Halloweentown was static most of the time but once every year it became the most exciting place on earth. All of the creatures, critters, and monsters would be able to seep out into the moral world where for one night they could cause chaos. Jack enjoyed watching the shenanigans from the comfort of his own home or at least he did until something called him to the very place where he lost his life. Once the now-vampiric Oryan crossed the border into Echo, Jack was able to feel his how immortal presence and knew he must return to the surface for their unfinished business. He has made his grand return to Echo with all the desires that he once had while also finding reminders of a life once lived left behind. Of his past memories, he recalls those with Oryan the most clearly which is why Jack knew exactly what had brought him back to the world of the living.

He is able to go back to Halloweentown through a passage in the woods found on a specific tree, only a certain few knowing the way to get in.

The funeral is the perfect guise. It keeps him close to Halloweentown while also giving him something believable to spend his time doing while he's back in Echo. Not to mention he's quite good at it, having gotten very comfortable with death.

Jack has a pet dog that was his best friend in life as well, having come back to life with his owner when he did.

While many years have passed, as has the body Jack once knew. To make sure he blends in he looks now how he would've if he had never died at all.

What he is most excited about being back is celebrating Christmas, already fascinated with the decor he has seen and feeling some sort of unknown connection to it.

As much as understanding and mastering the ‘mechanics’ behind spirit communication is an essential part of the learning process, so too is the development of greater levels of one's own soul-consciousness (you could also think of this as becoming more spirit-like, or shifting into a greater identity of self as a soul rather than just a personality). This process of transformation of identity or level of consciousness usually has to be preceded by some level of healing within the personality or ego bodies.

Guiding students to enter into their own wounding, in search of meaning, purpose and eventual healing, should probably be as much a part of the long-term syllabus in mediumship development as exercises and experiences with the formless.

Healing

Healing is a big word though, and it can get lost in a sentence quite easily. What exactly is meant by ‘healing’? I have always found the word itself needs to be understood more clearly, and in order to achieve that, we must anatomize it — we must unpack it a little. 

Whether you are a student of mediumship or a soul-journeyer, the unpacking of the term healing is all-important. For me, healing is about extracting the learning that is available to you out of a negative or wounding experience, and then integrating that learning or growth into your life in a meaningful way.

The process of healing really begins when we are able to assign or identify some meaning and purpose behind the challenges, or behind the ache. Or we are able to see what good can come out of it – we realize and step into the power to create our life out of what we are left with, and we make something meaningful out of it.

In order to discover meaning and purpose and eventually enter into the healing, we must touch the wound. We must find it. And we must come to know it honestly — deep as ever.

No Mud, No Lotus

This is the part of personal development that can be scary — because it can hurt. But with the right guidance or mentorship from a soul-based coach, counsellor, or other trusted and soul-conscious individual or professional, you can absolutely enter into the woundedness and shift into healing. It is a beautiful universal truth and promise that following the darkness, we will enter into light. The light, or the new version of ourselves, isn't about restoring who or what we were before. Rather, it is a re-birthing of our new selves.

But we must truly and authentically walk through that darkness, taking with us all there is to learn and know about the experience — no by-passing, no puddle jumping.

Walking through the mud is a good way to think of it…and the mud will eventually lead you to solid ground if you keep going. This truth is also demonstrated through the phrase, "No mud, no lotus".

We all have the choice to walk through the dark and make our way to the light, but conversely, we can also enter into the shadow and choose (consciously or unconsciously) to not walk through to the other side – into the learning, the freedom and the growth. Each of us has free will choice to do as we please. And may we never judge the choices of others, but rather see them (and ourselves) as we are with a heart full of love, compassion and kindness.

 – All woundedness teaches us to stop relying on others to fulfill the needs of our soul and empowers us to self-generate the qualities we want and need to experience. This puts us in a power position in our own life rather than in a victim consciousness. Because of this, we can and may eventually be grateful for the wound

There are times in life when we feel as if we are asking for the impossible. When I was a child this was known as, ‘wishing for the moon’, and I have had countless moments like these throughout my life. As I’ve got older I’ve realised that often in my younger days I had unrealistic wishes and dreams that were destined never to happen, simply because it wouldn’t have been in my best interests if they had.

I used to pray that my sister would get better from a terminal illness, my whole family did. My father died when I was in my teens and many times I wished my life hadn’t been so changed by that, it brought me responsibility, it brought me worry, it brought my childhood to an end, my carefree days were gone.

Nowadays I recognise that I wouldn’t be the person I am if I hadn’t had those experiences, my life long searching for answers has brought me to the spiritual healing world and mediumship with a strong desire to reach out to others and offer them all I know, in the hope that it will help someone. I now know that the life I have had and the experiences that I had have developed this interest. But I had to learn to have realistic expectations about this too. I know that very often things I say and write fall on deaf ears, for some appreciate and understand what I give and others don’t.

Our life experiences seem to determine exactly how we see situations around us, they sometimes determine how we view others. Our opinions, thoughts and yes wishes can get in the way of the natural progression in life that we must experience.

I believe that each of us has a life purpose, I believe that nothing that happens to us is by chance. We meet the people we do because they have something to teach us, whether through their words or actions or through their personality. How we use that learning is up to us, we can use it to grow from, we can use it to learn forgiveness, we can use it to fulfill our life purpose or we can choose to carry on wishing for the moon to arrive and end up feeling bitter because it didn’t.

These days I’ve learnt to go with the flow more. If I have an unpleasant encounter, feel hurt or misunderstood, I know I have a lesson to learn that will help me to accept others in a more understanding way. I learnt that with every lesson learned that it brought me a new opportunity or two that I had previously overlooked. I know that each lesson I learned made me stronger, a bit wiser and richer for the experience.

Our lives are meant to hold both positive and negative experiences and it’s how you use those experiences that will stop you wishing for the moon and be filled with gratitude for everything you have experienced. Your finances may not be good, your family may not get together, your job may not be what you ultimately want. You may be in the depths of despair or on top of the world but wishing for the moon won’t get you very far. Some things are an inevitable fact, a fact that no matter what you cannot change, however, you can use the experience to help someone else.

We are all unique individuals and we are all at different levels of learning, understanding and knowledge. Each of us can reach out and help someone today. We can use our experiences in positive ways to enhance our lives. If we all did this, what a wonderful world we would live in!

Don’t wish for the moon, go with the flow, allow events to unfold around you, relax, join in with creation, allow yourself to evolve and grow. Be who you are always, shine your light for everyone to see. Know that the moon is right there in your back garden waiting for you to recognise it, waiting for you to appreciate that your life purpose is actually always a work in progress and that finally you are getting somewhere.

Background:

Valeria and her older sister, Selena, had always been close to their grandmother. The two sisters would sit on her lap or in front of her, listening to the stories she had to tell about the world so very similar to our own. Their grandmother told stories of souls traveling across the sky, lights touching the earth, and of a magic that connected them all. Their mother didn’t approve of her own mother telling her children such stories, but the young girls wanted to be just like their grandmother when they got older.

As the two girls grew up, their mother eventually forbid them from listening to their grandmother. Still, they would sneak out of their rooms in the middle of the night and learn from their grandmother. They took over the family business, running an antiques store. After school, they helped their grandmother at the store and started to practice magic and attempt to connect with spirits. When Valeria turned eighteen, her sister and grandmother along with several other employees were murdered during a robbery at their family shop. Valeria was severely injured from the shootout, but survived.

It was in that moment that Valeria understood her powers as a medium. Her connection to her sister and grandmother allowed her to stay in contact with them as well as her lost father. Her mother finally revealed the truth about their family. Their family business wasn’t just about collecting antiques, but about protecting and preserving artifacts, some dealing with the supernatural and occult. They stole from hunters and thieves and returned the artifacts to whomever they belonged to. Valeria’s father died during a job. The men who shot up their store were looking for artifacts that were stolen from them. Valeria’s mother tried to prevent her daughters from the same fate as their father and push them to live their own lives.

Her mother thought this would deter Val from following the same path as the rest of their family, but it only encouraged her. Val went to a college close to her home so she could still run their store. After she graduated, she started to take a more active role by tracking down artifacts and either buying or stealing them. She would take them back to her shop or return them to their rightful owners, just as her mother and father and grandmother did before her. After a few years, she was able to get their store back to its former glory and had several trustworthy employees take care of things. Valeria made the decision to move to the United States to open another branch of her family’s shop. The first place she thought of was Port Ashbourne after finding a old post card her father sent her and her sister while on a business trip.

Additional Information:

She used to be boisterous and hyper all the time, but has mellowed out since all the deaths in her family. She’s somewhat pessimistic and morbid, having lost faith in most of humanity. However, she can still be just like her former self when she gets to know people and get closer to them. She despises how greedy people can be and dislikes people who are not loyal. Valeria believes in loyalty to a person more than she believes in loyalty to a cause. She continued the family business because of her love and devotion to her sister and grandmother. Valeria doesn’t always follow what is strictly right and wrong. She believes in the gray areas and usually follows her own standards to do what she thinks is right or what she thinks her grandmother would have wanted.

Skills:

Valeria is ambidextrous, but she prefers to write with her left hand. It helped her when she started practicing Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so she could defend herself while on a job.

Valeria has trained herself in picking locks, picking pockets, and some hacking. She is not the best hacker, but has enough knowledge to get through basic firewalls. She has become a better liar over the years, which often times gets her out of trouble.

She is a skilled pianist thanks to lessons her parents made her go to everyday. When her father died, she wanted to quit, but her mother forced her to continue. Her mother wanted her to become a concert pianist. She hardly plays these days, but every now and then she’ll play a tune.

Pop! The guns went off, one after another. Bullets flew all around. The glass encasing all the antiques shattered. The glass rained down, sparkling in the light. Any other day, it could have been beautiful. But the glass today was stained with dark blood. The gore seemed to coat everything in the store. Val closed her eyes as a bullet struck her. She fell backwards, struggling to breathe through the shock and pain of hot metal ripping through her insides. Her eyes fluttered shut as the men searched the store. She could hear their heavy footsteps running away when sirens echoed from down the street.

When Valeria opened her eyes again, she was in her hotel room. She was sweaty and shaking when she ripped the covers off. The pillows were strewn everywhere. It was a bad night again. She couldn’t shake the memory of what happened, even nearly ten years later. She forced herself to get to her feet. She went into the bathroom to wash her face and get a sip of water. Val pushed her hair back and looked into the mirror as she took in several deep breaths. She glanced back at the alarm clock on the bedside table. It was five am and she knew she wasn’t going back to sleep anytime soon. She braided her hair back and went to the desk in the room.

Val tapped the pen on the wooden table as she perched her feet on the surface. She reached over to pick up her phone and dialed a number. “Mama…oh, no, I’m fine,” she said quietly. She put a hand to her head. “I wanted to call and see how you were doing. Is the shop doing well?” Hearing her mother’s voice was calming and comforting. It was her last source of comfort. “I was up early for a run and thought I’d call since we haven’t spoken in a while,” she told her mother. Anytime she called her mother, her mother would get worried about her. “I’m glad things are going well. I’m just in the States for a job. I’ll be careful, I promise,” she said.
