What's your HC for the girl Tobias and Ethan fell for at med school?
Anon! Thank you so much for this question. I know this has been sitting for a while because I wanted to develop the HC thoroughly and didn't want to rush into it. I wanted to make beautifully flawed characters without putting the entire blame on one person. I don't know if I succeeded but I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.
The Hopkins Girl
Dr. Melissa Cabrera (FC : Jessica Alba)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Melissa Daniela Cabrera was brought up by a single mother who worked many odd jobs to provide for her and her sister, after she walked away from an abusive marriage.
She had always been focused, brilliant, straight A student. Valedictorian and top of her class. So the only difficulty she faced while joining the prestigious Johns Hopkins University was leaving her family alone at Seattle after completing her undergrad at University of Washington.
She was in the next graduating class after Ethan and Tobias.
Melissa didn't care for romance much. Rather she always thought she didn't have time for it as the only goal she had in her life was to stand beside her mom and support her.
She also gave up on men and relationships after witnessing the disastrous marriage her parents had and how it almost killed her mom to get a divorce and complete custody of her kids.
All was fine until she met Tobias Carrick. She was so charmed and fascinated by him that it broke down all her barriers and she desperately craved him, his attention or affection.
Tobias back then was quite a Playboy. Never having a serious relationship lasting more than a couple months. When Melissa finally declared her feelings, Tobias let her down slowly, he just wasn't interested in her and didn't find her attractive.
Melissa was heartbroken, but she was strong enough not to show it on her face. She decided to befriend Tobias instead, maybe not his love but atleast she would have his company and someday maybe his opinion would change.
The two started hanging out, and since Tobias and Ethan were quite inseparable back then Melissa also started hanging out with Ethan as well. The three became tight friends pretty fast.
Ethan was unaware of the history Tobias and Melissa shared. Having a lot in common between himself and Melissa he slowly started falling for her and so did Melissa.
After they became official, Tobias was happy for them but a small part of him was jealous. Jealous of the love they shared beyond lust and physical chemistry, jealous of his best friend, and he wondered how differently it would go if he hadn't said no to Melissa back then. But he never brought these feelings to the surface.
Fast forward to 6 months before Ethan and Tobias graduate. They had to submit a paper for their final term. Tobias was working alone but Ethan decided to team up with Melissa.
They both worked well together, but three days before the submission Melissa decided to remove Ethan's name from the paper and just submit it as her own.
Tobias knew about this but at this point he was tired of coming in second every semester. He knew he had to one-up Ethan if he wanted that spot in Edenbrook, he wasn't just going to sit back and let Ethan Ramsey have everything he deserved : the girl, the residency and the relationship. So Tobias decided to keep shut.
But lies don't stay buried forever, Ethan came to know about it and he was furious and shocked at the betrayal he had received from the two people he had trusted the most in the world. He begged the professor for some extra time and since his track record was very clean the prof decided to give him two extra days.
In the meantime Tobias' conscience had caught up with him, he felt guilty and apologized profusely, he even offered to put Ethan's name on his own paper. But Ethan was having none of it, he shut him out completely.
Melissa took opportunity of the mistrust between the two friends. She played the victim card, and fed Tobias lies on how Ethan would have done the same thing if he was in Tobias' place and he did nothing wrong. Tobias was just happy that someone would talk to him and see his point. And in a moment of hurt and comfort they slept together.
On graduation day, Ethan was still top of his class with his father cheering him on loudly. Tobias on the other hand came in second, his entire family and Melissa hollering as he walked the stage.
Melissa graduated next year at the top of her class with specialization in oncology. When she got matched into Harvard Medical School's residency. She didn't think twice before breaking up with Tobias. Because her number one dream in life was about to come true.
She is presently chief of Oncology at Mayo Clinic.

A Case of You
Summary: You and a certain redhead are deeply, and undeniably in love- although the two of you don't realize it. Cue Barbara and someone unexpected to fix that for you on Fourth of July.
WC: ~5.4k
(lemme know if you wanna hear my rendition of the song mentioned in this fic :))
Tumblr media
It’s an odd situation that you’ve found yourself in. You’ve been living in Philadelphia for a while now. You somehow manage to scrounge up enough money after years of odd jobs, a few investments, and your day job of teaching at Abbott Elementary to finally be able to afford a house. It’s a beautiful little house- one that you’ve been able to turn into something of a quaint little cottage core house. Your backyard is filled with flowers and emulates what some might say is a house in the movies.
And because you finally have a house that you’re proud of, you invite your folks to the city of brotherly love for Fourth of July. There’s no place like the founding city of the country to be in for the day. From the red and blue dyed beers, to the fireworks that burst over the museum of art (and you’ll have a beautiful view of the display room your house), your new city is one of the best places to be.
Once your coworkers find out that you’ll have the view that they’ve always wanted, it’s decided that you’re going to be hosting the holiday not only for your family, but for your work family as well. So, it might be a little crowded, but… it’ll be fun. That’s what you tell yourself. It’ll be fine.
So here you are, on July 3rd, frantically cleaning your house. Not that it’s messy by any means, but you want to impress. Your house is cozy, and you want to give off the effect that it’s well lived in (and it is) while maintaining the sense that you’re clean and proud of the place that you inhabit. It’s not all that hard. There are pictures dressing the walls, beautiful paintings that you’ve done, little knick knacks that you’ve collected over the years. It all feels homey.
But still, you’re making sure that it’s presentable enough that you won’t get ridiculed and lectured by your mother and your coworkers won’t make fun of your home.
That is, until your cell phone rings. Expecting it to be your mother, letting you know that she and your father have landed, you answer the phone, “Hey Mom.”
“Not your mom,” a voice that you’ve been missing comes through the phone.
Your brow furrows as you pause your scrubbing the toilet as you glance at your phone. “Melissa?”
“Yeah, hun. Just callin’ to see if you needed any help with the party tomorrow,” the redhead tells you. “Any cleaning or want me to bring anything or something?”
You bite your lip. You wouldn’t ever admit it out loud, but the person that you’re trying to impress besides your mother is Melissa- the woman that you’ve been hopelessly in love with since you started working at Abbott. “Uhm… I’m just cleaning the last few things now,” you tell her honestly. “But I really do appreciate the-”
“What’s ‘the last few things’? Because you’ve told me that you only have a few things to get done before you head home from work, and then I find out that you stayed at the school so long Mr. J handed you his keys to lock up the building for the night.”
You have to let out a laugh at that memory. You sigh softly as you decide to tell her the truth. “I still have to finish cleaning up the living room and the kitchen. But it really isn’t all that-”
“Jeet?” At your silence, the redhead continues. “I’m bringing over drinks and dinner and helping you clean. I’ll be over in an hour.”
“Melissa,” you try to protest.
She’s quick to cut your argument off though. “I’ll see you in an hour, hopefully less than that.”
And then you hear the phone line disconnect, and you quietly groan to yourself as you look at your appearance. You’re in your cleaning clothes that are covered with bleach stains, your hair is tied up messily, and makeup hasn’t been applied since probably the last day of school. You look a mess. With a sigh, you head for your bedroom to at least put on your face- you want to look at least somewhat presentable.
The redheaded second grade teacher is knocking at your door less than an hour later.
“Hey,” you smile softly as you open the door. She’s standing there with a case of beer and a bag of what you can only assume is dinner. And somehow, even in just shorts and a tee shirt, she looks as incredible as ever. You find yourself blushing.
“Are you gonna let me in, or should we just have dinner outside?” Melissa quips.
You let out a small, nervous laugh. “No, no, come in. P-Please don’t mind the mess.”
“You’re cleaning, I’m ready to clean,” the woman laughs. “It’s all good. Let’s eat though first, yeah?”
Dinner is nice. The two of you chat about what you’ve been up to since school let out for the summer and potential plans for trips that either of you are looking to take.
“I just don’t have all that many friends in the area,” you admit shyly. “So, most of my trips are solo.”
“You do have friends in the area,” Melissa refutes. “You got the Abbott group. You got me.” She nudges you with her elbow.
“I do,” you sigh softly. “I just don’t want to be a bother.”
“A lot of people are bothers to me,” the redhead laughs. Then she turns serious. “You ain’t one of ‘em.”
You roll your eyes playfully. “How kind of you to say.”
“If you ain’t doin’ nothin’, I spend a lot of time down at the shore in July,” Melissa offers casually.
You can’t help but smile. “That- that’d be nice, yeah.”
“Well,” your coworker sighs as she sets down her fork and begins to clean up. “This house won’t clean itself. So what do you want me to help you with?”
“You helped enough by making sure I ate dinner,” you tell her with earnest. “You don’t have to-”
“I’m helping, so just tell me what to do, or I’ll start snooping around for cleaning supplies anyway.”
The two of you clean the kitchen and the living room as music floats through your house from your record player.
“You got quite the selection,” Melissa tells you as she dusts the case that holds all of your music. “It ain’t half bad.”
You blush. Your music taste is all over the place.
“Mind if I pick an album to listen to next?”
“Of course not,” you call from the next room over. “Pick whatever.”
You expect her to pick a rock band, so when Joni Mitchell’s hauntingly beautiful voice begins to dance in the air, you’re a bit shocked.
Still, you let the music take over your heart and your soul, and when “A Case of You” starts, you can’t stop yourself from singing along softly. As you sing the words to yourself, you realize that you would drink a case of Melissa and still be on your feet. There’s something about her that is so intoxicating and yet always leaves you on your feet.
Apparently though, your voice travels more than you were aware of. In the living room, Melissa can hear your gentle melody. Her cleaning pauses as she silently makes her way to where she can hear your voice better.
You’re standing there scrubbing the sink as you quietly echo Joni Mitchell’s vocals. It isn’t until the song is over that you hear a different voice.
“You sing real good,” the redhead compliments quietly.
Instinctively, you jump. You weren’t expecting her to hear you. And then your face flushes as you turn to face her. “I- uh…” You can’t get much out than that. You fumble for words for a few seconds before you just barely whisper out an apology.
“You ain’t got nothin’ to be sorry for,” Melissa smiles. “I think I like your version more.”
Your jaw practically drops at those words. “Oh, I- uh, thank you. But nobody can sing it like Joni.”
“I think you did it,” the redhead tells you, and you can tell in her voice that she truly means it. “I saw the guitar in your living room too. You play?”
You shrug. “Kind of.” You don’t want to admit that you’ve been playing for quite some time and oversell yourself- better to underestimate than over.
“Well, after we’re finished cleaning, I think I should get to hear it.”
You blush. “Maybe.”
By the time the two of you have the house straightened up to your liking, it’s quite late. If you’re being honest too, with the amount of alcohol that the two of you have consumed tonight, you aren’t necessarily comfortable with sending Melissa on her way.
“So, I believe you owe me a song,” your colleague teases you as she opens up another beer and settles on your couch.
“I was hoping you’d forget,” you laugh as you sit next to her.
“I’d never forget that voice,” the redhead smiles innocently. “C’mon, just one song?”
With a heavy sigh and a dramatic eye roll, you reach for the guitar that you keep in the corner of the room. You tune it up quickly, chuckling when you see the impressed look that Melissa wears on her face when you don’t actually need a tuner.
You strum the guitar a few times to ensure that it’s tuned to your liking before beginning to play.
Of course, you play your own rendition of “A Case of You” to prove to Melissa that you simply can’t do the song justice the way that Joni Mitchell does. Your approach doesn’t work. By the time you’re finished fingerpicking the last few notes, green eyes are wide and in shock.
“What?” you ask weakly. “I told you I only kind of play.”
“That’s a lot more than ‘kind of’,” the second grade teacher says. “You should be teaching Music, not fourth grade.”
You shake your head. “If I had to do it for a living, I’d hate it. But as a hobby, I do love it.”
“Play another for me,” Melissa requests as she leans back and takes another sip of her drink.
Somehow, the two of you end up going through another two drinks as you give the redhead her own personalized concert. Those sparkling green eyes stay mesmerized with your charming voice as you tell her the stories behind why you learned a few select songs, how you wrote a few, and the way that your melodies are nothing but soothing.
“You should be out in LA writing music,” Melissa tells you. “You’re… incredible.”
Your already red and warm cheeks from the alcohol only become more flushed at her kind words. You can only set the instrument down in response.
“I think I’m done for tonight,” you chuckle as you sip your beverage.
The redhead sighs softly. “I guess I should head out for the night.”
“Stay,” you tell her quickly- probably a bit too quickly. “You’ve had more than enough to drink, it’s late, and I don’t want you out there driving.”
The smirk that tugs at Melissa’s lips, along with that mischievous glint in her eyes gets you to look at her curiously.
“Somehow I knew that when I brought drinks over that would be your response, so I packed a bag,” the redhead reveals. “Let me just go grab my stuff from my car."
You can’t help but throw back your head with laughter. “Of course you thought that.”
“Was I wrong?” your coworker teases.
The two of you end up sharing a bed that night, and when your alarm goes off the next morning, despite the fact that it’s July, you find yourself cold. You turn over, only to discover that the redhead isn’t next to you.
But you can hear soft humming coming from downstairs, along with the record player. She’s downstairs. And then once you’ve woken up a bit more, you can smell the coffee and breakfast being made. You make your way downstairs and can’t stop yourself from practically drinking in the sight of Melissa Schemmenti cooking you breakfast.
She must hear your footsteps, because she turns on her heel and smiles at you. “Hope you don’t mind that I made breakfast.”
“I’ll never pass up a Schemmenti meal,” you tease. “You know that.”
It’s only a few minutes before the two of you are sitting at the kitchen table with plates in front of you.
“You know you cuddle in your sleep?” Melissa asks.
You turn a violent shade of red. “S-sorry.”
She shrugs. “Don’t be. It was nice.”
Your heart flutters. You never thought that the rough and tough Melissa Schemmenti would be one for cuddling, but here she is.
Breakfast is nice and warm, and you can’t help the blush in your cheeks as the two of you clean in a comfortable silence. More than once, the two of you accidentally brush hands together or her hand finds the small of your back to guide you out of her way.
The both of you get ready for this party, and by the time you’re making your way down the steps to change the record, your doorbell is ringing.
It’s your parents- of course they show up first. It’s not that you aren’t happy to see them, but you wish the house was a bit more full so that you wouldn’t get the third degree as soon as you see your mother.
“Is it Barb?” Melissa’s voice floats down the steps before she comes into sight. When she turns the corner, she sees your parents still standing on the front step. “Oh.”
“Who are you?” your mother eyes your coworker warily.
“Melissa,” the redhead states. “Just a coworker of Y/N’s.”
Your mother hums quietly before inviting herself in. Her eyes glance around your place with a slight frown. “This isn’t much.”
“It isn’t,” you mumble. “But I very much like where I live and how I live.”
“When you said you could afford to buy a house, I was expecting more.”
“Jane, lay off,” your father cuts in. “Y/N, your house is very… you. I like it.”
You’re not quite sure what to say to that. So you simply smile at your father as a silent ‘thank you’ and direct the conversation elsewhere, praying that your coworkers show soon. “Did you want anything to drink? I have wine in the fridge, or I just have to set out the ice for the coo- shoot.”
“What is it?” Melissa asks, brows furrowed with concern.
“I forgot to buy ice yesterday.”
“Oh,” the redhead rolls her eyes as her arm wraps around your waist. “I can just run to the corner store real quick and grab some.”
Your eyes soften significantly as Melissa Schemmenti saves the day. “Thank you.”
“Not a problem, hun.” She grabs her purse from the kitchen table and heads out with a soft hum, only to pop back in. “You need anything else? Or… do you guys want anything?” she directs that last part at your parents.
All three of you shake your heads, so she smiles that Philly smile of hers and heads out.  You momentarily forget that your parents are present, and you can’t help the shy smile and blush that creeps into your cheeks as you watch her figure leave.
“Your little friend is very pretty,” your mother states once the door is shut.
You turn to her sharply. “Oh?”
“She’s very pretty,” your mom says again.
“Oh, good. I thought it was just me,” you mutter.
“No,” your father cuts in this time. “It’s a fact. You should probably get a move on if you want to do something about that. A girl that pretty won’t be single for long.”
“I was planning on pining from afar for anywhere from two to ten years and seeing where that got me. Probably nowhere, but I won’t know until I try,” you quip cheekily. “
"Your mother and I both saw the way she looks at you- she definitely has a thing for you too,” your father tells you. “Just… think on it. Yeah?”
You roll your eyes dramatically, and sigh. “Just… don’t go doing your meddling, please?”
“I won’t,” your dad raises his hands in mock surrender. Your mother, on the other hand though, stays quietly.
Melissa makes her way into the house again not twenty minutes later, a smile dancing on her lips. “The ice is in the cooler, along with the drinks.”
“Thank you,” you smile at her warmly. You then note that she has three drinks in her hand: a beer for her and your father, and a seltzer for you. She passes them out silently before cracking hers open and taking a sip.
She then leans in and wraps an arm around your waist again before mumbling into your ear, “If my mother said that to me about a house this beautiful, I would’ve lit the trash can on fire.”
The giggle that erupts from your soul is hard to contain. Thankfully, you don’t have a chance to say anything else because your doorbell rings. And when the two of you go to open the door, you’re more than pleased to see the entirety of the Abbott clan. Anything to get your mother’s attention off of you.
As it turns out, your mother and Barbara seem to get along swimmingly. What surprises you is how much your mother likes Janine and Ava as well. Your father quite enjoys Mr. Johnson’s tales, is able to talk sports with Gregory, and even falls for Jacob’s awkward charm. And Melissa is able to meander through your backyard with you as you ensure that nothing gets too out of hand.
When you’re chatting with your father and Mr. Johnson, your mother glances over at you. Melissa has an arm slung around your shoulder, and you don’t seem to mind it one bit.
“Tell me,” your mother implores Barbara. “Melissa.”
“What about her, dear?”
“Her and my daughter.”
“Oh,” the kindergarten teacher chuckles as she sips on her wine. “Those two have been pining for each other for years. If you ask me, it’s just a matter of time before they finally pull their heads out of their asses and get together.”
Your mother sighs a breath of relief. “I’m glad I’m not the only one to notice.”
“Oh, you aren’t, Jane,” Barb laughs. “Don’t tell either of them, but we have a bet on how long it’ll take them to finally start dating. I said by the end of July. Everyone else still thinks they’ll be dancing around it come the beginning of the school year.”
“While I don’t approve of a lot of the choices my daughter has made,” your mother sighs. “Including moving away from us, I do want her to be happy. Do you think she’ll be happy with Melissa?”
“That daughter of yours is never happier than when she’s with Melissa,” Barbara states simply. “And just so you’re aware: your daughter has done a whole lot of good while she’s been out here with us. We are very proud of her, and you should be too. I know she sometimes feels that she isn’t good enough for you.”
Your mother bites her lip, a bit ashamed at how she knows she’s made you feel- both today and in the past. “I suppose you’re right. I’ll mend that.”
“As you should.”
“But for now… my husband promised he wouldn’t meddle in her love life, but I made no such promise. Should we win that bet for you?”
The kindergarten teacher is clearly intrigued as she raises a brow. “And how do you propose we would do that?”
Their plan, as it turns out, is not the most intricate. It’s to simply get the two of you hammered while your mother quietly feeds you comments about how you’re already practically in a relationship with the redhead. Meanwhile, Barbara will plant that same seed in Melissa’s head before daring her to just make a move- Melissa is never one to turn down a dare while intoxicated; that’s how she ended up doing cartwheels on South Street one night after a particularly wild night at Oscar’s.
“You know she spent the night last night?” Barbara asks your mother. “Came over to help clean and ended up just staying.”
Your mother’s perfectly sculpted brow lifts. “I just assumed she was the first one here.”
“Nope,” your mother smirks. “I was supposed to pick her up so all of us Abbott people could come together.”
“Interesting… if you’ll excuse me, I believe I have some snooping to do.” With that, your mother rises from her seat and enters your house. Immediately, her eyes turn to the steps where your room and main bathroom are. She ascends up the steps. Melissa’s things, at least that’s what she assumes, are still scattered around in the bathroom. And… bingo: two toothbrushes. Then her eyes wander into the bedroom. Your mother knows that you don’t typically make the bed, but she is surprised to see that both sides of the bed are disheveled- bodies had clearly been on both sides.
Meanwhile, outside, Barbara makes her way over to you and Melissa.
“Where’d my mom go?” you ask.
“Bathroom,” Barb tells you gently. Her eyes don’t miss the fact that the redhead’s arm is still around you. “You two seem to be having a nice time.”
Green eyes glare at her work best friend, but you just smile and lean into Melissa. That glare washes right off of her face.
“It’s nice,” you smile. God, that smile of yours has the second grade teacher wrapped around your finger. “I’m almost done my drink though.”
That’s all the kindergarten teacher needs to hear to begin her side of the plan. “Let me get you both drinks.”
“Oh, I can get them for us,” Melissa tells your coworker. Her hand slips away from your back, and it’s odd that you feel the slightest bit cold without her holding you.
The kindergarten teacher watches the way that your eyes linger on Melissa’s figure. And when she’s bringing back the drinks, you simply attach yourself to her hip again.
“Cheers,” Barb smiles as she lifts her glass in the air. The three of you clink, and then drink. She makes a mental note to pace herself while raising her glass in your direction often. Melissa and you never turn down a toasted drink.
When Barbara sees your mother make her way back out, she moseys over. “What did you find?”
“Those two are so in a relationship, even if they aren’t admitting it. They shared a bed and everything!”
“Well, I’ve already initiated them getting drunk,” Barb informs your mom.
“Perfect,” your mother grins. Her eyes glance in the direction that you and your coworker are in. “Those two are idiots if they don’t think they’re in love. Well, time to go start.”
When you see your mother walking in your direction, you simply tap your can with Melissa’s before downing a good portion of it. The redhead follows your actions, although her eyes do widen when she sees how much and how quickly you’re drinking.
“My dear,” your mother starts. “Can I have a word with you?”
With a soft sigh, you nod and allow her to pull you in another direction.
“What, Mom?”
“Don’t take that tone with me,” your mother instructs strictly. Then she softens significantly, and you feel like you’re a young child again. She used to look at you with so much love. “I just… wanted to apologize.”
“For?” you raise a brow.
“The things I’ve said about your career choices and the likes,” your mother sighs sheepishly. “I- I am very proud of you. I hope you know that.”
You frankly aren’t sure what you’re supposed to say to that, so you just give a sad smile. “Thank you for saying that, Mom.”
“I know that you probably don’t believe me, but I am very proud of you. You’re shaping the future generations, and you’ve been able to make it out here on your own. You seem to have a lovely work life, and… you’re a hell of a lot happier here than you were back home.”
“I am,” you admit. “I love it here, Ma.”
“That’s all I could ever want in this life for you- happiness,” your mom smiles as she squeezes your hand. “My sunshine deserves sunshine.”
“Thank you, Mom.”
“I think I know how you could be happier though.”
“I’m not moving back-”
“I’m not asking you to move back home,” your mother rolls her eyes. “I’m asking you to pull your head out of your ass and get with that little friend of yours already.”
“I thought I told you and Dad not to meddle in my life love,” you smirk.
Your mother replicates your facial expression- one of mischief. “I never agreed to that, dear. But I mean, come on. It’s quite clear to me that you have feelings for her.”
“So what if I do?”
“It’s also quite obvious to me that she reciprocates those feelings for you,” your mother states. “I mean, the two of you act as though you’re already together as it is.”
“We do not,” you blush.
“She stayed at your house last night, the two of you shared a bed, her toothbrush is right next to yours in the holder.”
“Friends stay over at each other’s houses sometimes,” you counter.
“She’s been hanging off of you all day,” your mother points out. “She calls you hun.”
“She calls every one ‘hun’.”
“Her eyes never leave you, and your eyes never leave her. Just admit that you’re in love with her. And she’s in love with you.”
“She is not,” you roll your eyes.
“All I’m saying is: the two of you act like you’re in a relationship already. Just… think about your happiness for your ol’ Ma. I do want grandkids at some point, you know.”
Barbara grabs her work wife by the arm. “Cheers!”
The redhead only throws back her head to laugh before taking a long swig.
“So when are you gonna just tell that girl that you’re in love with her?” the kindergarten teacher probes.
“Never,” Melissa rolls her eyes. “I plan on pining from afar for… forever. There ain’t no way someone like that would ever want me.”
“I see the way she looks at you, Melissa,” Barbara reminds her friend. “She loves you, and the two of you act like you’re in a relationship as it is.”
“No we don’t.” The pointed look from her coworker has the redhead blushing. “Okay, maybe we do. But there’s a difference between acting like it, and actually being in a relationship.”
“I think you should go for it,” Barb says. “Tonight.”
“What?” Green eyes go wide.
“Why not? Nothing is more romantic than fireworks. And, the two of you are drunk, and if it doesn’t feel right you can always blame it on the booze.”
The second grade teacher bites her lip. “I don’t know.”
“Just… think about it.”
No sooner is the redhead back at your side, holding you by the hip again. And while she seems like everything is wonderful and there is nothing but pleasant thoughts going on in her head, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Her mind is swirling with what it would be like to kiss you, to be in a relationship with you.
Maybe, Melissa thinks to herself.
Well, that maybe turns into an Absolutely I will, when Barbara dares her a few hours later to do something about the mutual pining that is going on between the two of you.
“I dare you to kiss her while the fireworks are going on,” the kindergarten teacher smirks, pretty intoxicated herself.
“I will,” the redhead chuckles, never one to turn down a dare.
By the time the fireworks start going off, everyone is either on a blanket that they had brought or in a chair that lived at your house. Of course, you’re the last to search a seat due to your expert hosting skills, and you find yourself coming up with nothing.
“Come here,” Melissa rolls her eyes. As if you would find anywhere else to be but near the redhead. You stand beside her, ready to take in the spectacle that is about to light up the sky. And in a daring move, the second grade teacher easily tugs you into her lap. She her arms around your midsection and rests her chin on your back.
Your mother nudges Barbara with her elbow, grinning from ear to ear. “You think it’s gonna happen?”
“I dared Melissa to,” the kindergarten teacher mutters back. “So, yeah.”
“Perfect.”
As the first fireworks go off, you can feel the excitement practically radiating off of Melissa. It’s adorable when you turn and see how awestruck she is by the lights in the sky. Your coworkers are entirely entranced by the display, and when it’s clear that the finale is about to take place, you expect to see those green eyes focused on the dark night above you. But instead, the redhead is looking directly at you.
“Lis,” you chuckle, and you try to turn her head so she can look up at the last of the fireworks. She doesn’t seem to care about the spectacle. No, her eyes are trained on you. “You’re gonna miss the finale.”
“I don’t care,” the redhead breathes.
“But they’re beautiful,” you whisper.
“Not as beautiful as you,” Melissa tells you quietly. And then her lips meet yours. And… the fireworks in the sky are no comparison to the fireworks in your heart.
Everyone that had gathered at your house is mesmerized by the display in the sky- all except your mother and Barbara. Silently, they high five before turning their eyes back to the finale of the fireworks.
Once the fireworks are over, it isn’t long before your friends and family begin to file out of your house.
“Don’t think that we aren’t talking about that kiss that I saw,” your mother whispers to you as she hugs you goodbye. Immediately, your cheeks flush red. But you can’t say anything, because she’s off of you, and giving Melissa a hug goodbye.
Barbara, on the other hand, doesn’t give any inclination that she knows what had taken place just a few short minutes ago. She heads out with a hug and a kiss to your cheek, thanking you for your wonderful hospitality.
And then you and the redhead are alone. And before you know it, her lips are back on yours.
Fast forward to the end of Summer, and Melissa has been your girlfriend since the Fourth. It’s been a wonderful summer spent down at the beach with her, and all too soon you’re walking back into the halls of Abbott.
Barbara doesn’t say anything when she sees the two of you walk in together or the way that Melissa instinctively prepares your morning beverage for you. No. She chooses to wait until the last of your Abbott family has made their way into the staff lounge.
“So,” the kindergarten teacher claps her hands together with a bright grin on her face. “Where’s my money?”
“Your money?” your girlfriend raises a brow.
“My money,” Barbara states with a smile.
“For what?” Jacob asks.
“The bet.”
“No one won,” Ava rolls her eyes. “Not yet at least. I still got my bet going.”
“That’s where you would be wrong,” the kindergarten teacher reveals. “Y/N and Melissa got together on Fourth of July.”
Your jaw nearly drops. “What?”
“You heard what I said, baby.”
“H-how?”
“While everyone else was watching the fireworks, I saw what I needed to see. So, just confirm it so I can win my three-hundred dollars.”
“Three hundred dollars?” Melissa asks incredulously. At her best friend’s nod, the redhead just continues to flounder for words.
“I ain’t payin’ until one of them confirms.”
You sheepishly smile as you raise the two of your hands from under the table, intertwined.

On Your Side
Melissa Schemmenti x Reader based off of these prompts: “Please don’t lie to me again, I can’t take it.” And “Go with me?” “As long as you hold my hand.” Kinda ooc Melissa? BFFs Melissa and Jacob.
If Melissa had known how her week would start she would’ve stayed on the couch with you on Sunday instead of hosting family dinner. The day starts just as it always does, you curled up behind the redhead with your arm wrapped around her in a comforting hold lazily moving your fingers up and down the soft skin of her stomach.
“I have to get up, Amore.” Melissa hums through a stretch turning to face you.
Meeting green eyes and a freckle dusted nose you crane your neck kissing the tip of her nose making her smile. “You sure I can’t talk you into canceling and staying in this nice, comfy bed with me all day?”
Melissa laughs pecking your lips. “I love the sound of that. But you know how my mom is.”
As if right on cue, a knock comes from the bedroom door with a frantic Jacob on the other side.
“Mel Mel! I scrubbed the living room, dusted the plastic, and wiped down the china cabinet. We’re on schedule!”
“I do love that kid.” Melissa whispers with an adoring smile, playing with your hair as she lifts her head.
“Thanks, Jacob! I’ll be out in a minute!”
Sighing contently you close your eyes for a moment longer enjoying the warmth of the space you two share. “I suppose I’ll let you go.” You joke shifting to sit up.
“You’re comin’ back tonight right?” Melissa asks as she gets out of bed, milky skin on full display in the morning sun rays.
“Of course. Maybe I can get some lesson planning done without Venus herself distracting me for a few hours.”
“I didn’t hear you complaining last night,” the redhead tosses a wicked grin over her shoulder.
Leaving Melissa’s house with a kiss, you don’t think anything of the family get together as you get chores and work done at home. You’ve been together for about six months, but Melissa wasn’t ready to subject you to a family dinner just yet. Hours later, Melissa is baking to death in the kitchen while Jacob runs around like the energizer bunny entertaining the Schemmenti family.
“Melissa, there’s a guy here.” Jacob whips around the corner in frantic fashion.
“Yeah, my cousins and uncles are out there. Lots of guys around.”
“No, Melissa. your mother invited a guy over here. To see you.”
Melissa looks at the young teacher confused, taking the dish towel off of her shoulder as she moves through the door to the noisy dining room. The cousins are sat around munching, the uncles are yelling at their sons, and Teresa is smiling at a tall man with dark hair that Melissa hasn’t seen since her own wedding.
“Ma, you didn’t tell me to set an extra plate.” She huffs over the noise. “Hey, Nathan. Good to see ya.”
“Hey, Mel. I didn’t mean to crash, your mom called me up the other day.” Nathan chuckles, a bottle of wine in hand offering it out.
“Don’t worry about it,” Melissa gives a friendly smile taking the bottle putting it with the others on the table.
As everyone settles at the table and digs into their plates, Melissa soon realizes why her mom invited an old friend over.
“Melissa, Nathan is single you know.” The older woman smiles.
“Oh yeah? Ya know, you’d like my boss at Abbott. She’s- something.” She chuckles not thinking anything of the comment until she sees Kristen Marie shoot their mother a look.
“I invited him here for you, silly.” Teresa shoots back sipping her wine.
Nathan looks confused, Melissa looks angry, and Jacob looks like he’s just seen the devil himself.
“Ma, don’t start with me.” Melissa rolls her eyes, the family now eerily quiet at the table as the redhead brushes the comment off. “Jacob, how’s the garlic bread?”
And that was the end of that. Until everyone but Teresa and Kristen Marie leave the house. Nathan left apologizing to Melissa, now the redhead has to deal with the matriarch of the family. Cleaning the table of dishes Jacob keeps his head down trying to keep his attention elsewhere as the three women stand in the kitchen.
“What the hell was that, ma?” Melissa demands crossing her arms. Had she done this as a child, she most definitely would have been swatted with the wooden spoon.
“What? I was only trying to help you, Melissa.” She shrugs continuing to wash a pan.
Kristen Marie sips more wine, eyes going back and forth between the two like watching a tennis match.
“Help me with what? Make my dinner uncomfortable for no reason?” Melissa quirks a brow not backing down.
“Is it so bad I want my daughter to settle down again?”
“Ma!” She finally snaps. “I am settled down, you know I have a girlfriend.”
“Oh Melissa, come on. When you get out of your midlife crisis you’ll want to settle down properly.”
Kristen Marie opens her mouth but before she can say anything Jacob comes into the kitchen moving to stand between Melissa and Teresa. The redhead stands in what can only be described as shock, knowing that no matter what she won’t make her mother happy.
“Alright, I know I’m not a blood relative but I consider Melissa and I friends,” he glances over his shoulder at his older mentor, “and I can’t have you disrespecting her decisions in her own house. I hate confrontation and I kinda want to puke right now but I can’t listen to it anymore.” He rambles in Jacob like fashion.
This stuns the matriarch, rendering her speechless glaring daggers at the man.
“Pipsqueak is right.” Kristen Marie cuts in. “I like the girl, she’s the only one of Melly’s conquests that can keep up with my wit.”
“Woah, maybe don’t call her a ‘conquest’ of all the titles out there.” Melissa finally speaks, giving her a thankful look only her little sister can understand.
“Well, we’ll see how long this lasts.” Teresa sighs. “Kristen Marie, let’s go.”
With a soft look from her sister and the adrenaline rushing through her veins Melissa breaks as soon as the front door closes.
“Melissa, I’m sorry if I-“ Jacob begins, only to be cut off by a hug.
“Thanks, kid.” Melissa fight back tears as her hands rest on his back in a soft hug.
Stiffening for only a moment, Jacob returns the hug with a small smile on his lips.
“Anytime, Mel Mel.”
Melissa pulls back glaring at him. “Stop callin me that. And, let’s not mention this to anyone okay?”
Smiling, Jacob nods and heads for the doorway. “You got it, Mel Mel.”
That night when you return back to Melissa’s you find yourself back in her bed like earlier that morning. tv volume on low as you run your fingers through her hair you wonder what happened at dinner. As soon as you walked into the house, Melissa was extra affectionate hardly letting you out of her sight for the rest of the evening.
Giggling when you feel soft lips against your neck you smile to yourself. “Maybe I should spend all day at my place more often if cuddly Melissa is who I get when I come back.”
“Hell no,” Melissa huffs against your neck playfully nipping.
“Oh,” you laugh tipping your head back into your pillow. “Careful, Schemmenti. You know I like that a little too much.”
“Mmmh.” She hums kissing the spot she just nipped. “I love you.”
Your stomach flips hearing her words just like it did the first time she said them. “Ti amo Tesoro.” You whisper kissing her head pulling her impossibly closer.
Monday morning comes all too fast for your liking. Years of being a teacher and it still catches you off guard, often times drinking enough caffeine to fuel a horse before eight am. That morning is no different. Sitting at your usual table with Barbara and Melissa, you sip from your mug getting a jump start on grading for the day as the others have lively conversations about their weekend.
“Mel, do you have that skill building program email on your phone still?” You lean over resting your head on her shoulder.
“Here, Amore.” She hands her phone over freely going back to papers.
Sitting up straight you find the email you need, looking at the device curiously when you see a text notification from Kristen Marie.
Im sorry about Ma. Did you tell your girl?
Schooling your features you send the email to yourself and hand the phone back.
“Did something happen to your mom?” You ask worried, not wanting to miss anything in Melissa’s life.
Melissa’s head snaps up, glasses going to the tip of her nose. “No, why ya ask?”
“Kristen Marie texted you,” you shrug. You feel bad for wanting to snoop, but the way the text was worded has you worried. “She’s okay?”
“Yeah, hon. She’s okay.” She brushes it off giving you a soft smile.
“Okay,” you let it go for now, knowing it’ll be better to bring up tonight after work.
Throughout the day the thought nags at you, sitting in the back of your mind like an annoying fly buzzing by your ear. What would Melissa have to tell you? During your prep period, you realize you can’t take it anymore. Going down to the first floor you pass Jacob in the hallway.
“Hey, did something happen yesterday at Melissa’s?” You ask him, only to shake your head and walk away when he looks like a deer caught in the headlights.
Shoes stomping down the hall you find Melissa at her desk, her kids gone for a special.
“Okay, something’s bothering me.” You admit as you close the classroom door.
Melissa sighs setting her phone down. “About the text from Kristen Marie?”
“Yes.” You nod putting your hands in your pockets. “And on the way down here I ran into Jacob. The kid looked terrified. So what happened?” You ask once again, almost annoyed now. “We said when this started we would keep no secrets.”
Melissa stands up, moving to take your hands in hers. Fingers laced together you gently squeeze hoping the tremble you feel is nothing. The redhead sighs meeting your eyes.
“Ma invited a family friend over yesterday, a guy I’ve known since middle school. She thought it was a good idea to play matchmaker.”
Hearing her explanation, you take a breath trying to gather your thoughts as you pull your hands away. “Your mom tried to get you a hookup, and you didn’t think to tell me when I came over last night? That’s why you were so touchy feely?” The realization hits you.
“Amore, I didn’t think it was important. You know how ma is.” She sighs watching you, unable to read you for once.
Running your hand through your hair you look up at the tile ceiling. You’ve been officially together for six months after a year of flirting and skirting around each other. Maybe Melissa was bored now. “I need some space to think.”
“Hon, I didn’t-“ Melissa steps forward.
“Stop. I just heard my girlfriend, who has a history of cheating by the way, was set up with a guy by her mother and she didn’t think to tell me.” You huff trying to keep yourself composed. You were still at work even if you were hurt. “I need some time, Melissa.”
She gives you a nod, mouth agape as if to say something but no words come out. She knows she fucked up. You disappear for the rest of the day, only reappearing in her line of vision when you’re walking down the hall car keys in hand after the kids have gone.
“Hon,” Melissa calls, following you out the doors.
“Melissa, I told you what I needed. Please respect it.” You all but plead with her trying to keep the interaction short and quiet.
“Will you at least text me when you get home? Please?”
“Yeah, I will.” You nod not wanting to argue any further.
Standing on the steps Melissa holds her bags watching you drive off, going the opposite direction to your apartment.
“Girl, what was that all about?” Barbara finally comes out seeing the look on her friend’s face after hanging back.
“She- I did somethin wrong, Barb, and I have to fix it.”
Barbara rests a hand on her friends arm realizing how serious this could be just by how upset she looks.
“That girl loves you. whatever it is, make it right.”
If you wanted space, that’s what Melissa will do. In the early days of your relationship you’d spend a day or two at her place, then go back home. Now she’s spoiled. She’s gotten so used to you being in the house, your coffee mug in the cabinet, toothbrush in her bathroom, and a plethora of hoodies in her closet including one draped over the back of the couch that you deemed ‘The tv watching hoodie.’
Sitting at home that night Melissa flicks through the tv channels aimlessly, only stopping when Jacob sits next to her.
“How bad was it?” He asks cautiously.
The redhead lets out a humorless laugh. “Bad enough.” She shrugs adjusting the sleeve of the hoodie she stole from you months ago.
“Maybe if you admit you thought it was for the best and explain how it went, maybe she’ll understand.”
“I sorta did, kid. Didn’t work.”
Jacob hums letting Melissa have the time she needs in comfortable silence.
“She brought up my past ya know? That hurt, that she thinks I’d ever cheat on her.” She hums.
Jacob has been roommates with the redhead for a while now, but he’s never seen her like this. Small, nervous. So unlike herself.
“You know,” he starts, “when I came out, I was already in a relationship. Having to hide it, caring about what my parents thought, it ate away at me. Having everyone at Abbott, my brother, it made all the hard times worth it.” He gently smiles. “If you want your mom to respect you, maybe it’s time you bring her around.”
Melissa signs tipping her head back. She knows he’s right. “Dammit, Jacob.” She sighs getting up, grabbing her shoes and purse. In the car she takes a breath, trying not to work herself up on the short drive to your apartment. She may or may not blow a few stop signs along the way, but she can’t wait any longer. Before she realizes it Melissa is standing in the hallway of your apartment building waiting.
Opening the door you poke your head out first before opening it all the way. “Melissa what the hell? It’s ten o’clock.”
“I know. But I need to talk to you. Please, hon.”
Reluctantly, you nod your head gesturing for her to come in. “You coulda called me you know.”
“Like you would’ve answered.” Melissa scoffs playfully setting her stuff down. You had definitely settled in for the night, take out on the counter in the kitchen and a blanket on the couch.
You shrug with a smirk. “Maybe on the 4th or 5th try.”
“I uh, I wanted to say I’m sorry. For not telling you about Nathan. He’s an old friend is all, and apparently my mother thought it was a good idea.” She explains herself. “I know keepin it from you wasn’t the right choice now. But I’d never, ever hurt you like that, Amore.” She shakes her head realizing just how small she sounds. “I did some stupid things back in the day, but not now. Never to you. You’re it for me.”
Arms crossed you stand there listening, arms falling to your sides when she finishes. You can see the tears welling in her eyes and how she’s playing with the sleeves of the Eagles hoodie she’s wearing. A tell tale sign of discomfort. Outside of her eyeliner and leather jacket, she’s vulnerable.
“Mel,” you sigh opening your arms for her. She immediately pulls you into a warm embrace, arms looped around your neck and a content sigh leaving her lips. Rubbing her back in slow circles you stay in the bubble of warmth for a moment, speaking quietly. “You know I’ll always be on your side. Please don’t lie to me again. I can’t take it.”
“Never. It did more harm than good. If my ma doesn’t like that im happy and in love, you won’t have to ever see her.” She promises squeezing you tightly. Lifting her head she seals her promise with a kiss.
A week later, you wake up on Sunday to the redhead playing with your hair.
“Go with me, test the waters?” She hums quietly.
Giving her a tired smile you lean over kissing her nose.
“Only if you hold my hand.”

Tumblr media
I.
“You get locked out of your computer again?” You asked with a smile as you entered Melissa’s classroom. She had texted you that she needed help with something, so here you were within a minute. “No, I can't find the worksheets I downloaded and I don’t even know what to search for. I’m so frustrated I wanna rip the computer off the desk and chuck it out the window,” The older teacher responded, getting out of her chair to make room for you and leaning against the desk she threatened to do damage to.
Sitting down, you began combing through her files in her downloads folder. You found them immediately, but didn’t wanna bruise her ego by telling her straight away. You leaned back, and a small but ornate picture frame caught your eye. Inside, it held a photo of you and Melissa, standing outside of a restaurant downtown.
You remembered that day like it was yesterday. It was the first time you had hung out with the redhead outside of work, the two of you arrived together meeting everyone to watch a game.
“C’mon hon, I’ll drive you home.”
“Wait! I need a picture, of us.”
Melissa’s laugh was like music to your ears, a symphony of happiness and warmth. “A picture? For what? Proof that I didn’t kidnap ya?”
“No silly, proof that we hung out and had a good time. You know, for the memories.”
She chuckled but accepted, wrapping her arm around your waist as she pulled you in and leaned in close for the picture.
“Perfect. I’ll send it to you.”
“Whatcha lookin’ at over there?” Melissa’s voice pulled you from the memory. “This picture of us, cute that you have it up here,” You told her, tracing your fingers over the details on the frame. She smiled before responding, “Yeah, I like to look at it throughout the day, it reminds me that I still have good things in the world.”
II.
The gym was full of bustling bodies getting ready to hear the announcement Abbott’s fun-loving principal had prepared for the day. Of course right next to each other were Melissa and Barbara, but Melissa’s purse held the seat to her right. Countless times she denied teachers and staff the chair, despite how full the room was getting. She was running out of excuses at this point, even Barbara had to ask. “Who are you holding that seat for?”
As if on cue, you finally came through the double doors. Janine waved you over to her, somehow she saved and scored seats close enough to the front, but a low voice stopped you from continuing in that direction.
“Hey, kid,” Melissa hollered for you and motioned you towards her. Silently, you stood for a second, torn between the better seat and Melissa. Not to mention if you ignored Janine, you’d have to spend the next week making up for it. Upsetting Melissa, you’d have to spend the next...
Quickly you made up your mind and walked towards the redhead, and she moved her purse just in time for you to sit down. You mouthed an apology to your other friend just in time.
“Finally, what took you so long?” Melissa asked you quietly, as Ava could now be seen on stage.
“Sorry, I was trying to finish up the last batch of test grading for the week.” You answered, honestly. Trying to keep your voices down, Melissa and you scooted closer together, leaning into each other’s spaces. Although, you noticed the older woman had stuck her heeled boot around the leg of your chair and you realized you couldn’t move it if you tried.
Despite Ava starting her announcement, Melissa kept talking to you. “It’s okay, hon. I just had to fight off a couple of vultures to keep this seat for ya.” You blushed at the idea of Melissa shooing people away from the chair you currently occupied.
“You didn’t have to do that, y’know. Save the seat for me and all. I’m sure I would’ve found space somewhere. But thank you.” Melissa huffed at your response and tried (barely) to not roll her eyes. “I know, but I like sitting here. I always sit here.”
You squinted at her for a moment, trying to connect the dots between your statement and hers. What did it matter that she liked sitting here? Nonetheless, you started paying attention to whatever the principal was talking about now, in hopes that it had been enough time for her beginning rambles to have subsided.
As the presentation came to an end, slowly everyone shuffled out of the gym and to their respective rooms, and quietly the three of you waited in your chairs for the masses to leave. While people-watching the room, you picked up on the conversation to your left.
“I should’ve known,” Barbara muttered to her friend. You assumed Melissa gave her a confused look, because Barbara not-so-subtly gestured to you and your seat. Melissa just rolled her eyes once again, but turned her attention to you. Her green eyes made you feel a rush of emotions as they met your own. “Hi,” she said quietly, as if she was worried about scaring you off. “Hi,” you replied. “Ready to go?” She asked, grabbing both of your bags off the floor as the two of you stood up.
The walk back to everyone’s classrooms was quiet, but you didn’t miss the look Barbara gave her friend again as she made her way into her own room. “Here’s your bag, hon. I’ll see you at lunch?” Melissa asked, handing you your belongings as she leaned against the doorframe of your classroom. “Yes you will, and thank you.” You replied, trying to hide the blush with your hair as you took your bag from Melissa and finally found peace inside your own classroom.
III.
You walked with your favorite redhead up and down the aisles of the grocery store, picking up ingredients for dinner tonight. After having a rough day, Melissa offered to make you dinner. You agreed, but only if she’d let you be there for every part, including the store. Usually the Italian liked keeping every part of cooking to herself, but she found herself enjoying sharing it with you. Even the mundane aspects like the grocery store were turned into such a lovely time between the two of you.
“I’ll go pick out the onions for the sauce, last time I left the job to someone else I regretted it. Would you mind picking out the wine hon? I’ll meet ya over there and then we can check out.” Melissa asked before leaving the aisle the two of you were in.
“Sure, see you over there,” You replied, and the two of you split ways momentarily. Taking your time, you slowly went down the first aisle of wines, reading each label carefully. Even though Melissa always trusted you with the wine, you were nervous every time. Down the second aisle, a gentleman approached you.
“Need help finding anything ma’am?” He asked. You took a step back from the wines before replying.
“Oh, no, thank you. My friend will be here in just a moment.” You went back to scanning the bottles, but the employee continued talking.
“I see you’re looking at our Bogle merlot! You know there’s a great winery with a merlot that has a very similar palette.”
“That’s nice, is it close by?” You asked to be nice, but didn’t bother looking at the man.
“It is, I know this area very well. Grew up here my whole life.” He replied. A couple minutes passed like this, him grasping at straws to continue the conversation and you completely disinterested. Finally, you grabbed a bottle and started walking away.
“Y’know if that’s all you’re getting I can check you out over here!” He offered. Before you could deny him yourself, a familiar voice spoke up from behind the two of you.
“She’s with me actually, we were just leaving,” Melissa announced her presence and began walking towards the two of you. You hoped the employee couldn’t read her as well as you could, but based on his wide eyes, your hope fell flat. It was clear the redhead was annoyed, and annoyed at him no less. She refused to break eye contact with him, glaring the entire time. When she caught up to you, she didn’t bother slowing down as she looped her arm with yours and continued to the checkout line.
“Took long enough Mel,” You teased, hoping to calm her down. Her lack of response told you it didn’t work. “I’m excited for dinner tonight, and I hope you liked the wine I picked out.”
“I’m sure I will, and I hope that guy loses his job here so he can stop preying on pretty girls that come by to get wine for their dinner plans,” She spat, but not at you. She was good at never making it at you.
“Oh calm down, babe. He was just doing his job,” You lied. You knew he was being a little too nice to you, but Melissa didn’t need to know those details.
“Well he was doing it too well for my liking.”
“I’ll make sure to never leave your side at the grocery store again, that way if another too good employee comes by you can stop them for me,” You joked. Melissa smiled again, and it was a beautiful sight to see.
“Good, I don’t like getting mean in front of ya.”
“Yes, you do!” You laughed. Melissa loved getting an attitude in front of you. She knew you liked it just as much as she did.
          “Yeah, I guess I do.”
IV.
Melissa knew she had a jealous streak, and when it came to you, a possessive streak as well. Most of the time neither of you minded, it made you feel special and the redhead feel wanted. Occasionally, Melissa had a hard time containing her emotions, especially the feelings she has towards you. She hated when those came to the surface.
So she sat, filled with jealousy and self-pity, as she watched you ignore her existence throughout the entire lunch period. Usually, you sat right next to her, she could talk about her morning and you would listen, occasionally offer advice. She loved getting to hear your version of your morning, since it was usually very dramatic and made her giggle, always.
Not today, though. Today, you were too occupied with the new librarian. Instead of listening to Melissa rambling, you were listening to him. She knew you didn’t like men very much, but it didn’t matter. The fact that you didn’t even greet her and there was only ten minutes left of lunch was enough to ruin her mood. Before the bell rang, Melissa sighed and packed up her things as quickly as she could. She said goodbye to Barbara, but not to you. If you weren’t going to say hello, she wasn’t going to say goodbye. She did, however, give you a dirty look at the last second before the door shut behind her.
You froze, it had been a long, long time since Melissa has given you a look like that one. Usually it was reserved for serious issues or people she didn’t care for too much, so you started going over the day in your head wondering what was going on with her. This morning you hadn’t seen her, and you hadn’t stopped by to chat with her for lunch yet, so-
There it was. With a sigh of relief you ended your conversations and made your way to the feisty redhead’s classroom. Instead of knocking, you slowly opened the door and allowed yourself in.
“Hi lovely, how was your lunch? I didn’t get a chance to talk to you so I wanted to stop by before grabbing the kiddos,” You announced your presence to the other woman, which went almost ignored. It wasn’t until you made it all the way to her desk that she spoke to you.
“Lunch was fine, I noticed you were busy with the fresh new hire so I kept my distance. Seemed like you needed it,” She responded shortly. She knew what she was doing was wrong, but she couldn’t help it. She wanted your attention desperately, even if it was negative.
“Melissa...” You started, waiting for her to meet your gaze before continuing. She looked at you with anger, but you knew her, you knew that look. The only other time it happened was when you ditched your plans with her for an impromptu tinder date that went poorly. (She never let you live that mistake down, by the way). She was hurt, her feelings were hurt and she didn’t want to tell you.
“Why are you yelling at me? Is it because I didn’t talk to you all day?” You asked with a hint of teasing in your voice, enough to let Melissa know you were serious but not upset with her. She nodded, still having trouble admitting exactly what was going on inside the beautiful mind of hers.
“You know just because I’m friends with other people doesn’t mean I love you any less. And if you wanted to talk to me, you could’ve done so.”
Melissa sat there for a moment, digesting your words slowly. She looked away before responding. “I know, I just-It’s hard. I want your attention but I don’t want to ask for it. If you’re not giving it to me then I just think you don’t want to anymore.”
“Mel, no, no.” You stepped closer into her bubble and leaned against her desk. “I’ll stop anything I’m doing for you. Just ask, if I’m not showering you with enough love and affection already.” She smiled at that, thankful to realize you weren’t that mad at her.
“Okay, sorry for snapping at you hon. I won’t do it again,” Melissa looked up at you through her eyelashes and pouted out her bottom lip. You knew it would probably happen again, but you didn’t care. After a few months of nonstop flirting and teasing, you figured out Melissa returned some sort of feelings for you. However, it was just as clear that she was scared of whatever this was. Every time the two of you got close to having that conversation, she backed away. You could practically see the words falling off her lips before she would swallow them again. So you remained patient with her, she was worth waiting for. That much you knew.
“It’s okay my love, just save the glare for the other guy next time, yeah?” You playfully shoved her shoulder to punctuate your sentence, which got you an eye roll from the Italian. “Yeah, yeah, you’re fine.” You gave her one more sincere smile and hopped off the desk to go back to your own classroom.
“Hon?” Melissa’s voice stopped you at the door.
“Yeah?”
“I love you too.”
V.
It had been a few weeks since Melissa’s last “outburst,” if you would even call it that. But the “days since last incident” counter was about to go down to zero.
Melissa sat at the bar, waiting for your drink and hers, as she watched you float between your friends. She let her green eyes roam over your figure, the way your dress hugged your skin so tightly, she wished it was her own hands. The way you so effortlessly swayed your hips to the music, like you didn’t even realize it was happening. The older woman was so mesmerized, she almost missed the bartender setting down the two drinks beside her. As soon as she got sight though, she grabbed them and made her way over to you.
Out of the corner of your eye, there she was, beautiful as ever. It didn’t matter if it was the alcohol or Melissa, but you felt incredible.
“Thank you beautiful, what do I owe ya?” You asked as you grabbed your drink from your friend’s hand.
“How about a dance?” She answered your question with a question. Melissa let you take a couple sips before taking the drink back and dropping them off with your friends. As she turned around, the woman was about as red as her hair when she saw a man coming up behind you getting ready to try and dance.
You don’t know whose hands were on you first, but very quickly you were behind Melissa as she was staring down a much taller man.
“Can we help you?” She yelled more than she asked, keeping an arm over your side as she kept you behind her. You knew what was about to happen, the stranger was going to say something sly, Melissa would say something worse, and you’d calm her down before getting her on the dance floor again. Something in you decided to change that routine though, usually you stayed quiet when she got this way, stayed clear from the path of Schemmenti rage and watched thoroughly entertained.
Instead of staying out of her way this time and waiting for her, you leaned into it. How could you not when Melissa was getting ready to fight someone over you? You placed your hand gently over hers and rested your chin on her shoulder, immediately noticing her eyes flash over to you. Her grip tightened around your thigh in response.
“I was just trying to dance with a pretty girl, didn’t know that was a problem,” The stranger spoke and took a few steps back, throwing his hands up in false surrender.
“It is.” Melissa said, about to take a step forward, unwilling to let him get away. You felt her body shift against you and quickly wrapped your left arm around her, holding her against you.
“Baby, should we step outside for a second?” You asked Melissa, making a point to let her feel your breath linger for a second. She might get onto you for making her so flustered later, but that would be better than getting kicked out for a bar fight.
Without answering, she took your hand in hers and led you to the back exit, ignoring the questioning looks from your friends behind you. The cold wind felt sobering against your hot skin, although your hand was kept warm by Melissa’s. She was gripping it so tightly still, you wondered why she was still so frustrated.
“Mel? Are you okay?” You asked. Letting go of her hand you stood in front of her, gently brushing a few stray hairs behind her ear. Her cheeks were still so red, hands clammy, and you don’t think you’ve ever seen her look at you so wide-eyed before.
“I...” She started. Melissa looked at your lips for a moment before returning to your gaze. “He can’t touch you like that.”
“I don’t even think he got a chance before you were back over there. Besides, why can’t he?” You challenged her. It was risky, hopefully with a reward.
She tightened her grip on your hand and pulled you close so your bodies were flush together. Sure, you knew a couple tricks to make Melissa blush or get flustered, but she was exceptionally good at it. Her fingers against your lower back started moving back and forth, sending chills up your spine. Her other hand let go of yours and found itself getting tangled in your hair.
“Because dolcezza, can he touch you like this? Hm? Would you be this needy for anyone else? You’re mine, you know you are.” The older woman’s words sent heat through your body.
     “Prove it then.”
As quickly as the words were out of your mouth, Melissa’s lips were on yours. She was gentle at first, giving you an opportunity to stop if you want. When your own hands found themselves reaching to touch her more, she knew she got you. Her hand in your hair tugged a bit, and when you moaned in response Melissa took the opportunity to taste you. Feeling her groans against you, because of you, was a new high you would forever be chasing. Her grip on you was tight, she was unrelenting, not wanting to let you out of her sight again.
It was like the past few weeks of Melissa keeping her mouth shut had built up inside of her, she needed you, and she needed you to know that. Feeling herself getting too worked up, she gave you a few more kisses before pulling away. You couldn’t help but whine when she did so, missing her lips already.
“Yknow, I might keep letting people flirt with me if it means you kiss me like that every time,” You softly spoke. Melissa couldn’t help but laugh at that, even though the both of you knew she would not put up with that. Certainly not anymore. You were finally hers.

Bitter
Tumblr media
Summary: While dating Gary, Melissa found out about your new relationship that leaves her...bitter.
Note: I wrote this on a whim after listening to the song. I kept thinking this in my head and needed to write it out. Not Beta'd. I hope you enjoy
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Reader (gender neutral)
Warning: angst, mentions of alcohol towards the end
This is inspired by the song Bitter by FLETCHER, Kito
WC: 1.1k
Melissa sat at her desk, her manicured fingers tapping rhythmically on the wooden desk as she stared down at her phone. She was debating whether or not to send you a text. You both used to text constantly, sharing jokes, memes, little flirty quips, basically anything and everything. But lately, she noticed that once she and Gary started dating the messages had dwindled to almost nothing. They would still message but it wasn’t the same.
A badge pops up on her phone, y/n just posted a new photo. Melissa hesitated but then she opened the app and a small gasp escaped her lips. A photo of you looking out of frame in mid laugh with the caption, ‘best part of my week are lunch dates with you’. Melissa’s eyes darted up and she noticed that it was y/n’s girlfriend that posted it, some collaboration thing. She’s posting on your instagram now? You’re usually private. Whatever that means she can’t remember what Jacob taught her.
She slammed the phone screen down and covered her face then leaned back in her chair. She glanced up, her eyes inadvertently drawn to the clock on the wall. You would be arriving any minute now, probably hand in hand with the new girlfriend, the one Melissa had heard so much about but never wanted to meet. It all started innocently enough. Melissa and you had always shared a flirtatious rapport, a connection that danced on the line between friendship and something more. Yet, both knew that Melissa was with Gary, and you seemed content with the casual dynamic.
However, when you introduced your new girlfriend to everyone one lunch period, everything changed. Melissa hadn't anticipated the tidal wave of emotions that would crash over her upon seeing you together. It was a bitter pill to swallow, witnessing you with someone else, someone who now occupied the space that Melissa had temporarily claimed.
She sighed and slipped her phone back into her pocket, trying to shake off the feeling of disappointment that lingered like a heavy cloud over her thoughts. you had been her confidante, her partner in crime, even though they had always maintained a flirtatious friendship. But now, with you dating someone new, everything felt different. Though the mature part of her knew that she had no right to feel like this. She was dating Gary afterall and for the most part the relationship was great.
As if on cue, the school entrance door swung open, you and your girlfriend walked hand in hand heading to the teacher’s lounge. Melissa saw them walk in the room and she couldn't help but notice the way your gaze lingered on your new girlfriend, the adoration evident in every glance.
She forced herself to focus on the salad she brought for lunch, burying herself in her phone, finding anything to distract herself from the ache in her chest. But no matter how hard she tried, the laughter and banter that flowed easily between you and your girlfriend, every word felt like a knife twisting in her heart.
She stole a glance at you and your new girlfriend, her stomach churning at the sight. You were so happy, seem so in love, and Melissa couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. She had thought she was enough for y/n, and had convinced herself that their friends with benefits arrangement was all they needed and no harm done when she decided to date Gary. She forgot the part that y/n wouldn’t be waiting around until she was single. But now, seeing you with someone else, it was like a slap in the face, a reminder of her own mistake.
She would catch herself looking at her phone waiting for a reply or a text from you, when there was a notification it turned out to be from either her mom or Kristen Marie. She knew she shouldn't care, shouldn't let your new relationship affect her the way it did. But no matter how hard she tried to rationalize her feelings, she couldn't escape the hurt, the sense of betrayal that gnawed at her from the inside out. Jacob walked in and was playing a song on his phone, a song you remember well.
The memories flooded back, overwhelming her senses as a familiar song filled the air. It was their song, the one they used to dance to in your living room, the one that had always made Melissa feel like this could be something more. But now, it felt like a cruel reminder of everything she had lost.
Melissa forced herself to smile through the tears that threatened to spill over, pretending that she was fine when all she wanted to do was run away and never look back. She felt like a spectator in her own life, watching as you and your girlfriend laughed and joked, wondering if she would ever feel like she belonged again.
She glanced up again, her eyes locking with yours across the room. For a moment, it felt like time stood still, like they were the only two people in the world. But then you gave her a soft smile until you looked away, your attention already drifting back to her, leaving Melissa back to her thoughts.
Lunch breaks at work became torturous affairs, filled with forced smiles and polite conversation on the days that your girlfriend would visit for lunch. Melissa couldn't escape the feeling of being on the outside looking in, forever excluded from the intimate bond that you now shared with someone else.
Even social gatherings with their mutual friends became bittersweet occasions. Melissa watched as you and your girlfriend mingled and started to really integrate with the group. She longed for the days when she and you had been the ones sharing secret smiles and stolen glances. Jacob had suggested that everyone should meet up for drinks after a hectic week of testing. Everyone agreed and it was one of the rare moments that everyone was in one place outside of work.
Gary and Gerald were in the midst of a conversation while Barbara was telling Melissa about their upcoming plans for Sunday brunch. Yet her gaze went over to the younger group of teachers, forced to watch as you and your girlfriend danced in the middle of the packed bar with eyes so warm looking at each other in an embrace while Jacob and Janine were there recording the interaction. She saw as you held a glass of whiskey you started raising it for a toast with Gregory when he arrived. And in that moment, Melissa knew that no matter how hard she tried to push her feelings away, no matter how much she pretended to be okay, the bitterness would always linger, a constant reminder of what she had lost. Yeah she’s bitter.

Stiles Stillinski: The Best friend
Stiles stillinski x fem!reader
Summary:
Stiles and stiles are the best friends.
Also just to be clear I know that the true meaning behind this song is, I just heard that one clip and got an idea.
Tumblr media
(Stiles in a backwards cap>>>)
I’m just the best friend in Hollywood movies, who only exist to continue the story.
The pack had made plans to go bowling, and didn’t think to tell stiles and y/n who were sitting at home trying to solve one of their most recent supernatural problems. Y/n sighed “where the hell is Scott?” She asked impatiently. The pair had been waiting on him for about 45 minutes. Stiles shrugged and asked “should I call him again?”. Y/n shook her head “no, we’re gonna go over to his house and see what the hell is up” she said standing up. Stiles didn’t object following close behind her. when they arrived at Scott’s, stiles rang the door bell. Not 10 seconds later the door opened to show an out of breath Melissa. “Stiles, y/n? What are you doing here why aren’t you with the others?” She asked. The pair looked at each other then back at her in confusion “what do you mean Scott was supposed to meet us an hour ago to talk about the recent “drama”” stiles said. Melissa seemed taken aback “guys, the others are at the movies” she said. y/n looked at stiles shocked while he just stared at Melissa in seemingly stunned. “Okay, thanks” y/n said grabbing stiles and dragging him to the Jeep. Tears stung at y/ns eyes and stiles looked like he had just been betrayed. Y/n grabbed his hand making him look at her. She put a smile on as tears ran down her face “I’m sure it was a mistake” she said the words trying to cheer the boy up but not even believing them herself.
The girl gets the guy while I’m standing off screen
Y/n and stiles watched all of their friends fall in and out of love wondering if they’d ever find that kind of connection, They both found comfort in each other since in the same situation. It was especially bad when they both lost their crushes to people that weren’t them. They sat broken, crying together and eventually healed together.
So, ill wait for my cue to be comedic relief
“I don’t know how to help you to help me tell you something that would help you if I don’t know it” stiles said to Scott’s dad who was holding him and y/n hostage at this point. He looked to y/n “you seem to be the more sensible one here, help me out would ya?” Scotts dad asked. Y/n looked at stiles who just shrugged and back at the tall man in front of her “see I would help you but… I don’t know how to help you to help me tell you something that would help you if I don’t know it” she said making the man huff in anger, discreetly high giving stiles who had a proud look on his face.
Can’t be too loud
“SHHHHH” echoed across the room while everyone looked at stiles and y/n who were just goofing around during the game.
Can’t be too busy, if I don’t answer now are they still gonna need me?
Y/n had gotten a call from Allison who had asked if she and stiles could help find the new werewolf that they had discovered to which y/n politely declined for te=he first time ever as stiles had asked her on a date. After that it took a week and a half for either of them to be contacted
———
“Hey stiles” y/n spoke up from her place on his chest. She felt his hum vibrate through his body. “Do you think our friends would care if something were to happen to either of us?” She asked. Stiles stiffened as if caught off guard by the question. “Honestly I’m not sure, I think they’d fight to find or save us but not as hard as they would for each other.” He said sounding sad.
Not too long after that conversation void happened, Scott fought his hardest to get stiles back while y/n had sat with boiling anger towards the boy who had only just started caring for his “best friends” again.

OMG YES! Info dumping! I love it. And I’m so glad my fics are helping you. Feel free as well to message me directly if you ever want. So my other obsession besides Lisa Ann Walter, is Doctor Who and Jodie Whittaker, so of course I chose to have the reader talk about her as the Doctor… I regret nothing 😊. I went a little extra at the end but I’m too gay for Melissa to care. Anyway, I enjoyed writing this so thank you for the prompt and I hope you like it! As always, not edited in the slightest.
For everyone, feel free to keep sending me prompts, and I was thinking about writing a one shot about Cheesy as there’s not enough imo. Let me know if I should or not.
Title based off the song from Shrek 3 and the Italian word stronzo means asshole.
Thank You for Letting Me Be Myself
Warnings: someone is mean to reader, reader struggling with having autism(small part)
Words: 2.3k
Tumblr media
You’re sitting in the break room at the table with Barb and Melissa. You get up to get a coffee and when you do you hear someone starting to talk about Doctor Who and you perk up.
You turn around to see Jacob, Mr. Morton and another teacher talking about it. “You guys watch Doctor Who?” You say and they stop talking and look up at you. Normally you’re quiet and don’t really say much as you’re recharging before you go and have to teach your kiddos again.
“Yes, do you watch it?” Jacob asks you and you nod with a big smile. Melissa looks up at you and sees your smile and she can’t help but smile herself. She’s had a crush on you since about 4 months after you started and it’s almost been 9 months that you’re working here.
“Well come here and share your thoughts about it.” Jacob says and you walk over to them, coffee in hand.
“What exactly is your discussion about?” You ask them.
“About the first female doctor, the 13th doctor.” Mr. Morton says and you keep smiling.
“She’s my favourite doctor! Like she’s so enthusiastic and passionate and she just loves everything about what she does! And she’s so funny too, it’s just a joy to watch Jodie play her!” You start and they look at you confused, wondering why you’ve always been quiet but now you’re talkative.
The truth is, you're autistic and the only one that knows is Melissa and she promised not to tell anyone since it’s your secret not hers. You told her because you felt like you kept missing social cues or taking things too literally, so you wanted someone in your corner to help you and she had no problem doing that for you. She looks at you talking so passionately about your favourite show with a smile and heart eyes before going back to her phone, secretly still listening to you.
“And her Tardis is so amazing, oh and her companion’s compliment her so well, and her outfit looks amazing. Did you know that Jodie helped decide on the outfit to support the LGBTQ community since she’s a huge ally. And also…” and you keep going on for about 5 minutes about how much you love the 13th doctor and her era on Doctor Who. Until the other teacher, you don’t know their name, the one Mr. Morton and Jacob were talking too, says something.
“OMG! Would you please shut up!” He says and you quickly shut your mouth. “I preferred it when you didn’t speak at all.” He says, glaring at you. And you look down at the ground, embarrassed before running out of there.
Melissa looked up when he started speaking and is now getting up and walking over to them. “Hey! Don’t talk to her like that. You should count yourself lucky that I won’t contact one of my guys on you.” She says and looks at Jacob. “Why didn’t you say anything?!?” She says to him “or you?” She says to Mr. Morton.
“Sorry Melissa, it all happened so fast.” Mr. Morton says and Jacob nods in agreement.
“You should be ashamed of yourself!” She says to the teacher that was mean to you.
“Hey, we were just sitting here talking about it until she cuts in and starts talking about everything that we weren’t even discussing. And she wouldn’t stop talking.” The teacher says , only making a deeper hole for himself. Melissa glares at him.
“I don’t care what you think! There’s better ways to do that!” She says to him.
“She shouldn’t have talked so much and knew that it was too much.” He says, still trying to defend himself.
“She’s autistic you stronzo!” She yells at him and then realises that she just told your secret and has wide eyes. All 3 of them look at her speechless, now understanding that you got excited and were info dumping and didn’t mean to talk so much. Melissa turns around and walks out of the break room and goes to find you.
She ends up finding you in your classroom crying on your chair, hugging your legs. She knocks on the door, “hey y/n it’s me, just wanted to come check on you.” She tells you.
You get up and unlock the door then open it. Melissa’s heart breaks a bit when she sees you. Eyes puffy, red and watery, tear stained cheeks and red nose from you blowing your nose.
“Oh hun.” She says and you walk back to your chair hugging your legs again. Melissa walks in and closes and locks the door then walks over to your desk. “Hey, he was an ass, he shouldn’t have said that to you.” Melissa tells you and crouches down and you look at her.
“No, he’s right, I was talking too much. I shouldn’t have gotten involved in their conversation. I just got so excited,” you tell her and you sniffle a bit.
“Hun, it’s understandable, I know how much you love Doctor Who. You have nothing to be ashamed about.” She tells you and grabs your hand. “Btw I might have accidentally told them that you’re autistic. As in I told them and called that teacher a stronzo for you.” She tells you. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to slip out, I just got angry that he was mean to you.” She says, rubbing your hand with her thumb.
“It’s ok, they would have found out eventually. But this is another reason I don’t engage in conversations, cause I might talk too much.” You tell her. Melissa gets up and opens her arms out.
“Come here.” She tells you and motions to hug her. You put your feet down on the ground and then hug her waist since you’re still sitting in your chair. “Why don’t we go back in there, finish lunch. And then after school you can come to my place and I can make you some food and we can watch whatever you want.” She suggests and you look at her surprised.
“Really?” You ask her and she nods. “I would love that.” You tell her and she smiles. She helps you up and then unlocks the door and opens it for you. You both walk out and she sees you’re nervous about going back. She puts an arm wrapped around your back and her other hand on the arm closes to her and rubs it, providing comfort for you.
You get back in and when you enter everyone stops and looks up at you. Melissa can feel you immediately tense up. “What are all youse looking at?” She says and glares at everyone. Everyone immediately looks back down to their phone or food and continues what they were doing. Melissa leads you back to the table where Barb is and Barb gives you a comforting smile.
The teacher that was mean to you gets up and comes over to you. Melissa sees him coming over and glares at him, almost daring him to hurt you again. He has his head hanging a bit, looking embarrassed and stands beside you and you look up at him.
“Hey y/n, I just wanted to apologize to you. I shouldn’t have said what I said to you, I’m sorry.” He tells you and you nod your head at him. You’re too overwhelmed right now and can’t speak. You finish your lunch without saying another word and Melissa keeps glancing at you, worried about you.
You finish up the day quietly. You get the kids to work on their book report so that it’s silent and you don’t have to talk much. At the end of the day, when your last student was picked up you glance over at Melissa down the hall. You taught first grade so your classrooms are close together.
You can’t help but stare at her. She’s bending over and offering one of her students a high five before waving bye to them to go with their parent. You decide to leave now while she’s distracted, you think that maybe it wasn’t the best to get Melissa involved in your situation and shouldn’t have told her you’re autistic. So many people have had to accommodate you or help you and you feel like you should be able to do it yourself now that you’re an adult.
Melissa sees you look at her with a sad expression on your face before leaving. She can’t help but feel like maybe you won’t come over to her place now. When her last student is leaving with their parent a couple minutes later, she practically books it to the parking lot but sees your car is already gone.
She drives home and gets to work on cooking dinner, hoping you’d show. But then she gets a text from you saying that you won’t be able to make it tonight, and she sighs. She researched autism when you told her a few months ago and she knows that when autistic people get overwhelmed, they hide themselves away. She offered for you to come to her place to de-stress with food and tv, so she does the next best thing. After she finished cooking, she packed it into a container, and brought it with her to your place. She went and knocked on your door.
You answered it not too long later with leggings and loose shirt on. “Melissa? What are you doing here?” You ask her.
“Well since you won’t come over to my place, I thought I’d come to you.” She says with a warm smile and you now feel even more guilty for cancelling on her. “I brought over food I made. So either we can eat here or we can go back to my place. Choice is up to you.” She tells you with a shrug. You decide to go to her place and when you get there she gives you your favourite hoodie of hers and you sit on the couch. You’ve been to her place before and you told her that the plastic felt weird to sit on and she removed it the next day so that you’re comfortable when you go there. “Hey, you don’t have to speak but I just want to know that you’re ok.” She says and you nod. She gives you a plate of the food and you see that it’s her spaghetti and meatballs dish. Your favourite food of hers and you smile at her. She joins you on the couch, sitting next to you and then hands you the remote so you can decide what to watch, you decide on Shrek 3.
You watch the movie while eating, with Melissa right next to you, you in her hoodie, and you finally feel like you’re calming down. You put your head on her shoulder after you put your empty plate on the coffee table and she wraps her arm around you. You continue the movie, quoting some of the lines, and when it plays the ending scene with puss and donkey singing thank you, Melissa gets an idea. She guides you up and leads you to the empty space beside her couch and starts dancing with you. When the chorus comes on she sings it to you “I wanna thank you for lettin me be myself…again” She sings and you laugh. When she says the line again, she spins you while singing. The second chorus comes up “come on sing it with me.” She tells you.
The both of you sing it while dancing “I WANNA THANK YOU FOR LETTIN ME BE MYSELF…AGAIN.” You both sing at the top of your lungs. When it ends you’re both laughing and she hugs you.
“Thank you for letting me be myself.” You tell her and she looks at you with a warm smile and places a lock of hair behind your ear before cupping your cheek.
“It’s not a problem hun, it doesn’t matter to me that you’re autistic you know. You just think differently, and that's alright.”
You look in her eyes and you lean forward and kiss her. Melissa kisses you back and moves her hand from your cheek to the back of your head and places her left hand on your waist. You pull back and look at her with a smile.
“You kissed me back.” You say to her and she nods. “Why?”
“Because I like you. I have for a few months now.” She tells you.
“For how long?” You ask her and she thinks about it.
“Around the new year.” And you look at her in shock.
“But that’s after I told you I was autistic.” You tell her, putting the pieces together. “You knew I was autistic and you still like me?” You question her.
“How would you being autistic make me not like you?” She asks you, confused.
“Because I’m different than other people and have struggles because of it.” You tell her like it’s obvious.
“So? Everyone is different in their own way and everyone has their own struggles.” She tells you. “For example, I have trouble letting people in, because of trust issues. And I can have a short temper too.” She says and you look at her with so much love in your eyes. You kiss her again and she doesn’t hesitate to kiss you back.
When the person says “you may kiss the bride” , she doesn’t hesitate to give you a kiss then either. With a huge smile, she brings you closer to her and gives you a kiss, as wife and wife.

Love Thy Neighbor- pt 6
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5.
Summary: Ellie's sick. Cue Melissa to jump in to help.
WC: ~2.7k
Tumblr media
Over the past few months, the way that the redhead has made herself present in your life has only gotten stronger. She’s with you in the morning for breakfast, during the drive to and from school, she shows up when you need help with school work, there when you just need some adult time. She’s there for Ellie when she needs help with homework, wants to cuddle but you’re busy, there when she’s excited or sleepy, has had a nightmare and she’s with you on the couch, shows up when her dance class has a parent night… she’s just there. She always is.
But you still don’t want to ruin what you have going on. Life is easy and nice right now with her… if you two decide to date and it falls apart, she’s gone. Or you’re gone. You suppose that if it were all to go up in flames, this is her apartment complex, Abbott is her school, the coworkers that you’ve become friendly with are hers. The only thing that you would get out of a breakup with the redhead is your daughter. And even then, you’re fairly certain at this point that Ellie would be more devastated about not seeing Melissa than she is about the absence of her father. So you haven’t done anything about it yet.
But that’s about to change… not that you know it.
Ellie’s been sniffling a lot lately, but you’ve just contributed it to the fact that the seasons are changing, you have allergies, her father has allergies… so naturally she should have inherited your seasonal allergies. You don’t realize that she’s picked up what seems to be making its way through Barbara’s classroom.
Your daughter is currently putting up the biggest fight of her life. She does not want to go to school, which is so unusual for her. She’s flat out refusing to eat the breakfast that Melissa made, she’s sticking her nose up at every sweater for her to put over her uniform that you try to show her, and she bursts into tears when you tell her that she can’t bring her stuffy to school with her because it isn’t a stuffy day.
“Elizabeth,” you sigh. You’re slowly starting to lose your patience. “Come on. We have to go to school today.”
“Why?! Other kids are not coming in because they’re sick!”
“Because you aren’t sick, baby,” you tell her as you pinch the bridge of your nose. “Now please. We have to be out the door in ten minutes, and Momma isn’t ready for school yet.” You suppose you’ll have to do your makeup in the car while your neighbor drives in to the school.
“I don’t feel good though,” she whines.
At that, you soften. You place the back of your hand on her forehead, cheeks, and the back of her neck. She’s a little warm, but it’s nothing to be worried over.
“I’m sorry, lovey,” you sigh. “You just have to make it through today, and then when we get home tonight, we can cuddle.”
As you’re leaving the house, you throw a few tylenol in your bag for Ellie if she needs it throughout the day.
The girl clings to Melissa as soon as she’s back in your apartment, and the redhead does everything she can to try to get Ellie to smile- it doesn’t work. She just lays her head on the woman’s shoulder and sighs heavily.
You’re able to get your daughter into the school, and by then her cheeks are a little flushed. But she did fall asleep during the short car ride over, so you think that the red on her right cheek is from where her seatbelt was.
Ellie stays in Melissa’s lap during the morning news, and when it’s time for her to go with Barbara down to the classroom, the water works start again.
Melissa hands your daughter over to her kindergarten teacher with a shrug. You kiss Ellie’s temple gently, telling her to have a good day, before you and the redhead are making your way down to your wing.
“What’s got pipsqueak so upset today?” your colleague asks quietly.
You bite your lip. “She isn’t feeling well I don’t think.”
She frowns. “Poor thing. Shouldn’t she be home? Or with your parents resting?”
“My parents are galavanting around Europe right now,” you huff. “Or she would be.”
“You could’ve taken off today to keep her home.”
You roll your eyes. “We are so short on subs lately, and I don’t need to have Mr. Johnson as my sub if I can help it.”
“Fair point,” Melissa chuckles. “Last time he was my sub, the kids came in the next day telling me all about the fourth dimension.”
It’s only about 9:30 when your classroom phone rings. It’s Barbara, so you tell your kids to work on the next math problem before answering it.
“Ellie still hasn’t calmed down,” the kindergarten teacher tells you quickly. “I’m not quite sure what else to do. I gave her stickers, I gave her hugs, I told her she could hold one of my stuffed animals…”
“I’m so sorry Barb,” you apologize.
“She should be home, Y/N,” the woman tells you sternly.
You breathe out. “I know… but I don’t have sub plans or a sub, and my parents aren’t around to come pick her up.”
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Maybe just send her down to the nurse so she can sleep on the cots?” you suggest. “I’ll call down and tell them the situation.”
The veteran teacher agrees and hangs up. You dial the nurse and beg her to let Ellie stay down there for the day while you teach. She begrudgingly agrees after you promise you’ll make her a key lime pie as payment.
Your prep comes faster than you really expect it to, and you line your kids up to take them down to the music room as Melissa is lining her kids up to take her class to gym.
“I can come to your room once I drop them,” the redhead tells you.
“You can, but I won’t be there,” you sigh as you fall into step with her. “I have to head down to the nurse’s office.”
“Ellie still isn’t feeling well?”
The two of you head into the nurse’s office, and the woman behind her desk doesn’t look very pleased with you. Ellie is laying on one of the cots crying.
“Oh, sweetness.” Your heart breaks at her little sniffles. As you pull her into your arms, you immediately feel how hot she is, but she’s trembling as if she’s standing out in the snow without her winter coat on.
“Momma,” she cries. “I’m so chilly!”
You immediately take your sweater off and drape it around her, pulling it tightly to her body. It seems to help, but she’s still cold despite the sweat forming around her brow.
“Kid’s been crying since she got here,” the nurse tells you. “Fever of 101. She should not be here.”
“I know, I know,” you mutter. “I’m sorry.”
“I’ll make you a meatloaf as payment for having her down here,” Melissa tells the woman as she too shrugs off her blazer and gives it to your daughter.
“Miss Mel,” your daughter reaches for the redhead immediately.
“I’m here, sweetheart,” the second grade teacher says softly, but doesn’t take your daughter out of your arms. Ellie squirms, and while you try to fight the hurt on your face, it doesn’t quite work. “Stay with your momma, hun.”
“But I want you,” your daughter mumbles as a tear falls down her face. You hand her over.
“I should probably get some work done anyway,” you shrug. You start to head out of the nurse’s office, but the redhead follows.
“I thought we were going to work on your lesson plans,” she says softly, Ellie on her hip.
You shrug. “I can always get some other stuff done.”
The two of you work quietly in your room, Ellie clinging to the redhead and falling asleep rather quickly.
Your preps are over far sooner than desired, but such is life. When you look up from your teacher’s manual, Ellie is fast asleep in Melissa’s lap.
“Shit.”
“She’s fine,” the second grade teacher promises. She stands and starts to make her way down towards the gym.
You chase after her. “Mel, she has to go back to-”
“I can teach with her,” the redhead tells you. “It’ll probably keep my kids in line better than they would be if I wasn’t holding a small, sick child anyway.”
“I can’t ask you to do that,” you argue back.
She waves you off. “You didn’t, I’m just doing it. And if it becomes too much, she can lay on my carpet with the bean bag and sleep there.”
“You’re going to get-”
“I’ve been teaching for years now,” she laughs. “My immune system is made of steel at this point. Don’t even worry about me. Just go get your kids and teach. We’ll see you at lunch.”
You watch as she makes her way down to the gym, Elizabeth in her arms and snoring softly. You see her press a delicate kiss to the girl’s sweaty hairline before smiling at her gently. The eyes that she’s looking at your daughter with are full of love and no selfishness in the slightest. If you weren’t sure before, you are now. Melissa is worth all of the risks in the world. You turn on your heel to pick up your kids from the music room.
Come lunch time, the redhead still has your daughter on her hip, and your heart swoons at the sight. The badass, mob-like teacher is just so soft and gentle with your little girl. Ellie is awake now, but she keeps her head resting in the crook of Melissa’s neck. As the two of you walk your kids to the lunchroom, Ellie waves at you sleepily.
“No sleeping again yet,” Melissa tuts quietly. “We have to make sure your belly is full and you drink some water before you nap again.”
“Mhmm,” your girl hums out sleepily.
Ellie spends the entirety of your lunch period wrapped up in your sweater and Melissa’s blazer curled up in your lap. You just barely get her to eat, but when Melissa attempts to get her to eat, she does so easily.
The rest of your friend group spends the period quietly, watching as the redhead handles your daughter with such a maternal warmth that they’ve never quite seen from her before. And when Ellie falls back asleep in your hold from your gentle rocking her, they fall silent at the steely gaze Melissa gives them.
Ellie lets out a small whine for the redhead when you stand to pick your kids back up, and Melissa just takes her back into her arms with a wave of the hand.
“Pipsqueak’s been a good human heater for me,” she chuckles before glancing at your daughter. “Isn’t that right?”
The six year old nods into her shoulder before turning her head and blowing you a tired kiss.
“Only a couple more hours, and then you can curl up at home with your momma, okay hun?” she tries to assure the little girl.
“And you?”
“And me, if you want.”
“Yes, please,” Ellie requests softly.
At the end of the day, you make your way outside to help monitor dismissal alongside your neighbor. Ellie is still in her arms and fast asleep. She’s been asleep on the redhead for quite some time if the rather large wet spot on Melissa’s shoulder is any indication.
“My poor little girl,” you sigh as you brush a few hairs away from your daughter’s face. You kiss her head gently.
“She’s been out for a while,” Melissa tells you quietly. “But let me tell you, my kids have never been more well behaved.”
“You’ve been holding her since lunch?!”
“I tried to set her down on the carpet, and she stayed there for about five minutes before coming back over to me and begging me to hold her because she was cold. I just taught from my desk.”
“You could’ve sent her over to me,” you tell your coworker.
She shrugs. “I didn’t mind having the little one with me.”
Ellie stays asleep throughout dismissal and the drive home. When Melissa pulls into the parking garage at your complex, you grab your things and collect your daughter before turning back to walk in with the redhead. She’s still in the driver’s seat though.
“Go in. I have to run to the grocery store if I’m going to make my Nonna’s chicken noodle soup for the two of you.”
“I can make-”
“Trust me when I tell you this stuff will have El healed in no time flat, and you’re going to want it for when you get sick too,” your neighbor tells you. “I’ll be over once I’m back.”
You head in and settle yourself on the couch. Ellie lays on top of you, fast asleep and shivering. You kiss her forehead before reaching for the remote to turn on the television. There’s no way you’re going to get any work done tonight- you have to step up and be the mother for your daughter you always promised you would be.
The little girl only stirs when there’s a gentle knock on your front door, followed by the redhead stepping into your house and heading for the kitchen.
“Miss Mel?” she asks quietly.
“Yeah, baby,” you whisper back. “She’s making you soup so you can feel better.”
“I love Miss Mel,” she sighs quietly as she cuddles back into your hold.
You smile. “I do too.”
The woman brings three bowls of soup into the living room, along with two mugs of hot tea and some juice for Ellie, before settling on the couch next to you. The soup is amazing- not that you expected anything else.
When dinner is over, you give your daughter a bit of cold medicine, hoping she’ll feel better in the morning. She demands cuddles from both you and Melissa, but she’s quick to fall back asleep once she’s situated between the two of you. That leaves you and the redhead to chat about your days and have a bit of adult time. You know that you want to approach the situation at hand- the obvious feelings that she has for you and the feelings that you have for her.
“Why are you doing all this?” you finally ask.
“Doing what?” she raises a brow.
You gesture broadly. “All of this: helping us adjust to a new life, being here for Ellie, helping me get a job and then mentoring me, cooking us dinner… for heaven’s sake, you’re taking care of my child while she’s sick.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” she shrugs.
At that, you sigh. “Because I kind of expected to you hate me and stop coming over after I told you that us might never happen.”
“I could never hate you. I’d rather have you as a friend in my life than nothing at all,” she says softly as she places a hand over your own. “Besides,” she chuckles. “It’d be pretty awkward seeing each other at work and when we’re running in and out of the apartment if we stopped talking.”
You laugh softly. “Yeah.”
“And I think Ellie and I are something of kindred spirits,” the redhead says as she looks down at your slumbering daughter. “I couldn’t just leave her high and dry.”
You smile. “She’s a special one.”
“She is.”
“So are you,” you look at her with a soft gaze.
She rolls her eyes playfully. “I ain’t nothin’ special, hun.”
“You are,” you whisper as you squeeze her hand in your own. “So special.”
She rolls those striking green eyes again and turns her attention back to the television.
“Hey.” Melissa looks back to you, and you squeeze her hand again. “Special enough for me to throw caution to the wind and do this.” You press your lips to hers softly.

I kept having this silly idea of having Melissa meet 007 and have them bonding over application of machinery while not being a steam worshipper.
And then they kept sending letter to each other, slowly agreeing to a date. While on the date 007 told Melissa about being a transmigrator. Melissa was just, "Oh, just like my brother then."
007, flabbergasted, asked Melissa, "Oh, what's your brother's name? I might know him."
"Ah, he kept changing his identity over time, but one of his alias was Gehrman Sparrow."
"I see, Gehrman Sparrow huh." Cue, loading for a few seconds. "Wait? Gehrman Sparrow?!"
Melissa nodded, cutely, 007 might add. "Yes, well, that was one of his most famous alias."
007 has no choice but nodded and gave even better treatment to Melissa. After hearing Gehrman Sparrow's name, it felt like countless eyes was staring at him.
After the date, 007 went to a bar, drinking his sorrow and fear. His work colleagues was unsure on why their boss was like this. Cue Franca coming in with Jenna and seeing her 'scapegoat' for disasters was drinking heavily, something he never done, she got worried (note, for comedic purpose this is after the Fool's dream arc).
"What's up 007?" She greets the seemingly sorrowful man.
"Hidden Blade," he nodded at Franca, nursing his glass.
"What do you do when you find out your prospective girlfriend's brother was actually canonized in a church's bible?"
Jenna spit out her drink while Franca stared at him, "What???"
"Yeah, I found out my prospective girlfriend's brother was Gehrman Sparrow. She implied this wasn't his real name too."
Franca patted 007's shoulder sympathetically. "You poor, poor bastard."
Jenna just mumbled, "My former boss actually dated Mr. Fool's sister???"
Faraway, in the distance, Fors felt there was a muse she was missing out.

Tumblr media
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Houston skyline with streaks of orange and pink, excitement buzzed through the air like the hum of electricity. Tonight was a big night; tonight, I would step on stage and perform my song "Juno" for the first time in front of my boyfriend, Pezzy, and his eclectic band of friends: Puffer, Grizzy, and ElasticDroid.
Dressed in my baby-pink two-piece set, I took a moment to admire the way the silver lining caught the stage lights, reflecting them like stars twinkling in the night sky. My silver platform boots, which felt more like a fashion statement than footwear, added an extra kick to my look—the cut-out hearts at the top seemed to pulse with my heartbeat, playing a silent rhythm of any nerves I might have felt.
In the dressing room, I paced back and forth, running my fingers through my hair. Each time I glanced at the mirror, my reflection revealed both excitement and trepidation. I had poured my heart into "Juno," a song that told a story of love, life, and resilience—a story I hoped Pezzy would connect with.
Just before I stepped out onto the stage, I received a message from Pezzy: “Can’t wait to see you shine, babe! You’ve got this!” His unwavering support wrapped around me like a comforting blanket, easing my nerves.
As I stepped out on stage, I saw all these beautiful people with very stunning outfits. Then, I look over to the front row to see my boyfriend and his friends. I do a small wink as I'm thinking of a way to make the crowd go wild.
“I get so distracted up here, this is why they should never give me of these. But they give me one every night for some reason.” I say into the mic as I'm looking over the crowd acting as if I'm searching for something. “Um- I’m looking at this crowd right now, and I’m very, uh- impressed by all the outfits and details I see. I’ve seen some miraculous looks tonight, like you guys really show’d up, you don't just, like, slap on a shirt. Like, you really come in a full outfit. That the hair is thought out, the nails are thought out, the makeup is thought out, the - the- like heart cutouts are thought out, the kiss one, SUPER thought. Um, and I think it's such a stunning crowd.” I went on a little tangent trying to get to the point of my bit.
The crowd erupted in laughter and applause as I stammered over my words, their energy sending currents of excitement through me. I felt the warmth of my boyfriend Pezzy’s gaze, his eyes mirroring the light and joy that filled the room. I took a step closer to the edge of the stage, leaning down as if to share a secret with them.
“Honestly, I've seen some looks tonight that could be on the cover of a magazine! Like, where do you guys shop? I need to take some notes!” I teased, scanning their outfits with exaggerated admiration. The crowd cheered, and I could see Puffer dramatically fanning himself as if he were about to faint from the compliment.
The playful energy of the moment crackled in the air as I called over my favorite backup dancers, Melissa and Jessie. Their wide grins mirrored my excitement, and Jessie, ever the mischief-maker, held up a pair of pink fuzzy handcuffs like a trophy. The crowd buzzed with anticipation, leaning in to see what funny escapade we were about to unfold.
“Girls, girls!” I said, my voice filled with cheeky delight as I waved them over. “Do you see these handsome men right up here in the front row?” I pointed dramatically at Pezzy, who was leaning against the barrier, his purple button-up shirt gleaming under the stage lights. His collar popped just right, giving him that effortlessly cool vibe; I couldn't help but smile at how dapper he looked.
“Ohhh, yes, I definitely see him!” Melissa chimed in, putting her hand over her eyes like she was pretending to scout him out from a distance, her laughter infectious. The laughter from Melissa and the crowd surged like waves as I played up my feigned innocence, leaning over the edge of the stage with a cheeky smile. Pezzy—or rather, ‘handsome’—was beaming under the attention, visibly caught off guard by being the center of it all.
“Is today your lucky day, honey?” I teased, batting my eyelashes dramatically. The audience hooted in delight, clearly enjoying Pezzy's shy charm as his friends rallied around him, cheering like proud parents watching their kid play in a talent show.
The camera zoomed in on him, and I could see his cheeks flush a soft pink. The jubilation around him was infectious, an electrifying energy that enveloped the whole venue. “What's your name, handsome?” I asked, tilting my head playfully, pretending to squint as if I was trying to make out the letters on a faraway sign. “Paul? Pezzy?” I feigned confusion, starting with a mock serious tone before breaking into laughter when I got it wrong the first time.
The crowd roared with laughter, and Pezzy, ever the good sport, shook his head as if to warn me. “It’s Pezzy!” he finally said, his voice clear and steady, cutting through the playful chaos. The audience exploded in cheers, his name rolling off their tongues like a well-practiced chant.
“Pezzy, it definitely isn’t your lucky day. Pooy!" I exclaimed, dramatically pouting and putting my hand on my cheek in an exaggerated display of sympathy. The audience roared with laughter at my antics, and I could feel the electricity in the air as the red and blue lights above us flickered on. Just then, the sound of fake police sirens blared throughout the venue, transforming the cheerful chaos into a light-hearted comedy scene.
“It sucks we have to arrest you for being so handsome!” I continued, making sure to lean towards the front row, where some of the fans cheered the loudest. I chuckled as Pezzy squirmed a little, his bashfulness blending seamlessly with the humor. “But it’s kind of like a fun ‘lucky’ experience, right? I mean, going to jail for being too handsome sounds like a wild adventure!”
As I spoke, Pezzy nodded bashfully, a mixture of embarrassment and amusement dancing in his features. He glanced over at his friends, who were grinning widely and egging him on, their encouragement fueling his newfound bravado.
The crowd roared with laughter as I threw my head back dramatically, fanning myself as if the stage lights were an inferno. “Ugh, it’s getting so hot in here, guys! Especially with this one who keeps looking at me!” I gestured toward Pezzy, who was standing there wide-eyed and amused, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
Pretending to faint, I brought my hand to my forehead in an exaggerated gesture. “Oh no! My skirt, my skirt! It just wants to come off!” I declared, my voice dripping with theatrical flair. Just as I said this, I noticed Melissa approaching with a playful smirk. With a swift tug, she pulled the string to untie the long version of my skirt, which fell to the ground in a playful pile. The audience gasped in delight, and I struck a dramatic pose to reveal the short skirt underneath, complete with my stylish platform boots.
As the cheers intensified, I took a step out of the fabric heap and cleared my throat with a wink. “Because I really want to sing this song!” I grinned, twirling on my heels as the music began to swell in the background. “And in order to sing this song, I need to be very flexible!”
The crowd giggled knowingly as I alluded to the popular dance number that was perhaps too perfect for the moment. The stage was set, the lights swirling around us, amplifying the energy and excitement in the air.
“This one is for my handsome boyfriend, Pezzy!” I declared boldly, gesturing toward him and then turning my enthusiasm toward the audience. “So, hello, honey, my handsome man!”
The crowd erupted in applause, everyone caught up in the joy of the spontaneous moment. Pezzy's face flushed a deeper shade of red as he chuckled, clearly surprised yet utterly delighted to be at the center of it all. With each word, I could see him swelling with pride, the embarrassment starting to fade away.
The vibrant energy in the venue was palpable, the applause ringing through the air like a celebratory symphony. Pezzy, bathed in the warm glow of the stage lights, was now a colorful mix of bashfulness and sheer joy, his cheeks nearly as pink as the fuzzy handcuffs I had mischievously tucked into my back pocket.
With a playful look, I strutted over to the edge of the stage, propping my hands on my hips as I twirled the handcuffs in the air. “Hey, you!” I called out, my voice playfully laced with prankster charm. “These are for my handsome boyfriend, Pezzy! Let’s make this a night he’ll never forget!”
The crowd erupted into laughter as I tossed the pink, fuzzy handcuffs to the security guard. He chuckled, his eyes gleaming with mischief as he relayed them over to Pezzy. I watched with bated breath, anticipation bubbling inside me as Pezzy caught sight of the soft cuffs now being placed in his hands.
“Oh, man! Pink handcuffs from her?! What did I do to deserve this?” Pezzy jokes, holding them up for the audience to see. The ripple of laughter and amused whistles filled the room, the playful banter sparking a joyous camaraderie.
I could practically see the wheels turning in his mind as he held them, half-expecting some kind of prank but also reveling in the lightheartedness of the moment. "I guess this means I’m officially arrested for being too charming!" he quipped, flashing a cheeky grin toward me, which sent another wave of applause crashing over us.
“Don’t forget, you’re already in cuffs for your crime of handsomeness, babe!” I teased back, curtsying dramatically as the audience roared in approval. Pezzy held out his arms as if to say, “What can I do?” while pretending to look innocent.
As I made my way back to the main part of the stage, I caught the crowd's energy swirling around me—laughter, applause, and the kind of excitement you could almost touch. I plopped down onto my big, all-white chair, which felt like my personal throne, glistening under the dazzling stage lights. There I sat, striking a playful pose as the music swelled, my cue to bring everything together for a grand finale.
With a dramatic flourish, I beckoned my backup dancers over, who instantly fell into sync with me. They were a colorful blur of sequins and smiles, each one committed to keeping the energy soaring. The infectious rhythm pulsed through my veins, and I couldn't help but beam at Pezzy, who stood at the edge of the stage—his earlier embarrassment fading into admiration as he cheered me on.
As the beat dropped, I started to sing, my voice ringing out clear and confident, wrapping around the audience like a warm embrace. I felt enormous grins radiating from the crowd, souls connecting with the sheer joy of the moment. “Let’s wrap this night up with a bang!” I sang, dancing energetically in my chair, my back up dancers mimicking my moves in perfect synchrony.
With the beat pulsing through my veins, I sat poised and tranquil, a queen waiting for her moment to command the stage. The lights danced around me, casting a golden hue that seemed to blur the edges of reality. I could feel the anticipation in the air, the audience hanging on every note, every motion. The catchy hook filled the venue, and I couldn’t help but lean into the groove.
“Mm, ah-ah, mm
Don’t have to tell your hot ass a thing…”
As I settled into my seat, I exchanged knowing glances with my backup dancers, who were silently counting the beats in their heads with me. The playful lyrics flowed through the air, intoxicating and charged with that delightful energy of the night. While my heart raced with excitement, I took a deep breath, feeling the rhythm weaving its magic around me.
“And oh, yeah, you just get it
Whole package, babe, I like the way you fit!”
With the next line, I rose from my seat, fluidly moving into the choreography we had perfected during countless rehearsals. Like a well-oiled machine, we synchronized seamlessly, an embodiment of pure fun and passion. The music swelled around us, and I felt the electric pull of the crowd’s adoration, propelling us into a series of captivating moves.
I could recall the countless late nights we’d spent in rehearsals, pouring over every detail, laughing as we hit the floor and stumbled before rising with renewed determination. My heart soared as I remembered our inside jokes, the buzz of energy before every performance, and the way we’d felt invincible as we worked together to polish every beat.
“God bless your dad’s genetics, mm, ah,” I sang, aiming my playful gaze into the audience, searching for that familiar face among the sea of excitement. Pezzy stood there, eyes wide and mirroring my joy, the perfect partner in this whirlwind of rhythm. His infectious smile urged me on, giving me strength and a vivid reminder of why I was here, sharing this moment with every one of them.
The air was thick with an intoxicating blend of exhilaration and mischief as I crooned, “You make me wanna make you fall in love!” My voice held a playful tone, teasing the senses and weaving the audience into a vibrant tapestry of sound. “Oh, late at night I'm thinkin' 'bout you, ah,” I sang, letting the words fade into a sultry whisper as I looked out over the crowd, my heart racing with electric energy.
But what followed next was a dash of cheekiness that sent shivers of excitement rippling through the audience. “Wanna try out my fuzzy pink handcuffs?” I offered with a flirtatious sparkle in my eyes, the crowd erupting into roars of laughter and delighted shrieks. The playful banter matched the pulsating rhythm of the music, each beat pulling everyone deeper into the swirling moment.
Then, a familiar sight caught my attention. “Oh, I hear you knockin’, Pezzy, come on up!” I announced, laughter bubbling in my voice, with changing the lyrics.
With every note that spilled from my lips, I could feel the pulsing heartbeat of the crowd entwining with mine, a beautiful symphony of connection and shared energy. “I know you want my touch for life,” I sang, letting the words roll off my tongue like sweet nectar, intoxicating and inviting. “If you love me right, then who knows?” Each lyric felt like a playful challenge, the anticipation hanging in the air like glittering stardust waiting to cascade down.
The excitement built inside me, coursing through my veins as I took a deep breath, letting the notes flow free. “I might let you make me Juno,” I teased, casting a sultry glance towards Pezzy, who was grinning ear to ear, clearly wrapped up in our little world. The crowd let out an enthusiastic cheer, riding the wave of flirtation that combined effortlessly with the rhythm.
“You know, I just might let you lock me down tonight!” I declared the playful mischief in my voice reflecting the spirit of the song. My feet wiggled in my stylish platform boots, each movement emphasizing the fire within me. I was no longer just singing; I was living, embodying every ounce of joy that the music gifted me.
Spinning around on my heel, I felt like a whirlwind, throwing my head back in glee, laughter bubbling out like a sparkling fountain. The choreography flowed seamlessly through me, every twist and turn executed with the grace of a bird in flight, freedom illuminating the stage. I let the music wrap around me, lifting me higher, soaring above the worries of the world.
“One of me is cute, but two, though?” I added, the rhythm pushing me to experiment with my movements. The audience leaned in closer, engaged, their eyes sparkling with shared mischief. “Give it to me, baby,” I sang, beckoning them to join in this playful dance of life.
With my voice soaring, the infectious beat blended with laughter and encouragement from the crowd. “You make me wanna make you fall in love!” I exclaimed, my heartbeat racing in sync with the swaying bodies around me. There was something so special about these moments, transformed into an entire community embracing the joy spurred by music.
I showed my friends, then we high-fived
Sorry if you feel objectified
With renewed energy, I took off toward the center of the runway, where a giant red heart pulsed with vibrant lights, set against the backdrop of the stage. As I stepped closer, the crowd’s applause swelled—a chorus of excitement filling the air. I kept singing, feeling the rush of camaraderie lift me higher, every word a thread woven into our collective celebration.
The atmosphere crackled with electrifying energy as I let the infectious rhythm sweep me off my feet. “Can’t help myself, hormones are high!” I belted out, feeling the surge of excitement radiate from the crowd. With each note that floated through the air, I could feel everyone leaning closer, hungry for more than just a performance—they craved a shared experience.
“Give me more than just some butterflies,” I continued, letting my voice flirt with the lyrics, and that’s when I turned to the audience, eyes twinkling. “C’mon, everyone, I want to hear you sing! Sing with me!” I encouraged, my arms extending wide, inviting them to step into this vibrant world we were creating.
As if complying with an unspoken agreement, the crowd erupted in ecstatic cheers. I could see faces lighting up, phones rising to capture this fleeting moment. I swayed with the beat, letting the rhythm guide my movements, my platform boots tapping emphatically against the stage, resonating with every pulse of the music.
“You make me wanna make you fall in love,” I sang, my voice swirling with flirtation and zest, each note inviting the audience deeper into the lively atmosphere. I was no longer just a performer; I was the spark igniting a bonfire of connection between every soul present.
“Oh, late at night I’m thinkin’ ‘bout you, ah,” I continued, drawing out the last syllable with a sultry drawl, my gaze sweeping the crowd. I watched as they caught the melody, voices rising to meet mine, blending with my own in a mesmerizing harmony that reverberated through the air. It was exhilarating—a euphoric exchange of energy, a moment suspended in time where we were all connected.
“Wanna try out some freaky positions?”
I tossed out cheerfully as I reached the precise spot at the center heart. With the beat guiding me, I spun around, pivoting gracefully until my back faced the audience. I lowered my body onto my knees, the shimmering lights above glinting off the sequins of my outfit, adding an extra layer of dazzle to the moment.
“Have you ever tried this one?” I sang coyly, locking eyes with Pezzy, who stood a few feet away, his jaw slightly dropped, caught off-guard. I couldn’t help but giggle into the microphone, feeling both playful and daring. The crowd responded with roars of laughter and cheers, ready to follow my lead into this cheeky number. My nerves faded as the thrill of the performance pulsed through me like a spark.
With my knees apart, I performed an exaggerated cowgirl wrangling motion—purposely over-the-top and theatrical, aimed at turning a spark of flirtation into a full-blown fire of fun. As I wriggled and swayed, my heart danced in rhythm, and I let the laughter erupt from my lips, knowing that this was both an invitation and a celebration of our quirky fun.
The audience mirrored my energy, some gasping playfully, some laughing alongside me, and Pezzy’s wide-eyed look transformed into one of admiration mixed with sheer glee. His laughter rang out as he leaned forward, utterly enchanted by the spontaneity of the moment
As the electrifying lyrics echoed around the venue, I could feel the energy of the crowd amplifying every word. “I know you want my touch for life!” I belted out, feeling empowered and mischievous, every beat of the music thrumming through my entire being. The buzzing anticipation of what was to come ignited a spark within me, fueling the magic of the night.
The spotlight landed on me as I reclined on the floor—a brief pause that drew every eye towards my silhouette. I winked at the crowd, relishing the thrill of their collective gaze. The stage was set, but I wasn't the only star tonight; we were all part of this unforgettable moment, woven together through rhythm and laughter.
“If you love me right, then who knows?” I sang, my playful smirk lighting up the room. Pezzy’s eyes danced in the audience, full of delight and intrigue; there was an unspoken connection, a promise of spontaneity hanging in the air.
“I might let you make me Juno,” I added teasingly, feeling a wave of excitement rush over me. The clever nod to adventure and playful connections felt like a secret that could ignite the room. As the next line approached, the anticipation built, and I felt the energy shifting, the stage ready to burst with life.
“You know,” I sang with a sultry flair, “I just might let you lock me down tonight!”
At that moment, my platform began to rise, slowly elevating me above the floor, a mechanical marvel that added an extra layer of drama to the unfolding performance. I relished the sensation, the wind tousling my hair as the crowd gasped, eyes wide with surprise. They were riveted, and I could sense their excitement—a shared thrill that surged through the audience like electric currents.
Everything intensified as I grinned down at my friends, backup dancers standing confidently at the edges, ready to support my journey upwards. “One of me is cute, but two, though?” I mouthed playfully before my voice soared back into the chorus.
“Give it to me, baby!” I shouted, letting the exuberance of the moment resonate within me. My body danced, the platform swirling to a standstill, allowing me space to showcase a choreography that was both cheeky and sophisticated.”You make me wanna make you fall in love”
The energy in the air crackled as I issued the call to action. “Alright Houston, I need everybody to get as low to the ground as you can, with me right now,” I said, my voice slightly breathless but laced with excitement, buzzing with the thrill of the moment. The crowd, a sea of eager faces illuminated by swirling lights, shifted in unison like a wave, laughter and shouts bubbling up as they accepted the challenge.
“Come on, let me see you!” I encouraged, looking out over the masses, their energy swelling around me. There was something exhilarating about drawing everyone into this little shared moment, something that transcended the mundane and united us in raw, uninhibited joy. “Get low to the ground, all the way down! I want to look at all you guys!”
The laughter poured forth as everyone playfully hunkered down, some using their hands for balance, others tucking themselves into exaggerated crouches. The sight was a kaleidoscope of movement and exhilaration, a visual representation of our collective spirit.
“I need you guys to sing this at the top of your lungs! Are you ready?” I shouted, arms wide as if embracing the entire crowd. Anticipation hung thick in the air, and I could practically feel their excitement thrumming against the soles of my feet. “Let’s do it!”
As I sank to my knees on the platform, feeling the energy of the crowd radiate around me, I leaned back slightly, allowing the vibrant lights to dance above me. “Adore me, hold me, and explore me,” I sang, my voice dripping with emotion. The words felt like an invitation, cascading into the sea of fans before me, igniting a spark of connection that pulsed through the air.
Then, I paused, letting the music linger, allowing the excitement to build as I watched the crowd. They took over the next two lines without hesitation, their voices soaring to the rafters, a beautiful wave of sound that washed over me. It was electrifying to witness them embrace the moment, filling the space with their enthusiasm and passion.
As I caught my breath, I could see the joy on their faces, reflecting my own exhilaration. Some were reaching out, their arms raised high, while others swayed to the rhythm—each person lost in their interpretation of what this music meant to them. It was a glorious sight, a human connection woven together by the threads of song and celebration.
Mark your territory
Tell me I'm the only, only, only, only one
With the echoes of passionate voices clinging in the air, I felt the music course through me, intensifying every heartbeat and leaving a swirl of connection and intimacy between us all. The lyrics cut straight to the pulse of desire, igniting an exhilarating sense of urgency in the room that no one could ignore.
“Adore me, hold me, and explore me,” I sang, threading the sentiment into the fabric of our shared experience. It was thrilling to deliver these words, electric and raw, sparking a deeper energy amongst the crowd. As I watched them embrace every syllable, intoxicated by the rhythm, it felt like we were all entwined in a powerful journey together, surrendering to the allure of the moment.
“I’m so fuckin' horny!” I declared playfully, feeling the atmosphere shift ever so slightly. The crowd erupted into cheers, laughter, and playful shouts, feeding off my energy as they instinctively recognized the liberation inherent in the music. This wasn’t just a concert—it was a celebration of wanting, of primal instinct, and of being fully alive in a world where we often muted our desires.
“Tell me I’m the only, only, only, only one!” I sang, my voice soaring above the sea of bodies. In that instant, I could feel their heartbeats syncing with mine, a frantic rhythm that encapsulated longing and connection. Everyone was caught in the web of desire spun by the perfect merging of music and emotion, their expressions ranging from joyful rebellion to sensual wonder.
It was intoxicating, this blend of vulnerability and power, shared by all in that space. I could see several people leaning into one another, locked in a gaze that spoke volumes, while others surrendered to the beat, dancing like no one was watching. It was a riot of emotion—freedom mixed with longing, connection tempered by exhilaration.
The energy surged as we unraveled the layers of meaning within the song, weaving our individual stories into this one night. Each person was telling their own narrative—of love, want, and exploration—alongside the rhythm, feeling emboldened to express the depths of their desires.
I gazed at the crowd and, for an instant, I became aware that we had all gathered here, not just for a performance, but for something much more profound; we were here to celebrate the exhilarating act of being truly human, to embrace who we really are beneath the societal norms and expectations.
“Are you with me, Houston?” I urged, my voice rising with urgency and delight, wanting to amplify the connection even more. The crowd responded thunderously, a wave of sound washing over me, drowning out any traces of hesitation.
The chorus built again, and I could feel the anticipation swirling in the air. “Let's release ourselves into this moment!” I shouted, feeling the pulse of raw energy drive us forward. The crowd surged in their response, a brilliant manifesto of souls eager to shed inhibitions and embrace the rhythm.
As the platform descended, the vibrant energy of the crowd seemed to heighten, swirling around us like a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation. I caught the eyes of my manager and the security personnel nearby, and I could see the playful grin on Pezzy’s face as he stood with his friends, eagerly awaiting the moment I’d bring him up to join me.
With a quick nod, I communicated my thoughts—Pezzy was more than just a friend; he was a force of energy and creativity, and I knew having him on stage would elevate the night to dizzying heights. I flashed a subtle thumbs up, a signal that ignited a spark of thrill among those nearby. The crowd, still pulsing with enthusiasm, caught on to the cue, their cheers morphing into a harmonious swell of excitement.
“Houston, are you ready for something special?” I called out, letting my voice cascade over the crowd like a wave. The response was thunderous—people jumped, shouted, and reached for the stage as if collectively caught in a trance of euphoria. It was exhilarating!
With a flourish, I gestured to Pezzy, beckoning him to the stage. He moved with infectious energy, bounding forward as soon as he saw my signal. The moment he stepped onto the platform, the atmosphere shifted once more—the vibe instantly transformed as he connected with the audience, his enthusiasm spilling forth like a cascade of fireworks.
As I fast-walked toward Pezzy, the electric energy swirling around us reached a crescendo. It was as if time slowed down for that brief moment, and everything blurred—the vibrant lights, the jubilant crowd, the pounding beat of the music—everything except him.
When we finally met in the center of the stage, I leaped into his embrace. In a seamless collaboration, he caught me effortlessly, wrapping his strong arms around my waist as he spun me around. Laughter bubbled up between us, the kind that felt genuine and unfiltered, resonating with the joy radiating from the thousands of faces in the audience.
“You make me wanna fall in love!” I sang the last lyric of the song, my voice filled with sincerity, every note a testament to the connection we shared. The crowd erupted in cheers, their applause swelling around us like a tidal wave of support. Looking up into Pezzy's eyes, I felt a magnetic pull that deepened the moment—everything around us faded until it was just the two of us, cocooned in our shared excitement.
His eyes sparkled with a mix of mischief and warmth, and I could see that he was just as caught up in this whirlwind as I was. There was an unspoken bond between us, one that went beyond friendship and danced on the edges of something deeper. As he grinned down at me, I could tell he felt the electricity in the air, a desire for more than just the stage and the performance—it was a connection that spoke volumes without uttering a single word
As I stood there on my tippy toes, the crowd around us faded into the background, almost as if the universe was holding its breath. Pezzy leaned down, his presence enveloping me in warmth and a sense of undeniable magic. For that instant, the world melted away—there was no spotlight, no roaring audience, just him and me existing in our little bubble of connection.
And then, we kissed.
It wasn’t just a meeting of lips; it was an explosion of emotion. The kiss was filled with love and adoration, a tender yet passionate moment that seemed to stretch on forever. I could feel the electricity sparking between us, the warmth radiating from our bodies igniting the air around us. Each heartbeat echoed louder than the bass from the speakers, and every whisper of the crowd faded into nothingness, leaving only the rhythm of our connection.
As the kiss deepened, I could sense the thrill of the audience realizing what was happening. A collective gasp rose from the crowd, and I heard a wave of cheers erupt, filling the space with an indescribable energy. We were no longer two performers—but two souls intertwining on stage, standing proudly in our truth, unafraid to express the bond that tied us together.
The intensity of the moment captured the essence of everything that had led us here—the long hours of rehearsals, the shared glances, the laughter in the dressing rooms, even the whispered secrets between songs. This was a bold declaration, a confession that transcended the performance. The kiss spoke of the feelings we had nurtured quietly, just beneath the surface, and now, here they were, fully visible and celebrated in front of thousands.
When we finally pulled away, our foreheads resting against each other, the crowd erupted into a fervor, chanting our names, a mixture of love and joy reverberating through the air. I could hardly believe the rush of emotions—the exhilaration tinged with vulnerability, the thrill of being unabashedly ourselves in the spotlight where so many watched and cheered us on.
“I didn’t think we’d go public like this!” Pezzy chuckled, his breath mingling with mine, still bathed in the joyous afterglow of the kiss. The playful tone in his voice made my heart flutter, a beacon of comfort amidst the excitement.
“Me neither, but it felt right,” I replied, a grin stretching across my face. At that moment, I understood that there was no turning back. The connection we shared was real, and the love was something worth celebrating.
As the crowd continued to cheer, we turned to them, our excitement palpable, the bond between us now revealed for all to see. “Are you ready for more?” Pezzy called out, his voice booming with enthusiasm. The audience roared their approval, a tidal wave of energy that surged throughout the venue.
We jumped back into the music adding Pezzy into the scenes and more, seamlessly blending our joy and excitement into the rhythm. Each line we sang felt charged with a new meaning—every lyric somehow embodying our newfound dynamic, turning what was just performance into something experiential and heartfelt.

Handle Him
Pairing: Angel Reyes x Reader
Rating: M
Notes: Just some spice-adjacent thoughts for Angel that popped up this afternoon ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Not beta-read.
Warnings: Cursing; fluff; jealous Reader; fluffy kissy slightly possessive Angel; established relationship; no Y/N; the only physical trait mentioned is that Reader is shorter than Angel (it does not specify by how much)
Summary: You’ve always been on the quieter side. You’re not the type to flaunt your relationship in public. Angel knows. He knows that you’re likely to shy from his kisses around others—to squirm if his hands linger a little longer than usual on certain parts of your body. He respects it. He doesn’t push, or plead, or ply.
That’s probably half the reason none of these women know about it—or if they’ve heard, the reason that they likely don’t believe it.

“You seen Angel tonight?”
“Fuck yes. He seems wound tight.”
“Kinda standoffish, too. He barely looked at Melissa when she went over there.”
“He’s barely been lookin’ at anybody lately.”
“Gimme an hour, girl. We’ll handle him.”
The insistence is chased with cackling and teasing purrs. You’ve heard this (or conversations like it) for as long as you’ve been hanging around the Mayans clubhouse. It’s nothing new—Angel is a hot commodity. But where those antics used to make you roll your eyes, they make you curl your nails into your palms now. No, Angel hasn’t been looking at anybody around the clubhouse. Angel’s been looking at you and only you for months now.
You’d been skeptical that he would keep his eyes and his hands to himself at first, but by all accounts, he’s been loyal. It’s only been confirmed by the repeated complaints of the girls around the clubhouse. You could always turn around, throw your truth in their face, but they probably wouldn’t believe it. You’ve always been on the quieter side. You’re not the type to flaunt your relationship in public. Angel knows. But hearing these women talk about him like he’s a prize to be won, like he can be lured into their arms or beds, lights in fire under you the likes of which you’ve never known. You glance over to him just in time to see him draining his beer. You stand, grabbing one of the same from behind the bar and striding over. Your righteous indignation wavers just a little as you pass the gaggle of women planning on handling him. You can feel their gazes following you, but you don’t let that slow you down. Your nerves are lessened as Angel catches your eye—as he gives you a wide smile and passes his cue over to EZ to hold.
“Saw you go dry,” You hold the fresh beer out to him.
“Thanks, baby,” He murmurs, taking hold of the bottle.
“You need anything else?”
“Nah, I’m alright. You good?”
“Mhm,” You nod. Then, summoning all of your courage, you reach up. You curl your shaking hands around his cut, reveling in the crinkle of the leather beneath your palms as you draw him down. You only just catch sight of his eyes widening before you close your own, lips pressing to his. You hear the guys whooping around you, and the thud of Angel setting his beer down before his hands smooth over your hips, giving them a squeeze. You grin as he uses his grasp to draw you just a little closer. You can only imagine those women are getting quite the eyeful. You slip a hand from his collar to smooth over the side of his neck, giving him a squeeze before drawing back, gently breaking your kiss.
Angel gazes down at you with wide, stunned eyes, blinking almost dopily before EZ whacks his arm with the pool cue and a mutter of, “It’s your turn.”
You step out of Angel’s arms and move over to the short cabinet near the table, pushing yourself to sit on it, beside his beer. You don’t say a word as Angel takes the cue, or as he walks around the table to position his shot. You just smile as he lines it up, and catch his eye as you pick his beer up and teasingly tongue the rim. He spits a curse, just narrowly missing his shot. You smile with true bashfulness, muttering an apology as he walks back to you.
“One’a the guys put you up to this, huh?” He asks, palming and spreading your thighs to stand between them. “Trying to get me to fuck up the game?”
“No,” You giggle. “That was an honest mistake.”
Angel grunts, dipping his head and nosing along your jaw. “That’s honest bullshit.” He presses his face into your neck, and you shiver as he draws in a deep breath, then groans.
“Always smell so damn good, baby,” He murmurs, beard and lips brushing against your skin. His begins to hands slip up your thighs, then goes still and tense. “This alright?”
You smile, setting the beer down and curling your arms around his shoulders.
“Yes,” You reassure, casting an eye toward the women. You can’t help the vindicated smile that curls your lips at their gobsmacked, irritated faces. “More than.”
Angel nuzzles into your skin, his hands sliding up your thighs. You squeak, face going hot as he slips one of his hands beneath your ass, giving it a squeeze. You eye the pool table, and the guys' growing irritation.
“It’s your turn again,” You warn.
“Alright.” He draws back, tipping his chin down to look at you. “You gonna keep your hands off’a my beer?”
“If I must.”
Angel grins, giving your ass another cheeky squeeze before drawing away. You lean back against the wall, swinging one leg back and forth as you watch the guys play. You make it a point to keep your eyes on them, and not to stray back toward the others—to the women that mistakenly thought that they could handle him.
--
“What’s gotten into you tonight?”
It’s a fair question. You’re a little surprised he’s taken so long to ask it, and you’re incredibly happy that he’s not facing you when he finally does. Angel’s chosen to sit out the last couple of rounds of pool, instead leaning against the cabinet and chilling with you as you watch the others. You’re cuddled up against his back now, arms looped around his shoulders, hands dangling against his chest. You’ve been bracing for the question, but now that he’s asked it, your embarrassment and nerves are beginning to creep up again.
You press your face into his neck, despite the fact that he can’t see you without twisting or turning.
“It’s gonna sound petty and stupid,” You mumble sullenly.
“From you? There’s no way.”
His insistence warms you. You sigh softly, lifting your chin and resting it on his shoulder again.
“...Those girls were talking about you. About getting to you.”
“That’s why?”
“I know,” You groan, leaning back and slouching against the wall, raising your hands to scrub over your face. “I told you: petty and stupid.”
Angel’s fingers curl around your wrists, giving them a tug and drawing them back from your face. You expect to find him smiling amusedly, but when you get a good look at him, you see a darkness in his eyes that you’re usually only privy to when you’re alone. It turns your insides molten hot. Angel uses his grip on your wrists to draw you closer again, pulling your hands behind his back. You bite your lip as he nudges your nose with his.
“Is this what you want?” He murmurs. “Wanna show all’a them that I’m yours?”
You swallow thickly, eyelids fluttering at the brush of his breath against your lips.
“You wanna show ’em who I belong to?” He eggs on as you squeeze your thighs around his hips.
“Little bit,” You mumble as your face heating.
“Just a little bit?” He repeats with a soft chuckle. But he’s not making fun of you—oh, no. He’s just riling you up more. “Maybe you oughta teach them a lesson. What if they forget, hm?”
You close the distance, kissing him harshly. Angel groans, the buzz of it vibrating against your lips as he lets go of your hands. You suck in a breath as his hands slide around your back, slotting your hips tightly together. You slip your hands up into his hair, weaving the strands through your fingers and giving them a tug. His lips part with the feeling, a heady moan slipping from them. You sweep your tongue into his mouth, swirling it sweetly around his.
Just minutes ago, this would’ve felt like a gamble. Just a couple of hours ago, this would’ve been inconceivable. Now, you can’t think of anything other than staking your claim on him in front of everybody in that damn clubhouse until there is no question of who he belongs with, and to.
Angel’s hand sneaks up under the hem of your shirt, fingers spreading across your back. You tip your head to the side, whimpering softly as Angel’s other hand drops to your thigh, hiking it just a little further around him. The tug shifts you even further toward the edge of the cabinet, and you pull in a stunned breath as Angel curls over you, sucking kisses along the side of your neck. You tip your hips down against his, thrilling at the feeling of him hardening in his jeans. You slip a hand between the two of you, palming him and grinning as he growls low, bucking against your hand.
If you had just a second more, just a touch more boldness, you’d slip your fingers past his waistband—
“Would you two get a room?” Gilly grouses behind Angel.
“Seriously, bro. We don’t need to see this,” EZ pipes up, whacking his brother on the shoulder.
Angel straightens up, an almost glazed look in his eyes as his tongue sweeps across his kiss-plumped lips. He takes a step back, gripping your hand and helping you down from the cabinet. You don’t even bother to hide your giddiness as you let him tug you from the room, in full view of the other club members, their old ladies, and the others. You don’t care where you’re going, and frankly, you don’t care.
Your man has it handled.
