Fucking in love with Mercedes Lackey for making Dirk, the soulmate love-interest of the main character of the novel, just shit ass ugly. Nearly repulsive to look at. I can’t think of many authors today who have the stones to make their characters gross looking
#When did we as a society stop making a big deal about loving people even if they’re ugly#I remember as a kid that it was drilled into me that personality was always more important than looks#while nowadays there’s such a focus on ‘everyone is beautiful omg 😍 even if you think you’re ugly you’re beautiful omg’ that#we’ve forgotten that being beautiful shouldn’t fucking matter. Like 1. ‘Ugly’ and ‘beautiful’ are such subjective concepts that we should#do away with them completely and 2. Ugly people deserve love and happiness#like.
