You held the pregnancy test close to your chest as you felt silent tears stream down your cheeks. You were elated but could this really be happening when things still felt so new between your husband and yourself. After agreeing to the arranged marriage and going through with it, you had primarily been focused on your royal duties having taken the crown when your grandmother had stepped down from the crown six and a half months ago. In that time you had been on so many different royal visits and duties, held council and even passed your first law as monarch. It was all a bit much but this, this was the thing that seemed scariest to you. You knew ideally for the future of the throne and kingdom you’d have to give them an heir, at least one and you had done that but you and Andrew had barely had a chance to discuss that between yourselves. You adored your husband, and loved him more every day but the two of you had only loosely talked about children once or twice before as you knew what it meant for the crown.

“Andrew?” you call out, knowing he was on the other side of the doors

“Yes love?” he queries calling back to you through the door

“Can you come here please?” and you hear the shuffling of feet along the carpet before the door is opened. His head pokes through the door before he slides in and he asks

“What is it, my love?” and you look up at him, the pregnancy test firmly in your grasp behind your back

“What are your thoughts on children? Like how many do you want? Not just for the sake of the crown?” you ask him, he raises an eyebrow confused but answers the question anyway

“I was thinking maybe two or three, at least a boy and a girl, though” he says and you nod staying silent as your hand grips the pregnancy test tightly.

“What brought this about Mia, love?” he queries and you take a trembling breath as you pull the test out from behind your back and show him and his jaw drops

“Are you serious?” he asks as a slow smile spreads across his face

“Yes dear” you whisper and he chuckles as he lifts you in his arms and spins you around.

“I am so happy, my love. This is amazing news” he says as he places a kiss on your forehead and then on your lips.

I rewatched The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (after like 10 years or sth) and this time I actually liked Andrew better for Mia and yes, I am going to elaborate:

He has an actual job, he’s a pilot

He has a PhD

He’s older than her and he’s more stable so he can be a great advisor

He cares about her

He has interests and hobbies, his main characteristic isn’t being pretty

He’s an artist

He’s loyal and true to his promises

I feel like he would gracefully accept his role as a husband and not try to be a king instead

They could travel together

He would provide balance for her

I’m not saying she should have married him at the time, I’m all for her independent rule and the feminist speech.

She should have been crowned as a “bachelorette” queen and rule alone and only when she’s ready for the official relationship she and Andrew could have gotten married after dating and getting to know each other for some time.

The more I watch the Princess Diaries 2, the more I ship Andrew and Mia. I want a sequel where Mia and Andrew build a friendship. Mia comes to depend on Andrew for advice, and he comes to Genovia sometimes to visit her, and he becomes her favorite companion for balls and state events, etc. and of course the media is all over that because "they almost got married you know" but Mia and Andrew laugh it off until one day Mia realizes that Andrew has become the person she depends on the most, and without all the pressure of trying to make things work in 30 days, he's actually very attractive. For his side of things, Andrew has always had feelings for Mia but when she said there was no spark he went along with her because he didn't want to make things any harder for her. Once Mia finally admits to him how she feels, Andrew proposes to her again, they get married, and live happily ever after.

Where's Nicholas, you may ask? I don't know, and I don't care. This is my fanfic and I make the rules 😋

I will never understand Mia choosing anyone other than Andrew in that movie. He's sweet, gorgeous, and everything else the op said and is genuinely a good person. He's the absolute ideal of a man and somehow she chooses the asshole who tried to steal her birthright on his sexist uncle's word? I could never.

I’m thinking about the way that Mia Thermopolis turned down Andrew Jacoby, the considerate, intelligent, talented, thoughtful, attractive photographer in favor of the guy who literally tried to sabotage her. Mia I’m not interested in men but I can guarantee you 99% of people who are would just about cut off their left hand to find a man like Andrew.
