Me, holding a knife at a doppelganger of me: NO. WE can’t DO THIS. WE can’t give all our bad characters REASONS for why they do/did the things they do-Sometimes, people are assholes for the sole purpose of being assholes because they’re terrible people.
Me, but cornered by Knife me: ......Minerva made a series of awful terrible mistakes, but to be honest, in Victorian era society, adultery was followed by divorce which would result in a massive loss of property and possession for her since marriage transferred all her possession and property to her husband’s name. And considering how both her parents are dead and she has no skill set, she’d basically be on the streets. Or in a lesser but still not great case scenario she could be committed to an asylum-which disturbingly ‘immoral behavior’ is an acceptable commitment reason, that is fucked up-which would be a death sentence for most people considering the conditions of victorian era society towards the disabled or the feminine were abysmal. So the act of hiding the fact she had two (2) affairs and two (2) resulting children from said affair was her partially trying to preserve herself form even worse situations that could kill her int he long run, she just handled it poorly and made bad choices the way any panicking person would. She could have handled it better and Barnabas wouldn’t have been a traumatized attic child with high level anxiety, agoraphobia and an inability to function socially, Trixie might have had a face and not become a sadistic cultist witch and Asmodeus probably wouldn’t be macking on her husband. She honestly could have passed them off both as Aleksei’s children, but she made mistakes and aren’t we all in the right to forgive mistakes?
Me, angrily throwing my knife into the wall: WHY MUST YOU ALWAYS MAKE SUCH FUCKING COMPELLING ARGUMENTS AGAINST EVERYTHING I DO? I JUST WANT TO MAKE CHARACTERS FOR PEOPLE TO HATE.

I’d like to finally introduce you guys to the Parents of Trixie Ravenhearse and Barnabas Valdstik. Their Mother is Minerva Ravenhearse, a socialite who married into the wealthy hotel mogul, Aleksei Vladstik.
Minerva’s favorite past time is throwing elaborate parties, gossiping and the latest fashions. She’s basically leading her ideal life of being a sort of pampered wife.
Aleksei is very fond of Minerva. He calls her Min and adores her and just wanted to give her the world, but he went and broke her heart, not once, not twice, but three times.
By Cheating on him twice with a Demon named Asmodeus and then keeping her illegitimate children a secret from him.
Asmodeus is where Trixie and Barnabas get their powerful magical blood from. It kinda helps when practicing magic when your biological father is a very powerful demon lord.

I finally did a full body reference for my special little boy, Barnabas.
For those of you who are new here and still don’t know who best boy is:
Barnabas Vladstik is the 23 year old illegitimate son of Minerva Ravenhearse Vladstik and Asmodeus Luxuria, the demonic lord of lust. Relatively timid and introverted, Barnabas spends most of his time hiding away indoors and only rarely ventures outside, spending most of his time working with his sister and the rest of his time reading. He has a great fear of the outside and of strangers, leaving him rather confident and snarky when in his own home, but a completely different person outside of it. He is a very talented summoner and a rather accomplished warlock for his age and he certainly has his father's talents and certain preferences regarding many things. He’s is much nicer and softer spoken than his sister, Trixie.

Some things about Viceroy Ravenhearse about what he did before he became Trixie’s Gramps.
-he was quite the rambunctious young man......like 100 years ago. A sort of ‘try all the things’, a ‘Life is a buffet-grab a plate and dig in’ mentality. He traveled and globe trotted for most of his younger adolescence years.
-He was a collector of sorts. Collected all sorts off things ranging from relics to trinkets to whatever took his interest that weekend. Museums often hired him out to look into places that were supposedly cursed or dangerous.
-Viceroy is actually another name for the Mimic Monarch Butterfly-which is looks very beautiful but is bitter and poisonous to it’s predators.
-He married a young lady during his travels who apparently went by the name ‘Vicereine’. It was frequently stated by neighbors and loved ones that she was a Maraquan Gelert-but were too ashamed at the time to admit their newly made in law a mutant Pheophin. (Thems the times.) He often called her Reiny and loved her dearly
-Viceroy mutated himself as a wedding gift for his new wife and cut ties with his critical family. Which was rather tricky since Morphing potions weren’t even a developed thing yet. To attain the Mutated ‘look’ someone in your family line must have done something very VERY naughty to result in having one of their descendants ‘cursed with ugliness’
-Vicereine and Viceroy essentially started the occult group that they belonged to and gained a rather decent following for such a young group in an area of much bigger and older groups. It started as a sort of ‘mutual interest group’ of historians, mythologists, just curious people of intrigues and it went far from there the more deeper they went and the more legit things they acquired.
-They eventually had Minerva when they were around like....40 or 50, they had her later in life. They kept her distant and removed from their groups behaviors. As far as Minerva knew, her parents just liked to go to strange eccentric parties or hold gatherings that she wasn’t invited to.
-Vicereine and Viceroy didn’t want to force her into their beliefs-rather they wanted her to have the freedom to choose what she wanted. She never really had interest in the parties-as far as Minerva was aware, it was just a lot of boring talking in a language she didn’t understand and everyone wore drab boring clothing.
-Vicereine was never a real fan of Aleksei. She often said that he reminded her of ‘a sad watery eyed dog that looks like it’s been abused one too many times.’ She would have come around to him, but Minerva essentially didn’t want them at her wedding. (The scandal that such a pretty young thing had mutated monstrous parents.)
-The Group expanded, grew bigger and much more powerful over time and made more clear contact. (Essentially trying to talk to the Outer/Elder Gods is like talking thru a lot of radio static and over time they just sort improved their ‘radio skills’) And found the ones they wanted to directly worship in exchange for knowledge and power.
-Vicereine eventually died; as people do when they grow old. You could understand that the group would be very despondent-Viceroy most of all. He never remarried or took interest in finding a new spouse. “I don’t need to replace her. Nobody can take her place.”
-It was a few years after Vicereine died that Minerva popped back up on radar and dumped Trixie on him. Which-although he was very confused why his own blood daughter would do such a rather neglectful thing to her own blood daughter.
