I am SO here for Falin’s resurrection being horrific. For the gory, awful details of them sitting through the dragon’s innards to reassemble her skeleton. And for healing magic that doesn’t feel good; that itches and burns and leaves scars. Take the reassuring mechanic of D&D resurrection and force it to fight with overpowering human fear and revulsion in the face of death. You can have them back, but only at the cost of knowing the weight of each of their bones in your hand.

Like I get that it's about the child death implications. But. Two things

The amount of PG-13 novels that include child death?? Are none of the staff Warrior Cats fans... I get that visual stuff can be a different beast compared to written works, but this feels like at least a little bit of a disservice to the younger teens on site in the same way a lot of sanitization in media lately has been.

Didn't we used to literally have eggs dying as a mechanic. I know we don't anymore, but like. Wild turnaround, yknow what I mean

“Grrrr— STUPID-!” You throw the plastic pack onto the ground. You had bought a new pair of mechanical pencils, and it was extremely hard to open. You tried looking for the scissors, but when you looked for them, they were just suddenly gone. Now here you were, glaring at this torn but not open pack of mechanical pencils on the floor.

You scowled, until a familiar pair of slippers entered your peripheral. Horror, your roommate, bends down and picks it up, bending back up and looking at the pack in his hands, then to you.

“Need.. help?” He rumbles out. You sigh and nod.

“Yeah.. stupid thing has been uncooperative.” You say, looking back up at him.

He just.. uses a finger, slicing the plastic clean open. Like butter. Your mouth opens slightly as you dumbly stare at his fingers.

“How the fu??” You breathe out. He hands the pack to you while chuckling. You stare down at the pack before looking up at him again. He wiggles his fingers, palm facing you. If you looked closely you could see just how sharp his claws were. You set down the pack and go to reach for his hand.

He gladly lowered his hand for you to inspect. You twist and turn it this and that.

“How the hell?? Wha- Man! Why didn’t you tell me you got sharp ass claws??” You say, shocked and impressed. He just laughs again and moves his hand to place on your head. He ruffles your hair, you could feel the tips of his claws lightly dragging across your scalp and you relax.

“Ya didn’ ask, pork chop.” He responded, “yer welcome.”

The next day you sketched out a picture of his hand on your notebook, adding notes here and there.
