My weird quirk is that whenever I see Cab Calloway sing Minnie the Moocher on The Blue’s Brothers I fucking cry. I love Cab, I love this song and he looks like he’s having so much fun. Like he’s reliving the old days. Like im watching it and im crying right now. I love that little old man singing about a Moocher

Cab Calloway: The Hi-De-Ho King of Swing

From his iconic “Minnie the Moocher” to his trailblazing work as a bandleader and cultural pioneer, Calloway brought energy, humor, and sophistication to the world of swing. His career, which spanned over six…

The thought that started this was
" I feel voiced by Alex Hirsch and animated in the style of a Cab Calloway rotoscope"

Completely missed the submission time frame so it's on me really BUT I think it's a crime that Minnie the Moocher wasn't submitted (as far as I can see) :(
I thought there'd be a little more Cab Calloway, tbh! But it was nice that we got one song of his submitted.

I dreamed there was another verse to Minnie The Moocher, just like how Cab talked about what the king of sweden gave her in her dream there was a verse about what Smokey gave her in reality to juxtapose it

"Folks, here's a story 'bout Minne the Moocher She was a red-hot hoochie-coocher~"
Talk about a jackpot! How often did he find a berry bush flush with fruit that other birds hadn't gone and plucked clean. Feeling joyous, the crow casually hops from branch to branch while plucking berries and tossing them into a little sack he happened to have with him.
Singing made the work more enjoyable.

"She was the roughest, toughest frail But Minnie had a heart as big as a whale~"
A laugh and he flutters to the upper most branches, plucking and swallowing a few of the berries. Oh and they were fresh too! Better than snatching stale popcorn from circus grounds!
"She messed around with a bloke named Smokey She loved him even though he was cocky He took her down to Chinatown and he showed her How to kick the gong around~"

So I was watching one of my favorite movies the other day, The Blues Brothers, and when Cab Calloway sang Minnie the Moocher, this part caught my attention:
She had a dream about the king of Sweden He gave her things, that she was needin' He gave her a home built of gold and steel A diamond car, with the platinum wheels He gave her his townhouse and his racing horses Each meal she ate was a dozen courses She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes She sat around and counted them all a million times
What if it was Bernadotte? After all, it was a dream that Minnie was having so it doesn't have to be historically accurate to the time. (If it's not him, it's one of his descendants though, unless she dreamed of pre-Bernadotte Sweden.) Idk why I thought that was funny.
