Meredith O'Connor: I Am. An Album Review.
Upon a request, I was asked to listen to Meredith O'Connor's debut album from 2015, "I Am."
Meredith O'Connor first rose to fame upon releasing her debut EP in 2013. Her lead single, "Celebrity," would receive positive reviews from listeners online. The following year, O'Connor dropped another single, "Just the thing," which features on this album. Finally, by October 20th, 2015, O'Connor dropped her first album. Upon listening, I found that "I Am" is a short breeze of an album which I appreciate. The pacing is decent, with the track time capping at 35 minutes. The title track, "I am," sets the tone for the rest of the album.
The first track is a fiercely positive song where O'Connor may harbor doubts as a person, but the Choruses try to dissuade that uncertainty by being herself. She is what she is. It's a striking message that can carry as much weight as it does, thanks to her impressive vocals. Part of my attraction to the track attributed to her sounding similar to Michelle Branch's "All You Wanted," another song I adore.
The following track, "The Game," is a more intriguing song lyrically. A couple of well-put lines stick out from this track and the album as a whole. For example, the opening lines, "Why did they choose you? Why can't you be strong?" elicits some interesting questions that allow some ample contemplation from the listener. The energy and tone are taken and lowered for this track which works and remind me of yet another singer, though instead of Michelle Branch, it's Cascada, oddly enough. If the song harbored some of the upbeat dance instrumentals Cascada has in many of her songs, I might like it more, but the track is still fine as is.
The third track arrives, "Just the Thing," and the single remains one of the better tracks from the album. I find it one of the most endearing songs from the album easily. O'Connor details all her faults and how she does not fit in with usual crowds, but she does with one other. It's incredibly sweet-sounding, and it's easy to see why this was a single. It's the type of song that would fit well in a high school romance kind of film. And as far as sounding like another artist…it's giving Taylor Swift. O'Connor tends to remind me of other popular artists.
Those vibes persist for the remainder of the album. "Distraction" serves a decent purpose, as O'Connor wants to be the object of another's eye. Luckily, her voice is not exactly 1 to 1 of Taylor's as she does a high-quality job pouring her feelings out. Her vocals being the strongest aspect of the album, make a sad juxtaposition as the two male features on the project perform their songs. Jordan Jansen and Garrett Clayton, the former appearing on "Unforgettable Night" and the latter appearing on "Stronger," are fine vocalists but pale in comparison to O'Connor.
By the end of the album's run and the thirty-five minutes are up, it's clear that Meredith O'Connor is a talented individual. She makes it clear throughout the album multiple times that her voice is the most vital point. Lyrically, a few tracks and lines stand out, but her pen game could hopefully improve from here. Instrumentals definitely need improvement to accompany her voice but they are not terrible in the slightest. Overall, it's a solid album and a decent debut from the artist. What direction she went from her humble beginning around a decade ago will have to be seen by me whenever I decide to pursue and listen to her following projects to see how she's grown as an artist. There are at least a few songs on "I Am" worth visiting.

My Ultimate Music Playlist
So I realized how many playlists I've made these past few years, which is frankly a little ridiculous, especially since most of them are me adding the same song in multiple of them cause it fits so well.
But, to cap off this hell of a year, here is a full list of every single one I've made in my life.
My proudest one to date, filled with almost every kind of my fav rock songs
All of my favorite songs from before the 2000's
All of my favorite songs after 2000
An indie/alternative playlist for whenever you're studying or concentrating but don't want instrumentals
My favorite gay love songs
What I listen to when jogging
What I listen to when daydreaming
😏😏😏
Just some Spongebob songs cause I'm nostalgic
Songs that in general make me feel alive
What SPN should've used for their soundtrack
Wilford Warfstache songs
Actor Mark songs
Music made by black artists
For when you're lying down and looking up
Fall playlist
Winter playlist
Spring playlist
Summer playlist
Songs that make you memento mori
Ace anthems
My first request playlist, centered around "Just The Thing" by Meredith O'Connor
Here is all of them, and I am also announcing that I now take playlist requests! But I will ask that you only recommend me one playlist at a time, and that it's only centered around either a song or a certain mood (the lying down and looking up one and the feeling alive playlists are examples).

Locke & Key Release Date, Cast and Details for Netflix Series
https://ift.tt/361bGc5
After years of development, the TV series adaptation of IDW horror comic Locke & Key is headed for Netflix in 2020.

The Locke & Key TV series project has had a rough time, but its troubles finally appear to be over, thanks to Netflix.
Back in July 2016, THR revealed that Hulu had given the show adaptation of writer Joe Hill's IDW horror comic book series a pilot order, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) set to serve as showrunner. Auspiciously, Andy Muschietti (It, Mama) was on tap to direct the pilot after Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson had to withdraw.
Unfortunately, after all that, Hulu passed on the project! However, Netflix eventually came in for the rescue... even if said rescue involved scrapping Hulu's pilot. Regardless, the Locke & Key TV series is finally happening, officially greenlit as a 10-episode series for Netflix!
In the latest news on Netflix's Locke & Key, the reality of this long-beleaguered adaptation is finally becoming palpable, with the official reveal of a premiere date for the series, accompanied by the very first posters!
Locke & Key Release Date
Locke & Key is set to premiere on Netflix on Friday, February 7, 2020.
Locke & Key Poster
The premiere date reveal also came with the first bit of official ephemera in the form of a poster, which Netflix has also released in motion form, as seen below.

Locke & Key TV Series Cast
Tumblr media
Darby Stanchfield (Scandal, NCIS, Castle) will star in Netflix’s Locke & Key, reported Deadline. She will play Nina Locke, the widowed single mother of the three Locke children, who moves the family into their ancestral home, the Keyhouse, in Maine. However, the property has centuries of connections to the supernatural – and the circumstances of her husband’s death – and acts as a dimensional portal through which malevolent demons wish to cross. Nina was played by Frances O'Connor in Hulu's pilot, and by Miranda Otto in the nixed 2011 version.
She is joined by a young cast who will portray her onscreen children, the Locke siblings, on the streaming giant’s reworked version of the Locke & Key TV series.
Connor Jessup (American Crime, Falling Skies) will play Tyler Locke, who, as a teenager, is the oldest of the siblings.
Emilia Jones (Wolf Hall, Utopia) will play Kinsey Locke.
Jackson Robert Scott (It – as Georgie Denbrough) will play the youngest of the trio, Bode Locke. Interestingly, Scott was cast as Bode in the nixed Hulu iteration and, for now, stands as the only cast member retained by Netflix.
Also onboard are the following:
Sherri Saum (The Fosters), Felix Mallard (Neighbours) Petrice Jones (iBoy, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man), Griffin Gluck (American Vandal, Red Band Society) and Laysla De Oliveira (The Gifted, iZombie).
Locke & Key TV Series Details
While the streaming giant rescued the wayward project, the move involved crucial caveats: Netflix’s series order came with the confirmation that Locke & Key will go back to the drawing board, re-casting while redeveloping the scripts, essentially scrapping the Hulu pilot, which was directed by It helmer Andy Muschietti (who’s too busy with the sequel to handle the mulligan).
Interestingly, Netflix is opting to keep the Hulu iteration’s creative fulcrum, Joe Hill, who remains onboard as creator/writer/executive producer. The same goes for showrunner Carlton Cuse, known from Lost, The Strain, Bates Motel and Amazon’s upcoming Jack Ryan series. Cuse is now joined in that capacity by Meredith Averill, who’s worked on Jane the Virgin, Star-Crossed and The Good Wife, along with Netflix’s upcoming TV series horror reboot The Haunting of Hill House.
In 2016, IDW Entertainment released news that Locke & Key writer Joe Hill (he wrote the story for the comics, with art by Gabriel Rodriguez) was on board to write the pilot and executive produce the TV show adaptation as a straight-to-series project. It's unclear how Hulu and Cuse's involvement might change that plan, but Hill had previously said in a statement:
I love this story. The seven years I spent working on Locke & Key was the happiest creative experience of my life, and there still isn’t a day when I don’t think about those characters and miss visiting with them. The six books of the series are very like six seasons of a cable TV series, and so it feels only natural to bring that world to the little screen and to see if we can’t scare the pants off viewers everywhere.
Locke & Key begins with the story of three siblings returning to their family's ancestral home following the brutal and mysterious murder of their father. As they explore the house and its surroundings, it becomes clear that there are wonderful and terrible things lurking on the grounds. It is a comic book horror classic.
Hulu's scrapped Locke & Key pilot consisted of the following cast:
Frances O’Connor (The Conjuring 2, A.I. Artificial Intelligence) as Nina Locke. Sam Robards (Twisted, Gossip Girl) as Rendell Locke. Jack Mulhern (Walking to the Waterline) as Tyler Locke. Megan Charpentier (It, Mama) as Kinsey Locke. Jackson Robert Scott (It, Fear the Walking Dead) as Bode Locke. Nate Corddry (The Circle, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) as Duncan Locke. Owen Teague (It, Bloodline) as Sam Lesser. Lastly, Danny Glover was to play a cameo role as teacher Joe Ridgeway. Of course, there's another failed Locke & Key TV endeavor that predate Hulu's version.
Long before that, a TV show adaptation made it all the way to the pilot stage in 2011, but never garnered a pick-up. The TV adaptation had Josh Friedman as a showrunner (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Avatar 2) and an all-star cast that included Miranda Otto, Sarah Bolger, and Ksenia Solo. Check out the trailer...
youtube
Sadly, this version of Locke & Key never made it past a pilot, but the pop culture world seems better poised to embrace an onscreen version of this horror comic now. Not only are there way more comic book adaptations on TV and film, but Joe Hill has attained a better industry foothold, especially with the recent film adaptaion of Horns. Hopefully, the Netflix adaptation is good and garners enough of an audience to ensure its continuation. Universe, you owe us this.

NYFW DAY UNO: Women's F/W
RECAP:
As I arrived in New York to attend my fifth consecutive season of  New York Fashion Week during a blizzard storm, I couldn't help but to be as excited as the first time I visited the city. Every time I'm in New York I end up saying it was "bittersweet". The city always showed me a good time but also teaches me a lesson with every single stay. However this time around I felt more than prepare for the four days I would be spending there. I had rsvp and email my press kit to all the shows I was looking to attend and I had received my confirmations so I was ready to go. After a quick fresh up, I style myself in the first outfit. To head over to Style Fashion Week at Madison Square Garden.

Style Fashion Week: The Shows
I had the privilege to enjoy the start of Style Fashion Week by watching the Malan Breton | "Everywhere at the end of time..." runway show. Inspired from the silent film era with Frankie Grande, Kiera Chaplin, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Mason Grammer and Dylan Grieco. I also had the chance to see other feature designers like David Tupaz and Rich by Richie Rich.
The runways was full of special performances by Sky Ferreira, hip-hop artist Layzie Bone (Bone Thugs & Harmony), Pop Singer Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees), Miri Ben-Ari and Meredith O'Connor. Other performers included music stylings by Mims, Missals, JP Vance, Squidnice and Smooky MarGielaa and DJ JES. The event was packed crowd of consumers, fashion industry insiders, VIPs and celebrities including Jessica Pimentel, Nicole Arbour, Miss J Alexander, Michael Raven, Caila Quinn and Madeline Stuart. Style Fashion Week also collaborated with Russell Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation on an exclusive art installation for the Style Marketplace which also included immersed guests in fashion, art and commerce. Best part of Style Fashion Week this season was not working it and the great polaroid print outs I received from taking a photo on Instagram and #StyleFW. As I keep in schedule, my next stop was....
Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo: The Pop-Up Shop
Entering the Banana Republic pop-up shop on Broadway. I was escorted by sculpting trench coats wore by male models from the #BRSTYLERIDE to the media/interviewing area. To where I had the privilege to not only meet, speak and interview Olivia Palermo someone I have looked up to since I was 16 years old and my days of watching The City on MTV. My time at the pop-up shop was beyond pleasing the staff from Banana Republic were amazing host, proving tasty treats and refills of champagne for the parched fashionable attendees. As I made my way in line to meet Olivia Palermo I had the chance to speak with some fellow border neighbors from Canada Mr. Fab and Aldonab who happened to also be in attendance to the Michael Costello show, next on my schedule. As I finally got to Olivia Palermo, what was said is coming soon...! (Via video)
Michael Costello: How I Missed The Show But Catch Claire Sulmers On The Exit
Running around Skylight Clarkson Square trying to make it in time to the Michael Costello show was beyond an epic fail. After arriving at the location, but trying to find the correct entrance by being provided all sorts of directions. I finally found the correct entrance to Gallery I  where the show was already exiting. Sad and upset, I took a look around and knew I had missed the show. The Michael Costello runway was at the top of my list to watch and I was looking forward to sharing my experience firsthand with my fellow readers. As I made my way toward the exit I recognize a face I knew very well from my Instagram feed. Claire Sulmer the editor, chief and leader of Fashion Bomb Daily. Trying to gather my thoughts I went for it and interrupted her while on the phone for an unprompted interview. What was said is coming soon...! (Via video)
