Scents and Grief
(Brief scene with Lucanis)
****Dragon Age Veilguard spoilers AHEAD, read at your own peril ****
This scene is prompted by what was not shown of the companions during the Regret Prison. This scene is specific to Lucanis, a romanced Lucanis. My Rook is a nonbinary Crow!Mage!Rook but this scene does not necessarily give any descriptions of Rook, so you can inject your own into the scene if that helps you. This scene is emotional, so if you aren’t necessarily in a good mental space, please be gentle with yourself. There is no self-harm content but it does explore depression and emotional breaking.
Hope you enjoy.
>>>
The stone hallway pressed in, oppressively looming as if it would reflect and embody the raging void of turmoil inside and swallow him whole. He had been standing outside of this threshold for several minutes, not wanting to breach the perimeter and make reality come crashing back. Hesitation held him in place, not wanting to intrude when there was no one inside to grant permission.
That thought stuck and he tried to swallow his pained response. The emotional war and struggle to contain it, stirred his demon for a moment, but Spite was sulking in the recesses of his mind, having expended most of his energy attempting to break free from his friends and hunt down the Betrayer. Spite had raged and seized control of Lucanis almost immediately after Solas had emerged from the Fade; when Rook had not.
Spite hadn’t cared that their found-family was desperate to keep him alive. Neither man, nor demon cared that they could have died in the effort, but at least they would have done something, an attempt to avenge Rook and make Solas bleed for his treachery. Instead, his teammates and friends had turned from their own shock and sadness to restrain the murderous demon and his equally vengeful host and dragged them away from making good on their tirade of threats.
Lucanis shifted his feet, almost as if to avoid the series of memories that played out within his mind.
NOT GONE. That was all that Spite managed to say, the angry pleading in that short sentence spoke volumes.
Lucanis didn’t respond, he couldn’t. Either he had to cling to the hope of that statement, or he had to deny it and speak something into being he had not yet managed to say aloud.
The Lighthouse, perhaps making the decision easier for him, clicked and swung its wood and metal double doors open, exposing the room to his view. The light of the tank danced like specters on the walls in rippling currents, and his heart did a brief stutter as his mind recalled another nightmare from his memories, only to be overcome by the more ready and recent nightmare of Rook’s absence.
He had come to their room, searching for some small comfort, he only wanted to exist where they did, breathe the air that had filled their lungs or be touched by the currents that had caressed their skin. With an unsteady intake of breath, he stepped into the dark room that had served as their rest chamber, looking around for subtle hints that they had only stepped out for a moment. His eyes roamed all over the small displays of their presence and life, seeing their silver halla statue, poisoners kit, and metal looking mirror, but what caught his attention, what he had not expected to see, was a large drawing of wings hanging on the right side wall and an azure Crow mask on the table top below it. They had few belongings, but these were seemingly important enough to decorate their room with. He noted them because they were not simply a drawing and a mask. The artist’s impression was something he had mentioned, whilst in the marketplace with Rook, he had idly noted that the wings depicted did not appropriately illustrate those Spite has conjured. And the mask was familiar from a mission they had handled together. Together, before the gods had started their final gambit, and the cruel mistress, fortune, had turned her back on Rook.
A choked sob rose in his throat, and he realized how foolish he had been to ignore the signs or less than subtle hints of their affection. He had been afraid. Afraid to hope that they truly wanted him - an abomination, a monster. Terrified of the harm, he could do to someone he never wanted to hurt; his savior in more ways than one. He had even stopped their confession, fearing that with the words spoken, the last chance to avoid succumbing to this distracting flood of emotions was gone. And with the truth standing between them, he might not be focused enough. He might miss again because he wasn’t focused on the kill, on fulfilling his contract. He might lose them to that distraction.
Driven forth by an unseen force, or the compulsion of this despondency, he stepped further into the room, unable to care about the mission, unwilling to live in the reality that was so full of loss, guilt and regret, so painfully empty of Rook. Mindlessly, he gazed at the drawings of the wings, an artist’s study, and saw a recent addition to the piece, a soft sketch overlaying the crows wings inked in purple and extending the feathers features to look closer to the manifestation of wings that he and Spite used. He stopped breathing for a moment, seeing the careful detail of the added ink, as if the later artist had paid special attention to the differences between the original and the new subject.
SAW US. WATCHED US. THOUGHT. ABOUT. US. Spite whispered in a gravelly voice that sounded strained and unpracticed.
Lucanis knew he should respond, knew that Spite was also hurting. But he did not dare speak aloud just yet. Though since their agreement in the false Ossuary, they had conversed both in speech and by internal monologue; he could not speak.
Lucanis blinked several times, clearing the persistent collection of moisture from his eye-line, and walked toward the green chaise at the center of the room. There were no pillows or blankets upon the verdant green leather, nor in any visible space in the room. Lucanis knew they shared a predisposition for insomnia, but he knew Rook had managed to sleep some nights. He just wanted…he didn’t know exactly what he wanted…but the idea of laying down wrapped in Rook’s unique scent was all consuming. His eyes scanned the room before resting on the large wardrobe on the rear left side of the room. Surmising that the linens, or at least Rook’s favorite feathered blanket, would be there. As there were no other chests for storage in the room, he approached the wardrobe. Despite years of training and the practice gait of an assassin, Lucanis shuffled from the chaise to the cupboard, his feet leaden and his usual posture bent under the weight of denied happiness and suffused longing. Only slight resistance kept the doors of the wardrobe closed to him before acquiescing and opening, releasing from its depths a cloud of aroma unique to Rook.
CITRUS AND LAVENDER. ROOK. Spite inhaled deeply and pushed forward in Lucanis’ mind, not to assume control, but to partake of the fragrance and the comfort of its presence.
Lucanis leaned, shifting more toward the clothing and belongings in the wardrobe, and breathed deeply as if to inhale only the scent of Rook. He realized that while Spite’s senses were greater than his own, he had far more experience with the subtle difference of sources for smells, and he found that Rook did smell of a citrus, though it was more unique than that; the honey and citrus scent of neroli.
His mind and Spite’s held on that in the moment and consciousness dawned as he realized with some bitter comprehension that it wasn’t coincidence that his answer to Rook’s inquiry about the scent of first kisses would be honey and lavender cream. Why he had not discerned this before he could not say, but it seemed that his mind had given him hints of his affection, even then.
Something in that awareness was too much for his fragile hold on performative normalcy, and the wafer-thin veneer of control that had allowed him to carry on to this point snapped. The burden of his misery forced him down to his knees and he started to release his accumulated grief; stored inside since the Ossuary to now. Cruel pains ravaged him, and the usually collected assassin gave into the depression weighing on his body and mind. With the remaining strength he and Spite could muster, he pulled himself into the cradle of the wardrobe and wrapped their body in Rook’s shadow-colored feather blanket. They watched as the doors of this sanctuary softly closed, surrounded and engulfed by Rook’s scent as the heaviness on their eyes and mind pulled them away to hide from the waking nightmare of loss. Perhaps to find a hint of them in the dreams of the Fade or simply the respite of nothingness save their body cocooned by darkness and Rook.

More Ford Headcanons
Yeah I'm making a part two right now. Why not? These will be more adult-oriented.
Ford is not at all fond of high-pitched noises. Some he tolerates, especially if he has control over them. But most of the time, he'll react by covering his ears and grimacing.
There isn't a recreational drug out there that he has tried at least once. But his most favorites are alcohol, cannabis, hallucinogenics, and amphetamines. Oh wait, caffeine is considered a drug now? In the mainstream sense and not the medicine sense? Okay, well, that's also his favorite too.
He's only done caffeine the most since he came back into Gravity Falls through the portal. But ofc, with the help of Stan and Fiddleford, he's able to drink and ingest weed as much as he'd like! And yet. There is a limit on caffeine? The nerve!
He's only allowed the limits ever since Dipper and Mabel kindly asked him to follow the rules on his intake levels. Mabel used her darling eyes on him. Dipper used his darling eyes AND plenty of research to back up his claim. Curse his love for his grand-niblings.
Ford is, in a sense, trans-human. He's had many more modifications done to him beyond just the metal plate in his head. He heals faster, runs faster, jumps higher, and has more keen senses! Of course, a vigorous exercise routine helps too.
While Ford identifies as part of the asexual and aromantic spectrum, he's not immune to such feelings either, especially the asexual part. But he's unsure if it's the person's characteristics that are sexually appealing or if the sex alone is and they just happened to be good-looking. But romance is another story.
He has felt romantic feelings towards Bill and Jheselbraum. Fiddleford too, in retrospect. But if you ask him, a queer-platonic relationship sounds much more appealing and emotionally deeper. He has yet to deduce why.
He is polyamourous too! Somewhat. Well, it takes a lot of trust and he'd prefer to deeply know the other persons involved as well. But he isn't opposed to his partner sleeping with another being, so long as Ford is aware of their location, the exits, their current defenses, the stranger's weaknesses, their immunities and defenses and and and. Okay, he's not opposed to it due to jealousy and lack of trust. He's opposed to it because he cannot risk anything bad happen to his beloveds.
That being said... STD transmission is a thing. He might also be opposed to it due to health and hygiene purposes. Unless. He could craft a rapid-testing kit that his beloveds could take with them wherever they go if they feel the urge to sleep with another being.
If his partner(s) have a habit of sleeping with other folks though... it could cause some insecurities. Communication is an absolute must at this point. But depending on the relationship and other variables, you might not hear about said insecurities. So much for communication... (Stan is probably yelling at him for it)
Sometimes, he'll avoid communication to avoid arguments. Expect a lot of serious talks during the earlier parts of your relationship, especially if Ford feels it becoming more intimate and serious. He wants to avoid conflict as much as possible.
He loves absurd memes. The internet, while it did take a while to learn due to its rapid growth, is oddly fun and a host of many research articles! Thanks to Fiddleford, he's learned to bypass many security walls and such, so he's able to access all sorts of articles without having to subscribe or pay for them!
But also. Memes. He loves them. What, you don't think an old man from the 60s and 70s who has done many different drugs and has studied anomalies and has been to a shitty college and has traveled the multiverse would be weirded out by internet humor? My dear, he thrives in it! Hell, he's learned quickly how to make them and posts them regularly. He's pretty amused by how his followers believe that some of them are just absurd jokes and not events he's actually experienced. One day, he'll reveal the truth. But he has to figure out how.
Speaking of, he and Fiddleford has been working with the people of Gravity Falls on how to prevent another apocalypse and, with the consent of the anomalies, how to research the unique flora and fauna and strange happenings in this part of Oregon.
He, Stan, and Fiddleford now all live together in Fidds new estate! The extra rooms have been turned either into guest rooms, entertainment rooms, or academic archives. AND THERE IS STILL MORE ROOM?? Fiddleford, you've truly succeeded! Ford is not only extremely happy with his friend's fortune, but he's also grateful that he gets to share it with him.
Of course, Ford loves his alone time. All the more reason why he appreciates living in a mansion with his beloveds instead of a cramped cabin (seriously, that thing is massive! And yet, it's still too small for such a large and outgoing family). It is a bit too big, though. Hell, it's not a mansion. It's a palace! He's discussed with Fidds about it, leading to a map in every room and hall (with a little "You are here" dot in each one) and a PA system next to it. With some extra work, magic, and rummaging through the alien ship, there is now quick travel throughout the estate as well! Just... hold on to the railing while you're at it. And your stomach.

For anyone who buys Lunchables (or anything similar), they found high levels of lead, cadmium, and sodium in them.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Consumer Reports called on the Department of Agriculture today to remove Lunchables food kits from the National School Lunch Program. CR recently compared the nutritional profiles of two Lunchable kits served in schools and found they have even higher levels of sodium than the kits consumers can buy in the store. CR also tested 12 store-bought versions of Lunchables and similar kits and found several contained relatively high levels of lead and cadmium. All but one also tested positive for phthalates, chemicals found in plastic that have been linked to reproductive problems, diabetes, and certain cancers.
“Lunchables are not a healthy option for kids and shouldn’t be allowed on the menu as part of the National School Lunch Program,” said Brian Ronholm, director of food policy at Consumer Reports, which launched a petition to the USDA. “The Lunchables and similar lunch kits we tested contain concerning levels of sodium and harmful chemicals that can lead to serious health problems over time. The USDA should remove Lunchables from the National School Lunch Program and ensure that kids in schools have healthier options.”
The USDA currently allows two Lunchables kits — Turkey & Cheddar Cracker Stackers and Extra Cheesy Pizza — to be served to nearly 30 million children through the National School Lunch Program. To meet the program’s requirements, Kraft Heinz added more whole grains to the crackers and more protein to the Lunchable kits designed for schools compared to store-bought versions.
CR tested store-bought Lunchables and similar kits from Armour LunchMakers, Good & Gather, Greenfield Natural Meat Co., and Oscar Mayer and found lead, cadmium, or both in all. Lead and cadmium can cause developmental problems in children over time, even in small amounts. While none of the kits exceeded any federal limit, five of the 12 tested products would expose someone to 50 percent or more of California’s maximum allowable level for lead or cadmium – currently the most protective standard.
CR also detected at least one type of phthalate in every kit it tested, except for Lunchables Extra Cheesy Pizza. Phthalates are known endocrine disruptors, compounds that may mimic or interfere with hormones in the body, which can contribute to an increased risk of reproductive problems, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. As with heavy metals, the goal should be to keep exposure as low as possible.
The sodium levels in the store-bought lunch and snack kits CR tested ranged from 460 to 740 milligrams per serving, that’s nearly a quarter to half of a child’s daily recommended limit for sodium. CR found that the sodium levels of the Lunchables made for schools, which had a larger portion of meat, are higher than in the store-bought versions. The school version of the Turkey and Cheddar Lunchable for schools contained 930 mg of sodium compared to 740 mg in the store-bought version. Similarly, the Lunchable pizza kit for schools had 700 mg of sodium compared to 510 mg in the store version.
Eating foods with too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure and lead to hypertension, which is a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and kidney damage. Kids with high sodium intakes are about 40 percent more likely to develop hypertension than those who have low sodium diets.

@thewholecrew: ❝ if you’re gonna keep risking your life for me than you’re also gonna let me patch you up without a single complaint. ❞ / trin & nick hvh

standing against the metal table, nick examined the gash along his side, sucking in a sharp intake of breath as the wind, caused by trinity's delightful appearing act, prickled along his open wound. gritting his teeth together, crystal hues raised from his side to glare at the blonde before he rolled his eyes. "you've gotta stop doin' that in here," he muttered, letting the fabric of his shirt fall down as he turned toward the table, sifting through the med kit they had onboard.
after threading his stitching needle, nick took a long gulp of whiskey straight from the bottle before leaning against the table once more. he forced out a heavy exhale— while getting stitches was nothing new, even stitching someone up was practically second nature; nick had never quite managed to get past the queasy sensation in the pit of his stomach whenever he had to sew himself together. it must show in his features because before he can begin, once he slipped out of his shirt entirely, trinity was snatching the needle from him. "hey! the hell do you think you're doing?" he asked, brows furrowing as he put his palm out immediately. "if you’re gonna keep risking your life for me than you’re also gonna let me patch you up without a single complaint."
quickly, his brows lifted with surprise, softening his features a touch at her offer, covered in all trinity's usual attitude before a smirk rose on his lips. "yes ma'am." he poked playfully. if he thought back to the day's events, he had taken the knife to the side to keep trinity safe. just because she couldn't feel the damage...didn't mean her wounds had no chance of being life-threatening. "s'kinda my job to keep you alive you know, being the civilian and targets family and all, don't really need any thanks." he replied, his hands raising at his sides with innocent defeat before she could argue that that wasn't what she was doing. nick shook his head as he chuckled lightly, hopping up onto the metal table as trinity moved closer. "you sure you know what you're doing with that?" he asked in all seriousness, "there's no shame, i can do it, s'no big deal for me in my line of work."

We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This, chapter three, part six. Part one. Part two. Part Three. Part four. Part five.
Long one this week.
Din found a work table under the shade in Peli’s workshop and cleared off most of the accumulated junk that covered its surface. From his vantage point, he could see Mara handing over a wallet filled with credits, but he couldn’t hear what she and Peli were saying. Luke returned with a small tool kit pinned under his arm and a box containing the replacement memory chip. He opened the kit on the table and spread the tools out one-handed.
Mara came over and perched on the edge of the table, her feet propped up on the bench. Din sat on the other side of the table and watched as Luke shrugged out of his jacket and tossed it on the bench next to Mara’s feet. He’d removed his sling and his damaged hand hung at his side.
Din stared. A latticework of scars wrapped around Luke’s biceps, crawling out from under the short sleeves of his black shirt. They covered his upper arms, and, judging by the thick white patterns on his neck, his chest as well.
“That’s not an ion burn,” Din blurted before he could think the better of it.
“Oh,” Luke said, glancing down at the scars although he’d forgotten they existed. “No, those aren’t new. Not—not new.”
“I hadn’t noticed before,” Din said. They ran like rivers down Luke’s arms, one thick tributary ending abruptly where the prosthetic began. Din was seized by the urge to run his fingers along the scars, or—he shut down that line of thought quickly.
“We were wearing so much cover up at the Viper,” Mara explained, making a face of distaste. “Practically had to scrape it off later.”
The wide curved neckline of Mara’s shirt hung just below her collarbone and if Din looked closely he could see a few faint lines, delicate as lacework, peeping above the hem. The longest tendril curled at the base of her throat.
Din wrenched his gaze away. “Let me see your hand,” he said. The table was narrow enough that when Luke offered up his damaged prosthetic it rested comfortably between them, palm up.
Repairing the hand would be delicate work, so Din stripped off his gloves and tucked them in his belt. He lifted Luke’s hand in his own, the synthskin cool against his bare fingers. Luke’s hands were wide, his fingers long and blunt-tipped. His prosthetic was fashioned to perfectly match his left hand, with the exception of whatever wear and tear the original hand had suffered. Aside from the creases that criss crossed his palm, the synthskin was smooth, incapable of holding a callus. Din wondered what scars, what history, had been lost when the hand had been replaced. He ran his thumb over those creases, feeling the synthskin give under his touch.
He heard a sharp intake of breath and looked up. Luke was staring intently down at their hands.
“What?” Din looked down. The prosthetic cupped in his hand was still inert. “Sorry—did I—did that hurt?”
When he raised his head again, they both looked away. Luke shot an expression that Din couldn’t read in Mara’s direction, and Mara turned her head so that Din couldn’t see her face. There was color in Luke’s cheeks.
“No, it’s fine.” Luke shook his head. His voice was light, almost breathy. “No feeling at all.” He cleared his throat. “Uh. The catch is there—”
Luke reached over with his left hand and dug his nail into the side of his right wrist. Din heard a pop as the catch was released.
“Ah.” Din said. He could see the seam now. He carefully peeled back the synthskin, exposing the metal casing that surrounded the machinery. That too, opened with the press of a latch, and the interior workings of the prosthetic were revealed. Din pulled Luke’s hand a little closer, tilting his wrist this way and that to see around the row of pistons that powered the wrist’s motion.
“I didn’t lose it in an accident, if that’s what you’re thinking,” Luke said.
“In the war?” Din asked. There were a lot of ways that someone might lose a hand in a war zone.
Luke hesitated a moment. “My father cut it off,” he said softly.
Din’s head jerked up and he stared at Luke. His father? Anger flashed through him, bright and sudden as a lightning strike. How could a father have acted with such violence and cruelty toward own child—toward someone remarkable as Luke?
“Like I said, our relationship was complicated,” Luke said with the sort of wry lightness that masked deep pain.
In his peripheral vision, Din saw Mara turn her head in his direction to catch his eye, and from the flinty expression on her face, Din understood that she felt the same way that he did.
Hadn’t she made veiled references to growing up with an abusive guardian as well? Din took a breath, wrestling his anger back under control. There was nothing he could do about it. Not now. No matter how much he wished he could go back in time and shield them both from the father figures that had harmed them.
“I’m sorry,” Din said.
“It’s alright,” Luke said. “Thank you—I’ll tell you about it sometime.”
Din felt a tug on his boot. He looked down to see Grogu at his feet.
Putting Luke’s hand down for a moment, he lifted the child onto the table. “Don’t touch anything,” he said. Grogu immediately snatched up the shiniest tool in the kit and stuck it in his mouth. He looked back and forth between them, defiance creased onto his small face and the ratchet firmly between his teeth.
Luke laughed, reaching across the ruffle the thin hairs on Grogu’s head. “Don’t give yourself indigestion, kiddo.”
Din just sighed and turned his attention back to Luke’s hand. He used a pair of pliers to ease the fried memory chip out of its slot, hidden underneath one of the pistons. Casting the old chip aside, he removed the new chip from its packaging and fitted it into place. Luke had been right—he had to use both hands to carefully maneuver the delicate chip into the slot. With a careful nudge it clicked into place. Luke’s whole arm shivered and his fingers twitched.
When Din glanced up, he noticed that Luke had caught the edge of his lip between his teeth. This close, Din could see his long lashes brushing against his cheek as looked down at their hands.
Din forced his gaze back to the prosthetic.
“A few wires loose, too,” he said, making adjustments and trying not to be distracted by the way the hand came to life as he repaired it. When he was satisfied with his work, he snapped the metal casing closed. The synthskin sealed back together until it looked almost as seamless as a real hand, the only indication that it was a replica was the scar where the prosthetic met Luke’s arm.
Luke flexed his fingers wide and rotated his wrist in half-circle. “Thank you,” he said. “Thank you, Din.”
“Sensation all back?” Mara asked.
Luke reached up and brushed his fingers along her cheek. “Oh yes,” he murmured. She leaned down as he rose to his feet, their mouths meeting in a heated kiss. The hand Din had repaired wrapped around her waist as Luke stepped between her knees.
Din looked away, far too aware of the heat rushing to his face and wishing he had the ability to shut off the sound input to his helmet. Fumbling for the gloves at his belt, he pulled them back on. He looked over at Grogu, who was still determinedly chewing on the end of the ratchet. Grogu met Din’s eyes and pulled the tool out of his mouth. Maintaining eye contact, he tossed the ratchet to the ground, where it landed with a sharp clatter.
“Kid...” Din trailed off helplessly.
Luke and Mara had turned at the sound, and Luke stepped away from his wife with a chuckle. He scooped Grogu up with both hands. “Look what your dad did! Good as new!”
Din tried not to flinch as he tossed Grogu up in the air and caught him. Grogu shrieked in delight, his big ears flapping as he went up and down.

DIY Auto Part Customization for Car Enthusiasts: Unleash Your Inner Mechanic
DIY Auto Part Customization for Car Enthusiasts: Unleash Your Inner Mechanic Let’s be honest—there’s nothing quite like the thrill of turning a stock car into something uniquely yours. Whether it’s a subtle tweak or a full-blown transformation, DIY auto part customization lets you put your personal stamp on your ride. And the best part? You don’t need a professional garage to get started. Why Go the DIY Route? Sure, you could pay a shop to handle everything. But where’s the fun in that? Customizing your own car parts isn’t just about saving money (though that’s a nice perk). It’s about the satisfaction of knowing you built it. Plus, you’ll learn skills that’ll last a lifetime. Essential Tools for DIY Auto Customization Before diving in, you’ll need some basics. Here’s the deal—you don’t need a $10,000 toolbox, but a few key items will make life easier: Socket set – The backbone of any project. Angle grinder – For cutting, grinding, or polishing. Paint sprayer – If you’re planning custom finishes. Welder (optional) – For more advanced mods. Measuring tape & calipers – Precision is key. Easy DIY Customization Projects to Start With 1. Custom Interior Trim Swapping out dull plastic trim for carbon fiber wrap or painted accents is a beginner-friendly project. Peel, stick, and trim—no heavy tools required. Want something more durable? Sand, prime, and paint the original pieces for a factory-like finish. 2. DIY Cold Air Intake A cold air intake boosts performance and gives your engine bay a meaner look. Most kits are bolt-on, but if you’re feeling adventurous, fabricating your own piping isn’t as hard as it sounds. Just measure twice, cut once. 3. Custom Shift Knob This one’s a weekend project. Turn a piece of hardwood, acrylic, or even metal on a lathe (or buy a blank), then thread it to fit your gearbox. Suddenly, every gear change feels personal. Advanced Projects for the Ambitious Builder Once you’ve got a few wins under your belt, why not push further? Here’s where things get interesting. Fabricating Custom Exhaust Tips Want a growl that matches your car’s attitude? With some stainless steel tubing, a welder, and patience, you can craft exhaust tips that look—and sound—like they belong on a race car. Handmade Body Panels This isn’t for the faint of heart. But if you’ve got metalworking skills (or are willing to learn), shaping fender flares or a rear diffuser from sheet metal is the ultimate flex. Common Pitfalls (And How to Avoid Them) Even seasoned DIYers mess up sometimes. Here’s what to watch for: Rushing the prep work – Skipping sanding or cleaning leads to peeling paint or loose fittings. Ignoring safety – Gloves, goggles, and ventilation aren’t optional. Overestimating skill level – Start small. A botched intake is cheaper to fix than a cracked engine block. Where to Find Inspiration Stuck in a creative rut? Check out: Car forums (Reddit’s r/projectcar is gold) Instagram builds under #DIYCarMods Local car meets – nothing beats seeing mods in person Final Thoughts: Your Car, Your Rules At the end of the day, DIY customization isn’t about perfection—it’s about expression. That mismatched bolt? The slightly uneven paint? Those are proof you did it yourself. And honestly, that’s what makes it special. Cold Air Intake: One of the Top 10 Best Performance Upgrades for Your Car
Pound-for-pound (or dollar-for-dollar, if that’s your thing), few upgrades hit harder than a cold air intake. These performance parts are known to reduce intake temperatures and improve airflow, resulting in better efficiency, power gains, and an unbeatable sound. A cold air intake system is a must-have for any car enthusiast looking to boost their engine performance.
In this guide, we’ll discuss the basics of a cold air intake kit as well as why cold air intakes rank so highly among performance upgrades.
What is a Cold Air Intake?
A cold air intake is an aftermarket part designed to replace the stock system that filters and supplies air to a fuel-injected engine. Stock air intake systems in most cars consist of thick plastic boxes and ribbed intake piping that create air turbulence, restrict airflow, muffle sound, and absorb heat from the engine the longer it runs—all of which are bad for engine performance.
On the other hand, a cold air intake system is engineered to improve performance. A cold air intake kit consists of a smooth metal intake pipe that improves overall airflow to the engine. Their filters aren’t encased in a thick metal box, but exposed within a compartment that is far less susceptible to heat gain, providing cooler air temperatures. And since cooler air is denser with oxygen molecules, the combustion process is more efficient and produces more power.
Most cold air intake kits relocate the air filter to a position where it can draw cooler air. This may be closer to the front of the car, closer to a hood scoop or air dam, or directly behind the bumper. Essentially, these kits are designed to pull fresh air from outside of the engine bay to improve combustion and increase horsepower and torque.
How Does a Cold Air Intake Work?
Your car’s engine requires three things to fire: fuel, spark, and oxygen. The stock intake system does an adequate job of providing oxygen, but it can be improved to help your car achieve maximum potential performance.
A cold air intake system is installed before the mass airflow sensor, also known as a MAF. A high-flow pipe attaches to the MAF and then ultimately to a performance air filter strategically located away from the engine. This allows the cold air intake to:
Increase airflow: With the smooth pipe and high-flow filter, the intake pulls in more air and reduces turbulence over a stock system.
Lower air temperatures: Since air is pulled from outside of the engine bay, the air is cooler and therefore denser with oxygen.
Improve efficiency: Better airflow with cooler, denser air allows the engine to operate more efficiently, delivering more power with less fuel.
6 Benefits of Installing a Cold Air Intake
A cold air intake can make a significant difference for most engines, but some can benefit from it more than others. The biggest changes will be in performance vehicles with powerful engines and those with forced induction, such as those with turbos and superchargers.
1. More Power and Torque
A cold air intake is one of the simplest and most economical ways to improve your car or truck’s horsepower and torque output. While results vary based on factors such as dyno type, elevation, and ambient temperatures, many engines see an improvement of 5-20 horsepower. Forced induction vehicles can see even greater increases as these vehicles love to breathe fresh, unrestricted air.
2. Enhanced Sound
For enthusiasts, the sound of a cold air intake falls just below a performance exhaust, a supercharger whine, or a turbo blow-off. A CAI creates a deeper and more aggressive tone along with the sound of air rushing into the air filter. If louder is better (and it usually is), a cold air intake is a great product for the job.
3. Better Fuel Efficiency
While a cold air intake is primarily installed for performance, it can also improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency. By ensuring optimal combustion, the engine uses fuel more efficiently, saving you money over time.
4. Improve Throttle Response
Cold air intakes can slightly improve throttle response, providing a more enjoyable driving experience. Since they allow denser air with less turbulence past the MAF and throttle body, the engine will appear to rev slightly faster.
5. Ease of Installation
Most intake kits are designed for an easy installation process. In most cases, they require simply disconnecting the existing intake, removing the filter box and intake tube, and bolting the new intake tube and filter in place. Most enthusiasts can handle this on their own, allowing them to save on the cost of a mechanic while improving performance.
6. Improved Engine Longevity
Generally speaking, a cold air intake system will come with a premium filter to prevent debris, dirt, and contaminants out of your engine. In turn, your engine will experience less wear and tear along with improved efficiency, which could contribute to a longer life span with proper maintenance.
Comparing Cold Air Intake Systems to Stock Systems
Obviously, your stock intake system works well enough. The engine gets enough air to support internal combustion. But from a performance standpoint, your stock system and a cold air intake are entirely different animals.
Stock systems are made with cost-saving materials and designed to reduce noise. These materials retain heat, which in turn increases the temperature of the air delivered through the MAF, then through the throttle body, and then into the cylinder. These systems are also restrictive, as the finish of the tubes is relatively rough, the ribs in the pipes create turbulence, and intake ports in the filter boxes are generally small, preventing adequate air delivery.
Cold air intakes are entirely different. Not only are these systems designed to pull air from the best locations, but their fit and finish promote airflow. Intake tubes are smoother, and they’re made from premium materials that dissipate heat quickly.
The difference between a stock system and a cold air intake is night and day. Stock air intake systems are built with cost-saving materials and are designed to prioritize noise reduction. On the other hand, a cold air intake system is built for performance. From the quality of the materials to the finish of the tubes, every aspect is designed to maximize airflow and efficiency.
So, if we boil it down into simplest terms:
Stock systems are restrictive in favor of cost-saving materials and noise reduction
Cold air intake kits feature better materials to improve airflow, noise output, and optimal performance
Is a Cold Air Intake Worth It?
In most cases, we can say that a cold air intake is absolutely worth it. They’re affordable, easy to install, and can provide tangible results. They also improve efficiency and increase horsepower, making them one of the best bolt-on modifications for your car or truck—especially if it’s turbocharged or has a centrifugal supercharger. And let’s not forget, they offer a better driving experience.
And, if you plan on tuning your car or truck for more performance, an improved intake system could be key to getting the most for your investment.

hi! thank you guys for taking the time to answer questions about your systems :D When the time comes to eventually introduce a second character for members, how will that look for characters that aren't in-server adopts or kits? Will we be able to dm a mod about introducing a loner character organically into our chosen group with our second character slot instead of just spawning them in? Thank you again! it's always exciting seeing how other groups operate :DD
Of course!! We’re happy to make things easier to understand!!
So at the very start of the server, we’re expecting that a good majority of cats will be “spawned in” like you said, since that’s most likely how the general populace of the colonies will be established as the story takes shape, if that makes sense!
But yes, characters will be allowed to come in from the outside! We’d use our handy Ticket System to chat about ways to have a character come in instead of DMs though, mostly as it keeps things organized for us and also gives folks the opportunity to talk with both staff members without having to create a DM group chat! :}
With that being said, because of how the Wayfinders are usually on the move and decently distanced from places where humans would be around, having outsiders join their group is pretty rare, but not impossible! The Metal Scrappers would evidently be the colony with the most intake of loners/rogues/kittypets due to their proximity to humans!
Little special events where a group of outsiders may stumble into the colonies and have something happening that will involve the groups is also something we’re considering as possible instances where new cats can be introduced!
We’re hoping to make things as smooth as possible to how characters are made a part of the story and also more than open for suggestions and ideas!! Even with characters that will be spawned in as always having been part of the groups, we’ll try to find the best way to do that seamlessly and hopefully bring odd retconning to a minimum! :D

This guy BG has taken her son's design on. everything, and he's just like these other schmucks and doesn't pay him and give some trouble. This is a really hot car It's our son and daughter who designed it, and we're going to use it as a kit car in this format as a 4 seater This is actually a four seater. It's a sport It's a sport version of the Tesla. and we're going to make a kit and we're going to use the compact sedan, which is the same size. And we will bump out the rear tire. using a kit. It will be 4 wheel independent suspension front wheel drive fully electric. And he's come up with the name and we're pretty much going to copy the car because it's not produced. We're going to change it a little because it's been just 10 years. But there's some things we don't like. but there are things that make it look like a super car. We might lower the top of it to make it look more supercar and less Asian. The name of the vehicle is Zephyr And his spelling is usually atrocious. but he has it right and we wil talk to bja. wants tons we cn make them. We will start out with a front wheel drive electric motor. And we use the existing transmission, which is heavier duty than most. With the goal of being mid engine, and we will always have 4 wheel independent suspension. These cars are too fast, not too.. we're going to actually produce this because of his. attitude. And we need his stuff, and we need him out. We don't need someone who knows what they're doing. he's going to try and kidnap him constantly too. And this will heat it up nicely. we're going to start out with a standard battery configuration for the motor. But because it's lighter, we're going to start out with the. FRP, RCR, and it's. a bit stronger. It doesn't move or bend at speed, and it doesn't dent as easy, and it doesn't rip to pieces if you hit someone or someone. hits you. And it can be fixed fairly simply and. will have to make kits for that. We will switch to metal which will be a little heavier, but not much This car is going to be very fast. It will be quick charge. 15 to 20 minutes. Fully charged. We will have a small reserve battery. Most cars don't. But we will. It's about the size of a bicycle battery and goes about five miles or 10 miles..
0-60 3.2 seconds
quarter mile 7 seconds
top speed 280 mph mostly 300 mph but wiht our son and ken ok
distance per full charge: 400 miles plus
These statistics are accurate even with the full size lithium battery system. it would be encased as well. the chassis will have to reinforce. We will take. the whole thing off, and we will leave the firewall. And the dashboard and we will replace none of the gages. No, we replace a couple, but they do have the same size, and it's very simple.. if you look at it, you definitely will know it's electric. And we're going to have an air intake for cooling in the front. We don't know why he doesn't. He's a little insane. The drive is definitely not on the wheels. It's an engine in a transmission.
This is a kick car, but with special panels. They're like the Saturn, but they're sturdier, and it. has a brake system with it. And high speed tires and rims and will look very cool. And be very light. and with roll cage and enclosure in a in a frame for the panels and engine and it's not going to be much of a frame. No, it will be a real one, but it's going to be made so it's not hard to put together and we'll. make it as a kit car to send to people.
Zephyr and nice she says and came up with hit sees it and good.
youtube
i love this song and now i know why no i loved it before one of cour creatures i thought mb both we do that typically and they prob build this car

How To Take Care Of Your Oral Health With Invisalign?

Invisalign is a popular alternative to traditional metal braces to correct dental issues like gaps and overbites. Both options can lead you to your goal and improve your smile. But using Invisalign clear aligners instead of conventional metal braces doesn’t demand you to make any vital lifestyle changes. For example, you won’t have to avoid certain foods or wear a custom mouthguard when you play contact sports.
However, undergoing Invisalign treatment does require maintaining good oral hygiene. Though it may sound intimidating, it is not! Here, you will find the answers to all your questions based on the insights we have taken from the expert team of Orthodontists at AK Global Dent. This blog will help you understand how to manage your oral health with Invisalign. And where to find the best Orthodontist doctor in Gurgaon. So, let’s start the journey together!
Seven Tips To Follow Oral Hygiene With Invisalign
Brush And Floss Your Teeth First
As per the doctors, a typical patient wears their Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours daily. In between that, you must remove your aligners whenever you eat or drink something besides water. To keep your teeth in good shape, you must brush and floss your teeth before you put Invisalign clear aligners back into your mouth.
To ensure you do the brush timely, it’s advised to take a travel toothbrush and toothpaste with you if you are going out to eat. If that’s not possible or you forget them at home, try to at least swish your teeth clean with some water before reinserting your aligners.
Limit The Intake Of Foods And Beverages That Causes Stains
Despite not restricting what you can eat or drink during your Invisalign treatment, you can still take cautious steps when determining how much you consume stain-causing foods and beverages. To simplify it in a better way, we have made a list that you may want to think twice about consuming to prevent your aligners from becoming stained:
Wine
Soda
Tea
Coffee
Juice
Soy Sauce
Acidic fruits like grapefruit.
Remember To Brush Your Aligners properly.
Just like you brush your teeth daily, you must also brush your Invisalign aligners and take proper care of them. Though your aligners are tough enough to handle the day’s event, they need special care when brushing. So make sure you brush your aligners lightly but thoroughly.
Tip: Do not use toothpaste on your aligners, especially the whitening ones or toothpaste that includes baking soda in its ingredients.
Get Used To Invisalign Cleaning Kit
It is easy to maintain your aligners in good condition with the help of an Invisalign cleaning kit. These kits will deep clean your aligners by keeping them in a glass of water and a denture cleaning tablet.
Build A Habit To Store Your Aligners In A Case
When you’re not wearing your Invisalign clear aligners, store them in a case. If you lay them on a table or sink, they can get covered with germs and bacteria, which will wind up in your mouth.
Stay Hydrated And Maintain Overall Health
Staying hydrated is essential for both your general health and oral well-being. Drinking water can help to flush away bacteria and food particles, reducing the risk of cavities and gum issues. Additionally, having a balanced diet and overall health leads to the success of your Invisalign treatment. Include nutrient-rich foods to support your strong teeth and gums and enhance the overall impact of orthodontic care on your oral health.
Rinse Your Mouth Before Inserting Aligners Ideally, it would help if you cleaned all the plaque and food debris from your teeth before placing your aligners back on your teeth again. If you do not, you will trap all the food and bacteria between your aligners and teeth. It can result in stains on your teeth and aligners, bad breath, and an increased risk of developing cavities. So, try to brush or at least rinse your mouth with water after eating.
Final Words
Finally, taking care of your oral health with Invisalign involves a combination of regular check-ups, hygiene practices, and lifestyle considerations. Following these tips ensures that your Invisalign journey results in a beautifully aligned smile with improved oral health. Remember, a healthy smile is beautiful, and using Invisalign properly can help you achieve both.

Gravity Water Filters: A Safe and Affordable Way to Clean Your Drinking Water

Water is essential for the life of humans and other living creatures. Excluding fat, water makes up about 70% of the human body by mass. Water plays a significant role in metabolism and acts as a solvent to dissolve solutes. The Environmental Protection Agency previously reported that the average American drank 2.0 litres of water a day, but now reports that intake varies by age.
In large parts of the world, humans do not have enough drinking water. In many countries, drinking this type of contaminated water causes ill health and death. Developing countries aim to provide clean drinking water to the people and thereby safeguard public health. RO water is sold for public consumption as drinking water in many places.
Water is a basic human need and right, but recently water has been commercialized and sold in cans. The sale of canned water has been expanding recently as the general public believes that it is a healthier one. In many places, the commonly available water is stored and sold.
In general drinking water can be contaminated by various sources, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, chemicals, metals, or radioactive substances. Water quality can vary depending on the source, distribution, and storage of the water.
Every person needs to have access to clean and safe drinking water in order to stay healthy. Unfortunately, many of our water sources are not safe. This article will discuss the importance of drinking water safety and provide tips on how to ensure it.
Drinking water safety is important for human health and well-being. Drinking water standards are set by BIS authorities to ensure that the water is safe for consumption and meets certain criteria for taste, odor, colour, and clarity. Drinking water testing is a way to monitor the quality and safety of the water and identify any potential problems or risks. Drinking water filtration is a process that removes or reduces contaminants from the water and improves its quality and safety. Drinking water disinfection is a common method that kills or inactivates harmful microorganisms in the water using chemicals or physical methods. Drinking water protection is a collective responsibility that involves individuals, communities, industries, and governments. Drinking water conservation is a way to reduce water waste and preserve the availability and quality of the water for future generations.
Here are some tips to help ensure that your drinking water is safe:
Check your water source: Know where your water is coming from and whether it is treated. If you get your water from a public water system, you can contact your water supplier to obtain a water quality report. If you have a private well, get it tested annually.
Test your water: If you are concerned about the safety of your drinking water, you can have it tested. You can purchase a water test kit or contact a certified laboratory.
Install a water filtration system: A water filtration system can remove contaminants from your drinking water. There are many types of filtration systems available, such as gravity water filter systems etc..,
Store your water properly: If you store water for emergencies, make sure it is stored in a clean, airtight container in a cool, dark place.
Use safe water practices: Avoid drinking water from sources that may be contaminated, such as rivers, lakes, or streams. Also, make sure to wash your hands before handling water, and properly clean any containers used for water storage or transport.
Remember, the safety of your drinking water is important to your health, so take the necessary precautions to ensure that it is safe to drink.

The Hidden Dangers of Iron in Your Water and How You Can Avoid Them

Clean drinking water is a necessity, not a luxury. While water is essential for overall well-being, what if it contains unwanted guests such as microorganisms, germs, heavy metals, and other contaminants that can cause severe health problems? One such unwanted metal is iron, whose presence in water can cause many problems. It affects the taste of water and also causes damage to plumbing lines and appliances.
ZeroB offers an entire range of iron removers, which are designed specifically for Indian households, offices, and hotels and have proven to be effective in removing iron and providing you with clean, iron-free water.
Check out the entire range here!
The Culprits: Types of Iron in Water
Iron can manifest in different forms in your water supply, each with its own set of challenges:
Ferrous Iron: Also known as clear-water iron, this type of iron is dissolved in water and remains invisible. Over time, when exposed to air, ferrous iron oxidizes and transforms. It makes the water look cloudy, and you can see a reddish-brown substance at the bottom of the tank or vessel. It is oxidized ferrous iron that does not dissolve.
Ferric Iron: This form of iron appears as visible, rust-colored particles that can stain surfaces, clothes, and fixtures. These particles are not only unsightly but also indicative of underlying issues. If you see reddish or yellowish water coming out of the faucet, it indicates ferric iron. The ferrous water turns into ferric water when it comes into contact with the atmosphere and turns ferric.
The Hidden Dangers of Iron in Water
Only clean water should be used for consumption and household chores. Water containing iron not only affects your health but also impacts the infrastructure around the house. ZeroB understands all your needs and, thus, protects you from the hidden dangers of iron in water.
Staining and Discoloration
Ferric iron particles leave reddish-brown stains on sinks, appliances, and clothes that are hard to remove. They require extra cleaning efforts.
Unpleasant Taste and Odor
Iron-contaminated water can have a metallic taste that diminishes the quality of your drinking and cooking experiences. Additionally, iron can give water a musty or earthy odor. If you find that the water in your area has a distinct taste or color, it is advised to consult a water testing expert.
Appliance and Plumbing Damage
Iron buildup in pipes, appliances, and water heaters can lead to clogs, reduced water flow, and decreased efficiency. It can result in costly repairs and replacements over time.
Bacterial Growth
Bacterial growth is another danger of iron in water as it produces an environment conducive to the growth of iron bacteria. It creates a slimy film in the water, which affects its taste and also causes an unpleasant odor.
Health Considerations
While iron is an essential nutrient for the body, excessive iron intake from water is not recommended and can lead to health issues. Furthermore, iron-producing bacteria may also introduce harmful microorganisms into your water supply.
Avoiding The Dangers
If the water in your area is reddish and tastes foul, it is probably due to excess iron. The following measures will help you avoid the dangers of iron in water.
Water Testing
Regular water testing is the first step to confirming that the water is contaminated with ferrous iron. Home testing kits or professional water testing services can help you understand the extent of the problem.
Filtration Systems
Multiple filtration systems are available that guarantee the removal of contaminants from the water. Water softeners equipped with iron filters remove dissolved iron from low levels of iron in water. Oxidization filters use air, chlorine, or potassium to turn the ferrous iron into ferric iron to make it easier to filter.
ZeroB offers water softeners and iron removers that shield your family against the dangers of iron.
Activated Carbon Filters
Activated carbon filters use activated carbon technology to remove iron from the water and make it usable. These filters can address taste and odor issues.
Water Heater Maintenance
Regularly flushing your water heater can prevent iron buildup and extend the appliance’s lifespan.
Address Plumbing Issues
Iron buildup is also hazardous to your pipes and other infrastructure. It is advised to consult a professional plumber to clean or replace the affected pipes.
ZeroB Iron Remover
While iron may seem like an innocent mineral, its presence in your water can lead to a cascade of hidden dangers that impact your daily life, appliances, and even your health. Being proactive in testing your water, investing in suitable filtration systems, and practicing maintenance can help you steer clear of the undesirable consequences of iron contamination.
Thus, we have introduced an entire range of water iron removers that effectively clean your water, make it iron-free, and provide you with healthy water.
