If anyone is interested in becoming a better Fire Emblem player I would encourage them to check out Mekkkah’s youtube channel (found here.)

Mekkkah is a fairly well-known user on the Fire Emblem subreddit thanks to him coming up with the format they use to make tier lists as well as for generally being very good at the game, but I have never seen anyone talk about him or his videos on Tumblr and with only 3.3k subscribers at the time of this writing I think theres a good chance people dont know about him, so I thought it would be worthwhile to share.

His most famous videos are his Fire Emblem Pitfalls videos where he covers a lot of beginners’ traps and common “mistakes” people make.  I put mistakes in quotes there because of course FE is a single-player game, there’s no right or wrong way to play barring things that give you a Game Over, but they are things people do that they think are helpful but are actually making the game harder for themselves. 

These videos are very well done and informative but I would also recommend his Let’s Play of the FE romhack “Void’s Blitzarre Adventure.” He gives constant commentary on why he is making all the moves he makes, why he picks a certain tile to move a unit to, what stats he is looking at and why, why he has them using a certain weapon over another, things like that, but also when he makes mistakes he talks about why it was a mistake and how he could have done it better.  It’s a Let’s Play technically but it feels more like an informative lesson on how to play FE carefully (aka all the different things you need to remember to pay attention to.) I recommend this particularly series over any of his others mainly because its based on a romhack with no story so you dont need to worry about spoilers for any FE you havent played; anyone can watch it.

He doesnt have the highest quality mic and his commentary is fairly dry (though he isnt completely without a sense of humor) but his videos are extremely informative and useful to any FE player looking to improve.  I’ve been playing Fire Emblem for 15 years and I still feel like his videos help me be a more careful FE player, and if that sounds like something youre interested in I think they would help you too.
