miss freya tartini: the hallucinating violinist a popular violinist living with schizophrenia who derives her compositions from a demon in her mind named mephistopheles. she is in the world's most abusive, manipulative and toxic relationship with a demon named rosier steinmann (tag) and he is genuinely so horrible to her. she's very sweet though and also very girlfail but she's just a baby so it's ok. she's friends/in a very unbalanced parasocial relationship with @tequila-sunfall's ferdinand who is trying very hard to help her :-) intro post + tag + fallen london profile + rosier/freya tag

dear lis, your unpopular opinions are always greatly appreciated and brighten up my days. sadly, most of the hp characters lack much needed depth in my opinion, let's not forget that ginny experienced severe trauma in her first year of school but it never gets talked about after? // aside from that, since you just talked about the kind of "bright" character that you don't like - would you share with us some books with actual bright characters that you enjoy?

thank you dear anon, asks like this always largely make up for any hate. i totally agree, i will never get over the fact ginny had that huge, deep, mad, twisted, interesting, ambiguous, traumatic experience with probably the most psychologically deadly of all voldemort’s horcruxes, killing and probably even being willing to die for him (at such a tender age nonetheless!), only to go, soon after, and fall in love with harry, the only other freaking human horcrux. that everyone in and out the series (jkr included) seem to find all this totally unimportant and normal, never addressing or diving deeper into the fact, it’s beyond me. it would have been one of the most interesting characterizations of the whole saga and would have made ginny one hell of an interesting female character, but nope. even to harry that his wife had funny pre-teen experiences with his twisted nemesis of whom he carried a piece within himself seems totally normal and unproblematic. amazing tbh.

as to my favorite bright characters, there are many different shades of intelligence and spirit that i appreciate in literature, so don’t be surprised to find really different kinds of people in my list. i’ll try to name a few off the top of my head:

batfamweek2018 prompt 4 AU (FATE GRAND ORDER CROSSOVER)

 (I tribute this chapter to the all of the Fate Grand Order players. Which I admit to JUST downloading today- and by today I mean right before putting this story together at (glances at clock) shortly before midnight the day before this prompt is due. In my defense, I didn't know there was an English release for the game.)

“I wonder who is going to be summoned next?” Asked the excited voice of a purple clad Avenger Class servant with blond hair, as she walks with two other heroic spirits hailing from the same legends. The taller of her two companions, a silent, black haired Assassin in a black and yellow costume, shrugs. The shorter one, however....

“Tt. You're assuming that our master are going to summon anyone. Need I remind you the summoning machine is a gacha machine, meaning it's a gamble to get a heroic spirit at all? Plus they've been getting a lot of those black keys blades recently.” The hooded Rider class scoffs, though not as harshly as he could as he was currently holding a black and white kitten, the name “Alfred” on it's collar. One would suppose that could be a side effect of his summoning under the Rider class, allowing him to bring forth any and all of his “pets” as part of his Noble Phantasm, though Goliath was currently playing with Jackie and Alice, also known as Assassin Class Servant Jack the Ripper and Caster Class Servant Nursery Rhyme, respectively, at the moment. Soft hearted furball.

“That was before Tim and Barbra lent their assistance to Tesla and Da Vinci. Not to mention Duke's suit giving them further ideas for increasing it's energy output... or something like that.” The Avenger replies.

“She's right. Plus Bruce lent some help too, Lil D. Surely you have faith in your dad's ability to make things work out, right?” A blue clad Assassin Class drops from the ceiling, releasing his Presence Concealment Class Skill as he does so.

A red clad Lancer, grimaces slightly as he comes from a nearby room. “... I just hope it isn't someone like Mephistopheles... he's too much like the Joker for my taste. And I already had enough of him not only back in life, but also the London Singularity.”

There was a collective shudder from the heroic spirits who were within hearing distance of the conversation who were around during said Singularity.

The group decides to go near the summoning room to see if it's anyone they know that's being summoned, as well as be able to aid in case of a malicious servant, assuming one was summoned. And given the rainbow colors coming out into the hallways, there definitely was one.

And technically, the servant summoned could qualify as both under the right circumstances.

“Archer Class Servant, Red Hood. So, it's the end of the world, and we're supposed to stop it? Heh, just like old times. Just don't expect me to not kill anyone, got it?” A leather jacket clad Servant, standing in the summoning circle, arms crossed on his chest, which bears the symbol of a bat. His gun holsters are empty, as they are summonable Noble Phantasms. A Red Helmet is on his head, completely covering it, but you can tell even with the synthesized voice that he's smirking.

“JAYBIRD!” The blue Assassin shouts, tackling the newly summoned Archer.

“GAH! Get off me, Dick Face! If I knew you were here, I wouldn't of bothered responding to the summons!”

The others there, including the only remaining Master, couldn't help but sweatdrop. Just another day in Chaldea.

The Fiend and the Fugitive - Scrapped Ideas

Onoskelis’ character role initially went to a sooty owl that would perch on Mephistopheles’ shoulder and act as a sort of guardian Angel urging him to repent. The owl was named Minerva. However, I found the concept too difficult to execute properly, so instead I made another demon character that brought out the softer side of my main villain, but still was clearly on his side and therefore evil.

Lucifer/Satan was originally going to make several appearances, purely to berate Mephistopheles for not having retrieved Stardust’s soul yet. I decided against this as it distracted from the main conflict of the story and also contradicted Mephistopheles’ own motive for being Stardust’s nemesis. I wanted his villainous goals to be his own rather than giving him simply be a minion for a Palpatine-esque Devil. I also thought that it may cost the script/film the PG rating I was aiming for.

An angelic dragon named Hala (strongly implied to be either an Angel or some sort of deity) was originally supposed to appear to give Stardust spiritual advice. I cut her role in the story out as I realised that having her there didn’t make Stardust a very active protagonist.

In relation to the aforementioned point, I sort of substituted Hala with a minor character who appears near the end of the script. A Japanese water dragon briefly asks Stardust if he’s ok and while he isn’t named in dialogue, this dragon is Stardust’s grandfather and is named Mitsuo.

Hala and Lucifer were going to have a battle. Lucifer would have turned into a giant snake and tried to suffocate Hala, who would have then bitten him, forcing him to let go and then chasing him back to Hell. Due to both characters being cut, this scene was cut as well. Although I may include it in a nightmare sequence in the final product.

Yet another character whose role was hugely downgraded was the human mayor of Kensington-on-Wolford, simply known as Mayor Crawford. Aside from being present at a couple of pivotal moments and showing his willingness to end the segregation between man and dragon, he doesn’t do very much and is simply referred to as “the mayor”

The story was originally going to be told in strict chronological order before I decided the use of flashbacks would be more affective.

In the aforementioned first draft, Mephistopheles would have met Stardust drowning his sorrows in a pub rather than taking shelter in a bus stop. I changed this because I couldn’t write the setting effectively, and it kept dragging whenever I tried.

Again related to the point above, Stardust wasn’t actually going to sign away his soul of his own accord. Mephistopheles basically brainwashed him into doing it. I changed this because, again, it didn’t make Stardust an active protagonist, and it made Mephistopheles way more insidious (and in all the wrongs ways) than I wanted him to be.

At one point, Mitsuo had a bigger role and was going to sacrifice himself for Stardust. Again, couldn’t write it properly and I didn’t want to kill him off, so I didn’t.

Mephistopheles’ son, Rosier, was going to appear briefly in the climax, taunting Stardust and threatening to eat his soul. This was cut out bc it didn’t really serve any purpose and simply weighed things down.

A number for draft titles that this script went through include Lex Talionis (a Latin term meaning “an eye for an eye”), The House Of Stardust, Dragons On The Rooftops, A Tale Of Two Traitors and even The Diabolical Misadventures of Mephistopheles.
