Noah De Losa shares: “I’d become a doctor and that was representative with the cap but I really wanted to represent my Queer journey as well.
I identify as quite gender fluid, and I love makeup. I love femininity, and I really love drag. It’s something that feels very authentic to me. I really love the art form, I love the history of it, and I love the provocative nature of it.”

Join Art Simone for Kick Ons after Drag Race Down Under
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/join-art-simone-for-kick-ons-after-drag-race-down-under/
Join Art Simone for Kick Ons after Drag Race Down Under
With a new season of Drag Race Down Under comes a new season of our favourite recap show Kick Ons. We were lucky enough to join Art Simone and Mum the Drag Queen behind the scenes of the brand new season.
“We are now on our third season of Kick Ons,” Mum told us about the long-running companion series celebrating Down Under drag.
“Kick Ons would have started alongside season one of Down Under. But with Art on the show, competitors couldn’t make recaps.”
The team made the YouTube series Art Therapy during DRDU’s first season instead.
But this wasn’t the first time the production team of Art, Mum and Lazy Susan had worked together.
They made the WOW Presents Plus series Highway to Heel after they met on an AAMI ad campaign.
“The response to season one of Down Under wasn’t what it should have been,” Mum said.
“There wasn’t the love or appreciation of down under drag. We decided with season two to put our spin on the YouTube series The Pit Stop.”
youtube
Art said, “We were doing it our way while also highlighting guests from the local community.
“When we started, we were prepared for negativity or a small viewership, even some hate.
“But when you look at the comments section of the episodes, there’s so much positivity, joy and excitement.”
Mum laughs, “People engage in Drag Race in the way that they’ve been taught, which means critiquing.
“Many people online don’t have the literacy to know what’s a read and what’s just you being a dickhead.”
Art adds, “That is why we put the disclaimer in each episode. We do this because we love drag, and down under drag in particular.”
Kick Ons Lazy Susan is on season four
The trio have been working together for years, but that’s changed with Lazy Susan in the latest season of Drag Race Down Under, which started on Friday.
To keep it a completely drag-made production, Fembot XYZ has stepped on board to edit the episodes.
“We literally are a three-person team with the help of our tradie of the season, Tro,” Mum said.
“When guests walk up the rickety stairs to our beautiful pink shed, they’re often shocked that all the work is done by a small group of people.”
“Lazy is the filmmaker, so this season’s a crash course for me. We’ve been clear this year that she’s not part of the production.”

Bring on Season 4 of Drag Race Down Under
Kick Ons is pure love and dedication for drag, as they film sitting on milk crates for a couple of hours.
“With Art at the helm, we have always had a deep respect for the work that goes into Drag Race,” Mum said.
“The show isn’t just about making fun of everything. Michelle Visage and Art have a great relationship and she even commented on our Kick Ons promo video.
“We’re so excited for her as new host of Down Under this season.”
Art said, “We have a beautiful relationship with [streaming service] Stan, who are really supportive of Kick Ons.
Art will be jet-setting from performing her award-winning comedy Fountain Lakes in Lockdown around Australia to the pink shed each week.
“We want to support DRDU and help it rise because it doesn’t get the juice that it deserves at all,” Art said.
“It’s great Kick Ons exists to remind and explain to people why it should be celebrated. But we are completely independent.
Mum said, “Kick Ons relies on Patreon and sponsorships to keep it rolling, so if anyone’s keen to get an ad in the show we’d love to chat!”
Join Art and her guests every week for Kick Ons, the perfect companion to Drag Race Down Under.
Check it out on Art Simone’s YouTube Channel here.

Fluffy oneshot idea: flight delayed, stuck at the airport with Lando and you guys start playing random games to make the time pass
OOOOOH okay i love this
lando norris x reader
*
flight 374 from melbourne to london delayed due to weather conditions (approx. 2hrs)
great.
“lando, the planes two hours delayed.”
he was attempting to scout out the first class lounge, although you weren’t really sure why. he was hardly listening, and it was then that you noticed max scurrying across from the bookshop to the bench in a warzone type of manner, hoping lando wouldn’t spot him.
of course lando didn’t spot him.
“lando,” you poked his arm, “are you even listening?”
“sorry, what?”
your best friend halted, turning to face you despite still being eager on his toes. you noticed max running to the fountain.
“planes delayed by two hours, so we’re stuck in the airport,” lando’s face scrunched, “oh, and max is behind the big tree next to the fountain.”
you raised your voice loud enough so that max could hear it, and he was unimpressed by your quick reflexes. lando, however, seemed stunned that you’d even clocked where max was in the first place, but all in all it wasn’t that difficult.
“what’re we gonna do for the next two hours?” lando pouted like a child.
“i would say we could go and get a drink, but i don’t think they’d let you two kids have anymore e-numbers.”
lando prodded at your ribcage and you laughed, brushing him off as he tried to tickle you. you wandered around the first class lounge, lando was satisfied with his haul of snacks that he bought “just in case we’re here for three days”, while you were satisfied with your purchase of new books.
“flight 374 from melbourne to london delayed by a further ninety minutes due to weather conditions.”
lando grumbled again, beginning to get bored. max was off with another one of your friends trying to find a birthday present for his mum, and lando began to throw peanuts at your face. the more agitated you got, the more he laughed.
“lando! will you stop?” you couldn’t help but laugh with him, his schoolgirl giggle always getting the better of you.
“im bored!” he whined, and so you put your book down.
“okay,” you turned to face him, “i spy with my little eye, something beginning with W.”
his mouth scrunched, and he repeated the letter as he looked around the airport. “window!”
“mhm, your turn.”
“i spy with my little eye, something beginning with… C.”
“clock.”
“how’d you get it so fast?” he asked, once again startled by your quick reflexes.
“because lando, we’re in an airport and they have about a million clocks,” you sighed, “okay, something beginning with B.”
“book?”
“nope.”
“B.. B… um…. bag?” you nodded your head, “something beginning with P.”
“P? okay, um, plane?” lando shook his head, and you looked down into his lap, “peanuts?”
“no, Y/N… its phone. god, i thought you were supposed to be the smart one!”
you stuck your middle finger up at him. annoyed at yourself but mostly annoyed at him. “okay; new game. where’s your pack of cards?”
“flight 374 from melbourne to london will board at approximately three forty five pm.”
the pair of you cheered, and while lando rummaged for his pack of cards, you let max know about the boarding updates.
“found them!” he handed them over and you split the deck in half after shuffling it, “what are we playing?”
“just put the first card down.”
lando put his first card down, face up, seven of hearts. you put yours down on top of it, six of spades. lando put another card down, three of hearts, and lo and behold, your next card was the three of hearts.
“snap!”
you placed your free hand over the cards and dragged them away to your side. you placed a card down, the queen, while lando put the joker down.
in the end, you beat him 5-1 at snap, and he was being a sore loser.
“i just don’t understand how somebody’s reflexes are that quick.”
“maybe because i’m just better at everything than you? have you ever thought of that?”
lando laughed, and he slung his hand luggage bag over his shoulder. max was waiting at the boarding gate, and you’d never been so excited about going home.
“i’d like to see you be better at me than driving an f1 car.”
“hm, thats not going to be too hard, is it?”

I think radical feminists shouldn’t be afraid to discuss how queer culture will, and already is, exposing young boys as well as girls to graphic sexual content. Of all these videos and photos of drag queens wearing silicone breasts, latex and thongs in the company of children, the sex of those kids is split pretty evenly. The many ‘drag kids’ groomed by mums with Munchausen’s by Proxy to become child influencers are all boys. I remember seeing a really horrific Spanish case a few years back of an eight year old whose parents dressed him in stereotypical prostitute clothing (stockings, thigh high black boots, bralettes, bodice). And as of yesterday, a clip has gone viral of Melbourne Rooftop Bar, full to the brim with adults, 10 rows back, enthusiastically screeching for, and filming, what looks like a 4 year old boy twerking at the front of the stage, with adults right next to him (including drag queens) guiding him, telling him which body parts to accentuate.
I completely get why feminism’s primary focus is on the violence of straight men against women and girls. And it should be. I just don’t think it should be the *exclusive* focus. Gay men, “queer” men, gay trans-identified men and drag artists who specifically coach young boys into emulating their sexualised dances aren’t off the hook. They can be just as fucked up as bogstandard straight men and there are many, many boys and blokes walking around today with experiences of sexual violence at the hands of their fathers, uncles, classmates, ex boyfriends, hookups, and increasingly, incidents in ‘queer spaces’ that, if we heard them, would ring alarm bells of familiarly to us.
When batshit leftists of the ‘progressive’, postmodern, Foucauldian, queer persuasion like Contrapoints, Vaush and Alok Vaid-Menon talk about the myth of childhood innocence, and call it a right wing moral panic, they’re not just talking about the girls. Primarily girls yes, but boys too. When it comes to the varying causes of sexual trauma, the overwhelming majority of these areas (porn, catcalling, coercive rape, hypersexual fashion, etc) disproportionately affect women and girls. I’m willing to bet drag culture will be an exception. And online child grooming into transing will be close to 50/50.

hello nero my beloved soulmate!!!
i have pride stories!!! i went to pride this saturday and it was so much fun i need to tell you all about it!!!
well first of all i really hate that i had to work in the morning because it made me so tired and it was the first weekend of sales so yea, not fun. but anyway, my friend picked me up at 3pm and we got to florence. we had to park pretty far from the meeting point and then take a bus, and it was amazing because we were totally lost looking for that bus and at some point we see a bus full of people with rainbow flags, glitter, signs, flower crowns, rainbow stickers and temporary tattoos and all of that. and we just went in, no questions asked. we just figured we’d follow them out of the bus too 😂 i love our people honestly. we were so colorful
anyway we got to the meeting point and it was deadly hot. i swear there were like 45 degrees. but it was so amazing to be around all of those people dressed in all colors and wearing all sorts of things we’d usually be judged for, it felt so safe. except that there was a religious protestor so we got to give him the finger like the heartstopper cast did :)
also my sister came with me. she’s always so supportive and it meant the world that she came with me. anyway the parade started and there were some amazing floats. there were rainbow families, drag queens, all the lgbtqia+ associations from our territory and we started walking behind this float that had amazing music, so we started dancing and singing and it was so much fun!!! we got to talking with some people, there were some amazing signs that were just perfect and i had to go there and tell them how much i loved them :) it was just so fun, i loved meeting random people and it was just the perfect environment. at night there was also a dj set and a band singing to keep the show going!!
then when we were walking back to the bus stop at night we got the whiplash of not being surrounded by queer people anymore. we got catcalled like fifteen times in the span of three minutes. i kinda wanted to punch everyone because we had such a perfect day and i hated that we had to go back to the real world where people are shit 🥲
but still i got so many amazing memories and now all i want to do is book a flight to london for next year and have you come with me so we can celebrate together and see the heartstopper cast!!!!
also, i got a new tattoo yesterday!! and i actually had red white and royal blue with me to distract me so i almost finished the book again and cried in from of my tattoo artist lol it took me the whole day again and it was so painful but so worth it!!! i got medusa on my leg 😻
also, as to our previous letter i just wanted to say that of course i believed in you!!!! i knew you could do it!! but i can definitely believe you had to close your eyes to open that message 😂 getting grades back is always so stressful!! now manifesting a spot for the exchange 🕯️🕯️🕯️ i really hope you get it!!! it’s an amazing experience, you’d definitely love it!!!
and i’m really glad you found someone who specialises in what you need. it can take a while to find the right therapist but i hope this one works out!!
(i’m also writing down sydney and melbourne for when i’m rich enough to visit 😂 i literally booked a flight for august and my bank account kinda yelled at me to stop spending money i don’t have lol)
anyways i’m really sorry i’ve been away for so long, i had a crazy week between the beginning of seasonal sales, pride and the tattoo appointment. i kinda didn’t have time to do anything 🥲
i’m giving you a hug and some homemade chocolate chip cookies with biscoff cream on top <33
hello cece my beloved soulmate!!!!
oh my god i've been so excited to hear about this!!!
that sucks you had to go to work, boo!!! but at least you were off early enough to still go to pride!!!! and how cool that you got to share the experience of going on the bus with all the queer people!! i bet there was no straight and/or cis people on that bus 😂😂😂 just follow the rainbow!!
hot days are the worst, but pride would have made it so much better. i would not be focused on how sweaty i was or the temperature with the amount of queer joy happening around me! it's so wonderful that in a parade full of people and colour that you were able to feel so incredibly safe, and it would have been such an intimate moment for you! and fuck that religious protestor, i'm so glad you gave him the finger. the heartstopper cast would be so proud of you :')
oh that warms my heart that your sister came!!! that was so nice of her to come with you!! the floats sound amazing, and the singing and dancing!!! i am feeling some of the joy through my screen!! seriously, cece, this sounds like the most incredible time. i want to cry just thinking about you having so much fun with your friend and your sister, celebrating your queerness and talking to new people and singing and dancing like there's no one else around 🥲🥲🥲
the trip home must have been so dull in comparison! and how dare those people catcall you, i hope you gave them the same treatment as that religious protestor because seriously what the fuck.
the only thing that matters now is that you had a safe and wonderful time at pride and you can cherish those memories for the rest of your life! and yes, we must do it!! i will literally stay for an extra month just to go to pride in london with you <3
oh my god yay!!! i bet the medusa tattoo looks so cool! and yes reading rwrb while getting tattooed is properly not your best idea, but i'm already rereading rwrb any chance i get to annotate it fully before the movie so i can't say much 😂
okay, cece, i must let you know, because i said to myself i would let you know as soon as i could. but this morning, i woke up (quite late actually). i checked my watch for my notifications. i see an email waiting for me. i die a little inside realising it is from the exchange team at my university. i run out to grab my phone from where i charge it. i speed past my mum. i unlock my phone. i open my email and click on the newest one. and.... I GOT A SPOT EARLY!!! AT MY FIRST UNIVERSITY TOO!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? i'm still in so much shock and i thank you for your manifesting and belief in me!!! oh my god i have so much to do before then (mostly saving money ngl 😂) but oh my god cece, i'm going to england for exchange!!!!!!
me too!! i just need to find the time to get a referral, so i can go and see them!!
(literally sydney and melbourne are lowkey expensive, but it is totally worth it!! and i would be more than happy to tell you where to go and where to stay! <3)
do not apologise!!! we are all busy! i am literally working the equivalent of a full time job over the next two weeks and i'm also dogsitting over the weekend :') pray for my poor soul.
i'm giving you the biggest hug i hope contains the same warmth as pride and i'm fighting off your customers so you can have a few moments to breathe <3333

top 10 books i read in 2022 (in the order i read them)
the master and margarita by mikhail bulgakov: in the 1930s, the devil comes to moscow; chaos follows. almost 2000 years earlier, pontius pilate sentences the mild preacher jeshua to death. also: kind witches, fireproof manuscripts, the greatest love story ever told;
here by richard mcguire: the corner of a living room from 3,000,500,000 BCE to 22,175 CE, the illusion of time, the joys and sorrows of life, the magic of comic books;
lilith's brood (dawn, adulthood rites, imago) by octavia e. butler: humanity is saved from a nuclear apocalypse by a species of hideous aliens who offer an impossible deal to ensure the continued existence of life on earth. in perfect bulter fashion, tons of discussions about hierarchical structures, gender, language barriers, consent, and the vital need to embrace transhumanism;
the faggots & their friends between revolutions by larry mitchell & ned asta: somewhere in between a fairy tale and a utopian political manifesto, a sacred text from days long gone -- the story of a declining empire ruled by the fascist patriarchy, where gay men, lesbians, feminists, and drag queens live communally, produce art, have sex, and await the next revolution;
earthlings by sayaka murata: three young people become aliens to survive the horrors of modern life. provocative, utterly chaotic, equal parts hilarious and sad;
to the lighthouse by virginia woolf: the epic portrait of a family and of an artist;
nona the ninth by tamsyn muir: god is a man, the divine is most definitely feminine, eating someone is the ultimate way to say 'i love you' -- of bad puns, mismatched families, and the horror of your exes becoming besties;
dolore minimo by giovanna cristina vivinetto: the poetic dialogue between a self-born daughter and her mother-self;
the city and the pillar by gore vidal: a gay man in 1930s-40s america grapples with society's (and his own) prejudices and chases an idealized version of his high school best friend and one-time lover down a path of self-hatred and destruction;
loaded by christos tsiolkas: 24 hours in the life of an angst-ridden gay greek-australian boy as he travels through melbourne in search of drugs, an escape from responsibilities, and something resembling love.
#there's a alternate version of this were i don't limit myself to one book per author and just list off octavia butler's bibliography#but on the other hand there are sooooooo many honorable mentions#daytripper maus the unbearable lightness of being the white book home fire never let me go#the bluest eyes the satanic verses the metamorphosis the other stuff i've read by woolf murata and tsiolkias#soooo much good stuff#books

'Work with the cards you're dealt': Disability and drag with Linh Uendo
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/work-with-the-cards-youre-dealt-disability-and-drag-with-linh-uendo/
'Work with the cards you're dealt': Disability and drag with Linh Uendo
Linh Uendo shares elevating their drag in Naarm, living with a disability and what people don’t think of but should.
A small number of Australians have prune belly syndrome, and Linh Uendo is one of them.
Being born without stomach muscles means issues with breathing, digestion, and the urinary tract and lungs. It comes with a lot of complications and a history of hospital visits.
“I was very vocal about my disability from a young age,” Linh told us.
“It is a big part of who I am and how I operate in the world.
“I didn’t grow up having a five or ten-year plan because I constantly worried about making it to the end of the week. I am grateful for where I am now, but I am always thinking, what if my body fails me?
“When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said I wanted to be a singer.
“But being stuck in the hospital didn’t make that dream easy, so drag was my gateway to performing.
“Anytime there’s an opportunity for me to express the joy of life and just the gratefulness I have for life, I’ll take it.”
Supplied
More than just an extra pair of tights
Seven years on, Linh Uendo continues to delight across the Naarm scene, always finding ways to elevate their artistry.
Being honest about their disability and drag is one of the ways they do that.
“There are extra things I must think about from day to day which make my process different,” Linh said.
That goes to another level with my drag. With four pairs of tights and my shapewear is where my colostomy bag is. I eat very little in case all hell breaks loose.
“In my drag, I like to gravitate towards old Hollywood glamour. Many of those actresses went through a lot, and that’s something I can relate to.”
“They can stand tall and look strong and gorgeous, having persevered so much, and so can I.”

Listen to what people are telling you
Linh told us, “I’d like people to listen to disabled people about their own struggles and unique experiences.
“If someone says they’re in pain or going through something, realise that it is mentally draining.
“Just listen without thinking you have to respond. You don’t have to say words of wisdom. All you have to do is let them feel seen, heard and understood.”
“One thing I’ve learned about life is it’s all about compromise. There’s always a way to achieve your dreams. You have to work with the cards that you’re dealt.”
“And remember that it is important to communicate. You’re not being a diva when being clear and concise with people.”

This is especially egregious in the UK, because drag acts are part of our culture.
Christmas pantomimes (are those common outside the UK? If not, they're comedic plays based on fairytales, like Puss in Boots) have roles specifically for drag acts - panto dames and the lead male character are played by men and women, respectively.
Dame Edna Everidge and Lily Savage were drag personas who hosted primetime family TV shows
Dame Edna Was Australian and worked there, in the UK, and in the US. She hosted her own talkshows, appeared on serious TV like Parkinson and 60 Minutes, in an event celebrating the Queen's Golden Jubilee, and was a major feature in the Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She did insurance adverts. She was in Ally McBeal and the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band film. She had multiple Broadway shows. She was on a commemorative postage stamp and was given the key to the city of Melbourne.
Not even remotely controversial
Lily Savage was less wildly prolific, but equally diverse.
She guest-presented Top of the Pops, appeared on the radio show Woman's Hour, and acted in films and West End plays. She was on children's TV, and hosted breakfast shows. She narrated documentaries, and hosted Saturday night TV shows like Blankety Blank and Lily Live!. She advertised cars, bingo, soft drinks, and hosiery.
She was also not a controversial figure
And that's before you get into the role of drag in the wider canon of British entertainment going back to vaudeville and beyond. Drag shows were a staple act of comedy and charity events. The Monty Python crew dressing as women in their skits and films was utterly unremarkable. Yet somehow, we're supposed to believe that drag is both new and dangerous when it's neither... unless you're a Nazi:
Wherever and whenever it occurs, anti-drag rhetoric is manufactured outrage from people who are desperately hoping that, if they pretend hard enough and loud enough, we'll believe their version of history is the one that's true. It isn't, and we won't let them get away with pretending it is.

Not in brisbane but I live in Canberra! And I’m in Sydney every so often for things.
i have been to canberra a total of once for like an hour when i did a drive from melbourne to brisbane (i was violently car sick and punching my sister on a wheel chair cause i accidentally broke her ankle kinda)
and my memories of sydney were when it was at its gayest when we were legalising gay marriage and i saw a drag queen in full glam walking down the street at like 10am
sydney’s also the city i learnt what love truly was<3333 (it’s where i saw my aunt and uncle get engaged after being together 13 years and basically raising me)
