Hi, didn't think my first post was going to be a Bowuigi idea but here we go
I'm not all that into Mario and the lore and characters, I got recruited by the movie trailer.
King boo defeats luigi (luigis mansion is something) but luigi manages to escape. Luckily he was exploring by himself so he doesn't need to save anyone. However he is being hunted by boos as he tries to make his way back to mushroom kingdom. Injured and exhausted from running for days he takes a risk on the only other option he has left, king bowser.
Bowsers minions drag in a semi conscious and bleeding luigi who begs for bowser help. Bowser begrudgingly agrees thinking is he does maybe princesse peach will give him a chance. However maybe he finds his true reward was the friendship he made with luigi.
Also Mario and peach took a vacation so when bowser sends a letter for someone to collect muigi, noone opens is cuz 1 it's addressed to peach and 2 its a letter from bowser their too scared.
During luigis time at the castle, bowser being busy with work, he ends up exploring. Maybe helping out in the kitchens/gardens?
Meeting the koopa kids (not just Jr but others (I forgot their names))
Reading in the Liabrary
Bowser ends up enjoying time with luigi and finds his presence calming. He sees how good luigi is with his kids.
Luigi meanwhile sees bowser as more than just a scary dragon man, he's a good father who although is a bit brash and rough, that's just how the koopa family runs. He's a dedicated leader who is just trying to find a way for his people to survive. And he's oddly considerate when not trying to attack you.
But just before the two can realise their feelings for one another, peach and Mario returns from their trip and assume the worse from the letter bowser left.
Mario barges into the castle and starts a fight with bowser who tried to explain but becomes more and more irritated as Mario doesn't listen, until luigi steps in and stops Mario, explaining bowser practically saved his life.
Mario tries to 'apologies' but his egos to big and he makes a bitchy comment. Bowser has had enough and yells at them to get out of his home.
They leave but luigi is mad at Mario for at the vert least not apologising properly but Mario has non of it claiming bowser doesn't deserve one after all the bad shits he's done.
After a few days, luigi can put the thought past him and goes to bowser himself to apologise for Mario. Bowser accepts and tells luigi he's welcome over whenever.
Sorry for any spelling errors on mobile

The Mario movie review (spoilers)
I want to talk about the movie because I really liked it! So spoilers below!
First of all, I watched the movie in french, so I won't talk about the VA's performances, it's strictly about the story and characterization.
In general
The plot is pretty generic, nothing too mindblowing nor revolutionary. What did you expect for an origin movie about a very famous video game franchise ? Honestly it was extremely fun to watch it, there was a lot of references that didn't feel too shoehorned in. People who don't know shit about the franchise can still enjoy the movie as much as people who are avid fans of it. And that's a big good point for the movie. Because it wasn't done for the fans... well, maybe that was the case but everyone else can still have good times watching it!
My 7 years old inner self almost got a panic attack for the underwater scene, BECAUSE OF THAT GODDAMN FUCKING EEL, MAN. I got TRAUMATIZED of that thing back in Super Mario 64 and in the theatre i was like "is that the eel? that's gotta be the damn eel, isn't it?" AND BOY I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. I loved it and hated it at the same time, you know what I mean? I liked how they intergrated the nightmare™ in the movie, but I still hate that thing.
When Luigi landed in the dark land (or whatever its name is in english), I was expecting a few boos. It was still a kinda scary scene with the dry bones all over the place, if I was a child I know this would have terrified me to my core. Still not over the fucking eel.
I think I never fangirled so much than during the kart making scene. I don't know why, I'm really not a big fan of vehicles and engines in general, but this scene? Seeing the karts being personalized was such a god tier moment for me, idk I just loved it! Then you have Toad with the biggest ass kart ever xD
They were quite vague about Peach's origin story, they're probably keeping it for a sequel, but it seems she is from the same world as Mario. Either way, it's a nice explaination as to why a human woman is ruling the Mushroom Kingdom full of Toads. The movie ended nicely, without too much sequel baiting, because as a standalone movie it's really fine if Nintendo won't make another one.
If I have to say one negative about the movie storywise, it's that no one dropped a penguin over the cliff, biggest disappointment of my life. My day is ruined 😂
The characters
I'll start with the cameos because people have a tendency to forget them. And I want to keep the best for last. Nice to see Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong in the crowd, they weren't forgotten by the writers! King Bob-Omb and King Boo were also cameos during the wedding scene, it was awesome. I freaking LOVED the blue shell koopa, he was such a fucking maniac, down for murder and completely insane. AND THEN HE DID THE THING!!! You know what I'm talking about, he went full kamikaze mode and was like "I'll take you down with me", best highlight of the movie (that was not about the brothers. more about them later). The luma was such a mood. His childlike voice saying the most disturbing things was hilarious xD Same, bro, same. Toad was... well he was just there. I liked his adventurous/brave personality.
I loved Peach, she was great. Both cute and badass as well as down to heart character. Liked how she was like "nobody gets it right the first time", nice reference to the video games (i also felt personally attacked by this statement, cuz i can suck at video games sometimes xD). She was grace, she was gentle, she was a true princess. Also, I liked how they didn't force too much romance between her and Mario. I mean sure, they are each other's love interest in canon so I wouldn't be mad if they have romantic moments in a possible sequel, but the movie didn't focus on that.
Bowser was truely funny. And menacing. It's the kind of characters who can do both and that's why we all love him. Loved all of his facial expressions. It was a blast everytime he was on screen. I don't know what else to say about him, he was such entertaining. His little musical number was 10/10.
Donky Kong was cool. I loved his interactons with Mario, worst enemies at first sight, and I liked how the writers kept their antigonistic relationship because duh, DK was Mario's first enemy. Liked how they almost had a bonding moment for having disappointed dads. But nope, DK was too prideful to admit he could relate to the guy who beat him xD
And now, make way for the best part of the movie: the brothers.
You have NO IDEA how much I loved them. They were so wholesome and protective of each others, it's so heartwarming, guys. Everything about them was ✨perfection✨. I knew they were going to get separated while watching the first trailer and still got shocked to see it happening in the second trailer. I don't know why. It was going to be expected. So going in the movie, I was waiting for this moment again, because with more build up to it I knew it would break me. And it did. Mainly with that one line : "Nothing can hurt us as long as we're together." Man. Fucking man. That line DESTROYED me.
The bros are protective of each other and it's everything I wanted to see onscreen. I can be a heartless bitch sometimes, but I'm extremely emotional when I see fictional brothers and sisters having wholesome moments between them. It's everything for me. Mario defending Luigi everytime was awesome. During the worksite scene, Mario was opening the way for Luigi and that's adorable as fuck, man. He knows Luigi can't jump or do parkour so he makes sure Luigi can still follow him. Love love love love!!!!!! Then you have the disappointed dad. Telling Mario that he's bringing down his brother with him. Mario goes sulking in his room, thinking he's made a mistake or a bad decision. AND THEN Luigi comes into the room reassuring Mario it's not the case. Amazing. Emotional support bro for the win.
Luigi saying that Mario is the best guy in the world is so great to me. He loves deeply his big brother and I'm just sobbing softly in my corner thinking about them. I cried like a baby watching them reuniting, I am not joking. Their hug was everything. AND THEN!!!! LUIGI COMES IN THE WAY OF BOWSER'S FLAMES TO SAVE HIS BIG BRO AND THROWS THE LINE™ BACK AT MARIO, I JUST- I CAN'T- I- !!!!!!
Everything about them was amazing. Their relationship was cute, wholesome, heartwarming, so pure... A lot of people arleady talked about them in details so I feel like i would repeat what has already been said. The Mario brothers were extremely sweet to watch from the beginning to the end. That was the best part of the movie: their relationship. Brothers loving each other is important to see onscreen. Fraternal love is a beatiful love that needs more attention from the medias.
To conclude, the movie was great, the characters awesome and the worldbuilding was perfect.

Not a homophobe or gay icon
You know, not all of us considered Pennywise or Babadook gay icons, not all of us considered Pennydook anything other than a joke. It was a damn joke to me, one that didn’t even carry far, though some may have taken it too seriously. I thought it was harmless, cuz you’d have to be dumb to seriously consider these horror villains gay icons when they literally do nothing to prove that they are. I am a slash fan, and it always felt like a poke at how people think slash fans make every character gay. I am a slasher, so I enjoyed Pennydook, as I also love horror, same reason I like Two Cents. That’s simply all, I never believed they were gay icons. It was a really dumb thing, but I didn’t see it as horrible or problematic. But the antis, the people who don't like that anyone merely likes Pennywise, especially if they want to fuck him, decided to remind us that Pennywise kills a gay man in the book as a reason why we shouldn't like him. And with the gay basher scene in Chapter Two, we are again being reminded of that. This is something they use against us. That’s why I don’t like it being used now. And yes, I’m going to use the word ‘antis’ for the people who don’t like people like me. I don’t think I’m superior because I want to fuck a fictional horror villain, as I once heard for using 'anti’ or 'normie’. They're not superior either because they don't want to fuck a fictional horror villain. No one is superior here.
I wish they hadn’t included the Adrian scene in IT Chapter Two. I understand why Stephen King wrote it. I get it. This is horror and he wanted to express how horrible it was, and the movie did that. The scene was uneasy and terrifying- but that wasn’t because of Pennywise. And I’m not talking about the scene in the book, but in the movie here. People are what’s terrifying about this scene, the people who make the decision to beat up Adrian and his boyfriend and dump Adrian off the bridge simply because they don’t like or accept that they’re gay. Pennywise did not even have to instigate this, he did not have to send homophobes after Adrian. The homophobes assaulted a gay couple of their own free will, because they wanted to, because of their hatred and ignorance. Pennywise just picked up the scraps. He ate Adrian because the poor guy was an easy meal, he was there already scared and beaten up, Pennywise was just hungry. But I still wish they’d left it out. The scene is used so Pennywise can be seen and word can get out so the Losers would know Pennywise was awake and come back to Derry. They could have done that another way without Pennywise eating Adrian.
I hated the scene as someone who despises homophobia. When Adrian kissed his boyfriend, people in the theater said “ew, gross” and I wasn’t the only one to report this experience, which breaks my heart. I was afraid these same assholes would applaud the beating that the homophobes in the movie gave Adrian and his boyfriend, and then cheer when Pennywise takes a bite out of Adrian, but thankfully, they did not. But imagine if they had cheered that.
I didn’t want the scene, because people would misinterpret it and they have. The New Pennywise became popular and there is a ton of merchandise out there right now for him because of the movie and the Halloween season. They've wanted to make money off this character, so making him seem homophobic isn't a good idea. Sure, some of us don't see him as homophobic. But people on here have already accepted him as homophobic as a reason that no one should like him, horror villain or not. This new Pennywise should not have been portrayed in any way that fans could interpret as homophobic. I know the scene is in the book, I understand why King wrote it, but it should've been left out of the movie that Penny eats the guy. There's too much awful shit in real life right now with bigotry. I'm solidly against bigotry, but if I like a character who's seen as even a little biogted, I'm saying it's okay, right? I know it's silly, we like him regardless of the fact that he eats people, especially children, but make him bigoted and you've went too far, but that's how it feels. It shouldn't matter if the killer clown monster who eats kids is homophobic or not, but it does.
A while ago, we were argued that Pennywise molests children and we shouldn't like him for this reason. This isn't true in any canon, for the book, the 90's one, or the remake. But antis used this argument. If they had made Pennywise an outright child molester in the remake, that wouldn’t have done well, I don't think. I wouldn't have liked him if they did that, maybe it's still silly, but that's how I feel. Take Freddy Krueger, he was never portrayed as a child molester in the original Robert Englund Nightmares. Once in part five The Dream Child he is called a child molester, but he never was. Wes Craven himself thought that would have been too awful. It would have been too far and Freddy may not have been as popular. The 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street does make Freddy a child molester, and I hated that they done that, I didn't like that Freddy and I still don't. I hate that remake, so I was glad they didn’t do this with Pennywise and just let his remake be awesome. I know it's strange, they can get away with killing people, but add in molesting children or bigotry and you've went too far. They're still villains, but not marketable villains. But Freddy and Pennywise can still be villains without crossing lines. Shit, Jason Vorheess kills anyone, he doesn’t care who’s gay or straight or what their color or gender is or about their political beliefs.
Pennywise also gets considered homophobic for killing Eddie, since it’s confirmed that at least Richie is gay and in love with Eddie. And since yeah, Pennywise taunts Richie with knowing his secret. Pennywise taunts adult him with knowing and outing him, but he doesn’t out Richie. Pennywise could have outed kid Richie to fucking Henry Bowers in the arcade. Point is, Freddy, Jason, Michael, etc have all killed poc, and have most likely killed gay people. They don’t really give a shit, everyone is fair game.
I’m fine with it, as I know it’s horror and I do not see Pennywise as homophobic, like I do not see him as a gay icon either. I see him as indifferent. I see him as a predator who doesn’t fucking care, he’ll use whatever he can to scare his victims so he can eat. He could’ve just as well went after the homophobes, and I’d been happier, but I still wouldn’t have saw him as a sudden gay icon.
I'd also like to clarify that the whole wanting to fuck Pennywise thing is also just a joke to me. It's not serious. Come on, this character isn't real. He's fictional. There is no way in the world I actually could fuck this character outside of someone dressing up for me and roleplaying. It's fantasy. I'm not delusional, I know it's not real or possible. I've said this many times, and once someone posted saying "oh, now they're mad that they can't fuck Pennywise cuz he's fictional." This isn't true, I'm not mad that I can't fuck Pennywise cuz he's fictional, that's stupid. This is pretend.
These opinions are my own, this is how I feel. And if you like this character, like him. Some people aren't gonna like that, but boo-fucking-whoo. They wanted Pennywise to be seen as a child molester to justify their bullying of people who like him. They want him to be homophobic for the same reasons.
