Master List 2019
I realised the other day that I never actually made a master list for all of last year’s wonderful contributions. Sooo, I spent some time gathering everything I could find in the tag (as well as chasing some other stuff down - if I missed you in here somewhere, please let me know, send a link, and I’ll add you) threw together some bad photoshop (because I don’t know how to do that stuff) text and here we are! Stories will be gathered under ‘Fanfic’ and ‘media’ covers everything from gifsets to fanart.
With Pitchmas around the corner, it’s the perfect time to revisit these!

Bechloe AU: Beca and Chloe have a bowling date night.
Merry Pitchmas @not-so-average-fangirl! I know this isn’t like the greatest AU ever made, but I got the idea while I was catching up on Almost Family and thought I could make it work.

curling at christmas (1/1)
Summary: Beca’s first Christmas with Chloe’s family. Curling and chaos abound.
HAPPY PITCHMAS!! For @ittybittytinypaws—sending you all my love and well-wishes. May you have some Bechloe this year. ❤️
Endless thank yous to @emilyeetsonnett and @cleareyesfullbeers without whom this fic would just simply not be...your curling knowledge/resources was beyond helpful. I know nothing about curling and I apologize in advance for any errors both grammatical and substantive.

Read on AO3 or below.
For a group of people who live in a geographic location which doesn’t necessarily get a lot of snow, Chloe’s family in Portland has a fascination with all ice sports.
Including curling.
Which explains why (and yet...that seemingly explains nothing at all) Beca finds herself skidding face-first across the ice to the amusement of Chloe’s brothers (and Chloe, even if she will never admit it).
But first, a brief detour back to where it all began.
— — — —
It starts off slowly.
An inevitable force bringing them closer and closer together.
Slowly because they’ve been friends for years—close to a decade, really—and now they’re living in different cities for the first time in at least eight years.
But all it took was a visit to Los Angeles for the weekend, a casual outing as Beca Mitchell’s plus-one, then one glass of wine to top off the night.
And of course, the brush of impossibly soft lips against her own like Beca had never experienced before. The kiss had been impossibly tender, incredibly light: it had been surreal, both of them spending Christmas away from their own families because of commitments and other situations. Chloe’s eyes had been impossibly bright as she admitted to harboring a crush for years now and oh, wouldn’t Beca just let her forget about doing any of this?
It would have been easy to agree. Almost too easy. Beca found herself on the verge of nodding, even as her tongue flicked out to swipe at her lower lip unconsciously.
But impossibly—almost impossibly—she hadn’t. She had shaken her head and pulled Chloe in for another kiss, both of them whimpering at the sensation.
The next morning, tangled up in Beca’s sheets, Chloe had been remorseful in saying she had to return up to Davis, but she wanted to talk about it and the last thing she wanted to do was forget about it.
(“Best Christmas present ever though,” Chloe whispers, kissing the mark she had left on Beca’s neck.
Beca’s not sure she’ll ever top this Christmas.)
They did end up talking about it, but talking was really all they could manage with Beca suddenly being shipped off across the country on a tour for the following months. Winter turned into Spring, then finally summer and Chloe ended up spending the entire summer interning in Los Angeles.
So it starts off slow, but somewhere between two Christmases, Beca Mitchell ends up dating Chloe Beale.
— — — —
And of course, for all the in-betweens, that summer together cements a lot of firsts together: first fight, first long weekend away together, first ugly tabloid rumor, first public night out as an official couple...many firsts and many memories.
Distinctly, one first is missing, but years of repressed emotions and secret crushes make for a difficult time getting those words out. Three words, that’s all it is. Yet, three words never seemed so intimidating.
— — — —
“Christmas in Portland,” is how Chloe greets her after a long day of class. Class for Chloe. Domestic chores for Beca which she is doing happily as an escape from L.A..
Beca is putting Chloe’s groceries away before Chloe is pinning Beca up against the counter and pressing a long, slow kiss against Beca’s lips.
“What’s that?” Beca questions, distracted by the sensation of Chloe’s lips against her own. Chloe tastes like coffee and something sweet, likely the blueberry scone she enjoys with her drink.
“I said,” Chloe murmurs, tilting Beca’s lips up for another kiss, perhaps a touch inappropriate for the middle of the day with the fridge wide open and Chloe’s roommates just down the hall. “Christmas in Portland?” she repeats. She leans back, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes. While a rarity, Chloe’s insecurities still bubble to the surface occasionally. “I was wondering if you wanted to spend Christmas with my family this year.”
“Oh,” Beca says. Her heart begins to thump in her chest, a product of nerves. It isn’t like Beca has made any other Christmas plans, which she knows Chloe is aware of. Beca’s mother is travelling with her own friends this holiday season and her father is spending time with her stepmother’s family. It would be such an easy yes and in all honesty, she kind of wants to scream it.
Chloe takes her hesitation as a negative, beginning to blush under Beca’s gaze. “It’s—it’s fine if you don’t want to. I just brought it up because I knew you didn’t really have Christmas plans. And I honestly debated going home at all this year, but my parents really want to see me and…” Chloe trails off, pulling Beca close. Their bodies settle neatly together, like two pieces slotting together at long last. “I know they really want to meet you.”
Beca’s brow furrows. She trails her hands up Chloe’s arms before settling on looping her arms around Chloe’s neck. “They’ve met me before.”
“Not like this,” Chloe murmurs.
“And what’s this?” Beca challenges.
In response, Chloe kisses her. It is more thorough than the last. Kissing Chloe thrills Beca every time. The sensations ricochet all the way through her body, usually lingering somewhere in her chest. This kiss isn’t one that Beca necessarily wants to stop, so she lets the heat build pleasantly between her legs because Chloe’s hands are slipping up the back of her shirt, Chloe’s foot is kicking the fridge closed, and Chloe’s tongue is doing sinful things to her mouth. Beca, feeling significantly warmer from both the fridge finally being closed and Chloe’s ministrations on her body (more of the latter than anything), kisses back and opens her mouth more to allow Chloe’s tongue to continue its exploration.
Just as Beca feels the urge to shift and clench her thighs together to alleviate some of the pressure building, Chloe is slowing down their kisses, a fact belied only by the way Chloe’s hands are now cupping Beca’s breasts over the thin material of her bra. Beca whimpers and tilts her head back to glare at Chloe reproachfully as if to say “pick a speed”, but Chloe tugs her bottom lip between her teeth and stares at Beca questioningly. It is a little unfair, Beca thinks, that Chloe is one hundred percent using her body (and her familiarity with Beca’s body) to get Beca to respond to her inquiry...not that Beca would have really not agreed to go to Portland. It’s the principle of it all.
Still a little dazed, Beca can’t help the grin that stretches across her lips. “Well why didn’t you just say so?” she asks, a bit more breathless than before.
Chloe raises an eyebrow. “So is that a yes?”
“Definitely a yes,” Beca murmurs. “Thank you,” she adds, completely sincere and grateful for Chloe Beale as always. She pulls Chloe in for another kiss, settling on the sensation of Chloe’s smile against her lips and the small giggles that rise up between them. Of all the kisses they have shared and will continue to share, this variation is Beca’s favorite: messy and a little off-base, but still tender and filled with affection. It reminds Beca of everything she likes about their relationship—all the ups and downs and everything that brought them to where they are now. Kissing in Chloe’s tiny apartment kitchen in Davis at the end of November.
Beca doesn’t protest as Chloe pulls her through the apartment to her bedroom, both of them leaving behind the small pile of groceries on the counter.
— — — —
Last Christmas, Beca and Chloe had spent it in Los Angeles—most of it in bed—only starting to figure out their feelings for each other.
This year, Christmas in Portland with pretty much Chloe’s entire family could not be a bigger change in scenery.
Hailing from Seattle herself, Beca hadn’t expected Portland to be much different. She had never really been there before and even during her stop on the tour, she hadn’t been able to really travel around and explore. Some similarities exist: that general smell of rain in the air, decently-sized population, good culinary scenes, pretty friendly people (more than Beca’s used to from both Hollywood and New York at least), and of course the proximity to bodies of water.
Still, Portland is smaller and Chloe’s family lives further outside the metropolitan area than Beca’s family did in Seattle.
But none of that matters. What matters is how nervous Beca feels standing in front of Chloe’s parents' house, staring up at the impossibly intimidating family home. Intimidating in all the warmth it seems to eminate.
“Beca, it’s just my parents,” Chloe says softly. She gently presses one luggage into Beca’s hand. “They like you a lot.”
“That was before,” Beca hisses. She tugs the bag up the front steps with unnecessary force.
Chloe looks entirely too amused. “Before what?”
Like a puzzle piece—the final puzzle piece—slotting neatly into place, Beca feels the oddest comfort ripple through her. Something tightens in Beca’s chest. She turns to face Chloe and for a moment, things seem to fade away: Beca can no longer see the obnoxiously bright Christmas decorations on the front porch, she can no longer hear the sound of the rain lightly coming down around them, she can no longer hear the sound of one of Chloe’s parents’ neighbors loudly singing Christmas carols while putting up his own decorations.
Instead, she sees a drop of rain slip off the end of Chloe’s nose as if she’s seeing things in slow motion. She sees the flutter of Chloe’s eyelashes as eyelids open and close to reveal her favorite shade of blue. She sees the twitch of Chloe’s lips as she offers a reassuring smile. She sees, somehow, an entire future together spread before her, better than any of her best-laid plans before.
She could have never planned for this—could have never asked for anything better.
Her retort dies on her tongue with something else coming to mind instead. But she finds herself too stricken to voice it; too shy to blurt it out.
Chloe’s brow furrows in confusion and concern. “Bec.”
“I...Nothing.”
Beca is saved from further inquiry when the door finally swings open, startling both Beca and Chloe out of their staring match.
Delighted squeals fill the air and Beca finds herself pulled into her first family group hug of the holiday season.
(Maybe ever.)
— — — —
Despite Chloe’s reassurances that her family will like Beca regardless and that they already do, in fact, like Beca, Beca finds herself staring warily across the kitchen table at both of Chloe’s brothers who have somehow instigated some kind of interrogation without Chloe’s knowledge.
“Chloe?” Beca calls over her shoulder, waiting to hear if her girlfriend will respond.
“Beca,” Cooper—the younger of Chloe’s two older brothers—says, folding his hands neatly on the table. “Chloe’s helping mom in the basement.”
“She can’t hear you,” Mackenzie—other brother—adds helpfully.
They’re not necessarily threatening statements, but Beca is feeling decidedly threatened. She inhales. “How do you like Seattle?” she directs at Cooper. “Chloe told me you just started a new job there.” He stares at her. “I’m from Seattle originally,” Beca adds quickly.
“It’s fine. Not too different from here. And I’m glad it’s not too far from home.” He grins at her. “Away from home often, Beca?”
“Beca,” Mackenzie says suddenly. “How do you feel about team sports?”
Beca groans.
— — — —
“They’re harmless,” Chloe promises.
“They look like they could easily pick me up.”
“Beca, I can easily pick you up.”
“Huh. Must run in the family.”
— — — —
Later that night after a relatively harmless—as promised by Chloe—family dinner, Beca hesitantly climbs into bed next to Chloe who is uploading photos of themselves to Instagram. “Chlo,” she says lightly. “Why did your brother ask me about team sports today?”
“Who, Mackenzie?” At Beca’s nod, Chloe laughs. “Oh, he’s a manager at Evergreen. We do a family day during the holidays if enough of us are around. I thought I told you about that.”
“Uh, no,” Beca squeaks. “You definitely didn’t. You know how I feel about physical activity.” Beca’s brow furrows. “And what’s Evergreen? Is that a community center?” She doesn’t like Chloe’s grin. “Chloe,” she whispers harshly. “I need to be prepared.”
Chloe puts her phone down before twisting to curl an arm around Beca’s waist. “Prepared for what?” she asks, laughing.
“Emergencies, like playing sports.”
“But you do like physical activity,” Chloe points out.
“No I don’t.”
“Some,” Chloe clarifies. To make her point, Chloe begins kissing Beca’s neck pointedly. Her hand tightens on Beca’s hip when she feels Beca’s body shift and curl into her own instinctively.
“Chloe, no,” Beca hisses when she comes back into herself. “It’s almost Christmas and your parents are right down the hall. Your siblings are in this house.”
“I don’t see how any of those are related,” Chloe whispers, brushing the tip of her nose along Beca’s jaw.
“I don’t see how you can’t see how this is all related,” Beca retorts without any real bite. Her eyes flutter shut at the sensation of Chloe’s hand trailing up her shirt. “Stop, I don’t have a bra on,” she murmurs.
“I don’t see how that’s a problem,” Chloe murmurs. Still, she pauses her hand, stopping it in its path. She presses a slow kiss against the corner of Beca’s mouth. “I’ll stop if you really want to,” she promises. Damn her, Beca thinks. Her voice is low and raspy, just how Beca likes it most.
“Fine, but be quiet,” Beca grumbles without any real animosity. She twists so she is smoothly sitting astride Chloe’s hips.
Chloe raises an eyebrow at the action, running her hands up her thighs. “Are you sure I’m going to be the one having problems being quiet?” Her grin becomes downright lascivious. “You know how you get when you’re on top.”
Leaning down, Beca presses a heated, thorough kiss against Chloe’s mouth, intent on proving her wrong.
— — — —
It feels very wrong, scrambling to put on any piece of clothing when Chloe’s mother knocks on her bedroom door the next morning.
It also feels incredibly inappropriate to thank Chloe’s mother for the warm custom-made sweaters while wearing one of her daughter’s oversized t-shirts clearly snatched up from the closest drawer.
But, unfolding the sweater, Beca nearly tears up when she traces the stitching of her name into the cheerfully red and green fabric.
Chloe pulls her into a warm embrace, kissing her cheek without saying a word.
The sweater is also designed like a sports jersey, which really should have been yet another clue, but Beca is too overwhelmed with emotions.
— — — —
I am probably going to be nominated for a Grammy Award next year, Beca thinks to herself while Chloe loads up a video about curling of all things. Probably remembering their previous conversation a few nights before. I can learn about curling.
“Two minutes,” Chloe promises. “And if you have any questions, I’ll explain.”
“You’ve played before?”
“Pretty much played it growing up. My family loves it. It’s basically a Christmas tradition.”
Beca grins at the side of Chloe’s face. “You’re so weird.”
“Shh, Beca—” Chloe glances at her. “Beca! You’re missing it!”
— — — —
“Do you have any questions?”
“...No,” Beca lies.
She should have asked why they were watching a video about curling.
— — — —
It happens quicker than Beca expects.
It being that...Portland begins to grow on Beca. She loves the friendliness and the food and the way Chloe happily introduces her to everybody they meet as “my girlfriend, Beca” with all kinds of fondness and happiness in her voice.
She could get used to this.
— — — —
It’s hereditary—it must be: she knows that Chloe has a penchant for sports of all kind, even if she kind of sucks at everything except volleyball. Beca has seen Chloe crush it at beach volleyball, but the girl really isn’t much good at anything else. That’s still one sport Chloe has over Beca who would much rather prefer being a passive observer. She has kind of limited her physical activity since leaving Barden.
(She still engages in some physical activities. Very limited physical activities. Fun ones. With Chloe, ideally.)
Regardless, Beca knows that Chloe is a huge fan of the Olympics, particularly Winter Olympics, so she should have seen this coming really. She just hadn’t been expecting curling. Nor had she been expecting Chloe’s brother to work at the Evergreen Curling Club. She had sorely underestimated her girlfriend and suddenly wishes she had put two and two together sooner.
“Curling,” she repeats, looking at Chloe for help while they make their way through the doors. “I’m not playing,” she says immediately.
“You don’t have to play,” Chloe promises. “Just show some support. And,” she whispers, leaning down to nip at Beca’s ear. “Just a couple of hours of this and we have the house to ourselves tonight because my family’s going out.”
Beca can’t really argue with that.
Still, just to be clear: “Okay, but I’m not playing,” she repeats clearly.
— — — —
“Here,” Chloe says, pressing a brush into Beca’s hands. Beca stares at the offending item, then back at Chloe. “Try,” she implores. “We don’t have to play officially, but I think you’ll look cute sweeping.”
Beca looks at Chloe suspiciously. “You never say that to me when you’re trying to get me to clean my apartment.”
“Do you want me to say that to you?”
Beca pauses. “I’ll consider it.”
Chloe opens her mouth to retort, probably with something supremely inappropriate in a deceptively sweet tone. Beca is disappointed when they are interrupted by a new voice cutting through their high-school level flirting.
“Chloe?”
Chloe turns, nearly whacking Beca in the face with the tip of her brush. “Sarah! It’s been so long!”
Beca waits for Chloe to introduce her to whom she assumes is one of Chloe’s cousins, with how comfortable Chloe is with this person. And how this person runs a hand up Chloe’s arm like she’s familiar with doing so. And how this person gazes at Chloe with an interesting amount of more-than-platonic interest.
Beca bristles and slowly shuffles closer, gently poking Chloe in the shoulder with the end of her brush. “Hi,” she greets. “Sabrina, was it?” She ignores Chloe’s sudden knowing grin.
“Sarah,” ‘Sabrina’ corrects. Her smile is tight and there is a certain air of forced nonchalance, but Beca is used to spotting recognition in people’s eyes by now. Fake. “Have we met before? Do you work here?”
Chloe snorts. “No, this is Beca Mitchell. My girlfriend.”
Beca refrains from gloating or saying something incredibly stupid but incredibly true like you might have heard me on the radio. That would be inappropriate. Maybe later. “Hi,” she says again. “How do you two know each other?”
Chloe clears her throat. “Family friends,” Chloe explains, then hesitates. “...And we dated in high school. A fling.” One glance at Sarah and Beca can tell that she doesn’t necessarily agree. “We’ve still kept in touch from time to time though.”
“Mainly through social media.”
“Are you playing today?” Chloe asks quickly.
“As if your parents would allow me to sit out.” Sarah sighs. “My family versus yours. Just like old times.”
Chloe’s hand comes up slowly to slip into the back pocket of Beca’s jeans discreetly. “Yeah, just like old times. I’ll see you out there.”
Beca resists from sticking her tongue out. She pulls her hair over her shoulders so Sarah can see her name emblazoned on the back of the knitted sweater when they turn around.
Chloe’s hand on her ass probably helps.
— — — —
It’s fine until the game itself starts and Beca pretty much forgets about old flames who don’t matter. It starts off slow.
Beca is enjoying how handsy Chloe is, teaching her how to have proper form while both sweeping and throwing the—
“What’s this thing called?”
“A stone.” Chloe nudges it with her foot.
“A rock?” Beca leans forward to try and lift it, before nearly crashing face first onto it at the unexpected weight. “What the fuck? Why is it so heavy?”
Chloe ignores her. “You’ll want to be careful while throwing the stone,” she explains, like Beca knows what that means. “When you release it, put a turn on it. It’s all very precise,” Chloe says with some reverence in her tone.
“That’s one word for it,” Beca mumbles. She tilts her head, watching Chloe stretch out her legs and how nice she looks in those jeans. "But uh, show me again?"
— — — —
Beca has seen some clips of people curling and maybe she snuck off to the bathroom five minutes earlier to quickly rewatch the two-minute video Chloe had showed her the day before, but she is still surprised by the amount of passion Chloe’s entire family seems to have for the sport. Even Chloe’s father whom Beca had exchanged three whole sentences with (he’s her favorite so far) is suddenly yelling incomprehensible things down the ice while Chloe and her brothers take turns sweeping. Beca tilts her head, admiring how focused Chloe is even if Beca thinks she looks a little ridiculous. Still, she darts over to her phone off to the side and snaps as many pictures as she can, intent on sending them to the Bellas group chat.
But Beca feels jealousy surge through her at the way Chloe’s high school flame (high school exes are nothing) is eyeing Chloe from the other team. All kinds of inappropriate things float through Beca’s mind even if Chloe isn’t paying any attention to Sarah. Casually and not at all awkwardly, she wraps an arm around Chloe’s waist, pulling her into a side hug.
Chloe leans into her, tilting her head to press a quick kiss to Beca’s cheek. “What’s up babe?” she asks, watching the ice intently.
Beca’s brow furrows as she tries to refocus on the ice, trying to see what Chloe sees.
She has no idea what she’s looking at and she still doesn’t fucking understand curling.
“Nothing,” Beca finally says. “Just cold.”
— — — —
It is the jealousy. It has to be. Or is it possessiveness?
Some innate and stupid primitive instinct is triggered and Beca finds herself agreeing when Chloe’s younger sister Madison politely asks if Beca wants to have a turn on their family’s team.
— — — —
It’s honestly fine. The game moves at an odd pace, with a small amount of waiting around, a balance between fast and slow.
Beca sweeps, attempting to put some amount of force into it and stops trying not to think about how fucking awkward it is to hear her girlfriend’s father yelling at her from the giant target. Not to mention traumatizing. The curling rock-thing (“stone,” a voice corrects) slides into the gigantic target (“house,” Chloe had said earlier. Beca hadn’t questioned it.) and Beca is somehow done.
She’s still standing upright.
Chloe is surprised, but admiration and delight still shine in her eyes as she applauds Beca’s sweeping efforts. Chloe’s father nods approvingly and Chloe’s mother squeezes her shoulders affectionately. Beca, who has no idea whether she did anything helpful, simply accepts the praise and the kisses Chloe places on her cheeks.
“Do you know what you just did?” Cooper asks Beca out of the corner of his mouth.
“No idea,” Beca responds. He laughs and side-hugs her, making Beca feel inexplicably happy at the inclusion.
Clearly a little high off Chloe’s affection and praise—as well as her family’s acceptance of her subpar curling skills—Beca agrees to throw by some magical Christmas force.
— — — —
The fucking stone weighs as much as she does.
First of all, it takes a couple tries to even push herself with the weigh in her hand.
Second, Beca is not expecting being dragged across the fucking ice.
Third, she noise she makes as she goes down is entirely unexpected and totally uncool.
Fuck.
— — — —
Suddenly Beca is blinking, lifting her head from the ice. Nothing really hurts, but her face stings a little.
She’s mostly glad she isn’t crying, but Jesus—she can’t even look to see everybody’s expression.
“Oh my God!” Chloe’s voice sounds, cutting through the laughter. Beca groans, turning over just as Chloe’s hands grab at her shoulders, helping her sit up. “Beca,” she whispers. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I just—” Beca shakes her head. “I’m fine,” she mutters quickly, embarrassed beyond belief. “Did we win?” she tries, going for levity.
Chloe shakes her head. “Let’s go home,” she murmurs. “Let me help you, baby.”
For a second, Beca considers protesting. She considers shaking Chloe’s hands off her and pushing herself off the ice herself. She doesn’t need help walking—she can do that herself.
But slowly, something changes in the air—and then all at once. Chloe is so concerned and so caring in such a specific way that it sends a flutter of emotions straight to Beca’s chest and she finds herself breathless once more. Standing slowly, Beca keeps her eyes on Chloe’s face even as Chloe leads her off to the side. Both of them, for the time being, ignore the laughter still sounding. Beca, however, doesn’t find herself caring much about whether anybody’s laughing at her, not anymore.
Not when she’s won.
“Beca,” Chloe says again a little urgently. “Are you okay?” Her arms come up to wrap Beca in a hug, pressing their bodies close together as if Chloe thinks the warmth of her body will somehow regenerate the brain cells Beca lost from the light smack of her head against the ground. Beca isn’t complaining. She nuzzles into Chloe’s neck, finding comfort in how close she feels to Chloe then. Chloe, clearly confused but choosing not to say anything, simply tightens her arms around Beca.
“I love you,” Beca whispers finally, voice only just loud enough to be heard over the music and voices echoing all around them. She’s clutching on to Chloe’s arms in the middle of a curling game between Chloe’s family and her family friends. Chloe looks both concerned and on the verge of laughing, her lips constantly twitching like she can’t decide which emotion to settle on. Beca still doesn’t understand the sport and she doesn’t understand how anybody could dedicate their entire life to something like this.
But at the same time, she gets it—that unexpected dedication to something. Unexpectedly enjoying something she previously thought was lame. Falling in love in the most unexpected of places.
So, loving Chloe—it’s not a new revelation. It was born out of a seed planted years and years ago. Loving Chloe was the easy part. Loving Chloe—it’s weeks old, months old, years old, and staring at Chloe now, she’s sure Chloe knows. But finally saying it aloud after years of dancing around each other and months of finally having each other…Beca feels some of the weight on her chest ease up—as light as she had felt when the rock (“stone, Beca” she hears briefly in her mind—a voice that sounds eerily like Aubrey’s) finally left her hand after dragging her across the ice for an embarrassing distance; she feels as breathless and airborne as she had felt just before she had skidded across the pebbled ice, almost face-first towards what she had felt like a very certain death.
“I love you,” Beca repeats, just to hear herself say it again. She tilts her head back to observe Chloe’s expression and catches the reddening of Chloe’s cheeks. She can see it especially well because of how close they’re standing. As well, Chloe’s heart skips a beat. Beca knows this because she feels it.
(Or it’s a fantastic figment of her imaginationone born out of a concussion from curling.
Fucking curling.)
Somehow, even amidst all the noise, Beca feels silence descend upon them. This is a frequent occurrence now, since she agreed to go home with Chloe for Christmas. Moments where she should have filled the air between them with the three words she hadn’t yet said. That they both haven’t said to each other.
But this silence is good because Chloe’s smile is brilliant and vibrant. Her response comes only a second later, but her voice is sure, even if she is also whispering. “I love you too, Beca.”
Beca feels impossibly warm suddenly, like somebody finally opened up the ceiling to the building and the sun finally took its chance to burst past the clouds above. Warmer than Los Angeles. Warmer than even her favorite comforter.
Warmth like Beca has never felt before on Christmas.
Warmth because Chloe’s parents are smiling at her like she belongs and they wouldn’t have anybody else for their daughter. Warmth because Beca is wearing an admittedly adorable family sweater, clearly meant only for the most important people in Chloe’s family.
“Thank you,” Beca murmurs, still unable to think of anything else to say. “I love you,” she repeats again, almost with a hint of awe. Just because she can. She twists to press the softest of kisses to Chloe’s lips, briefly squeezing Chloe’s arms. She refrains from adding that she literally almost died, anticipating that Chloe probably wouldn’t appreciate that. “But let’s never play this again,” Beca suggests against Chloe’s mouth, unable to help herself. “We can make new Christmas traditions.”
Chloe chuckles and runs a hand through Beca’s hair, smiling at how ruffled Beca looks from the hat she had been wearing. “Deal,” she agrees, sounding a little teary, but immensely happy.
Together they shuffle off the ice, hearts full.
fin.

Home is Where the Heart Is
I’m posting a little late, even by American standards, but I made it in time! A merry pitchmas to @snowbritt and all of you wonderful people. I haven’t posted any fanfic in a while so this may be a bit rusty.
Summary: When the Bellas find out they’ll be getting a house and sharing bedrooms, Beca tries to use the opportunity to get close to Chloe. When she doesn’t act fast enough, she spends the following months pining after Chloe and trying to find a chance to get close to her. Beca gets her wish in an unexpected way.

“Dear Barden Bellas,
Due to your recent streak of wins at the ICCA finals, we have decided it is only fair to award you the way we have awarded our other prestigious acapella groups in the past. We have secured the funding and approval to build a lodging house for all current and future Bellas to reside in throughout their time at Barden University. The proposed blueprints are attached…”
Beca was cut off by the screaming. The girls couldn’t believe it. They had won back-to-back ICCA championships and now they were being given their very own building. They could finally practice outside Barden’s tiny black box theatre, free from the drama kids who kicked them out so they could rehearse and the motion lights that sometimes left them singing in the dark, like some kind of cult-
“Wait a minute,” Fat Amy interrupted everybody celebrating, “this floor plan only includes six bedrooms.”
“Well then I guess we’re gonna have to double up.” Cynthia Rose said, eyeing Stacie.
“I wanna be with Jessica.” “I wanna be with Ashley.” Ashley and Jessica said at the same time.
“And we have to save one room for the new Bellas.” Beca added. The girls began to talk amongst themselves again when Fat Amy quietly approached Beca.
“How about it, shortstack?” She said, leaning in. “I promise to give you ample warning about any gentleman callers I may have.”
“Yes… I mean no… I mean what?”
“This is like the third time I’ve caught you daydreaming today; you have GOT to tell me what is on your mind before you wander into traffic or something.”
“How is telling you gonna stop me from wandering into traffic?”
“It’s not, but I won’t be able to hear your gossip if you’re in a coma.”
Beca sighed and lowered her voice even further. “Listen, if I promise to give you more details later, will you be chill about letting me room with Chloe?”
“Chloe?” Fat Amy questioned. “She takes forever to get ready before every practice and recital, which YOU were complaining about just last week. Are you sure you’ll be able to deal with Chloe’s daily makeup routine when you’re sharing a bathroom?”
“It’s not that big of a deal, I could get used to it.” Beca shrugged.
“What’s going on?”
They were interrupted by Stacie calling everyone to attention. “Okay! So the room assignments are gonna be one free room for new recruits, Ashley & Jessica, Denise & Cynthia Rose, Fat Amy & Beca, me & Chloe, and… Lilly sleeps in a room by herself. We all good with that?” The Bellas voiced their agreement.
“Fuck.” Beca muttered to herself.
The girls began to scatter, some still chattering excitedly about the Bella House, which would be ready by the Fall semester. When almost everyone had cleared, Fat Amy turned back to Beca. “You wanna tell me what that was about?”
“I may have… developed a crush on a certain Bella.” Beca said, turning beet red.
“No way!” Fat Amy whisper-yelled. “Let me guess. Is it Stacie? Her legs are about as long as you are, so you get a good view.”
“It is NOT Stacie. Although you do have a good point about the view.”
“Well who is it then?”
Beca took in a deep breath, preparing to unload her secret. She breathed again, and as she exhaled, she said “Chloe.”
“Chloe?? Of course! The first time you met you were naked and it did something to you, psychologically.”
“It was the second time, and she just, wouldn’t leave my shower until I sang with her and I did and then I joined the Bellas and everything was totally fine.”
“And you JUST developed this crush?”
“It’s possible I was too traumatized by the event to understand my feelings until recently.”
“Yeah, or you’re just a clueless girl who fell in love with an even more clueless boy for like, eight months before you broke up because you realized you have feelings for a girl in your acapella group. Which, by the way, was bound to happen, with the amount of time the nine of us spend together.”
“Damn Amy, have you actually been paying attention in your psychology class?”
“Enough to know that you’ve got the hots for your redheaded best friend, and your life is only gonna get worse if you don’t tell her about it.”
“What do I even say?”
“That one’s on you, loverboy. Now, I gotta get out of here and meet a gentleman caller.”
Beca quirked an eyebrow. She was going to need to find a way to tell Chloe her feelings before the living arrangements were settled.
-
Beca did not find a way to tell Chloe her feelings before the living arrangements were settled.
Fall came in the blink of an eye and she found herself face-to-face with a slew of problems, including arranging new Bellas routines, her music theory professor who seemed to have it out for her, and the fact that she had a growing crush on her best friend and acapella group co-leader. Things were off to a great start.
The summer spent apart had only deepened Beca’s feelings, which was irritating. It didn’t help that she and Chloe spent a ton of time together choreographing dances for the competitions later in the year. Whenever the girls had to pair up, Chloe walked straight to Beca, grabbing her wrists with intention. Like she knew exactly what she was doing. Like she belonged there.
“Bec?” Chloe had clearly been trying to get Beca’s attention.
“Huh? What?” Beca’s train of thought was broken.
“Are you ready to show them the moves we came up with?”
Beca nodded eagerly, attempting to make up for spacing out earlier. “Yep. Totally. Let’s do this.”
Chloe started leading Beca around the makeshift rehearsal area they had created in the Bella House’s living room. They had to move the couches around and it wasn’t as big as Barden’s black box but at least it didn’t smell like feet. It was easier to focus on what was in front of her, which, at the moment, was a certain redhead.
Chloe smelled like clean laundry and cherry blossoms, a product of the showers that were much easier to take now that she didn’t have to use a communal bathroom built for thirty people. Chloe may take a while to get ready, but Stacie takes even longer, and sometimes Chloe walks down the hall to Beca and Amy’s room and borrows their shower. Their bathroom smells like vanilla and cherry blossoms for hours afterward, and it drives Beca nuts in the best way possible. She watched Chloe perform the new routine with confidence, poise, and accuracy, and she felt her breath hitch in her chest.
What she didn’t feel was the edge of the coffee table as she tripped and fell backward onto its hard surface, banging her head. After everyone’s initial shock had passed, they went to check on Beca to make sure she was okay.
“I’m fine.” Beca stated assuredly. “Really, the worst thing I hurt is my ego.”
“Your head sounded like a bowling ball hitting the floor” Lilly said, almost imperceptibly.
“BECA!” Fat Amy shouted. “CAN YOU SAY YOUR A-B-C’S BACKWARDS?” She was speaking more slowly than normal.
“You know I can hear you right?”
“And isn’t that supposed to be for sobriety tests?” Cynthia Rose asked.
While they had been chatting, Chloe had sat down next to Beca and helped her sit up. She had her hand on Beca’s back, propping her up just in case she felt dizzy.
“Are you okay?” Chloe asked concernedly.
“I’m fine,” Beca repeated, much softer this time, “really.”
Chloe was looking into Beca’s eyes, just checking her pupils. Such a clinical action, but Chloe made it seem so tender. She ran her hand up Beca’s neck to the back of her head, feeling for any irregularities. Beca felt chills run up her spine as Chloe rubbed her fingers across her scalp. She hoped she wasn’t being too obvious.
Chloe pulled back. “The bad news is you might have a small concussion. The good news is that lump on your head just may make you taller.”
“Ha-ha.” Beca fake laughed.
Stacie chimed in, “I had a concussion once and my doctor told me not to sleep. Wait. It was either my doctor or my mom. I don’t remember.”
“I think the best thing for Beca to do is to go lie down.” Cynthia Rose added.
“Does that have anything to do with you not wanting to practice the new routine?” Beca quipped from the table.
“If I carry you to your room can I not answer that question?” Cynthia Rose replied.
“Fair enough.”
Cynthia Rose crossed the living room to scoop Beca into her arms, and was about to lift her off the table when Fat Amy piped up. “Uh, um, Beca can’t stay in our room.”
“Why not?” Beca squinted at her roommate.
“Because… I’m going to have... a gentleman caller….. or two….. this evening.” She began to trail off near the end.
“Right on.” Stacie nodded in Fat Amy’s direction.
“Okay so where am I taking Beca to?” Cynthia Rose asked, still positioned to lift Beca.
“How about my room?” Chloe, who had been sitting quietly next to Beca for some time now finally rejoined the conversation.
Beca tried to be cool, looking at Stacie. “Is that alright?”
Stacie nodded. “Yeah, sure, I was planning on going out after this anyway.”
“Great, then it’s settled.” Cynthia Rose said. “I’m carrying Beca to Chloe’s room.”
-
They quickly discovered that Cynthia Rose couldn’t carry Beca up the stairs wedding-style. So it turned into Chloe and Cynthia Rose flanking Beca on each side in case she became dizzy after hitting her head.
“I feel like a fucking hospice patient.” Beca half-joked as they reached Chloe’s room and they helped her lie down on the bed.
“I got it from here, C. Rose thank you.” Chloe said, ushering her out and gently closing the door behind her. She turned off most of the lights in the room except for some string lights and a single lamp that emitted a soft pink glow.
“Wow, you went hardcore doctor out there.” Beca said a bit jokingly.
“This is like, my seventh year of school. If I can’t recognize a concussion when I see one I should just quit now and go back to clown camp with Aubrey.”
“Yeah I… I’m sorry BACK to clown camp?!?”
“It was a dark summer in middle school.”
“You owe me a story Beale.”
“I don’t owe you anything Mitchell.”
The two locked eyes from across the room and Beca felt her heart jump into her throat again. Good thing she was already lying down this time; nowhere to fall.
Beca relented. “How about an ice pack?”
Chloe nodded, a contented look crossing her face. “That I can do.”
She returned moments later with an ice pack, an extra blanket, and a box of chocolate chip cookies.
“Oh my God.” Beca stated when she saw the care package Chloe had assembled for her.
“I thought you might want the rest of these before they were devoured.” Chloe said, handing Beca the cookies.
Beca quickly opened the package and grabbed a cookie to chow down on. As she was popping the dessert into her mouth, she unthinkingly said “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Chloe said, perched on the side of her bed. She seemed more sincere than Beca was expecting. She awkwardly swallowed the large bite of cookie she had in her mouth in an attempt to change the topic as quickly as possible.
“So I’m concussed?” Beca asked, reaching for the blanket to put over her legs.
“Yep.” Chloe stated. “Couldn’t keep up with my choreo, huh?” She winked, handing Beca the ice pack. Beca didn’t want to talk about the real reason she injured herself: that she was too busy watching Chloe dance to pay attention to her own feet.
“You know I’m a notoriously bad dancer.”
“Is that why you always need my help during practice?”
“Yeah, if it wasn’t for you I would have done this like ten times already. I’m taking advantage of your veterinary health training.”
“Always good to be able to practice on someone who can give me feedback.”
“As long as you don’t shove a thermometer up my ass.”
“Well, Stacie IS gone for the rest of the night…”
“Watch it, Beale.”
The pair laughed for a second before settling into a comfortable silence. Chloe sat on the edge of the bed, tracing swirling patterns in her sheets. Beca looked around at the room she missed out on at the end of the last semester. It wasn’t all that different from her own; the only important difference was the girl she was in the room with.
When it became clear that Chloe wasn’t going to leave, Beca began to ask questions. “No plans tonight, huh? You’re not having a tinder-venture like Stacie or whatever the hell Amy is doing in our bedroom?”
Chloe chuckled. “No, nothing like that. I haven’t really gone out on a date in a while. Besides, I want to make sure you’re okay!” Chloe moved closer and fussed with Beca’s blanket.
“I appreciate the gesture, Chlo, but you’ve definitely got better things to be doing on a Friday night.” “Nothing more important than you.” Chloe looked up, meeting Beca’s eyes and offering a smile. Beca sheepishly looked away. Was that as serious as it sounded? Probably not, right?
“Do you mind if I…?” Chloe trailed off, motioning to her covers.
“Do I mind if you sleep in your own bed? No, not at all, just help me get over into Stacie’s bed.” Beca began to push herself up with her arms.
“You don’t have to move, actually.” Chloe said. Another surprise.
“Are you sure? It’s not that big of a deal.”
“Please, Beca. It’ll be easier. I’ll even let you be the little spoon.”
Beca scoffed. “What makes you think I want to be the little spoon?”
“Don’t you?”
Beca hesitated. “…….Fine.” She scooted over and allowed Chloe to slide in next to her. She could feel the warmth from Chloe’s body contrasting the ice pack she had been holding to her head.
“Is this good for concussions too?”
“Yep. Vet’s orders.” Chloe said as she settled in.
After a few minutes had passed, Beca spoke again.
“You know, I wanted this room really bad before we all moved in together.”
“Really? Aw Bec, you should have said something sooner. I’m sure Stacie and I would have been fine in your room-”
“It’s not really about the room. More like, the roommate.” Beca felt her stomach drop as she began to hint at her feelings for Chloe.
“Oh.” Chloe just said back.
Oh God. Oh fuck I’ve ruined everything I can’t believe I just came onto her like that-
”That’s really sweet of you Bec.”
Beca couldn’t believe it. The world was still intact, somehow. She inched backward into Chloe, and felt the redhead silently move closer to her at the same time. They fell asleep with their legs tangled, both tired from the long day.
-
The next morning Beca woke up early to a throbbing in the back of her head.
Ah, fuck. Beca thought to herself as she reached back to rub the tender part of her scalp, still half asleep. She was surprised to grab onto a face just behind her own.
“Good morning to you too.” Chloe said, muffled by Beca’s hand.
Beca turned over. “Shit. Sorry about that. What time is it?”
“Like… 8:30 on a Saturday. Are you late for morning yoga?”
“Fuck you.” Beca laughed and poked Chloe’s shoulder. “Ah man. I really stayed in here the whole night.”
“And you only snored a little bit.” Chloe joked, still lying down on the pillow.
“She’s feisty in the morning!” Beca retorted, eliciting a smile from Chloe. They were face to face now. Inches from each other. Beca watched the soft morning light filter in over Chloe’s face. Her hair was shining. She could see each fleck of gold in Chloe’s big blue eyes. Beca couldn’t help but think how beautiful she looked.
The moments passed by silently as the girls enjoyed the most intimate moment either of them had experienced in a long time.
“Beca?”
“Yeah Chloe?”
“Would you be okay if I kissed you right now?”
Beca didn’t even give herself time to think before blurting out “Yes.” And in an instant, Chloe’s mouth was on hers. The kisses were delicate and sleepy, but full of the spark that had been building between them since the first time they sang together. When they needed to pull away for air, Beca took a moment to marvel at what was happening. “Woah.” She said, a look of incredulity on her face. “Did Chloe Beale just kiss me?”
Chloe nodded and the biggest smile spread across her face. “Sure did, Beca Mitchell.”
Chloe dove back in for more kisses and Beca eagerly responded, only interrupted by Beca’s brief cries of pain when Chloe’s hand accidentally wandered to the bump on the back of her head.
-
That afternoon Beca made her way back down the hall to her bedroom so she could get ready for the day. She ran into Fat Amy eating a popsicle on her bed.
“Amy, you’ll never believe what happened this morning.” Beca began.
“Let me guess, you finally sealed the deal with ginger?”
“How did-“
“It was my plan all along Beca! Do you think it’s a coincidence that I kicked you out of the room last night?”
“I thought you were seeing someone. ones. whatever.”
“I lied so you could get into Chloe’s room and make some music with your mouths.”
“Amy!”
“I TOLD you I would always give you ample warning when I had any gentleman callers! Because I’m a decent roommate, Beca, and I’m even better because I got you hooked up with your ladycrush.”
“Was it your plan for me to get a concussion too?”
“Sometimes you just have to seize the moment.” Fat Amy said, swinging her popsicle around emphatically.
“Wait a minute. Aren’t those the ones I bought?” Beca said, nodding at the popsicle.
“Ah yeah. See. I may have taken the last one as a reward for being a fantastic matchmaker-slash-roommate. I figured helping you get with Chloe would outweigh my poor decisions.”
Beca rolled her eyes. “You’re lucky Chloe is so great, otherwise you would owe me a new box of popsicles.”
The End.

Santa's Little Helper - Merry Pitchmas 2019
Merry Pitchmas to @brandneweyesx!
Summary: Beca needs to earn some extra cash so Chloe hooks her up with a job at the mall. And maybe her motives aren't totally innocent.
Rated: T
(Also on AO3)
“Just cover me one more time; you know I’m good for it,” Beca says, giving her best big doe-eyes that she knows will win over Chloe. She doesn’t take advantage of the known weakness that often, but it’s useful when she does.
She watches Chloe sigh yet nod in agreement. “Okay. You know, if you’re so broke, I could try to put in a good word at a few of the stores in the mall. They all staff up for the holidays.”
Beca’s instinct is to reject it; she’s busy enough as it is with figuring out how the Bellas will defend their national title and repeat as champions. Oh, and attending class. She does that most days, too. She’s also flat broke as a result of her packed schedule and Chloe’s paid Beca’s share of the Bella house bills for the last three months.
“Fine,” Beca says, resigned. “But nothing lame like Cinnabon or hocking hand lotions at a kiosk. Get me in at Journeys or Sunglass Hut. Somewhere I can get a discount on stuff I actually want to buy.”
She smiles into Chloe’s shoulder when she gets tackled by a wholly unnecessary and welcome hug. “I’ll do my best. I can’t believe we’re going to work together!”
“Do not get me a job at Victoria’s Secret.”
“What—too tempting to look at all the pretty girls?”
“Shut up,” Beca huffs while pushing Chloe off her. She schools her face into a strong pout with a hefty glare that earns her a giggly kiss to her cheek.
“Don’t worry,” Chloe says, voice dropping to a whisper, “your secret’s safe with me.”
Beca’s pout turns into a furious blush. She’s still getting used to the whole someone-knows-she’s-gay thing. Chloe was the first—and remains the only—person she’s come out to. It’s been kind of nice getting to talk about it, even if it feels a lot like learning to ride a bike without training wheels.
It’s helped that Chloe had made no secret about her own bisexuality, and her current favorite hobby is quietly pointing out (or texting pictures of) girls she thinks Beca might find attractive and prodding her for an opinion. It’s also often accompanied with, “I can talk to her for you if you want.”
Beca’s been dismissive of the options, begrudgingly admitting that, “Yes, that girl is pretty,” but, “No, please don’t talk to her for me.”
“I don’t think I’m ready for that,” is the reason she provides when Chloe asks why not.
“What if we went on a date instead?” is the answer she wishes she could give,” but, “No, please don’t talk to her for me.”
“I don’t think I’m ready for that,” is the reason she provides when Chloe asks why not.
“What if we went on a date instead?” is the answer she wishes she was brave enough to give instead.
“Okay, no lingerie stores,” Chloe laughs, interrupting Beca’s thoughts. “Let me see what I can rustle up for you.”
~-~-~-~-~-~-~
When Beca shows up at the mall the following Thursday afternoon, she’s there via what seems like one step away from an illegal hustle based on the lack of information provided by the man who had called her.
“Southeast entrance. 4:00. Ask for Randall.”
Turns out the southeast entrance isn’t where she’s going; a man identified as Randall leads her through a service entrance and into a network of nondescript, neutral-colored hallways. She’s considering texting Chloe and asking what exactly she’s about to walk into or if she needs to have her family prepare ransom money when Randall pushes open a door into an employee locker room.
Her apprehension eases considerably at the normalcy that comes with it. Just walls of blue lockers, a few benches, and a vending machine.
“163,” he says, pointing vaguely.
“They’re assigned? What is this, high school?” she asks with a laugh, only he doesn’t laugh back and she sobers, apprehension immediately returning. She follows his orders though, glad to put some distance between them, and pops the latch on locker 163.
“What is this?” she asks, pointing at its contents as she turns around, but Randall is already leaving and has offered no further instruction or clarity. “Cool, cool, cool,” she says with a nod as she turns back to face her reality.
~-~-~-~-~-~-~
“We need to talk,” she texts Chloe, accompanied by a photo of the atrocious red and green outfit hanging in her locker before stuffing her phone into the pocket of her green skirt (at least it has pockets). The candy cane-striped leggings are itchy, the corsetted top is, in her opinion, too racy for Christmas, and honestly, don’t even get her started on the hat.
At least she can wear her own boots.
Unsure where to go, she stomps out the same exit Randall had gone and nearly runs into the man waiting on the other side of the door.
“Let’s go,” he says before dialing a number on a weirdly out-of-date flip phone.
“So, are you going to tell me what’s going on? I mean, I have a pretty good idea but it’d be nice to know—“
She stops mid-sentence when a door opens and she’s pushed (not led) right into the open floor of the shopping center just meters away from what is clearly the back of the mall’s installation of Santa’s Workshop, a noisy, bright monstrosity designed as a cash-grab for parents who need Instagram content. She’s avoided it like the plague every season while shopping, and now it seems the avoidance has ricocheted back upon her ten-fold.
She turns around looking for Randall but he’s gone and the door she was booted through is closed and the only thing left for her to do is to explore the obvious: she approaches the back door of the workshop and knocks while considering ding-dong-ditching.
The door swings open and a man that looks to be about her age, maybe a bit younger, sticks his head out. He’s dressed similarly but has a noticeable amount of rouge on his cheeks and he’s definitely wearing body glitter. “Beca?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“Just in time; I need a damn break. Get in here.”
She’s half-pulled into the structure which is much less magical inside than its exterior, save for a few deliberately placed decorations that can be seen if one looks in from the front windows. There are a couple of overstuffed chairs, a Christmas tree, a fake fireplace, and a plain table and chairs that sit in the back out of sight for employees. “Um, I don’t really know what I’m doing here. Literally and figuratively,” she adds hoping for at least a smile but instead, she gets a blank stare.
“You’re an elf. Go be an elf.” With that, her new, nameless coworker disappears out the back as if such an explanation is suitable for someone’s first day on a job, as basic as it might seem.
“And a Merry Christmas to you,” she says with a sarcastic bow in his direction. She checks her phone expecting a response form Chloe but she hasn’t replied so she does the only thing she can do.
She puts her phone away and opens the front door of Santa’s Workshop to the cheers (and screams) of children and a loud, “Ho, ho, ho! Here’s another of my little helpers!” from an unimpressive mall Santa who looks at her with what should be a criminal level of disdain. Or pity. “Well, let’s not keep the good girls and boys waiting!” He gestures at the line that has no end in sight and Beca figures there’s only one thing to do.
“Okay, little guy,” she says, reaching out to take the hand of the next child in line, “let’s visit Santa!”
She’s going to have some very strong words for Chloe when she sees her tonight.
~-~-~-~-~-~-~
“Dude, you said you were going on a break! It’s been at least two hours,” she whispers harshly under her breath when the elf she replaced returns. All he offers is a shrug and takes up a position at the front of the line to pass off the children to Beca.
At least she doesn’t have to walk back and forth trying to control the kids anymore. If they make it as far as her, most of them are agreeable to her lifting them on to Santa’s lap without too much of a fuss.
Her back is aching by the time someone tells her that she can take a dinner break and her hands are so uncomfortably sticky that she knows she’s destined to wake up puking tomorrow thanks to some illness she’s acquired. She pushes through the front door of the workshop and makes a beeline for the giant pump bottle of hand sanitizer, briefly considering bathing with it but settles on slathering it only on her hands and arms.
A check of her phone reveals to her her worst nightmare.
A photo, sent from Chloe, of Beca standing on the porch of Santa’s Workshop looking less than impressed by her situation, staring off into the distance contemplating her existence.
Only the photo was sent to the Bellas’ group chat, not just Beca, and there are at least fifty texts of varying levels of amusement and threats of blackmail that follow it.
She’s typing out a message intended just for Chloe to convey her irritation as she exits through the back door only to find the would-be recipient of her words waiting for her wearing exactly the smile Beca imagined her sporting when she sent her evil, evil photo to the girls.
“You!” she growls, her stride changing to stalk toward her co-captain. “You knew about this!”
“You asked me to get you a job, Bec!” Chloe says, voice so high and eyes so bright with mirth that it’s impossible for Beca to maintain any level of ill-will toward her. “So I got you a job.”
Beca pokes her squarely in the chest. “This wasn’t what I had in mind.”
“No?”
“I specifically said nothing lame.”
“It’s not lame,” Chloe grins. “I love Christmas!”
“Right. You love Christmas.”
Her correction goes unnoticed (or ignored) by Chloe. “I knew you’d make a good elf.”
Beca crosses her arms. “And why is that? Choose your words carefully.”
“Because I knew you’d look adorable in the costume.” Her eyes roam Beca in what feels like a slightly invasive manner. “And I was right.”
Beca blushes despite herself. “I look like an idiot.”
“But an adorable idiot. Are you on break?”
Beca lets her comment slide. “Yeah.”
“Awes. Me, too. Let’s go to the food court.”
~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Beca should have known that going to the food court in full elf attire would garner attention, especially from children. They flocked to her asking about Santa like pigeons to tossed breadcrumbs and if not for the stupidly cute way Chloe watched her while it happened, she would have probably done something to get herself fired on her first day, like yelling that Santa isn’t even real and to get the fuck away from her.
“You know you owe me. Big time,” she says as Chloe walks her back to the workshop.
“If I’m not mistaken, you actually owe me. That’s why you’re here.
“Right,” Beca grumbles.
“But seeing you dressed up like this is definitely worth more than the money you owe me. Let’s call it even.”
“What? Dude, no,” Beca says, feeling immensely guilty that Chloe’s offering to forgive the nearly $100 she owes. “I’ll pay you back.”
She feels Chloe grab her hand once they’re behind the workshop and sidle up alongside her to whisper conspiratorially. “Tell you what: give me a private tour of Santa’s Workshop after you close. Then we’ll call it even.”
Beca’s stomach flip-flops, maybe from the mall sushi she just ate or maybe from Chloe being so close and sounding so suggestive. “I don’t think I’m supposed to do that.”
Chloe clicks her tongue and the fact that it happens so close to Beca’s ear makes her shiver. “Everyone knows Santa’s Workshop after-hours is the place to be. You just have to know someone to get in. And now I know you.”
Beca can’t help but smirk a little. “You make it sound like it’s the hottest new club.”
“Well, maybe not quite,” Chloe says with a shrug and puts a bit of space between them once again. “But I do want to see it.”
“It’s just a big empty box.”
“Then who cares if I see it?” Damn Chloe and her logic.
“Fine. What time does this thing close? I don’t even know who my supervisor is. Or when my shift ends.”
“Mall closes at 9:00. Santa at 8:30.”
Beca checks her very non-elf-like watch and groans that it’s only 6:30. “Then meet me here at 8:30.”
Chloe gives her one of her excited squeals and a kiss on her cheek before scampering away back toward her much less lame job at Aeropostale with a wave.
~-~-~-~-~-~-~
She spots Chloe spying on her in the open plaza of the mall when she’s helping the other elf close up the workshop (which involves little more than placing a sign in front of the door that reads Santa’s checking his lists - come back tomorrow!) and she throws a glare or two her way.
Chloe laughs at them and when Beca disappears into the workshop house to exit through the back, she sees Chloe all but skipping around it to meet her. Beca lets her fellow elf depart first who stops when he almost bumps into Chloe waiting at the back door. Beca’s immediate reaction is to panic that she’s in trouble but instead, he turns around smiling and says, “Nice one, honey. And on your first day.”
She doesn’t have a chance to ask what he means because he’s out the door and Chloe’s stepping in, closing it behind her.
“Why did he look at me that way?” Beca asks, trying to catch sight of him through a side window as he departs.
“I don’t know,” Chloe says airly. “This is cool!”
“Uh, sure,” Beca says as she steps aside so Chloe can explore what little there is to the place. She watches her try out both chairs, wondering aloud which one is Santa’s and which one is Mrs. Claus’s while taking more than one selfie.
“Come sit on my lap,” Chloe says and it makes Beca wonder if she heard correctly.
“What?”
“Come on,” she repeats, patting it. “Don’t think I’m not getting a picture with Santa’s cutest elf in his workshop.”
“Oh, my God, stop,” Beca says with a roll of her eyes. “I’ll do it, but only if I get photo approval.”
“Deal,” Chloe grins, holding out her arms expectantly.
As if it’s really some big chore for Beca.
She perches cautiously on Chloe’s knee only to get pulled back until Chloe’s arm is around her waist, the other poised in the air with her phone at the ready.
“Say, ‘Have a holly jolly Christmas!’”
“Not saying that,” Beca says but she smiles for the photos anyway.
A few minutes and many photos (and one photo approval) later, Chloe has a new Instagram post and Beca has days of ridicule lying ahead. She’s also still basically on Chloe’s lap, the two of them shifting to share the chair, though Beca’s legs have to drape awkwardly over Chloe’s to fit.
“You know,” Chloe starts as she wiggles to get her phone into her pocket, “I’ve worked at this mall for three Christmases and I’ve never been invited to the workshop.”
“Should I know why that’s significant?”
“Well,” she says as she settles again, her free hand now taking up Beca’s to start playing with her fingers absentmindedly, “this is totes the make-out spot in the mall.”
Beca nearly chokes. “What?”
“I told you: it’s VIP. You have to be invited. It’s like, the law of the mall.”
“And you thought making me an elf would get you in? Dude, I’m not going to be a lookout while you hook up with someone in here.”
“No, silly,” Chloe laughs. “I didn’t mean that. I wanted you to invite me.”
Beca feels like her ears are on fire. “What?”
“You wanna make out?”
Beca’s sure she’s now entirely engulfed in flames, and Chloe’s hand resting on her hip isn’t helping matters. “Dude, what?”
“We don’t have to,” Chloe quickly follows with. “Unless...unless you want to? Maybe? I’m not trying to make anything weird, I just thought, you know, I like you, and now that I know you like girls, too, I just thought maybe...”
Beca’s brain tunes out after that because Chloe’s turned from a giggly, cuddly friend to a rambling ball of nerves; she can even feel how tense Chloe is beneath her. She tunes out because Chloe’s asking Beca if she wants to kiss. Each other. And something about Chloe having thought about it?
“Okay.” She doesn’t know where the word comes from but her brain spits it out and it cuts off Chloe.
“...Okay?” Chloe repeats slowly, as though unsure she heard what she thinks she heard.
Beca feels seconds from full-on panic so she just nods.
“Oh. Cool,” Chloe says, the uncertainty and tension starting to ease. “So…”
“So…” Beca repeats and finds herself adjusting her position next to Chloe so they’re less cheek-to-cheek and more face-to-face.
Or lips-to-lips, as it were. Not that she’s thinking of such things. Mostly her heart os pounding in her ears and her stomach is tingling because there’s no doubt that Chloe’s staring at Beca’s mouth with intent and there’s getting to be less and less distance between them.
Beca holds her breath when they’re so close she can feel Chloe’s. But then Chloe stops.
“Are you sure?” she asks and Beca almost laughs.
“Chloe.” She hears herself and is embarrassed by how whiney it sounds but it makes Chloe’s soft lips split into a grin.
“I just wanted to hear you beg,” she whispers before erasing the last inch between them to press her lips to Beca’s.
Beca’s still reeling from the fact that Chloe is kissing her when her sassy and startingly sexy words register with Beca. She starts to pull away with a grunt of protest, not of the kiss but of Chloe’s cockiness, but Chloe laughs against her lips and slides the arm that’s been around Beca’s waist higher up her back so she can’t get far.
Beca doesn’t really want to get away from Chloe anyway. Or stop what’s currently happening. Because Chloe’s lips feel amazing touching hers and just when Beca starts to sink into it, Chloe changes things up and tilts her head in a way that makes them fit even better.
The sound Beca makes at the touch of Chloe’s tongue to her lips is just as embarrassing as whining about Chloe teasing her but the sound Chloe makes in response is the sexiest thing Beca’s ever heard.
It fuels her. Emboldens her to press a bit forward, to part her lips and let Chloe in to meet her tongue with her own.
That’s all it takes for them to be making out in the darkened Santa’s Workshop. A rambly suggestion and Beca nodding like a bobblehead. If she had known it would be that easy, maybe they could have done this a long time ago.
Not that she has any regrets. Not when Chloe’s tongue is playing with hers in a way that makes Beca think she might be showing off. Or maybe Chloe’s just an amazing kisser.
(She’s pretty sure it’s the latter.)
She doesn’t know how much time passes but eventually Chloe is the one to pull back with a satisfied-sounding groan. “God, that was really good,” she says before leaning in to kiss Beca again, a hard, fast, wet kiss that turns Beca on more in those three seconds than everything prior.
“Yeah,” Beca replies and she can hear in her own voice how breathless she sounds.
“And you look...smokin’ hot dressed up like this.”
Beca almost finds enough snark left inside her to turn that into a comment about Chloe having a weird Christmas kink, except as soon as she thinks about Chloe having kinks of any kind, her mind shuts down again and she’s the one suddenly kissing Chloe, hard, fast, and wet.
Chloe groans again when Beca pulls back and it’s all she can do to not lean right in for more. It feels too good and knowing it’s affecting Chloe like it’s affecting Beca is even better. She manages to refrain, though, because she’s noticing how dark it’s gotten. “Dude, they turned off all the lights.”
“Mall’s closed,” Chloe says, voice sounding as dreamy as she looks.
“And it’s okay for us to still be here?”
“Security will let us out. Do you want to do this again?” Chloe’s question follows her comment about security with no warning and it catches Beca off-guard.
“Uh, I mean…” she stumbles over what she should say; she doesn’t want to sound like the horny college student she is, and she doesn’t want to sound like she’s rejecting Chloe’s offer (?), but she definitely wants to do this again. “Amy’s crashing at Bumper’s tonight,” is how she answers it and it’s not until Chloe’s eyes go wide with surprise that she realizes how that sounded.
“I just meant...oh, my God,” she rushes, trying to figure out how to explain that she didn’t mean it ‘that way’ except she kind of did, just not all-the-way that way. Except despite tonight being their first kiss, she’s pretty sure she would sleep with Chloe tonight if things went that direction.
It’s not like she’s never thought about it.
“I just meant we can hang out in my room and be alone and see what happens.”
Chloe’s smiling at her struggle to answer and it only grows. “‘See what happens’? What if what happens is more of that?”
Beca thinks it’s a dumb question. Dumb dumb dumb. “Then that would be fine,” she says with a nod.
“Then let’s go home,” Chloe whispers before pulling Beca into one more kiss, all of it leaving Beca’s legs unsteady when she finally rights herself so they can leave the workshop.
“I can’t get over this,” Chloe says with a tug to Beca’s skirt before standing up as well. “Can you keep it on when we get home?”
“In your dreams.”
Chloe hums thoughtfully as she takes Beca’s hand to lead her out of the workshop and through the hidden hallways of the mall to the exit. “Oh, it will be.”
Beca has a lot of questions about that: what exactly she means, what exactly she’d be dreaming of, what exactly what’s happening means for them as friends, and if it means something more.
Instead of asking about any of that, however, she says, “I didn’t forget what you did. You’re not off the hook for this elf thing.”
The look Chloe tosses her over her shoulder makes her breath catch. “Guess I’ll have to make it up to you.”
The End

Summary: Beca is a dumbass who ends up in the E.R for Christmas Eve.
Notes: the amazingly talented @redlance had to unfortunately bow out of writing their own fic for pitchmas this year and asked me to help. thus this was born. merry pitchmas, @gaymy-raudenfeld, we're both your secret santa this year! this work was brought to you with the lovely help of my also dumbass beta @dumbacapellapotatoes

Out of all the ways to end up in the ER, of course Beca Mitchell had to be in it for the absolute dumbest one.
She should have known better than to let herself be goaded by Amy. In retrospect, everything that had started with Amy challenging Beca, one way or the other, ended up getting blown way out of proportion. Like the time during their first Spring Break when Beca got attacked by dogs in Philadelphia, or when she spent the night in jail sophomore year for destruction of property or when her car got towed a couple of months ago for being irregularly parked while they were skinny dipping on a lake.
And now, a painful trip to the E.R. on Christmas Eve after tripping over a ridiculously big Christmas gnome decoration during a snowball fight and breaking her arm was simply... awesome, just fucking marvelous, really.
What an awful fucking way to spend the holidays.

MERRY PITCHMAS
Merry Pitchmas @lets-talk-appella... I’m sorry it’s so late, I hope it’s still Christmas wherever you are!! I haven’t written bechloe in ages so I hope it’s up to standard... Enjoy!!!!! <3 And thank you @merry-pitchmas, @redlance, and @chloebeale... love you guys.
(read on ao3) or below
It was their first Christmas together, and Beca knew that meant something. Eight years of friendship and four years of dating, and in all that time, they’d never spent Christmas together.
The first years of their friendship, back when they were still in college, there hadn’t been a reason to spend Christmas together. They weren’t together and their families lived in different states. After they’d graduated and started dating, they’d still gone separate ways for the holidays, back to their individual families and relatives because it was what they’d always done. Then last year Beca had to be away from home for her debut solo tour and Chloe had gone on a cruise with her parents, so that had been that.
This year, though, they would be spending Christmas together in their small Manhattan apartment, and Beca was nervous.
It wasn’t because Christmas was Chloe’s favorite holiday and Beca had to live up to the traditions and expectations of the Beale’s Christmas plans. It wasn’t even because she didn’t think Chloe would like her presents, even the big one. She knew Chloe would like it, and she knew everything would be fine.
No, Beca was nervous because despite the certainty she felt and all these years they’d been together, this Christmas was proof that they still had firsts to share together, and sometimes new things and new beginnings were nerve-wracking.
“Open this,” Chloe said, passing her the last present. It had no particular shape, but it was soft and Beca thought it might be clothes.
“Is it socks?”
“It’s too big to be socks.”
“Mmm, I’m pretty sure it’s socks.”
Chloe rolled her eyes fondly and said nothing. Beca ripped off the paper, frowning in confusion.
Beca frowned. “This is just your old sweatshirt.”
“Well, yeah, but you steal it so much I just figured I’d give it to you,” Chloe teased.
“You are... so annoying.” But she slipped the sweatshirt over her head. When her eyes popped through the neck hole, Chloe was right up in her face. Beca squeaked out a laugh when Chloe kissed her. “Nerd.”
“Yeah. I love you.” Chloe tugged the hoodie strings so they scrunched around Beca’s face.
“Hey!”
Chloe laughed and pushed herself up. “You want some more coffee?”
“Wait!” Beca shoved her hand in her sweatpants pocket, fingers curling around the small circle she’d tucked in there when she’d first woken up.
“Hmm?” Chloe called absentmindedly from the kitchen. Beca heard the clink of the coffee pot.
“There’s still one more present.”
There was another clink and then Chloe drifted back into the living room, palms cupped around her favorite mug. Beca thought she looked as beautiful as ever, the Christmas lights from their miniature tree shining in her hair, her baggy long-sleeve pajama shirt trailing over the top of her flannel pants.
“Oh, I thought that was it.”
“No…” Beca’s heart started to beat with the ferocity of a bass drum and she could feel her face turning red. “Um, so. I just thought, like.” She took a deep breath. “So you know how this is the first Christmas we’ve actually spent together, even though we’ve been together, like, forever?”
Chloe nodded slowly. “Uh huh...”
“So I just wanted to let you know that I realize that means something?”
“Okay?” Chloe smiled, but her eyes were still confused and curious.
“I mean, I’ve wanted to give this to you for awhile now, but I couldn’t think of the right time. And then I realized that now is the right time. Because even after all these years, it proves we can still have first times for things. We haven’t run out of them yet.”
Chloe scrunched her nose. “Right… Bec, I love you, but you’re being weird. Are you going somewhere with this?”
“Yes!” Beca took a deep breath and pulled her hand out of her pocket. She was still sitting on the floor and she pushed herself on her knees, cursing her terrible posture and flexibility for making the maneuver clumsy and awkward. She held the ring out with trembling fingers.
Chloe’s eyes zoomed in on it, going wide. “Oh. Oh my God. Right now? Oh my God.”
“No time like the moment, dude, am I right?"
Chloe looked torn between laughing and crying. "Jesus."
Beca grinned, her nerves starting to settle a bit now that she was doing the thing. "I love you, Chloe. You're crazy and beautiful and kind and smart. Every day I feel shocked you like my grumpy ass because I know I'm not easy." She shrugged weakly. "Our journey has been totally weird and long and good. So good. Even though it took us awhile to get started and to figure this all out… especially me because we both know I'm bad at stuff like this. But I wouldn't change any of it. And I guess what I'm saying is that we can't go back, but we can go forward, and if this is our first Christmas together then I want every Christmas from now on to be together. I want me and you together, every Christmas, every year, every day. Will you marry me?"
Chloe was crying then, pinpricks of tears in the corners of her eyes. But she was smiling wider than Beca had ever seen her. "Do you really even have to ask?"
Beca raised her eyebrows. "I mean? I've heard you're supposed to do it like this but I always fall asleep before this part in the movies."
Chloe choked out a laugh. "Oh my God, shut up. Yes obviously. Of course I will."
"Cool. So do I like… just put this on your finger or…?"
Chloe shook her head, fanning her face. She held her hand out and Beca slipped the ring on her finger. It glittered, reflecting the lights on the Christmas tree. Beca wasn't usually sentimental like this, but she couldn't help it - her breath caught in her throat.
Chloe seemed to be having the same reaction. "Wow," she whispered through a sniffle. She pulled Beca to her feet and tugged her into a hug. "You know I already consider us married right?"
"I know," Beca grinned into the crook of Chloe's neck. "I didn't think I'd be into this kind of thing, but you make it easy."
"I love you. I love you so much. Forever and ever."
"I love you, too." Beca leaned back, still keeping Chloe close. "Merry Christmas, Chlo."
Chloe laughed again, then leaned in to give Beca a kiss, soft and tender and full of love. "Merry Christmas, Beca."

Merry Pitchmas - 2019
A DAUGHTER FOR CHRISTMAS
@lespetitesmortsde - MERRY PITCHMAS! BeChloeIsLegit here and I am your Secret Santa and this is my Pitchmas gift to you. I do hope you like it.
Prompt: Beca gets a big surprise for Christmas.
It was Christmas Eve and Beca stood staring at the tree she and her wife, Chloe, had decorated together. She was lost in thought when Chloe came up and wrapped her arms around Beca's waist from behind. Chloe laid her chin on Beca's shoulder.
"Penny for your thoughts," Chloe whispered before kissing Beca's cheek.
Beca smiled and turned her head to look at Chloe. "My thoughts are always about you and the girls. And, trust me, they are worth more than a penny."
Chloe smiled and hugged Beca from behind. "Speaking of the girls, we should get them up and ready. The Bellas will be her in a little while."
"Okay," Beca said, turning in Chloe's arms. "But, first, I need a couple of these."
Beca kissed Chloe and then kissed her again. Chloe kissed Beca back and finally laughed as she pulled away from Beca.
"You can have more of those later," Chloe said, taking Beca's hand. "Let's get the girls."
Thirty minutes later, the happy couple came back to the living room, each carrying one of their girls.
Chloe was carrying her mini-me, Sophie, while Beca held her mini-me, Sarah.
"Do you like the lights, Soph?" Chloe asked as the three-year-old looked at the tree, her eyes wide.
"Yes," Sophie said, nodding her head.
Beca smiled and laughed as eighteen-month-old Sarah tried to reach the ornaments on the tree.
"I'm going to check on the caterers," Chloe told Beca and walked toward the kitchen with Sophie.
Beca continued to hold Sarah, pointing out the many decorations that had been set up. She turned toward the door when she heard the doorbell ring.
"Looks like the Bellas are arriving," Beca told Sarah as she tickled her tummy.
Beca walked to the door to find her best friend, Stacie Conrad, standing there.
"Sarah!" Stacie squealed, reaching for the toddler. "Merry Christmas!"
Sarah giggled as Stacie grabbed her into a hug.
"I'm fine, Stacie," Beca said. "How are you?"
"Oh, hush," Stacie said. "You know the only reason any of us come to visit is to see Sophie and Sarah."
"Are you going to stand in the doorway hugging my kid all day or what?" Beca asked.
"I need some help with my bags," Stacie said.
"Since you're staying here," Beca said, reaching for Sarah. "Park your car in the garage and I'll help you with your bags."
"Okay," Stacie said. She tickled Sarah's stomach eliciting a giggle before hurrying down the steps to her car.
Beca saw a few more cars pulling into the driveway and yelled out, "Chloe! The girls are arriving!"
Chloe came out of the kitchen with Sophie.
"I have to go tell everyone where to park," Beca said. "The girls that are staying with us I'm having park in the garage."
"Do you want me to take Sarah?" Chloe asked.
"No," Beca said. "I want to hold onto her for as long as I can. You know we won't be holding our own kids for a while once the Bellas get ahold of them."
Chloe chuckled as Beca walked out with Sarah and started greeting the girls and pointing out where they should park. Chloe and Sophie watched from the doorway. Once Beca had everyone parking, Chloe went through the kitchen and into the garage.
"Sophie!" Stacie squealed, leaving her bags by the car and reaching for the youngster. She gave Chloe a side hug. "Merry Christmas, Chloe. It's good to see you."
"You, too, Stacie," Chloe said. "Let me help you with your bags."
Beca and Chloe showed the Bellas to their rooms and told everyone to meet downstairs when they were ready.
~ Merry Pitchmas 2019 ~
"I can't believe how big these two are getting," Aubrey said as she bounced Sarah on her lap. "I haven't seen them since Sarah was born."
"That was quite a day," Jessica said.
"It sure was," Ashley said.
"It was a day I'll never forget," Chloe said.
"I'm sorry," Beca said.
"It's not your fault," Chloe said, hugging Beca. "It was just nerve-wracking not knowing what was happening. And then have the doctor come out to tell me your blood pressure had bottomed out and they were worried about you and Sarah."
Chloe got choked up and Beca pulled her to her. "Hey, we're both fine. Don't think about the bad stuff. Focus on the good."
"I'm glad I had the Bellas with me," Chloe said, wiping her eyes. "I wouldn't have been able to handle all that on my own."
"We're always going to be here for you, Chloe," Aubrey said. "For both of you and the girls. Always."
"Enough mushy stuff," Fat Amy said. "It's Christmas Eve and I think we need to get our drink on! Woo hoo!"
"Keep it tame, Amy," Beca said. "We still have two little ones to take care of. And I don't want to be drunk when Santa comes tonight."
Sophie toddled up to Beca with a frown on her face and raised her arms. Beca smiled and picked her up.
"What's wrong, Soph?" Beca asked.
"Aunt Amy too loud," Sophie said, covering her ears.
Beca laughed. "Yes, she is. Aunt Amy, did you hear that? Sophie says your too loud."
"I'm sorry, Sophie," Fat Amy said, kissing the young girl on the cheek.
"Remind me to get Sophie to tell Amy she's being too loud next time," Stacie said. "Sophie's got Amy wrapped around her finger."
"Sophie and Sarah have us all wrapped around their fingers," Emily said.
"Mrs. Mitchell," a voice called out, causing both Chloe and Beca to turn toward them. "We are ready to serve whenever you are."
"Thank you," Chloe said. "I believe we are ready now. Come on, girls. It's time to eat."
Everyone got up and made their way to the dining room. Aubrey carried in Sarah, and Emily took Sophie from Beca.
~ Merry Pitchmas 2019 ~
Flo left right after dinner to visit some of her family, promising to be back bright and early the next morning. Emily also left to return to her mother's house, also promising to be back bright and early the next morning with her mom, Katherine.
The rest of the Bellas helped put the girls to bed, singing an acapella version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Sophie's favorite Christmas song.
"Well, I guess it's time for Santa," Beca said.
"We'll help," Aubrey said.
"Definitely," CR said. "I think I'm more excited about Christmas morning than I've ever been."
"It's the girls," Stacie said. "Something about kids and Christmas."
"I forgot that you weren't with us last year, CR," Chloe said. "I'm glad you were able to here this year."
"Me, too," CR said.
"Let's get those presents under the tree," Jessica said.
"Are we putting ours under the tree after Santa is done?" Ashley asked.
"That's the plan," Aubrey said.
With the help of the Bellas, the presents for the Mitchell girls were under the tree in no time.
"Wow!" Ashley said. "Are you sure you only have two kids?"
Beca quickly glanced at Ashley and looked over to Chloe. Chloe laughed.
"I know it's a lot," Chloe said. "But, I kept finding something that they wanted."
"Wanted?" Beca said with a grin. "More like something you wanted."
"I bought what they asked for," Chloe said with a huff.
"When did Sarah ask you for a Pentatonix Christmas album?" Beca asked, looking at Chloe while trying to hide her smile.
"I love Pentatonix," Stacie said.
"It's something we can listen to together," Chloe explained.
"Okay," Beca said, holding her hands up in defeat. "I love you, you crazy nerd."
Chloe smiled and kissed Beca. "I love you, too."
~ Merry Pitchmas 2019 ~
The next morning Beca and Chloe woke and spent a few minutes snuggled together in their bed. After a bit of a makeout session, they got up and went to get the girls ready for the day.
"Hey, sweet Sophie," Beca said as she gently shook the toddler. "Time to wake up."
"Did Sanna come?" Sophie asked as Beca picked her up.
"He did," Beca said. "We just have to dress you in your special Christmas outfit and go downstairs to see what he left for you and Sarah."
Sophie wiggled and squirmed in Beca's arms. Beca gathered up Sophie's clothes and proceeded to change her.
"Hey, Sophie," Stacie said, walking into the room. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Kwissmas," Sophie said.
"Do you need any help?" Stacie asked Beca.
"Not with Sophie," Beca said. "But, it would be a big help if you could get the oven started. We made some breakfast casseroles that we need to put in the oven. Also, could you start the coffee?"
"We can do that," Aubrey said, coming into the room. "Come on, Stacie. I'll help."
"See you in a bit," Stacie said as she and Aubrey left the room.
Beca heard the other Bellas' voices as they made their way downstairs a few minutes later.
Chloe came in carrying Sarah. "Sophie, you look amazing!" Chloe said, kissing the toddler on the cheek.
"Look, Soph," Beca said. "Sarah is dressed like you."
"Pwetty," Sophie said, leaning over to kiss Sarah on the cheek.
"Sossss," Sarah said.
Chloe's mouth dropped open. "Did you hear that, Soph? Sarah is trying to say your name."
"Yay!" Sophie said and clapped her hands.
Beca and Chloe carried the girls downstairs and Sophie's eyes grew wide at all the presents under the tree.
"Pwesents!" Sophie squealed.
"They're not all yours," Beca said. "Some are for Sarah and the Bellas."
"Hey, Beca," Ashley said. "We just put the casseroles in the oven so we have about an hour before they'll be ready."
"I guess that means we get to," Chloe paused and smiled before screaming, "Open presents! Yay!"
"Yay!" Sophie squealed and clapped.
Sarah squealed and giggled.
"Let's get to it," Beca said.
The Bellas came from the kitchen with cups of coffee and juice in their hands. Aubrey handed Chloe her coffee and Jessica handed a cup to Beca.
"Bless you," Beca said and took a sip. "Ahh, perfect." She set her cup down and walked over to Chloe.
"Okay, ladies," Chloe said. "Everyone find a seat. We're going to let Sophie and Sarah open presents. I want lots of pictures so everyone, get your cameras and phones out."
The Bellas collectively held up their cameras and phones as if they were waiting for their cue to do so.
Beca laughed and sat down on the floor with Sophie. Chloe did the same with Sarah.
"How do you want to do this?" Beca asked.
"Just start handing them presents," Chloe said.
"Okay," Beca said and reached for a gift for Sophie. "Here you go, Soph. Go for it."
Chloe did the same for Sarah, helping tear the paper away from the gift.
The Bellas talked and commented while the girls opened their gifts. Soon there was torn wrapping paper and opened presents strewn around the room.
Stacie was holding Sarah, playing with a stuffed porpoise that Sarah wouldn't let go of once she opened it.
Jessica and Ashley were playing a game with Sophie. They didn't know what exactly they were playing, but Sophie had toddled over to them and plopped down in Jessica's lap and said, "Play." So, they played.
Beca and Chloe, with assistance from CR and Fat Amy, put the finishing touches on breakfast.
There was a knock at the door, and Stacie handed Sarah to Ashely, and went to answer the door, saying, "That's probably Flo or Emily."
Stacie answered the door to find Flo on the other side.
"Feliz Navidad," Flo said.
"Merry Christmas," Stacie said, grabbing a couple of the bags Flo was carrying. "Come in. Breakfast is almost ready."
"Thank you," Flo said and entered the house.
Flo wished everyone a Merry Christmas as everyone greeted her. Chloe came out of the kitchen and hugged Flo when she saw her.
"Breakfast is ready," Chloe said.
"What about Emily?" Jessica asked. "Aren't we going to wait for her."
"She won't be here until later," Chloe said. "She and her mother were going to spend time with Emily's grandmother before coming here."
"Oh," Jessica said. "Then, let's eat!"
Chloe picked up Sarah and Jessica walked Sophie into the dining room. They hadn't been sitting long with there was another knock at the door.
"I'll get it," Stacie said and left the room.
"Do you think Emily is here already?" Chloe asked Beca as she fed Sarah.
"I don't know," Beca said. "Maybe."
"Juice, mama," Sophie said.
"It's right here, sweetie," Beca told her, handing her a sippy cup.
Stacie answered the door to find a young woman who looked to be about eighteen standing there. "Oh, may I help you?"
"Does, um, does Beca Mitchell live here?" the young woman asked.
"Who are you?" Stacie asked.
"My name is Amanda Henderson," the young woman said.
"And what do you want with Beca?"
"You're not her. I've seen pictures but you're not her. I need to talk to her."
"No, I'm not," Stacie said. "But I am her best friend. And I won't let you see Beca if you don't tell me what you want with her. She's had stalkers before."
"I'm not a stalker," Amanda said. "I think, um, Beca Mitchell is my mother. My birth mother."
Stacie's eyes widened. "Oh, my God!"
"So, is she here?" Amanda asked.
"Um, come in," Stacie said, stepping aside to let the woman in. Amanda stepped inside and Stacie closed the door. "Follow me."
Stacie moved toward Beca's office and Amanda followed. "Wait here and I'll get Beca. Do not touch anything and stay in this room."
"Okay," Amanda said and sat on the small sofa.
Stacie looked at Amanda and shook her head to clear it. She had to admit this girl did look quite a bit like Beca.
Stacie left and hurried to the dining room.
"Everything okay, Stacie?" Chloe asked as Stacie entered.
"Um, yeah," Stacie said. "Beca can I see you for a minute?"
"Sure," Beca said. "We'll be right back."
Beca followed Stacie out of the dining room. "What's up, Stace?"
"Um, when I answered the door there was a girl standing there," Stacie said. "She, um, she said she thinks you're her birth mother."
Beca paled. "Did she leave?"
"No," Stacie said. "I put her in your office. Is it true? Could she be your daughter? Does Chloe know you have another kid?"
Beca swallowed a few times. "Could you ask Chloe to come to my office. And please don't tell the others anything. Please? I'll explain everything once I talk to the girl."
~ Merry Pitchmas 2019 ~
Beca stood outside the door of her home office and paced back and forth. She didn't want to go inside until Chloe was with her.
"What's going on, Beca?" Chloe asked.
"Um, no matter what happens, just remember that I love you," Beca said.
"I know and I love you, too," Chloe said. "But you're scaring me, Becs. What's going on?"
"We have a guest," Beca said. "And I think you should meet her."
"Okay," Chloe said.
Beca let out a breath and opened the door. She allowed Chloe to enter and Chloe stopped short, her eyes widening. The woman jumped up as soon as the door opened.
Beca came in behind Chloe and tears sprang to her eyes. The girl looked just like her.
"Oh, my God!" Amanda said, tears spring to her eyes as well. "It's true."
"Who are you?" Chloe asked.
"I'm Amanda Henderson," Amanda replied.
"There is a very strong possibility that she's my daughter," Beca said.
"What?" Chloe asked, looking from Beca to Amanda and back.
"Sit down," Beca said, indicating the seat next to Amanda. "I'll explain everything."
Chloe moved next to Amanda and the two women sat down. Amanda looked at Chloe and gave her a small smile. She then turned her attention to Beca who was pulling her desk chair over to sit directly in front of the two women.
"My folks divorced when I was barely five years old," Beca said. "I hated my dad for the longest time because when he left my mom sort of checked out. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted and my mom didn't care. When I was fifteen, I started hanging out with a bad crowd. I started drinking, smoking pot, and popping pills. I was also having sex with whoever I wanted."
"Beca," Chloe said.
"No, Chlo," Beca said, holding up her hand to stop Chloe from saying anything more. "Please? Let me finish."
Chloe nodded and Beca looked at Amanda.
"I was three months shy of my sixteenth birthday when I found out I was pregnant," Beca continued. "I wasn't far along, maybe five or six weeks. I freaked a bit and thought about getting an abortion. But, I couldn't do that. Not because I'm against abortion, but I didn't think it was right for me."
A tear escaped from Beca's eye and she wiped it away. "I also knew that I was too young and immature to raise a child, so I decided immediately upon adoption. Up to this point, I didn't care about anyone, even myself. But as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I cleaned up my act. I stopped drinking, stopped using any kind of drugs, and went back to school."
Chloe wiped a tear from her eye as she watched Beca relive the memory.
"I found an adoption agency who would help pay my medical expenses while I was pregnant," Beca said. "They also found a nice family to adopt you."
"My parents are the best," Amanda said. "They encouraged me to look for you. They gave me this picture. It's the one the hospital took when I was born."
Amanda held the photo out to Beca; Beca took it. She held it for a moment before looking at her. She let out a small sob. "You look just like Sarah when she was born"
"Sarah?" Amanda asked.
"Our daughter," Chloe replied.
"Oh, you two are…?"
"Yes," Beca said. "Chloe is my wife and we have two daughters. Chloe carried Sophie; she's three. I carried Sarah and she's eighteen months old."
"Congratulations," Amanda said.
"Thank you," Beca said.
"Um, may I ask you a question?" Amanda asked.
"Sure," Beca said.
"What about my father?" Amanda asked. "Do you know where he is?"
"I don't," Beca said and looked down embarrassed. She quietly added, "I'm not even sure who he is."
Beca let out a sob and started crying. Chloe got up and pulled Beca into a hug. Beca wrapped her arms around Chloe's waist and buried her head in Chloe's stomach. Chloe leaned down and kissed the top of Beca's head before laying her head to rest on Beca's.
"It's okay, babe," Chloe whispered.
Amanda smiled and wiped a tear from her cheek. "Is there anything you want to ask me?"
Beca lifted her head and looked at Amanda. "From the way you look and how you speak of the Hendersons, it sounds like you've had a good life."
"I have," Amanda said with a big smile. "I, uh, I'm sorry I ruined your Christmas. I lost my parents a few months ago and they left me some money and a request that I look for my birth parents. When I found out that you were my birth mother, I was shocked. My friends always said I looked like you but I never saw it until you walked in here and I couldn't deny it anymore. That you were my birth mother."
"I'm sorry for your loss," Chloe said. "And I hope that you will consider us your family."
"You're okay with that, Chlo?" Beca asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Chloe asked, surprised. "She's a part of you and I love everything about you."
Beca pulled Chloe to her and hugged her. She lifted her head and Chloe leaned down to kiss her.
Amanda smiled. "I, um, should probably let you get back to your Christmas. I was hoping that you would want to get together sometime so we could talk more."
"Why don't you stay?" Chloe said. "We were just having breakfast and there's plenty."
"Yes," Beca said excitedly. "Please stay. I know I'm not your mom in the real sense of the word, but I'd love it if you stayed to meet your sisters."
"I don't want to intrude," Amanda said.
"You're family," Chloe said.
Amanda let out a small sob. "I'd love that. Thank you so much."
Chloe released Beca and pulled Amanda into a hug. "I'm glad you're here to celebrate with us."
"Me, too," Beca said, wrapping her arms around Chloe and Amanda.
"Come on, you two," Chloe said. "Let's go eat."
They all wiped their eyes and Chloe led the way to the dining room. Everyone stopped talking and it was quiet as soon as Chloe entered. All eyes widened when Beca and Amanda walked in together.
"Whoa, Beca," Fat Amy said. "Is this a long-lost sister you never told us about? She looks just like you."
"Everyone," Beca said. "This is Amanda Henderson. And, she is my daughter."
The Bellas gasped and stared wide-eyed at Beca, not saying a word. Sarah cooed and giggled causing Stacie to laugh. She jumped up and pulled another chair to the table.
"Sit here, Amanda," Stacie said. "I'll get you a plate."
"Thank you," Amanda said and sat.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Beca whispered to Chloe while everyone was throwing questions at Amanda.
"Of course I am," Chloe said. "It's as I told you, she's a part of you. Although I am a little hurt that you never told me about that part of your life."
"I'm sorry," Beca said. "It was a painful part of my life and I didn't want to talk about it."
"Wait, you're eighteen?" they heard Jessica ask Amanda. At Amanda's nod, Jessica looked at Beca. "And you're thirty-four, so that means you had Amanda-"
"When I was sixteen," Beca finished for her. "I know."
"Well, I could tell she was related somehow," Fat Amy said, around a mouthful of food. "She looks just like you and your mini-me, you. You're mini-you."
Amanda stood and walked around the table. She looked at Sarah and at Sophie.
"I've always wanted to have sisters," Amanda said. "Hey, cutie," she said, taking Sophie's hand in hers. "I'm your big sister."
"Sister?" Sopie said. "Sarah is sister."
"That's right," Chloe said. "Sarah is your sister, but so is Amanda."
"Manda?"
"Yes, Manda," Amanda said with a smile. "I like that."
Amanda looked at Beca and Chloe. "Thank you for allowing me into your home. I wasn't sure how this was going to go, but I'm glad I came."
"So am I," Beca said. "I mean, who else can say they got a daughter for Christmas."
"I can," Chloe said with a grin. "Merry Christmas, Amanda."
"Merry Kwissmas, Manda," Sophie said.
"Merry Christmas," Amanda said.

Get Your Cardio - A Pitchmas Fic
A Pitchmas gift for @fandom-heaux from your secret Santa.
Beca curses the day she met Chloe Beale under her breath as the sweat trickles down her face.
"Good job, Becs! Just two more miles!"
Scandalized, Beca falters in her rhythm on the elliptical. "You said I only had to do three miles total!"
Chloe smiles widely from her own machine, "Uh, yeah and you've only done one."
Beca stops so abruptly she almost falls over. "There is no way in hell I have only done one mile." Chloe looks amused as she leans over to point at Beca's odometer, never breaking her stride.
1.1 miles.
"I give up," Beca declares, loudly and dramatically channeling her Bellas sisters.
"No you don't." Chloe gestures for her to keep going, looking gorgeous with her movie star sweat and her buff arms and her face.
"I hate cardio."
Chloe raises an impish eyebrow at Beca, "Not all cardio is like this, Becs, but I don't think as fitness czar of the Bellas I can ethically assign you the fun kind."
It takes Beca a few more seconds than she'd like to connect the dots, but when she realizes that of course Chloe Beale is talking about recreational sex, Chloe's already enjoying a nice laugh about it.
"I hate you." Beca says, but there's no heat to it, just defeat and grumpiness.
"That's fine, I love you enough for both of us."
"It's not my fault you need two people for that kind of cardio," Beca mumbles as she gets her feet back into place to continue.
Chloe actually snorts.
At once, Beca turns to look at her, "What?"
Chloe shakes her head, like she's indulging a toddler. "You are just so oblivious."
"I am not," Beca defends immediately.
"Yes, you are," Chloe insists. "You have no idea how incredible and sexy you are. If it was publically appropriate for people to queue up for a chance with you, your line would be down the block and around the corner, at least."
Blushing, Beca decides that the only possible response is one in kind. "Well, if that was reality, my line would have nothing on yours. It would ring around the whole campus and then some. Especially because, I reiterate, no one would be in my line."
Chloe's shaking her head in disagreement before Beca even finishes. "There would be tons of people in your line."
"I don't even know tons of people!"
"You don't have to know them," Chloe explains. "They just have to know you."
"Nobody knows me," Beca argues. "Except maybe you, but you wouldn't be in my line, so my line is still empty."
Chloe goes quiet, save for the noises coming from her elliptical. Just as Beca decides to ask her what's wrong, she pipes up, "Your line wouldn't be empty, Becs. Not even if I was the only one lining up somewhere."
The moment feels far too heavy for what started out as a lighthearted conversation at the gym. Beca sputters out a "You-" but then doesn't seem to know where to go from there.
"It's okay," Chloe says, in what Beca knows is her fakely cheerful positive voice. "You don't have to say anything, we can just finish our cardio and head back."
And maybe the conversation primed Beca, but as soon as Chloe mentions cardio again, she's thinking about that other kind of cardio and whether or not Chloe might be interested in that... with her.
And it is during this break in their conversation that not one, but two people come over to them, or more accurately, to Chloe.
The guy is alright, as far as guys go, Beca decides. He's not unpleasant looking and seems fairly toned. The woman is not very muscular, but defined, and if Beca's being honest, she's pretty cute. After all that just happened, Beca's mind is still trying to compute, but she knows she doesn't really want to witness this. She's witnessed it too often and she knows she doesn't like it.
It's the guy who tries his luck first, and Beca can tell from Chloe's face that she'll let him down gently. She feels a little more relaxed as he introduces himself and tells Chloe she has great form and asks if she comes here a lot.
Chloe politely engages in the conversation and Beca stops listening, turns her attention to the fairly slight brunette girl looking nervous beside him. All of a sudden, Beca's hit with a wave of worry because what if Chloe likes this woman. She looks between her reflection in the mirror and the woman literally waiting in line to ask Chloe out and she can't ignore some of the similarities.
Beca stops moving on the elliptical as the guy takes his rejection fairly well and backs away. Her face warms and her pulse quickens as Chloe turns to the woman, who starts by apologizing for bothering her. Chloe loves a sincere apology.
She gives Chloe her name and in a very cutely awkward fashion asks if Chloe would like to get coffee later.
The words escape Beca's mouth before her brain catches up, surprising all three of them. "Sorry, she's got plans later."
And in the confused silence, Beca adds, "With me."
The woman apologizes again, this time to both of them, and then rejoins her friend. They pat each other on the back and head over to the free weights.
Beca tries very pointedly to not look at Chloe and blatantly ignores how peaceful she feels inside now that they're gone. She starts her exercise again.
"Beca," Chloe starts, and Beca can't quite discern what the tone of voice means. "I can answer for myself."
"I know, sorry," Beca scrambles for any excuse for her response. "But I figured putting her out of her misery faster would really be a mercy."
"What do you mean 'putting her out of her misery'?"
Beca's gait falters slightly. "Like your rejection? You're very polite about them but sometimes they take a long time."
"Why would you assume I was going to reject her?"
Fear coils itself where Beca thinks her liver might be. "Um, I mean, you rejected him so I just thought it was game over for her too."
Beca can hear the fire light in Chloe's head before it's released, "And if I wanted to go to coffee with her, but you just rejected her apparently on my behalf, what am I supposed to do, hmm?"
"You wanted to go?" Saying it aloud herself is worse than hearing it from Chloe.
"So why did you do that, Beca?"
Beca dismounts from the elliptical and tries to outrun whatever is happening in her head. "I don't know," she offers weakly and then full on sprints to the changing area. She grabs her stuff as quickly as she can before barreling into an empty shower stall, pulling the curtain fully shut behind her. She puts the water on and strips to shower as someone enters the shower area.
"Beca?" Of course it's Chloe. Beca focuses on washing her hair as Chloe calls her name a couple more times. She rinses the shampoo out and listens intently for a moment before deciding that Chloe has moved her search along. She soaps herself up, fighting her natural instinct to sing in the shower just in case Chloe's still lurking out there.
It's as she's rinsing the suds off that she clearly hears the curtain slide open behind her. She keeps her back to the doorway.
"Beca, what the actual fuck?"
Beca winces. Chloe Beale does not usually swear.
"Hi this is a shower for one, please use any of the other empty stalls for your own cleaning purposes."
"Beca, what's going on?" She can feel Chloe step closer towards her.
"You're invading my shower for the second time."
"Seriously Beca, spill, or I will hug you."
Beca actually chortles at the threat. And then she feels cool skin against her back, including two particularly firm spots near her shoulder blades. She short circuits.
Two arms wrap around her stomach, clearly actively avoiding her boobs, for which she's thankful.
"Talk to me," Chloe says, this time more gently than her previous inquiries.
"I am naked." Is all Beca can formulate, not unlike the first time this happened.
"Me too. What's your point?"
"Dude!"
"Talk to me, Becs."
"I just didn't think you'd want to go with her."
"Why wouldn't I?"
Beca shrugs.
"Come on, you know that's not an answer."
Beca feels Chloe's boobs press harder against her back.
"Jesus! Okay! You basically just said you were into me and then this lady pulls up who looks generally like me and I just wanted to make sure you didn't go with her, okay?"
It's not enough for Chloe. "But why didn't you want that?"
Beca closes her eyes and leans farther against the shower wall. "Please don't make me say it."
"Say what?"
"Beale…"
"Yes, Mitchell?"
Beca lowers her head and leans enough to gently thump her forehead against the wall. "They interrupted a moment," she says finally.
"Oh did they?"
And Beca's had enough of this teasing from Chloe. She no longer cares that not only is she naked but so is the terror behind her. She turns in Chloe's arms to look her in the eye.
"Yes they did." She states. "They barged in before I had a chance."
Chloe doesn't hesitate to take the opening. "Chance for what?"
Adrenaline comes to Beca's defense and maybe a touch of impulsivity learned from Amy. Beca presses her forehead against Chloe's and then juts her chin forward so that she kisses her.
If Chloe's surprised, she doesn't show it. But she kisses back like she was born to do it. When Beca pulls away she feels strangely calm.
"I understand if you want to get coffee with her," she says and then quickly corrects herself. "Well, no, I don't understand but I'd love to get coffee or dinner or anything with you instead."
Chloe smiles and Beca can't hold hers in anymore. "Are you asking me on a date, Beca Mitchell?"
"Only if you're gonna say yes."
"I think your future's looking pretty good."

Merry Pitchmas!
Merry Pitchmas and happy holidays @anotherbechloeshipper from your secret santa! Have a wonderful winter break and I hope you enjoy the fic :)
It had been an ongoing mystery in the Bella House who decorated for Christmas. After trying for literal months their first year in the house receiving nothing, the girls gave up, assuming it was Chloe, no matter how adamantly she denied it. The second year, the girls were still just as curious, but kept their speculations and questions to themselves mostly, knowing that whoever was decorating wasn’t going to give themself up. It became something of a running joke in the house, wondering who the decorator was and why they skipped all of the other holidays. And while the secret would remain a secret for the Bellas as a whole, Chloe was going to learn come the third year.
Beca and Chloe had started seeing each other the summer after Beca’s freshman year. Since the relationship was so new when the holidays came around, they went their separate ways for Thanksgiving and Christmas with plans for Skype dates and promises of calls. During Beca’s Sophomore year, they stayed in Barden for Thanksgiving with Beca’s father and step-mother, then spent Christmas in Florida with Chloe’s family, each welcoming the respective girlfriend with open arms. Having spent this Thanksgiving with the Beales, Beca and Chloe found themselves headed for Portland, Oregon, where Beca’s maternal family waited.
“Rebs!” Shouted two rather short brunette women, who quickly made their way to where Beca and Chloe were waiting for their bags.
“Mama, Aunt Shan,” Beca responded excitedly, hugging both women to Chloe’s surprise. “This is my girlfriend, Chloe,” she continued, grabbing her hand and pulling her forward.
“It’s so wonderful to finally meet you! I’m Beca’s mother, Dianna, and this is my sister Shan,” she said, embracing the redhead as she had done her daughter.
“You too! Thank you for having me for the holiday.” Dianna waved her off while Beca and her aunt grabbed their bags. Chloe watched happily as Beca chatted animatedly with her mother and aunt the whole way to their home, telling them about school, her budding relationship with her father, and, of course, their relationship. Chloe chimed in here and there, but she was content watching Beca and how happy she seemed around her mom. It was a refreshing change from how uncomfortable she was around her father. The surprises didn’t seem to stop as they arriuved at the modest home, and Beca was attacked by her family with greetings and affection. She returned greetings and hugs and introduced Chloe to Shan’s husband and their children, Beca’s cousins. After brief introductions, Beca showed Chloe upstairs to her childhood bedroom. Chloe took in the room with a look of contemplation. The walls were light blue and, obviously, had several music posters and vinyl records on them. But for the most part it was bright and happy.
“So… surprised?” Beca asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
“Mmm, a little. I was expecting it to be pink,” she teased. Beca shook her head with a laugh.
“Ok nerd. C’mon, mom and Shan said they’d leave some of the decorating for us to do.” Beca pulled Chloe by her hand back downstairs and to the living room, where her family was chatting, patiently waiting for them.
“Ah, there she is! Now we can get this tree decorated,” Shan stated, moving to grab a few boxes labeled “xmas tree.” Sitting down, Chloe watched as they all grabbed ornaments with their names on them and placed them on the tree, when a little box came into her line of sight.
“For you,” was all Beca said, dangling the box lightly. Chloe shot her a puzzled smile as she opened the box and found a little angel with her name on it. Beca pulled her up and led her to the tree, then pointed to a spot next to one of the ornaments. Chloe noticed then that all of them had an angel with their name, and Beca had left a space next to hers for Chloe to place her own. Tears filled her eyes as she glanced at Beca and Dianne. Beca placed a hand on her back and nodded, so she carefully put her angel up on the tree.
“Alright, the little ones are going to do the tree, Rebs if you wanna do your thing, with Chloe, of course.” Beca smiled, which did not help Chloe’s confusion.
“I’ll be right back,” she said, pressing a kiss to Chloe’s cheek. She returned a few minutes later with a large plastic bin of Christmas decorations, and Christmas music had started softly playing from a speaker on the mantle. “Alright, you ready to decorate?” She asked, gesturing to the box.
“What are we decorating exactly?”
“Uhh, I’m not sure what all mama left for me- us. For us. But usually the banister on the stairs, doorways, and mantle, and tables. Garland on the banister and mantle and lights and fake candles on the tables.” The more Beca rambled, the more pieces fell into place for Chloe.
“Wait wait wait, you do this every year? Like all out decorating? And Christmassy?”
“Yeah?” She asked, tilting her head. While she had never paraded around her love of the holiday, she hadn’t particularly hidden it. Chloe looked at her for a moment before her face lit up.
“O-M- aca-G! You’re the mystery decorator!”
“Well, yeah,” she said smiling. “I figured you knew that. I never like, hid it from you.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” she asked, pouting. Beca cupped Chloe’s face with one hand, running her thumb across her pouted lip.
“No one asked if it was me, so I never said anything,” she shrugged. “It’s not a big deal. Now, are you gonna help me decorate or not?” Chloe nodded, beaming. Together, they decorated the house while singing along with the music Beca had playing, some mixes some just the regular songs. After decorating, they had dinner and hot chocolate. Beca took two mugs and gestured for Chloe to follow her outside, where she sat down on a porchswing, haning her the second mug.
“So, do you have anymore Christmas secrets to share?” Chloe asked coyly, taking a sip of the cocoa.
“Well, now that you mention it, I do, actually.” Beca stopped their, sipping from her own mug. Chloe stared at her, waiting for her to continue. When Beca was unable to hide her smirk, she slapped her shoulder.
“Out with it woman!”
“Okay, okay! Geez,” she said, rubbing her shoulder. Looking out over the yard, she continued, voice soft, “Shan’s first kid, Maddy, got really sick when she was little, like six, I was 15 or something. She was in the hospital for a long time. They hoped she would be able to go home for Christmas, but it didn’t end up that way. Christmas was always mama and Shan’s favorite, mine too, so it we wanted to do something for them. Mom and I arranged with the hospital to let us come in on Christmas day and deliver all of ‘santas’ gifts to Maddy. She was so happy when we got there, all in costume and everything with a bag that had her presents in it,” she paused, emotional from the memory.
“Anyway, I remember seeing all the other kids light up when we passed their rooms dressed up. Maddy got better after a few more months, but, I don’t know, I just couldn’t stop thinking about all the other kids in her situation. Stuck in the hospital sick and miserable, you know? And how happy Maddy looked when we got there. So mom and I made it a tradition for Christmas to bring a bunch of toys to the kids’ unit of the hospital dressed up as santa’s helpers,” she explained. “I wanted to ask you if you’d come with us? Usually it’s just me and mom, but I thought maybe mom could pass out gifts and we could sing some Christmas songs for them? If you don’t want to you don’t have to-”
“Beca,” she said, cutting off her rambling,” I would be honored to come with you.”
“You would?” she asked, smile growing.
“Yes.” They were both quiet for a moment, just smiling at each other. “I always knew you were a good person, but this makes me love you more than I already do,” Chloe said softly.
“I love you too, Chlo,” she responded, kissing her sweetly.
Chloe was filled with nervous energy. She, Beca, and Dianne, were all in the elevator dressed up like santa, about to give presents and holiday cheer to a floor full of sick children. Dianne had a bag of various toys, Beca had an acoustic guitar strapped to her back, and Chloe had a box with coloring sheets and Crayons, all ready to spread some happiness and give these kids a moment to be children again. There was an area on the floor for the more mobile kids to sit and play, which is where Beca and Chloe set up, while Dianna went to the rooms with the not so mobile kids with presents first. Chloe was helping get the kids set up with their pictures and crayons when Beca had started double checking the tuning of her guitar. There was a little girl, who looked rather worse for wear, sitting on a little chair alone, and Beca went and sat next to her, leaning down to speak quietly. Chloe watched as Beca coaxed a smile and a little giggle from the girl, then nodded her head in Chloe’s direction. The little girl looked up at her with wide eyes, then turned back to Beca, who nodded again. A moment later, a familiar tune filled the room.
As Beca began singing the lyrics to White Winter Hymnal, Chloe’s absolute favorite Christmas song, the smile on her face only grew. She picked up and joined after the opening, making her way around the room of happy children while doing so. As Chloe swayed her way toward Beca, a few of the children got up and started dancing, so she made her way to them and danced with them while singing with Beca. She noticed that some parents had joined in singing and even dancing. The nurses were smiling and singing, and a warmth spread in her chest as she looked around at the scene they had managed to create. How something as simple as a Christmas song and some coloring could bring these children and their parents so much joy so easily. Chloe found herself having to force her tears back as she continued dancing and singing with the kids. It wasn’t until they were getting ready to pack up their things that Chloe found a moment to speak with Beca.
“Thank you for bringing me with you.”
“Of course, thanks for coming willingly,” she joked, placing her guitar down to help clean up.
“No, I mean it. This… this was such an amazing thing, and I’m just… I’m really happy you shared it with me,” she said, tearing up again. Beca ran her thumbs under her eyes softly, catching the lone tear that had fallen.
“There’s no one else I would share it with but you. You nerd,” she said, getting a small laugh out of Chloe. “I love you, Chlo. And… I’d like to keep this tradition with you, if you want,” she said hesitantly, resting her forehead against hers.
“I love you too. And I would love to keep this tradition with you.” They stood with each other for a moment, enjoying their closeness, before Chloe smiled teasingly.
“I can’t wait to tell the girls who the mystery decorator is.”

MERRY PITCHMAS @introvert-luce !!!!
I hope you have wonderful day and a beautiful year ahead of you! I was your secret santa and I hope you enjoy your gift :) !!
Words: 2410 Rating: T Pairing: Beca/Chloe AO3: coming soon!
Beca Mitchell does not like Christmas.
She doesn’t hate it, but she's neither fond of the holiday nor the days around it. The stretch from late December to early January is just a melancholic, monotonic blur that bleeds into itself and it’s not exactly a good time for her. The days are cold, dull and depressive, doing nothing to help her already pensive mood around that time of the year.
She’s just never celebrated the holidays, period. Her family was as messed up as it could get right before a divorce, and nobody really wants to celebrate a thing like that, not even a five-year-old who was all too aware of what was going on around her.
Back at Barden, she just used to take part in the gift exchange with everyone else and help with errands if they were short on people – it didn’t hurt to do any of that. Afterwards, she used to chill out with the Bellas that didn’t celebrate the holiday either, and that’s the way she liked it.
She’d normally not be invested in the occasion at all, just simply mail a few cards to her Bellas and call it a day.
But this year, it’s her first Christmas together with Chloe, and she doesn’t know what it’ll hold.
(She has a hard time believing that Chloe’s actually her girlfriend as it is.)
Chloe understands her perfectly and wouldn’t prod her about doing something. If Beca doesn’t want to do anything with her, she knows she can tell Chloe and two will plan the day according to both their wishes and reach a compromise.
But that’s the thing: this year, she wants to spend the holiday with Chloe. She wants to see where it takes them and what it’s like when it’s just the two of them.
Most of all, she wants to make sure Chloe loves it.
~
The first thing they do is go Christmas shopping.
Chloe’s face is gleaming as she looks around the streets, eyes drawn to those shops that are already way too decked up even if the holiday’s less than 2 weeks away. Beca deems it too early for any sort of decoration, and honestly, it’s a bit of an eyesore.
But she glances at Chloe again, noticing how content the woman looks and smiles to herself. If it’s making Chloe smile, it’s not stupid.
“Beca, are you alright?” Chloe voice shakes her from her musings, and she shakes her head before meeting Chloe’s eyes. “What? Yeah, I’m fine.” “You kind of zoned out for a while there, are you sure?”
Beca doesn’t even think before she replies.
“Yeah, it’s just that you were looking, like, really pretty, so…”
Color rushes to her cheeks, and she can’t believe she just said that out loud. Smooth, Mitchell, she thinks. She looks at her feet, shuffling them together to break the silence and wonders how awkward Chloe felt.
(Okay, fuck it, Chloe’s her girlfriend, she’ll tell her she’s pretty anytime. But still, that doesn’t make her feel any less embarrassed. Her college self is facepalming herself big time.)
Soft fingers lace with hers, and she looks down to see their intertwined hands. There’s a press of lips against her cheek, and Chloe’s face splits into a soft smile. Beca knows Chloe’s understood what she was trying to say – she doesn’t need words to know that.
Giving their hands a quick squeeze, Chloe tugs her into her into a huge, overly red and white shop.
As daunting as the rows upon rows of weird trinkets and eatables look, Beca thinks she’ll just about do anything and go anywhere as long as she’s with Chloe.
~
Beca’s bored three minutes into their shopping trip.
Frankly, the displays of red, white and green are making her sick and every time she sees a gallant looking Christmassy sculpture she wants to barf. What happened to the simplicity of decorations?
Chloe seems to be entirely unaffected by any of this, and easily picks out whatever she needs. Beca can recognize the basics, like fairy lights and tree ornaments, but most of the other things in the cart are a mystery to her.
For her, the holiday’s never been more than what she’s seen in movies, and it’s not like she has any memorable times from when her father tried to celebrate it with her. There’s a snippet in her mind, of what it would have been like to celebrate the holiday like most other families do. It’s enough to make her feel like she’s missed out on a lot, and sometimes she wonders if she’ll ever get to feel that.
She guesses that growing and maturing in life really does make you want the things you couldn’t have cared less about ten years ago.
Chloe’s voice snaps her out of her brooding thoughts yet again, and she sees the woman waving her over, probably asking for her opinion on something she has no idea about.
Chloe explains to her that they’re in a grave situation, and that Beca must help her pick the best flavour of marshmallows or everything will absolutely go to hell.
(Beca thinks, that with Chloe and the bellas, she’s already got the family she’d never had.
And with Chloe, the future she wants doesn’t seem too far off.)
~
Beca had thought shopping was going to be the most tedious part about the festive season. But half an hour into their attempt to hang up some fairy lights, she’s done.
“Chloe, I can’t do this anymore. Why are the walls so high? I knew we shouldn’t have bought this place.” She whines, shakily balancing herself on a ladder that is bound to fall any second.
“You’re just short, Beca.” Chloe replies from the other side of the room, neatly winding the wires around nails and over picture frames.
“It’s not like you’re any taller.” Beca mutters under her breath. “I heard that. It’s why we use something called ladders, Becs.” “Can’t I just do something else? I really don’t think I’m doing it right.” “How can you possibly mess up hanging a fairy light?” “Try me.”
Sure enough, when Chloe turns around and sees the lopsided mess of wires and bulbs that was supposed to be cute and organized, she sighs and shakes her head.
Chloe tells her to hold the stream of lights for her while she tacks them to the wall, which basically means that all Beca has to do is stand by the ladder and pull the wire when Chloe asks her to.
In the three hours that it takes for them to finish, Beca nearly remains silent, while Chloe does the talking. She talks about everything – her vet school life, the animals she’s treated, that one puppy that wouldn’t stop clinging to her and Beca listens promptly, drinking it all up, eyes never leaving Chloe.
She’s positive that it’s at least the third time she’s hearing Chloe bring up the same incidents, but she could listen to the redhead talk all day. Their time together is already limited, with Chloe still having a few months more of vet school all the way in Davis, and Beca’s producing career just on the verge of taking off.
She’ll take what she can get for now.
Chloe’s laughter interjects the conversation every now and then, her eyes filled with mirth, and it makes Beca feel warm in a way she’s never felt before.
There are boxes open all over the floor, bits of paper strewn across the rug, pieces of tape stuck to her pants and lights illuminating the whole room.
(She could probably stay like this forever, she thinks, depressing holiday season be damned.)
~
They do their gift shopping separately, and Beca absolutely wrecks her brain trying to find Chloe a perfect one. Chloe’s the kind of person who’d be perfectly content with anything Beca gets her, and that doesn’t exactly help her narrow down her options.
Ultimately, a bracelet in a jewelry shop catches her eye, silver and glistening. It’s expensive, but not exactly unaffordable thanks to her salary. It has certain tiny engravings on it that she knows Chloe will love, and at this point, not buying the bracelet is out of the question – she herself loves it.
As she pulls out her card and pays, she thinks of Chloe’s smile, of sunlight glinting off the band in the early mornings, of the cool metal resting against her skin.
Yeah, she can’t wait for Christmas to come around and give Chloe her present.
~
Christmas day comes around faster than any of them had anticipated, and before they know it, they’re getting ready to host Stacie and Aubrey for the evening. The two were the only two Bellas who were close enough to visit them, with all the others promising to visit some other time.
They’d spent the morning lazing around and doing absolutely nothing - Beca’s ideal morning - which naturally meant that their entire afternoon is spent preparing dinner and doing other errands around the house.
A few minutes after they’ve just wrapped up and Chloe’s busy getting ready, Beca answers the door to reveal Stacie and Aubrey. Stacie pulls her into a bone crushing hug, while the blonde is too busy checking out her loft, admiring the place as soon as Beca ushers her in.
“Okay, I think I now understand why Chloe’s dating you.” Aubrey remarks.
Stacie lets out a snort at that, and Beca simply rolls her eyes. She knows Aubrey’s pulling her leg, but she can’t resist a little jab at the woman either.
“Are you jealous? I can set up a trust fund for you if you want.”
This time, Stacie laughs at the retort, clearly amused by the two, while Aubrey simply glares at her.
Chloe walks in just as Aubrey’s about to respond, dressed in a flattering sweater and jeans. She gives an exasperated sigh as soon as she sees the two women glaring at each other - she’s seen this scene play out in front of her too many times before.
“Are you two seriously doing this? On Christmas?” “Aubrey started it!” “Nobody asked you to continue it!”
“Sometimes I still have trouble believing you’re both adults.” Chloe states, and Aubrey cracks a smile before rushing over to Chloe and hugging her tightly.
~
They drink a little wine before dinner, and once they’re done eating Chloe says words that makes Beca’s blood run cold.
“Beca, it’s time for you to put on your sweater.”
Chloe doesn’t have to specify which sweater she’s talking about.
The color drains from Beca’s face and she sits rooted to her spot.
“No.” She answers resolutely. She’s dodged the weird tradition of gaudy Christmas sweaters all her life and she’ll be damned if she wears one this year.
“Beca, please?” Chloe asks, her voice syrupy sweet and eyes softened. Usually, a pout is enough for Chloe to get what she wants, but this is a serious matter. Beca is not going to wear a hideous, bright turtleneck no matter what.
She spares a glance at Stacie and Aubrey, and Aubrey’s having way too much fun stiffling her laughter, while Stacie grins and looks on. Everyone except her is clad in ugly red, white, green and brown Christmas sweaters, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to wear one too.
“No.”
“Come on, Beca, even Aubrey’s wearing one! You can take it off later, just put it on for now.” Chloe insists, clutching a brown paper bag in her hand. Beca doesn’t even know where Chloe procured that from, and frankly, she’s a little scared.
Beca shakes her head again.
“Alright, you know what.”
Chloe grabs her hand and drags her to their bedroom. Beca would be amazed by the feat of strength under different circumstances, mostly ones that didn’t involve ugly sweaters.
The redhead trudges closer to her, backing her up against one of the walls, until their bodies are almost touching. “Wear it, and I’ll make it up to you later.” She whispers in a sultry tone that she knows makes Beca weak.
“I-“
“Thanks.” Chloe says sweetly, before swiftly turning on her heel and walking away, shutting the door on her way out.
Beca glares at the packet lying on the bed and tries not to rip apart the fabric the moment she lays her eyes on it.
It’s the ugliest thing Beca has ever seen.
It’s chunky and gaudy and has a horrendous reindeer sewn into the front of it. The colors make Beca’s eyes hurt and she knows she’s never going to live it down once she walks out the door. The things she does for Chloe…
The moment she walks out the door, to Aubrey’s laughter, Chloe’s giggles and Stacie’s camera going off, she knows there’s no going back.
She resigns herself to wearing the monstrosity for the rest of the evening, and sulks in the corner while the three women finish laughing over her.
She looks at Chloe, doubled over in laughter, clearly enjoying the sight of her wearing something so silly, and decides that maybe it isn’t so bad after all.
(On second thought, she takes it back. The sweater is fucking horrible.)
~
Stacie and Aubrey leave a few minutes to midnight, and Beca realizes that she never actually got around to giving Chloe her gift. Chloe had given hers in the morning only, but Beca had insisted on waiting till the evening to give hers.
She rushes into their bedroom, rummaging through her closet until she finds the box and runs out to a confused Chloe, standing dazed in the kitchen.
“Close your eyes.” The redhead promptly does as instructed, and Beca takes her right hand in hers.
Beca takes the bracelet and clasps it on Chloe’s wrist. Chloe’s eyes open the moment she feels the cool metal against her skin, and her eyes visibly widen as she takes in the sleek, silvery piece adorning her hand.
“Do you like it?” Beca asks, a little thrown off by Chloe’s lack of a response.Did she go too far?
“I love it, it’s beautiful. You know you didn’t have to get me this.” Chloe lifts the bracelet to her face and examines it closely, awed by its make and design. I know, I wanted to.”
She detaches the hand holding Chloe’s and brings it up to the redhead’s cheek instead, stroking it softly.
“Merry Christmas, Chloe.” She’s never felt this happy greeting someone.
“Merry Christmas, Beca.”
Chloe’s happy, the kind of happy that comes from within your bones, and Beca knows it because Chloe’s eyes are shining and her hands are shaking and she can’t stop smiling.
It’s alright, Beca thinks.
She wouldn’t mind a million more days like this, as long as Chloe’s with her.
