In occasione della Milano Design Week Vanity Fair inaugura Il Giardino delle Idee, la prima mostra/laboratorio sulla nuova creatività responsabile. Un grande spazio con progetti, start-up, soluzioni e provocazioni per raccogliere il meglio delle idee e delle azioni concrete per costruire un futuro più sostenibile. Un'esperienza attiva per scoprire le innovazioni più interessanti e rivoluzionarie, con il coinvolgimento di alcuni dei protagonisti del cambiamento positivo e propositivo di cui Vanity Fair è amplificatore e promotore. Sotto le arcate del chiostro del Museo Diocesano di Milano, location ricca di storia, tante le ispirazioni, che, attraverso esperienze dirette, coinvolgeranno il pubblico a provare in prima persona come si possa iniziare a progettare il nostro domani in modo più consapevole. A questi laboratori si aggiungono poi anche quelli di Citrus, la società benefit impegnata a valorizzare la frutta e la verdura italiane, e di Greendama, l’e-shop specializzato nei kokedama, le famose perle di muschio giapponesi. Nel Giardino delle Idee si potrà sentire l’ebrezza di un’immersione nel mare grazie a un’installazione dell’artista Yu Lin Humm che per One Ocean Foundation - un progetto di sostenibilità che si impegna ad accelerare le soluzioni ai problemi degli oceani. Ci sarà anche l’occasione di toccare tessuti innovativi, come quelli ottenuti dalle bucce d’arancia di Orange Fiber creati da Enrica Arena, quelli di Piero D’Angelo derivati dalla lavorazione dei muschi e dei licheni o quelli sperimentali dell’olandese Byborre di Borre Akkersdijk. Matteo Ward, l'imprenditore della moda etica e sostenibile, allestirà uno spazio per mostrare la forza del design circolare, alla base anche delle proposte di Capsula Mundi, che ha messo a punto una speciale urna biodegradabile, e del Museo della Merda, che trasforma le deiezioni delle mucche in svariate altre cose, dall’elettricità al vasellame. Ma non c’è futuro se non c’è memoria: gli abiti vintage verranno venduti dall’organizzazione umanitaria Humana People to People Italia, evitando così il loro smaltimento e generando anzi valore per finanziare importanti progetti sociali e ambientali, e Vaia, la start up che non ha dimenticato la terribile tempesta che ha abbattuto migliaia di alberi sulle Dolomiti nel 2018 e con quel che è rimasto di quelle piante realizza speciali amplificatori naturali che non usano elettricità. Per chi volesse approfondire tutti questi temi, la Libreria della Natura, sarà presente con una ricca serie di titoli. Molti i film che saranno proiettati all’interno del nostro «Cinemino» dedicato alla sostenibilità, con cortometraggi, serie e documentari che parlano di isole scomparse, di boschi in montagna, di insetti e storie esemplari. In quei giorni, partiranno dal Chiostro del Museo Diocesano le Urban Tales di IF Experience speciali passeggiate guidate da uno storico dell’arte, alla ricerca di oggetti che custodiscono storie straordinarie, capaci di riportarci indietro nel tempo e farci riscoprire un nuovo umanesimo. Ma non si può parlare di futuro senza coinvolgere chi quel futuro lo abiterà, i giovani ragazzi, studenti e startupper, che si sono immaginati idee e progetti creativi da sviluppare: in centinaia hanno risposto alla call to action di Vanity Fair, un’iniziativa editoriale di scouting che ha messo in luce idee rivoluzionarie qui messe in mostra con foto, disegni e prototipi. I partner di Vanity Fair Il Giardino delle Idee L’evento è inserito all’interno del circuito della Milano Design Week, ed è reso possibile grazie al contributo dei partner: Honda, Main Partner dell’evento, celebrerà il design, l'innovazione e la sostenibilità, presentando in anteprima europea i concept vehicles SUSTAINA-C e Pocket, a cui si aggiungerà l’esposizione dello scooter SH 125i “Vetro”. Un'installazione speciale focalizzata sui benefici che il design di prodotto può trarre dall'utilizzo di materiali che contribuiscono a ridurre le emissioni di Co2 nella produzione dimostrando un possibile approccio alla futura circolarità delle risorse. Visa condurrà il pubblico a sperimentare le emozioni e i valori dei Giochi Olimpici e Paralimpici - di cui l’azienda è Official Payment Technology Partner - e a provare a vincere un viaggio per assistere ad alcune delle competizioni sportive di Parigi 2024. Inoltre sensibilizzerà gli ospiti sul tema della rigenerazione urbana e sull’importanza dell’inclusione nello sport in due talk dedicati. Haier sarà protagonista con la SERIE ID, una gamma di elettrodomestici da incasso che traduce concretamente il concetto di cambiamento e innovazione del brand legato alla smart kitchen, portando nelle case dei consumatori funzioni innovative plasmate sulle loro esigenze. Yves Rocher, fondatore della Cosmétique Végétale® dal 1959, racconterà il mondo dell’Expertise Botanica Haircare attraverso diverse experience, tra cui l’“Hair Diag” - l’analisi del capello -, consulenze dedicate offerte nel corner del brand, e due workshop di natura sensoriale e sostenibile. Eurojersey con The Lycra Company presenterà un’installazione dinamica che misura la memoria elastica dei tessuti stretch raccontando le performance di innovazione di prodotto e di sostenibilità con capi unisex-manifesto ispirati ai simboli dell’Agenda 2030 dell’ONU per lo sviluppo sostenibile. Il mondo delle cucine Euromobil alla Milano Design Week

Il Flagship Store Euromobil, in Corso Monforte 30/3 a Milano, è stato allestito in occasione della settimana del design 2023 con tutte le nuove proposte. Il designer Marc Sadler firma il restyling della cucina SEI e l’architetto Roberto Gobbo la nuova composizione Antis/Lain, insieme al cabinet Folding.

Il Gruppo Euromobil

Design. Innovazione. Tradizione. Famiglia. Quattro parole, quattro costanti per un’azienda che da oltre cinquant’anni non smette mai di alimentare la propria curiosità attraverso una tensione perenne verso il nuovo, verso il futuro. Questo grazie ai tre grandi marchi che la compongono, Euromobil, Zalf e Désirée, e grazie al desiderio di proporre alla propria clientela un’offerta che combini un know-how industriale con la qualità artigianale del made in Italy. Euromobil, tra le prime aziende a produrre cucine componibili, è parte di Gruppo Euromobil ed è nata nel 1972 a Falzé di Piave, in Veneto. Non semplici cucine o elementi di contenimento, l’azienda realizza cucine che ridisegnano gli spazi, li creano, li modificano e li modellano a seconda dell’ambiente che si desidera creare. Il tutto avviene in un contesto in cui i materiali utilizzati e il saper fare vengono messi al primo posto.

La cuicina SEI disegnata da Marc Sadler si rinnova

L’incontro tra Euromobil e Marc Sadler aveva già portato nel 2018 alla nascita della cucina SEI, una cucina che, come il nome suggerisce, è caratterizzata dalla costante del numero sei: “sei come sei millimetri, ovvero lo spessore di piani, fianchi, mensole, accessori...”. La realizzazione di questo progetto, per Marc Sadler, aveva come principale scopo quello di offrire un prodotto semplice e al contempo funzionale, una cucina giovane che potesse lasciare libero sfogo alla creatività e al senso estetico in base alla personalizzazione desiderata.

Le molteplici personalità, uniche e compatibili con ogni gusto, infatti, permettono alla cucina di essere progettata in svariate composizioni, con nuove finiture introdotte e nuovi raffinati colori proposti a seconda delle singole esigenze. In particolare, SEI si presenta con quattro nuove categorie di materiali, come il laccato goffratino opaco, l’innovativo ed esclusivo laccato anodizzato, il legno Castagno sabbiato e l’esclusiva nuova pietra naturale quarzite Palladium Arte matt finish, oltre all’aggiornamento delle finiture Fenix esistenti. Un ventaglio di colorazioni ampliato dell’85% (29 esistenti + 25 nuove), con colori che spaziano dal rosa cipria all’azzurro chiaro. Oltre a queste finiture si aggiungono moduli ed elementi accessori, quali nuove altezze di pensili e colonne ed il nuovissimo piano snack roto traslante. Costanti della cucina restano ad esempio il granito Copacabana, il marmo Ocean Storm e tutti i sistemi di contenimento, quali Sipario, Quinte, Madia e Gap. Marc Sadler nel disegnare SEI ha utilizzato un linguaggio estetico che fa del contrasto e della versatilità il suo punto di forza.

La nuova cucina Antis/Lain di Euromobil

Il direttore artistico di Euromobil, l’architetto Roberto Gobbo, implementa l’offerta dell’azienda con la nuova composizione Antis/Lain, che presenta una commistione di caratteristiche delle due cucine già esistenti. Definite come cucine timeless, senza tempo, pratiche e funzionali, hanno saputo costruire un dialogo costante tra passato e futuro, adattandosi perfettamente ai gusti e alle esigenze di ogni momento. La peculiarità di queste cucine risiede anche nella loro capacità di delineare gli ambienti, attraverso mobili e strutture che assumono le caratteristiche di architetture, per un design che genera spazio.

La struttura, in TSS (Thermo Structured Surface) finitura selce rende questa cucina particolarmente resistente e compatta. Le ante frontali Antis sono in wood caneté nella tonalità brown, una particolare finitura caratterizzata da sezioni orizzontali che vanno a formare gruppi di otto segmenti. Questo particolare conferisce al tatto e alla vista un leggero effetto tridimensionale. Le colonne Lain sono invece costituite dallo speciale materiale TSS Turner, particolarmente resistente e antigraffio, in finitura Sand. I piani della cucina sono in ceramica MDI (Minerals Design Innovation) by Inalco in finitura Iseo Gris bocciardato. Tra questi spicca il nuovo ed innovativo piano top Work a forte spessore sp. 220 mm,. I bordi perimetrali sp 12 mm creano una sorta di cornice alla zona operativa ribassata di 18 mm, per contenere le funzioni di lavaggio a cottura. Le mensole a forte spessore sp. 60 mm sono sempre in gres MDI by Inalco in finitura Iseo Gris bocciardato. Il piano snack scorrevole Fast è in legno wood liscio nella tonalità brown, con guide a scomparsa in alluminio con doppio sistema ammortizzante in apertura e chiusura.

Cabinet Folding di Euromobil

L’azienda introduce anche il Cabinet Folding. Si tratta di un nuovo sistema di contenimento con struttura TSS canetè noce e ante frontali in TSS con finitura calce, disponibile in differenti tonalità. Due materiali innovativi che esprimono al meglio due importanti caratteristiche: matericità e accessibilità. Il piano in ceramica Laminam In-SIDE color terra di Pompei accoglie un piano cottura e un lavello a filo top in acciaio inox satinato. Un sistema di luci LED posizionato sulle mensole, sul cappello e nelle basi interne integra la proposta di questo cabinet. Cabinet Folding ha una struttura che consente di essere una cucina indipendente.

In alternativa, può essere accompagnata da accessori o colonne, capaci di trasformarla in una cucina ancor più fornita. Read the full article

Deals this week: Fossil Group, Metro Retail Stores, Velasca

Fossil Group Inc. and Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW) have agreed to develop and distribute BMW-branded watches and smartwatches worldwide through 2023.

BMW-branded watches and accessories will also be created by Fossil Group and released next year.

Over 4,000 BMW and Fossil Group key retailers around the world will carry the collection.

METRO Retail Stores Group Inc. plans to establish a joint venture (JV) to broaden its product offering.

The Philippines-based department store, hypermarket, and supermarket operator Metro Retail

Security Bank and MUFG Bank recently held a business matchmaking fair for Japanese and Philippine businesses, which the company recently attended.

In a round of funding led by P101 SGR, Velasca has raised €2.5 million ($2.9 million).

Milano Investment Partners and other private investors have also contributed to the funding round.

Italy-based Velasca is a luxury shoe and accessory manufacturer for men.

The funds will be used for the company’s national and international expansion, with an emphasis on improving its Omnichannel model.

Through a series A round, Order Handler has received funding from DCM China.

The subsidizing round has likewise elaborate support from Meituan-Dianping.

“The new academy will strengthen its digitalization efforts in the business and improve the skills of its employees,” DCM China is a venture capital firm, while Order Handler is an e-commerce company.

China is the location of all of the businesses involved in the transaction.

In Surrey, British Columbia (BC), Walmart Canada intends to invest more than $175 million in the construction of a frozen grocery store.

The new 300,000 square foot facility will be built beginning in early 2021. Up to 200 jobs will be created by the facility, which is expected to open in early 2022.

A warehouse technology company and the retailer have also collaborated on the design of a cutting-edge building.

A women’s clothing collection was created by GP & J Baker and Hennes & Mauritz (H&M).

H&M is a Swedish clothing retailer, and GP & J Baker is a UK wallpaper and textile manufacturer.

H&M’s in-house design team created fashionable designs for the new collection of GP & J Baker archival prints, which include the classic Oriental Bird, Blossom, and Hydrangea Bird prints. Beginning on August 2, 2018, it will be available online and in select stores around the world.

Marks and Spencer (M&S) has collaborated with Decoded for the send off of another retail information foundation called M&S Information Institute.

The new academy will strengthen the business’s efforts to digitize and improve employees’ skills.

Through its Data Leadership program, M&S’s leadership team will also learn about new technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Milano, “Budapest Select”: importante progetto espositivo che darà al pubblico un assaggio del design ungherese. Budapest Select, umbrella brand che riunisce il meglio del design ungherese, sbarca ad Alcova, negli spazi del Mattatoio, con un importante progetto espositivo voluto da Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency e curato dal giovane e talentuoso designer Gáspár Bonta. La mostra intende restituire uno spaccato della progettazione contemporanea dell’Ungheria, paese che sempre più si sta posizionando tra i più interessanti nello scenario creativo internazionale. 37 designer che raccontano con le loro collezioni storie che partono da lontano, in cui la tradizione è un elemento imprescindibile della produzione, connotata da tracce significative di artigianalità, contaminazioni con l’arte, e uno spiccato senso di appartenenza al territorio e alla comunità. Budapest Select richiama un design poetico, familiare, molto lontano dalle produzioni di massa e che non vuole dimenticare le proprie radici, ma reinterpretarle con una progettazione dalla forte impronta sperimentale, unita a tecnologia e innovazione espressiva. La tradizione esce dalla sua staticità per divenire strumento dinamico e astratto di rilettura del presente. Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency è una realtà fondata nel 2018 per supportare gli attori del settore della moda e del design ungherese. A questo fine, HFDA organizza ogni anno eventi nazionali, come il principale evento di moda del Paese, Budapest Central European Fashion Week, o la pluripremiata 360 Design Budapest Exhibition. Top Ten Small Spaceships

Welcome back to Pappa Heslop’s Two-Part Spaceship Rundown! I promise never to refer to myself as “Pappa Heslop” again!

Yes, after last week’s ranking of big-ass starships, motherships, and sentient ships from Hell, I'm downsizing. Today we're looking at smaller ships. One-man fighters, dinky UFOs, or even vessels that can carry a limited crew but aren’t, y’know , super-spacious. This one was a bit harder, not just because big ships seem more prevalent, but because I struggled a bit to define the line. Is Starbug big or small? What about Serenity? Or even the Falcon?

Truth be told though the biggest problem I had was Star Wars shaped. Quite frankly I wanted to put about half a dozen SW ships on here. The Naboo fighters, the funny-looking B-Wing, the Razor Crest, Dooku’s solar sailor... Tons! But then it just becomes a Star Wars fest and I wanted to avoid that, so I limited myself to two. Well, three. I cheated.

Anyway, that's it for now. Just get reading.

The Millennium Falcon (Star Wars, 1977): I'm sorry to be so basic but what else could it be? It's a beautiful ship, instantly iconic, a character into itself, but it's also, in a way, every other ship on this list. Ragamuffin cobbled-together working class ship populated by cheeky scoundrels with hearts of gold? That's pretty much everything.

Starbug (Red Dwarf, 1989): I love its filthy industrial interior, how great the set design is for a cramped shuttle that's also a sitcom set. But it's the iconic exterior, the series of growing green bubbles, that wins the spot; part spaceship, part dirty green snowman laying on his side.

Shuttlepods (Star Trek: The Next Generation, 1987): it was a toss-up between this and the Defiant, but I've always loved the minimalist design of the shuttles. Tiny little wedge things with dinky nacelles, like a space hatchback or a piece of cheese. They're just so cute!

Cosmos (The Transformers, 1985): oh Cosmos! I love you so! Making a reappearance after having his alt-mode praised a few weeks ago, he's back with his gorgeous little stumpy UFO design. He's just a beautiful green flying saucer with a round red head and I love him.

X-Wing/TIE Fighter (Star Wars, 1977): once more I cheat but these two are inseparable. Simultaneously conveying the jerry-built nature of the Rebels and the brutalist factory line efficiency of the Empire, they also have truly unique and era-defining quirks (S-foils, ion engines) and fantastic sound design.

The Normandy (Mass Effect, 2007): I love the design of the ship, partly evoking TNG but also – for me – echoing the edges of 80s car design, a vision of the future dreamed up in the past. Maybe I'm alone in that. Anyway, it's really the interior that matters, as you get to run around your own ship, corridors leading to offices and cargo holds, a pilot you can bark orders to. It's totally great.

The *batteries not included aliens (*batteries not included, 1987): do these count as ships if they’re really living beings? Who knows? So was Cosmos, although he could theoretically carry people inside him (steady). Anyway, these are adorable mini-UFOs who tug on our heartstrings and make everyone's lives better. So they count, dammit.

The Benatar (Avengers: Infinity War, 2018): some people prefer the Milano, the Star Lord’s original ship, but not me. I like this one’s design, inside and out, and its massive tiered cockpit that lets everyone see out. Plus it comes with a big mining pod thing that can fly off on its own.

Serenity (Firefly, 2002): another big loveable junker peopled by loveable jerks. Great swan neck style design leading up to the bridge, with massive industrial engines. I feel a bit less affinity for the brand than I used to but it's still a great ship design.

Banshees (Halo: Combat Evolved, 2001): these are right at the bottom only because I'm not 100% certain they’re real space ships. I think they can go into space, but you'd better be in your suit because your arse is sticking out the back end. Still, what a great design; chromium neon people aesthetic, organic curves, tiny wings, pink lasers... Truly beautiful.

Though his projects remain resolutely modern, Davide Macullo has found a path that connects his work to what can be called Architecture (with an upper-case A). He is not an ego-driven giver of new forms, but instead a subtle, sensitive interpreter of needs and desires, some expressed, some more innate. He does not come to his work armed with codes as he puts it, doing his best instead to read the meanings of time and space, in order to make residents feel that they have arrived in a place where feelings mean something, where emotion and beauty still reign.

PROFILE

Davide Macullo (b. Giornico, CH, 1965) is a Swiss architect. His international design studio, Davide Macullo Architects, based in Lugano, Switzerland, was founded in 2000.

The ethos of the studio is one that studio promotes an open and cultural exchange with architects, artists and collaborators coming from different backgrounds. The diverse contributions promote a dialogue between the specificity of the project, the universality of the contexts and the psychology of space. This ‘drawing from context’ encourages and helps sustain a local-meets-global, embracing approach to architecture, spanning from the theoretical to the practical and detail level, to territorial analysis, pedagogy and sustainability in construction.

The work of the studio includes graphic design, branding consulting and custom designed furniture, and spans to the creation of contemporary art collections for clients. They have also recently produced a customized collection of rugs for the new Chenot Palace Weggis, and a large series of Davide’s drawings (280 nr.) is included in its art collection.

In Rossa, Canton Grisons, he is a founding member of the Rossarte foundation which promotes public and private interventions in situ by international artists to influence daily life through contemporary art. The first building is the Swisshouse XXXII (Sinusoïde) created in collaboration with Daniel Buren and Mario Cristiani of Galleria Continua.

Prior to the foundation of his own studio, he was project architect in the atelier of Mario Botta with responsibility for over 200 international projects worldwide (1990-2010).

Recent projects include the newly opened Chenot Palace Weggis Health Wellness Hotel, Switzerland; the headquarters of Jansen AG in Oberriet, Switzerland; Samson Assuta Ashdod University Hospital in Ashdod, Israel; WAP ART Foundation, gallery and residence in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea; a Private Museum in Jeju, South Korea; 5* Hotel and SPA facilities in Greece; the Sino-Swiss centre in Tianjing China; a beachfront villa in Heraklion, Greece; several houses in Switzerland and abroad and urban developments in Albania.

Davide Macullo Architects have received over 55 nominations and awards. They have been shortlisted by Wallpaper for the best building of the year 2018, twice by Archdaily and Archilovers for the best building of the year 2017, Häuser des Jahres 2016 by Calleway at Deutsches Architektur Museum in Frankfurt, for the Exposynergy A Prize, finalists for the Spark Space Awards, nominated in two categories at the World Architecture Awards in Barcelona; shortlisted for the WAN House of the Year Award; shortlisted for an Innovation and Excellence Award by Hise, Slovenia; shortlisted for the European Hotel Design Awards and the Copper in Architecture Awards in London.

They have been awarded the Tecu Award for residential buildings, the international architecture DITEC award, the Luigi Cosenza European Architecture Award, named as one of the ‘world’s most exciting new architects’ by Wallpaper magazine, shortlisted for the Prix d’Architecture de Languedoc-Roussillon and winner at World Architecture Community 20+10+X Awards.

They have exhibited at the Centro de Arte y Comunicación CAYC in La Plata, Argentina, selected as “Architect of the Month” by Archiworld, South Korea and in China the practice has been awarded among others at the Building Industry Environmental Design Medal and the Shenzhen Top Ideas Award for residential design. They have also exhibited at the Hungarian Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Biennale and in several Museums in China their furniture design has been displayed in an itinerant exhibition “beyond architecture”. Davide has also been invited to lecture at various international universities.

Modus Dj e lo chef Manolo Terruzzi, il 28/9 online il video dj set registrato al DVCA di Milano

Lunedì 28 Settembre 2020 è una bella giornata per chi ama la buona musica e la buona cucina. Infatti sarà disponibile sui canali social di Modus Dj (nella foto sulla destra) e sul quelli de il DVCA di Milano (https://dvca.it, via Rovello 18), ristorante già molto conosciuto da chi in città vuol viziarsi un po', un video dj set che mette insieme la musica di Modus Dj e la cucina di Manolo Terruzzi (nella foto sulla sinistra), chef d'eccezione. Non è una collaborazione casuale: Modus Dj è resident in questo spazio e spesso dà il giusto ritmo a dinner show e party esclusivi.

Che musica si sente in questo video, che è proprio lo 'spot' perfetto per un dj con un sound sempre originale... mentre mostra come lavora chi in cucina sta davvero, ogni giorno, da anni? "Lo chef Teruzzi è un grande cultore della techno e della tech house, ha girato il mondo seguendo i migliori esponenti di questo genere, da Carl Cox a Sven Vath, da Nina Kraviz Marco Carola", racconta Modus Dj. "Non potevo stravolgere la mia idea iniziale, cioè proporre soprattutto musica 'funky, groove'...126 bpm perfetti per fare ballare lo chef e i suoi piatti. E a un certo punto ho pure proposto 'Music Is The Answer' di Danny Tenaglia nel remix di Pagano... e ho visto negli occhi dello chef tanti cuoricini, per un ritorno brillante agli anni che furono".

In cucina gli chef sono abituati a comandare, ma per una volta il ritmo è stato quello della musica... "Lo chef si è mosso organizzando i piani di lavoro in base alla sua ispirazione e alla programmazione della giornata, ma i 'tempi' chiaramente venivano dettati dai dischi che via via selezionavo", continua Modus Dj, uno che di cibo ne sa. Eccome. "Ecco una top tre dei miei piatti preferiti, ovviamente tutti da gustare al DVCA. Parto con un primo del Nord, anche se sono pugliese: risotto della riseria di Nori alla milanese con pistilli di zafferano e midollo. Come secondo scelgo un cubo di maialino da latte cotto a bassa temperatura laccato al miele con schiacciata di patate all'extravergine. Per finire, un bicchiere tutto pistacchio tra il dolce e il salato... ditemi voi se non sono una buona forchetta.

Nato una trentina d'anni fa a due passi dal mare in Puglia, Salvatore Modeo al mixer Modus Dj da tempo vive a Milano. E' infatti un professionista della console già piuttosto affermato in città e non solo. Ad esempio, è protagonista in molti degli 'hot spot' milanesi (DVCA, Principe di Savoia, Diana Majestic, Duomo 21, etc), con la sua house, sempre melodica e contaminata dal funky. Soprattutto durante i party esclusivi legati alla diverse Fashion Week, quando milano si riempie di professionisti e vip di tutto il mondo, il sound caldo di Modus fa la differenza. Infatti da sempre predilige tracce in cui gli strumenti sono suonati da veri musicisti. Soprattutto all'ora dell'aperitivo e dopocena, Modus dj fa muovere a tempo un pubblico anche adulto nelle hall di hotel ed in location esclusive. In console ha una tecnica notevole, che qualche volta mostra in video su YouTube, ma il cuore di ogni sua performance resta la musica, non certo lo show. Affascinato dalla musica fin da bambino, Modus Dj ha iniziato ad avvicinarsi prima a una tastiera, con cui riproduceva le melodie delle canzoni. Poi, a soli 9 anni, ha iniziato ad essere affascinato dai vinili e dai cd per diventare dj. Sono arrivati così i primi party e le prime esperienze nelle radio locali pugliesi. Dopo sono arrivate diverse esperienze in giro per l'Italia e pure all'estero, ad esempio alla Winter Music Conference di Miami. Nell'estate 2020 è uscito su Purple Music il suo singolo "Come On and Go With Me", interpretato da Andrea Love.

Chi è Manolo Terruzzi (chef DVCA di Milano) Lo chef Manolo Teruzzi proviene da una famiglia di ristoratori lombardi. Dopo la scuola alberghiera ed alcune esperienze europee tra le più variegate, approda nel 2006 a Milano dove in collaborazione con Rosanna Orlandi, trend setter di fama, apre Pane e Acqua, piccolo ma delizioso ristorante disegnato da Paola Navone. Nel 2006 acquista la Scaletta, di porta Genova, precedentemente condotto dalla indimenticabile Pina Bellini, storico punto di riferimento della ristorazione milanese degli anni 80/90. Dopo un restyling al locale inizialmente progettato da Gianfranco Frattini allievo di Giò Ponti, architetto e designer parte attiva del movimento che diede vita allo sviluppo del made in Italy, riporta ai fasti gastronomici lo storico locale. La Scaletta torna a far parlare tutte le guide tornando a garantire una qualità che nel tempo era poco a poco svanita. Durante la decennale presenza sulla scena della ristorazione milanese nascono le collaborazioni con molte aziende, in diversi ambiti, soprattutto moda e design, favoriti anche dall'ubicazione posta al perimetro della frequentatissima Zona Tortona. Nel luglio del 2016 viene apre nel quadrilatero il temporary Be&at's Restaurant and Bar, interessante interpretazione della cucina milanese in una atmosfera magica, il ristorante ideato dall'architetto Andrea Fogli nel vecchio spazio che fu di Alfio Bocciardi, un altro di quei toscani che fece fortuna a Milano, proprietario anche del Savini e popolare presidente di categoria. A settembre 2018 apre nella bellissima cornice di palazzo Cagnola D V C A restaurant & bar. L'architetto Andra fogli interpreta al meglio gli spazi che una volta furono parte della cancelleria asburgica a Milano. A pochi passi da Brera, piazza duomo e il castello il nuovo ristorante è oggi aperto al pubblico proponendo una cucina di base mediterranea contemporanea, le solide radici italiane e le esperienze gastronomiche maturate hanno consentito, unitamente alla materia prima d'eccellenza, di proporre una cucina giusta e bilanciata, mai banale che hai incontrato i favori della clientela.

#1yrago The EU could give every European the #RightToRepair, but lobbyists will kill it unless we take action!

The European Union is at risk of missing a historic opportunity to bring the right to repair into legislation for the first time.

From Monday 10 December all EU member states will be called to vote on a package of regulations requiring manufacturers to make consumer and industrial products more repairable and energy-efficient in order to be approved in the EU single market.

However, pressure from industry lobbying, especially in key countries with a big manufacturing sector like Germany, Italy and the UK, has severely reduced the repair provisions in the proposed legislation. The latest draft lacks ambition and significantly limits the potential to make repairing appliances easier for all.

Luckily, all is not lost. We (The Restart Project) are urging everyone to support citizen-driven campaigning, which is proving fruitful in some of the key countries opposing the regulation. A German petition promoted by repair activists has created a real stir, garnering over 109,000 signatures and resulting in the Ministry of Environment releasing an action plan stating its full support for repair provisions. And in Italy, a petition demanding that the country stops blocking promising regulation has reached over 76,000 signatures and will be handed over to the Minister of Environment this week by community repair group Restarters Milano. But in the UK a similar petition has been overshadowed by Brexit negotiations. Meanwhile local community repair activists have come up with the Manchester Declaration, calling for more repairable products.

Citizens want longer lasting and easier to repair products and they get frustrated when things break much earlier than they should. There is fresh evidence that people want these changes, and specifically want governments to take an active role, as documented in recently published research by the Green Alliance in the UK and the EU Commission.

Why are these votes so important? For the first time these so-called “ecodesign” regulations take into account a product’s material efficiency over its whole lifecycle, not just the use phase. The new measures acknowledge that a huge amount of a product’s environmental impact comes from manufacturing. This means that being able to repair products is vital to extending their longevity and preventing unnecessary waste. It is estimated that with the new measures in place, by 2030 Europe alone could be saving 140 TWh of energy a year, 5% of its entire energy consumption.

So far attention on right to repair legislation has been mostly concentrated on the United States, with a focus on state-level measures to remove barriers for independent repairers to do their work. Yet it is now at the European Union level that we stand a chance to impact right to repair globally.

While the proposed measures only focus on repairability for appliances such as fridges, washing machines and dishwashers, this create a precedent, strongly increasing the odds that right to repair becomes a central aspect of future regulation for computers, vacuum cleaners and smartphones. Also, these measures are likely to trigger the emergence of similar requirements elsewhere around the world.

What makes a product repairable? In September the EU Commission drafted laws focusing on a few key issues: requiring availability for spare parts for a minimum number of years as well as access to repair information resources and, crucially, improving design to access key components in household appliances. As a result, repairing products could become easier, cheaper and less time-consuming.

This is in line with the demands of the emerging community repair movement, as reflected in initiatives like the Open Repair Alliance's International Repair Day. However, the latest revision of the proposals reflects the language and the demands of the industry, as summarised by a briefing of the European Environmental Board.

For example, rather than providing free access to repair information for all, the regulation could restrict access to registered, professional repairers who pay the manufacturers a fee, thus slamming the door on, among others, the growing movement of community repair initiatives. Also, appliance manufacturers wouldn’t be required to supply spare parts to third parties for the first two years from the introduction of a new model, potentially giving them initial complete control over repairs happening within the warranty period (even when not covered by warranty). Finally, the laudable initial inclusion of design requirements to simplify disassembly of appliances for repair is at risk of being replaced with a focus on effective dismantling for recycling at the end of life.

The ball is now in the member states’ court. Will they show some ambition and push for measures that will benefit all of their citizens, while contributing to creating local repair jobs and reducing the imbalance of power with manufacturers? Or will they bow to industry pressure and miss this rare chance for the European Union to demonstrate that it can lead the way in pushing for better standards for all?

Join us for a conversation with Liverpool Biennial's newly appointed Director Fatoş Üstek and Liverpool Biennial 2020 curator Manuela Moscoso. Liverpool Biennial 2020 starts by looking at the body, and its possible futures, from the inside out. The central anchoring point of these queries is Liverpool: the visible and invisible dynamics of this historic port are taken as portents for the future body. The stomach can be thought of as the port to the gut, a site where the outside environment comes to dock. The stomach, like the heart, is a muscle. It is the place where what we ingest becomes part of our bodies: substances are slowly transformed by muscular mechanics and chemistry. Liverpool’s port is the world ́s first commercial enclosed wet dock; it stands for the movement of physical goods, the transport and separation of bodies, protection, control and connection, as well as incessant exchange of information and knowledge. *Liverpool School of Art & Design, Liverpool John Moores University, Duckinfield Street, Liverpool L3 5RD Fatoş Üstek (b.1980, Turkey) is Director of Liverpool Biennial, jury member for the Turner Prize 2020 and external member of the acquisitions committee for the Arts Council Collection (2018-2020). In 2012 she was appointed co-director of Capacete, a residency programme based in Brazil where she also co-ran the curatorial programme Typewriter. Moscoso has collaborated with CA2M, Di Tella, MAM Medellin, Museo de Rio, RedCat and Fundació Miró among other institutions.
