10 DECEMBER 2024 || CHRISTMAS WITH THE MERCIAN REGIMENT

The Prince of Wales in his role as the Colonel-in-Chief of 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment attended the Regimental Christmas Event for families at Picton Barracks.

Upon arrival he met, the regiment's mascot Swaledale Ram - Private Derby. He then met with soldiers and their families hearing more about their experiences and roles within the Mercian Regiment.

He also spoke to personnel from different ranks across the Battalion who have gone above beyond in their roles through charity fundraising, volunteering and helping with extracurricular activities.

Finally, William helped give out gifts to the children of the families and listened to songs from the regiment's Fijian choir.

Dylan Potter, 14, made The Prince of Wales laugh after revealing he was wearing two Christmas jumpers. He said afterwards: 'I asked what does a prince do for fun?

He said:

'likes watching movies and hanging out with his children but because he is over 40 finds fun hard to come by.'

William also revealed that he has been watching Netflix with his wife, The Princess of Wales, including 'Black Doves'
