Playing through Ender Lilies some more and backtracking after getting basically every traversal ability... We got to the room with Eleine's diary and like, the first thing she says is basically, "Something happened that made me happy enough that I had to write it down. Got to see Fretia today :)" and like idk what the popular fanon interpretation is but no Eleine definitely loves her and/or is gay as hell. Even when we get to see her private thoughts like this it's just more Fretia.

But also like, the circumstance that she's going into to do this as well. In the Domain, having to wear this stupid mask just to breathe the whole time, having to deal with the Mage Brigade assholes who, from what I'm reading in "must be a former coven member to join" it sounds like they were all assholes that wanted to do unethical research so she fired them? Or at least the King was poaching her people to weaken the Coven. And she gets there and Fretia's sick af to the point she can barely even get up.

And. I don't know, sometimes when I visit my sister, if she's sicker than normal and needs to sleep, or her place is a bit messy and I tidy up, she apologizes for the visit not being "fun" for me. But if you love someone. Circumstances might differ but, for me staying away for too long and worrying hurts more than trying to be there for her ever will. Even if it's not much, even if it's only temporary, you have to do something. It's important. Eleine wouldn't want to just leave her alone surrounded by jerks that aren't even treating her like a person anymore, even if it's a little uncomfortable for her sometimes.

It was fairly early in my transition, and in my friendship with Maus, when I found this game, and I fell in love with it immediately, but I couldn't fully articulate why at the time. Part of it was, getting to play a cute girl for a change, getting some small part of what I missed growing up. But also it's just good writing. Maus turned to me after we read Eleine's Diary and the disability aid Eleine made for Fretia and said that it sounded like something I'd do for her, and yeah she's probably right.
