Unicorn: Warriors Eternal - Episode 1
Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the first episode. All signature elements of Genndy's creativity are there.
Tumblr media
Great animation
Anime inspiration but in a good way. No annoying cliches and played-out jokes about long transformations, chibi forms, or overreactions.
It looks like episodes are around 25 minutes. I hope it’s not just episode 1 that’s that long. (Remember when most cartoon shows' episodes weren't 10 minutes long to hold the nonexisting attention span of a TikTok user or a baby?)
Characters can shut the fuck up and let the visuals tell the story, with no winded speeches.
I like the steampunk world.
Now that I sing the series' praises let me share what I think some plot points might arise in the future.
Melinda or somebody else might die. The reason why I specified Melinda is because of the opener at the beginning. You know how these reincarnation and destiny things tropes are. ''Your past self did it that way and it worked. You have to do it the same way or else we lose!'' ''Is there no other way?''  Depending on what the author wants it can go each way. Characters find another way, teaching us nothing is set in stone and that you can carve your own future. Or the tragic and pessimistic lesson that sometimes things can't change and you have to accept it.
Tumblr media
They have problems with their powers. One of the most important factors and things that is emphasized in the show's description is that everything is happening too early and that the characters are too young. So maybe they are too weak and this time won't survive the battle. This seems kinda odd to me because they don't know they're the reincarnations of past heroes. They didn’t have any specific training to prepare them to receive their souls or else they die, they don't need to train to get the hang of their powers. At least that's what the opening implied by showing people immediately knowing how to use their powers. Unless it was just for the sake of visuals and they actually needed to train and get the hang of things.
Tumblr media
Melinda's true love. Again going back to the opening of the series. One of the first things we learn about Melinda and Edred is that they're a couple. The rest of the first episode is basically dedicated to Emma and Winsto's crashed wedding. For a good part of the series the main heroine will struggle between being Emma and Melinda, and having to choose who she really loves. This is probably the scariest part because most of Genndy Tartakovsky's shows didn't really focus on romance and when they did it's a mixed bag. We have Ashi and Jack who’s relationship was rushed just like the whole season. Also, Newton/Octus and Kimmy. They were cute but the show got canceled. Mira and Spear which was fine. Holding my fingers crossed.
youtube
Flashbacks!
I might be wrong but I could swear there is a couple of scenes with the original team we haven't gotten in the first episode. So, maybe we will see the characters have visions/dreams of their past lives. It would've been a waste if we didn't get to see them.

Sri Lankan foreign minister’s ‘safe haven for terrorists’ jibe at Canada, backs India
Sri Lanka foreign minister Ali Sabry and high commissioner to India Milinda Maragoda spoke in support of India amid the ongoing India-Canada row.
Tumblr media
Sri Lankan foreign minister Ali Sabry, reacting to India-Canada diplomatic row, has claimed terrorists have found safe haven in the North American country and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has this way of coming out with outrageous allegations.
Backing India over the matter, Sabry told news agency ANI, “Some of the terrorists have found safe haven in Canada. The Canadian PM has this way of just coming out with some outrageous allegations without any supporting proof. The same thing they did for Sri Lanka, a terrible, total lie about saying that Sri Lanka had a genocide. Everybody knows there was no genocide in our country.”
The Sri Lankan minister added, “The ministry of global affairs has very clearly said that Sri Lanka did not go through a genocide, whereas PM Trudeau as a politician stands up and says that genocide had taken place. That itself is contradictory to each other. That doesn’t help.”
Earlier, outgoing Sri Lankan high commissioner to India Milinda Moragoda claimed that the people of Sri Lanka have suffered due to terrorism and that his country has zero tolerance for terrorism.
On being asked about Canada’s allegations against India, he said, “I think India’s response has been inequitable and also firm and direct. And I think as far as we are concerned, we support India on that. Having said that, also, in my lifetime now, I’m 60 years old, 40 years of my life, we have spent facing various forms of terrorism in Sri Lanka. I have lost many friends, and colleagues to terrorism.
“We have all mean many Sri Lankans have died to terrorism. So, therefore, our position on these matters, I think is very clear because we have endured and we have suffered. And as a country that has gone through that tolerance for terrorism is zero tolerance,” he added.
Ties between India and Canada have been strained after Trudeau on September 18 alleged India’s involvement in the fatal shooting of Khalistan Tiger Force chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
Nijjar, who was a designated terrorist in India, was killed outside a Gurdwara in Canada’s Surrey on June 18. India, however, rejected the allegations, terming them “absurd” and “motivated”.
“We have seen and rejected the statement of the Canadian Prime Minister in their Parliament, as also the statement by their Foreign Minister,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
India also expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a reciprocal move to Canada expelling a senior Indian diplomat in light of the claim of New Delhi’s involvement in the killing of Nijjar.

And the silence was broken.
" Granson ?" "…" "It's really you … ?" "What did you expect Granson ?" "Miracle." "..." "You kidding me …" "Are you really there ?" "I am here, really." "Ana… Did you miss me ?" "Who do you think I'm here for, idiot ?" "Eh, shup up…" "I miss you too, friend."
She had come back.
----------------------
I really think I'll expand on Sheana and Granson's relationship a bit later, but they're really, really, really, really good friends. They found each other when they needed it most.
→ french translation
Tout lui semble si long. Tout semblait être une éternité. Ici, il ne pouvait que regarder la pierre et le nom de Milinda. Parcourir le premier reflet avec la guerrière des ténèbres lui manquait, mais elle avait son monde à sauver.
Et le silence fût rompu.
"Granson ?" "…" "C'est vraiment toi … ?" "Qu'est-ce que tu espérais Granson ?" "Un miracle." "…" "Tu te fout de moi …" "T'es vraiment là ?" "Je suis là, vraiment." "Ana… Je t'ai manqué ?" "Pourquoi penses-tu que je suis là, idiot ?" "Eh, ferme là…" "Tu m'as manqué aussi, mon ami."
Elle était revenue.
----------------------
Je pense vraiment que je développerai la relation entre Sheana et Granson un peu plus tard, mais ce sont vraiment de très très très très bons amis. Ils se sont trouvés l’un l’autre, quand ils en avaient le plus besoin.

The Milindapañha
Tumblr media
“The Milindapañha ("Questions of Milinda") is a text from the Pali Canon that records a dialog between the Buddhist sage Nagasena and Bactrian-Greek King Milinda (Menander).
Composed around the beginning of the Common Era, and of unknown authorship, the Milindapañha is set up as a compilation of questions posed by King Milinda to a revered senior monk named Nagasena. This Milinda has been identified with considerable confidence by scholars as the Greek king Menander of Bactria, in the dominion founded by Alexander the Great, which corresponds with much of present day Afghanistan. Menander's realm thus would have included Gandhara, where Buddhism was flourishing at that time.
What is most interesting about the Milindapañha is that it is the product of the encounter of two great civilizations — Hellenistic Greece and Buddhist India — and is thus of continuing relevance as the wisdom of the East meets the modern Western world. King Milinda poses questions about dilemmas raised by Buddhist philosophy that we might ask today.[1]
In his dialog with the King, the monk Nagasena uses the now famous simile of the chariot to explain the Buddhist concept of the not-self (anatman). Just as the chariot is not one singular independent thing, but it is composed of parts, in the same way, that which we call the "self" (atman) is not a singular independent entity, but it is likewise composed of parts. Just as the chariot comes into being based on mulitple causes and conditions, so does the "self."”

Portrait of Menander I
“King Malinda
Kind Malinda has been identified as the Indo-Greek king Menander I of Bactria, who reigned from Sagala (modern Sialkot, Pakistan).
Menander I
According to the Milindapanha, Milinda/ Menander, indentified as Menander I,[13] embraced the Buddhist faith. He is described as constantly accompanied by a guard of 500 Greek ("Yonaka") soldiers, and two of his counselors are named Demetrius and Antiochus.
In the Milindanpanha, Menander is introduced as the "[k]ing of the city of Sāgala in India, Milinda by name, learned, eloquent, wise, and able". Buddhist tradition relates that, following his discussions with Nāgasena, Menander adopted the Buddhist faith "as long as life shall last"[14] and then handed over his kingdom to his son to retire from the world. It is described that he attained enlightenment afterwards.[14]”
