The Medieval Scapini Tarot Deck Medieval Scapini Tarot Deck by Scapini, Luigi --New Cards-- Intricate and elegant of design, the Medieval Scapini Tarot seeks to capture the artistic wonder of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Cut the deck and lay a spread and discover the hidden meanings found in the symbolism, style, and settings of the Major and Minor Arcana, all beautifully rendered by Luigi Scapini to bring your divination to life. ""While this is a contemporary deck, one would think it had been delivered in a time machine from the renaissance!"" Italian artist Luigi Scapini’s lavish paintings recreate 15th century Italy in this gold-accented tarot deck. The Major Arcana and court cards have gold backgrounds in the manner of fifteenth-century European decks. Both the Major and Minor Arcana include full scenes. In the Minors, symmetrical arrangements of the suit symbols provide composition around which the scenes are arranged. The depth of Scapini's art history expertise is evident in his lush settings and period costumes. Interesting details, and sometimes-humorous references, are cleverly imbedded in the artwork, with many of the cards depicting historical figures, for example, Rasputin as the Knight of Cups. Readers will easily relate to the universal situations revealed in the cards, for pleasurable and insightful readings. The trumps all appear over an elaborate golden background and have a luxurious feel. When splayed out across the table in readings they stand out and make quite an impression. While quite detailed, the trumps are also more straightforward in appearance and require less effort to quickly seize their meaning. The pip cards, on the other hand, are a gold mine of symbols and interpretive sources. Scapini has a way of creating a wealth of imagery in a card that allows your gaze to be seized by one thing, only to then pull the eye from a large image to a smaller one buried within it, complete in itself. For example, you may notice the cup held in someone's hand on the card, then suddenly what once was only fine detail decorating the cup you now notice is a tiny, yet communicative image of a person crouched down and shedding tears. Each time I look at a card I find I've just seen another new detail. U.S. Games Systems, Inc. The 78 cards of the Medieval Scapini Tarot recreate the Middle Ages of Europe with symbolism, costume and settings. Tarot Decks I Own (as of June 2024)
I got most of these (after the RWS) when I last quit smoking a couple years ago (think I made it five years) as a deal with myself - I could spend my cigarette budget on indie tarot decks. I started up again but it was a good incentive at the time.
I have also traded and given decks away so there are more that I’ve had and lost, but this is my current collection of 27 tarot decks (I’ll make a separate post for oracle and misc decks). I also tried to get these in a way that corresponded to the majors order to help limit my spending but it got pretty neurotic with swapping out deck positions and stuff so I’ve stopped worrying about that as much. It kinda helps me remember my collection though.
I put in parentheses the year I got them in, more or less. I added pictures and I'll update with links to other posts if I ever do deck reviews.

Tarot Reading in Bel Air ~Kuuhaku no Shunkan no Naka de~ de l'image
As a cartomancy person, I was a little itchy as well as curious about the rest of the reading in the movie, beyond the one focused-upon card; perhaps more so because, well. . . It's not exactly easy to guess at while watching, thanks to the picture quality.
I only dug into it more myself when I got tempted to write a fic - because it's always Death that's the dramatic warning card in media, always, and I get so tired, and I wanted to poke fun at that by having someone in a fic interpret the reading correctly. >.>
This is probably of interest to few other people, but I figured I'd share!
So, here's the reading from the movie:
Tumblr media
(The card not yet turned over there is, of course, Death.)
Tumblr media
All of them but Death are rather unclear, obviously, but the deck is the Medieval Scapini (thanks to @koilungfish who turned it up for me!), and with that my guessing from the blurry film upgraded to being able to actually identify them! (I had 4/5 correct initially; kind of proud of that. XD)
They are:
1: The Empress (inverted) 2: La Papesse (High Priestess) (inverted) 3: The Four of Pentacles (inverted) 4: Force (Strength) (inverted) 5: The Queen of Cups (inverted) 6: Death
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five out of six cards being inverted (upside-down) is certainly . . . something; can also mean things in general are blocked or similar.
Now I can't necessarily interpret the reading properly - I have no idea what the layout is supposed to be (this may surprise you, but dotting blood on a reading mat is not actually part of any spread I know XP), what each position is meant to represent and how they interact, but I can go over each card's meanings, and that's what I've put together.
1: The Empress (inverted)
dependence/lack of self-reliance, smothering others, someone else draining too much of your energy, infertility, creative block or exhaustion, financial issues, domestic strife
2: La Papesse (The High Priestess) (inverted)
losing your inner voice or your connection to your true self, uncertainty, secrets, repressed feelings, withheld information, feeling uncentred/ungrounded, you may need help (or to focus yourself) on your own thoughts/feelings/intuition
3: Four of Coins/Pentacles (inverted)
you've been too materialistic, greed, overspending, stinginess, spendthrift behaviour, you may be stingy with emotions as well as material possessions, finding it difficult to trust, possessiveness, all driven by fear of losing what you've worked hard for, and thus not thought through clearly
4: Force (Strength) (inverted)
weakness, self-doubt, insecurity, jealousy, being out of balance, failing to accept all sides of yourself, mood swings and unpredictable shifts in thought, fear to allow vulnerabilities leading to deeper weaknesses, may display as misplaced aggression and lashing out
5: Queen of Cups (inverted)
insecurity, dependence, martyrdom (throwing oneself into), self-care, your emotions may be getting the better of you (you need to control them, not the other way around), you need to focus on caring for yourself, spiritually and physically, before expending so much in caring for others, don't sacrifice yourself in the name of care
6: Death
change (often of the that bridge burned behind me type of irrevocable), transformation, end of a cycle, new beginnings, cycles, change is incoming, a new phase in your life, you may need to let go of things (including uncertainty) to move forwards/start anew
I note a lot of insecurity, dependence/clinginess, and not focusing on the self, as well as change - both needed and coming (ready or not). . .
Who knows, perhaps I'll do more cartomancy meta breakdowns like this, when next I see one of those media with a tarot reading that makes me sigh or roll my eyes!
(This post is also on Dreamwidth here.)

Hey could I get a reading with the slick new deck please?
You certainly can, thank you for asking!
I'll give you a three-card adaptation of my original reading, the Pullulate reading which is seasonal for early spring! The first card represents earth, or something that is nurturing for the next step in your life; the second card represents a seed, or something for you to begin right now that will grow out of the first card; and the third card represents a sprout, or the first indication that your new endeavor is successful!
With the sideways card read left-to-right, you pulled Three of Swords reversed for earth, The Sun for seed, and Two of Cups reversed for sprout. (And then a pic of them all upright and not covering each other up, so you can see the beautiful illustrations.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My interpretation of these cards in these specific places is that you likely have a semi-recently ended bad relationship and all the hurt and pain and suffering from that past experience is now functioning - or has the potential to be - sort of like compost for your growth as a person moving forward. You're in a great position now to give great advice and provide a welcoming, non-judgemental and positive environment of encouragement and the like to others who are in a similar kind of relationship situation from what you've just recovered from. And nurturing your personal growth through spreading positivity from this rotten experience is going to really have a positive effect on your internal sense of self-worth and self-love, sort of like learning that positivity through teaching it!
Hope that's accurate and helpful for you, or at least fun lol. In case you missed it, this deck is the Medieval Scapini tarot deck. If you wanna leave a tip you can just leave it on this post, I believe, but no pressure or expectation of that of course! Thanks again for asking :)

Well, I was going to do a nice, light reading for the coming year as a warmup for paid readings. Doesn't seem so light. Center card, Ten of Wands - the year overall: It's going to be long, hard road. But there is an end. There is a destination. There's plenty to make sure we get there safely, but we need to be careful. There are traps and obstacles waiting. Top card, The Popess - the first season: There is safety, power, and POTENTIAL here. This presents a clear view of what lies ahead and the ability to recognize important information that will shape the future. Right card, The Emperor - the second season: Not only power, but the image of control. But only the image. There is a need to protect your and yours, especially from what is working in the background. There is also a balance to be kept to prevent a downfall. Lower card, The Devil - the third season: Temptation and consequences abound. Remember not to pull too hard either direction, else you find yourself in desperate trouble. Left card, Force - the final season: Self confidence, poise, and the need to face challenges head on show here. Be wary, but also willing to do what is necessary to ensure the safety of the majority. Plus it's an opportunity to look good in front of an audience.

I haven’t done a tarot reading in 12 days. I’m gonna do one tomorrow maybe. It’ll be with my Medieval Scapini which I hear is a deck that uses Etteilla meanings. I found a site that has a list of Etteilla meanings so I think I should be good. 👍🏾
My partner left yesterday. We had a lot of fun swimming, eating, playing games like chess, uno, retro mario party on nintendo switch (I actually won!! Ahhh!), and “who am i” or 20 questions. And watching movies and shows like try guys and just talking. And other things. I already miss him T_T
Yesterday I slept the whole day. I don’t know if I was catching up or what. It’s the longest I’ve slept in a long time. I slept most of today up till working too.
I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning. We’re gonna do fasting labs and I’m gonna ask about my GI issues.
Also found out recently that I love caesar salads. 🥗 I’d never had it before but I got some at a chinese-american buffet and it was delicious. Yesterday I ordered one from applebees of all places and it was a good caesar “side” salad (also pretty deece garlic mashed potatoes and garlic loaded mashed potatoes). I ordered two more today and ate one for blunchfast and I’m gonna eat the other one tomorrow. I hope the croutons don’t get too soft.
Ordering caesar salads from restaurants is kinda expensive so I’m gonna check out the produce section for salad kits and see if it’s cheaper. I also got recommended some good caesar dressings from my cousin and sister. So I’ll probably grab one of those too.
Yep.

Knight of Coins:
1. What message and or energy does this court card portray?
The Magician - The knight of coins is all about efficiency, routine, and having the patience to complete the tasks that are required of you. When considering that meaning, through the message of the magician, I get a sense that the knight on the surface may seem like a straight-laced and methodical individual, but he completes his routine with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude, because he knows it will get him to his goals.
2. Which part of myself or my life does this card represent?
Six of Coins reversed - The reversed six of coins warns us not to be generous for the wrong reasons, or without realistic expectations about the return on your generosity. I think this relates to my life when it comes to my investment of time. I need to be sure that the things I make part of my routine are worth the investment, for the right reasons.
3. If this card could speak one piece of advice, what would it tell me?
Judgment reversed - Don’t forget to regularly take time to evaluate your routine and make sure it’s still working for you, and moving you toward the right goals.

Hi there ! 🌼 Will this conversation I crave have a positive outcome ?
You got the Eight of Coins. This is the card of commitment, passion and craftsmanship. It depicts a peaceful family scene, in which a mother holds a baby in her lap while her husband climbs a ladder, painting onto golden coins. The conversation will feel comfortable and familiar, and is likely to involve topics relating to work and/or valued hobbies. I believe the outcome will be generally positive.

Ace of Cups ~ Medieval Scapini Tarot.
Tumblr media
The Ace of Cups shows is a symbol of possibility in the area of deep feelings, intimacy, attunement, compassion and love. In readings, it shows that a seed of emotional awareness has been planted in your life although you may not yet recognize it. When the seed sprouts, it could take almost any form. It might be an attraction, strong feeling, intuitive knowing, or sympathetic reaction. On the outside, it could be an offer, gift, opportunity, encounter or synchronistic event. When you see this Ace, examine your life to see how its loving energy could work for you. This card often means that love is the essence of the situation. It may or may not be romantic love. Look for ways in which you can begin to connect with others. Do you have someone to forgive, or do you want to ask for forgiveness? Can you set aside your anger and find peace? Would you like to drop your reserve and let your feelings show? The Ace of Cups tells you that your time is coming. This card also suggests inner attunement and spirituality. Cups are the suit of the heart, and the Ace stands for the direct knowing that comes from the heart. Trust what your feelings are telling you. Seek out ways to explore your consciousness and your connections with Spirit. Allow the power of your emotions to guide you in a new direction. Embrace the love that is the Ace of Cups.
