Hard agree. I will argue to my dying fucking breath that car interior ergonomics (not to mention aesthetics) peaked between the mid 80’s-mid 90’s
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean look at how lovely these interiors are, and how beautiful the layouts are. Full of physical buttons you can hit without taking your eyes off the road. Pleasant spaces to exist in, not greasy-fingerprint touchscreen eyesores reflecting the sun directly into your eyes everywhere. An era when car interiors were designed around the driver
Oh, and don’t get me started on fucking digital gauges with the info hidden behind seven sub-menus. Give me steam gauges and dials for all the fucking info I want damnit! I shouldn’t have to perform fifteen button pushes to find the damn engine coolant temperature!
[VW Golf, Jaguar XJ, Porsche 944, Mercedes Benz 500 SEC, Honda Prelude]
Sorry for being a Luddite but we need to do away with touch screen dashboards with a trillion menu options in cars. Bring back the physical buttons.

Everyone knows the acronym AMG, but many think it’s simply the name of the Mercedes-Benz racing department.

Which it is, actually, but not many know that it was born as a real independent company and that it was until the end of the eighties when it merged with Mercedes-Benz, which however kept its brand and a specific production line for its high performance models.

Since its appearance in 1990, the Mercedes 190 EVO II has polarized the market. Many love it and appreciate it as a true classic, others find it simply gruesome with its huge rear spoiler! 🏁 © Photos: @tomhainsphotography ARTICLE: As a homologation model for the DTM, the 190 EVO II was only built 500 times and is now a much sought-after speculation object. Many touring car fans still like to think back to the good old days, to Kurt Thiims and his accent, to Klaus Ludwig or the only woman who has won the DTM so far: Ellen Lohr. The EVO's performance is spectacular in any case! The performance figures were also impressive by then standards: the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine produced 235 hp, with a maximum of 245 Nm at 5,000 rpm. 17-inch wheels were an eye-catcher 25 years ago! Today, however, they look surprisingly tiny in the massive wheel arches. Anyone who has driven 190s once will still find their way around quickly today. Sports seats and additional instruments remind us of the power of the car. A glance at the gear knob also reveals which of the 500 units you are sitting in and reminds you that the first gear here - very sporty - is down on the left. FIGURES: Mercedes-Benz e190 EVO II • engine: 2.5 litre four-cylinder (in-line) • power: 235 hp • torque: 245 Nm • topspeed: 250 km/h • 0-100 km/h: 7,1 sec. • weight: 1.340 kg #LND #LegendsNeverDie https://www.instagram.com/p/CEJ3x1GAwhr/?igshid=11ev7shp2o6g
