Asa and guilt have been VERY prevalent in Part 2 thus far and when I heard Asa and Yoru talking about guilt earlier, I assumed Yoru would use Asa's survivors guilt and guilt over CSM 167 as a way to make some very powerful weapons.
I also thought the strength of a weapon being proportional to the guilt felt about making said weapon was a limitation/adjustment from Asa hosting Yoru, rather than hybridizing like Denji.
But THIS is why the gun and tank weapons are more powerful. Chainsaw man has always been about family and how people use familial bonds for self fulfillment. Yoru killed her own children for the chance to strike Pochita down. Yoru deciding that that slim chance she could win or even turn the battle in her favor is worth the very lives of her children, children who she sees and uses as an extension of herself.
The guilt of such an action is unparalleled.
Even the act of tying motherhood to war, sacrificing your body and life to raise someone and therefore owning said child is GENIUS.
Fujimoto cooked.

I understand the buzz over the new chainsaw man chapter because yeah, it is a big moment, development, deliberately meant to be shocking, etc. But if your reaction is like, genuine upset or disgust, or to be more precise the idea that Fujimoto "shouldn't have gone there" or that he crossed some line or whatever... like, you lost me. What about showing jizz onscreen of all things is any more unfiltered than the rest of the story? Wasn't it obvious from day 1 that something like this was going to happen eventually???? When has Fujimoto ever shied away from the fact that sex is kinda gross and visceral? What about this handjob is any worse than the myriad of times Denji and other characters were being groomed????? Btw I'm asexual.

the fact that Yoru was in control for this entire chapter but seeing Denji’s head and realizing that he’s Chainsaw Man forced Asa back into control. she can’t get away from this, she can’t dissociate, she can’t let someone else control her body—this is an inescapable reality that she has to face as herself. i am writhing and decomposing as we speak

Gifting the chainsaw man girls a plushie of themselves
A/n: I'm still on vacation and wanted to do a smaller post while i'm free so i saw this prompt around and thought it was adorable, I'll probably do it with more fandoms let me know if you wanna see it
Makima
Thinks it's amazing and will treasure it forever, she specific keeps it on a shelf in her office (most of her subordinates are very confused to see it just sitting there around the paperwork)
She will 100% give you a plushie of yourself to repay you
Might ask you for a pochita plushie to replace the real one since she doesn't want it anymore.
"Oh, It's adorable darling you're so talented, how about I make you one of yourself to match?"
Power
She is confused at first and asks what power (lol) you used to make a mini her but quickly grows to love it.
It's soft and cuddly just like meowy whenever you're not near her you can bet she'll be cuddling those two things to fall asleep.
Definitely brags about it to denji and aki. Where are their small and fluffy versions of them uh?
"*gasp* is that an idol of the great power? Very well I will accept this. T-thank you"
Himeno
Thinks it's the cutest thing ever and immediately hugs you and peppers you In kisses as thanks
Will always keep it on her shoulder or in view in general hoping that someone asks her about it so she can start ranting about how wonderful her partner is
You have found her multiple times passed out drunk hugging the plushie and mumbling about how much she loves you
"Oh my God! Is that me? Thanks so much it's soooo cute, well not as cute as the original of course~"
Kobeni higashiyama
An incredibly blushy mess whenever you give her the plushie but thinks it's the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for her.
It kinda becomes a comforter for her. Whenever she's more nervous or sad than usual, she hugs the plushie and thinks of you, and it makes her feel at least a bit better
She feels kinda bad about not giving you anything back so she'll probably save the small amount of money she has to buy you a plushie you like.
"O-oh, that's really cute. w-wait, is that m-me? I love it a lot. Thank you so so much"
Quanxi (and her harem)
You immediately got tackled in a hug by 4 of your girlfriends when you showed them plushies of every one of them, quanxi just looked at hers for a while before smiling and joining the group hug
Might genuinely stab someone if they say anything remotely negative about the plushie
She works hard with her girlfriends to make you a plushie of yourself since they thought it wasn't fair that you were the only one in the relationship without one.
"Eh, it really does look like me, you did an amazing job on the girls too, don't worry I'll keep it close at all times"
Asa mitaka
Genuinely can't fathom that you would put effort into making something so cute of her out of everyone and the fact that you gifted her that makes her fall in love with you even more
Always keeps it with her mostly in her bag at school, similarly to kobeni it helps calm her down whenever she's having a bad day, it's a reminder that there is someone willing to love her this much
Yoru once tried to draw the scars on it to make it a plushie of her (just to mess with asa) but thankfully she took control in time
"Wait, seriously? That's....for me? Wow, i- I don't know what to say. Just thank you so much"
Yoru
Acts like she doesn't care that much but actually thinks it's really cute, asa often wakes up finding herself hugging it, courtesy of yoru not being able to sleep without it and taking over during the night.
Definitely brags to asa about it (not realizing it's technically a plushie of both of them)
Might ask you to add some weapons to the plushie to make it more interesting
"Hm? What's that? a plushie? I guess it does kinda resemble me, thanks it is kinda nice"
Fami
She might seem as indifferent as usual but genuinely loves the gesture and thinks it's adorable
She brings it with her whenever she eats (which is most of the time) she even puts a little bib on it, it's really cute to watch
Feels really bad when she gets it dirty (mostly when she's eating) so she'll try cleaning it even if she has no idea how
"I see, so it's a plushie of me. How cute. Thank you, you did a great job"

hii!!! can u please do dazai chuuya atsushi and fyodor with platonic teen!reader who is basically like asa mitaka from csm (personality and ability wise) thank you!!!!
double edged swords
synopsis - you had quite the unique mix of a personality and ability
includes - atsushi, dazai, chuuya, fyodor - all platonic
warnings - gn!teen!reader, fluff, slight angst, slight mentions of insecurity/social awkwardness, small mention of trust issues, wc - 835
a/n: hii!
atsushi nakajima ★↷
↪you had most likely met atsushi a little while after he had joined the agency. you were a part timer, due to your age, but initially would avoid him as you were never to good with intoducing yourself to people and taking the stance of disliking them the minite you saw them.
↪in spite of this, somehow you two wounded up on missions together therefore involuntarily getting to know eachother a bit better. eventually seeing eachother as some sort of friends. maybe it helped that you were quite fond of cats, although he insists a tiger isn't a cat.
↪atsushi would look out for you, he quickly learnt of your fear of being alone and naturally unsocial behaviour so wanted to make you as comfortable as possible around him. also in the sense of the fact that you were known to be quite clumsy.
↪your ability did terrify him at first, not that it was that bad but it shocked him the first time you turned something into a weapon. although he did eventually find it pretty cool. also was quite impressed by your swordsmanship skills.
osamu dazai ★↷
↪again, you had most likely met dazai through being a part timer at the agency. avoiding him and his eccentric personality, thinking of nothing but how annoying he seemed and refusing to talk to him unless absolutely necessary.
↪but it seemed seeing dazai so oftem triggered your false self-assurance, giving yourself quite the confidence to be more talkative. therefore getting to know eachother a bit. he could very quickly you resembled most of his more hidden personality to a t.
↪from your trust issues and fear of being alone to your negative outlooks, it reminded him painfully of himself. and he knew how that could affect you as you grew up, so he took up the slight bond you two had built to expand upon it and help you.
↪and as bad as he may be at helping, he wanted to try for your sake. perhaps he even started seeing you as a younger sibling, rather than his younger slef.
↪however your ability widely differed with his. he did like your ability as it was quite convenient and useful. he found it quite intriguing how the power of the item you created solely relied on how guilty you felt. but overall did admire it.
chuuya nakahara ★↷
↪in similar fashion, you had met chuuya by being the latest port mafia member. something about seeing you initially reminded him slightly of himself when he was still with the flags. and it still baffled him by the fact that he requested for you to be his subordinate.
↪he had felt a sort of sympathy for you, therefore wanted to ensure that whatever reason you were here at such an age didn't affect you further. especially considering how you always put yourself down, that made him want to help you even more.
↪he practically acted as more of an older sibling than your boss, always looking out for you no matter what.
↪he did think that your ability was very cool, that and your natural skills in weilding a proper sword. he could see that you probably could take care of yourself pretty easily, but considering your records in being quite clumsy, it didn't seem that good of an idea.
fyodor dostoevsky ★↷
↪meeting fyodor was practically shrouded in mystery, barely anyone can remember how you met the man. a popular idea is that kamui had the plan to bring you on as a new doa member, using your ability to help progress in their goals.
↪perhaps you had gravitated more towards him due to your lack of sicial skills, he was naturally quiet aswell making it very low maintenance to be around him. but however you two became closer is still quite the mystery. he found you intresting regardless.
↪especially how altruistic you could be when you went through your phases of falsely self-assuring yourself in times of hardship or boredom. but then he learnt how clumsy you could be, how quiet you were and your negative outlook, these all blurred his perceptions of you.
↪your ability further added to his interest, especially how your guilt upon crearing the weapons could heavily affect how strong they were to be created. he could see why it was useful but at the end of the day, he still hates all abilities.

I was wondering what you think the likelihood is of an actual canon Asa/Denji romantic relationship is? I mean obviously they're building that Asa has feelings for csm/Denji (separately) and Denji has shown passing interest as well. I wonder if it's feasible at all or are they going to be pitched against one another now that Asa's getting seen more in the public eye while Denji is forcibly pushed aside.
Love your blog and enjoy reading your analyzes of the chapters/characters/plot!
Denji and Asa will have a romantic relationship
I'm sorry to answer so late (almost 2 months later) and without justifying my delay, I think it's the right time in view of the last chapters to answer !!! I think Asa and Denji will have a romantic relationship. Before explaining my arguments, I would ask that we all put our personal preferences aside. I'm only interested in Denji and Asa's writing and story arcs. Now that that's been cleared up, let's get down to business.
First of all, I'd like to reiterate a few points about Denji's development and objectives.
In part 1, Denji understood what it meant to be loved properly, the different facets of love, how to protect and pamper a family, just as his response to the antagonist was driven by his love for Makima. It's important not to deny that Denji has become attached to Makima, and the paradoxical aspect of this affection is what made the end of Part 1 so brilliant and memorable.
Firstly, it confirmed that CSM's main theme from the outset was love, and secondly, it proved that Denji's response was extremely sensitive and mature. Instead of locking himself into a cycle of revenge and hatred, he forgave.
But above all from a narrative point of view it's interesting because in the first part, Denji grasped his value as a human being, knew what it was like to be considered and loved by Power and Aki. I've always seen Part 2 as a response to Part 1.
After the character has grasped that he can be loved, Part 2 places within it, consecrating it as the pivotal protagonist: Denji's beloved, Asa Mitaka. Instead of simply mystifying the love interest as a deuteragonist, as many works do, and depriving us of her point of view, Fujimoto places her with equal narrative importance. Which makes sense, since love is a central theme, Denji's love couldn't take a back seat.
All this to say that the very fact that Asa is also the protagonist puts us on the right track. But there's nothing to stop it all being a trap? Just as there's nothing to stop the relationship between the two protagonists opening up to a lovely friendship, is there? From a personal point of view, I'd have found it interesting if Denji had struck up another platonic friendship with a girl, with no undertones.
But that's not what Fujimoto has in mind...
Asa and Denji are written to complement each other. And when I say complementarity, I make it clear that the writing doesn't imply that a relationship between the two of them would solve their internal problems. Their flaws are put to the test by the external scenario.
For example, Asa's lack of trust in others is underlined in her development compared to other characters such as Yuko and Yoshida.
Yuko and Asa had a sincere friendship, although this drifted into moral combat as the young girl wanted to be as beneficial and useful as Chainsaw Man. As for Yoshida, he torments Asa, playing the game of promiscuity in order to create distance between the two of them, motivated as he is by Chainsaw Man. But his aim is not to become like him, but to prevent him from acting to the full.
Whether it's to inhibit Chainsaw Man or to become like him, Chainsaw Man has occupied a place in Asa's relationships with the others. But again, this only serves to underline the extent to which the destinies of the two protagonists are intertwined. Instead of hating Chainsaw Man even more for disrupting her relationships, Asa Mitaka unknowingly experienced his profound kindness.
During the aquarium arc, Denji simply occupied a special place regarding this issue. While the young girl mortified herself about being a good-for-nothing, a loser like Denji, it was he who paradoxically helped her. Firstly, because he'd listened to her explanations, boring though they were, about starfish and the fact that they're edible. What's more, Fami can control those she would have starved, so subconsciously the fact that Denji offered her food saved Asa.
But this is implicit writing, as it doesn't make sense until well afterwards, when Fujimoto spells out the conditions of the famine demon's power. When we read the aquarium arc, the one who finds the solution is Asa. Denji was merely a springboard.
This episode is central because Fujimoto, in developing the relationship between Denji and Asa, also clarifies the way in which he will write it: one will not overshadow the other, and he has not placed Asa as the protagonist so that she is not a pivotal point in the scenario.
But before this good experience, Asa only sees Denji's little flaws, the fact that he's a fan of Chainsaw Man, that he rips off homeless people and even goes so far as to dehumanize him, considering him somewhere between a cat and a criminal. Instead of idealizing Asa as Denji's great savior, she is first presented as a threat to the boy. But this chapter only confirms the future romantic (and tragic) aspect of their relationship.
I'm putting my theory back on the cat, because it's this symbol that heralds a perhaps not-so-pretty ending between the two of them. Fujimoto takes on the characteristics of a Greek tragedy, with a game of identities, intertwined secrets and a series of misunderstandings, with two camps, characters also preventing their relationship (Nayuta and Yoshida). But above all, it's tragic: Denji is somewhere between a cat and a criminal, just as Asa lost her mother while trying to save a cat, just as the first being Denji saves in Part 2 is a cat.
The cat is a figure that links Denji and Asa (the fact that they both saved one, that it is linked to their family (Power and Asa's mother), the metaphor of cat and criminal being what characterizes someone as morally gray as the two of them TO SUM UP their relationship will end in sacrifice. The ultimate proof of love. Isn't it wonderful to have a boy as the protagonist who pursues love, only to die for it? The reverse is just as beautiful: a young girl who closes herself off in solitude finds self-fulfillment in dying for the sake of another.
But back to something happier: Asa is the only one who has a healthy love (or rather, attachment) to Denji. Firstly, because she first faced Denji's and Chainsaw Man's flaws before seeing their good sides.
First, she doesn't project anything onto the boy, and sees him exactly as he is. She experienced his obscenities, his interest in sex that repels her. This was something I'd considered a flaw until now, to be honest; I was afraid that if the two protagonists ended up experiencing intimacy together, it would "save" Asa from her rejection of sex. But I was reassured by Fumiko's development, which parallels that. Fumiko has an unhealthy interest in Denji and is constantly contradictory in her dealings with him.
As I said, chapter 142 sets up a fairly simple idea: no one respects Denji's limits, above all, no one sees him as the teenager, the child he is. With Chainsaw Man, the same thing happens: people, faced with their powerlessness against the demons, project their grief and frustrations onto the machine man, to the point of pushing him to live again and again to kill his loved one, his big brother.
No one hears Chainsaw Man's cries for help
Asa stands out from all this: first, she's the one who wants to save Chainsaw Man
Fumiko already had an idealized image of Denji before she met him, has an ascendancy over age, a manipulative strategy, but beyond these problematic issues she respects no limits, thinks Denji's sexual desires, which do exist (let's not deny it), are watchwords.
She, who considers him a child, doesn't act at all in the spirit of protection that she acclaims.
Asa has the opposite reaction, but purely the opposite. When she meets Denji, she's not at all interested, even distressed. She'll have exactly the same reaction to Chainsaw Man. She doesn't like him, so she has nothing to project onto him. And even her first reaction to him was far from idyllic.
Fumiko's presence is also intended to underline the way she and Asa differ in the way they deal with Denji's limitations.
Asa respects Denji's limits, or rather those he has set as rules dictated by his little sister. But Yoru crosses a boundary by kissing him. Without the desire to justify a non-consensual act, what Yoru is doing is crossing a boundary not set by Denji but by Nayuta, who is trapping her older brother in a certain solitude by wanting to protect him. The control devil is obsessed with a happiness that can only be found in the number of two, which is the common trait that links Makima and Nayuta, although they are not exactly the same entity. The first kiss between Yoru and Denji is then an act of rebellion, rather than Fumiko's constant overstepping of boundaries.
(Again, these are two non-consensual acts, and I'm not justifying them, but they don't have the same narrative function).
But above all, the limits set by Nayuta have another meaning - they're there to consolidate the fact that Denji and Asa's relationship is a romantic tragedy inspired by the ancients, as Shakespiere was. The breaking of rules is a major theme in Romeo and Juliet, especially in the case of Juliet, who must choose between morals and her love, her family destining her for another marriage (symbolized by Nayuta).
But we'll come back to the symbolism of Romeo and Juliet in a moment...
Asa has met the purest version of Denji - whether it's Denji revealing his identity, or his profound kindness at the aquarium - and she's also witnessed the flaws of Chainsaw Man, this perverse monster, not good with words, who not only tried to reassure her, but actively protected her.
In other words, when we see her disturbed by her growing feelings for both Denji and Chainsaw Man, they are more than sincere, for she has seen them both as they were. But above all, she is the first character to love both sides of Denji's identity. Whereas Makima was obsessed with Chainsaw Man or Reze focused on Denji's weaknesses, Asa became attached to both the human and the demon.
Denji's dual identity is central, with the public hunters trying to annihilate Denji's demonic identity while the church relies on it, confusing the boy into having to choose one or the other, while the one who intends to help him unknowingly loves both sides. She likes him doubly. Asa is proof that Denji has to claim his two identities.
Not only is the girl also two, harboring a demon within her just as Denji has fused with a demon, but the way their demons are linked to each other and have a history between them only reinforces the destiny that binds them.
Asa is someone who intellectualizes her emotions to the extreme, so her love is more cerebral than Denji's, who thinks primarily through his senses, having a more instinctive love. Yoru occupies half of Asa's brain, while Pochita replaces Denji's heart, totally in line with this symbolism.
Above all, Yoru is disturbed by Asa's budding feelings, which also affect her. We've seen that Yoru hasn't succeeded in transforming Denji. We all stopped to think that she couldn't transform a hybrid, a demon. Yoru is a knight of the apocalypse and has a natural ascendancy over other demons, just as Fami had the falling devil under her control and Makima had controlled many demons. No, the reason why Yoru can't transform Denji is twofold: she's disturbed by Asa's feelings, which are also her own, and doesn't have the will to make him her weapon; but above all, they're not yet together, and the feeling of belonging to each other hasn't yet been established. It's not certain that Denji will ever become Yoru's weapon, since as soon as their relationship is established, he will symbolically offer her his heart.
In the current arc, Fujimoto places Asa in Denji's initial situation, so as to better parallel them: she becomes the church's new flagship image, her popularity competing directly with Chainsaw Man's. But while the current arc shows us the downside of these parasocial relationships, with Denji completely paralyzed by his existential crises, Asa experiences the opposite.
She who has always felt isolated is finally beginning to be appreciated and loved by the majority. In short, one begins to learn something that the other is just experimenting with. Denji and Asa are two very isolated teenagers who project themselves into the recognition their audience has in them.
What's certain is that Denji's existential crisis doesn't just concern him, insofar as his experiences can serve as a lesson to Asa, that to become a hero is above all to be alone. The church intends to sacrifice innocent people to spur Chainsaw Man into action, a church that Asa now represents. Asa hasn't yet seen this side of the church, so Barem mocks her by presenting her as a naive young girl. However, Asa has the intuition that tragedy will strike, since she has a nightmare of it.
Asa's going to have to go beyond her moral limits, to take the brunt of her own popularity, and even if she intends to save Chainsaw Man as he saved her, I think it's he who's going to help her more, not to eclipse her but as a springboard to push the heroine to save herself.
Denji's development isn't slow, flat, in this arc, it just reaches its conclusion. What's left for him to do to end it all is to prove his love.
Even if it means dying for it.

I know there is a ~fight to the death~ happening as they speak and Falling Devil hits him with the trauma ray which is sorta distracting, but I think it’s no coincidence that Denji doesn’t question her motive to target Asa Mitaka specifically. For one, he’s pretty used to the ones he loves being targets or in danger so I guess it musn’t seem that weird to him. But furthermore, in this chapter we 100% get the explicit confirmation that Denji represses his trauma and avoids thinking about it at all cost.
So to me, what this all points towards is that Denji is actively avoiding even just entertaining the thought that Asa might not be all normal or innocent, perhaps a Reze 2.0. Ignoring Asa’s warnings about staying away from her, immediately writing off Asa/Yoru’s “Denji spinal cord sword”, and now brushing off how Asa is being specifically targeted by a Devil that wants to send her to hell? The boy is in denial.

Four Horsemen Devils in Chainsaw Man
Has anyone ever wondered why the Four Horsemen Devils in Chainsaw Man are female? I've read some articles and posts saying that it's because Fujimoto likes "strong female characters", but that is such a shallow explanation. Actually it's much deeper in meaning.
To start let's look at who/or what the Four Horsemen Devils are. In chapter 84 it is revealed that there are four extremely powerfull devils in the world: Death, Hunger, War and Control.
They take the form of females and call themselves "sisters". Death being the eldest and most powerfull, Famine the second-eldest and War and Control being the youngest. So far in the manga we've seen three of them: Makima/Nayuta (Control), Yoru (War) and Fami (Famine). So the question is: why female?
Death, hunger and war are essentially chaotic in nature - something that ordinary humans have no control over. Death and hunger are natural occurences. War as in conflict is also a natural trait among species. So the three devils Death, Famine, War connect to the chaotic nature of the world. Control is no exeption. If we take the definition of Control, it means to order, limit or rule something or someone. It means putting order on chaos. But if someone controls us, it then means we have no power to determine our lives. Simply put: we descend into chaos. It's a paradox.
But why is chaos represented as feminine then? Chaos is the birthplace of things, so it is often shown as feminine, because feminine is the birthplace of things. It is archetypally associated with birth and creation in the world. With all things that arise out of nature - the most chaotic force. Nature is unpredictable, untamebale in a way. But it is also life. It allows things to be born, to exist in a world.
What's interesting here is the hierarchy of the Four Horsemen Devils in Chainsaw Man. Why is Death the oldest? Why are War and Control the youngest? They appear in the manga in the order of seniority. First the youngest Makima as the Control Devil was introduced in the plot. Then the War Devil in the form of Yoru/Asa Mitaka. Later Famine and we have yet to see Death, the oldest of the four. Well in my understanding of things Control is the youngest because as a concept it is the youngest one. Let's start with Death. The first thing that happens to all living things is birth which automatically means death. It's a natural opposite. The yin and yang. Later to exist we need to feed ourselves. So hunger as a fear comes second. Now that we're fed in order to survive we often must fight for it. War or conflict as a fear is next. Once we win in this battle of survival we so desperetaly want to control it. Control all the aspects of our life. The fear of losing that control or being under control by someone/something is last.
The Four Horsemen Devils in Chainsaw Man represent the cycle of existance and our constant fear of it.

Introducing the Fall Devil as one of the Primal Fears tied this arc and maybe whole part 2 principal themes in one entire concept: the trip and fall into solitude and depresion in the starving desire for food, an allegory for our emotional needs, for connection, home. This chapter unpacked a lot of things and clear the landscape of Asa's modus operandis and psyche a bit more, as well as her dynamic with the rest of the cast incluiding her current motifs: cats and bucky, thematically speaking. Fall Devil supposedly is the first cheff in "cooking" nostradamus' prophecies, a direct request from the residents of hell, to feed hell's devils humans as food. She introduces just a taste, and appetizer like she calls it, of what is coming, and it started heavy on Asa.
In the past I called Yoru unassertive for have chosen such an impractical person for her ends, after all Asa is a very lonely and awkward girl who sucks to establish bonds, but now I kind of regret that statement, because in the recent flashback I did understand why Asa is the way she is and why the story chose her as War Devil's host: because she's self-loaded on guilt. Guilt is the special ingredient to make the perfect weapon, something that War Devil takes with pride. That's how Asa mutilates herself, prefers to sacrifice her belongings and hurt herself instead of other people; she IS the perfect weapon for Yoru to use.
Mitaka prefers cats rather than people, she doesn't know what's right or wrong in how she was willing to kill Denji even tho she knew he didn't deserve it, because her guts in trusting others have betrayed her, like made her choose the wrong person to take care of her cat believing she did the right thing (the cat would feel better with other cats) it didn't end well, and in the aftermath, the punishment fell on Asa for "having more" than her abuser and orphans that lost everything, as if this crime was rightful justice. Sounds familiar? yeah, Denji is his last breath in ch1 though the universe was punishing him for have wanted more, for having dreams of a better life. Here, Asa is punished for have loved more, in fact, the last memento of her mother. Asa invalidates her feelings because acting on them have only made her fall, trip on the most crucial moments, to fail. She fell on top of Bucky killing it, right after she had the epiphany she wanted to be recognized by her classmates. She fell while carrying Yuko from a certain death right after she decided to live by what she feels right. She fell and broke her cellphone right after she wanted to feel useful. She fell for Denji when he gave her attention and a couple of words of praise only to get stoop up in their 2nd date, she fell for Yoshida that easy because she's starving for companionship, and so on. She ends up right where she started, no changes. It's God punishment, it seems, "she better off dead", no way of living is fitting for her, she's too little for such great things as friendship, a boyfriend or family, hell, not even to have a pet.
Ironically, I believe the horsemen sisters and Denji will serve in Asa's proclamation of her own right to live (someone already tried but the narrative didn't want that Yuko). Kiga/Famine comfronts Asa with her needs not only for food, but for human connection, that's why her plan backfired because her and Denji bonded in the aquarium and worked together to escape and save everyone; Asa needs to recognize what she want. Yoru is already a less-friendly-Pochita for Asa, not only for have given her a 2nd chance to live (in a very controlled way) but in the sense to help her to take pride of her own life choices and feel unremorsed to fulfill her needs/dreams; it's ok to fail and trip. And lastly, Denji may help her to slowly open her heart and guide her way throught because, just like him, she's buried in regrets and hunger too.
Denji [wasn't allowed to eat] cake, but went for it anyways and eat it with his bare hands, Asa [didn't bring herself to eat] fish, but at the end she took it in gag and tears.
To conclude this mess I just wrote and my personal thoughts, I love this new approach Fjmt is cooking it just hits right in my alley. Fall devil in her attacks reminds me of Arael from Evangelion, the angel that invades Asuka's mind in showing her his deepest fears to defeat her. YES give me introspection and traumatic flashbacks. As Denji approach the area he will maybe have to face part 1's events in this mental landscape, to revive Aki and Power's deaths again, and if they both fall to hell, there's a chance he will encounter the gun devil and blood devil and worse the situation for him?! let's open some doors then. I have no idea how they will defeat a primal fear devil tho, only Nayuta has the power to send her right back to hell if I have to bet. Anyways this looks promising af, I'm impatiently waiting for fujimoto to open the depression store next week

Our Top 5 Systems In Media
As we all know DID/OSDD rep has never been the best in media. So we figured we'd share our favorite systems in media! This will be characters diagnosed with DID/OSDD or just plural coded. Gotta spread the positivity you know?
Number 5: Venom & Eddie Brock
Marvel Comics / Venom
Venom and Eddie were the reason we started reading comics in the first place! They're an amazing love story. But also an amazing system story. Learning how to share a body and work together. It's self love but also romantic love! And yes it's canonically romantic don't you dare try to deny it. They have like 8 kids bro.
Number 4: Heart, Mind, & Soul
Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium
Now these songs are fire that we have on so so many playlists. As far as we know Chonny isn't plural but still ended up writing a story about human duality that also encompasses plurality quite well. This system feels most relatable to us and how we operate as an OSDD system.
Number 3: Shimada Kayn & Rhaast
League Of Legends / Heartsteel
Specifically we want to mention their Heartsteel versions where it is heavily hinted that Kayn has DID in this universe and Rhaast is an alter. This does a cool thing we like in League where they creatively use magic to code in disabilities in the main universe but then actually keep those disabilities in the more realistic skinlines. Like Aphelios staying mute In Heartsteel for example. We just love the banter Kayn and Rhaast have. And also their part in the song is the best.
Number 2: Asa Mitaka & Yoru
Chainsaw Man
We absolutely love these two! We originally read the manga for Makima but were pleasantly surprised when Denji took a backseat in arc two and Asa and Yoru became the protagonists! The way they both start to care for each other more overtime is very sweet. It's nice seeing them embrace each others' sides a bit more. Asa becomes more confident while Yoru learns compassion. We can't wait until they make it into the anime one day. Even if that's in 20 years at this rate.
Number 1: Marc Spector, Steven Grant, & Jake Lockley
Moon Knight
Specifically we want to talk about show Moon Knight. The comics are fine but we absolutely prefer silly sweet cinnamon roll Steven over Bruce Wayne wannabe. But more importantly the story of DID in Moon Knight is so incredibly important. We actually rewatched it soon after discovering our system. Seeing Marc and Steven learn how to integrate and work together to be Moon Knight is so emotional and powerful. It serves as inspiration and hope that we could achieve that one day. Obviously there's some stuff played up for Hollywood, but for the most part it's a very accurate representation of plurality based on our own experiences and other's we've seen online. Obviously not everyone agrees, but it seems rather well received for the most part!
Edit:
Honorable Mention: Sun, Moon & Eclipse
FNaF
Oh my god! How could we forget Sun, Moon, and Eclipse? The literally "us frfr" characters! Everyone's favorite canonically autistic skrunkly! We've seen some debates on if The Daycare Attendant perpetuates the "evil alter" stereotype. We can certainly agree it's a fine rope to walk, but the way Sun and Moon are written is interesting enough. It's hinted Moon isn't exactly himself at the moment. Moon is also just supposed to play the villain in theatre shows! They're theatre kids, quite fun!

✦ MASTERLIST
The walls were closing in on her, that’s what it felt like.
Her world went dark and all she could feel was her bones turn to ice. She couldn’t move. Her body betrayed her, doing things she would never dream of doing. Ever. One blink and she could see the horrid scene in front of her again.. And again.. And again. She could hear the screams resounding within her own mind, pleas to stop it from happening, from continuing. She felt violated. She felt guilty. She felt so utterly.. Alone.
Asa flinched when she felt your fingers tuck a few stray strands of her hair behind her ear. You caressed her cheek, holding her close to you as she rested her head on your chest. “You’re safe, you don’t need to worry,” you tried to soothe her worries with your soft words. But Asa was still shaken after the whole ordeal, after what Yoru did.
You didn’t expect to find Asa at your door during the wee hours of the morning, but when she showed up with tear stains on her cheeks and wore a terrified expression, you couldn’t just look away from it and turn your back on her. She was someone you were close with and if she needed you, you’d be there for her. You’d told her so after 3 years of the friendship. Asa awakened a passion in you that wasn’t inherently romantic, but it wasn’t strictly platonic either. Asa however, did not mind the emotional intimacy. She quite liked having someone to talk to, someone that made her feel seen.
For her, you were that ‘someone’.
Asa wouldn’t tell you what happened to her that would put her in such a panicked state, but that was fine with you. She would tell you on her own time, you were only glad that she came to you when she needed help. “I’m probably bothering you..” Asa spoke, her voice was drastically different from how it usually was. Her voice sounded worn and was awfully quiet — a stark difference to the calm tone you were used to.
“No, Asa,” You ran your fingers through her long black hair, lightly scratching her scalp in an attempt to comfort her, “I promise you’re not. I told you to come to me if you ever needed me, remember?” Asa only closed her eyes in response, sighing and nuzzling further into your shirt. You smiled warmly, content that she was feeling at least a little better from before. Asa didn’t say anything in response, but she didn’t need to. Her actions almost always spoke for her.
“.. I feel hurt because of..” Asa trailed off, not feeling quite ready to tell you what had happened between her and Denji. “-But I also feel.. Guilty for it..? Am I to blame..?” She seemed to be asking these questions to herself, but you couldn’t help your urge to chime in and tell her that whatever it was, she definitely hadn’t been the cause of it.
“You’re valid in feeling hurt.” Your words were soft. Asa only looked down at her lap. “Asa, I’ve known you since freshman year — you’re not the type of person to do things without reason. Whatever it was that you did, just know that I'd still support you no matter what.” Your words calmed Asa’s fears down. She was afraid of what Denji thought about her, now that Yoru had done what she did. She quite liked having Denji around her and after this, she wondered.. Would they ever be able to go back to how things once were? Surely not..
“I think I messed things up with him..” Asa muttered.
“The annoying blonde kid?” You looked down at her with a half smile.
“Denji.”
“Right, Denji..” You chuckled, “Look, Asa. I may not be a dating expert or whatever — But whatever happened between you two, I believe that you two should talk about it and try to understand one another.” You kept petting her hair, the black strands feeling soft and smooth in between your fingers. “Denji, from what you’ve told me, doesn’t seem like the type of guy to leave you just because you mess up once.”
“If you knew what I did, you wouldn’t be saying that..”
“Even if I did, people have the capacity to grow and learn from their mistakes. If you feel guilty then you probably didn’t mean to do what you did.” you reasoned.
“I really didn’t..” Asa’s eyes began to water up, flashbacks of the incident popping back up in her mind like film strips of an old movie.
“See?” You wiped the tears from her eyes. “You’re not a bad person, Asa.”
She only cried more once you said this, but you didn’t falter. You held her in your arms as if wishing to protect her from anything that could hurt her.
“You’ll be alright, Asa. Maybe not right now.. Maybe not tomorrow, But you’ll be alright. I’m with you, okay?” She looked up at you, tears staining her cheeks again for the nth time tonight. Her eyes seemed hopeless and distressed when she first came to you. But now.. Her eyes had a sliver of hope in them.
“..Okay.”

Can I ask for one headcanon about what Fami, Makima, Asa/Yoru, Power and Quanxi reacting to someone hitting or disrespecting your boyfriend?
Makima, power, quanxi, asa/yoru and fami reacting to you getting disrespected
Makima
She resists the urge to kill the person right there and then to not cause a scene and instead just approaches you
She's smiling the whole time and holding your hand to make you feel safe but to the person who was bothering she just seems creepy and uncanny
If they don't leave and continue harassing you she'll just use her powers and make them leave before asked if you're OK and reminding you that whatever they said wasn't true (she gives you headpats if you're particularly sad)
If they, for some reason, decide to come back, she'll just kill them, she already gave them a warning after all
"Are you alright darling? I saw you looked pretty sad by what that piece of trash said, just remember that I love you ok?
"Don't worry I know thanks makima"
"Don't mention it, it's the least I could do"
Power
Unlike makima, power has absolutely no problem with killing someone in front of you, especially if that someone is insulting you in front of her
She'll just create a blood spear or something and stab them repeatedly to release her anger
But if she's having a good day or if you ask her to, she won't kill them but just kick them down while spouting insults at them
Once she's finished she'll demand praise for defending your honor
"HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT THE GREAT POWER'S GREAT BOYFRIEND, YOU SHOULD BE DEAD FOR YOUR ATTITUDE YOU PATHETIC HUMAN"
"......p-power I think they're unconscious"
"Eh, how disappointing, anyways I think I deserve a little credit for protecting you"
"Thank you power, even if I didn't think you needed to go this far thanks for defending me"
"*blushes* o-of course, the almighty power will always defend you"
Quanxi
Her hand was already on her Dao the moment she heard something negative about you come out of that person's mouth.
She decided against killing them and just joins your conversation, making (not that) veiled threats at their life if they continue insulting you
This woman is intimidating af, so the person will probably leave but if for some reason they don't she'll put her sword at their neck and just say "leave" in her cold and deadly tone (she considered going crossbow form but thought they were too weak)
She'll be more protective of you for the rest of the date (which is saying something) side hugging you whenever someone goes near you
"Y/n....... is this person bothering you?"
"Oh its alright babe I think they were leaving anyway"
"What a shame.....i just sharpened my Dao I was looking forward to using it"
Asa mitaka/yoru
(I assume you wanted them together since you put a slash in them instead of a comma, but let me know if I'm wrong)
That person's fate really depends on who is in control of the body at that moment
Asa doesn't like confrontation so she'll just tell you to ignore them and pull you away (while ignoring yoru screaming in her head to let her out so she can kill them)
Yoru, on the other hand, is much more aggressive. Those insults that person told you are gonna be their last words because she's immediately turning them into a weapon before chuckling at how weak it is and throwing it away (probably killing another person in the process)
If you're sad about it later they will give you hugs and remind you of their love to make you feel better (yoru while blushing intensely)
".......hey girl, let me out this instant"
"No I'm not letting you murder someone today"
"THAT BITCH IS INSULTING MY BOYFRIEND AND YOU'RE LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!?"
"Our boyfriend"
"Whatever. The important thing is that you didn't even tell them anything, do you really love y/n that little?"
"N-no, I love him!"
"......Are you and yoru fighting again?"
"Y-yeah"
Fami
She finishes swallowing whatever she was eating, stands up, goes near their face, and tells the person to leave
Fami can be really intimidating too. She's a tall, emotionless woman with ringed yellow eyes, so most likely the person will leave when she is right in their face
She'll keep silent eye contact until they leave not even blinking once and then coming back to the table continuing to eat like nothing happened
If what the person said really hurt you, she'll bring you to eat ice cream cause she heard it's the food that helps cheer up humans the most
"My boyfriend and i are eating. Leave."
"........."
"Is something wrong y/n?"
"N-no, I just....didn't think you could be that scary"
"I'm an horseman of apocalypse, I kinda have to"
"Yeah that makes sense"
"........I don't scare you do I?"
"Oh no don't worry, absolutely not"
"Hm....good"
