AngbangWeek 2025 Day 1: Friends

I might actually get all 3 of the fics i have planned for this finished!

The first one is one I had planned for ages, which is a Halbrand and Galadriel being friends and talking about their lost loves story. It is 99% Halbrand's musings, so you get a nice angbang flashback at the beginning. So I can see my baby when I leave this world

summary: Halbrand, newly arrived in Eregion, holds his latest creation and thinks about other times he had something around his neck under much more pleasant circumstances. He talks to Galadriel about the loss of Melkor (not by that name). Rating: M (99% of the story is not sexual at all, and the sex scene is a memory).

Anyway, enjoy! Hopefully I'll see you midweek for another entry that should be mostly smut (silmarillion, utumno era!), and a nice fix-it fic to end the week (that one is actually done!)

Writer's Dream #2 — Midweek Musings & Genre Ghosts

WEDNESDAY. MAY 7th, 2025. (late post. ik)

I didn’t get much writing done today. Nothing new went onto the page, at least. But I did spend time with the story. You ever have those days where you feel the book talking to you even though the cursor stays blinking, empty? That was today.

Today was a very long and interesting day. It's day 2 of 2 of the school week and I already hate it. Instead of drafting, I fell deep into research — not worldbuilding, not lore, not even historical reference points. I was looking for my book's comp. I’ve been thinking a lot about comps for The Arcanum: The Dreamer, and how, exactly, it fits in today’s landscape.

NOW LET'S GET INTO IT...

Lately, I've had Godkiller on my mind. It's a very sharply themed book, written nicely, cool characters and plot, but personally IMO it could go way harder on the religious craziness theme, but I'm still on book one! It blends religion and power and action. It's a fantasy that still feels mythic. That book gives something so good to the reader, I cannot explain it. But it is exactly my type of book. It entertains you so very well. I love it I love it I love it.

That’s the energy I want to give.

HOWEVER, I must add that I do have a serious issue with the current state of Fantasy as a genre. Fantasy, whether it be dark, high, or epic, has been in decline. Not commercially, of course. Fantasy sells millions. But it doesn’t feel like it’s creative anymore. The shelves are full of romantasy now, and there’s nothing wrong with that. People want to escape, to feel swept away by soft enemies and softer kisses. But I miss the books that shook the walls of the world. The ones that made you think and theorize about what's next. It just feels like every fantasy author is writing romance with a fantastical background. It's all just porn now and I sincerely, sincerely hate it with all of my soul. WHY would people run these types of stories up? They're not good! The writing is lackluster and the plots are all the same (like pls wrap up the magical school storyline -- Harry Potter did it ONCE and you can never replicate that). These overused tropes with the independent MC and the morally grey dark-haired man are SO TIRING !!! In fact, it's become so tiring that the original overused tropes (princesses locked away take up their own sword) seem far more interesting and way more original now. That's how bad it is. I'd rather read a story about a Princess who must escape her tower and learn how to fight than read a single chapter of Fourth Wing...

A lot of people may find that opinion bad, but it really doesn't matter. I’m chasing a different star. A lot of real readers have been waiting for a fantasy story as good as GOT or TWoT and I can safely say I am here to deliver.

This story was never meant to follow the trend. It was built for the faithful reader.For the one who wants to go deeper, to lose themselves in prophecy, politics, betrayal, beauty, and something ancient clawing its way back into the light.

Even on days like today I feel closer to that goal.

The Arcanum is slow-burn, high-stakes, far-off fantasy. And I will see it finished. Even if the rest of the world is busy kissing in the rain.

EP20 Pt1 Must Come Down…

SUMMARY: S2 Day 16. The girls are getting curious about life back in the other Villa… It's midweek for our Islanders and finding love in paradise is still proving tricky for some with no-one knowing what's coming around the corner.

NOTE: Most of the Casa Amor scenes with the girls are LITG canon, with just a slight re-write for MC if her loyalty comes in to question. Main Villa scenes with the boys have been added. Some of the dialog is similar to the UK TV series.

Gary and Noah are lounging on the daybeds, the soft morning light casting a warm glow over their relaxed forms as they sip their tea.

Gary’s brow furrows, and he takes a deep breath, his voice coming out in a low, frustrated growl. “What the fuck, man?” he starts, the tension in his tone clear. His gaze is distant, lost in thought as he stares off into the horizon. “My mind is just running wild.” Gary continues, his voice thick with agitation, “Of what could be happening over there?”

Noah takes a slow sip of his tea, nodding sympathetically. “Yeah,” he replies, his tone neutral but attentive, sensing Gary’s turmoil.

“I’ve got my mindset, there’s nothing more I can say on that.” The crane operator shakes his head slightly, as if trying to clear his thoughts. “But the thing is, it's like it always, like, reveals itself, I think. It's just a matter of time kind of thing.” Noah nods in understanding. “For me, mate,” Gary sighed. “Things have just… they’ve been coming into perspective.” He pauses, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “You know, my mind, I can't get Grace out of my head, bro. You know what I mean?”

In the Beach Hut (BH), Gary confesses: “It literally feels like half has been taken and has been thrown away like it’s not there anymore.” His voice falters slightly as he continues, "I am just waiting for her to come back. Cos, I do genuinely miss her.” Gary’s voice becomes thick with longing. “The feelings I have for her are clearly showing to me now. They are very, very strong.”

Villa: Daybeds

“I get it. I feel the same. Like, something is missing.” Noah’s voice carries a note of longing as he looks into the distance.

Gary mused to himself, I really miss the way she smiles. I miss the way she laughs.

🤍 🤍 🤍 Villa: Bedroom

A phone beeps, cutting through the buzz of conversation. Gary, brows furrowed in confusion, looks around. “Whose phone is that?”

Noah frowns. “There's no message. Just a video.” The boys crowd around Noah, their faces a mix of curiosity and concern. They crane their necks as he presses play, eyes glued to the screen.

The video starts with the girls huddled together. Hope’s voice, cheerful and confident, rang out off-screen. "I’ll make a prediction for you girls.  If we get up and go and socialise with the new guys… We’ll totally forget about—"

In the Beach Hut, Chelsea appeared on screen, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “I feel like there is going to be, like, absolute flirting and grafting going on the next couple of days.”

The video cut to Chelsea sitting next to a model-handsome guy, her eyes batting flirtatiously as she leaned in close.  Priya’s voice, filled with playful disbelief, rang out off-screen. “You have nude photos?” 

“I mean, yeah. Model, remember?” The same boy replied with a dazzling smile.

The video cuts to the next clip. Marisol was cuddled up on a lounger 

with a burly, red-bearded bloke, “I’m into guys just like you,”  she beamed, leaning in to share a kiss. Chelsea’s voice played in the background. "Oh, he reminds me of Gary…"

The video cuts to the next clip. Priya straddled a blue-haired boy, her playful smile lighting up her face. The same burly guy from before commented, “Being with someone like Priya will do that to you.” 

Priya, with a sultry tone, said, “I’m like a fine wine. I’ve gotten better with age.”

The video cuts to Grace whispering provocatively in a boy's ear. “I feel all hot and bothered,” she said, her words dripping with sensuality. The dark-haired boy bites his lip, clearly captivated. The video switches to Lottie and the same boy in bed, cuddling.  She cheekily covers them with a white duvet.

The video cuts to the next clip. "Kiss me, hun," Hope said, her tone playful. With a confident smile, she pulled a handsome dark-haired boy in for a kiss. The other islanders began to cheer off camera.

The video cuts to the neon sign that says, ‘Temptation’ in the bedroom. The video ends.
