๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Maurits de Lorijn x reader
A\N: Gift for my wonderful friend @sirenat-t
Warnings: None
"Stand still."
You huffed at the Warden's muffled tone, needle still held between his lips. The measuring tape was tightly secured around your waist as he hummed in focus.
"You took my measurements last week, you know," you reminded him as he put the tape aside, his gloved hands gently pulling on your wrists, so you'd look at him.
"I wanted to make sure not a single detail has changed," Maurits replied with a small huff leaving his lips. He took out pieces of fabric, matching the green material with the shade on his coat. The gesture placed a small smile on your lips. "You shall not be wearing that... strange attire during our Christmas celebrations."
"Hey! that's fashion nowadays. My generation would understand," you retorted, though there was no bite to your words. These 'arguments' became all too familiar.
"Unfortunately, I doubt anyone would understand your choice of garments," Maurits mumbled as he stood behind you, picking up the measuring tape to measure your shoulders. You could practically hear his smile. You had gotten used to standing still, he was making you new outfits practically every month now. The other articles of clothing were neatly hung on coat hangers within his wardrobe.
"You know, all our outfits look the same at this point," You teased, ruffling the left side of Maurits' hair, careful to avoid the right side. Maurits let out a 'tsk', swatting your hand away so he could fix his curls.
"I shall use another design if it displeases you so," he grumbled. You knew he wasn't serious; he never was. While he averted his gaze, he allowed you to grip his chin, placing a kiss against his cheek.
"No, I like the one you picked out. You just make it far too easy to mess around," you chuckled in response, pinching his soft skin. Maurits looked down at the fabric, looking at the flowers he had carefully etched into it. It were your favourites, one of the only things he could never forget.
"But in all seriousness," you continued. "You've been holed up here for weeks now. Even Percy is wondering where you're at." You tugged on the mans sleeve, trying to catch his eyes.
"How I utilize my time is none of his concern," he replied, placing the fabric down. He tried to play it off, but you could see the contemplation on his face.
"Maurits... we talked about this..." you reminded him, the smile not yet leaving your face. "Richard shouldn't be your only friend. You're not Damien, you know?" You watched as the warden covered his mouth and nose to fight back a snort. Despite him trying to keep up the serious demeanour, he couldn't help himself.
"Very well, though, not yet," he simply said as he sat down in his chair, the colour of the fabric once again matching his attire. "I wish to remain here a while longer."
"Looking for some quality time together?" You flirted, leaning on the wall close to him. Maurits' pale cheeks went beet red at that remark.
"Jeminee..." he mumbled, casting his eyes aside as if gazing upon you was a shameful act. You plopped down on the seat across from him, leaning your arms on your knees.
"Come on Maurits, we've been dating for a while-"
"Courting."
"What?"
"I am courting you, dating sounds rather... well, it does sound too simple. I am courting you." Maurits crossed his legs as he leaned back.
"Whatever floats your boat, buddy," you hummed in reply, earning you another soft glare from your boyfriend, another term he hated. You glanced out the window, looking at the snow covering the gardens outside.
Maurits followed your gaze, his gaze softening. He pursed his lips briefly before looking at you again.
"It is quite simple to lose yourself here," Maurits spoke, catching your attention again. "It no longer means anything when you have resided here for centuries."
"I guess that makes sense," you replied. "Is that why you guys no longer really care for it anymore?"
"No, it was an incident involving Clemens. Not to mention the arguing that often occurred."
"Not surprising," you muttered as you looked at him. "What about you?"
"I have no strong feelings towards it, per se," he responded. "I simply prefer spending time alone with you."
"Maybe you are a little like Damien after all," you joked. He shook his head.
"Do not begin with that, truly."
