More TFA angst, this time of a very different breed:

With Megatron in custody the autobots are at an impasse deciding what to do with him: execution or life in spark prison, but either way they have to wait for Ultra Magnus to be recovered before they can actually do anything

There's worry of a decepticon suicide mission to Cybertron to get their leader back, and even should they fail yo release him casualties would be heavy. The government doesn't want to run the risk so explore alternate methods to stay their hands

Optimus is selected for a "secret project". He's served drugged energon that dulls the processor and stimulates the body in ways all autobots have forgotten about 🤭 in his inebriated state the science division is free to make him do what they please, and that is essentially Jettwins 2.0: that's right. What they're after is a megop baby, but instead of a weapon to be used against the decepticons, a legitimate heir to Megatron's throne, kindled by the mech himself, that they can hold hostage over their helms to deter them from trying anything

By the time Optimus realizes what's been going on, why "Project Regicide" was top secret and exactly what they were doing, it's too late. A sparkling is already on the way

When the baby is born, it's a little warframe through and through, already larger than most autobot civilians and wrenched away from his carrier far before he's ready. Optimus is invited to witness the birth of his son, and is of course given the right to name him. It hits him like a train, what he did to Megatron when the other mech was bound and gagged and couldn't fight back. He's nauseated at the realization, feels filthy and used and horrified at his own actions.

Hand wavey stuff in the middle, but eventually he can't take it anymore. Everytime he sees the infant warframe in the science division, the baby is crying. Wailing. Screaming, like he's in pain. And not because the scientists are constantly prodding him with needles, though that's certainly part of it. He needs his carrier, and the autobots have no intention of ever granting such a wish. Optimus is sick when he sees the sparkling kicking and flailing on a medberth, restraints forced onto chubby arms and legs, bawling for his mother and reaching desperately for him when he spots his sire loitering in frozen terror nearby. The sparkling howls and thrashes and grabs the air in Optimus's direction, begging for his help. Their sparkbond is shaky at best, but he can catch flickers of just how afraid and hurt the poor little spark is. They're crying so hard they're dry heaving and coughing, sure to make themselves sick. He can't bear to watch, and turns away, feeling helpless

That's the incident that cements his convictions: he can't sit idly by and watch anymore. As the temporary Magnus and the bitty's sire, he has pretty much unrestricted access. It's not hard for him to cut the cameras temporarily and abduct the bitty from his cell. And it is a cell, a cushy one to be sure, but a cell nonetheless: a big, tall room with an extra-extra-extra large berth pad, with all walls reinforced and each door covered with state of the art force fields. The baby is curled up in a miserable ball on his berth pad, and looks up at Optimus with frightened, baleful optics when he approaches. He tries to cower away but he's already wedged himself so far into the corner there's nowhere else for him to go. Defeated, the sparkling keens loudly and burrows his face into the mattress, arms curling over his helm. Optimus's spark aches.

He can barely carry bitty, but he manages. Megatron is like 4 times his size, after all. Even as a newspark, a child that shares his altmode is massive. But Optimus is a soldier, and he's determined to manage. Scoops baby up into an awkward hold and hurries to leave with him, overriding the alarm system that pings questioningly at him about "the subject"'s removal. He hurries to get the baby out of the science division's cell and down, down, down, to the highest security prison in Cybertron, held beneath the elite guards main building of operation. It's there he approaches Megatron in a rush, and bitty goes nuts, squealing and bouncing and crying, practically throwing himself out of Optimus's arms to tumble to the floor and make a clumsy attempt at crawling to the cell's energy door. He chirps hopefully at his carrier, whole body vibrating excitedly. Mama! Mama!!

Optimus is a wreck as he disengages the locks, one at a time. Megatron's cell has 5 different locking mechanisms, just in case. As he's undoing the first one, he says, "Get him out of here, take him somewhere far away! Somewhere safe, please, just k-keep him safe."

As he's undoing the second one, Megatron asks him what he's doing.

"What I should have the moment I realized what they- what I did to you," his voice breaks and he sobs, shoulders trembling. "I- I'm so sorry....!"

Third lock clicks off, and Megatron gives him an unreadable look. "They will kill you for this."

"I know," he hiccups miserably, and the fourth lock is gone. One more to go. "I'm... I'm ok with that. What I did... I- I don't deserve to live after what I did."

The forcefield separating them blinks out of existence and Megatron moves faster than Optimus has ever seen him: darting forward toward his sparkling. The baby gives a squeal of triumph and even with the stasis cuffs, Megatron is able to scoop the little one into his arms. Their baby clings to him like an affectionate leech, nuzzling his chassis and drooling all over him. Optimus holds out a key, shaking in Megatron's shadow. He unlocks his stasis cuffs, and begs him, "Please... take care of him. Don't let them hurt him anymore!"

Megatron doesn't acknowledge his request outside of a single, solemn nod, then turns to raise his fearsome fusion cannon at the ceiling directly above them. With the cuffs no longer preventing transformation or weapons use, it fires with extreme prejudice, and the blast is so powerful at close range Optimus swears he can feel his paint bubble with the heat. Megatron ascends up and out through the new exit he's made, bitty still cradled safely in one arm. Optimus feels sick and bittersweet, watching them go, and can only pray for two things: that they escape to somewhere faraway, and that his surefire execution is swift. He doesn't regret what he's done, and will try to face his looming death proudly, but honestly... he's terrified

At least he'll die knowing he did the right thing

Btw his name is SolarSpark and he started off in my head as a sorta joke kid just so I could make a child of divorce...Never make a fankid as a joke, guys, it always ends up no longer being a joke:,)

Figured I may as well use this post to give some info about the lil dude, so @sealightblue you're in luck especially!

So, here you go! Information about SolarSpark below:)

- His first name was KillSpark, which we admitted was edgy but also super cool. But my friend here helped me realise real quick how that name basically made him sound like a child murderer in mech terms. So from there, we came up with SolarSpark!

- He was made/'born' just sometime before everything went down, back when his parents were still known as Orion Pax and D-16(yes this is us taking segments of Transformers One, I haven't gotten that far into EarthSpark yet to know if they have their own backstory there as well).

- When the war happened, Optimus would eventually decide that for both his safety and so he wouldn't see his father (Megatron) like in the state he was, Optimus thought it would be a safer option to leave SolarSpark within a survival camp away from the war. This would come at the price of them developing a strained relationship as Solar would begin to see an outsides perspective of the damage his fathers conflicts were causing to those who weren't/couldnt fight in the war.

- SolarSpark would begin to make his first major step when the original leader of the camp would disappear/abruptly die, leaving the group to scramble for a new head and SolarSpark, feeling as if he owed the responsibility of shielding as many as he could from his fathers' conflict, would step up to the role fairly young, being in his late teens/young adulthood in cybertronian terms, basically. The camp would eventually becoming sort of a rebellion, one that opposed the conflict between Autobots and Decepticons and would allow those on either faction to seek refuge and aid from. I haven't come up with a name for this rebellion yet!

- Though I haven't figured out how yet exactly, Solar does eventually regain enough of a connection with Optimus - though still heavily strained, he also ends up becoming acquainted with the beloved Scout; Bumblebee!

- To describe their relationship? Well...Basically think Megop 2.0, just minus the tragic following out...Kinda.

- This is about the comic above! But yeah, basically after the portal exploded, SolarSpark would indeed survive - but would come to the belief that his fathers and Bumblebee had passed as well admist the conflict, as if that wasn't bad enough; many of his own rebellion had been killed in the conflict, only a handful remaining, a handful that looked to him for guidance in the moment. Form there, he would rebuild the rebellion from what remained, forming a new hideout for them to hide in - especially when G.H.O.S.T started becoming a problem. Don't worry, he does eventually find BumbleBee and his fathers again who, needless to say, are also surprised about his survival:)

- He has a right hand in command named Starstripe! An oc my buddy here came up with:3

So yeah! That's what I've got for anyone who is curious! Transformers has defs gotten me in a drawing mood with how I been tryna draw these guys, so you may be seeing some drawings of this guy at some point! But don't get ya hopes up-

But yeah! Sorry that this took so long to come out, but I hope y'all love him as much as me friend have come to:)
