Misconceptions I had about drivers when I started liking f1 that still make me cringe a bit

♡ Jules Bianchi was brazilian :I don't know why I don't know how but somehow my brain looked at him and decided brazilian, he did looked like a love interest in a telenovela tho.

♡ lewis was brazilian: his own fault he looks like a man whore from Rio and sometimes acts like one as well, but still he is only a honorary brazilian

♡ Michael and mick were the same guy: I am stupid.

♡ Checo and Sergio however two different dudes : again I may be stupid.

♡ carlos was Mexican or at least from latin america: I feel like he does play on this a little tho, I mean I know he is European but he does plays on the Latino spicy thing sometimes

♡ Daniel and lando not white: two whole white boys and I thought they were mixed, Lando do pull an Ariana Grande from time to time but daniel don't but still thought both were at least mixed, they weren't

♡ Marta Garcia brazilian as well same goes for bia: they have very brazilian names

♡Lewis's age: this man confused me so much his age plus the little confusion I had about Michael and mick made me to actually Google his damn age, I thought him max and Charles were in the same age group alonso vettel and Daniel on a older age group and yuki lando and Oscar in the younger age group so he was in the middle, what do you mean he is on the older side, what do you mean senior citizen?

Macau GP 70th Anniversary

YOU. YEAH YOU READING THIS. This is me trying to pursued you to go watch the Macau GP this weekend. This track is historic and legendary. And one of the most fun and dangerous street circuits (imo) with tight corners and varying elevations. It is still the oldest (active) street circuit that still holds F3 (+other races) and isn't part of the F1 World Championship (the other being New Zealand🤝)

Since it’s the 70th anniversary and they are holding two wholeass race weekends with a BANGER entry list this year (full list at the end of the post), so why not take a trip down memory lane and talk about some iconic races and drivers throughout the years. [LONG POST, just saying][Also, surprises underneath]

Macau Grand Prix, Guia Circuit (or Circuito da Guia)—a circuit that spans 6.120km, with different elevations over 30 meters top to bottom (in non-metric terms: 2 small pine trees, or 2 volleyball courts for all non-metric people out there👍). Top speed: 260km/h for an F3 car, which is already a handful. This circuit has had little to no changes since the beginning of its grand opening. While this track serves as a stepping stone for drivers, it remains an independent circuit and race of its own. Though still having an affiliate with the FIA.

Although the first race event began in 1954, they didn’t introduce F3 until 1983. Which they had a strong start for F3 with the likes of Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger, respectively taking first and third place.

A few years later; Eddie Irvine, Damon Hill, Jean Alesi also left their marks on this race track.

But the most iconic moment came in 1990. The battle of Schumacher vs Hakkinen. The beginning of their motor rivalry.

Schumi took first place while Mika unfortunately crashed out at the back of Schumi’s car.

In 2003-2004, both Lewis and Nico took part, whilst Lewis took pole and they both showed great results in qualifying. Neither of them went on to podium in both years.

2005: baby Seb starting to shine through and took third at the main race, just behind Kubica

2009: Daniel, Valtteri, and Jules took the challenge. Jules started near the back end of the grid but was steady racing and finished 10th. Valtteri started 4th, had the opportunity to be on podium until he got a puncture on the last lap that saw him finish fifth. Daniel-not the best start- clipped the wall and punctured his left rear, carried on a little bit more until he crashed out of the race :( can’t find any video cuz apparently no one cared enough about 2009

2011: Valtteri’s third year in a row; the previous got him third place but this one he retired the car on lap 4 due to an accident. Kmag, da Costa, Carlos participated but all in all, half the grid retired in the end.

Bloop! 2014: a wild baby Max appears! Boy had good results in qualifying, placing him third, but in the quali race he lost control and crashed. Main race-7th. Nick Cassidy, Nicki Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alex Palou finished 3rd, 5th, 12th and 16th. Unfortunately, Antonio Fuoco and Estie Bestie retired :(

2015: Everybody’s favourite! Charles Leclerc has entered the ring. Charlie’s aggressive attack led him to second place and on that podium. Giovinazzi-4th, Lance Stroll-8th, Nick Cassidy-12th and following close behind, my boy, Alexander Albon-13th

2016: we see the introduction of George Russell, Landon Norris, Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou and Ticktum (But we’re not gonna talk about him🤭). It was an okay race, António Félix da Costa took first (came 9th in the recent WEC👏) and Nikita crashed.

That year gave us baby Lando and baby George who took his first pole *surprise🎉*

2017: A fucking great racing year, Lando came second due to Habsburg and Sette Câmara crashing out in the final corner. It’s Mick’s first year, though not the best result but did manage to snatch the fastest lap 💨

2018: it was a scary ass race and I remember standing in front of the TV just watching this. Lisboa corner is famously know for a lot of accidents, Sophia Flörsch made contact with another that send her airborne and crashed into the barriers and fractured her vertebrae. Final standing: Mick-5th, Ilott-7th, Schwartzman-9th, Zhou-11th, Vesti-15th

2019: a lot more familiar faces: Richard Verschoor, Jüri Vips (yeah that one), Logan Sargeant, Callum Ilott came back for another year, Liam Lawson with his bestie Yuki Tsunoda, Enzo Fittipaldi, Max Fewtrell🫡, David Schumacher, Felipe Drugovich, Schwartzman’s second attempt and Sophia Flörsch

3 years of absence and we are back! 2023!

This year there’s two whole weekends, from 11-12th November and 16-19th November. And they’ve a banger list of drivers like Bianca Bustamante for F4 and Richard Verschoor taking another stab at it.

Macau F4 race is happening on the 11-12th:

F4 is happening the week after on 16-19th

The FIA is streaming F3 on the YouTube channel (streaming f3 not f4🥲…go watch motor gp too it’s on the same day) but you could probably watch it on other streaming platforms too (you know the ones👀👀)

If you haven’t seen the Macau GP before…give it a go! It’s brilliant!

*side note: if Fernando or Lewis ever retires from f1 and have nothing else to do…I’d like to see them tackle this track (again for Lewis) maybe not f3, maybe something like GT cup or something. It would be verrrry interesting👀

christmas f1 news, rumours and interesting facts i learned

(there is a lot because i missed a few days)

Charles Leclerc got a new car after getting a new haircut (and a new partner at the start of the year and new contract according to rumours)

Williams and Sauber car launch on 5th feb

Verstappen tested some cars for Verstappen.com racing (and yes there was a Ferrari too because everyone is a Ferrari fan as Seb would say)

Horner says their 2024's developed car doesn't look as well as he would like it to be and said they had less time than other teams (I will believe it when I see it)

Steve Nielson resigned from his role as fia sporting director and the rumour has it he was unhappy with the fia leading and the stuck up way issues were dealt with, preventing him from introducing new solutions to improve the sport

Aston Martin's new wind tunnel should be completed in September 2024

Max couldn't rent a Merc car on holidays because he was too young for the insurance lol (allowed from 30 years up)

Until now, teams were allowed to work over christmas but now fia had the teams mandatorily close down the factories for 9 days starting with christmas eve (aka 24th december) just like there is a 14 days long shut down in summer. So in 2024 we will technically have a summer break, a spring break and a chritmas break. But since it's f1, there is a grey area - the factory shut down doesn't go for external suppliers

Merc and MCL car launch on 14th feb (according to rumours)

There is a rumour Valtteri will try to compete in cycling championship alongside f1 in 2024 WHAT.

And speaking of Val, although there were rumours previously that he won't extend his contract and will rather retire, now they say he will try to be a part of audi project

Pourchaire said in an interview that he thinks he could do what Oscar did in the same car in 2023

BILD says that Michael Schumacher was driven around in Merc road car and played f1 sounds for brain simulation with familiar sounds but i'd take this with a grain of salt

Drivers voted top 10 drivers in 2023 among themselves (I think all besides Lewis took part in it), the results are: Ver, Ham, Alo, Nor, Lec (note: drivers can't vote for themselves)

Ferrari fired the 2026 engine with positive results (reminder teams cannot work on 2026 cars from aero point of view and other stuff, they can work on engines tho and reports say General Motors are working on the engine for 2028)

Fred Vasseur also says they are both included closely in the development and are satisfied with the project so far

Mick stays merc reserve driver for 2024 while driving in wec for alpine and they say he will prioritise f1 over wec if he is needed for reserve duties

There were rumours of Newey retiring after his 65th birthday but he denied them

There are rumours about the 2023 season 1B prize pot or more likely how much each team receives (the only interesting things is that the historic bonus ferrari receives every year should be around 50m this year)

Sanz (fia president of senate) says that fia is considering two spanish gps (Madrid and Barcelona) but the rumours are untrue because the responsible authorities didn't even receive the project for approval

Brown proposed f1 could have 28 races calendar with 20 fixed ones and 4 more on top chosen from 8 rotating circuits

TVN estrena, el jueves 10 de agosto, "La Sangre del Camaleón": Una serie histórica llena de intriga y acción.

Inspirada en hechos reales, la ficción está protagonizada por Daniel Alcaíno y se une a los múltiples proyectos de TVN  para la conmemoración de los 50 años del Golpe de Estado en Chile.

Este jueves 10 de agosto, y a un mes de que se cumplan los 50 años del Golpe de Estado en Chile, TVN estrenará, en todas sus plataformas, la serie de ficción histórica  “La Sangre del Camaleón”,  que en cuatro capítulos cuenta la historia de Mario Lara, interpretado por Daniel Alcaíno, un hombre que lleva una peligrosa doble vida en medio de la dictadura militar chilena.

“Esta ficción marca un hito para nosotros,  como canal público, al poner en pantalla la primera serie que se estrena en la televisión chilena con motivo de la conmemoración del Golpe de Estado en Chile. Una historia inspirada en hechos reales, llena de intriga, tensión y suspenso, que cuenta con un destacado elenco y una cuidadosa recreación histórica”,comenta el Director de Programación de TVN, Roberto Cisternas.

En la trama,  Mario Lara, se muestra como un exitoso empresario, dueño de clubes nocturnos y una tienda de electrodomésticos, que se mueve en círculos de farándula y tiene estrechos vínculos con los jerarcas y agentes de inteligencia del régimen militar. Sin embargo, su otra faceta lo muestra como un activo militante del Partido Comunista, comprometido con la causa y ocultando las armas que ha internado el Frente Patriótico para enfrentarse al régimen de Pinochet.

Dirigida por Daniel Uribe y Javier Rebolledo, y  ganadora de los fondos del CNTV, la serie se inspira en hechos reales. Una historia que desarrolla un juego tenso y emocionante en el que Mario Lara se mantiene en constante peligro, luchando por ocultar su verdadera identidad. Pero un pequeño error, inadvertido pero crucial, permite que su mayor perseguidor lo atrape y detenga mientras busca pruebas para inculparlo.

“La Sangre del Camaleón es la primera serie de ficción de Inteligencia Colectiva y es muy emocionante para nosotros compartir este producto a través de las pantallas de TVN, entre otras razones, porque valoramos y creemos en el rol y la relevancia de la TV Pública. Se trata de una serie localizada en el transe histórico que significó la dictadura de Pinochet, pero a diferencia de otras series y películas que abordan este periodo de nuestra historia reciente, La Sangre del Camaleón sorprende en el lenguaje, al establecer un dialogo con las películas de crimen y usar los códigos audiovisuales del Filme Noir, sin perder nunca el contexto de un país gobernado por una dictadura cívico militar. Esta serie se une a los distintos  contenidos de TVN para conmemorar este hito entre las que destacan el programa “Chile 50” que se estrenó en marzo, bajo la conducción de Blanca Lewin;  la serie de ficción “Los mil días de Allende” que estrena en septiembre, mes en que también estrenarán un ciclo de destacadas películas chilenas como “Neruda” este 11 de agosto y posteriormente “No, “Machuca”, “Cabros de mierda”,  el estreno de “1976” y “Dawson, Isla 10”.

El canal público además presentará distinto material informativo,  reportajes y programas especiales con entrevistas a los ex presidentes que prepara el departamento de Prensa; además el documental “En Septiembre canta el gallo” sobre el movimiento musical de la Unidad Popular, un completo especial digital que contendrá archivo histórico y podcast que rememoran este momento que marcó la historia de nuestro país, entre otros contenidos.

Another contestant who represented what Endurance: Tehachapi was all about, Daniela came into the show as a superfan, and provided one of the most compelling arcs across all six seasons.

She had a liking for Michael, and wanted him for a partner. But when Chris won the partner selection and got to select the Purple Team, he put her with Jonathan, messing up the agreed pairing. This shocked her, but her reaction afterwards--taking it in earnest and opening herself up to working with him--honestly made me smile.

The Purple Team was seen as the underdogs due to their small statures, but within a couple of episodes, they won "Raft Pull" (albeit by within five feet!) and had a hold on the game thanks to their alliance with Green. However, they had a major setback with getting automatically sent to Temple after coming in last during a mission, but they bounced back nevertheless.

While Daniela wasn't wrapped up in the intrigues of Tehachapi (she wasn't as close to Green as Jonathan was, as well as not intervening in Hang 5), she still had solid character development through her time on the show. Not only in how she worked with Jonathan, but also how she grew in challenges; the standout was with how she held on in "Circle of Trust" despite complaining about how her hands were "destroyed" throughout (she still lost, but put up a great effort).

One of my friends, @trueblueismycolor, wrote a really good analysis of her on the Endurance Rankdown a few years ago, which I quote partially here:

"she really encompassed what Endurance was all about and she made a connection with the viewers. She was, in a way, one of us in the fact that she was a superfan who got her dream to go on the show. She didn't receive the partner she wanted, but she made up for it with the way she worked with Jonathan...and showing off her perseverance...Overall despite the fact that she didn't get many story lines per se, I feel like E4 would have been really different if she wasn't there.

You could make a case for any of the top three of Tehachapi to win it all. And while I love Erika and am happy for the fact she won, thanks to Daniela and her partnership with Jonathan, Purple winning would've made for a better ending for the season.

They even found that limited WiFi access led to a temporary drop in customers but by introducing new food items and maintaining a focus on quality they brought customers back. Miss Gemarie who manages daily operations and staff training is dedicated to ensuring every cup of coffee meets their high standards never compromising on quality. 8thspresso currently employs six staff members double from its initial team of three and looks to the future with plans to expand by selling coffee beans and opening more branches. The cafe’s welcoming atmosphere attracts a diverse mix of students, board exam takers, young professionals and LGU workers all seeking a space to work, relax or connect. As 8thspresso continues to grow the owners aim to stay true to their commitment to quality and community striving to become a staple in Cagayan de Oro’s coffee scene for years to come.

Founded by Michael Angelo Bustamante a marketing graduate from Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro, Sports Lab began in March 2024 with a clear purpose to provide premium sportswear for leagues and events in CDO with a special focus on basketball and e-sports. The name reflects their passion for sports likening the business process to a laboratory an environment for experimentation and growth. With their workshop based on Nazareth Street, Cagayan de Oro, and their warehouse in Libona, Bukidnon, Sports Lab is committed to producing high-quality sports apparel all meticulously crafted from scratch by their dedicated tailoring team. Starting with a capital of ₱500,000, ₱1 million with equipment Michael faced the challenges of learning the tailoring business from the ground up overcoming obstacles like miscommunication and stress through problem solving and teamwork. With a team of five Sports Lab has earned its reputation by consistently supplying uniforms to leagues and sports enthusiasts growing their client base through partnerships and strong connections in sports communities. Their marketing strategy emphasizes collaborations allowing the brand to expand organically. One of their milestones includes providing gear for different organizations and courts in CDO further solidifying their presence in the local sports scene. Sir Michael sees Sports Lab becoming one of the top sportswear brands in CDO in the coming years with a focus on staying competitive, adapting to trends, and treating employees with fairness. His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? Start from the bottom, stay consistent with your work and always keep up with industry trends.

The Overruns Republik started in 2008 with an initial budget of ₱600,000 to ₱700,000. It operated as a cafe store but soon expanded into selling shoes. It now has three branches one in Pabayo and two in Divisoria with five employees. The business is primarily run by family members. Their marketing strategy includes live selling to attract customers. They struggled to get bank support but as the business grew banks began offering them services. The business allowed the owner June Ryan Duran to acquire both a house and a car. Sir June did not allowed us to take picture with him.

Kirby’s Magic Kanan owned by Kirby De La Cruz, has been serving the food needs of students particularly those from Xavier University since it started in 2006. With an initial investment of ₱200,000 this sole proprietorship began as a family business built with a focus on affordability and convenience. It has expanded to employ seven people offering not just traditional "karenderia" style meals but also food packages and catering services which have been a part of their offerings for almost three years now. Although the peak of their sales happens during lunchtime the business has noticed that students are increasingly gravitating toward food chains and coffee shops making it more challenging to attract regular customers. To address this Kirby’s Magic Kanan has shifted its focus to catering which now generates higher revenue than their dine-in services. Sir Kirby hopes to refine the business and position it as one of the top food stores and karenderias in Cagayan de Oro continuing to build on the legacy his parents started while adjusting to changing market demands.

MACDO Models is a modeling agency was established around 2010 with an initial investment of ₱15,000. The agency offers modeling services and has successfully produced some of the top models in the Philippines and Cagayan de Oro City. One of their major challenges has been the lack of binding contracts, which has led to some models transferring to other agencies. The agency has achieved significant success. Led by Zoey MACDO Models aims to grow and become more well-known throughout Cagayan de Oro City.

During our interview with these diverse entrepreneurs from Cagayan de Oro City, several insights stood out reflecting both the challenges and triumphs of small to medium sized businesses. Across industries whether food service, sportswear, or modeling each business owner highlighted common themes of passion, resilience and a commitment to growth despite market shifts and operational challenges.

8thspresso, the sisters Gemarie and Monique showed how their love for coffee and community allowed them to transform a pop-up into a beloved local cafe. Their challenges particularly around adapting to customer expectations for WiFi and service taught them the importance of listening to their patrons and making thoughtful changes. It was inspiring to hear Miss Gemarie emphasize how doubling their staff from three to six people wasn't just about expansion it was about maintaining quality service,which has always been the core of their business.

Sports Lab, founded by Michael Angelo Bustamante gave us a glimpse into the complexities of entering a competitive niche like sportswear. Michael was candid about the steep learning curve in tailoring and production but his story also highlighted how resourcefulness and networking in the sports community have led to sustained growth. His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to "stay grounded and work their way up" was particularly meaningful as it was a reminder that slow steady progress often outshines rapid but unsustainable success.

Kirby’s Magic Kanan provided an interesting perspective on adapting to shifting market trends. Sir Kirby's journey from a simple "karenderia" to a catering focused business demonstrated the need to stay nimble. His ability to pivot toward catering services in response to students leaning more toward commercial food chains is a testament to his keen sense of market demand and adaptability. It was clear that family values and consistency play a huge role in his success and Kirby’s long term vision remains rooted in growth while respecting his parents’ legacy.

MACDO Models offered an insight into the highly competitive modeling industry where talent retention is one of the biggest challenges. Zoey’s experience showed how success in this field is often fleeting without the necessary legal protections. The agency’s achievements in launching top models demonstrate their talent in spotting potential and nurturing it. The next phase of MACDO’s journey appears to be more structured with Zoey aiming for a stronger foothold both locally and nationally.

Through these conversations it became evident that while each business faced unique hurdles they all shared a common determination to innovate and grow within their respective fields. Whether it was through pivoting business strategies, expanding operations or refining their product offerings these entrepreneurs illustrated that success comes from a mix of persistence, adaptation, and a deep connection with their customer base.
