This is VERY true. Like, I understand we see the character from a seemingly 'first person' perspective in the story. But not everyone will go gun-ho when they experience trauma, it can actually bubble up until eventually it does cause them problems.

A big example I can think of is Deku.

He is traumatized from the very first episode, and yet we see him be 'normal' regardless. But he is not reacting normal to the bullying/trauma like he should be, especially or someone his age. He understands people don't always mean bad, even if they act like a 'villain' in a lot of cases. And this (unfortunately) leads to a very toxic way of thinking, he is too sympathetic for his own good and is not selfish in the right ways. The boy literally breaks his bones every other episode, and yet he acts as if it's not that big of a deal because he is the 'chosen one' (and hero society isn't helping with that mindset either).

The only time we finally truly see his trauma actually cause bigger problems for him is during the Villain Hunt/Vigilante Arc. That specific arc is meant to be a reflection of how Izuku not only sees the world (a broken mess he needs to fix), but also himself (this lone vagabond that needs to go it alone because it's somehow his sole responsibility as a 15/16 year old to save an entire nation). And still, we see him (and everyone else) ignore the actual problem in all this - his actual trauma, and how it's become such a toxic mindset that it will inevitably kill him one day.

It makes me wonder if his prototype (Yamikumo) was initially supposed to express more of that trauma from the start, but was changed because it was too 'depressing' for the tone Horikoshi wanted. Makes me think how Izuku would be like if he was actually able to express that stuff much earlier on (or if the Vigilante Arc was actually better than what we got), but it is still very realistic to have a character experience trauma but still have to be 'normal' about it because life just keeps moving on regardless.

"Character doesn't act traumatized"

The flaw with the criticism of "this character isn't acting traumatized, you need to show how this event changed them" is that a lot of people experience EXTREME traumatic events and think it's normal. Their behavior might change in subtle ways, but they mostly just continue with their life.
