmas. Yet again it was the little things, and they were both happy for Emily, knowing that her feelings were more than what Emily would admit.
“She's my seasons and reasons She's my summer she's my winter she's my spring That's why I'm in love With my best friend”
Everyone looks at Chloe, expecting her to know what's going on. It didn’t go amiss that Beca had clearly used female pronouns. Since she broke up with Jesse, she hadn’t dated anyone else, especially not a girl. She simply shrugs her shoulders and murmurs, then she looks at Emily, who is still looking at her hands. Too scared to look up as the tears had formed in her eyes, ready to fall.
“She's the reason that I'm still alive She took all the drugs and all the pain And all the bad stuff out of my life And that's the reason why And that's the reason why”
The song is played as an acoustic, with the occasional rap verse. It’s sung delicately, as if Beca’s scared herself and doesn’t want to break anything. But it’s still powerful, the meaning behind the words weighing more than what the guitar strings can hold. It’s a love song, not what the Bella’s expected from the badass captain, who they knew didn’t show a lot of emotions. It was as if the person on the radio was a completely different person to whom they had spent years with. It had only been a year, surly someone couldn’t change that much.
“I'm in love With my best friend I'm a love her Ooh, I'm a love her 'til the whole world ends”
Emily now looks at Chloe, the tears had fallen and her makeup was slightly smudged. Her smile has now gone, the younger Bella looked like a kicked puppy. She was hurt, Becas hadn’t mentioned any new friends in LA, surely she would have mentioned, better yet she would have mentioned about meeting a best friend. Chloe reached for Emily’s hands and showed her a small smile.
“My mama said girl She's a keeper you better Not ever beat her Or leave her I said mama Understand this That's my main, main Not my side chick”
Emily couldn’t understand. If there was no one in LA, who was Beca talking about? It is somebody who has met Beca’s family, which not many people had. She knew her relationship with her parents after their divorce was tough, but it had got better over the last few years. Beca was more understanding, but then again, she wouldn’t take just anybody to meet them unless she thought highly of them. The Bellas got to meet her parents in her second year at Thanksgiving, which was eventful enough (The Bella’s were on somewhat their best behavior but that didn’t stop the chaos of them). Jesse had met her parents which was understandable, they were together for 4 years. A few others had the opportunity too but once Beca left college, there was no one else to Emily’s knowledge.
“I'm in love With my best friend I'm a love her Ooh, I'm a love her 'til the whole world ends I'm in love... With my best friend Ooh, I'm a love her I'm a love her 'til the whole world ends”
The songs starting to come to an end, fading out. By now, all of the Bellas are looking at Emily, finally understanding the younger Bella’s feelings towards the short captain. No one said anything though, knowing Emily was on the verge of a public meltdown. The radio presenter starts talking again when the Bellas all look at the radio, almost as if the presenter was in the room.
“That’s the new single again from Beca Mitchell, lets hear the story behind the song from the woman herself!”
Beca’s voice can be heard, as if she was on the phone to the studio, “Thank you Mark, its one of the many songs from my new album, Mistakes. The song isn’t a mistake, but not telling the person it’s about is. I have had so many chances to come clean, but it’s scary stuff with all these emotions.” She chuckles and Mark asks who the song is about, after denying a few times she reluctantly agrees to spill.
The Bellas opposite Emily lookup, seeing Becas stood at the doors of the Bar on the phone, then eyes are on Emily. “It’s about somebody who I was in college with. At the time I was in a relationship with someone else, but I knew from the first time we met at a party, she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. She is amazing and helped me get to where I am now, without her support I don’t know what I would be doing.”
The Bellas still look at Emily, trying to see a reaction to what they are hearing. The tears have stopped, instead there is just confusion written all over her face. Beca’s now walking closer to the group, and somehow the Bella’s are understanding of what’s going on. Still sitting down in the booth, they let Beca carry on. “It has always been her, I can only hope that she feels the same way.” Emily looks up to Chloe and sees the smile on her face, with a slight nod, she turns and looks at what Chloe was indicating. Over her shoulder she sees Beca standing there. “Emily, I love you.”
Emily shoots out of the booth and throws her arms around Beca. Small squeals coming from the Bellas, “I love you too Beca, I’ve always loved you.” She pulls away, looking into teary blue eyes, leaning slightly to lean into the kiss. Fat Amy picks up Beca’s phone to tell Mark to phone back as “Bemily” is too busy making out. The other Bella’s interrupting the two girls as they gather to all hug Beca.

Title: Zoey’s Extraordinary Baby Skills
Show: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
Ship/Relationship: Zimon (Zoey x Simon)
Characters: Zoey Clarke, Simon Haynes main // feat. David Clarke and Mitchell Clarke (Zoey’s nephew, and David and Emily’s new baby son)
One Shot | SFW | Fluff | 1,943 words
Summary: Zoey has committed to babysit her nephew one Saturday when Simon drops by unannounced.
Notes: Special thanks to @bookreader525 @rebeccabunchs and @itsalwaysfour for editing and beta reading.
This is my first story in years, but I’m contributing because there’s so little Zimon fics out there, so please let me know if you enjoy it. More possibly to follow.
This story is set about six months after the finale. Zoey and Simon’s relationship is still very new. They have been seeing each other for about a month.
______
Zoey’s eyes shot open. The sound of someone banging on the door left her heart ready to jump out of her chest. She grabbed her phone thinking she had overslept, but thank god...it was Saturday. Zoey giggled at herself briefly before the knocking continued. She glanced back at her phone. Six unread text messages from David.
“Zoey...are you still asleep...the hell? ZOEY!?” David’s voice rang from outside her apartment. Her phone started to ring. Oh nooo.
“BE RIGHT THERE!”
Zoey ran to the door almost losing her balance. She swung it open with a force making David spin around swiftly, his phone to his ear.
“Umm, hi, did you forget something?” His words were pointed and short.
“David I am so sorry. I didn’t forget, I just overslept.” She shifted her attention to the baby in the car seat, her voice going up a few octaves.
“Hiii little man, you ready to spend the day with auntie Zoey?” David walked in, setting the carrier gently on the floor. He looked up, obviously still annoyed at the way Zoey so lightly brushed him off. Zoey looked back up and rolled her eyes, defensive.
“I didn’t forget, David, I swear.”
David shifted his weight, crossing his arms like he always did whenever he was in lecture Zoey mode. “I was getting a little worried, you know. I thought you were looking forward to today, it being your first full day with him and all. Not to mention Emily and the realtor are waiting on me.”
Zoey smirked.
“Of course I was–I am looking forward to it. I just had a late night. I promise I’m good; we’re good. I’m sorry I made you late.” She grinned in a playful manner.
David’s face squinched. “I’m only forgiving you because I need you. You’re literally our only option today, so hey, don’t lose him or anything. Here’s everything you should need. If you need anything else or have any questions, call either of us. We’re sort of expecting it.”
Zoey tilted her head, offended by his words. “Ha ha, you’re funny. Will you leave now? I’ve got some bonding to do with my nephew, sir.” Zoey picked the infant out of the carrier and planted a big kiss on his cheek. “Say bye to daddy.”
David looked back before closing the door. “Be good.”
Zoey smiled back. “I’m sure he’ll be a perfect angel.”
David grinned, “Yeah, actually I was talking to you.”
Zoey shushed him as the door shut. “He'll like me better than you one day!”
********later that morning**********
Zoey tiptoed into her kitchen. A children's television program played vibrantly in the background. She had studied Emily and David’s various parenting techniques many times since baby Mitchell was born, including using the TV as a means of keeping him entertained. Her little nephew had fallen asleep not even two hours since David had dropped him off. Seems little man doesn’t enjoy getting up early on Saturdays either, Zoey thought to herself.
Just as she began to take out a bowl for some cereal her phone started buzzing. SIMON. Zoey felt her face turn warm. She smiled shyly, unable to control the way her body reacted when it came to him. She answered the phone, flustered. “Hey, you. I didn’t think I’d hear from you until tonight?” Simon had been out of town visiting family and Zoey had been counting down the hours until she could see him again. They had plans to get together tonight once Simon was back in town.
“Hey, I couldn’t sleep last night so I decided to go ahead and come back early this morning. I was sort of hoping, maybe, I could come over to your place and bring you some breakfast?” Zoey loved how unpredictable Simon could be sometimes, despite being able to literally read his mind.
Zoey’s thoughts snapped back to her sleeping nephew in the next room. “Um, Simon, I um, I would love to have breakfast with you, but…” She was interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Come let me in, I’m right outside.” Zoey froze. Well, this should be interesting.
She opened the door to a very handsome Simon holding up a take-out bag. She was suddenly very aware she was still in her PJs and hadn’t brushed her hair since her abrupt wake up call this morning. “And you’re here, now...at my apartment...with?”
“Bagels,” Simon cut her off again. “Did you just wake up? I hope you have a coffee maker, their espresso machine was broken.” He brushed by her and walked to the kitchen counter. He smelled so good. She watched him as he set down the bag, taking contents out one by one. Seeing Simon in her kitchen, so domestic, was not something Zoey was prepared for. It was so unexpected, and very sexy. It took him stopping mid task to snap her out of her trance. “Um, Zoey, what’s that sound?” Zoey heard it too. Oh no, the knocking woke up the baby.
She sighed and started into the next room, leaving Simon looking confused. Zoey placed her hands over her face, distorting her words into muffles. “I was trying to tell you, but you didn’t really give me the chance.” Simon followed Zoey into the living room where the trail of noises were coming from.
Simon stared blankly. "Hmm...okay, yep...and...that’s a baby.”
“Yeah, Simon I’m keeping my nephew today. Did I not mention that to you?” Okay, so maybe I DID forget.
Simon watched intensely as Zoey picked up the crying infant and sat down on the sofa. She was so…wow. It was strange seeing her with a baby. Not strange as in unnatural, but the complete opposite. It was blissful. He was mesmerized. He continued to admire her as she comforted and soothed her nephew.
Zoey noticed Simon watching her. “Is this too weird? This is weird isn’t it?”
Simon smiled as he sat down next to her. “Surprisingly, no. Not really. I mean yeah, a little, but...in a normal, I’ve never seen you with a baby before, kind of way.”
Zoey tilted her head, curious. Simon continued. “It’s nice though. Different, I mean...I’m enjoying seeing this side of you.”
Zoey shifted her weight so that she could face Simon. “Not to make this weirder than it already is, but...do you, ya know, like kids?”
Simon didn’t hesitate before speaking. “Sure, I love kids. I have six nieces and nephews combined. They are a lot of fun.”
Zoey looked down. She was a bit embarrassed he didn’t understand her question, and annoyed she didn’t ask it better.
Simon noticed her blush. The realization hit him like a gut punch. “Oh, wow. You meant, do I want kids?”
Zoey used the baby to try to hide herself squirming in her seat. She wished so badly to rewind time and redirect this entire conversation. “Forget I asked. I have no idea why I asked you that. That was crazy,” Zoey giggled nervously.
Simon laughed and shook his head. “Do you want to hear the answer?” he asked in a cheeky way, as he raised one eyebrow. Zoey reluctantly nodded.
Simon proceeded cautiously. “I always loved kids, but I never really saw myself as a dad I guess. Not sure if that makes sense. With Jessica, she wanted kids, but I didn’t get excited at the thought when we were together. I always figured it would grow on me eventually.”
Zoey continued nodding along. She was unsure of where this was going and she felt herself getting nauseous. “Has it?” Zoey asked, her voice squeaky and faint.
Simon smiled again. “Not until recently.”
Zoey’s head shot up. Simon still held on to that cheeky expression. “I’m not saying I have any expectations, Zoey, but when I told you that day that I was going to go the other way this time—I meant that. I want it to be different. I want us to be happy. Whatever that looks like in the future, kids or no kids, whatever. That doesn’t matter, okay. This thing, me and you, us, it's still very new. I just want to enjoy our time together. I don’t care too much about the rest right now.” Zoey’s eyes sparkled with emotion, but she couldn't stop smiling. She stood as she struggled to find the words to respond. Simon stood with her. “Zoey, let me take him off you for a minute. See if you can find that coffee machine. I need some fuel soon or I'm crashing. No sleep remember?”
Zoey didn’t fight him. She handed the baby off to Simon. He had definitely done this before. She gave him a soft smile and kissed Mitchell on the cheek before walking into the kitchen. She couldn’t help but look back.
Simon began to coo and talk with her nephew, and now she was seeing a new side of him. One she didn’t hate. He was a natural, and it was doing things to her. Making her feel ways she didn’t understand. There was just something about seeing the guy you like holding a baby. Zoey had heard friends use the phrase “ovaries exploding” before but never really thought she had experienced what they were talking about until this very moment. She thought about the fact that Simon didn’t ask her the same question. Do I want kids? In that moment her body definitely did. Her mind raced as she continued to watch them from the kitchen. Then she heard it. It was a distant hum growing louder, distracting Zoey from the wave of desire she was feeling below the waist. A heart song—coming from Simon.
When tears find your eyes and you're feeling like life's got you down
When you feel so alone when there's nowhere to go, don't you cry
When you're thinking you can't go on
'Cause everything you try just goes wrong
I'll be that shelter in the rain
If you say you need a sunny day.
Then I'll be that sun when you need it to shine
And I'll move mountains and lakes,
If you say that they're in your way
Just like the stars I'm your light when it's too dark to see
Just say the word and I'll be whatever you need
And know that you'll always have me
That's what I'll be
Another one Zoey had not heard before. She knew it was for her, though it was almost sung as a lullaby for the baby. A future with Simon. She suddenly had a tinge of desire for it. All of it. Zoey found herself lost in a vision. A cliche: nice house with a yard, two kids and a dog. Them…happy.
Lost in her own head, Zoey realized there was no more music. She looked around confused. “Simon?”
She walked around the sofa to find the most Instagram worthy image her eyes had ever seen. Simon had fallen asleep, along with her tiny baby nephew who was now sleeping peacefully on Simon's chest. The physical intensity she had felt before was back. Whelp, yep...goodbye ovaries for sure. If this was a preview of a future with Simon, she didn’t mind it.
Zoey grabbed her phone and took a photo. She smiled as she reviewed it, then looked back at the picture perfect moment in front of her. She breathed in deeply as she soaked it in. The joy. In that moment she truly believed she had found the joy Simon had talked about so much. Maybe they even found it together.
Yeah, I don't hate this. I can live with this.

25 Days of BeChloe Christmases - 2019
DAY 21 - CHRISTMAS SECRETS
A/N: I don't want to give anything away, so the full prompt from Tumblr User rejection-isnt-failure is at the end of the story. _______________________________________________________________
Christmas Eve
It was early afternoon, and the Bellas were getting ready for their Christmas Eve party when Beca came bounding down the stairs.
"Alright, you losers," Beca called out as she put her jacket on. "Try not to burn the house down while I'm gone."
"Becs, stay with us," Chloe whined, grabbing Beca's arm. "You always miss our Christmas Eve parties."
"I'm sorry, Chlo," Beca said. "You know I spend Christmas Eve with my dad. I'll be back in the morning. Knowing you girls I can be here around eleven and still not miss opening presents."
"Are you saying we'll all be drunk?" CR asked, sipping a beer.
"That's exactly what I'm saying," Beca said with a laugh. "I promise I'll be back in the morning."
"Fine," Chloe said. "Tell your dad and Sheila Merry Christmas from all of us."
"Have a good time, Beca," Emily called out.
"Bring back some wine for breakfast," Fat Amy yelled from the kitchen.
"Don't do that," Chloe said, shaking her head.
"Wasn't planning on it," Beca said, opening the front door. "Save me some of your Christmas fudge, Stacie."
"Can't make any promises," Stacie called back.
Beca laughed as she walked out the door. Chloe sighed and went to help in the kitchen.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Beca checked her trunk to make sure all the gifts were secure. She got in the car and started it up.
"I love his song," Beca said, when Baby, Please Come Home came through the speakers.
Beca started singing along as she drove away from the Bellas House.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Chloe was rolling out the cookie dough while Stacie pulled another tray of them out of the oven.
"You know," Stacie said as she laid the cookie tray on the counter. "For someone who pretty much hated her father in Freshman Year, Beca always made sure she went to his house on Christmas Eve."
"I think the first year she was trying to make things better between them," Chloe said. "Now, things are better, and she wants to keep it that way."
"It just seems weird to me," Stacie said with a shrug.
"Stacie's right," CR said. "Beca even seems giddy when she leaves to go over there. And that's not a word I ever thought I'd use regarding Beca Mitchell."
The other girls chuckled. The laughter died down, and Emily looked around, furrowing her brow.
"How is it that all of you are staying at Barden for Christmas?" Emily asked. "Why aren't you with your families?"
"We always stay at Barden for Christmas," Ashley said.
"But how does that happen?" Emily asked. "I'm only staying because my folks are going to visit some of my mom's family in Europe. I'd normally go, but they're going to be gone for a month and will be all over the place. They don't know where they'll be on Christmas, so I couldn't really make any plans to meet up with them."
"I'm on a full-ride academic scholarship," Jessica said. "And neither my family or I could afford to buy me a ticket home."
"I live in Australia," Fat Amy said. "I can't afford to fly home for every holiday. So, I usually fly home for Spring Break each year."
"I grew up in foster care," Ashley said. "There isn't anywhere for me to go."
"I'm sorry, Ashley," Emily said.
"It's okay," Ashley said, smiling as she looked around. "I am with my family at Christmas. That's what it's all about, right?"
"Right," Chloe said, smiling at Ashley. "Emily, we all have our reasons for being here, but at the end of the day, we are still celebrating Christmas with family."
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Beca sang along to every song that played on the radio. She arrived and parked her car, hopping out and rushing to open the trunk. She grabbed a bag of gifts and made her way to the front entrance.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Chloe sat on the sofa, watching Fat Amy and Jessica singing their rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You. She let out a heavy sigh as she sipped her drink. She was jostled when Stacie plopped down next to her.
"Cheer up, Chloe," Stacie slurred. "This is a party. Drink and be merry."
"I'm sorry," Chloe said sadly. "I just wish Beca were here. It's our last Christmas together before we graduate."
"I get it," Stacie said. "I want Aubrey to be here, but she went home to North Carolina for Christmas."
"Beca hasn't spent one Christmas Eve with us since she started Barden," Chloe said. "I thought she might decide to spend this one with us. I thought maybe it would be the right time to tell her-" Chloe shook her head. "Never mind."
"You should tell her anyway," Stacie said. "She'll be here in the morning. Give her you as a Christmas present; even she couldn't be oblivious to what you mean by it."
Chloe sighed and said, "I wish it were that easy. I don't want her to reject me."
Chloe sniffled and wiped at a tear. Stacie felt bad for Chloe and what she thought was her unrequited love for Beca. She hated to see anyone cry, and wanted to do something to cheer up Chloe.
"Fat Amy and I had a bet that we could get Beca drunk and have her sing I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas," Stacie blurted out.
Chloe squinted her eyes at Stacie and then let out a laugh. "I would pay to see that!"
"There's the Chloe we all know and love," Stacie said, giving Chloe a side-hug.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Beca strummed the last note of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and everyone started cheering and clapping. She set her guitar down as the little boy next to her, threw himself into her arms. She hugged him, smiling as she thought, "This is what Christmas is all about."
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
"Oh, no," CR said. "Chloe's at the crying drunk stage. Who let her get this wasted?"
"I love her soooooo much," Chloe said through her tears. "She's so bootiful. And hooootttt!"
"Chloe, sweetie," Stacie said, taking the drink out of Chloe's hand. "Let's get you to bed."
"But, I want Becaaaaaa," Chloe whined.
"We know," Stacie said.
Chloe slumped over and was now leaning half-on and half-off Stacie.
"What should we do?" Emily asked.
"I know," Stacie said, giving Chloe a shake. "Chloe. Chloe. CHLOE!"
"Hmm," Chloe mumbled into Stacie's chest.
"Beca's in your room waiting for you," Stacie said.
"Stacie!" Emily cried out. "That's not nice. She's going to think Beca's really waiting for her."
"Beca's my room?" Chloe mumbled.
"Yeah," Stacie said. "Beca's in your room."
"M'kay," Chloe said and tried to stand.
"Emily, help me," Stacie said, holding Chloe up as she also stood.
Emily jumped up and grabbed Chloe on one side while Stacie held her on the other. "We'll take her to her room and put her to bed," Stacie said.
"Wif Beca?" Chloe asked, trying to look at Stacie.
"Yes," Emily said. "With Beca."
Chloe stood a little straighter and tried to walk. Emily and Stacie managed to keep her from falling and got her to her room.
"Beca?" Chloe said as they entered her room.
"She, um, she's in the bathroom," Stacie said. "Let's get you into bed, and she'll be back in a few minutes."
Stacie and Emily managed to change Chloe into a t-shirt and sleep shorts before putting her into the bed. Chloe grabbed her pillow and hugged it to her, mumbling, "Cuddle me, Becs."
Seconds later, Chloe was out like a light, and both brunettes heaved a sigh of relief.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Beca's dad's house was quiet when she finally slipped into bed. She smiled, thinking back over the night and how much fun she had. She fell asleep with a smile on her face.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Christmas Morning at the Mitchells' House
Beca woke and stretched. She pulled out her phone and checked the time; it was just nine o'clock. She got up and dressed and made her way downstairs to find her father, Warren, and stepmother, Sheila, sitting at the kitchen table.
"Merry Christmas," Beca said, as she made her way to the coffee pot.
"Merry Christmas," Warren said. "Did you sleep well?"
"I did," Beca said, smiling as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Are you hungry?" Sheila asked. "I could make you something."
"No, thanks," Beca said. "I promised I'd be back at the Bellas House to have brunch with them. Knowing how they partied, I have about an hour before I have to leave. I have presents for you both, so I thought we could open them now if you'd like."
"We have a few for you as well," Warren said.
"Then let's do this," Beca said and hurried to the living room.
"She's still five years old when it comes to Christmas presents," Warren said, laughing as he and Sheila followed Beca to the living room.
Christmas Morning at the Bellas' House
Jessica, being less drunk than the other Bellas after their Christmas Eve Party, woke up around nine-thirty. She could tell by how quiet it was that none of the other girls were up yet. She decided to stay in her bed, going through YouTube videos until the other girls woke up. She put her earbuds in so as not to wake Ashely, and opened her laptop. She watched a few Christmas videos and came upon another under the heading "recommended for you." It looked interesting, so she clicked it and started watching.
"Oh, my God!" Jessica exclaimed after a few seconds.
Ashley sat straight up in her bed with a hand to her head. "No shouting," she whined.
"Look at this!"
"What is it?" Ashley asked, slowly making her way over to Jessica's bed.
All Jessica could do was stare open-mouthed and point at her laptop screen. Ashley looked over to the screen, and her eyes widened.
"Is that-?" Ashley asked, pulling the earbuds out of the computer so she could hear. "Wait! Is this from last night?"
Jessica nodded her head as they continued to watch the video that was playing.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Beca made it back to the Bellas House around ten-thirty that morning, not expecting anyone to be up yet. She entered the house, softly singing Here Comes Santa Claus.
"Beca Mitchell!"
Beca jumped and turned toward Jessica's voice to find all the Bellas, sitting in the living room in various stages of hangovers. She saw a laptop on the coffee table with several water bottles and pain relievers spread out around it.
Chloe was on the sofa, sitting forward with her head in her hands. Next to her was Stacie, who was leaning back with her head resting on the back of the sofa.
Looking much less hungover than the others were Jessica and Ashely, who took up the rest of the sofa.
CR was hanging over the arm of the chair with a bucket on the floor.
Emily was in the opposite chair and seemed less hungover than the others, but she did look a bit paler than usual.
Flo and Lily were lying on their backs on the floor, groaning and not much else.
Beca took two steps in, gently stepping over Flo and Lily. She stopped and looked around the room.
"I wasn't expecting to see anyone up," Beca said.
"You have some explaining to do, Miss Mitchell," Chloe said, without looking up at Beca. "Oh, God, my head hurts."
"Are you okay, Chlo?" Beca asked.
Stacie was slapping her hand at Chloe, "Be quiet," she whispered.
"They're all hungover," Jessica told Beca.
"Then why are they up already?"
"Because of this," Jessica said, turning her laptop toward Beca and hitting play. "I found it while surfing around YouTube. I had to wake them so they could see it, too."
"Dammit," Beca muttered. "Um, so, it's, um."
Beca stepped closer and hit the button to stop the video. She looked down and saw what the person who posted the video said about it.
"The only thing I know about his young woman is that her name is Beca, and a nurse told me she comes to the hospital every year to bring presents to the children and sing to them. She is truly the embodiment of Santa Claus. My son hasn't smiled like this since he was admitted three months ago."
"Oh, um, interesting," Beca said.
"Is this why you never spend Christmas Eve with us?" Jessica asked.
The rest of the Bellas looked up at Beca to hear her answer.
Beca let out a sigh before breathing out a "Yes."
"We need a little more than that, Becs," Chloe said, sipping some water.
"Why don't I fix you all some eggs and toast," Beca suggested. "Then I'll tell you everything."
"Please don't mention food," CR whined before throwing up in the bucket.
Beca scrunched her nose. Emily slapped a hand across her mouth before jumping up and running toward the bathroom. Soon all the Bellas ran off to be sick.
Beca swallowed and hurried to the kitchen. She let out her breath and pulled out the eggs and bread to make breakfast.
Beca hurried to get the eggs and toast done while listening to the girls make their way back into the living room. Many of them moaning and groaning.
"Do you need some help?" Jessica asked as she entered the kitchen.
"Could you get the paper plates out of the party closet?" Beca asked.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
After breakfast and a few more pain relievers, the Bellas were doing a bit better.
"Anyone else want these eggs?" Fat Amy asked as she reached for the bowl. "No? Cool."
Fat Amy dug into the eggs, and Chloe grimaced as her stomach rolled a bit. She had to look away from Amy. When she did, her eyes fell on Beca.
"So spill it, Mitchell," Chloe said. "Why didn't you tell us you went to the hospital on Christmas Eve to play Santa Claus?"
Beca chewed her lip and looked around at the expectant faces of her sister Bellas.
"I was afraid if you knew what I was doing," Beca said quietly. "You'd want to do it with me."
The girls started speaking at once.
"What's wrong with that?"
"Why wouldn't we want to come with you?"
"It's a nice thing to do."
"We could have given them a Christmas concert."
Beca held up her hands and shook her head. "Stop, please."
The girls quieted down, and Chloe spoke up. "Why didn't you want us to go with you, Becs?"
"My grandmother used to disappear every year on Christmas Eve, without telling anyone where she was going," Beca said. "When I was eleven, my mother was working, and there wasn't anyone to look after me, so Grams took me with her. I didn't know what we were doing at first, but the kids, no matter how sick they were, all lit up when we walked in. It was magical." Chloe smiled at the way Beca's eye lit up when she talked about visiting the hospital with her Grams. "No one else in my family knew about it, and it became our thing. And every Christmas Eve after that, Grams and I would take presents to the hospital for the kids and spend the entire afternoon with them, singing Christmas songs and handing out presents."
Beca cleared her throat and looked down at the table. She played with her fingers before she spoke again.
"My Grams died just before I came to Barden," Beca said. "I decided to keep up the tradition to honor my Grams, so I looked around for a hospital near Campus and went on Christmas Eve. It helps me keep her memory alive. And I swear I could feel her sitting right next to me every time I did it."
Beca sniffled and wiped at the tears in her eyes. Chloe got up and stood by Beca, putting her arms around her.
"It's okay, Becs," Chloe said. "Thank you for sharing that with us."
"That's beautiful, Beca," Emily said, wiping her tears.
"I'm sorry I told everyone about the video, Beca," Jessica said.
"It's okay, Jessica," Beca said. "I'm surprised no one found out before now."
"So, do you think the hospital would mind if we just showed up and walked around singing Christmas songs to the patients?" Fat Amy asked.
The Bellas looked at Amy in surprise before turning to Beca.
"That's a great idea, Beca," Stacie said. "I'm in; who else wants to do it?"
"I"m in," CR said.
The rest of the Bellas agreed.
"What do you say, Beca?" Chloe asked, looking down at her.
"I think they'd love it," Beca said, smiling up at Chloe.
"Let's get dressed," Flo said.
~ Day 21 of 2019's 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~
Much later that night, after having a lovely Christmas dinner and opening presents, the girls sat around talking as It's a Wonderful Life played in the background.
"Hey, Becs," Chloe whispered to Beca. "Can I talk to you in the kitchen?"
"Sure, Chlo," Beca said. "Excuse us. We'll be right back."
The girls ignored them as Beca and Chloe went to the kitchen.
"So, what's-" Beca was cut off as Chloe grabbed the front of Beca's shirt and pulled her into a kiss.
Beca was surprised but fell into the kiss. She continued to kiss Chloe, and when the kiss came to its natural end, Beca muttered, "Merry Christmas to me."
______________________________________________________________
Full Prompt from Tumblr User rejection-isnt-failure: I'd love to read a fic of Chloe (and the Bellas) finding out on Christmas Day, that the reason no one could find Beca anywhere on Christmas Eve wasn't because she was with her dad (like she said), but because she was visiting sick children in different hospitals giving presents to them (something she'd been doing for years)… And they found out through a video someone posted having recorded the whole thing…

Another part. Because why not?
Lena is so happy. The sister Quinn grew up with, so stoic and wandering around without self-esteem or an idea of who she is, has blossomed into someone so carefree. Quinn pokes at her salad while her sister playfully feeds fries to a woman who looks like she shits rainbows and cries diamonds. And if that wasn’t bad enough, she is forced to watch Alex trade quick kisses with a blonde who is one hundred percent high and is wearing a bomber jacket with the word ‘Legends’ stitched into it.
“So, what does that mean?”
The blonde glances up with glassy eyes, “Huh?”
“Legends.” Quinn mumbles. “What does it mean?”
“I’m in a gang.”
Quinn chokes on her salad, “What?”
“Sara,” Alex scoffs as she slams a gentle elbow into her side. “She’s kidding. She’s part of a jujitsu team on campus, they’re kind of a big deal.”
“Hence the Legends.” Sara smirks.
“Wow. Um, that’s cool.” Quinn nods.
Lena shoots her sister a smile, “Alex likes to think her girlfriend is so much better, but Kara is the president of the debate team and she’s the captain of an acappella group.”
“Not the Bellas though.” Kara sighs.
“You’re better off without them.” Sara assures her with a quick shrug. “Without Aubrey, they’re just a bunch of stuck up bitches who think they’re something because they make noises successfully with their mouths.”
“What about Chloe?” Alex teases.
“Chloe is perfect and precious, a gift to this world. No harm will come to her ginger head.” Sara declares. “The rest of them could be on fire and I’d barely bat an eye.”
Alex presses a kiss to Sara’s cheek, “So sweet.”
“Bad blood with these uh Bellas?” Quinn frowns.
“Aubrey was Sara’s best friend and when she left the Bellas kinda changed.” Kara explains. “They got a new captain, and they lost the tradition that Aubrey tried to keep.”
Quinn furrows her brow, “I swear I’ve heard of the Bellas before…”
“Well, they won Nationals.” Lena shrugs.
“No, no. That isn’t it.” Quinn mumbles.
And then it hits her. The colors of Barden plastered on a pink binder. A yellow and blue scarf wrapped around a tiny wrist. The obnoxious ringtone of ‘I Saw The Sign’ filling the air. The pictures plastered on the metal of their lockers. The afternoon where Quinn stumbled over a tiny form crying in the corner over her sister. The familiar voice of someone she wants to forget clouds her head, and she can hear her repeating the same words over and over again.
“Rachel Berry-Mitchell.”
Sara arches an eyebrow, “Their captain’s name is Beca Mitchell.”
“There’s no fucking way.” Quinn growls.
“Hey,” Lena hesitantly begins. “You okay?”
“Just fucking peachy.”
And yet, it’s clear she’s far from it. Because Quinn is cursed, she has been since the moment she had sex out of wedlock. Or at least that’s what her mother led her to believe. She’s cursed, doomed to forever have the worst of luck. And that bad luck brought her downfall right back into the future she is trying to build; that curse dropped the love of her life right in front of her, and once again out of reach.
*
“Emily likes Rachel.”
Beca shudders, “Nope.”
“She totes does. It’s aca-adorable.” Chloe giggles, and she immediately rolls her eyes as Beca gives a loud gag. “Beca, it’s cute. They’d actually make a really cute couple.”
“Legacy isn’t allowed to get anywhere near my sister. I know how relationships work.” Beca scoffs. “First comes dating, then sex, then marriage, and then my sister will be pregnant.”
Chloe tosses her head back with a laugh, “What?”
“Yeah. It’ll happen. Just watch.” Beca grumbles as she glares at her computer screen. “So, Legacy needs to keep a good five feet between herself and my baby sister.”
“Aw, you’re so protective.” Chloe coos.
“Rach and I have been through a lot together.” Beca admits. “Just because our parents got remarried and became a family doesn’t mean everything was a dream. Her dads were a pain in the ass.”
“Yeah?” Chloe frowns.
“They tried to fight for custody of Rachel.” Beca sighs. “Apparently, Shelby was only supposed to be an incubator for Rachel and then she was gonna hand her over to the Berry’s but then they talked it over and it changed. By the time she was three, they were in way over their heads and exhausted.”
Chloe tilts her head, “So, they gave her to Shelby?”
“Yeah. Shelby was having regular scheduled visitations until they switched it up and gave her custody. Once she got older, and tolerable, they wanted her back.” Beca shrugs. “And my dad and stepdrama said fuck no.”
“Stepdrama?” Chloe repeats.
“Like stepmama, but Shelby is like the queen of dramatics so I call her my stepdrama.” Beca explains. “Anyway, Rachel kinda became a toy that kept getting yanked back and forth so I protected her. I took care of her.”
Chloe nudges her shoulder against Beca’s with a smile, “That’s because you’re sweet and loving, whether you want to admit it or not.”
“Whatever. Damn your baby blues for making me spill my guts all the time.” Beca huffs as she extends her headphones. “Check this out.”
Chloe slides the headphones on, “New mix for the Bellas?”
“Nope. It’s a Chloe Beale special.” Beca chirps, and she presses play as soon as Chloe lights up in excitement. “Hope you like it.”
“I always do.”
Beca watches with a half-smile as Chloe nods her head along to the beat, “It isn’t much yet, but I think I’m onto something special.”
“You already are something special.” Chloe giggles as she tugs the headphones down. “It’s good, Beca. Seriously. I love my Chloe Beale specials. I use them when I workout.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, and everything else in between. I like listen to them all the time.” Chloe grins. “You should make a mix for Rachel…”
Beca shakes her head, “Rachel mixes her own stuff.”
“Aca-scuse me? We have two DJ’s in our group? We have been blessed by the aca-Gods.” Chloe declares. “Oh, and maybe Rachel can make Emily a mix. A little TLC mix.”
“Shut up.” Beca orders with a laugh.
“Rachel and Emily sitting in a tree…”
“Seriously? Are you five?”
“...k…”
Beca doesn’t let Chloe finish, she simply tackles her back on the bed. And as her laptop closes and her headphones clatter to the side, she realizes that she doesn’t care. It kinda scares her; she wonders when Chloe Beale became more important to her than music.
Two Weeks Later
Quinn doesn’t see Rachel around campus. It’s not like she’s looking for her...well, technically she is but only so she can confirm her deepest fears. And finally, the confirmation is thrown in her face in the worst way possible. Yes, she sees Rachel but she also sees a tall brunette smiling brightly as she extends half a chocolate chip cookie. From a distance, they look comfortable. Intimate. Safe. Like they’ve known each other forever. Everything Quinn doesn’t want to see. So, Quinn does the logical thing and approaches them.
“Berry.”
The cookie falls from Rachel’s grasp, “Q-Quinn?”
“What an unpleasant surprise this is.” Quinn snaps, and her eyes are quick to snap to the girl beside Rachel. “And who are you?”
“Um...Emily?”
“Is that a question or an answer?” Quinn demands.
“What’s going on over here?”
Quinn flexes her jaw as she turns her head to see a short brunette and a redhead approaching, “Nothing that concerns you, you Keebler elf. How about you and ginger snap take a walk?”
“Dear God.” The brunette breathes out. “Are you okay, dude? You seem to be holding onto a little bit of hostility.”
Rachel stands on shaking legs, “It’s my fault, Becs. I’ll get rid of her.”
“Whoa. No. I know that face.” The woman sneers, and Quinn actually takes a step back when sharp blue eyes cut to her. “Who the fuck are you and what do you want with my sister?”
“Back the hell off, Mitchell.”
“Well, this just got interesting.” The redhead sighs.
Lena appears at Quinn’s side with a scowl, “I’m not even going to bother asking any questions, I’m just going to tell you not to mess with my little sister. Is that clear, Beca?”
“Crystal.” Beca assures her, but Quinn can see the fire that rages in her gaze. “As long as your sister stays the fuck away from mine.”
“That won’t be a problem.” Lena sneers.
“Come on, Rach.”
Quinn watches with a stoic expression as Emily stands and reaches out to Rachel, her expression only falters when Rachel immediately intertwines their fingers. Rachel doesn’t even look at Quinn, her face just sinks in relief as soon as Emily gives her hand a protective squeeze to lead her away. Quinn stops breathing for a second and she has to close her eyes, anything to avoid what she sees in front of her. Beca is the last to part from the confrontation, and she walks backwards until the redhead yanks her along by her ear.
“Who were they?”
“The Bellas.” Lena mumbles. “Welcome to Barden.”

Zoey’s Extraordinary Nephew, a Zoey Clarke/Max Richman Fic
A/N: So I couldn’t get this idea out of my head, and what was supposed to be a quick one-shot has run away from me and is now another multi-chapter fic.
And yes I’m still working on the next chapter of Take a Chance on Me, this plot bunny just wouldn’t leave me alone.
All the characters, except Peter, belong to the wonderful Austin Winsberg. I'm just borrowing them!
Zoey’s Extraordinary Nephew
Max stops by to meet Zoey’s nephew and a much needed conversation is had.
Chapter 1
“He’s so cute.” Zoey said, as David placed her nephew into her arms. “Are you sure he’s yours?” she teasingly asked.
David rolled his eyes, “You’re not funny.”
Zoey stuck her tongue out at him, and snuggled her nephew closer. “Don’t listen to him Peter, Auntie Zoey is hilarious.”
Emily and Maggie glanced at one another and shook their heads at the siblings’ antics.
*knock knock*
Maggie went to answer the door.
“Well hello stranger! Come in, come in!” Maggie said, giving Max a welcoming hug.
“Hey Maggie,” Max returned the hug. "Hope I’m not intruding,” he said holding up a gift bag.
“Just wanted to drop off a gift for the new parents. I can leave it with you and get out of your hair.”
“Nonsense, you’re practically family and they’d love to see you. Come meet the newest Clarke.”
Max followed Maggie into the living room, stopping to say a quick hello to Mitch as he walked by.
David got up from his spot next to Emily. “Hey man good to see you,” he said, clapping Max on the shoulder.
Max grinned and handed David the gift bag, “Wanted to stop by and offer my congratulations.” He bent down to give Emily a hug.
"Is he sleeping somewhere?” Max asked, looking around for the baby.
“Nope! Auntie Zoey has him and isn’t giving him back anytime soon!” he heard a sing-song voice say from behind him.
He turned and couldn’t breathe at the image in front of him. Zoey was holding her nephew in her arms, tickling his little toes and grinning from ear to ear.
She looked so beautiful and natural holding a baby. He felt his heart pound at the thought of her holding her own child…their child.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, “Um, hey Zoey.”
She gestured with her head for him to sit next to her on the sofa.
He looked at the tiny bundle in her arms and smiled.
“So this is the new man in your life?” He joked.
Zoey smiled, tilting her body so that Max could see Peter better.
“Max Richman, meet Peter Mitchell Clarke.“
Zoey’s voice cracked on his middle name as she glanced at her dad seated in his chair.
Max placed his hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring squeeze.
He reached down and held Peter’s tiny hand with his finger and shook it, “Nice to meet you, sir.”
Peter let out a big yawn and snuggled sleepily into Zoey’s arms.
Max laughed, “I have that effect on people.”
Zoey smiled, “Do you want to hold him?”
“Can I?” Max looked across at Emily and David for permission.
“Just make sure to support his head and neck,” David reminded as Zoey placed Peter in his arms.
Peter made a noise of protest at the move, but Max bounced him gently, humming softly until he calmed and fell asleep.
Zoey leaned her head on Max’s shoulder, looking at her nephew with absolute adoration.
Max tried to not think about the last time she had leaned on his shoulder like this.
“He’s so tiny,” Zoey whispered, running her finger gently along Peter’s cheek.
“He is, and adorable,” Max grinned at her. “Are we sure he’s David’s?” He whispered.
Zoey whispered back giggling, “I said the same thing!”
Max laughed, knowing she and David would never outgrow their playful rivalry.
They heard the click of a camera phone and looked up to see Maggie taking a picture of the 3 of them.
“I’ve already become that Grandma with a phone full of baby pictures,” she grinned.
Peter began to fuss, wiggling in Max’s arms.
Emily let out a small sigh. “He’s probably hungry. I’ll take him.”
Zoey stood, taking Peter from Max. She bounced him up and down to ease his fussing as she handed him back to Emily.
She turned to smile at Max and heard soft strains of a piano signaling the beginning of a heart song.
“You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me”
This song was so different from the previous songs he had sung to her.
It was simple, no dancing or gestures, no loud bombastic musical accompaniment.
It was just Max, looking at her in complete awe and adoration as he poured out his heart to her, once again.
Zoey couldn’t stop tears from forming in her eyes as she listened to him.
She needed to talk to him, needed him to understand.
Max finished his song, and looked at Zoey. He noticed the tears in her eyes and realization dawned on his face.
He opened his mouth to say something, but Zoey shook her head. “Later,” she mouthed. He nodded, looking away as she quickly wiped her eyes.
Max cleared his throat, and stood, “I should probably be going.”
“Wait, I’ll go with you,” Zoey said grabbing her purse and jacket.
Maggie hugged them goodbye, making Max promise he’d come by for another visit soon.
“Come on we can share a ride,” Zoey said as they got into the waiting car.
“So you kinda….” Zoey began.
“Sang to you again? Yeah, I figured that was the case, judging by your reaction,” Max sighed, not meeting her eyes.
“Max,” Zoey started to reach for him.
“Can we wait to talk about this?” Max said nodding his head at the driver.
“Oh yeah…sure,” Zoey replied, as they pulled away from the curb and headed towards her apartment.
